(00:00):
I'm a man of the people.Grant, that's going to say you k
wait coms Perel Hotline, ring anotherman, other people on Cody roarc Cody,
how you doing this evening? Myfriend? You are a man of
the people. I'd have to say, like, that's the number one thing
people don't understand that Benjamin alright inreal life he's one of the best people
I know, man, So Ihave to throw that out there. I
appreciate it. Yeah, the characterI play on Twitter is just a little

(00:20):
far from you know, actual me. But you know, whatever, it's
it's it is what it is.I'm gonna start off by asking you what
you would do, because we'll getto what the Broncos are going to do,
what we think they're going to do, all that kind of stuff.
But if general manager Cody Roark wasgoing into this draft the way that it's
set up, what would be youraim? What would what would you be
trying to pull off? Here? You know, I feel like, for

(00:43):
me, I know the quarterback thatI would take right uh you know,
for me, I would take bownixt but I'm not going to take him
twelfth overall here. If I havea field, he's going to be available
maybe late, you know, lateround one, if you can maybe trade
back a little bit or even likeearly round two, if you can try
to you know, trading, youknow, changing place someone at twelve is
going to get you maybe an earlyspot in round two and you can double

(01:03):
dip at the end of round onethere I would take, you know,
ideally bow a second round if that'sthe case, and I would add,
to be honest, to another widereceiver into the mix. Heere for the
Broncos. And the reason I saythat, I think is just because of
the development this week right with obviouslyCortland not reporting for voluntary workouts, which
is completely fine as voluntary, butthe fact that you know, he was
the only guy that Russell Wilson toldlast year when everything was going on behind

(01:26):
the scenes, Courtland, you know, is now Cortin's playing the levers to
his you know, his ability, which I think at this point he's going
to be, hey, extend meor trade me, which I think at
this point I think the team mightlook to trade him versus extending him at
this point. So if that's goingto be the case, if that's what
Dever's going to do, go getyou a round one wide receiver to parallomside,
Tim Patrick, Marvin Nims, JoshReynolds, maybe little Jordan Humphrey getting

(01:49):
some run, and then hey,you have another guy into the mix.
It's going to be a round forquite some time. To me, that
is the most appealing move that Iwould do. The TM. Yeah,
and I tend to agree with thatif I'm saying to twelve, if I'm
looking at the trade back and thepossibility of picking up bone Nicks. By
the way, if you looked atthe betting propositions, bo Nix is currently
the over under on him is thirtytwo and a half, with it heavily
weighted to him being later than pickthirty two. It's minus two hundred that

(02:13):
he'd be picked after thirty two plusone sixty if you think he's going before
that, so he can makes upsome money. If you think or have
intel that he's going before the thirtysecond pick in the draft, which is
the last pick in the first round, I tend to agree with you,
though I don't see a scenario inwhich emptying out the coffers to try to
get up and get one of theseother quarterbacks is beneficial to a team that

(02:35):
is not a quarterback away. AndI've been over that repeatedly over the last
few days, where I'm like, you know, look at the teams that
did trade up that were successful, they're the ones that already had a team
built. You know. Kansas CityI already had the team built when they
moved up for Pat Mahomes. TheNiners already had the team built when they
moved up for Tree last Now,Lance didn't work out, but perty from
that draft did. The premise is, you know, when you have a
team built, generally, that's thetime that you empty because you don't need

(02:59):
the sense to build a team, you already built it. How you got
the quarterback? Right? Yeah?Well, and that's the key here for
Denver as well. I mean forthem, they're going to have all of
their you know, traft capital goinginto next year. They're not going to
be in a situation without a firstor second as of you know right now.
But I just, you know,I've seen all these scenarios where if
you're going to move up from twelveto four wall, it's gonna include you
know, slopping with twelve this year. It's also going to include your first

(03:22):
round next year. Is they toinclude your first round the year after that?
How do you build the team inthis window that Sean Payton has,
like he's gonna got four years lefton his deal, Well, all of
a sudden, there's three years thathe's had on his overall contract where he's
not gonna have a first round pickto work with. To me, I
just don't think that is what he'sgoing to do. And look, you
guys have a lot more intel onbackground. They have a little bit more
of an idea maybe how some otherteams are fairing or what they're thinking the

(03:44):
NFL draft that will make them, you know, make the most informed decision.
Whether it's to be aggressive and tradeup, whether that's to trade back
and a quan umble capital really justdepends on how they view it, right.
I think that's where the consensus ofthe draft conversation, Ben, I
think it kind of gets lost. And you think that's where the commentary gets
divisive. I saw it. Youknow, you even put out as well
this week, which I agree withyou, like mock draft fatigue is really
sitting it at this point. AndI tell you what I'm over mock draft

(04:08):
mondays, I'm with you there, but The reality is is even these these
big boards, these mock draft simulators, they have their own consensus on who
they think are the top you know, twenty five, top thirty two players,
But it may be entirely different onthe Broncos big board into who they
had one through thirty two. Andyou know, I think at the end
of the day, if the teamfeels great about it, you will can

(04:29):
we want them to write. It'snot about what we want them to do,
It's about what they feel like theywant to do. And obviously they're
going to make the best informed decisionhopefully, right. I think Bronc those
countries is waiting to see on that. To me, I think that he's
got to play. It's smart hereand if you can maintain keeping your capital
next year and you know, ina couple of years from now, I
think that's the best move, youknow, for Denver because look, if

(04:49):
you look at the free agency listnext year, Ever's got twenty plus dudes
hitting the open market that you know, your role player, some guys are
started, or some guys are youknow, maybe look for an extension.
But they're gonna have some tough decisionsto make next year as well. So
you know what is the vision forthe team. I'm hoping we got to
find out when they meet with themedia. Yeah, we got the press
of tomorrow and that'll be interesting.I think a lot of people don't expect

(05:10):
it to them out too much. But we'll see if theyd on how many
quarterback questions get asked? All ofthem? Yeah, and the question I
have prepared is not a quarterback question. We'll see if that if that changes
when we get there. Talking withCody Roarkira Mile High Sports, Cody,
Okay, we've talked about what wewould do. Now let's talk about the
Denver Broncos. And yes, SeanPayton does have a history of being aggressive,

(05:33):
does have a history of moving upin the draft. George Peyton,
conversely, as a history of beinga bit more patient, a bit more
conservative, and a bit more valueminded in terms of how he approaches the
draft. We saw that, Ithink on full display when Nate Hackett was
the coach and desperately want of Gregdulsicch and he kind of played the board
knowing where the value was for Dulsageto be able to get it for him

(05:54):
while also multiplying picks. What dowe expect to win out here. Do
we expect Sean Payton to just youknow, mortgage you everything, go up
and get some guy, or doyou think that the voice of reason or
like what I would consider the voiceof reason in the room causes a maybe
a more state or measured approach.I think we might see a more state
of measured approach. I felt likelast year where we saw Denver obviously trading

(06:15):
up into the end of round twoto get Marvin Mims, I felt like
that was, hey, we don'thave capital here, we need to get
really good players. And I thinkthat's where we saw them be a little
bit more aggressive last year with thelimited capital and the resources that they did
have there, with all the circumstances. Consider now they have eight picks this
year that have flexibility to do alittle bit, you know, of everything
there. But I do think we'regonna see a little mild managered approach there

(06:38):
because I think at the end ofthe day, if your goal is to
get the quarterback and you feel likethat guy is going to you know,
not be available at twelve, andyou're going to try to trade up before
like you run the risk of anotherteam getting intel of that and trying to
swoop up ahead of you, whichyou know, there are a couple of
teams that could do that. Minnesotaprobably has the most firepower right now to
be able to do that. TheRaiders could do that, though, I
have seen where they could maybe eventrade back and get you know, in

(07:00):
the back end a round one andmaybe get you know, a quarterback in
an offensive tackle. I saw youpoint something out like that as well on
social media. Like Denver, theyhave to make moves only for what's good
for them. I know Daniel Jeremiasaid it to Dad on his conference call.
He believes that, you know,a quarterback can come in and have
success here in Denver, but there'squestions. I mean, then there's gonna
be a new starting center. Wedon't know the long term outlook at the
left tackle position here with Denver, with Garrett being in the final year is

(07:23):
deal, no guaranteed money. Andthen on top of that, you know
you're going to hope that your rungame is sustainable is here because you're gonna
have a run game, it's notgoing to matter what quarterback you get.
And I think that has to bethe emphasis so far this offseason we'll see
that philosophy changes a little bit.Yeah, I tend to agree, and
I think that's that's sort of thething. I believe that what's the best

(07:44):
way to put this. I knowthat there's a team that I don't think
a lot of people are projecting totrade up right now, that's drafting in
the back third of the first roundthat wants an offensive tackle and they're not
going to be in a position toget the one they want, so they
might be considering trading up with theDenver Broncos. I'll tell who that team
is the next segment. We'll geta chance to kind of kick that one

(08:05):
around for them. The people thathave been uh will be waiting on that.
But I'll say it feels like thatthere are gonna be some opportunities to
move backwards for the Broncos here andor the Raiders and be able to pick
guys up. Who are some guysthat you would love to see the Broncos
select. Let's let's presume a tradeback here. Who are some guys you'd
like to see the Broncos pick ifthey traded back somewhere between you know,

(08:26):
eighteen and twenty five. Yeah, that's a great question. I mean so
much as dependent. You know,I lean a little bit on I know
a lot of people have never tekenan edge rusher. They don't know if
that's the move that you want tomake right now. Denver understandably next year,
like this is Jonathan Cooper and BaronBrownings last year of their rookie deals.
I understand that you have Nick Benitowho took a huge step forward.
I'm more comfortable with the edge rushergroup than I think a lot of people

(08:50):
are. So like for me,it wouldn't be an ed rusher in my
opinion, And obviously guys like DallasTurner, I think Jared Versus we got
long gone before you know, Denvergets to eighteen or twenty five in that
regard. You know, I've beenbouncing a little bit back and forth on
cornerback as well. I know it'snot the popular pick in Broncos country,
but I think Terry On Arnold's goingto probably go first in terms of the
first cornerback off the board. Obviouslyquinnyin Mitchell has been getting a lot of
run as well. Does Denver needthat? I mean, it's obviously Denver

(09:13):
looking at bringing in some veteran guyslike last week Levi Wallace. A few
weeks ago they were interested in signingChristian Fulton. Those fell through a little
bit for them, and you knowthat tells me the heye, they're still
looking to add any cornerback to theroom for Themari Mathis and Riley Moss,
And so I bounced between cornerback.I bounced between that. And then also
I look at Amarus Mims, obviouslyan offensive tackle, and anythink to myself,

(09:35):
like is this never's best position rightnow? And maybe try to get
a guy and see if he canbe all power anchor there on the left
side of the art's gonna have thisyear. A rookie like Mimes can learn
from him. Obviously, if Denver'sgoing to move on from Garrett after this
year, if that is in factthe plan, I'd say I bounced between
those positions. But man, Ijust can't help be enamored by the wide
receiver group here. And look,I don't think Roll mcdonjay is going to

(09:56):
be available. If Denver were totrade back to eighteen. I think he's
going to be top twelve, topthirteen, something along those lines there.
But man, but he'd be anice addition to add to the mix that.
I mean, that's kind of whereI'm leaning here, Ben. It's
just there, there's a multitude ofpositions that I feel like, you know,
they can benefit from OVI see,you know, I think defensive tackle
is another one we can look at. Obviously with the sweat having the DUI

(10:18):
over the you know, the pastweek, and that could drop his value.
Sigifficant that I could play out wellfor Denver, you know, in
round number three or maybe even laterif he drops to round four, like
Denver's got an opportunity to you know, take some chances here. I just
think that they've got to address itin the order. I think quarterback's obviously
the most important. Outside of that, I'm going to go detackle, offensive
tackle, and then cornerback and receiversmy top five needs there for Denver.

(10:41):
It's interesting you mentioned wide receiver there, because even though I don't know that
the quality of that room is necessarilywhere you want it, the quantity feels
like you have enough bodies at thispoint, even without uh Courtland Sutton.
But I get where you're coming fromthere. It'd be nice to have that
kind of thing. I go backand you look at Sean Payton's history and
you know, he tends to haveone rod receiver that he pays that it's

(11:03):
you know, that's kind of theX. And then you know, maybe
one of the guy on kind ofa mid level deal, maybe two,
and then the rest of them tendto be on rookie deals. So that
would be that would be sort offascinating to see. The thing that I
that most greats on me is becauseI do believe the edge rush rotation could
use a boost. But I'm notopposed to taking a corner at twelve if
they feel that he's the guy,you know, like Quinn and Mitchell at
twelve doesn't bug me in the least. But I watched the Broncos fan base

(11:24):
on social media and there's a meltdown. I think everyone forgets. Remember the
Houston Texans game where Nico Collins almosthad two hundred yards at halftime, and
you know, I'm and outside ofthat towards the in stretch, like the
Raiders exploded in the passing game againsthim in the secondary last year, Like
you know, I wasn't Fabian Moreaureally sell off after really I think stepping
up and playing pretty solid, likehe didn't hurt you in anyway in the

(11:46):
midway part of the season, butman, at the end of the year,
he couldn't come up big when theteam needed him to. Now you
get you know, some guys inthis class with some brains, some really
good athleticism, and obviously the fourthree three speed. To me, I
think that is a g eight editions, especially when you factor and hey,
there's no Justin Simmons anymore on theback end of that secondary, so you
are going to need your corners tobecome big time playmakers. I think the

(12:07):
one I've been lobbying for Ben,I've been asking for it, and hopefully
we get to see this year, especially with Jim Leonard coming in as a
passing game coordinator. When press coveragelooks for Pat, I mean, he
did a lot of that his rookieseason under Vic, and he did it
under a ger Row, but thenlast year we just saw so much off
ball coverage. I know Pat wantsto get back to playing a little bit
more man of man to be ableto put some collapse on some dudes.
But you need another guy opposite theyear that you're confident in. Ken Riley

(12:30):
Mosster to Maori Mapp has become that. I mean, it's a huge question
mark right now. You know,in this year's draft you maybe get a
guy opposite them that can do thatright away as a rookie. So for
me, I mean, I'm adefensive back guy. There might be a
little bias in me there on thatside, but I mean I'll be okay
with that move as well. Who'sthe one guy you're banging the table for
for them to come away with inthis draft? For me, I didn't
have to be somebody there at thetop. Like for me, it's case
State tight end Vincent. I knowthey had extended conversation with him. I'd

(12:54):
love to see that added to theroom. I think he would be a
fantastic weapon for this offense and helpbuild this thing up and give them something
they were sorely missing. But who'ssomebody that you look at this draft you
say they got to come away withthis guy? Ooh, And a lot
of the mock draft simulartors I've beendoing, I feel like Mason Smith and
I think there's a little bit ofa different consensus on maybe where he's going

(13:15):
to end up. Some people sayit could be you know, late round
one, maybe a mid round two, like, I don't know where he's
at, a lot of similarities.I've been able to get him in round
three. But Mason Smith, Ithink obviously the ties to Jamar Kine from
his time at LSU. He's aguy that can play multiple positions, not
just the end. He can playinside the A gap. And obviously there's
a rotation there with Malcolm Roach, like obviously the guy that brought him this

(13:35):
week, Andreela Blackson, like theywant to see if they can get somebody
because Roach isn't going to be anevery down player, but you need to
get guys that can rotate in andalso still play at a high level inside
the A and the B gaps toprevent you from getting gash and maybe even
a lot more one on one opportunitiesfor your edge rushers. Mason Smith out
of LSUE, I think is aguy that I would like ever try to
come away with at some point.Love it love talking to you is always.
