Welcome to it, Broncos Country Tonight. Ben's beIN Albright here with you Post
Rockies Edition five six six nine Zerostext line three or three see three eighty
five eighty five. You guys wantto chime in on the highline? Interesting
show tonight got into some stuff overthe weekend. Kyrie Jackson, the rookie
(00:25):
at Oregon Vikings Rookie Corner, passedaway. It was early Saturday morning over
there in Maryland. He was involvedin a car accident around three fourteen in
the morning. He was the passengerin the Dodge Charger seated next to the
driver. There was another passenger inthe back seat. The driver of the
(00:56):
driver of a Silver Infinity Q fiftytried to change lanes at a high rate
of speed and that caused the chargerthat Kyrie was a passenger in. So
he was a passenger in a vehiclethat didn't do any wrong, was struck.
The charger travel off the right sideof the roadway, struck multiple tree
(01:19):
stumps and came to a stop. The occupants of the Impala and the Infinity
involved in the accident were unharmed, but the three occupants of the charger were
not Jackson and the driver were pronounceddead at the scene, and the second
passenger was pronounced deceased at the hospital. State Police that alcohol may have been
a contributing circumstance in the crash, but it's important to note that Kyrie Jackson
(01:45):
had no fault in this whatsoever.Right, he wasn't driving the vehicle that
he was in, was not inthe wrong in what they were doing.
And so that brings us to whereI guess I started to have a problem
because a user on TikTok who goesby the name of Rico knows he has
(02:10):
a Twitter account. Rico knows TikTokis trying to lead people back to his
TikTok to make money off it,I don't know, put out a video
in which he completely lied about KyrieJackson, claiming it was his fault,
and you know, all these otherthings that he wasn't sad about the death,
that he should have been out atthat time of night, all this
(02:31):
kind of stuff, basically victim blaming, you know, for attention. And
he doubled down on this with multipledeletions of it after he get called out,
and there's multiple deletions and fake nonapology type stuff, claiming he's wired
different. And this guy had somepretty grandiose claims. So myself and some
(02:55):
people I know started digging in onthis guy who's basically a social media guy.
Has no connection to any professional oryou know, collegiate sports or anything
like that. But this is asocial media you know, influencer type basically.
(03:15):
Uh I, I don't want tosay report, but like influencer maybe
is maybe sort of the title you'dgive here. He's not a reporter,
he's not credentialed anywhere any that kindof stuff. He allegedly previously served in
the military. But is video thathe put out which was disgusting, and
(03:38):
the way that he kept trying togrift for attention off of it by by
getting outrage clicks, because he getsevery click that he gets, you know,
ups the money that he generates forthese these videos, right and by
far I'm looking at I'm looking rightnow, I'm looking at these these videos
that he does. Most of themdo negligible traffic. That one, however,
(04:00):
did you know, was it halfa million views something like that?
So it's you know, these theseoutrage bait videos that he that he's doing
for attention to try to try tostart getting some money off these things.
We started digging into this guy,and apparently this guy is charging kids,
charging high school kids to quote reviewtheir film and get them noticed. And
(04:29):
if you can't tell from my voiceand the derise of way in which I'm
speaking about this already, h thatis the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.
Anybody who's involved in any way withcollegiate athletics knows that that's a scam.
That uh, if you are,if you have, if you have
any stars at all, everybody inthe country that's in recruiting knows who you
(04:50):
are. And parents, if you'relistening to me right now, if anybody
comes to you and tells you thatyou that you need to pay them,
you know, give them money oryou could pay them and they can help
you, they can't. Okay,first of all, they're there. You're
paying them for something they can't deliveron. Second of all, nobody nobody
does that. Nobody reputable does that. Nobody charges you for that. Those
(05:13):
are not real things. And sothis guy says that claims that he'll review
your huddle tape and shout you outon his tik tak and that somehow is
going to get you connected with coaches. Later he sort of changed that claim,
saying that he corresponds with these coaches, but that is dubious at best,
(05:33):
and I will say I know fora fact that is mostly a lie,
including some of the screenshots he triedto post, which was just him
introducing himself to a coach and notin any way trying to pump up a
kid or any of that kind ofstuff. This guy is something else,
and I hate to bring attention topeople like this, but I think that
(05:57):
too often in this in this business, we ignore the bad actors and bad
apples and don't properly get the wordout that these con artists that are trying
to take your money, and thisguy's taking money from desperate parents and kids.
You know, somebody who's trying tolive the dream. And I'll say
this, I understand that some peoplehave a view of themselves they want to
(06:18):
continue to live the dream, thatthey feel like they just need somebody to
believe in them. And occasionally guyslike that do fall through the cracks,
But the reality is most of thetime, the people who are willing to
fork over money for this either justdon't know what they're doing, or are
so desperate to try to continue thedream well after the point where their abilities
(06:40):
should allow that that's what they do. This guy is, and let me
be emphatically clear, is a conartist. He does not have connections to
coaches that he is putting kids infront of, and no person that does
is charging for that. You haveno idea how many coaches are spoken to
in the last forty eight hours thatwere openly laughing like, who is this
(07:04):
guy? We've never heard of thisguy? But he got on there.
I guess it was yesterday or something. It posted a video because all these
people are you know, people arenow piling on as they realize he's completely
full of crap. It posted avideo where he was claiming to have made
one hundred and eighty thousand dollars orsomething like that, one hundred and sixty
(07:27):
thousand dollars something like that over thelast six months, to which I ask,
why are you charging kids to lookat their tape? Then you don't
need to do that. Why areyou praying on desperate kids and families?
(07:47):
You don't need to do that. You don't need to take it. If
you're making one hundred and sixty thousanddollars every six months, you don't need
to take money to do that. And I'll tell you this, I have
spoken with coaches on kids behalf puttape in front of coach in college coaches,
I would never take a dime forthat. And for me, that
has nothing to do with the amountof money I make. I don't make
(08:07):
one hundred and sixty thousand dollars everysix months. But if I in no
way would I ever sit there andtake money to promote a kid on social
media. If I'm doing it,I'm gonna do it out the goodness my
heart and do it for free.College coaches, no high school coaches.
And if there's a guy slipping throughthe cracks, those high school coaches will
(08:28):
let college coaches know. They'll letyou coca. All those relationships that get
fostered in that business and in thatindustry, that's what they're there for.
So this guy, he is heput this out there. You could cut
the line. I'll film review you. You could cut the line with a
donation. He's changed it to donations. Now, that's that's what he's doing.
He's taking donations. Those donations areto feed hisself something. The guy
(08:52):
could probably cut back on a littlebit, judging by some of these videos,
but it's it blows my mind thatpeople like this not only exist but
think they can get away with it. I asked him for some screenshots of
him promoting kids. I asked himfor, you know, some some sort
(09:18):
of proof. And I did itbecause I think most of you know that
I've served I did fifteen years.I said, hey, look, true
integrity check, you know, becauseI knew what he was saying and the
way the working that he was using, in the way that he was saying
it, it was pretty obvious thatthis guy has not ever really actually been
(09:39):
in this industry because he's using terminologyand saying things that are just flat out
untrue, saying these contacting nil collectivesand did he's, oh god, what
there was the tree working, thetransfer portal and all this kind of stuff.
And I'm like, buddy, like, I know people that do this
for a living. I know peoplethat have on it for a living.
(10:01):
We head coach, We had ahigh school coach here locally, used to
coach at the collegiate level. Itworked doing transfer portal stuff. Bobstitt.
They have no clue who this guyis, no clue, and it's such
a tight knit community that everybody knowseverybody it is. It is you can't
(10:22):
you can't be the guy who's likeanonymously doing this, and there's no there's
no reason to be that person. If you're the person who's soliciting for money
in doing this, if you're aperson who feels the need to rip off
high school kids and their families whileyou're allegedly making one hundred and whatever one
(10:46):
thousand dollars every six months or whatever, I don't know what to say,
Like what kind of sick person doesthat? And I'm sorry, I'm on
one about this guy, but it'sit's it's just frustrated that there are so
many good people out there. Thereare good people, good coaches, good
people out there who are just tryingto help kids live their dream, get
(11:07):
better, coach them up to bebetter people, and then you have rip
off con artist nerds like this guyout there just trying to make a dollar
off their desperation. It's just it'sjust it sickens me to watch five six,
(11:28):
six nine zeros text line. Soanyway, this guy's been I've been
going back and forth a little biton on social media. I just I
can't even begin to fathom how youthought you were going to fake your way
into this. And so, youknow, he posts, you know,
(11:50):
he posts these videos and I'm lookingat this thing right now. This stuff
is hilarious because he's allegedly talking abouthidden gems. Right, guys know that
he knows about I'm gonna I'm gonnahelp them see the light of day.
Right, and his hidden gems areLouisville wide receiver Colin Lacey and Miami wide
receiver Isaiah Horton. But he's he'sgot Zaquon Patterson over here. Patterson's a
(12:15):
four star recruit. Everyone in thecountry knows who he is. There's there's
no hidden gem about him at all. If you go into an FCS school,
you're probably not in any way asleeper. Recruiting services coaches they all
know who you are. And soI, I like, I don't understand
(12:43):
what it is that he thinks he'sdoing. I don't understand how how ew
in any way would feel like youwouldn't get caught. But here we are,
and the guy is caught, andso I don't know what's gonna happen.
(13:07):
I don't know if anything is goingto happen to him, but I
know he's defrauding kids of money andit just sickens me. Five six six
nine zero. Do you guys knowanything about this guy or you want to
you want to get into it withhim, I'm taking any of all information.
Probably he's got a twin brother alsoout there, who you know,
(13:28):
nearly identical, who is basically justripping him as well. And it all
started with with with a weird, narcissistic, social media addicted video basically pretending
(13:48):
that Kyrie Jackson's death was his ownfault. I don't even know where to
begin with this one thing we skippedlast week. You TOSSD eight is making
significant changes in their football program.Blake Anderson terminated his They've notified an intent
(14:09):
to terminate his employment for actions takenin the spring of twenty twenty three.
These actions allegedly violated both his employmentagreement and university policy. The decision came
after a thorough external review of allegednon compliance with university policies that implement Title
nine, which require full and timelyreporting of disclosures of sexual misconduct, including
(14:31):
domestic violence and prohibit employees from investigatingdisclosures themselves. Utah State Athletic Director Jerry
Bovie says he did not violate Titlenine reporting policies and will file a grievance.
(14:54):
Bovie was fired along with Blake Anderson. Top administrators said there's been an
unacceptable rupture in the required reporting processfor sexual misconduct and domestic violence. Anderson's
shortcomings in that regard past and presenthave been reported on before. Bov,
(15:18):
for his part, says he didreport information he received from Anderson within twenty
four hours of hearing it, ashe is required by school policy, saying
quote, I reported it through theVice president of student affairs to the equity
office. Two other individuals at theschool reported alongside Bovi. Said all three
of our names are on the report. Bovie said he couldn't speak to Anderson's
(15:41):
actions in this case or others. The university will have no additional comments until
further notice. The incident hands centeredon a football player at Utah State who
Bovie said was involved in an incidentwith a woman in April of twenty twenty
three. Said athlete shortly thereafter transferredto another school because Bovie is filing a
grievance first termination. He'd not sharesspecifics of what took place, so they
(16:02):
to say there were no charges filedin the case. I this is,
I mean fascinating story here as acollege football program loses their head coach due
to his own issues just before thestart of the season. Be fascinating to
(16:23):
see what that program continues to do. We come back. I want to
get into this JaMarcus Russell's situation.Don't know if you guys have heard about
this one. Russell allegedly pocketed aseventy five thousand dollars donation five six six
(16:45):
nine zeros in tex line. Youare listening to Broncos Country tonight right here
on KAWA say A ninety four toone FM News Talk Sports. Welcome back
to it, Broncos Country Tonight.Benjamin all right here with you at Rodriguez
producing X nine zero's text line.Yeah, a lot of you guys texted
in wanted you to know about thatRico guy. It's Rico knows on TikTok
(17:07):
or Rico knows TikTok. The guysjust just a scam artist, just a
con artist and a fraud and Anybodywho's charging kids for visibility is not somebody
you ever want to be aligned within the in the recruiting process for football.
And I'll say this, I mean, he's got one video bragging that
he makes one hundred and sixty thousanddollars every six month, and out of
the other he's nickel and diamond kidsand desperate families for money. So one
(17:29):
of those things doesn't add up.Maybe both. You be the judge five
six six nine zero. Arch Manningin Manning News, was probably the most
discussed recruit in college football before committingto Texas. Usually top recruits aren't satisfied
spending two years on the bench, but that's exactly what Arch is doing.
Man served as quin yours back uplast year, we'll do so again this
(17:52):
year. Many quarterbacks and Manning's positionswould have transferred to a place where they
could start, but he said heexpects to be the long Horns starre.
Someday we'll do his job as youweres back up until then. Manning told
Larry Holder of the Athletic it's toughbecause you want to be out there playing
with your boys. But it camedown and just realizing that there's nowhere else
I want to be. It wasmy dream to play at Texas. I'm
(18:12):
wota stick it out and play thereeventually. Manning, of course, is
the grandson of Archie Manning and thenephew of Peyton and Eli likely to be
texas As starter in twenty twenty fivewhen you was expected to leave for the
NFL, and good on him.A lot of guys would have transferred out
for the playtime, but he gavehis commitment to Texas and sticking it out
(18:33):
there. It's going to be fascinatingto finally see what his, you know,
his career becomes. I'm always anytimesomebody sticks it out like that,
though I've always always given a likea little golf clap. I guess too,
you know, I never liked theidea of just bouncing around and kind
of being a mercenary until you finda school that's you know, that'll take
(18:56):
you that kind of stuff. Teasethis before we went to break, But
JaMarcus Russell, he is back inthe news. Russell, one of the
biggest busts of all time in theNFL, had a three year stint in
the NFL, has been removed fromthe coaching staff at at Alabama High School
(19:17):
after he was allegedly involved in themisappropriation of funds. Russell was a volunteer
assistant coach at Williamson High School inMobile as alma mater. The lawsuit alleges
that Russell took a seventy four thousanddollars check that was earmarked as a donation
of the high school. Mobile CountyPublic School spokesperson can confirm the top selection
(19:37):
in the two thousand and seven NFLdraft was relieved of his volunteer coaching duties
back in twenty twenty three. JaMarcusRussell was relieved of his volunteer coaching duties
at Williamson High School during the fallof last year, the official told WKRG
Sports. The owner of a localbuilding company said he'd been approached by Russell,
(19:59):
who had said a donat would helpthe football team buy equipment for their
weight room. The former NFL quarterbackis accused of depositing the check at a
credit union and then withdrawing and estimatedfifty five thousand dollars. According to lawsuit
Navigator, Credit Union is now suingRussell for fifty five thousand dollars as well
(20:22):
Mobile County Public School officials noted thatRussell is also banned from the high school's
grounds. However, Russell appeared toviolate the restriction when he recently attended an
event for the football team earlier thisweek. It was reiterated to mister Russell
that he's not permitted to be aroundthe football program or on school campus,
the school district said in a statementto WKRG. Russell, of course,
(20:42):
rose to prominence during a standout runat LSU. Ended his college football career
with sixty six hundred and twenty fivepassing yards and fifty two touchdowns, but
his time in the NFL was widelyviewed as disappointing. He was a starting
quarterback of the Raiders for twenty fivegames over three years, ending his career
(21:03):
with eighteen touchdowns and twenty three interceptions. His NFL career earnings just a shade
under forty million dollars for those threeyears. Russell was trying to make a
comeback at one point with the Jets. I think it's an offensive tackle,
(21:23):
but that didn't go very far. He'd put on so much weight. Sean
Payton back in May of twenty ten, when approached that it was not the
right time for the Saints to considersigning Russell out of It was newsworthy when
high draft picks are released so soonand players like Russell often get second chances,
(21:44):
but he never played another down inan NFL game. Russell moved to
Houston, Texas, and was workingout with NBA standout John Lucas, who
was consulting with him as a lifecoach, you know, workout with the
then Washington Redskins, but was notsigned. By November of twenty ten,
Russell had ballooned at two hundred andninety two pounds worked out for the Miami
(22:10):
Dolphins with four other quarterbacks to replacethe then injured Chad Pennington. The Dolphins
wound up signing Patrick Ramsey instead. In twenty eleven, John Lucas attempted to
arrange a meeting for Russell with theBaltimore Ravens and president Ozzie Newsom when Ravens
exec Newsom was in Mobile, Alabamafor the Senior Bowl. Newsom refused to
(22:34):
meet with Russell, however, andLucas, who had become frustrated with Russell's
work ethic, reportedly severed all tiesand asked him to leave the Houston area.
In twenty thirteen, Russell stated thathe was interested in returning to the
NFL would train with various NFL players, including Marshall falk and, Jeff Garcia
(22:55):
and Olympian Atto Bolden. His comebackattempt was documented by Bleacher Report in a
series called JaMarcus Russell's Rode Back tothe NFL. In May of twenty thirteen,
he and Rappaport reported Russell had returnedto his rookie weight of two hundred
and sixty five pounds. An interestfrom the Chicago Bears in Baltimore Ravens had
(23:15):
been reported. Russell tried out forthe Bears in June was allegedly a solid
performance, working out alongside free agentquarterbacks Trend Edwards and Jordan Palmer. Palmer,
of course, has gone on tobecome a quarterback trainer. The Bears
did not sign him, stating theywere not interested in adding a fourth quarterback
to the roster, but they didsign Edwards and Palmer two months later.
(23:38):
In April of twenty sixteen, Russelltold Sports Illustrated he'd written letters to all
thirty two NFL teams asking for atryout and pledging to play one year for
free, and not one team respondedto the letters and if all at com
Steve Wish claimed Russell's the biggest draftbust in history. Offington Post named him
one of the thirteen biggest draft bustsof the two thousands. Bill Williamson called
(24:00):
Russell a talented but extremely disappointed quarterback. Russell's two thousand and nine passer rating
of fifty was the lowest by astarting quarterback in the NFL since nineteen ninety
eight. His final stats during histenure as a Raider were a fifty two
percent cast completion eighteen to twenty threetouchdown interception ratio, fumbled twenty five times,
(24:21):
fifteen of those lost. No Oaklandplayer wore Russell's number two jersey number
during the regular season for several yearsafter his release. Marquette King broke that
during Oakland's twenty twelve preseason before beingplaced on injured reserve in twenty eleven,
Torrell Prior requested to wear number two, but was turned down by then head
(24:45):
coach Hugh Jackson. And June oftwenty twenty two, Russell wrote a personal
essay for the Player's Traboon titled y'alldon't know a damn thing about JaMarcus Russell,
and in the piece addressed his leanconsumption for those of you who don't
know it's the purple drink, andhis bust title, alleging that the first
(25:14):
time he had drank Cody and hewas fourteen years old. He allegedly mistook
a pineapple orange fago that was spikedfor a regular soda, but that was
the first time that he drank syrupwhen the last time. He went on
(25:38):
to talk about not liking painkillers andthe way that in college in the NFL
they were handed out like skittles, claims that he didn't love the game.
He would be sort of refuted. It's an interesting read if you get a
chance a while since that that coupleof years, and JaMarcus Russell's an interesting
(26:06):
case study. But stealing donation moneyallegedly for a high school, stealing from
kids, as we pointed out inthe opening segment, not really good to
ingratiate yourself to anybody. The NFLannounced today that Steelers corner Cameron Sutton has
(26:26):
been suspended without pay for the firsteight games of the season. League noted
in its announcement that Sutton violated theNFL's personal conduct policy in March. Sutton,
who was released by the Lions thatmonth, a day after the club
learned that a warrant was issued forhis arrest in Florida for one count of
domestic battery by strangulation. Steelers, who selected Sutton the third round of the
(26:49):
twenty seventeen draft, re signed thecorner in early June. Spent his first
six seasons in Pittsburgh before playing inDetroit last year. Sutton will be eligibly
reinstated October twenty ninth, after theSteelers play the Giants. In Week eight.
Ceedee Lamb announced on social media hewon't be answering contract questions. Ceedee
(27:14):
Lamb, who will be hosting hisyouth football camps this week, will not
answer questions about any contract negotiations. The Cowboys receiver will come to kids.
We'll welcome kids to his camp inTexas. On Tuesday, Wednesday and July
twentieth, Lamb made it clear hewon't entertain any contract questions in response to
a post by Brandon Lourie of Bloggingthe Boys, who wrote, if media
(27:36):
is present, it could be thefirst time Lamb speaks about his potential contract
situation. Lamb responded by saying, quote, I'm not speaking about any contract
negotiations. If that's your questions, you'll get zero answers. It's about the
kids, and good for Lamb fordoing that. The obvious question is how
long he plans to hold out inthe absence of an extension. He skipped
the team's offseason program, including MadatoryMini camp, so he's already got more
(28:00):
than one hundred thousand dollars in fines, and thanks to the new collect the
Bargaining Agreement, those cannot simply bewaived. They'll just be worked into the
contract. Cowboys first training camp practiceis July twenty fifth, out in Oxnard,
California. Lamb is currently not expectedto attend. He's set to make
seventeen point nine to nine million thisyear on the fifth year option. Eligible
(28:22):
for the franchise tag it's twenty twentyfive, but he wants to be paid
as one of the top receivers inthe NFL now. Running back is Ezekiel
Elliott and right guard Zach Martin bothheld out into training camp in recent summers,
and the Cowboys eventually gave both ofthem what they wanted before the season
started. Speaking of the Cowboys,Jerry Jones is heading to court again as
(28:47):
the plaintiff. Last month, Cowboysowner Jerry Jones appeared in court as a
key witness for the defendant. Nowhe'll be appearing as a plaintiff Violana Ferguson
of The Dallas Morning News. Juryselection begins on July nineteenth in Jones's breach
of contract claim against Alexander Davis andCynthia Davis, claims they violated and agreement
when they publicly claim that Jones isAlexander's father. The lawsuit was filed as
(29:12):
a counterclaim to a defamation suit thatAlexander Davis had filed against Jones and others.
The defamation claims, of course've beendismissed to making the breach of contract
allegations the only remaining claim in thecase. It's a case with the judge
that's giving it very thorough and carefulattention, and we're looking forward to trying
the case, not as much forthe money, although there's a significant money
(29:32):
involved, but rather to uphold thefact that when you make a deal and
one side lives up to the deal, as mister Jones did, the other
side show two. It's via Jones'sattorney, Chip Babcock. A separate paternity
case filed against Jones remains pending. In February, he was ordered to take
a DNA test. Jones contends thathe and the Davis has reached a settlement
agreement in nineteen ninety eight, andthe contract prevented them from suing or supporting
(29:55):
any suit to establish paternity. Alsorequired them to keep the sell in details
confidential. They allegedly received millions ofdollars under the agreement. Trial is set
to begin on July twenty second, and the Davis has deny any wrongdoing.
One important question becomes whether Alexander Davis, who would have been a minor at
the time, is even bound bythe agreement. Usually in such cases,
(30:18):
a guardian is appointed by a courtto review the document insure it's fair to
the child. Most states would notrecognize the existence of a binding contract for
a kid under the age of eighteen. Interesting that Jerry Jones is having to
go through yet another paternity lawsuit.Tayshawn Gibson says he accepts his suspension looks
(30:45):
forward to returning for Agent Safety Tea. Shawn Gibson got a six game suspension
last week, reportedly violating the NFL'spolicy on performance enhancing substitutes. On Monday,
Gibson released a statement accepting responsibility forthe suspension, while also noting he
intends to play in twenty twenty four, saying quote, during the offseason,
I took a supplement one time whichI thought to be completely safe and well
(31:08):
within any of the NFL's policies. It was in no related to performance,
training, or gaining an advantage ofany kind at any time. I competed
at this level long time, andnothing but respect for the game and the
fraternity of players in it. TheNFL's policy on performance in Tampa, substance
is cleared, and I take fullresponsibility for anything I put in my body.
It's a great disappointment that I acceptthe suspension, but I do so
knowing that I have never even attemptedto cheat the game. Look forward to
(31:30):
returning from my thirteenth NFL season andhelping a team compete for a championship.
Gibson turned thirty four in August, spent the last two seasons with the Niners.
Talis sixty tackles, three passes defense. The interception in sixteen regular season
games last year. Entered the league'san undrafted free agent in twenty twelve.
Gibson has appeared in one hundred andseventy three career games one hundred and sixty
(31:52):
five starts for the Browns, Jags, Texans, Bears, and forty nine
Ers. KCP posted a farewell toDenver on social media, and you guys
can get a chance and read that. I'm not going to read that one
(32:13):
out to you. LSU gymnast andhighest nil earner among women, Olivia Dunn
announced that she's returning to compete fora fifth year at LSU as a gymnast.
Paul George has agreed to the tomove to the Philadelphia seventy six ers,
but he said he never wanted toleave LA and called the Clippers offer
(32:35):
disrespectful. Georgia detailed this side ofthe talks and the Clippers on his podcast
podcast p with Paul George that waspublished today, and he said he never
wanted to leave LA, but thata disrespectful Clippers offer in October set the
tone for negotiations. Same quote, just to put it out there, I
never wanted to leave LA. Initially. I was not trying to leave La
(32:57):
la is home. This is whereI wanted to finish, to work as
hard as possible to win one. That was the goal to be here,
be committed la. As it playedout, though, like the first initial
deal was, I thought kind ofdisrespectful. Again in all this, no
hard feelings, no love lost. It's a business. But the first initial
deal was two years, sixty million, and I'm like, no, I'm
not signing that. George then saidthe Clippers went on to pitch him on
(33:20):
continuing to build around him and KawhiLeonard long term. Per George, the
Clippers went up inches after their initialoffer in October until they got to an
offer of forty or forty five millionannually. In January, Leonards signed a
fully guaranteed three year, one hundredand fifty million dollar extension. George said
he would have agreed to the samedeal during the season. George said that
(33:45):
he then cut off in season negotiationsat the All Star break, who plans
to pick up talks after the season. Clippers had offered him around three years,
one hundred and fifty million, similarto Leonard's deal, and he said
he counted with an offer to acceptthat deal if it came with a new
