Welcome to it Broncos Country tonight, but with all Brian Dick, Ferguson,

(00:03):
Grant Smith joining studio by one andonly Mile Lot, Mario marivitanzk O five
six six nine zeros in text lineand quite a few uh texts come in
people asking if people still watch baseballthe ratings would say no. Uh.
Mario says no too. Uh.Prophet says, good on your Mario for
calling out the filthy casuals. Alwaysseveral people challenging me in college football twenty

(00:26):
five. We'll we'll take that up. You guys know uh, you guys
know my PlayStation username. You justsay a challenge cer video. Yeah,
I'll put it on Twitch, wecan stream it. Yeah, I'll put
on Switch we can stream it.I don't like that stuff, so I
just, you know, keep inmind, why would have anybody, Why
would anybody want to watch that ifthey know what's coming and you do.
I'm just telling you, I justwant to I just want to watch for
the reaction of Ben and the peoplehe's playing. I'm calm man. I

(00:51):
don't want to watch the game. You want to see smack talking to them
that say that's what you want? You want to see me instigating people.
Well, I want to see youinstigate people, but I want to see
them back. Oh okay, Iwant I want to see someone lose their
faith in humanity because they play Benin n C Double Lakers. I'm I'm
running, I'm running shotguns because it'sbecause it's inexplicable. It's four yards and

(01:11):
a cloud of dust and play andyou for you to just steal their joy.
It's like, man, I've beenwaiting for this game for ten years
and now I hate it because ofthis one game I'm gonna play. I'm
gonna play Dashboard Confessional. Soul meetsbody like, soul leaves body like right
there underneath the right there underneath it. Quickly, Ben seemed like he's the
type of guy that would just youknow, back, take the snap back

(01:34):
up, and then take a kneeldown to the clock. Yeah. I
mean there are times that I havedone that. Like if I get to
the point where I'm like when theyget so mad, I'm like, I
tell you what, I'll kneel onfirst down. So so I only get
two downs to do this, Sowhy don't I have to do that in
order to keep the clock to watchingthat game would be like watching cement being

(01:57):
poured. It's like eventually the cementwill turn into something that you need and
something will be accomplished, but nobodywants to watch the cement dry. Watching
Jello Harden Delicious Halls. The textslide Joe Burrow came out and ripped off
my idea. Slash had ideas ofhis own. He ripped off your idea.

(02:20):
It's on Twitter. The tweets stillexists about my two my two bye
week idea posted. It's already posted. I would see. I haven't seen
of the tweet. The break I'vetalked about. Ben actually stole that from
me because when Ben and I dida show ten years ago and they talked
about extending the season, I hadsaid, if they do that, they
need to go to two bye weeks. So we're going really really back.

(02:42):
The origin of the idea Nick isfrom me, Well, I'm getting I'm
going through it. I'm gonna pullthis up, so no, because he's
gonna pretend like he's going through hisphone and this is really good radio that
I'm trying to call out Ben andhe's like, I'm we're busy. I
can't do anything right now because I'mon my phone. But those who don't

(03:05):
know sincanniy. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrowhas consistently made a public push for for
two by weeks. It's not likethis is something new. If the NFL
goes to an eighteen game schedule. He talked about the idea, which they
are seventeen is just say this hasalways been a thing. So he talked
about this idea in May because thiscame up about rest issues. Now his
idea is a little bit different inthe sense that he wants to move the

(03:28):
All Star Game, have a leaguewide bye week like right around week thirteen,
uh, and bring uh the AllStar festivities into that bye week,
which I don't agree with. Ithink, you know, it should just
be like you've got it well andyou have to focus on your season,
but you don't they have it afterthe season, because you can't have it
that late your mindset. Nick, you know this, you played football.

(03:51):
You can't just get out of thatin season mindset. And I no,
a bye week is a bye week, but just focusing your attention completely on
other football festivities, Like to me, it doesn't seem like it would be
super conducive to a competitive edge, and every coach in the league right now
is sitting here in panic, youknow why, getting a case of the
tight cheeks, thinking of all theirplayers having a week off and all going

(04:11):
to meet in Vegas for the youknow, for the Pro Bowls in the
middle season. See, that wasmy biggest concern. Now. I get
the fact of trying to make sureplayers are healthy, but cutting guys lose
at that stage of the season withteams still in playoff position. To me,
the offseason is always the most chaoticand the nerve racking, far as

(04:32):
coach is a concern. And toput it at that point, yeah,
I don't I don't know about that, but I feel as though with the
coach by Burrow suggesting what he's suggesting, it gives the owners something else to
think of as far as once againexpanding the season, taking away a preseason
game. Now we're going to reduceto now what two preseason games? Yeah,

(04:55):
and a scrimmage probably Yeah. Andfor me, it's more joint practice
stuff like that. Joy practices gotbetter than preseason games because as coach is
you can dictate with the other coachwhen you communicate we want live reps at
this and if you ever watched thejoy practice, I remember a couple of

(05:16):
years ago when the Cowboys came here, the intensity of the practice wrapped up.
So if you said, well,we're going to eliminate preseason games in
favor of joint practices, okay, well do you do two three of those
your favor of that? Yeah?Yeah, Going back to the bye week,
my proposal has always been two byeweeks and not doing the all start.

(05:36):
It's two starting the season, oneof which automatically comes before any Thursday
night game that you play, soyou're never playing Sunday and then on a
Thursday. There's always a bye weekendbetween that you're getting. You have plenty
of time to ramp up for ThursdayNight, which they should be doing anyway.
It's it's it's just ridiculous. Thefact that you're giving these grown men
basically three and a half days torecover from the equivalent of a crash to

(06:00):
go get in another car crashes isasinine to me. Do you think maybe
there's a reason that we so seldomsee a really good Thursday night football game?
There might be one or two droughoutthe season, like a really compelling
matchup. But for the most part, I would say usually the home team
plays or have the potential to playbetter because yeah, and I'm traveling on

(06:24):
a short week and we go andyou have that extra day of preparation.
Guys don't have to travel, theycan heal, they can go through their
routine. Because that was the biggestthing for me on Thursday Night Football was
that my routine was kind of brokenup. Like for me, I'm going
to see doctor for Tansey right thatthat was part of it. But now

(06:44):
I can't because usually I see himon the Friday. I can't because we
play on Thursday, and I can'tget in that day before because he's got
so many clients. So that's kindof the thing that they need to address.
Now. If you want to goto eighteen there, I say,
nineteen games, you know what expanded? You know it's coming. Every team
plays every other team. What's justthirty one games? I mean, but

(07:10):
I do believe that that and thenhaving the bye week before Thursday Night Football
is huge. I do believe thatnumber one makes more compelling products because we're
not seeing scale back offenses and teaguys that are beat down and worn down
from three days rest and then two. You know you got more time to
game plan that. Anytime you gotmore time to game plan you usually get
a better game out of it anyway, and it's a better product, right,

(07:30):
And at the end of the day, isn't that basically what they're chasing?
How can they make it not? It's just the dollar, yes,
money, because think about it,the league owners and man, bless their
hearts, they get their cash beforea game is even played. Fair They
don't care whether what Thursday night lookslike, Monday night look like. Guess

(07:51):
what, we already have the moneyin the bag and people are gonna watch
regardless, right anyway, Panthers Patriotson a Thursday night game, I don't
care. I'm watching it. Andpeople kind of cry and whine about Thursday
night football and how bad it is. But guess what, you know,
what you're gonna wast it was onyour fantasy team. What are you gonna
watch? What else are you gonnawatch? I mean, at that point,

(08:11):
the boys are going to be onon Thursday. I gotta watch something.
Yes, people are going to watch. I'm gonna watch Ben play n
C double a football and I'm surethat is definitely not mussy TV, not
at all. No one's do forthat. All can talk to me about
caring about players safe to when theystart putting bye weeks for teams before Thursday

(08:31):
night football games. I've been sayingthis for twelve years, two by weeks
per season per team. Also, just in case anybody's wondering what was happening,
that's twenty sixteen has been searching forthis tweet for the last five minutes,
which is why he's been completely checkedout of this kiracy. He wanted
to get all the way back totwenty sixteen when I proposed this eight years
ago. So so you proposed iteight years ago? When did you say
the conversation about ten to eleven yearsago? Okay, so I'm pretty now

(08:54):
I gotta go find it. Wesat it live on there. We're gonna
have to go find now. Now, let's go dig into the archives of
the bottom of the Barrel radio sportsstation and see if we can find it,
see if it still exists. Iknow it was a Saturday line has
several questions about people asking what happensto Bonix is not starting week one?
Does that mean anything? Because oneof the textures here says it means he's

(09:18):
not good enough for the coach, isn't good enough to win with him,
or the coach is in extreme gomode and think bo is a lesser option
at the time. If Bonix isn'tthe guy by week four, this particular
Texter thinks he's an official fail orbust for the year. Do we agree
with that? No, I totallydisagree with that, because the Broncos in
a situation where they really don't haveto force Bow into the mix. If

(09:39):
they want to assert a man,yes they can. And I know the
ideas that if you're drafted a quarterbackin the first round, you have to
start him day one and if hedoesn't start, then he is automatically a
bus no, because it takes timefor quarterbacks, no matter how smart you
are in your football IQ, tocome up to speed as far as being
able to make the was in gameadjustments. So if you want to slowly

(10:03):
roll him into it, I'm allfor that because I've seen quarterbacks thrown it
to the fire. And I knowthis whole idea baptism by fire, but
sometime that five gets too hot.Was was Josh Allen baptized by fire.
I said, yes, Ben,you're a well hold on, Ben,
you're a computer. Who was thebills starting quarterback before Josh Allen Tyro Taylor.

(10:24):
So do you think when they draftedJosh Allen that Bill's fans were panicking
that Tyrod Taylor was starting over JoshAllen at the beginning of that season.
I don't think so. I meanRavens fans panicking that Joe Flacca was starting
over Lamar Jackson. Yes, therewas. There was absolutely outrage and all
that us of tiff anytime, andhe didn't start. What you were reminded
either of the end of the season, it was because Flacko got hurt right

(10:48):
after Mahomes played one meaningless game.Is right here. And the bottom line
is, and not to draw directcomparisons to these situations, they are different.
The bottom line is you don't haveto be named the starter week one
of your rookie season as a quarterbackto be a successful quarterback. As a
matter of fact, if you lookat pretty much all of the top quarterbacks

(11:09):
in the NFL right now, theywere not starting week one of the rookie
season. Justin Herbert. Justin Herbertfor Tyron Taylor again. Man, that
guy can't catch a break. Maybethe Broncos should have Steve de berg R,
you know, letting up the guys, let Tyron Taylor start the season.
Something's gonna happen to him. Bonnicksis gonna be a bona fide superstar.

(11:30):
We've already seen it. But that'sthe point. It's like, anybody
saying that he's not the starter weekone means he's an absolutely, is an
automatic bust is short sighted, It'swrong. We see it like, like
I just said, the majority ofthe stud quarterbacks right now, like the
top five quarterbacks in the league, the majority of them were not starting Week

(11:50):
one. In fact, a lotof them weren't starting until at least midway
through the season. Now, wouldyou like to see bon Nicks, in
this specific scenario be the week weekone starter? Absolutely? Yeah. That's
gonna make give me the warm fuzziesa little bit more than if he's the
backup. But it's not gonna makeor break my my depiction of the guy,
because for me, it's not howa guy starts, is how he

(12:13):
finishes and how does he how doeshe grow, how does he get better
throughout the season, It's like ifhe starts rocky and he improves, I
don't care if he's starting week oneor week six. From the time that
he starts to the end of theseason, did he grow as a quarterback?
Did he improve? That's the mostimportant thing that Bronco fans need to

(12:33):
keep an eye on this season isbone Nick's understanding the offense. Is he
running the offense? Does he lookcompetent? Is he improving week to week?
The text is clarified, not abust a bust for the year.
And I don't I don't. Iguess I don't look at it like that.
I think, how can this yearhe doesn't start? Yeah, start
this season? I think that thisseason is so Sean Paik's gonna be back

(12:54):
after this season, no matter whathappens. He is, matter how much
they've traded for him, and theycan go oh and say he's going to
be the coach by how much they'repaying him and how much they invested in
him, He's gonna be back nextyear. This year is about getting bon
Nicks ramped up to the point wherehe can take over next year. That's
what it is. Whether that's weekone or Week eighteen, right, And
the biggest thing is that even though, like we know the song between Sean

(13:16):
Payton and Russell last year, sothis is kind of the first time that
we can say that Sean Payton andI'm giving you air quotes, here has
his quarterback, and now we geta chance to see what what he can
do with this team with this quarterback. And let's be totally transparent by this
situation. I'm not expecting the Broncosand I know no one is making the

(13:37):
super Bowl. Going eight to nine, that's a hell of a year for
the team having a rookie quarterback androokie quarterbacks and guy rookies at every position
typically struggle in their first season anyway, So it's kind of like, I
don't want to say, tip ofyour expectations, but Puffier breaks just a
little to allow this guy to actuallyhave his stumbles and then show that he

(14:01):
can rebound from those mistakes and growinto the player he can be. I
think that fans when you get therookie quarterback, though, especially the first
round rookie quarterback, fans are excited. They want to see that guy.
It doesn't necessarily have to be thefirst rounder. I mean we've seen QB
thirst here before. I specifically rememberthis fan base chanting and cheering for Chad
Kelly, who if you had watchedthat game, if you had watched practice,

(14:24):
Case Keenum was was so much betterthan Chad Kelly. Like Chad Kelly
was abysmal in practice. You don'tunderstand, but the fan base was trying
to tell you that Chad Kelly iswhat they needed to start or whatever.
The Chad came in and kneeled theball that one time, and the fan
base was boovade him and cheering, fag Kelly, We're going blistic. When
he came out onto the field, they were like, it's happening and he

(14:46):
just came in for a neil.Yeah, it came in for a kneel
down because Chad, I think Caselike bumped his thumb or something on a
helmet and head to get them anyway. But I just I think that the
thirst for young quarterback play and thepotential of what can be is so tantalizing
for fans. They forget like, hey, you got to put this guy
in the best position to succeed. But this is why, you know,
I look at fantasy football and everyonelikes to view sports through the prism of

(15:11):
fantasy sports, and for me,that's not how real life works. It's
like you want to force players inbecause that's what you want, But the
idea is that is it the bestthing for the team at that moment?
Is it the best thing for thatplayer at that moment? Who was to
say week one of the season, jars Didham isn't the starter for the first
possession? And then bow Knicks goesin? Then what if bo Knicks has

(15:35):
a successful ten plus year career andhe's everything that we want him to be.
Do you think people will look backand care when it was that he
started. No, it's where youfinish, not where you begin. It's
the same way Kansas City fans don'tcare where Pat Mahomes started that last game
of the season against at Denver Broncos. When Alex Smith was starting all year,

(15:56):
they got Pat Mahomes. Now theydon't care about the rest of that.
I think it's the same way withChargers fan when Phil Rivers was there,
or you know, any number ofquarterbacks. Car Carson Palmer didn't start
year one when he was with theyou know, the Cincinnati Bengals, says
Peyton Manning is is honestly a raritywho started every game. How how you

(16:17):
think Colts fans were a little bitworried after Peyton Mannings were worried after year
free with Peyton Manning. I rememberthe narratives that, oh, he's never
going to be you know, wehad all those hyphenies, and then he
exploded. I mean, he keptgetting better, but then he exploded after
year three. That's the most importantpart. That there was growth and there
was improvement. And as long aswe see marketable growth and improvement from bone

(16:38):
Knicks this season, that should beyour expectation as a Bronco fan. Wins
losses, Ye'd be nice to win, but he has to get better when
we come back to the NFL sixpack, Broncos Country tonight. Welcome back
to it, Broncos Country Tonight.Benjamin ol Brighten, Nick Ferguson, Grant
Smith here with you, sitting inwith us is Mario Vitanzi. Will take
it up to the eight o'clock hourto me and we got Kaway's coverage of

(17:02):
the Republican National Convention of the ABCNews coverage of the Republican National Convention right
here on KA It would be thesame thing tomorrow night as well. And
with that news, I need todrink me a six pack. It's time
for the NFL six pat I'm gonnatrade that last year an insight and inside
information you can't find anywhere else.No. Six the top six NFL headline

(17:26):
what the New York Jets explored thepossibility of hiring an offensive coordinator to coordinate
the offense coordinated by Nathaniel Hackett. An offensive coordinator who did the job well
enough in Tennessee to become a headcoach, was contacted. As reported by
Diana Rossini, the coach that wascontacted was Arthur Smith to talk about the

(17:48):
possibility of being part of the playcalling process. However, it has been
confirmed that while there were communications,Arthur Smith was not interested, in part
because the role was not the jobSmith has now Steelers offensive coordinator is the
one that Arthur Smith wanted once itwas offered. That was that the report
makes far more tangible the reporting thatthe Jets were looking for someone who had

(18:08):
supervised the man who supervises the offense. The mort direct approach would have been
to just fire Hackett hire a realcoordinator, and that might have happened if
the starting quarterback who wanted Hackett tobe the offensive coordinator would have allowed it.
Is this at this point comical withthe Nathaniel Hackett stuff. Is it
sad? Or where are we atwith it? He heeds the coach coach?
It is comic who it is sad? But let's be totallyanas, gentlemen.

(18:32):
They already have their oc in thebuilding. There is Aaron Rodgers,
right, so you and you're alreadypaying it a lot of money even if
Hackett was giving those duties as thoughhe has a title, Aaron Rodgers changing
the plays anyway, yea. AndNathaniel Hackett has the has the title,
but he's there to carry out Rodgersbriefcase. Their boss. That's Aaron Rodgers,

(18:53):
buddy. And it's objectively hilarious thatwhen he was in Denver they had
to hire a coach coach, acoach that literally coached Nathaniel Hackett on how
to be a coach. And hewas not even a head coach. He's
an offensive coordinator and they need tohire a coach to coach the coach to
babysit them. Yeah. Two allspeaking of Rodgers, Davante Adams agent Is

(19:14):
refuted Trey rumors about the receivers today, calling the baseless unfounded speculation. Adams
tried to do his part to squashthe talk during Sennon Sharpp's Club Shashy podcast
released Wednesday. Adams, though appearto leave the door open for a future
reunion with Aaron Rodgers despite being lockedin with the Raiders, quotes saying,
if I were to be reunited withanybody, would be Aaron or relocated anywhere,
it would be with Aaron. Hetold Sharp via Paul Gudierres of ESPN.

(19:37):
There's a lot of stuff last yearthe media with them asking, they
talk about whatever, without me evenbeing involved in it. I ended up
getting all the way to the pointwhere it got in the locker room and
people were thinking I was the drivingforce. Adams made the Pro Bowl five
times with the Packers. Rogers stokedthe rumors of reunion during the American Century
Golf Championship in Lake Tahoe last week, telling a fan, I love Davante,

(19:57):
I can't wait to play with him. Rogers current wide receiver one Garrett
Wilson said he's in favor of anAdams trade to New York Packers running back
Josh Jacobs, who was a teammatewith Adams in Las Vegas, as you
reached out to Adams about her turnto Green Bay. Adams though, he
is staying right where he is atleast for the time being. And I
talked to somebody there in Las Vegas. They have absolutely no interest in trading

(20:17):
DeVante Adams at all. Of coursethey won't having the idea of trading him.
He's one of the better receivers inthe NFL. But I wouldn't be
surprised if there was talks, because, like you said, Josh Jacobs,
I guess kind of alluded that hehints it to Adams about maybe a reunion
in Green Bay and Drew in Loveis playing well. All you have to
do to know that these talks werepossibly true is watch the Netflix special Receiver

(20:45):
and watch how DeVante Adams respond toJimmy Garoppolo. Yeah, he teammate deny
it, but he was thinking aboutit. He hated that gulp. Of
course he's gonna say, I don'tknow, like like, I'm good here
and I would only go there inthe raid. It's like, oh,
we're absolutely not going to trade him. It's just posturing they're trying to get
in a better position. If theRaiders get an offer that they can't refuse,

(21:07):
then they're going to trade Davonte Adams. If DeVante Adams is as unhappy
this year as he was last year, then he's going to be done before
the trade deadline. That's just howit is. It's a tale as old
as time. The cat bump theacceleration to trade this year would bump him
up to a little with thirty million, which seems to be prohibitive. However,
after the season, there's almost noguaranteed money, so he could very
much be of trade candidate after thisseason. Free Hard Knocks has not been

(21:30):
ideal for the Giants thus far, could soon be problematic for another team.
Third episode of the series creates theimpression that someone was tampering with running back
Saquon Barkley. The show opens withgeneral manager Joe Shane taking a call from
Barkley's agent eight at Barry, andit seems to be based on the rest
of the episode and Shane's ultra kindof casual work attire, a call that
happened on the weekend before the openingof the negotiating window on March eleventh.

(21:53):
During the conversation, Shane acknowledges thatBarry was going to see what else was
out there before giving the Giants achance to match. It was kind of
the whole point, Shane says, you go out and find out what it
is. I'll just say, yeah, we're not going to be able to
do that, or yes we can. Barry apparently informed Shane regarding what else
is out there twelve point five milliona year, which twenty five million guaranteed,
and it's clear that if the Giantsoffer that, Barkley will take that.

(22:14):
Said, it's unclear which team thatnumber came from. Later in the
episode, Shane says he's hearing theBears are driving up the price and the
Eagles are out, So maybe itwas the Bears, or maybe it was
the Eagles who ultimately landed him.Maybe it was someone else. Next question,
because when the NFL will do anythingabout it, and exonerating the Eagles
for speaking directly to Barkley during thefifty two hour negotiating. Whatever the league
said, as with every review, should do evidence be uncovered, the league

(22:34):
may be open to reinvestigation. TheEagles were the team talking to Barry before
March eleventh, that would count asnew evidence and a potential violation and would
be tampering. Do we care abouttampering during the illegal tampering window at all?
No? I mean, for me, hey kick rocks with this because
they tamper all the time, andwhen they go to Indy, right,

(23:00):
working guys out teams are their gemsare there, they are are agents there,
so the conversation and collusions starts atthat point. But also there's nothing
to investigate Joe Shane and Brian Dabel. They made it well away to everyone
else that they were kicking Saquon Barkleyto the curve. I mean, Dame
Jones got a massive a contract.Should they have given it to Saquat,

(23:22):
Absolutely, but ideas that you gotto pay the quarterback. So I don't
really don't care about this, andthere's no tampering here. The tampering is
like the whose line is it anyway of the NFL where the points are
made up and the score doesn't matter. It's like it's all arbitrary. People
were tampering so much that they hadto introduce a legal tampering period, which

(23:42):
is hysterical because it's still before you'reactually allowed to do anything in free agency,
and so what do they do now? They bumped it up a little
bit, So now there is alegal tampering happening before the legal tampering that
happens before free agency. It's stupid. Just let teams do whatever they want
they do anyway, I'm fair enough. Four. If Sam Hartman, in
the file of the rookie quarterbacks don'tmake it in the NFL, they have

(24:04):
an opportunity waiting for him in anotherleague. Six of the quarterbacks drafted today
by the UFL are currently on NFLrosters. Birmingham Stallions took Sam Hartman in
the ninth round. The Arlington Renegadestook UCF quarterback John Reyes Plumbley round one.
DC Defenders took YU quarterback Keaton Slovasin round two, Wisconsin quarterback Tenor
Mordecai in round nine. The Memphisshow Book took Kansas quarterback Jason Being in

(24:26):
round one, The Michigan Panthers tookNorthern Illinois quarterback Rockey Lombardy in round five,
and the Saint Los BattleHawks took SanJose quarterback Keevin Cordillero in round one.
Only Cordiero, who was signed bythe Seahawks and released in early May,
isn't currently on an NFL roster.Hartman side with the Commanders after the
draft. Plumley is currently on theSteelers slovas with the Colts. Mordecai the
Niners being for the Colts, andLobardi for the Bengals. Do does this

(24:49):
bump interest in the UFL at allfor next season with these quarterbacks being drafted
by them? Just to Tad,because these are the tactics that were are
employed by the CFL guys who arecurrently own the NFL rosters. Those guys
are drafted or self teams have theirright. So this is the way for
the USFL to keep their pool oftalent constantly growing because no one is though

(25:12):
guys can get plugged off their rosterto NFL roster, you gotta have that
talent constantly coming in to be ableto sell the game. So I like
this idea. It's an uphill battle. The way that the USFL is ever
gonna gain any traction and ever bereally watchable is if you have a lot
of recognizable household names on those rosters, and there's just not that many of

(25:33):
them. I mean, if youlined up every single player in the USFL,
the typical football fan, like agood football fan, might be able
to be able to pick up fouror five of them. So why do
they really care? Why are peoplegonna watch? I like the idea,
like it sounded funny at first, but it's like, there's obviously not a
guarantee that any of these guys makean NFL roster. This is a safety
net for them. So I likeit. But if we're talking about in

(25:56):
terms of making it more watchable orimproving the product, but if you don't
have recognizable household names on those teams, people aren't gonna get cast the WNBA,
well, well you're not gonna havehousehold names because those household names are
in the NFL and settling for secondtier talent because you are second tier league.
You have to hope for guys likea Josh Gordon. When Josh Gordon

(26:18):
was in the XFL last year,he got a couple of splash plays.
Maybe somebody like that who it didn'tpan out in the NFL for one reason
or another. It's provocative, getssome people going they want to watch,
but it's not gonna make it morewatchable. It's nothing but a filter system
to the NFL. Five Well, the deal is finally done a day after
pretty much everybody pretty maturely reported thatBears quarterback Kayla Williams had sign a four

(26:40):
year rookie contract. The process includedsome creativity by Williams camp regarding tax issues.
There was an attempt to get kaylebWilliams paid as an LLC. The
Collective Bargaining Agreement doesn't seem on theservice to foreclose that approach, but the
league decided that it does, andthe Bears were told by the NFL the
player's money can't go to a businessentity other than the player. Another approach
emerged from the concept over a forgivableloan, which would have resulted in Williams

(27:04):
getting the money tax free until theloan was forgiven as many as ten years
into the future. The Bears, through the NFL, also mixed that policy.
Outside the Box's ideas aren't crazy.Kail's father worked for years in commercial
real estate, and the ideas thathe brought to the table work, I
guess, you know, potentially revolutionary. Unfortunately they'd ever got off the ground.
Nobody has eyes on the final contractthat he's expected to get all of

(27:27):
his signing bonus soon, but questionsrelate to language that will avoid future guarantees,
along with the question with the bearswill be entitled to offsets are really
kind of the only things that ultimatelywound up out of this. How do
we feel Aboutkayleb Williams trying to getcreative with how he was getting paid.
I like the idea he was tryingto get creative coming out of the draft,
but when we look at how contractsare structure, we are used to

(27:48):
just kind of an old way ofdoing it. But trying to be a
little creative and trying to go toback door as far as LLC, where
are you factor in the lack oftaxes. You got to give him right
for at least trying to do somethingthat no one else at least the tipted
before right. Russell Wilson tried tobring some ideas to the table in his
previous contracts. With his last contractwith the Seahawks, he was trying to

(28:11):
do certain things like a scaled basedon the salary cap and all kinds of
suff But all these revolutionarideas have fallenflats. As far I don't care.
You secure the bag, do whatyou gotta do. We've come a long
way from Caleb Williams wanting was itstock and whatever team drafts him. A
lot of people were upset about that. Though you have the audacity, It's
like, hey, ask. Theworst thing that they can say is no,
like money is money. I respectgetting as much money as you want,

(28:34):
regardless sick. United Airlines has apologizedto Hall of Fame running back to
real Davis after the incident that ledto him being handcuffed and removed from a
flight. Will that be enough?Davis, his wife, and his attorney
appeared on CBS Good Morning This ThisWednesday Today to discuss the incident, which
he called a disgusting display of thejustice. His attorney, Parker Stonnar,

(28:56):
said legal action is being considered. They need to be held accountable. We'd
love to see policy change. Wethink that's very important, beginning with a
sincere, true apology. Davis andhis wife to be Gover flying with their
three children from Denver to Orange Countyfor a family vacation at Disneyland. David
said he tapped the flight attendant's armto get his attention, and the flight
attendant accused Davis of hitting him onlanding. Law enforcement boarded the flight to

(29:18):
handcuff and remove Davis from the flight. That moment, I felt all my
dignity, I felt powerless, Ifelt embarrassed, Davis told Gail King.
Stan Allers said interviews if Davis andother passengers convinced law enforcement the flight attendant
statement was false service leading. Theproblem is the scars that took place and
the trauma that took place going toimpact his family forever. Equally as important,
we have heard from dozens of otherUnited passengers that have experienced similar conduct
events, and sadly, I don'tknow why it happened for mister Davis.

(29:41):
Most people aren't even handcuffed. Unitedhas removed the flight attendant from service until
further review. Davis played his entireseven career year career here in Denver,
was the NFL MVP in ninety eightand the Super Bowl thirty two MVP.
What if anything makes this right forTerrell Davis A whole lot of money,
David, Airlines come fly to thefront of this, guys, Yes,

(30:03):
toutout Airlines. That's what you need, right, That's how you resolved this
issue, because I mean Just thinkabout the embarrassment, not just for TD
be in the Hall of Fame, but just for anyone, you know,
being sheriffs by FBI agents coming ontothe plane, usher year out in handcuffs.
To me, that's embarrassing. Thenhow traumatizing it probably was for his

(30:26):
kids. So to me, yes, you got to put the money in
the bag. That's the only thingthat they can do. But for me,
it's like, there's nothing that's gonnareverse it. There's nothing that's gonna
make it better. The bad thinghappened, and it should never in a
million years have ever happened. Buthere we are. I mean, unless
you are able to buy a Doloreanand go back in time and you fire
this employee before they're able to dothat, nothing is gonna make it right.

(30:49):
So, yeah, get the bag, paying money, but the damage
has been done. You can't reversewhat they did. Yeah, I don't
know if there's anything that makes itright. You know, you can.
You can try to make it betterwith with money, you know, as
far as that goes, And theyneeded to give him, they need to
give him a mile high stack ofmoney with that he can salute to,
you know, to kind of coverfor that, but uh, it'd be

(31:10):
interesting. I do. I wantto hear from the flight attendant why in
the world they did this, becauseI just I'm curious. Uh. Knowing
TD as I do, I can't. I can't imagine he would ever write
somebody as far as that goes.I mean, you know, we've all
been around TD and off. Youknow, he's one of the nicest,
most genuine people you will ever.Everyone works behind the scenes to better other

(31:30):
people. Like in the interest offull disclosure, Uh, TD got me
a televised gig, a one offtelevised gig, just just out of the
blue, like I didn't even knowhe was doing it, and I got
called up by them and he said, yeah, you were recommended by Terrell
Davis. You know, he'said itwants to come in shoot a show,
this kind of thing. It wasfor a betting thing and all that kind
of stuff. Aside from being anoccasional poor judge of character, he's a
great person. That's a but I'mjust saying, like he works for the

(31:52):
betterment of other people. I've neverseen him, you know, I certainly
he has the capability and certainly theability to exhibit great Vie lets if he
would would would choose Basically, I'venever even seen him lift a finger.
I mean, you know, truestory. I didn't realize that he just
had the back surgery. When hedid, he came up, you know,
or dap each other up wherever Igive them the backpad. I gave
it a little too hard and hewas clearly in pain. They didn't even

(32:15):
say he say, hey, man, I just have back surgery. You
know, just keep it liak thatthat was the extent of his anger on
that well. Well find financial conversationwill not change what he and his family
experience on United Airlines. You haveto say it makes things a little more
easier now changing policies as far asUnited, it just seems to be what
they're after. Yes, they definitelyneed to do that, but having that

(32:38):
financial contribution would make United Airlines orany other flight attendant, I don't care
who you are, male, female, white to black, think about how
you treat other passengers on the airplane. They need to give him like the
Black card where you just get unlimitedflights, no questions as you pop up
on a day the flight supposed totake off, and just like hey,

(32:58):
I need to see kicking your puffinsomebody, I'll kicking somebody does on the
flight right, Terrell Davis is gettingyour seat. Would would you fly?
Would you fly in airline again? After that? No? They gave me
a black Arcord fly for free anywhereI want to go. Then we can
talk. Are we talking globally?Yeah? Okay, if we're talking gloss
anywhere? Nick Fersusen on a Tuesdayat three am to Turks and Caicos.

(33:22):
I need you to chart an andhe gets a plus one because he's bringing
Mario, assuming that you turnaround flytoo. Coverage. ABC News coverage of
the Republican National Convention coming up rightnext right here on KOA. Appreciate you
join us from Broncos Country tonight hereon KA fifty ninety four, NFL News.
