tomorrow the Rockies Tomorrow night as well, So Tomorrow night's show will be a
short show an available on the podcast. If you guys miss anything, you
can always go to Broncos Country Nightdot com, Slaze podcast or where you
(00:44):
get your podcasts in order to getevery episode. Nick, how you doing
this evening? I see you've gotthe Rob low hat. Rob Lowe that
just says NFL on it. Oh, I haven't seen that. You haven't
seen that. It was a wholething. Yeah, he went to a
game and he wore a hat thatjust had the NFL logo on it.
No, I'm just wearing this, man, because I'm just getting geared up
(01:07):
for what's going to take place nextweek. You show me a blank screen
hold on the cable all this thing. It's blak, Ben, What are
you trying to tell me? Itwas not blank? Here? This is
how you play Madden, right, you just kind of do this in between
plays. Oh yeah, that's kindof the traditional NFL the NFL logo hat.
He was I can't remember where hewas, but he was at he
(01:30):
was at some game or whatever, and that was the thing. He was
wearing an NFL logo hat. Everybody'slaughing at hm because he the roof for
a team. He roots for theleague, like is a noted Colts fan.
Like that's the thing. So well, it's rare that you see a
logo hat like I am wearing beingworn by anyone else other than I guess
(01:51):
rib Blow and maybe NFL officials. But I am making it official, right
that you can wear these hats outsideof being an official referee for for the
team. Man, they're actually nicehats. Man. Nice is blue,
not blackly thrilled, but basically, yeah, this is the NFL logo hat
they get. I want an NFLlogo hat. Now I don't want fitted,
(02:13):
but I want an NFL logo hat. Well, if you look at
most of the NFL teams, theyhave the logo, but it's it's small.
It's on the back of the hat, like this little logo right here.
Yeah, but you don't see toomany out at your local places where
you can buy these. You actuallyhave to go on NFL shop dot com
(02:34):
in order to purchase these types ofhats. But this is me rep in
the league, you know, gettingmy mind ready for next week. Yeah,
we've got training camps starts. Yeah, I'll be out there next Friday.
Obviously everybody from from Koa would beout there. I believe we're gonna
have some live broadcast I think fromout there all that kind of stuff.
So, uh, that'll be alot of fun. What do you Is
there a person I mean, obviouslyeverybody's gonna say about next because that's what
(02:57):
everybody says. But is there aperson you're most looking forward to to seeing
a training camp and kind of gettingyour eyes on you. No, No,
it's no one single person I'm lookingat. I'm looking at a group
as a whole, because when youlook at the Broncos defense in the secondary
especially, you don't have that veteranpresence that we've been used to for the
past couple of years, and thatbeing like i'll say, Kareem Jackson,
(03:20):
but more importantly, there's no JustinSimmons. So now I want to see
how the guys who are presumed startersare going to lead this team moving forward.
And it's a very exciting time becausethose guys start taking those steps during
OTA's and mini camp because there wasa lot of energy or as we say
(03:43):
in the coaching ranks, there's alot of juice, right and this kind
of like rejuvenation that I haven't seenaround here in a while. So I
want to see a carry over inthe training camp. Yeah, there are
some players I do have my eyeon. I mean, you know,
I know everybody's gonna be focused onthe quarterbacks, but set that aside for
a minute. In order for anyof those quarterbacks to be successful, there's
gonna have to be some players thatstep up this year. Marvin Mims is
(04:05):
going to have to come into hisown in his second year as as as
a wide receiver, gonna need tosee big production out of him, you
know, in his because really interms of you know, burners and get
loose guys, he's kind of atthe top of the list for the Denver
Broncos. You've got guys who canplay possession ball at Courtland Sutton and you
know Tim Patrick and uh, youknow, and josh Reylds is good at
(04:25):
a slot. But as far asget loose burner types, I mean you
really you look at it at youknow, practice squad level guys like Jalen
Virgil or you're looking at uh,You're looking at Mims who was drafted to
be that guy, uh and cominginto his second year. So I'm looking
to see that the edge rushers. You got some guys that are coming up
for new contracts. You know,is a guy like Baron Brown I'm gonna
put it all together this year.Is Nick Benito gonna take that that next
(04:47):
step into the into the stratus sphere. How does a rookie like Jonah Ellis
look up front? Because those thosepass rush uh, those pass rushers,
they they impact how you guys playon the back end, you know,
absolutely they do. I want togo back to one thing, you said
and push back a little like you'resaying, Marvin Mamms has to come into
his own for me. Last seasonhe did that because as a rookie,
(05:13):
usually guys don't make the impact thatMams made. I know he made the
Pro Bowl on special teams, butthat goes to show the explosive plays that
he could make. And you goback to the several games that you can
go to and say, well,Marvin with Marvin Mims was a huge impact.
The Dolphin game, a game whereI mean it just seemed like a
(05:33):
lopsided loss for the Denver Broncos, but there were subtle bright spots and he
was one of them. I thinkhe flashed plenty last year. He didn't
get the opportunities, but he alsoI mean it was a limited route tree.
I mean he was running bang eight, bang nine, and that was
pretty much it. I mean theygave him some some handoffs and some stuff
like that. This wasn't an advancedroute tree that he was out there running
(05:54):
those handoffs. I really didn't likeit. That was a guy that you
want to make sure that he ispushing up the field. I think what
was it the game against the Commanderswhere he was on the left side of
the field and Russell found him anexplosive play. That's what I would I'm
just saying last year that gave him. I mean it was it wasn't that
(06:15):
many. It was with nine handoffs, I think it was, and he
got two first downs out of it. The handoffs, it just felt like,
uh, it felt like they weretrying something. See that's Jillian McLoughlin.
He's the guy you get the handoffstoo, right, right, But
when you talk about pure explosive playsdown the field that I know Sean Payton
is so used to from his daysin the Wallace, that that is memes
and right now people have seen memson tape. And when you see him
(06:40):
and you don't have to put himout, why, I'm like most of
him down. Put him in theslot. Use him like Mike McDaniels,
use uses Jaylen Wattle, Use himlike that in that framework where even if
you don't throw it to him,he's a threat and he's going to push
all the right thing safety and pullinghim back. Yeah, that's exactly I'm
with you wholeheartedly on that. II just feel like he needs to be
(07:01):
and whether that was him not beingused that way, or whether that was
him not being able to be usedthat way. It was a limited route
tree last year, and I'd liketo see more than just him stepping down
for the screen or hitting an eightor a nine. You know, as
far as that now, I lovehim being the clear out guy. I
love him being the guy whose speedon the field clears you out. I
always called it the will Fuller effectbecause when will Fuller got on the field,
quarterback EPA went up just by virtueof him clearing guys out with a
(07:24):
speed and necessitating a safety over thetop. Even if will Fuller wasn't a
star player, we'll see, here'sthe way I look at it. Like
we pushed back on on Twitter onetime, like he was He's like,
what do you mean, I'm nota star player? Man. You know,
when we had Coast Landing on beforethe draft and we were talking about
a couple of players who could getdrafted and how they would fit in the
(07:46):
framework if they were drafted by theDenver Broncos, who of those players are
now here? Bow Nakes and TroyFlankron. So when I when I think
about what this offense could look like, think about what ted Gin was the
Saints offense. Now take in hadBernard for days. Cook's only problem was
(08:07):
catching the damn ball. Right,It was like Clifford Franklin in the replacements,
right, Yes, yes, it'slike Clifford Franklin. Is like a
common code. You don't want tocatch it, want to come down with
it. Yes, So that's whatbecause actually know who knows, just a
(08:28):
cousin. But with Memes and Franklinon the field, to me, this
team can actually do damage because Icould tell you from a guy in the
secondary. Sometimes your eyes you gotto see the entire field, but sometimes
you get tunnel vision and you gettone of vision on play action. This
is why the Broncos cannot abandon therun game. I don't care if they
(08:52):
get two yards of Clint, don'tabandon it because defensive linebackers and safeties like
Mark to a flame man, theireyes get sucked in and that receiver run
right past him. Those who guyscould be top explosive guys for the Broncos.
Well, I'm I'm you know. That's there are a lot of things
I'm looking at Over on the defensiveside, I mentioned the edge rush.
(09:13):
I think that I think that thatthat's gonna be something that it really makes
this thing go, because we're gonnawant it. We're gonna see We're gonna
see Vance Joseph run something a littlebit different. Vance last year was was
kind of had a continuity thing withwhat Vic and Agero Overo had run.
Uh, you saw a lot moretight front. You saw you know,
(09:35):
a lot more quarters match in theon the back end, that kind of
stuff. I don't think you wantto see that as much this year.
Vance is a is a C oneguy. He's a he's a middle of
the field, closed man guy wholikes to send everything. And I think
they got a deep enough rotation atthe edge to be able to try that
out and try to run that.If you look at some of the acquisitions
they made, Uh this get gettingFranklin Myers. You know, it seems
to suggest that you're going to seemore of what Vance wants to run,
which is that you know that twofour five, you know looks as far
(09:58):
as as far as your base alignmentand and really you know, getting after
the quarterback with you know, allowingthose those interior guys to eat up blockers
and letting linebacker shoot the gaps aswell, which is what he used to
do. Todd Davis used to bethat guy with shooting the gaps, you
know, and so I think,uh, I think you're going to see
more of that this year. Butthere was an interesting conversation you brought to
our attention. It was I thinkit was Rob Gronkowski was on with with
(10:20):
Danny Amadola talking about talking about theimpacts that an edge rusher can make and
Von Miller. Don Miller is ridiculous, Bro. I think he has the
fastest get off in all of footballon the defensive side of the ball.
He's a smaller guy. He's asmaller outside linebacker, defensive end. He
could play it all if you gota hold of him. Yeah, you
(10:41):
could block him, but that's ifyou got a hold of him. He
was so slippery, he was soslimy, And I talked him in a
good way, I mean, becauseyou couldn't get your hands on him,
because he was just that quick andagile load to the ground. I swear
he was like getting off on thesnap count before ever offen the player would
get off. Because of Von Millerand his get off, we actually had
(11:05):
to introduce double Denver, which wasthis on two silent count. For when
we were playing in away games inlike a stadium where you couldn't hear,
we had to put in a doubleDenver because he wasn't just like getting off
the ball. He was reaching whilehe was getting off the ball. That's
what made him that good. Abeep noise there, I thought somebody was
beeping in on the phone. Fora second time. I forgot about that.
(11:26):
Yeah, the interesting comment. Imean, everybody knows how good von
Miller was, but I think hehit the nail on the head there.
One of the things that was sofascinating about him was his bend and the
ability to get low. He waslike running. He was like running full
speed under a table, you know, and the human body isn't made to
do but somehow von Miller could dothat. But also talked about the intellects.
You know, von Miller'd be gettingoff and reading the play as he
was getting off the line, andthat's what made him special. And you
(11:50):
know, the Denver Broncos for along time have been noted for their superior
edge rush. That hasn't really beenthe case lately. That hasn't been the
case in a few years. Imean, obviously von Miller was traded to
the Rams, then went on tothe you know the Bills. You hit
Bradley Chubb, get moved to MiamiDolphins. You know Shaq Barrett before that
had left to go get paid bythe Bucks. You know DeMarcus where retired.
(12:11):
I mean, there really hasn't beenthat. And now you've got this
room that has a lot of potentialin it. You got guys like Dick
Bonito, you know who we alreadymentioned, Baron Brown in course who we've
mentioned, you just added Ellis JonathanCooper is in that room. Drew Sanders
is hurt, but he's probably inaddition to that room as well. You've
got you got bodies in there thatthat has some talent. What's the cream
(12:31):
It's going to rise to the topbecause you need to be an attacking edge
rusher h much more so able toget to the quarterback than in the previous
four or five years where they've runsort of a different defense, it doesn't
need that as much. Yeah, the Broncos haven't really had that von Miller
type of threat in a while, and you really need that, especially with
(12:54):
the quarterbacks within his division. Andwithin the conference as a whole. And
this is where you you can alterthe game just by that guy being on
the edge, being able to collapsethe pocket and make the quarterback speed up
the time and the rhythm of histhroat. And when you look at the
Broncos and the guys on the roster, and you talked about a couple of
guys, Baron Brown and being oneof those guys who you say, Okay,
(13:16):
what is this contract going to looklike? And usually guys play well
when their contract is coming up toexpiration. But this is a group that
really has to turn things over. They really have to get at the quarterback
at a high level. And sometimesBen, it doesn't even need to be
a sack. It is the factthat the pressures all the play For me,
(13:39):
other people may feel different, Youmay feel a little different, but
everyone loves the sack. But Ilove the pressure. If you alter the
play, that's as good as asack for me. I mean, you
might lose two, three yards, five yards whatever on the play, but
if you can cause an incompletion, that's that's that's a down either way,
especially if you can just do itwith just two edge rushers and do that
because if you vance Joseph, thenthat means you don't have to add a
(14:01):
linebacker into a mix. You don'thave to bring in somewhat of let's say,
a joker package and bring in maybeCayden Stearns and let him blitz.
You can just play in base coverage. But you brought in Brandon Jones to
be that guy, so that obviouslythey have plans on that. The more
interesting thing to me is that there'sthe interior defensive line. I mean,
you kept DJ Jones, which wedidn't think we're gonna do. Who might
(14:22):
be the closest thing to a toa tie up man, you know,
to eat up blockers kind of guyout of all those guys. You know,
Malcolm Roach and Angela Blackson are kindof those guys as well. But
the interesting thing to me is theadditions last two years of Zach Allen and
John Frankly Myers, who are reallynot those guys. Those guys are those
guys are get aft to the quarterbackguys. You know, those guys are
pass rushers. They can tie upblocks, and they can command double teams
(14:45):
at times. But those guys areget after you guys. Now they're you
would classify the more as interior defensivelineman or ends in a three four,
but really they're they're more, they'reless. You know, big body,
you're gonna have to two guys onme to you know, eat up's black
gut. Then the guys who canget after what we saw Jack Allen do
it a little bit last year. But see the way I look at it
(15:07):
is that you need once again guyscoming off the edge, but you need
some guys in interior that you knowyou call space eaters, right. Those
guys are gonna command and demand doubleteams. And when I look at DJ,
and I was around DJ for sometime in San Francisco, so I
know what he's capable of why theBroncos brought him here, but he was
(15:28):
a little banged up, so wenever really saw the best of DJ Jones.
But I'm saying, if the Broncoscan keep this unit together with some
rotational pieces, you know, onthat second and maybe third unit, it
would probably be well, it definitelywould be better than what they had last
year. But I think the emphasisis on stopping the run because the games
(15:50):
that come to me and flash rightaway are the Raiders games and when Josh
Jacobs was there them, you knowwhat he wasn't There's a mere white doing
it. Yes. So the thingis the Broncos have to be stout against
the run. And if Zach Allenis healthy, DJ Jones is healthy,
John Franklin Meyers healthy, that changesthings as far as what you can do
(16:15):
in the back end. And nowyou know, you get Alex Singleton.
We just drop him in comfage whereverthe quarterback looks, So does he looks
that way, just run to it. Most likely he's going to throw it
to you, right, that's kindof the idea. It's interesting to me
Alex Singleton is probably the most athleticinside linebacker that Vance Joseph has had in
(16:36):
coordinating a defense because Vance Joseph defenseshave been susceptible to giving up big days
to tight ends. We've seen thattime and time again. Having somebody who
is as athletic as Alex Singleton, you would hope we'll be able to put
a damper on that. Well, you would hope. But here's where when
you look at the secondary and wehave to see how fully comes together.
(16:56):
They have some pieces that they canput into plays that allows them to change
up their packages where they can havea mixing match against teams with tight ends
who are wide receivering and you couldflex him out or tight ends you keep
them as inline blockers and you needthose safeties as far as being extra tacklers.
(17:17):
The Broncos, in my opinion, they have a little more you know,
I guess versatility at the position. Now we just have to see how
it comes along. Now. I'mhoping that Jail Skinner makes somewhat of a
jump this season, like he hadall season long to learn the defense,
and hopefully with him going into hissecond year, it speeds up the maturation
(17:40):
process and then they can use himbecause he's a tall, lanky body that
I mean he changes throwing. Youknow, he's not afraid to come down
there and put some pads on someone, right, and yeah, he's definitely
not afraid to hit, and certainlyas the heft to be able to do
that. Five six, six ninezeros. The text line from Stacy from
Utah. I went and got ahaircut a few days ago, and before
(18:03):
I noticed it's too late, thegirl who was cutting my hair had one
thumb and two fingers. She dida great job. If I can get
a haircut from the one that's gotone thumb and a pinky finger and a
ring finger. And she did agreat job. Once again, I think
our receivers need to be able tocatch the ball, seeing as how they
have all their digits. Lol,go broncos I get what she's saying.
But here's the biggest thing with catchingthe football, right, And always ask
(18:26):
people this question, how do youcatch a football? Nine times out of
ten most people say with your hands? I say, okay, well,
I'm staying twenty yards away from you. Close your eyes right, And he
was like, oh no, no, no, I'm gonna get a hit
in the face. I'm like, absolutely, you have to see the ball.
And what happens. Sometimes you'll seeguys looking up field either two yards
(18:51):
have to catch or looking to gethit, and they take their eyes at
the last second off the football. And if you can't look that ball into
your hand, you go, look, man, you're gonna get hit,
so you might as well catch it. You don't have two whammies. But
that is the problem with the receiversand some of the DB's And it was
one problem that I had right.Instead of looking it in I'm trying to
(19:14):
just flash my hands and I'm lookingto goready. I'm getting a taste of
that inside. One of my biggestproblems. And why is it when guys
dropped the ball, they look attheir hands. Oh yeah, like is
it busted? Can I go turnthese in and get a new pairs?
Hey, equipment got flipped? CanI get some new hands real quick?
We're gonna get some new hands duringthe break Broncos Country Tonight, Welcome back
(20:02):
to it, bro Country Tonight.I should not be laughing as hard as
this flaming bird as I am.Kathy Walker. I mean, she catches
you off guard. Man, You'relike, yeah, she catches you.
They both catch you off guard. You're sitting there, it's daring to break.
You know, you're you and thenall of a sudden, a funny
story and you're like, wait aminute, what the bird is on fire?
(20:22):
Feathers fire side a giant laughing andthis because it's like a track burned.
I want to see the video becausehow they know They said the bird
hit the wires and it caught fireand fell on the ground. No,
No, wasn't it. Something likedoesn't believe it? He needs this approve
of film. Yes, wasn't itsomething happened like two years ago in some
(20:45):
part of Colorado that you know itburnt down the whole culture sack or whatever.
But that was kind of the ideato as well. Maybe a bird
landed a kind of crashed into thepower lines. It was a similar story.
I think. All I know isthis is the wildest reason I have
ever reported in my career for thestart of a fire that destroyed a home,
(21:08):
out buildings. More than a thousandacres burned over the weekend. See,
I wish I wish my parents. This is this brings story time with
Benjamin right now. I wish myparents had had this excuse on standby the
two times that they burned down thefield behind our house. Uh, back
in the nineties. Wait is thiswell? Wow, my family burned the
(21:30):
field down back there. Yeah, they burned like they burned something like five
hundred acres the first time, andthat wasn't good enough. Three months later
they came and burned the remaining Youcan't come on air dry sins. This
is a little fire for twenty fiveyears past. This thing happened, didn't
you say? I was not one? But did your mom just move here
(21:51):
to Denver. No, oh,I thought she did. No, she
moved to the Lake of the OzartOkay, because I was going to say,
well, based on that stuffy eventhe messageway. Right. No,
this is back in This is backin the nineties in Arkansas. And I
don't remember the first time. Theywere trying to make a garden and they
were gonna burn the pat and theyrocked it off or whatever, and I
guess my dad did the worst jobrocking making a perimeter and left one little
(22:12):
thing in the fire, just shutright out and burn the field down.
And then not to be outdone.Uh, it's like three months later,
they were putting matches down the snakeholes to get the because there's a couple
of rattle snake holes. They weretrying to get the rattlers down there.
I burned the rest of the field. The fire cheek come to me and
he's like, don't ever let yourfamily have matches. Ever. We're coming
out and we're putting them in jail. See. I find this story hard
to believe because the color and asbirds have they're run into glass windows.
(22:37):
We've seen that, yes, butI would like to think that mother Nature
has enhanced birds, Like when yousee them fly, they glide and they
fly through everything. But how didthey get both wire? Because you can't
just landing on one wire is notgonna do it. They said it was
electrical energized electrical equipment, so Idon't know what they just got microwave energized
(22:59):
the electric and if your house burnedout, I'm so sorry right now,
but this is like I'm it's sobizarre. It is like, I'm just
I don't know. I want toknow what the insurance suggestor wrote like that,
you know, okay, so justfall under acts of God. Yeah,
right. Set you bringing up avery interesting point because I remember going
back to Katrina, insurance company didn'tcover some of the homes because they told
(23:23):
people that they didn't have wind insurance. And I'm like, well, what
wind didn't destroy the house? Floodwater? Did we did? It was
like, no, we can't coverthat, you didn't have wind insurance.
So now it seemed like we allneed to look at our policies now to
see if we coverage what we callit bird have separate sub policies to cover
everything that come on. Is tomake Captain Planett yes, so I guess
(23:47):
so this is so bizarre. Yeah, anyway, I thank you, Kathy,
always here to help, you, always providing much mirth during the news
breaks. I don't know there waswhat was the one that? Remember the
one Tony did a couple of weeksago where I couldn't stop laughing, like
I had to like catch my breath, And I can't remember what it was
because the stories is so bizarre.Listen, if you're driving around Denver and
(24:08):
you've seen something similar to this, please text us in and let us know,
because I find this to be highlybizarre because like, pigeons don't even
run into power line and they're dumb. Yes, it's like the dumbest bird
would know what kind of bird thiswas? That's what the story is missing,
what type of bird? Because itwasn't a pigeon, say it.
(24:30):
It was just like, was thislike a field bird? Was this like
a flamingo? Was this? Youknow? What the world? We're not
in Florida. Who knows? Maybehe got sidetracked. I don't know.
He was flying south winter, northof the summer. I don't know.
Maybe what sea is around here? You think flamingo? You were seagulls.
Wait a minute, you haven't seenI've seen, never seen a seagull since
(24:51):
I was than I've seen a baldeagle. I've seen I'm going to Hell
and he coming from bald eagles.I've seen those hawks seen. You've seen
bald Then you have to see youknow, seagulls. Like, what is
it the Church Creek reservoir. Yes, I've seen seagulls. I have never
seen a seagull. There is thereseagulls here. I haven't seen him personally,
but who knows. Like, areyou sure you didn't see Stephen Sagall
(25:15):
was a little different? No,I didn't see difference between Steven Sagall and
the seagull. Yes, I hada little picture once and it was it
was like a seagull with a puffedup chest, and it was like Steven
seagull. Mine, Mine, MineMine. Fantastic five six six nine zero
is the text life. Somebody hasalready texted and said it landed on a
transformer and completed the circuit. Okay, that makes sense to me. Yes,
(25:36):
that's stilling into information. I stillneed to know what kind of bird
this was, because I'm having troublepicturing a tiny bird causing this kind of
fire. Well, once again flyingon a transformer and just all of a
sudden burst into flames. Maybe weneed to do more to troubleshoot these transformers,
because if a simple bird, itseems like a very glaring But you
(25:57):
know, this is like the guywho does the Death Star. He said,
oh, we've created this ultimate worldkilling weapon. There's an exhaust port
right here though that if you flydown it and you shoot a miss a
little blow the whole thing off.But other than that, it sounds like
an episode of Nimnix. I haveyou ever seen it. That's what it
sounds. I was a Picky andthe Brain guy. But you know,
well, yeah, that they makessense. Yes, of course it makes
(26:18):
sense. I used to I usedto do a like a pinky bit or
whatever. But uh somebody said,oh my god, the text lot.
You guys are wrong. You guysare so raw. I can't read some
of these. I could read suicidalbird, it was a fried chicken.
You guys are terrible people. Youguys are terrible, like I can't Those
are the those are the ones Ican read. Some of things I can't
even read. This is ridiculous.Five, six, six, nine cerils
(26:41):
of text line. Did you seethe UH Scouts execs and UH the deal
on ESPN where they get the pollof all the Scouts execs and personnel guys
and they uh they rank like thetop ten quarterbacks and running backs whatever.
The corners list came out today.Pats are tan right there on the top.
I'm not surprised, even though lastyear in twenty twenty three, it
was Sauce Gardener from the Jets whohad the number one spot, which is
(27:07):
funny because he was lower I thinkhe was. I can't remember what number
he was on the list this year, but one of the comments from one
of the NFL personnel said that Saucewas overrated, so you could call holding
on him on every play. Okay, let's go back. It may sound
like I'm a little salty, butwhen the Jets played against the Broncos a
couple years ago, I mean, when you think about what Sauce Gardner did
(27:27):
to Courtland Sudden, grabbing him offthe line and then grabbing him by the
rear nape of his neck on hisjersey, the whole pull him back to
get back in face so he couldknock down the ball and that would have
been a touchdown, but the refstanding right there, he didn't call anything.
Nah, Bro, it's a sauceeffect. No, no, and
(27:48):
once again Sauce. He's a goodcorner in his own right, but it
was the reputation coming out of collegethat allowed him too prematurely to gain that
type of recognition. Because when you'regonna put the guy at the top of
the list as far as corners inthe NFL, and I don't know by
two for me, you have todo a couple of things. You have
(28:08):
to have great technique, and ofcourse you're gonna give up a play,
a couple of plays here and there. That's part for the course. But
great technique, fearless, you followthe other team's top receiver round and most
importantly you tackle. Yeah, youtackle five six, six, nine zeros
of text line eleventh gen Coloraden. Here's from the three or three we have
seagulls. So I stand corrected, told you, I stand corrected, Yeah,
(28:30):
iie. I mean because you andCouver haven't seen him doesn't mean they
don't exist. I've never seen purpleunicorns either, but I'm willing to admit
they might be. They might behanging around my little body different three to
zero three here. Since I grewup in what used to be the country,
birds would land on a fused linefrom a transformer and knock out the
power. On occasion, they'd catchfires start a grass fire, especially this
(28:51):
time of year. So now weknow what size bird? I need to
know what side? Are we talkinglike a hawk size? Are we talking
like a chickadee? Like? Whatare we talking about here? But okay,
So with that being said, isthere not a protective covering that you
could put on top of the transformersto keep the birds away? Because I
know I drive around certain places andthey have these little fake owls that they
(29:11):
put on top of the roof forplaces they want to keep birds out of.
Why don't you just do that sowe can prevent these these these these
blazes. Well, why don't wetalk to them? I mean, if
they're autobots, certainly we can getthem to protect themselves. The Decepticons might
still fry these birds, but I'mbeing told it's not that kind of transformer.
I'm sorry, Only they're adolescent thoughts. Just yeah, I'm mom one
(29:33):
today, man, I find sixtext I let's go out to Kill Traffic
Center check in with Derek Goplin WellMack two in Broncos Country tonight, Benjamin

(29:59):
Aviv, Tony Man is probably heavy. An update for that top of the
hour right here on Kawa Rocos CountryNight. Get a roll tell eight o'clock
tonight, where we will hand itover to ABC News coverage of the Republican
National Convention five six six nine zeros. The text line got plenty of insight
on the flaming bird incident. Uh. The nine seven else is go to
(30:25):
any Colorado dump and you'll see hundredsof seagulls. I don't know wounds.
The last time anybody's been to adump well, I mean, unless you
were just kind of doing this scavengerhunt. No one's actually going around there.
But I'm telling you I wouldn't evenknow where to look for one.
I mean, you can look itup, but if you want to find
(30:45):
seagulls Cherry Creek Reservoir, all right, I'll go down there just legitimately.
And I've been here twelve years now, eleven years. I've never seen a
seagull here when I've seen them, and I've seen like a bunch of them,
and I'm like, came from Tampa, so it's not like I didn't
see them before, right, Butbut I'm wondering, Okay, well do
these birds know it gets cold here? Like, I mean, yeah,
(31:07):
are they flying south? I don'tknow that. Yeah, the vacation at
Cozamel going to Cowbo three eighty fivesays where I grew up, I had
birds sitting on my window sill tryingto look in my window. Turns out
they were jailbirds. Peeping Tom's saysthe ones you see in Denver are actually
ring build gulls and sent a linkso that we can, uh, we
(31:30):
can look at them ring bill.I mean just still in the gold family.
Yeah, I don't want to missI don't want to miss label.
But yeah, they're still in thein the in that genus or phylum,
whatever the case may be. Sevennine interesting here, I'm gona looku during
the breaks. Look up firehawks inAustralia they start fires to catch prey.
What birds that start fire to flushprey? Right? Hold on, hold
(31:52):
on, hold on? But yeah, how the hell these birds starting fires
called fire hawks do have matches onthem? What lighters? How do they
start fires? Well, according tothis article here from Penn State dot ed
(32:12):
U, fire setting behaviors above birdsmay not be limited to species or geography.
The birds known as fire hawks actuallyinclude the black kite, the whistling
kite, and the brown falcon, which apparently, yeah, they'll start fires
in fields. I don't know wherethey get the fire. The fire are
the fire breathing hawks. I'm tryingto figure this out now. I'm as
(32:34):
caught up as you are on this. No. No, no, no,
no, no, that texter, whomever you are, give us a
little more inside information. Fire hawk, Yeah, that's a nice name,
but how are they starting fires? And I'm being told there's no truth to
the rumor that they have that theyhave a zippo that they just you know,
the No. Apparently they pick upand drop burning twigs in two grassy
(33:00):
areas to flush prey out. Theypick up already burning stuff. They pick
up already burning stuff in their talentsand drop it in areas where they know
that the prey is hell. Aretheir talents made of where they're picking up
like like fleaming twigs? Your guess, is good. Does coover have insight
on this? This is nothing? You know what, I'm gonna have to
(33:22):
look, I'm on the part ofthe show. But now is somebody to
go down the rabbit hole on thisis ridiculous? There evidently suicide birds.
What talking about? Birds that wouldfly in there directly like Japanese zero side
birds? Wait? Wait, whatis this that coves we got? I'm
(33:43):
confused now. What I said washe was talking about there were birds that
would fly in there directly to starta fire on purpose. So are they
like suicide birds? Birds dive bomb, they don't combust. This is their
bombs for birds. But Ben wassaying that these fire hawks and whatever they
called black pips apparently is what theyfire twigs and they dropped them to catch
(34:08):
other prey. I've never heard ofthis before. Well according to the according
to the Victorian naturalist, uh,we went down there and studied these things,
and they spread wildfires that they theythey move with the fire like as
wildfires spread, they move with thefires and kind of roost for the and
then they'll pick up burning stuff andstart additional fires to flush prey out.
(34:30):
Well, give a whole new meaningto Nashville Hot Huh, National Hot Chicken.
This is just I never knew thisexisted. I know a lot of
weird stuff. This is not athing I knew. This is fast.
I can't wait to tell my kidsthis. Hey there's a bird that's that
can actually start fires. We didn'tstart, they start. You did start
(34:52):
the fire, Stirk, you did. Wow. This is five six.
If you got any more weird wackytrivia or links to this kind of stuff,
because some of you guys are sendingthese links now and I certainly appreciate
it because I'm going to read upon this during the break when we come
back. Cody Roark from Mile HighSports, we'll see what he thinks about
