stories I want to get to,UH, the first of which is fascinating
to me. And maybe it's maybeit's the nerd in me. I don't
know, but Lamar Jackson is setto take on another NFL quarterback, and

probably not the one you think,Troy Aikman. They're set to face off
in the US Patent and Trademark Officethe UH. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback has
filed a challenge against a trademark filingby former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman to
use their shared number number eighth.This is according to ESPN and trademark attorney

Josh Gurbin. At issue is Aikmanowning and applying for several trademarks featuring the
word eight on apparel in bags,which Lamar Jackson's legal team reportedly argues would
be likely to cause confusion or causemistake or to deceive the public when it
comes to figuring out of their buyingsay a Troy Aikman shirt or a Lamar

Jackson shirt. Fl One oh one, which is the company behind the Eikman
products, has several products that featureeight spelled out eight, including a light
beer brand, but Jackson is onlydisputing the bags and apparel. Jackson has
been making his own apparel for yearsunder his Era eight A's Era and the

Number eight apparel brand, with productsincluding T shirts that just have the numeral
eight on them. Jackson is reportedlyapplied for a number of trademarks around the
number, most of them featuring theEra eight, with the eight being a
numeral name. This isn't the firsttime that Lamar's gone to battle over his
apparel company. He filed lawsuit againstAmazon in twenty twenty over selling unlicensed merchandise

featuring his registered trademarks. Jackson filedfor Amazon to count sales that generated from
merchandise that featured his name immager likenessand banned the website that offered them without
authorization and sought significant damages. Soit'll be interesting to see how that sort

of shakes out there in court.Normally we talked about quarterbacks going to battle
on the field, this one inthe courtroom. Speaking of the courtroom,
Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor has beenarrested again on a felony charge over sex
offender registration violation. Longtime New YorkGiants linebacker landed on the sex offender list

back in twenty eleven. Pro FootballHall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was arrested Wednesday
on a felony charge for failing toreport his residence change as a registered sex
offender. Accord to The Athletic,Taylor, who is sixty five, turned
himself into the Broward Sheriff's office inFort Lauderdale Wednesday and was released on bail
Thursday. The incident is nearly identicalto a situation in twenty twenty one,

when Taylor was arrested for the exactsame thing in South Florida. Taylor avoided
jail time then after he pleted guiltyto a lesser charge. Taylor's attorney called
the arrests a misunderstanding on Thursday andsaid he would be pleading not guilty.
As with any previous incident involving thesame allegations, mister Taylor did not knowingly
commit any criminal offense. Situation isa significant misunderstanding, that's per his attorney,

Mark Eiglerash, in a statement Taylorpled guilty to one count of sexual
misconduct and one count of soliciting aprostitute in the third degree in November of
two thy eleven, which is whatrequired him to register as a sex offender
in the first place. The sixteenyear old girl said she was beaten and

forced to go to Taylor's hotel roomto have sex with him. Taylor at
the time said he was unaware thegirl was underage and that he thought she
was nineteen. Taylor was married andin his fifties at that time. Taylor
was given a Level one sex offender'sstatus at his sentencing hearing, which is
the lowest possible level, considered lowrisk. His photo did not appear online

in the database. He was alsosentenced to six years of probation in Florida.
As a registered sex offender, he'srequired to report address changes to local
authorities. Taylor spent thirteen seasons inthe league with the Giants before he retired
after the eighteen ninety three campaign.Won two Super Bowls. Was a ten
time Pro bowler, eight time AllPro linebacker, and inducted into the Hall
of Fame in nineteen ninety nine.Bronnie James and the Lakers picked up another

win. Second rounder posted thirteen pointsagainst the Caves last night. Brownie James
followed up his best game at theSouthern Summer League with another solid effort and
was the result of a win forthe Los Angeles Lakers. The fifth overall
pick in the twenty twenty four NBAdraft, posted thirteen points on five to
ten shooting, five boards, threeass his three turnovers in a ninety three
to eighty nine win over the Calveslast night, a second straight game with

on Thursday. Thanks to his superstarfather, lebron James and the prospect of
making history together, Bronnie James hasdrawn more interest than any second round pick
in Summer League history. However,his run of six games hasn't done much
to justify the idea that he's abona fight and be a player that Again,

play their final game tomorrow night,Saturday against the Chicago Bulls. For those

to use proceeds from a sales taxto pay down renovations Darrahead stadium Sarta set
off a chain on about a lotof conversations about where the Chiefs will play
their home games in the future.Kansas lawmakers passed a bill that would finance

a new Chiefs stadium. Missouri officialshave been looking at other options to provide
financing for stadiums for both the Chiefsand the Royals. The Chiefs are contractually
tied to their current home at Arrowheadthrough twenty and team president Mark Donovan said
today the team's in discussions with bothstates as they try to determine the best

path to take heading into the twentythirty one season. Same quote, I
would say every option is on thetable. What makes the most sense for
our fans, What makes the mostsense for our franchise in this organization,
What makes the most sense and canhave the biggest impact on the region.
I think the positive is we dohave options, and we'll consider those.
This is a generational decision. It'sgoing to impact the future of this franchise

for generations. We got to getit right. There has been talk of
another public vote in Jackson County,but Donovan said that there have not been
sub stand up discussions about that atthis point. He did add that the
team would want a lot of thedetails determined before we go back down that
route, So a lot still needsto be worked out as the team makes

its plans for their future home.But I think Broncos fans are sort of
reveling in a bit of uncertainty therein Kansas City. As Kansas City has
certainly been atop the division and winningSuper Bowls recently, I think having a
little bit of frustration with trying tofigure out where their home is going to

be, you know, something thatdoesn't affect anybody on a pain level,
I think is a source of mirthto Broncos fans against against Chief fans,
who get to talk a lot fora lot of other things. Right now,
from the sounds of it, wecan expect to see plenty of Caleb

that the Bears plan to give Williamssignificant preseason reps as he prepares for his
rookie season. Same quote. Wetalked about that in the spring, a
little bit about looking back at whatsome of the guys have done in the
past, and we certainly want todo that. We'll take that week to
week, but there's value in allthe reps when you think about it,
because he's going to be against thenumber one defense, going against them,

what defensive practice that is In preseasongames, you don't get all the looks
sometimes that you would get during practice. So I think there's equal value to
going against the ones every single dayand getting some of those reps, as
well as for a specific number ofreps in exhibition games. Eberflu says that's
still under discussion. We haven't madeany decisions, but certainly want to get

him some reps. I know theguys last year got forty five to fifty
five reps. We're looking at thatin net range. We'll see again,
it's always week to week, butyou have to see what the healthier line
is where everybody is. Certainly thoseexposures are going to be valuable. Chicago
has four preseason contests this year becausethe club is playing in Houston in the
excuse me playing Houston in the Hallof Fame game on August first. The

Bears then take on the Bills onAugust tenth, the Bengals the seventeenth,
and the aforementioned Chiefs on August twentysecond. J J. McCarthy has finally
agreed to terms with the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings had two of the league's
three remaining unsigned haft picks, butone of them is off that list now.
Adam Shafter reporting that quarterback JJ McCarthyhas agreed to a deal with the

team tenth overall pick. We'll signa four year, fully guaranteed contract for
twenty one point eighty five million thatincludes a twelve point seven to one million
dollars signing bonus. Vikings led ateam option for the fifth season. The
fifth year option obviously Minnesota's other unsignedpick as their other first rounder, and
that's Dallas Turner. With McCarthy done, the ed Rusher also seems likely to

come to terms with the Vikings beforerookies report on Sunday. The McCarthy's contracts
settled he'll turn his attention to obviouslycompeting with Sam Darnold for the starting quarterback
job. Donald currently atop the depthchart, but McCarthy wasn't drafted in the
first round to spend extended time onthe bench, So we'll see how long

zero, Kevin O'Connell said the timingof the JJ McCarthy QB one can't be
written on a board. Kevin Seifertof ESPN detailed the Vikings transition from Kirk
Cousins to McCarthy under Kevin O'Connell andGM quesci. Adolpho Mensa, the head

coach, noted that his previous experienceswith coaching young quarterbacks have left him more
cautious. To that end, O'Connellhas left the timetable for McCarthy becoming Minnesota
starter open ended. O'Connell said McCarthywill be ready when the comfort level that
he has within our offense and hisability to then translate it to adverse conditions
and difficult aspects of playing quarterback inthe NFL aren't magnified by inexperience. And

there are two seasons together, O'Connelland Dudopha Mensa have compiled a twenty and
fourteen record with one NFC North title, while the Vikings were in a hunt
for the postseason berth late in theseason to spite Kirk Cousin's achilles tear.

It's not outside the real of possibilitythat o' conna's job status could come into

just more about what's in the bestinterest of the organization. Those circumstances cannot
affect JJ's development plan or any otherplayer on the team for that matter.

McCarthy, but our entire team atheart when we make that decision. Broncos

who took some time off throwing asthe team's offseason program came to an
end because of soreness in the surgicallyrepaired shoulder, set it an event on
Thursday. He's not experiencing any issuesat the moment. I think he's feeling
really good. I've been doing itall. You know, we got a
game coming up soon. I gottabe ready. Richardson was asked if you've
been clear for all activities at trainingcamp and said that you'll see next week
once I'm slinging that thing again.However, they break came in at the

start of camp. The Colts goalwill be to make sure Richardson continues slinging
the ball for the entire season thistime around. Louis Reese Zammitt, who
is attempting to make the move fromrugby to football, has reported to Trading
Camp he's the Welshman signed with theChiefs this offseason. He's still learning the

ropes on out of play football Americanfootball, and it makes for longer days
than some of those teammates are puttingin this summer. Zamit who said,
we don't finish meetings until eight pm, and I probably go to bed at
ten pm, so an extra twohours just learning the plays. Because I'm
playing catch up with a lot ofpeople that have played American football since say
we're kids. It's Adam Ticher ESPN. There's no time to rest for me.

I've got to give this my allbecause ultimately this is my dream and
to make it come true that I'vegot to play. I got to be
a step ahead of a lot ofpeople. I'm non stop trying to learn
this playbook because as soon as Ican start not having to think about playing
and just playing fast. That's thebiggest thing for me. Reese Zama is
working with the team's running backs andspecialties teams, and those are probably his

only path to make the roster.Another big part of the puzzle is I
handles playing in pads, the differencein contact from his former sport to his
current one. He'll get tastes ofboth in the near future and a clear
picture of his chance of making thecut will come into focus. Samit is
trying to make the Kansas City Chiefs. Brown's head coach Kevin Stefanski says,
you have to wait a week tofind out who's calling the offensive plays.

Brown's are waiting until training camp toanswer the question about their plans for the
twenty twenty four season. Head coachKevin Stefanski hired Ken Dorsey is the team's
new offensive coordinator this offseason, buthe has not said which of the two
men, whether himself or Dorsey,will be calling the team's offensive plays this
fall. Stefanski was a guest onninety two to three The Fan in Cleveland

on Thursday, and a fan whodonated money to Stefanski's Keeper Foundation in order
to be a co host of theshow. For that day, asked him
to reveal that information. Fanski saidthat everyone needs to have a little more

the plays into the Shawn Watson's helmetwill be significant for the Browns, but

any play needs to be executed welland in order for it to be the

the Browns since being acquired and hasbeen oft injured. The Browns for their

very respectful competition was Zach Wilson andJared Stidham Ronco's rookie quarterback. Bo Nicks
obviously in a three way competition wasZach and Zach Wilson Jared Stidam, but
he says the three of them allsupport each other as they fight for one
job. Nick says he always knewhe'd be competing for a job as a
rookie and embraces it, saying quote, it started. I guess the moment

we knew we were all going tobe on the same team. I have
great respect for those guys. We'recompeting at a very high level, but
it's a very respectful competition. Ithink we all want each other to succeed.
We all know we've come from differentpaths and had to overcome different adversities.
That's kind of what connects us inthat we're all helping each other.
It's been great to learn from thoseguys and experience some things that they've experienced.

I think, honestly my job asthe rookies to soak up everything I
can, especially from those guys.You know, Za's played a lot,
Stid has played a lot of years, so they've got between the two different
situations, but a lot of knowledge. So that's what I'm excited to continue
to learn in training camp. Ithink it's just a healthy overall competition,
a good competition. I think we'reall going to be better coming out of
it. Nix said he knows thatthis opportunity is he obviously not just handed

out, and he has to provehe's the best quarterback on the team to
get the job. Betting odds currentlysuggest that Nix is heading into training camp
is the favorite. Bo Nix iscurrently a minus four hundred favorite, where
Zach Wilson at plus four fifty,while Jarrett Stidham is the long shot at
plus six fifty, although Steadham Ithink is probably the guy if neither of

the other two take it, andwhile that may seem to be self evident,
what I'm saying is individually, Nicksis probably the favorite if he doesn't
take the job. Stidham is probablyunless Zack Wilson just you know suddenly bowls
out, which he was not doingat the mini camps and everything else thus
far. I think most people expectBoonis to be the guy, but Jared
Stidham obviously could start the season asthe as the top quarterback if Knicks just

just isn't quite ready to you know, be the guy and be the starter
for the Denver Broncos this season.Sean Payton obviously will have him out there
at some point to figure out whathe's got, but the question remains whether
or not Bonix will start the season. We talked about this story a while
back, and the Jacksonville Jaguars aresuing I'm at Patel, their former employee,

be a slam dunk because it's acivil case and Patel has already admitted in
a federal prosecution that culminated in aguilty plea that he did it. So
unless the Jaguars are simply trying toprove a point or head against the possibility
at Ptel eventually winning the lottery orsomething, it feels like the Jags are

trying to set up an effort torecover money from fan Duel or DraftKings.
Court documents per Sean t of ESPNdot com show that Patel transferred twenty million
dollars to FanDuel and one million toDraftKings. The Jaguars had previously asked FanDuel
to repay some or all of thatmoney, given the potential ramifications flowing from

an NFL team suing one or moresignificant NFL partners. The Jags might be
hoping that their lawsuit against PTEL willprompt him to file what's known as the
third party complaint against the sports books. Then Patel could would should argue that
fanduels and DraftKings, but particularly FanDuel, given the magnitude of the deposit there,
active with negligence and or recklessness,delibered indifference, smells of forethought,

(30:41):
or whatever other fancy lawyer terms canbe cooked up to show that sportsbooks have
a basic legal duty to detect patternsthat indicate embezzlement. Patel could recover the
money he spent from FanDuel or DraftKingswith that payment and pass it through to
the Jaguars. Would Patel do it? There's no downside in trying. Frankly,

it's possible that the Jags and Ptel, working through their lawyers, have
decided to cooperate in this regard witha side deal that they won't seek anything
from him beyond what he recovers fromfandueler DraftKings. Earlier this month, it
was pointed out that England requires sportsbooks to detect patterns suggesting problem gambling or
theft. The American gambling industry hasyet to spawn such protections. Litigation traditionally

represents one side of the most viableand effective ways to create those protections.
We will see where this shakes outfor Patel and the Jags. It's an
interesting case. It's an interesting deal. I mean, Patel used a loophole
with the JAG's credit card, Tombezeltwenty two million dollars, most of which

was spent on gambling and huge losses, I mean just heavy, huge losses.
So fascinating in the end, whatexactly this amounts to for if the
Jags get their money back or Patelwinds up suing and you know, figure
that out. But given that he'salready played guilty once, this feels like

something that probably is foregone. Somethingwe talked about a little bit last night.
And the Saints have placed right tackleRyan Ramcheck on the reserve pup list.
Ramcheck will miss the entire twenty twentyfour season. A vested veteran who
gets placed on the reserve pup beforethe final roster reduction cannot return. So

not a surprise given Saints coach DennisAllen had expressed concerns about Ramscheck's knee earlier
in the offseason. The issue sidelinedhim for five games last year could possibly
mean the end of Ramcheck's career.The Saints restructured his contract in May,
freeing up cap space for this season. Ramscheck is guaranteed six point five million

this season, which lowered his caphit from twenty seven million to twelve point
twenty nine for the season. Ramscheckhas cap hits of twenty nine million and
twenty six million the next two seasons, so New Orleans will have to figure

thirty, started one hundred and onegames the seventh seasons, earned first team

All Pro honors once, second teamAll Pro honners twice. He was the
tackle taken after Garrett Bowles that year, and obviously, the Saints drafted Fuaga
this year in the first round tosort of be his replacement eventually, although
that may now happen sooner than soonerthan later. We are we will see

how that stacks up. The Bearsare the second team to have everybody report.
It'll be uh interesting to see.Some teams have not had everybody fully

are some rookies to watch, obviously, Calebiams, Jade Daniels, Drake May
that kind of stuff. But youknow, I think the big ones are
