(00:00):
Welcome to it, Broncos Country Tonight, Benjamin all right here with you short
show obviously post Rockies edition five sixsix nine. Zerolays the text line,
and I apologize if I don't getback to you or having some send issues.
So appreciate you being along for theride. We have finally gotten here.

(00:20):
Training camp opens Friday, myself forus, the KA people will be
out there Saturday. I believe youguys are fans are out there as well.
So looking forward to catching up withyou guys out there, getting our
eyes on the Broncos and this newquarterback situation and everything else that's going on

(00:42):
around the Denver Broncos. Really lookingforward to getting back to football this week
after having a few months of youknow, I mean, obviously we had
the draft and all that kind ofstuff, but actual football. It's nice
to kind of sort of get backto that. So looking forward to that.
A lot of a lot of rumortype stuff floating. I wanted to
start with that, specifically with JavanteWilliams. Our good friend Troy Rank could

(01:08):
put out on his podcast that hefelt like Javante and Samaj were fighting for
the same roster spot. I talkedabout it. Back in I'm looking at
my tweets here may what running backroom looked like it had perhaps one too
many bodies in it. Uh BlakeWatson right now is a little dinged up
estimates coming back off the knee.So it's it's gonna be interesting to see

(01:30):
how this thing shakes out. TheBroncos can save three million dollars by moving
on from Samaj p rhime, theysave one and a half moving off for
Javante Williams. But if you lookat how the distribution went toward the end
of last year, Javante Williams hadsomething like sixty seven percent of the carries
from week ten on. Samad hadseveral unfortunate fumble. You know, Javonte

(01:57):
Wimsley had won fumble a year.Samaj had several fumble I think three loss
if I if I remember correctly,I'd have to go back and look at
that. But Samaji p Ryan neverreally established himself as anything more than a
third down pass catching type back inthis offense. And so I don't feel
like that there's a real competition herebecause Givante Williams used in every down back

(02:17):
and Samaj who wears down the moreyou use him because of his running style.
Never really felt I mean, Iliked what he did, like we
he brought to the table. AndI'm not trying to dog Samaji p Ryan,
but there's a financial incentive for thefor Javante to win should there be
a competition between the two for onespot. And I've seen the headline.

(02:38):
The headline is better when it reads, you know, Javonte Williams in trouble.
You know, that's how they getyou to click on stuff and listen
to stuff. The headline reads betterthat way. But the reality is that
all of the financial incentives point toSamaj p Ryan needing to take the job
from Javonte to order to stick aroundagain. The Broncos save double the money

(03:01):
moving off with so much at pRyan. Sean Payton has typically had three
to four headed running back backfields orrooms usually has one or two guys who
can kind of run with power, and in this particular case, that would
be you know, I guess DevantaWilliams an Aldrick estime, and then you've

(03:23):
got a change of pace guy whocan catch the ball and be kind of
a spark, you know whatever,And that's Joel's McLoughlin, and so I
feel like that, you know, you look at this mcgloughlin's not an every
down guy. He's kind of thedarren Sprolls guy if you look for an
archetype from Sean Payton, or aguy who can get you eight to twelve
touches a game and provide a littlebit of a spark. But he's not

(03:46):
really what Sean Payton traditionally looks forin a running back. Sean Payton hasn't
had a lot of bell cow backs, bell cow type backfield distributions over the
course of his which you career,Alvin Kamara being a bit of an exception,
but even then, you still hestill shared the backfield with other people.
You go back and look at therotations that Sean Payton rolled out.

(04:11):
You know, you had Reggie Bushand duce McAllister and Mark Ingram, Pierre
Thomas Latavius, Murray, darren Sprollsand go on and on and these they
always they sort of rotated, Andyou say, you kind of saw like
a like a forty forty twenty splitor a you know, a fifty forty
ten split between the running backs interms of kind of having a you know,

(04:33):
sort of a three headed monster withall that, and so I think
that perhaps we're not focusing enough onthat, or the conversation has it focused
enough on that running back room, which will probably get heavy use due to
the fact that you've got potential fora rookie quarterback, or really with any
one of these quarterbacks, you're gonnawant to have a strong run game,

(04:55):
but especially if you have a rookiethat that they can rely on. And
so I see all these headlines outthere and I get constantly asked, Okay,
you know, is Javonte Williams introuble? Well, I don't want
to. I wouldn't phrase it thatway. I would say he's leading for
the job as a matter of fact. But I think that the better way
to sort of look at it isto say that there's probably an odd man

(05:21):
out in this. And so whatmakes the most sense for the Denver Broncos
is it is it to keep asamaj p Ryan around? Because if it
does, then that means that youfelt like Audric Estimate can be relied on
as a lead back, and he'scoming He's a rookie coming off a you

(05:41):
know, an e scope that doesn'tseem realistic to me. Do you think
the samaj p Ryan can be alead back? Well, statistically, if
you go back and look, hestarts strong and then he fades by the
second or third game that in arow that he's a starter because he has
a violent running style that that sortof wears down and he seeks out contact.
And that's not to say that Javanteisn't that guy as well, but

(06:01):
Williams has kind of shown a propensityfor that. You know, as far
as that stuff goes. Now,Williams is back off that injury, that
horrific injury. Last year's comeback wasmiraculous, but it generally takes a while
for that to completely heal and foryou to get full confidence back in it.
And so I would not be surprisedto see Javonte Williams sort of have

(06:23):
a bounce back and some Maj pRyan be the odd man out when all
said and done again. I keepgetting asked about that. I get asked
about it on social media, getasked about it when I'm out at dinner.
So that is my answer. Myanswer is that Javonte Williams, I
would not term it as him beingin trouble. I would term it as

(06:43):
you know, there are probably fourrunning back spots. Four running back spots,
there are probably five running backs vyingfor those four spots, and so
somebody probably is the odd man out. The question is and who's going to
take the job. And as muchas I like some of j p Ryan's
a fun story, we've had himon the show, it doesn't feel like
the Broncos are incentivized to cut JavonteWilliams unless he just woefully underperforms, and

(07:09):
I haven't seen any indication that thatwould be the case. Obviously last year,
coming back off the injury, youcan excuse some of the productivity,
but you know, end of theday, I haven't felt like that Javante
Williams has shown that he needs tobe replaced and that you would be comfortable
going with Estima and Samaja p Ryanwhen you could go with Estime and Javante

(07:31):
Williams and go from there, andhonestly, you could kind of flip flop
the roles a little bit there whereEstima, who's really not much of a
pass catcher, could be an earlydownback. Gavante comes on in second,
third down and can catch passes andJavante's showing good hands out of the backfield

(07:51):
and great balance. So you couldsee a role flip where Estimate takes on
the role that Chavante sort of hadlast year, Javante takes on the role
asma j A Pea Ryan sort ofhad last year, and Jelia McLoughlin comes
in and is the change of pace, you know, kind of switchblade guy
that you can move around a littlebit and get a few touches and see
if there's some see if there's somespark or electricity, and see if he

(08:13):
pops off. So as far asthese reports go, you know, my
understanding of the situation is there's youknow, there's true competition with the roster
this year, and those who thecream will rise to the top. Was
the quote sort of given in thatregard. I don't I don't think that
Javonte's in trouble, and I wouldn'tterm it that way. I would term

(08:33):
it as again, five bodies buyingfor four spots and who brings what to
the table, and right now tome, that looks like some mudj A
Pe Ryan would be uh, theodd man out. So we'll see how
it goes shifting gears a little bitover to the Baltimore Ravens. Ravens quarterback
Lamar Jackson out for the second consecutiveday of training camp. He was sent

(08:56):
home before Sunday's opening practice, remainedout today and let's via the Baltimore Banner
and Jonash Schaeffer. Raven's head coachJohn Horbaugh said that his timetable for return
was unclear after he fell ill onSaturday. Harball said Jackson will return when
he feels better. He's not sickanymore. Former Bronco and former two thirds

(09:18):
of the league quarterback Josh Johnson isthe is taking Lamar Jackson's first team reps
rookie Devin Leary and Emery Jones.Of the other quarterbacks they have on the
roster, Rashan Bateman said, youknow, it's good to have Josh.
He's an old head around here. He's a good leader, teaches us a
lot when it comes to the gameof football, definite leads us in the
right direction. So it's good.Good to have him there. This thin

(09:41):
thing because Lamar Jackson is a guywho has gotten sick quite a bit.
You go back and look at theand the injury report on reports from from
camp and all that kind of stuff. And he's a guy who seems to
get sick a lot. So that'sthat's sort of just something to keep your
eye on, you know. Maybeit's uh, maybe it's much ado about
nothing, but just something that kindof keep your eye on as things go

(10:03):
on. And why is it thatLamar Jackson seems to be more susceptible to
illness? Is it coincidence or isit something that's that has something really there?
Five six six nine zeroes text line. So the Vikings, who have
dealt with some tragedy already, arepretty disappointed. Wide receiver Jordan Addison,

(10:24):
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell, andGM questi Udolpho Mensa opened their press conference
today and they spent about ten minutestalking about the team's response in the the
to the death of rookie corner KyrieJackson, who died in a car crash
earlier this month. He was notthe driver, He was not at fault,
you know, the other vehicle hadthe intoxicated driver hit them. O'Connell

(10:48):
and Adolpha Mensa spoke about their ownreactions to hearing the news and arrangements that
are in place for players in theorganization. We're struggling with the lost Police
said they believe alcohol whole played arole in the crash, which killed two
others, and then they faced aquestion about wide receiver Jordan Addison, who
was arrested on suspicion of dui justlast week. O'Connell said, we're disappointed

(11:13):
in Jordan. We care about theseplayers who really do want to make sure
we're doing our part for the developmenton the field. The other aspect of
that the off the field, thelife skills, development of decision making learning,
how important it is within our culture, which we're proud of, that
our players understand personal responsibility and accountability. Addison was cited for reckless driving last
year. Neither O'Connell nor adl FAMens has said they have concerns about the

(11:35):
white House's character. He still facescriminal charge and could face league discipline.
They said, to let the league, you know, handle those things and
work that accordingly. But man, that's got to be a massive I mean,
we're disappointed. It is about undersellingit as much as you possibly can.
You lost a rookie in a carcrash in which alcohol was involved earlier
in the month, and you've gota player out there drinking and driving.

(12:00):
So I I mean, if you, if you're the Vikings, the message
didn't get across whatever you were using. The message did not make its way
to where it needed to make it. And you've got Jordan Addison out here,
you know, driving well intoxicated. It's just frustrating to me. It's

(12:24):
frustrating to me that anybody does that. You have Uber, you got Lyft,
you got scooters, you got lightrails, you've got all kinds,
You've got all kinds of transportation optionsthis day and age, and the idea
that you would drink and then driveat all blows my mind. There's there
are no excuses anymore. There's noreason to have an excuse. You don't

(12:45):
have an excuse. If you drink, don't drive, just that simple,
just just that plain, that simple. If you drink, don't drive,
period, end of story. AndI don't I just I guess I just
don't understand how you come to that. And obviously you know, earlier this
month, Kyrie Jackson, who wasthe Vikings rookie corner, lost his life

(13:07):
in the car crash. That funeralis sent for Friday. By the way,
the joint service with the former highschool teammate as Hazel and Kevin Seaford.
Of ESPN's reporting that the Vikings aregoing to pay for the funeral expenses,
the Vikings announced today that his lockerwill go unused this season and the
team will wear a helmet decals inhis honor throughout the year. Coach O'Connell,

(13:31):
gm Odopha Menza defensive coording to BrianFlores, others all going to be
there. Jackson at Hazel and AnthonyLytton Junior died on July sixth when they
were riding in a car that wasstruck by another vehicle, of which police
suspect the otoxicated. Kyrie played collegeball at Alabama and then Oregon. Was
a fourth round pick of the Vikingsback in April, and the team are

(13:54):
paying his signing bonus to his estateand honoring that as well. I just
again, if you're Jordan Addison,I mean, my goodness, it's boneheaded.
You want to talk about a decisionthat it just makes you look like
an idiot. I mean, we'vegot all kinds of things out here,
from Henry Ruggs to whatever else ifyou drink, just don't drive. Do
not drive. There is no reasonto drive. There's never going to be

(14:18):
any reason to drive. Staying inthe NFC North, the Lions could end
up catching flak from Receiver. Idon't know if you guys have watched that
or not on Netflix, but asnoted recently, Receiver series reveals that I'm
on ross. Saint Brown suffered anoblique injury in Week three against the Falcons.

(14:39):
Now he characterized the pain while runningas an eight or nine on a
scale of one to ten. Hedid not appear on the injury board in
advance of a week four Thursday nightgame at Green Bay. And this is
interesting because the over under on thereceiving yard is total of seventy two and
a half was the mark in sportsbooks. But anybody who knew that he

(15:05):
was in that much pain could havebet the under and one since he only
had fifty six yard I didn't know, might have determined that seventy two and
a half was tempting for the over, regardless he was injured and the Lions
didn't disclose it. The NFL hasdeclined comment on the matter, and that
could mean that the NFL is optedto say nothing while monitoring the story,

(15:28):
but the NFL might have to saysomething at some point while reviewing the matter.
Presumably the league's reviewing the matter, and if it isn't, he should
be because it's an example of howinjury report gamesmanship creates inside information that can
easily be misappropriated and people can useto make a quick buck. Last week
was literally the anniversary of the leagueadopting injury report requirements back in Nice one

(15:50):
under mel who was then the commissioner. The goal, of course, was
to eliminate information for gambling purposes. Here we are seventy four years later and
it's still a dynamic. So justsomething to keep your eye on. I
don't know what the league is goingto do anything, but you know is
what it is. Five six sixnine zero's a text line. You guys

(16:15):
want to get involved the conversation. We are a news, talk and sports
station. There were some people thatwanted some comments on what happened over the
weekend with the President of the UnitedStates declining to seek reelection. I don't
really want to get into that tonight. I think it's been covered to death,
but if you guys do, Iwill When we come. I do

(16:37):
want to get into a few otherthings about training camp coming up this week.
I want to get into some ofthese position battles. Programming note we
got full live shows Wednesday and Thursday, and then a partial live show on
Friday after the first day of camp. Broncos Country that rolls on Kaiowa,
Welcome back to It, Broncos CountryTonight udgement all right here with you.

(16:59):
Michael Cooper produce five six six ninezero's text line. I had a couple
of questions coming in about Broncos freeagents signing back with the team. That
there is a no on both these. Justin Simmons, I expected it in
a decision from him in the nextweek or two. That'll come pretty quickly.

(17:19):
And Mike Purcell, I know he'sgot some interest from a couple of
teams. Uh. I believe he'sgoing to sign elsewhere, specifically the AFC
East. We'll see how that goes. So we'll see, but I don't
think either one of those guys arecoming back to the Broncos, specifically Simmons

(17:40):
and probably not Procell as well.I imagine that that deal gets done pretty
quickly. Five six six nine zerois the text line. Don't want to
take you guys's questions, if yougot any. I did tell you during
the last segment that I wanted toget to some of these positional battles.
We talked a little bit about therumors and ports in the running back room,
so I'll skip that one. Andas somebody pointed out that I admitted

(18:06):
Blake Watson, who's on the NFI, and Tyler Batty, I did.
I think Watson was in uh andstill is in position to be one of
those bodies. But I think whathe brings specifically with kick returns is probably
a part of where he would be. It'll be interesting to see if Julil
McLoughlin gets put on kick returns aswell. Right now, tentatively they have

(18:29):
Marvin Mims and Julia McLoughlin. Isuspect that with kick returns we'll we'll probably
see quicker running backs be involved there, whereas Mims probably will stick with the
punt returns. I wonder if theymoved Tremont Smith over to kick returns as
well. You know, anyway,it'll be a while before we have that
sorted, so it'll be interesting tothe interesting to sort of see exactly how

(18:52):
that shakes out. But I didn'tforget about him. I just the way
this thing is shaken out. Idon't think Tyler Baty stands much of a
chance that an injury in order tomake this roster. Based on what I've
seen and with regard to reports aboutJavante, I would suspect that Samaj is
the one that is on the choppingblock, and not necessarily Javonte Williams unless
Samaji just takes a job from him. So so we'll see quarterback pretty easy.

(19:17):
I mean, I think everybody knowsthis team setting this thing up for
Bonnicks. If he doesn't take thejob, then Jarrett Stidham, he's probably
the guy. Zach Wilson was languishinga distant third throughout mini camps and OTAs
and all that stuff. Now couldhe close the gap, absolutely, But
as it sits right now, thatwould be the order with Bonix firmly is

(19:37):
the person that the Broncos want totake the job. Jarrett Stidham has looked
the best those far, which youknow he should. Again, he's got
year's experience. These other two guysdon't with this with these teammates and in
the system, So we'll see there, and I think it's what everybody will
have the right he talks about therunning backs, there is no competition at
fullback. It's that's Michael Burton's jobto uh to lose. We'll go to

(20:02):
tight end Uhlsich. It appears isgoing to be uh starting the gate healthy
this training camp. He'll be ata competition with Nate Atkins, Lucas Kroll,
and Adam Trautman. Probably gonna keepthree tight ends uh. And I
would suggest that the depth chart orderto start would have Troutman at the top,

(20:26):
Kroll uh number two and Dulsage numberthree. He Dulsa has got a
lot to prove he's not this regimesguy, and it'll be you know,
uh, it'd be tough sled forhim. First, he's got to prove
he can stay healthy. We've seenthe athletic potential, but you gotta be
you gotta be available. Thomas theAssaman is technically uh still there, but

(20:48):
he's got uh he's he's got aninjury designation. So I don't think that
you have to worry about that withwide receiver. If Courtland Sutton does indeed
stick around, and it's looking moreand more like that's probable for this year.
Him, Josh Reynolds, Marvin Vims, Tim Patrick, they make up
the big four. Reynolds is aguy who will play the slot and the

(21:11):
outside Courtland and Tim kind of bothplay the X Mims will play, you
know, rotate with Reynolds in termsof who's the slot guy, who's a
Z. You know, that's thatsort of thing. But those are the
big four. After that, you'vegot eight guys competing for what is probably
two spots. Valet and Franklin wereboth just drafted and and Valat looked the

(21:37):
best through excuse me, o,Ta's in mini camp thus far frouy.
Franklin's got a long way to go. I would not be surprised if he
were a healthy scratch all year, just based on where he is. He's
gonna need some seasoning. With theother guys, I mean, little Jordan
Humphrey is a guy who just keepsshowing up, and you know there's something
to be said for that. JalenVirgil, Brandon Johnson, those guys were
sort of fan favorites, but nowthere has really broken out. Brandon Johnson

(22:00):
has been more productive of the two. Virgil showing flashes but hasn't been able
to put it all together consistently. And you had Philip Dorsett, who obviously
was there for week one last year, and then just kind of not after
that, David Sills. I thinka lot of people forgotten he's on this
roster. Stills, of course, famously was the quarterback Lane Kiff and offered

(22:22):
at like thirteen years old, endedup converting to wide receiver and that's where
he is. And then Michael Bandycomes over from the Chargers. That's a
Lombardi guy, but he didn't reallydemonstrate anything. It made you think that
he was going to be a guyyou were keeping around last year. So
you know the big four Sutton,Patrick, Reynolds, Mims, that's pretty
locked in. Then you've got Franklinand Vallet and maybe maybe one other receiver

(22:47):
which is probably little Jordan Humphrey, and then the other guys I'm assuming go
to the practice squad for call upson the offensive line started the tackles,
Garrett Bowles, Mike McGlinchey. Thoseguys are the starters just by virtue of
the amount of money owed to him. The backups right now, Matt Pert
and Quinn Bailey. Bailey's been aroundfor a minute. Alex Polshowski, I

(23:08):
think we'll get a shot at that. Frank Crumb was undrafted. He did
get drafted by the UFL or theUSFL now UFL whatever, he did get
drafted there, and so you know, if he doesn't work out, he's
got a landing spot to get somereps and then kind of make another run
at it next year. I thinkyou're probably keeping obviously Bowls and mcglinchee,

(23:30):
you're probably keeping two more tackles. So that probably means that either Matt Pert
or Alec Polshewski or Quinn Bailey,of those three, you probably keep it
two. I don't see them keepingDemontree Jacobs and Frank Crumb hasn't shown anything
yet. We'll see as we get, you know, get on into camp.
At the guard positions, Ben Powersand Quinn Miners are obviously going to

(23:51):
be starters again by virtue of themoney the depth. Here's then you got
three guys depending on what happens withthe center position and if you go Wattenberg,
if not, then you met itfor but Nick Julio, who was
just drafted, then you've got CalvinThrockmorton and Will Sherman, and none of
those guys really I think strikes fearand everybody. You're really hoping that powers

(24:14):
and minor at stay stay pretty healthy. At the center position, You've got
three centers on the roster, andthat's Luke Wattenberg who I mentioned, who
could also play guard, Alex Forsyth, who I'd like to see win the
job, and then Sam Mustifer whoplayed for Baltimore previously. Although I mean,
you know, you don't want todog somebody, but it wasn't very

(24:36):
good. You go back and lookat the tape. He just wasn't very
good. Certainly provides veteran depth atthe position, but not really somebody that
if you're counting on long term, that's that's probably not the direction that you're
going. Looking at the defensive sideof the ball, you know, the

(24:59):
defensive line, there's a healthy doseof bodies. Now you sort of you
sort of think that with the systemthat the Broncos run, you'll keep six
guys. Uh, they can belabeled ends and nose tackles. Zach Allen,
D J. Jones, Jonathan Franklin, Myers. Those those three are
set in stone. After that you'vegot Malcolm Roach, Angela Blackson, and

(25:21):
Matt henningson those guys probably probably arethe guy unless they get hurt. And
then the last four guys that you'recarrying on the roster at those positions right
now, Jordan Jackson sold some flashesin camp last year was he's got a
tough road. Because you've got ElijahGarcia as well. I think those two
would be the favorites. And thenyou've got Jordan Miller and Brandon Matterson who

(25:44):
who you added undrafted, and Idon't think either one of those those guys
are at best probably practice squad unlessthere's injuries or they suddenly ball out.
The edge rush position suddenly has aton of depth. Who emerges from that
as starters sort of remains to beseen. Baron Browning, John Cooper,

(26:08):
Nick Bonito, and Jonah Ellis whois just drafted are the big four there.
But then after that you got RonniePerkins and Thomas InCom two guys that
made You've kept around for multiple yearsand they sort of have found a way
to stick around. Can they geton the field and make an impact.

(26:29):
I don't think too many of theother guys that they brought in really stand
much of a chance, Jaylen Allen, h Durell and Chammi and and DeAndre
Tillman, excuse me, Andrea Tilman. Tilman being the guy from the UFL
that that they paid. Tillman's probablya practice squad candidate. I don't think
the others really are. And thenDrew Sanders, who kind of fits in

(26:49):
that although he's on the pup fitsboth inside and out, you know,
kind of see where he winds upwith inside backer. You're probably keeping four
maybe five. Alex Singleton obviously becauseof the money, Cody Barton again the
money, Jonas Griffith, who theyreally like and have had big plans for
but hasn't stayed healthy. And thenyou've got Drew Sanders, Justin Sternad,

(27:14):
Andre Smith as well as Lavell Bailey. And that's four names vying for one
maybe two spots. Andre Smith cameover from Atlanta where he was pretty good.
Starnad has stuck around through several trainingcamps despite injuries. Sanders has been
hurt and is it not realized hispotential. Lavell Bailey an undrafted guy who
you know has a chance, butyou got that's tight competition. You have

(27:37):
four guys for for one or twospots, that's that's pretty tight competition.
And you'll notice we keep saying thatwe've got several guys for a few spots.
It hasn't always been that way.I would say that that's probably something
that if you're a Broncos fan, you're you're pretty excited about the fact that
you've got multiple guys fighting for spot. And while nobody wants to see somebody

(27:59):
cut, what you're really suggesting hereis that the talent level of the roster
has gotten better to the point whereyou've got several guys fighting over fewer spots.
Anytime you've got that, you've you'vegot a better roster, uh,
you know, and that that sortof in the end, what you're looking
for on the corner front, Uh, you know, pats are Tann and

(28:21):
Jaquan McMillan are gonna be the uhyou know, the starter in the slot.
McMillan may get a chance on theoutside of CEB two, but definitely
the starting slot. And Nickel thencomes sort of the question marks. Riley
Moss to Muri mathis two guys thathave been drafted and back to back years

(28:42):
we haven't really seen enough of yet. Mathis, you know, uh started
slow then got hot that in hissecond year just looked lost. And well
we'll see Levi Wallace right now ispenciled in. Is the other starter opposite
Sir tan Moss, Mathis Abrams Drain. It was just drafted. It's probably

(29:03):
more of a bigger slot guy.But we'll see uh Don Smith the roster
more for special Team's ability and probablysticks because of that. And then you've
got Rhys Taylor and Tanner McAllister.I don't think either one of those guys
are in a lot of danger ofmaking the roster. Art Green Quintin Newsome.

(29:26):
I'm not sure any of those guysreally are Art Green. The last
year they thought he might be something, but I just haven't seen anything thus
far. We'll see if they makethe jump here in year two. I
would say Green probably out of allof those guys, has has the best
shot. But you're probably keeping sixcorners all said and done, which means
Wallace or Tam McMillan for sure,Riley Moss, Abrams Drain, and then

(29:49):
probably Demor Mathis, and then maybethe seventh guys Tremont Smith is the special
teams guy, and then you knowthe rest of these all of a sudden
become practice squads. So we'll kindof see the safety positioned. H Delara
Turnery Yell and Cadence Stearns are bothon the pop, so that's gonna open
up some spots. You're probably keepingfour safeties, maybe five because you know,

(30:12):
Vance Joseph likes to run to heavynickel a little bit more where you've
got three safeties on the field,so you may keep five. Uh pj
Locke and and Brandon Jones will willbe the starters right now. Stearns would
have had a role, but againyou're on the pop. De Laren TURNERYO.
Steve Atwater says he's got a littlesomething to his game. So it's

(30:37):
you know, frustrating that both thoseguys are on the pup and we'll see,
you know, kind of kind ofwhere they go. Another guy,
I think the fans are interested inhis jail Skinner, the big body safety
out of uh out of Boise. You know, George Peyton made it a
point to mention him when we're atthe combine that you know that that he's

(30:59):
sort of impressed. They've sort offorgotten about a due to injury. He
gets out of the field, getsa chance to based the tackles, and
then all of a sudden, theyyou know, they get they get sort
of impressed again. Devon Key somebodythat they they've kind of looked at.
But to me, it feels likea practice squad guy. And you've got
Omar Brown and Kedrian Smith as well. I think those guys are practice squad
guys or camp bodies. Will uh, we'll see. On the special teams

(31:22):
front, Mitchell Ferboni's the only longsnapper currently even rostered, so no competition
there. Uh. Will Lutz Kickersame same deal, uh, and he
started slow but got a lot betteras uh as the season went along.
On the puntering front, you gottwo punters, Riley Dixon and Trent and
Gill Dixon obviously with the inside trackand the money that seems to to make

(31:44):
sense. But we'll see if Trentand Gill can take it from him,
and then we you know, wetalked a little bit earlier about the returners.
Right now, Marvin Mims is scheduledto start uh at both but I
suspect he'll only be a punt guyby the end. Of the season,
whereas kick return will probably be somebodylike Julia McLoughlin, Tremont Smith, Blake

(32:06):
Watson, those kind of guys. They did try an interesting uh Devon Vallet
back there at part return. It'sa big body pot returner. You know,
we're talking. I was talking withDave Logan the other day about,
you know, being a part returnerand he was one in college and he
was one of the biggest part returnersever and had return touchdowns. So you
know, that's that's kind of interesting. I think too, you know,
to have a bigger body back thereas a as a return man like that,

(32:29):
if you can get it in longstride, you know, then you
can uh, then you can makean impact five six sixty nine there.
Let me know what you think.Who you guys are most looking at?
Who win training camp rolls around assomebody you've got your eyeballs on. I
think everybody's kind of got the quarterbackthing that they're uh that they're looking at.

(32:49):
But yeah, I'm I'm looking atsome of these other things. I
Mean, the receiver room's pretty crowded, the running back room looks interesting,
and then who's gonna win that job? But you know, at center on
the defensive side of the ball.Again, I think that there's some some
interesting things happening. So I don'tthink that this is all a quarterback training
camp, although certainly a lot offans will we'll be looking at that.

(33:15):
I don't know if you guys sawthe Bucks, the Tampa Bucks. Baker
Mayfield was out of the American CenturyCelebrity Golf Tournament and he was talking about
how he's in the best shape ofhis life. He found his routine,
found a gym, found some trainers, and you know, honestly committed himself
to get his body right where hesaid, he's come in a little bit

(33:36):
sloppy, you know, said,I'll tell you what. I spent about
five days in League Taoe for thegolf tournament, which you know, I
unbelieve is going up the elevations, the mountains, no humidity, and coming
back down to Tampa. It's toughto get used to. But I feel
good. I feel good with theconditioning and all that, and now that
it's about making sure you hydrate theheat and prepping the right way. Mayfield
his wife Emily, had a babygirl back on April ninth, but he's

(33:58):
doing his best to avoid Dad.Boden said the off season conditioning is some
best shape he's ever been in,you know, talking about you know,
little chunky and all that kind ofstuff. So it'd be interesting to see
if, if you know, Bakercan continue to build on what he put
together last year. The Bucks believehe can do it, you know.

(34:19):
Obviously Dave Canalys has moved on isnow the head coach of the Panthers,
but Leam Cohen in there is apretty good oc and so I'm fascinating to
see what Tampa does. And shoutout to former Buck Shack Barrett for retiring
for the NFL. Former Buck, former Bronco retired from the NFL after nine
seasons to spend more time with hisfamily. Signed with Miami, but just
didn't have anymore. So shout outto uh to Shaq Barrett. You listen
