(00:24):
What do the Denver Broncos have to do with his
first preseason game against the Annapolis Colts.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
That's easy, man, That show.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
That you could just line up right and before you
get too many production, can you line up?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Can you communicate?

Speaker 3 (00:42):
That's the first thing, because even though you look at
the Broncos officeive line, I don't really know how much
that officeive.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Line collectively will play together.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Even if you look into the backup guys, can you communicate?
Because there are three quarterbacks here for the Denver Broncos,
all of which I that the team keeps obviously both
Nicks being the guy, they're going to keep him.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
But in order for us to have.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
A great evaluation of the wide receivers of the quarterback themselves.
That offensive line has to play as a cohesive unit
and they have to communicate.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Can you pick up the blizzes?

Speaker 3 (01:17):
And usually in the preseason we don't see elaborate schemes,
but once again, those other coaches they got to evaluate
too as well, So we may see a couple of
blitzed packages.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
But can the guys communicate?

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Can Riley Moss if he's out there on the field,
what does he look like? Because last season he played,
but he never played any of the corner position. Now
he's going to be a projected as being the guy
that plays opposite or in competition to play opposite PS two.
So can those guys elevate their level play? We're going
into week two of the preseason, you go, you know what,

(01:51):
I've seen some flashes and a lot of players that
give me optimism about the season.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
When we look at preseason, it is funny because the
saying that I've always had is in the regular season,
nothing matters but the final score. In the preseason, everything
matters except the final score. They don't keep track of
the wins and losses in preseeds didn't matter, but every
snap matters. To probably every player out there, this is
your DNA, is your tape. For some guys, this is

(02:18):
your audition.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Right.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
It feels like that this particular one will be a
lot more paired down. I mean, first week of preseason
typically is it's base install type stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
You're not getting a game planning, you know, in that regard.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
I was just curious if there was any different way
to approach this game since you are facing this opponent
here in Denver later on in the season.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Well, without this throughout the game.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
It's going to present certain in game situations. So this
is where as coaches from office defensive standpoint, you can
get somewhat of an idea. Now you're not gonna get
all the answer to the tests.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
But you can get a couple ideas.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
If they're fourth and short, what do they like to do?
And obviously with the personnel group is in and a
lot of these cases the starters are not going to
be in, you still start to build somewhat of a
book of Okay, well, even though the starters are not in,
they like this formation in this particular group, and they
like to throw it here or run it here. This

(03:20):
is what the Broncos can learn from this game. And
who's to say that you always have to stick to
the preseason script. You don't have to. You can make
some of your your kind of gotcha plays in there.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Well. See, that's what I was talking about this the
other day.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
I was like, you know, if I were shot Payton,
I might throw a player or two in there early,
just so that you know, a couple of months down
the line, when you play this team, they're thinking about it,
you know, and practicing. Okay, we got to practice this,
so you're taking away from practice time on other things
to practice that that week.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
I might throw a thing or two at him in
this game. Why not?

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Man, it is the preseason, and I know watching Broncos practices, everyone.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Gets you know.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
I don't want to say what I really want to say,
I can't really say, but individuals get upset when they
see turnovers take place. I'm like, you know what, this
is the best place for these turnovers to actually take place,
because it's learning, it's practice. So hopefully on either side

(04:30):
of the ball that the Broncos to throw some rinkles at
Indy or not even not Indy. It may just be
aimed at Seatle week one to make multipurpose, yes, to
make them think that, oh, they get in this formation
with this person they're grouping. Could they run the same
play they ran in preseason? I don't know, but then
you have another play built in off of that one.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
That's how you set things up.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Right, And so that's you're setting it up not just
within the within the fabric of a game, you're setting
it up within the arc of a season as well.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Because people are scouting.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
The tape, they're looking at all all these plays, all
the formations. I'm penciling everything in here. Okay, this is
what they do. They're hitting the slant here. Well, then
you come back week one, you're hit the slug o
you know, and and boom, now.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
All of a sudden to say, yeah, right, so I'm
I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
I was thinking about this the other and ask like,
you know, if I'm showing Payton, I might throw a
wrinkle or two in this game.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
And early too, so it gets some attention.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
So that you're thinking about it, you know, not late
in the game when you're just emptying out the roster
and all that.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
The first quarter, you know, get to get.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Some you go over the top on something creative early
and kind of kind of see if maybe you get
you get these this team and perhaps other teams thinking
about you.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
And it is the thing also because your kids a
team slipping and and there are certain areas of the
game where you can attempt this. Who was to say,
de Broncos get their first possession? Why not do it
on play one?

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Why not? What's the worst that can happen? Why not
try to sell we were?

Speaker 1 (05:53):
We were should tell a story, but I guess I've started.
We've had a few ever. Just it was that time
of the morning, about four am, and I can't I
was selling this dude, hord On coming out the opening
play of the season and doing some kind of fake
building off Scangarella's You remember that tight end sweep thing anyway, right,
and so I'm like, you need to fake the tight

(06:15):
end in round play action, go and go deep with it,
just to just to troll everybody.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
I was selling him on that song. And he would
not do it. He wouldn't do it, He would not
do it.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
I can't tell him he needed to fake handoff to
Jerry Judy too, like the Jets sweep, you know, like
just give him the ball actually gives him sounds like
you know, you gotta there's some there's some there's some insider.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
You know, there's some inside something.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
I kept trying, you wouldn't do it, so but you know,
I I do believe that there is something to be
said for setting things up over the course of the
season by by making people think about it. Have to
practice to things that you've shown, whether you intend to
do them or not. Dad, Lie, what are things the
Broncos can't do in this game? Well, the one thing
they can do is run all over that. That was

(07:02):
kind of a calling card for.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
The defense last year, and I know based on the
personnel moves on defense they try to show up that
particular area. You want guys to go out there, play hard,
with their hair on fire, and just tackle.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
If you're in a position to make a tackle. It
doesn't have to be.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Technical, coach clinic type tackle to get him down.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
At the end of the day, figure now, don't do
the hip drop tackle.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
I'm still trying to figure out that this whole thing
with the hip top tackle drivet. But even if you do,
even if you do, at the end of the day,
as a coach, at least I know that you show
that you were willing to make a tackle posted someone
just standing there, buy any time to someone else, Come no,
get the guy on the ground. And once again, I
want to see guys run around and have fun. Yeah,

(07:54):
you're competing for jobs and at some point and this
preseason process, they're gonna have to cut down the ross.
But you just want to go out there and have
fun because if you, in my experience, if you go
out there thinking too much right and pressing, see you
give up big plays and you get someone or yourself hurt.

(08:14):
You brought there and have fun because I don't know
a by two. Anytime I'm having fun, I'm not stressed out. Yeah,
I'm not stressed out.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
And things become instinctual instead of thinking of that, which
is the way that they should be. Is there more
pressure on the offensive line this year than ever? And
I say that because not only do you have a
rookie quarterback who at some point is going to be
the starter, whether that's week one, week eight, whatever, you
also probably have a center that hasn't played much. You've
got to have some protection. Calls that are going to
have to be made. Is Quinn Minors making those calls?

(08:43):
Is the center making those calls, the quarterback making those calls.
Is there more pressure on this offensive line because of that?

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (08:48):
It is.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
And if you had a veteran quarterback, maybe be a
little different because he can bail them out with certain calls.
When you go through the evaluates the process with the
quarterback coming out of college, you want to make sure
that he checks the box, hand size and all those
other things. But can't he recognize the blitz himself. Can't

(09:09):
he check you in and gets you out of plays?
That's gonna be really key.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Well that that leads into where I wanted to go
with this because I talked about a touchdown brazy when
Steve was here.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
He's looking at these quarterbacks and who's set the table?

Speaker 1 (09:20):
You know Oregon, when you when you watched bow play
at Oregon, there's so much dressing up before the snaps,
smoking mirrors and all this kind of stuff, And it
really isn't something where the quarterback has to set the table.
They got better athletes than most teams they play, and
they're dressing it up, you know, with some syomatic advantages.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Early Sean Payton's not gonna do this.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Sean Payton is gonna You're gonna run what Sean Payton
wants to run, you know, and he's got his.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Own things that he'll kind of kailer.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
And we've seen him taylor the offense to Taysom Hill
or Da Breeze or whatever. That's not to say it's
I gotta tailor it to Bow. But he's not gonna
run what they ran at Oregon. I mean, that doesn't
really work in the NFL anyway.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
How if you're.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Sean Payton, do you how do you come to the
concl Okay, bo is ready to run this thing? Well,
at what point do you sit there and say, you
know what, Okay, he's got this, We're ready to go.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
When coach Payton calls a play, and like you said,
usually when he calls plays, he wants his quarterback to
run that play that he called.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Well, we saw what happens when you don't right.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Right, So for Bow, what happens is Sean calls a
play and then Bowl identifies there's something wrong in the
defense right, and now he checks out of a play
and is successful. Because that's the.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Point about trust, yes, because can you at the end
of the day.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
This is what it is. Can you put the offense
in a position to succeed. Either the play call coming
in from the court from the offensive coordinator is going
to do that, or the quarterback who's on the field, who.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Is seeing the pieces move around.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Because at the end of the day, coaches, coach, players,
play and cheerlead this year. So it's about that play
being on the field, having the football IQ and and
understanding the playbook where.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
He can check plays right. So that's where a bold
maturation process is.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Going to have to go to, being able to check
in out of a play that gives the offense an
opportunity to succeed.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
So that what you're saying is the quarterback has now
worked through what he sees out there and decided that
the play call is not the solution he's got.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
You know, he has to reach into the unibles. Right.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
This is the thing that that really bothers me, right,
because you call the play in, you call it based
on down the distance in the personnel that the defense
is showing you your own personnel, right, But that quarterback
is the guy on the field. This is this is
why it's it's highly underestimated what Peyton Manning did in
his career. There's not too many quarterbacks that can do

(11:49):
that where he can see something to go no, like
like like a picture and the catcher wave you offhake
it off.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
The sign I'm going to something that's a good that's
a good way to put it to.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
I think the pitch and the catch a relationship because
most people think of it as a coach dictating all
those kinds, which is a sense there is some of that.
But at the same time, the play caller getting the
play in is saying, this is my best guest based
on down distance personnel. Uh and here's you know and
it has a solution and it's gotta you know, middlefield,
old midfield, closed concept, whatever, you know, whatever your peers are,
and it is your quarterback is.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Working through what he's seeing.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
He's saying, Okay, the solution for this is not in
what has been called. We're checking to what you know this.
So that's what we need to look for in this
coat game coming up. We need to see bow Nicks
check out of a play and be successful in it.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Yeah, And this is where confidence grows with bow himself.
And because there's the difference between Sean Payton and the
coaching staff having confidence in Bo opposed to bow having
confidence that he can play and excel on this level.
Because most players who are drafting and who in camp

(12:50):
feel as though they can play in this league.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
You have to, right, You have to believe in yourself
before anybody else.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
But the other part of it, and this is where
growth and evolution as a players takes place.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
So you know you can succeed in this league.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Everyone feels as though they can play, but can you
succeed in the league, And this is where the growth
of Bowl needs to come to fruition. This is why
I'm saying there is no rush to get him in
as a starter week one in Seattle.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
First of all, it's a monster to play in Seattle.
Let me tell you.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Coaching there in San Francisco, we were behind the glass
in the box and it was still noisy, So imagine
what it is like on the field. And you thrust
a young quarterback who may not have full control of
the playbook in that environment, you can crush his confidence.
And I'm not saying that that's gonna happen or could
happen to Bowl, but I've seen where that's happened to

(13:46):
a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
I have six six nine zeros of text.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
I got some text coming in that I wanted to read, Brian,
thanks for that. I can get back to you on
that BSPK as special seven to two oh talk with
an Auburn fan who said Nick will get pressure and
become one read and scramble to the right. Will this
offensive line be the same?

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Well, I'll say this, Behind any offensive line and including
the differ Broncos the ability to scramble and kind of
navigate the pocket, it's going to be key.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
We saw it last season with Russell. I don't even know.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
I know a lot of people got upset because certain
things that Russell did.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
The to them. Scrambled differently too. Russ gets out the
back door.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Bow's usually out the see gap of the B gap
on the right side, right and.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
The difference between the two. You know sometime and Russell
will scrambling. He's scrambling to throw the ball, but he
may take his eyes off downfield right away.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Bowl scrambled his eyes a downfield.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
This is why if you are Broncos wide receivers, no
matter who's in the game with Bowl, whether it's the
game on Sunday or the second preseason game, you always
have to remember that your first this route may be covered,
but you gotta scramble to get open, right. Don't just
run a route like we saw last season, guys running
routes and just stopping right right, scrambled drill.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
You gotta have rules, right, every time you run a route.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
You got a thing that's to scrambling drid because guess what,
Russ was mobile, right, And you think about Zach, you
think about Stidham, and you think about bo All mobile quarterbacks, right,
and some coaches hate that because they want the quarterback
to stay right in between the tackles and do exactly
the way that they they want them to do.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
That's not today's NFL. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Yeah, you
know what. Sorry, not sorry. We don't. We don't line
up in the aisle game either.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
And you know, like Joe Flacco was a man born
twenty years too late, he would have been he.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Would have been perfect, perfect, you know he's he's Benny Kosar. Yeah,
it's Bernie Cours. Excuse me. A couple of good texts here.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
The seven one night on the weather outside reminds you
of fall getting excited for football.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Go Broncos. That's a good one.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Uh, do your job, Nick, that's from the three six
h What was that for here? I think that's the
Josh McDaniels. Oh okay, he's just Jess mcdani's thing. Some
people asking about Mount Rushmore quarterback comps. You know what
I compared When Pat Mahomes was with Texas Tech entered
the draft. I had been on Twitter and I said
this guy could be the second coming of Brett Farve.

(16:18):
And I was getting just lamb basted for saying that,
and I think I undersold.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
You can't compare him to a Hall of Favor. And
I'm like, he's like, look at this arm, Like look
at this arm talent, you know, And yeah, I guess
I undersold on them. We got hit a break. We
come back at the NFL six Pack. Broncos Country to Night.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Welcome back to it, Broncos Country Tonight. Benjamin Olbrighten, Nick Ferguson,
Grant Smith here with you. KWAIT Training Camp powered by
Chevron Colorado and Sporty Pickle Bar and Grill see Official
Training Camp Bar and Grill k WA Sports Networks. It's
five minutes here from Camp at eighty six to forty
South Peoria, Sporty pickle dot Com and with that.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
It's getting the NFL six pack. It's time for the
NFL six path.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
I'm going to trink a last year an insight and
inside information you can't find anywhere else. No.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Six, the top six NFL d mind.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
What the San Francisco forty nine ers still deciding what
to do with Brandon Ayuk. Seems unlikely that Ayu will
play for the Niners this season, but coach Kyle Shanahan
isn't ruling it out. Ayuk remains with the team whilthough
he's participating in a holding in by not practicing. He
has requested a trade, and the Niners are talking to
teams about a deal since they haven't been able to
reach an agree with Ayuk and.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
A long term deal.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
In a perfect world, you'd love for Ayuk and the
Niners to work out a deal, Shanahan said camb Are
on Thursday night.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
But there's sides to it.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
There's us, there's what we want, it's also what he wants,
and there's a whole contract.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
And stuff to that.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
It's a tough part of the business in the league
in some years can be harder than others. This is
a difficult one, it's something you're always holding out hope
for him. The Steelers and Brown's both remaining contention for Ayuk,
whose agent has permission to negotiate a contract with other teams.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
It's complicated with the team needing to work out.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
A deal with the Niners and a deal with Ayuk's
agent both to facilitate a trade. Shanahan would ought to say,
so there's got to be two teams tied to that,
and Ba's also got to agree on that too. So
anytime it takes three things, it's not that easy looking
at every possibility.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Right now, Ayuk is scheduled to.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Make fourteen million on a fifth year option, but it's
a deal with an annual average more than double that.
The impasse began with the off season he continues into
the first week of preseason. Shanahan was asked whether he
holps a resolution comes soon. Whatever the resolution, he did
say his hopes sooner than later. It's interesting because there
were reports out there that it was a quote done

(18:36):
deal by some anonymous Twitter accounts that Ayuk was going
to the Steelers, and while he may wind up with
the Steelers, there's absolutely no deal in place and any
reporting on that has been false.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Well, I know they added Robbie chosen Yes to the roster.
Does that change anything and play a major role?

Speaker 2 (18:56):
No, it doesn't.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
I'll say this, Brendan i Yuk has earned the money
that he's asking for.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
When you look around the league, and I.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Know we've seen during the offseason a lot of young
wide receivers get paid, but this guy is a key
cod to what they do. The only problem is that
they have several they being the forty nine ers players
who are making a substantial amount of money. So he
may find himself on an out and this may be
great for him because I could tell you living in

(19:24):
San Francisco, everything is high high, So this may be
a blessing to his guys where he gets out and
goes to a team maybe in the southern region where
you're just not paying as much taxes.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Right now, it looks like the Steelers, but we'll see
how that shakes out again. The Cleveland Browns are in
that as well. He wanted to go to Washington, but
they kind of pulled out of that pretty early.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
So see, I thought that because Martin Mayhew and ap
were there. Well, Dayton was his teammate back in college too.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
Yeah, And I just thought, just Adam, you know, being
the second man to John Lynch, it'll be able to
work something out. Not in the same I mean they're
in the same conference, they're not in the same division,
so why not.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Just a thought.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Next story two didn't take long for Cowboys owner Jerry
Jones' comments about wide receiver Seed Lamb's contract to generate
a response from the players. Jones said, in response to
a question about Lamb's ongoing holdout in search of a
new deal that he does not quote have any urgency
to get it done. Lamb replied to a social media
post about the comment, writing lol. And quarterback Dak Prescott

(20:24):
made his own reference to jones remarks during his press
conference from training camps, saying, quote, I know y'all want
to ask I got urgency for it to happen. That's
by Nick Harris of the team's website. Prescott said he
thinks it'll literally take a couple of practices for him
to get back on the same page with Lamb. But
it does seem like if you happier camp, or if
you were to get more time with the top white
out before the Cowboys face the Browns in week one,

(20:45):
where we think about Jerry Jones saying he does not
have any urgency to get it done with Ceedee Lamb.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Well, that's spoken like a true owner, and at this
point he really doesn't because he has other things that
were about Deck's Prescott contract and Michael Parson's contract. Now
Dak is concerned because guess what. He knows that his
numbers can escalate both from a statistical standpoint and mathematical

(21:14):
contract standpoint, if Ceedee Lamb is on the field, So
he wants them to get some kind of deal done.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
But look, I know how the business football works.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Jerry is used to making these power plays and he's
doing it right now. He's putting his foot down. I'm
not moving. I don't have to. My name is by George,
Jerry Joe. We'll see how that works out, obviously.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Yeah, Dak Prescott, ha's got a contract coming up, certainly
wants his top target out there in an effort to
bolster his numbers as he seeks a deal in the
range of sixty million per year on average. Next story three,
Drew Locke left after a hit in the first quarter.
Giants were forced to use several quarterbacks last season due
to injury, and they had to make another change in
the first quarter of Thursday Nights preseason OPRAH against the Lions.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Locke started for the Giants and left after.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Taking a hit while developing delivering an incompletion on the
team's third offensive possession. Tommy Devido replaced Locke and in
the game for the next drive, Locke remained on the sideline.
He has set to be the backup to Daniel Jones,
who did not play as he continues to work back
from last year's torn acl Locke was four of ten
for seventeen yards and an interception. Was also sacked once

(22:22):
and pressured multiple times during his brief appearance. The Giants
said Locke as a hip injury and would have been
able to return. Does Drew Locke stand have a chance
of taking the job up there in New York?

Speaker 3 (22:33):
You know, I thought he did the only thing that
DeRose his opportunity because he's with the Giants, and the
Giants didn't do a great job last year protecting Daniel Jones.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
And if you're thinking.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
That somehow they're going to protect Drew lock and I
know it's the preseason game, to me, it makes it
really difficult. No Taquon Barkley to help bail you out.
I mean, it's tough sledding for Drew Lock, Danie Jones
and whomever was playing quarterback for the New York So
how don't envy any of these guys in this situation?

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Yeah, I you know.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
I mean Drew chose to go there because he felt
like he was gonna get the opportunity to start.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
I always thought that.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
That was a bad fit for him, just based on
the style of offense that they play. And then on
top of that, that offensive line is offensive, probably is
the best way to say that, and Drew needs a
good offensive line in order to be successful. He's a
guy that stares people down, he does hang onto the
ball too long, and he's a guy that would need that.
So that felt like a bad fit for me from
the jump. But you know, well, let me add something

(23:32):
else to that. I mean, Dan Jones was sacked thirty times.

Speaker 3 (23:35):
The Vita was sacked thirty seven, right, So once again,
that makes life difficult to be a passer from the
pocket if the guys up front are not giving you
ideal time to go through your progressions.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
I wish the best for Drew, but that does not
look like a situation is trending in the right direction
for him.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Next story or.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
Aaron Rodgers didn't practice today after Jets coach Robert Sala
woke up and saw the inclube, but whether he decided
to sit his forty year old quarterback in a joint
practice with the Commanders, said, He's taking every rep in practice,
so I just felt it was unnecessary. Rogers, whose heeled
achilles tendon is allowed to fully participate in training, can't
push back when told of Sala's decision. Jets, though, have

(24:19):
joint practices with the Panthers and Giants over the next
two weeks.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
He wanted to go, but in the.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
Grand scheme of things, trying to keep forward thinking with
regards to week one, we got a long way for that.
He'll have other opportunities coming up against Carolina and the Giants.
Sala recently said his instinct is that Rogers would not
play in the preseason this year. Rogers pushed back on
that too, saying it was news to him that he
wouldn't play in the preseason. Rogers played ten snaps in
the final preseason game.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
In twenty twenty three. Maybe he might win that win
this year.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Salah said Thursday that he and Rodgers had preliminary discussions
abou him playing in the third exhibition game events the
aforementioned New York Giants.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Nothing has been decided.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
If you were Robert Sala, would you start Aaron Rodgers
in the third preseason game.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
We don't know. No, I'm not doing it.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
I mean the idea is that, I mean this is
not even look at his age, but look at what
happened last season. I mean it was a lot of
hooply around the New York Jets, and then all of
a sudden, Aaron Rodgers goes down because his left and
right guard can't i mean, tackles cannot protect him. So
the ideas that, no, we want to even if we
have to wrap him and bubble wrap, the ideas getting

(25:24):
to week one and then getting through four quarters healthy.
That's the idea for Robert Soller and Aaron Rodgers, and
the whole idea of not starting logging him in to
practice today because the inclement rather damn right, because you're
dealing with him a kid of his injury. You don't
want to repeat of what happened last season, So let's

(25:45):
take it easy.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Next story five, Marvin Harrison Junior is set to play
in the Cardinals preseason openers. Still can't buy Cardinals jersey
with Marvin Harrison Junior's name in eighteen, but you will
be able to watch him wear.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
One on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
Cardinals head coach John Gannon said on Thursday that Harrison
will be in the lineup for the.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Team's preseason opener.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
Cardinals hosts the Saints with a seven pm Eastern kickoff.
Harrison will not be catching any passes from Kyler Murray
during the game, or he's not gonna play, which will
leave Desmond Ritter and or Clayton Tune to handle the
quarterback duties. Cardinals will face the Colts and then the
Broncos in their final two preseason games, but have not
said whether they expect Harrison to play in each of

(26:25):
their August contests.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
At this point, rookie wide receiver. Good to get him
out there and.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Get him reps versus you know, the aging quarterback of
the Jets.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
Well, it's always great to get a young prospect a
couple of reps, get them comfortable, because once again, this
is a game of entertainment, and usually fans don't really
show up for preseason games. They show up for regular
season games. But give them a reason to come out
and be very optimistic by the team that no one's
really giving. You know, two Nichols are saying as though

(26:57):
this is going to be a playoff contending team. Yeah,
you get fit and something to look forward to. And
Martin Harrison, I mean he was kind of like that that,
you know, like he lived in the shadows. He didn't
work out, he was stealing, drafted, he got this ongoing
thing with fanatics and his jersey. Yes, at least give
us an opportunity to see him because we haven't really
seen him.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
That's kind of the idea for the Cardiners.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Yeah, I think they need to get him out there
and get him going with all this other stuff that's
going on, to be nice to just see the player
and get excited about that. Sext story six, the NCAA
released penalties from Michigan and its investigation over COVID dead.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Period recruiting violations.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
This is not the Connor sign Stallions signs in which
Michigan The Connor Stallion's thing is funny because Michigan did
something that is completely legal, but they made it illegal
by having their guy. Everybody everybody goes and uses the
film to see the signs on the sideline.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
They sent a guy, which is the only way it
makes it illegal, But that's beside the point.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
The NNAA released their penalties and they include a hammering
of Jim Harball for violating recruiting inducement rules engaging in
out of ethical conduct. If he were to return to
college football over the four year showcase excuse me, show
caused period, Harball would be suspended for a full season
per the NC double A.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
These are pretty serious.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
I mean in terms of the verbiage or the language
that the NC DOUBLEA used or these COVID violations. Was
Harball just characterized initially as cheeseburgers and obviously weren't. The
NCUBLEA does have precedent with disciplining a college coach coming
to the pro game. Jim Tressel at Ohio State was suspended,

(28:34):
and he when he came to work for the Colts
back in the day.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
So I while I'm told that I.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
Don't think any discipline is forthcoming from the league for
Jim Harball, it does appear that he was blatantly dishonest
in terms of what he characterized these violations as and
what they actually were.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Yeah, it's kind of tough to know that he's put
in Michigan in this particular predicament. Now he's gone to
the NFL and any kind of a three year probation
or whatever it is. That's if he were to come
back to college football, and I'm sure he's gonna. I mean,
the charge is paying him a boatload of money. He

(29:14):
made a lot of money with Michigan. Why would he
come back to college football knowing as though there is
some kind of suspension and penalty waiting.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
For him and he's already done.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
He's already won a national championship. What else is there
to conquer at college? That's why he stayed at Michigan.
In order to win, he got to coming to the
River Bronx. Yes, yes, he wanted to win the Natty.
I already got the Natty and I got the money.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Some good that the Broncos dog a bulletry at all?

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Man, Hey like like Neo and the Matrix. The Dods
are like Neo and the Matrix.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Oh that's your NFL six pack? Uh? Programming No.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
We got two full live shows next week Wednesday and Thursday.
It'll be a lot of fun. We got the Packers,
I believe coming to town. Yes, that's what I love.
I love joint practices, man, They're always fun. You always
get something unexpected. I think I've told the stories.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Something unexpected, like like like the fisticuffs.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Well that too.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
I always I connect with some player about something. There's
always some weird connection that happens at these things. I
remember the Bears were out here. Have told the story
about Chase Daniel putting on the fake mustache in the
disguise and shadowing him as he was getting autograss from
his own teammates, which was one of the highlights of
my professional career because it was hilarious how many guys

(30:26):
did not recognize him before.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
I think it was Javon Wims and Mitchell Truisty be like,
wait a minute.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Chase, so you know what you can do? Speaking of
which I mean, there's a receiver. I think you went
to San Diego named Michael Batty.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Right. I think you guys, you know, look a little like.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
You're saying all white people look like That's what I said,
don't know what I said, you saw right, I said,
you look like him.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
So maybe maybe.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
When the packers come, I would love to see Bandy
Jersey On to go over there pretending Michael Bandy get
into one O one just to clean.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
First, Like wait this bro, I thought you was you
know what, that would be hilarious if you did that.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
I've been lobbying for some kind of like something like
that for a while and they just won't let me
do it, like you know, a whole fake like au
doing a fake.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Documentary like a mockumentary.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
Where I'm trying out for the Broncos, you know kind
of thing and putting it all and just getting smoked
every play, you know, but like everybody's giving interviews like
he's out there trying, you know, like it and you
see the clin you just getting just destroyed.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
I don't know who this kid is, but he's got
that try hard attitude, right, you got that dogging man.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
He will not stay down, you know, just like just
thought Rudy was that guy. This is the second comment.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
Like the guy just getting punched in the face repeatedly,
you know, is this I wanted to do something like
that a while back, and.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
They ended up. You know, they wouldn't. They weren't going
for it. But I I've cooled with a few I.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
Wanted to do like a whole You've ever seen between
two ferns, you know what I'm talking about?

Speaker 2 (31:56):
No, I have Zach glfan Akis.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
He does his fake talk show and he's like sitting
on this crappy stage and it's like a comedic thing
where you act.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
Yes, I want to do that too. They wouldn't, They
wouldn't go a biting on it.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Well, me, you do not have to tap you guys
who asked to do something you normally do it again.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
That's a good idea. I'm gonna go bring two ferns.
We're gonna make this up Broncos Country, and I'd finding
ferns in the break h
