Speaker 1 (00:32):
There in there, I got my own drops yes where
you can also get the Taken for Granted podcast if
you love our own Grant Smith and leave us talkbacks
with the little red microphone on the corner. We always
appreciate those we've uh we've hit the mid part of
training camp pre season.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
I think optimism for the general Bronco for the for
the Broncos generally has been in a favorable direction. I
think it's interesting when you saw before people broke ground
on training camp, the national perspective was that the over
under of five and a half wins for the Broncos
was about right. You still see a few articles like that.
You thought that the quarterback room. National perspectives said the
quarterback room was the worst in the league. Now you've

(01:14):
got teams ostensibly calling the Broncos if they have a
free quarterback. You've got Matt Stafford who's got hamstring and
back issues.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
With the Rams.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
You've got JJ McCarthy, you had season ending injury on
his knee and the role of was Sam Darnol. But
the May needs some insurance on that. You look around
the league at the Giants and they might be the
worst team in football. Between Daniel Jones and Drew got hurt,
he's got the hip issue, and Tommy DeVito. You've got
the Patriots, who Jacoby Prissett is winning the job there

(01:43):
as Drake May is not not been very good thus
far per reports out of camp. The two rookie quarterbacks,
three rookie quarterbacks that look like there's something right now,
or Katle Williams, Jayden and Daniels and bow Nicks.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
So the Broncos aren't a great position. As I said
earlier when Sea was on that keeping three quarterbacks is
really important. And with quarterbacks either getting injured JJ McCarthy
quarterbacks are not playing well, teams are going to start
looking at the Broncos situation to say, okay, well maybe

(02:18):
we can pluck one of those quarterbacks off of that roster.
And this is why I tell players, I said it
when I coach, and I believe this when I play.
There are several teams that are out there, and just
because you're playing for one uniform right now in camp,
that doesn't necessarily mean that you stop performing. Because there's
an evaluation that's going on across the league. You're not

(02:39):
being just evaluated based on the guys in your positional group.
You're being evaluated against guys in your positional group all
across the league.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
You're not just yeah, like, you're playing for the Denver
Broncos and you're fighting for a job with the Denver Broncos.
But simultaneously you're also fighting for a job maybe somewhere else.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
You See, I look at it entirely different.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
See, see, you you are on a roster for the
Denver Broncos.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
But you play for the NFL. OK I like that.
I actually liked that way of thinking.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
That is a great way of thinking because you are
you're on job display at all times. Like, hey, you know,
anybody could want to trade for me at any point.
Anybody could come get me at some point if they happened,
if the Broncos happened to make a mistake and cut me.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
There's thirty one.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Other teams out here that got tape on me. Now
that not to come get me. Listen, man, I've played
on teams. I'll never say who and what where.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
We've lost games and guys walked across the field to
tell other players or even other.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Coaches, get me, come get me. Yeah, so it happens.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
That's it's funny because yeah, I was doing a postgame
interview at one point. This was a couple of seasons ago,
and it was a game at Broncos game and somebody
came across the field, Hey man, come get me.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Dude, I can't take it here, come get me. I
gotta get out of it. I'm standing up, like bro,
I'm right here. There's cameras running. You might not want
to be saying this right now.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
When we played for we played against the then Oakland
Raiders and Randy Moss played for the Raiders, and it
was just like I felt sorry for him, right, I
felt sorry for him because it just seemed as though
like someone just took all the happy joy out of

(04:24):
his life. And he had that saying it, you know,
right for disclosure, Randy Moss said it, yeah, right, Hey,
I got to get out of here. I got to
get out of here. And I was like, I told Champ,
I was like, did he just say that? Now he
says some other stuff about the fact that the Raiders
wouldn't be better until something happened.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
I'll tell you off air what that meant.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
But this is why you play for the You play
for that team, but with the whole concept, you playing
for the entire NFL, because anything can happen the team.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Kim releish you had any moment.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
They can see another guy at your position and think
that he is better or the team is better if
they put that player in your slot or in the
slot for what particular reason. So I know it sounds
like a bad mindset they have as a player, because
I know it's always coach that you should be where
your feet are, but your.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Feet playing in the NFL could be anywhere at any time. Yeah,
and that's and that's the thing. You never know what
the future holds you're you're doing.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
It's funny because the quarterbacks that the Raiders had at
that point in time, you had and they all none
of them played very well. You had Andrew Walter remember him, yes,
Marcus tso Sippo, Aaron Brooks would eight, and Carrick Collins
at the very very end of his career, I think
with four and twelve, uh, you know, and so they
just had. You know, I always wondered if they could

(05:49):
have got Carson Palmer, and because remember they went to
the Raiders line, they could have had him with Randy Moss.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
They might have really hit made something out of that.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
But yeah, they just they had a series at the time,
Al Davis I think was still was still around and
they were still doing the Oakland track stars instead of
football players, and uh yeah, I just I felt bad.
I felt bad for a lot of Oakland players at
that point in time. My boy, Dearren mcfadd was out
there for a while.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
You know, I can't believe even now even singing it
being as though I played five in my teen year
career for Broncos Country that I felt sorry for a
Raiders player. I mean things that got that bad where
I felt sorry for Raiders players because they were just
in a situation where they could not win no matter what.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
But I hated to see good talent wasted.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
And this is why the preseason is so important for
so many of these guys who are currently on the
Broncos roster, who are fighting for their football lives. And
the way that I look at it, Ben, we can
beat teammates all day, every day, twice on Sunday, But
when we touched the field for practice, when we touched
the field on.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Game day, no, man, I don't know you. I don't
know you.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
You're trying to take food off my kids table.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
For those of you listening right now, next to same
he sees me at the stadium, you won't even shake
my hand anymore.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
It's just like he's just fighting for the I'm a
stadium hosts, it's my job. I'm in game mode. I
mean game mode at the time. I can smell the grass,
the crowd is there. Somebody did catch us on video
that one day though.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Remember we were talking about the security guard and I
was like, he's gonna throw me out of it. Somebody
caught us on video and like posted it on I
don't know, Yeah, somebody call zoomed in on us. They
were sitting there in the south stands. We were sitting
there conspiring. It was yeah, anyway, I know you're right.
I think that you have to have that mentality, in
that attitude though that you know. I currently I wear
a Denver Bronco's uniform. But this is my audition tape

(07:33):
for everybody. I think it's the same way if you're
you know, an actor. I'm acting in the movie Mission
Impossible right now, but I'm acting for every director out there, come.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Get me, because you're trying to get another job.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
As what I'm saying, like here, George Clooney, i might
be doing Fried Green Tomatoes right up with Attack of
the Killer Tomatoes right now, but I'm auditioning for Er
and all those movies I'm gonna be doing later.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
You know that kind of thing. You gotta have that mentality.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
You definitely have to have that mentality because that's how
you move your career forward as a player that you're
playing for may not appreciate you the way you think
that they should because they see you as being a
guy low on the totem pole. And the league is
about guys getting get back yea. And sometimes you get

(08:15):
it against your former team because someone overlooked you and thought,
you know what, yeah, you're just primarily a special teams guy.
But then you show them when you play them. Allah,
when I came here with the Denver Broncos and played
against the New York Jets, I showed them that I
was more than just a special teams guy, and we
really gave them the business and I enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
He is overcoming complacency the key to the Broncos success
this season.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Yeah, it is. And the reason it is because here's
what happens. We're all creatures of habit and we fall
into this habit. And those who are driving around listening
to us. If you are married and you're dating, make
sure you pay attention to this because this goes far
beyond football. You don't want to be complacent in your
relationship or your job because you just come there, it's
just regular day as usual, and you just continue to

(09:04):
do the routine, go through the routine.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
And just think that this is good enough. No, it's not.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Whether it's in your marriage, you're dating, or even with football,
you have to continue to get better every single year. Now,
unlike dating, football is a little different because every year
they're bringing in players to take your job.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Hopefully you're not in a relationship. We're here, your girl.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Your guy is out there looking around when you go
out and your date and going on a date. They're
looking for other prospects to take your place. But no
one wants to be replaced. And the only way to
make sure you're not is making sure that you don't
become complacent. Just like Jonah Ellis, he's been having a
great camp, Yes, right, he made a couple of good
players in the game against the Cults. Now, if you're

(09:49):
Baron Browning and you thought Jonathan Cooper, you're paying attention
to what Jonas Griffin is doing. Why Because he's gonna
put pressure on both of you guys to go out
there and execute and whatever one of you guys that
tend to get a look and place it, he's not
going to replace you.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yeah, And and I mean he was drafted to be
That's the other part of that that game I think
that this is one thing that's unique I think to
sports is your replacements are drafted every year and all
year every year. You know, this isn't like, you know,
you're at a company where you know they're, hey, we
just brought in the new uh, the new cio in waiting,
you know that kind of you know, it's just I mean.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
They draft you replacements every year, and so you do
have to have that.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
And Baron Browning is a guy who's got to prove
he can stay healthy and he's gonna be out there
and put up the you know, he's got all the
athletic talent in the world.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
He's got to be able to prove that he he
can go out there and do it.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
John Cooper his teammate by the way, from from college
at Ohio State. UH, Coop, I think he's a more
well rounded player. I think Baron's a better pass rusher.
I think Coop's a more well rounded player. Coop sets
the edge in a run game a little bit better
than Baron does. And and Coop, you know, he may
not have he may have some limitations that Baron doesn't
have at you know, I say limitations, He's still one
percent athlete in the world. But you know what I mean,

(10:55):
I think that you know, Coop's gone out there and
showed me some things like, hey, that's a guy. We
need to keep keep her out as a co guy
on the roster, even if he's not the starter when
all said and done.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Since you're talking about an all around player, and it's
great what you said about Baron Browning and Jonday Cooper.
Got a lot of respect for those guys, and they
make a lot of players and I'm hoping that they
make more Jonas Griffin is, I mean, Jonah Ellen excuse me,
has shown that he has versatility because he's been doing

(11:25):
some things in practice that are unrelated to pass rush
that I was just like, I mean just marveling, like
I didn't even know he had that skill set. And
what I'm talking about is he drops in coverage that
in you yes, and I'm grabbing people you know who
I'm standing with by the shirt like did you just
see that? I didn't know he had that in it.

(11:47):
So when you think about that element that you know
Jonah Ellis has and he's a young player and he's
watching Jhondy Cooper, Baron Browning in front of him, and
he respects them, being a veteran, But that kid, there's hungry.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
The two best, or I say the best, the two
highest graded whatever you think of Pro Football focus, the
two highest graded edge rushers that dropping back into coverage
out of this past draft were Dallas Turner and Joan Ellis.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
And that is a skill set that not every guy had.
Think about this, let me go back, remember when we
were just yelling and screaming that why is von Miller
dropping in coverage?

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Why is not rushing to pass it? Right?

Speaker 3 (12:26):
But Vaughn didn't have that skill set to be able
to recoverage right. And more importantly, even though he was
great off the edge with his low you know.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Ben, but he wasn't great in coverage. He wasn't right.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
He was actually spectatically bad in coverage, specifically in man.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
But think we don't remember was it in Joku?

Speaker 3 (12:42):
That of course, but this is where in Broncos country.
I'm not trying to force feed you or kool aid
or whatever. I'm just telling you what what I'm seeing
from some of the young players on that the Broncos
have now acquired.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
And even though things may not go the way.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
That it once as far as ten wins the season,
I would look for This team looks bright based on
what I've seen from a lot of these young guys,
and I'm really optimistic to see how Jonah Ellis continues
to grow and develop as the season move on.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Yeah, I am too.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
We haven't even talked about Nick Benito in that room
as well, and you know, he's even been having the
back issues a little bit. We're hoping he gets cleared
up as well, because I thought he took a big
leap last year and I'd like to see the continued
growth of him as a pass rusher as well.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Now with so many quarterbacks, it's coming full circle being
injured in the league and having their difficulties or whatever,
and teams now looking at the Broncos as saying, okay,
well they're heavy on quarterbacks. If there was a quarterback
not named bot Nicks that you say, okay, well, here's
a quarterback who's been doing well that hads value, and

(13:53):
you would move them that quarterback first.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
If a team came calling which quarterback is that? If
a team comes calling which one am I moving first?

Speaker 2 (14:00):
That's tough.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
I like Jared Steadham being in the room because he's
been around the league a little while. There's a maturity there.
He also is a guy who, by from what I've
heard in the film room, is valuable for what he does. Zach,
you know, it's has got the tools and everything, but
a reclamation project probably his higher upside. But that's probably
the one I'm getting more out of if I'm moving anyway.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
I mean, for me, I keep Stidham and move Zac,
but I think a lot of Broncos country be the
other way.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Once again, I love the situation.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
I love the fact that teams would now call the
Denver Broncos, and now the Broncos are now sitting in
the chair where they can make decisions right because here's
the beauty of the situation that they have. Yeah, they
got a quality back up, veteran guy who knows the
system in Jared Stidam. You have a young guy and
Zach Wilson who was kicked to the curb by New
York and everything, in my opinion was kind of stacked

(14:52):
against him and that really didn't help him. And then
Zach is not on like a contract that is kind
of that would put him in a situation where the
team's like, no, no, no, we can't take on that contract.
Right for me, it's always this is what I would do.
If a team wanted a guy, I would let stied
him go. I would literally let Stidham go and keep

(15:12):
Zach for the upside that he has.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
I see the argument either way.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
My question is which is more The way I look
at it is which is more valuable for BO to
have in the room.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
That's the way I look at it.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Okay, what what value do you think Zach presents?

Speaker 1 (15:29):
And presents Zach as better tools, higher upside, He's a
better athlete, stronger arm, and probably more upside as a quarterback.
I think Jared Stidham has more value to BO by
being a calm, mature guy who has been around the
league for a little while. Uh and while he doesn't
have as many starts as Zach.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
What is that what the office of coaches far? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (15:51):
But I mean it's nice to have, you know, somebody
who's preparing the same as you and checking to make
sure you're prepared the same way, show you know that
kind of stuff. I don't know, there's a maturity angle here,
and I feel like stidhamus would be the guy for me,
But I'm not necessarily there's an argument either way. I
don't think there's a wrong answer here. It's probably the
best way. So well, you look at maturity.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Look at the situation that Zach has been through, being
as though he wasn't a democl abroad, he.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Was in New York City with that media yea, and
came through an offense that didn't have a plan to develop.
I mean, Greg Napple is going to be the guy,
and he passed away tragically. They didn't have anybody to
develop a quarterback there. That's a maturity. So I'm with you.
I don't think there's a I don't think there's a
wrong answer there. I think you're I think you're spot up.
We are live down here Broncos Park powered by Common
Spirited Dove Valley, myself, Nick Ferguson got an NFL six

(16:36):
pack for you when we come back.

Speaker 2 (17:07):

Speaker 2 (17:52):
I can't stop. I'm crying over you. Literally sounds like
you need NFL six pack. It's time for the NFL
six path.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
I'm gonna tra at insight and insight information you can't
find anywhere else.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
No, the top six NFL headlines.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
What tyreek Hill is out here running his mouth saying
he could beat uh, the the Olympic sprinter Norlyles. Yeah,
no Liles in a foot race, which is absurd. Tyreek
Hill has uh. You can go back and look at
his track times from from Oklahoma State. He wasn't posting
numbers anywhere near what Liles was doing. But here's Tyreek
Hill saying, running his mouth saying he could do it.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Sprinter Noel Isles, he said that Super Bowl champs should
not consider themselves world champions.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
What do you think of that?

Speaker 4 (18:42):
No One? Lyles can't say nothing at the what just
happened to him? You know what I'm saying to anyone
to come out and put hand like he's sick. I
feel like that's that's like horse radish. So for him
to like do that and say that we're not world
champions of of like Ole Sport says, a come on, bro,
like just speak on what you know about You know

(19:02):
what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
And that's trick.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
Would you like to raise him when he gets home?
I will beat no allows you think so. I won't
beat him by a live but I.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
Would beat no I'd like to see that happen.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
And guess what.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
When I beat him, I'm gonna put on a COVID
mask and let him know I mean business, because I
do mean business.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Well, I don't think Tyreek Hill needs to cover up
his face with a COVID mask. I think he needs
to cover up another part of his body with the rubber.
Given the amount of children he's farming out these days.
Tyreek Hill has never been close to posting the numbers.
No Allowles puts out, you should Tyreek Hill really be
running his mouth about this, and to be fair, no
Ollisle shoudn't be talking about world championship.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
Beat it Well, No Allows shouldn't be making a statements
that he's making. But I'm gonna say I give Tyreek
Hill a fighting chance against Noe Allows. I know most
people say, well, football speeding in track speed is a
little different, but I'll tell you this. I've seen Tyreek
Hill run up close and personal. And when I tell you,

(19:58):
they call him cheetah for a reason because it is real.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
I give him he's world class, mate, He's just not
that that world class.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Listen, I'm gonna give him credit. I think he can
do it. If not, uh, we'll all just have the
a moment to be entertained.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
I would do. I would watch that race if they
put it on paper.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Yes, yes, you would watch it last longer than some
Mike Tyson fights.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Next story two, the New York Giants have.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Sent defensive tackle Jordan Phillips to the Cowboys, who says teams.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Don't make trades within the division. Huh.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Per source and knowledge of the situation the Giants trade
a veteran defensive tackle, Jordan Phillips, to the Dallas Cowboys,
the Giants getting sixth round pick and they added a
seventh round pick back to the Cowboys. He was a
second round pick of the Dolphins in twenty fifteen. Spent
four years in Miami, to a Buffalo, to in Arizona,
to more in Buffalo before signing with the Giants earlier
this year one point two to one million base salary,
received four hundred thirty thousand dollars signing bonus. Phillip says

(20:53):
one hundred and twenty regular seasons appearances and sixty two starts.
What do we think about Jordan Phillips going to the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Well, I think it changes things for the Cowboys because
from an interior standpoint, there were times last season against
certain opponents they gave up a lot of yards in interior.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
When you think about.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
Jordan Phillips size six six, three hundred and thirty pounds,
if you and Michael Parsons, you love that because now
you have someone to push the interior. They can double
team Jordan Phillips and leave you one on one outside.
So I don't know how it's gonna kind of turn
into as far as production standpoint, But in my mind,

(21:31):
I'm thinking from a football standpoint, large body, two guys blocking,
one guy doubling outside, and you know, Michael Parson is
a nightmare of the block one on one.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
It's gonna be interesting to see him and Mazzie Smith
if they can get on the field at the same time.
That's a lot of beef up front. New defense for
Dallas this year. Obviously Dan Quinn the head coach of
the Washington Commanders now, so they be new defense for them.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
It'll be interesting. See that's a lot of beef inside though,
a lot of beef.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Next story three, speaking of people on the move, Matthew
Judan is on the move.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Juda on the pass.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Rusher who made clear they wasn't happy in New England,
has been traded to Atlanta. The Falcons are trading a
third round pick to the Patriots for Judon. Judaan has
doing a six point five million dollars salary this season,
which is the final year of his contract. It's likely
the Falcons and Judah will come to an agreement on
a new contract, but there has been no agreement thus far.
Judan turns thirty two tomorrow is a four time pro bowler.

(22:23):
Spent five seasons with the Ravens, three with the Patriots.
Coming off a season in which he played just four
games because of biceps injury, the Falcons believe he can
bounce back and play at the level he played in
twenty twenty two, where he had a career high fifteen
and a half sacks. The Falcons, it's a move that
shows they're serous about winning the NFC South this year.
For the Patriots's kind of move that a rebuilding team makes.
And I wonder what this also says about another pass

(22:45):
rusher was traded for without a future contract deal done,
in Hassan Reddick, who's still holding out with the New
York Jets.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
Well, if you are Hassan Reddick, you're looking at Matt
through Judan situation and hoping that maybe the Jets may
find you a sooner and maybe trade you out of
that particular position. But for Matt Judon, you're going to
a better place because now you have more of a
veteran quarterback in Kirk Cousin, who has shown that he
has experienced, and the Atlanta Falcons they got weapons Drake

(23:13):
Lonnon they got that mean.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
How it's b John Robinson. Yeah, they got a totally
different offense. Was Zach Robinson run on the show?

Speaker 2 (23:19):
There I had. Offense is gonna be prolific this year. Yeah,
and Grady Jared is still there.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
So if you think about the fact of what they
can do from a personnel standpoint, and then look in
at Okay, well, Tampa Bay they're talking to, looking at
the Saints and the Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
They're now moving in position.

Speaker 3 (23:35):
Arthur Smith has been his team in a position where
they can win the NFC.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
South Arthur Blake, Arthur Smith Lee the head coach.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
Now he's in Pittsburgh, you know, with this signing, and
people are wondering maybe Justin Simmons goes there as well.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
The Falcons could be loading up on defense. We'll see.
He had a visit with them yesterday.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
Next story for the Dallas Cowboys have had more than
a year to complete a long term extension with star
receiver Ceed Lamb, and they still aren't close. Via Clarence
Hill of the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Cowboys' best offer
is not yet even thirty three million annually, per Hill.
With Lamb looking for a deal in the neighborhood of
what Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, the highest non paid quarterback
in the NFL, got at thirty five million annually. Lamb

(24:13):
is not asking to top Jefferson, something Cowboys vice president
Steven Jones also acknowledged. Despite how long the talks have
gone on, with the Cowboys having not seen Lamb since
the twenty twenty three season ended, team officials are optimistic
they will get a deal completed before the start of
the season. HEAs and starts September eight, so the clock
obviously ticking for the size to get a deal done.
Lamb played last season for a base salary of two

(24:33):
point five to two million, and is scheduled to play
this year on the seventeen point nine to nine to
one million fifth year option. Had a career last year
with a league leading one hundred and thirty five catches
seventeen forty nine yards twelve touchdowns, earning All Pro honors
for the first time. We think Dallas gets a deal
done with Ceedee Lamb.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Yeah, I think they get it done, maybe in a
twenty fifth hour. That's kind of how these situations kind
of worked themselves out, and the fact of looking at
how receivers have been paid an observant amount of moneys
fass offseason. Listen, I don't blame Ceedee Lamb for wanting
to get his just due and be recognized from a
salary's standpoint, but thinking about where Dallas is located, I mean,

(25:13):
the cost of living isn't that high, and I like
to paying in New.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
York or California. They're gonna get a deal done.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
He's not gonna be up there with Justin Jefferson's, but
he's gonna be enough to put CD Lamb his pride
because this thing is always on deck. He's by intrack
because now there's some incentives and there's a nice signings
bonus formed.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
Next story five, Colin Kaepernick back in the news. After
Jim Harball became head coach of the Chargers, the question
of whether the forty nine or former forty nine ers
head coach would offer former forty nine Ers quarterback Colin
Kaeperdick a.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Job was raised.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
It wasn't something that was really pulled out of it
had obviously the connection has been there for a long time.
Marball championed Kaeperdick for years. When the illusion gets Kaperdick commenced.
Harbaugh said a team can win championships with an s
with Kaeperdick. More recently, Harball gave Kaepernick a workout platform.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
During a Michigan spring game.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
Now, apparently Jim Harbaugh is inquired and offered Colin Kaepernick
a job on staff as a coach, conversation is pivoted
to that possibility. Necessarily, a Harball isn't interested in adding
another Harball to the roster. If he isn't, there's no
way anyone else would be. Would you offer a coaching
job to Colin Kaepernick?

Speaker 2 (26:30):
Yeah? Why not? Why not?

Speaker 3 (26:32):
Because once again, you're not asking him to play, because
that was one of the more controversial issues with Colin Kaepernick.
You're asking him to go into room and help a
young quarterback become much better. And you you look at
the adversity that Colin Kaepernick has gone through both on
and off the field. Yeah, I mean it's time to
put leave the pass into pass and move forward. And

(26:55):
only one coach could actually do that with one player,
And as Jim Harbaugh, why not do that? What will
it hurt to give Colin Kaepernick another shot? Now you're
gonna take some shots from critics, but still at the
same time, he's not playing, he's helping your quarterback development.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
Yeah, whatever you think of him as a player, whatever
you think of the other stances, take that out of
the equation for just a second. You've got a player
who's been in the system, knows the coaches, knows the offense,
and could theoretically only do anything to add to knowledge
in the room.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
I mean, I.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
Certainly if I were Jim Harball would consider bringing him
in as an assistant QB coach.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
And here's the other thing too, If you need a
scout team quarterback, that's what you could be your scout
team quarterback going out there.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
We did we have somebody here did that? Who was
it that was on staff? I can't remember at the time.
Who was going to start the kettle hitting game. We
had somebody on staff I can't remember right.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
Now, But yes, if someone on the Broncos roster that
they were considering Uh actually going in.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
Running a scout team and all I got to stay.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
Yeah, he was a coach who was basically running scout
team and they were consider him running in if they
could sign Hi fast enough.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
But he couldn't clear the co with protocols fast on,
Kyley Kaepernick would be one hell of a Scolet team quarterback.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
I'm just saying, even even today, I do know that
he had a god to work out with the Raiders
a couple of years ago. They did not go very well,
so I think the playing days are probably behind him.
But but yeah, bring him in his assistant quarterbacks coach.
What's the harm?

Speaker 2 (28:15):
Next story six, Gerard Mayo.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Has an interesting solution to keeping fights from happening at
these joint practice and scrimmages.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
There's Gerrod Mayo on his solution.

Speaker 5 (28:27):
Look, you don't fight in a real gad and you
fight in a real game and you get fine, you
get kicked out. It's the same thing here. And my
message to the players are you getting a fight out here?
If you're a starter, you're gonna play the whole preseason
a game. If you're not a starter, you won't play
at all. And so that's that's kind of my mindset
with that.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
So I apologize for the quality audio there, but Gerard
Mao basically said, if there's a fight at any of
these joint practices or scrimmages, if you're a starter, you're
going to play the entire preseason game, and if you're
not a starter, you're not gonna play the entire preseason
game in carrot and or a stink.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
Do you think that stops fights from happening.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
No, it does not stop a fight, because once again,
when you are in the heat of competition and there
are words that are expressed, then something is able to
take place. And you know, Jrod Meyo should think about
and reflect on his days as a player, right, he
was a tough, hard nosed player. That was the thing
that helped him become a champion with the Patriot, but

(29:26):
also their new head coach, So he should keep everything
in consideration. Now, it's whether the fights escalated to an
all out braw. That's different because players fight one another
in practice.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
I know.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
I've been in that position before with Hall of Fame
center Kevin Maway, So it.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Happens, Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
I mean, it's interesting to come out and say that
because that seems like a novel solution, that seems like
it would be effective on paper, But then when you
start to think about it in the heat of the moment,
you know, you know how that stuff is. Stuff happens,
and now you've put out there as a matter of
inciple that this is how we're gonna handle things.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
You're really gonna you're really gonna.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
Stick to that when it comes to it, you get
you're not gonna give a player of reps that you
need to get some tape on to see if he's
the guy at the end of the day because he
got a fight or a skirmish it uh and a
joint practice.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
It seems a little dicey to me. That's the other
way around.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
We're selling a steak, not the sism. Yes, fair enough,
that's your NFL six back. We always have fun, uh
doing that. We got another full show tomorrow night, guys,
so programming note there you want to join us. We
got some uh, some good guests on h on Tomorrow
night show as well. It coulding get interesting sort of
thing that I wanted to get into. We don't have
time tonight, but I wanted to get into and we

(30:38):
will tomorrow a deep dive on what led to this
sort of sour I don't want to call it an altercation,
but sort of this sour way that Coach Prime was
with the media a few days back, and uh, it
really did a deep dive into what led to that,
because on the surface, it just seemed like him being
snarky with some media, but really there's more to the
story than that. We've got a really good guest, it'll

(30:59):
be a first time on the show from from On
three coming on tomorrow night. He did a deep dive
on that, and what he put out there lines up
with with my knowledge of the situation. So we'll see,
you know, we'll see kind of how that goes, but
it'll be interesting to have him on tomorrow night. We
got Packers, uh Broncos practices coming up later in the weekend.
Then we got a we got a game on Sunday,
Sunday night right here on Kowa. The Packers take on

(31:22):
the Denver Broncos. And for the Denver Broncos, it'll be
the first time they played Mile High this season. Obviously
a preseason game, but still bow Nicks will be the starter,
the Packers not playing their starters, so should be uh,
should be a fun time. You guys should come on out.
I'll be down there at the stadium. I assume you
will be down there at the stadium yourself there. Nick Ferguson.
Of course, if they you know, if they if they haven't,
they don't call you out on the field. Put the
pads back on.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Yeah, those days are long gone, my friend.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
Yes, well they're not calling me in despite what Steve,
Steve Atwater was trying to get me to run QB
power in this offense.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
He was trying to get you to run QB power.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
I was trying to get me to get the idea
is that if you would put in that situation, could
you just with with the with your own play, could
you score?

Speaker 2 (32:03):
No?

Speaker 4 (32:04):
No?

Speaker 2 (32:05):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (32:06):
Benjamin Albright recognizes Benjamin Albright's limitations.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
Well, you know what they say, real recognized, real, and
the first thing is to be able to recognize your
own limitations.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
So there you have it, right.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
I'm just saying, by the way, uh Riley Moss, we've
got a white Corner epidemic in the league this year.
Cooper Degen and the kid down there in Miami was
that Ethan Bonner I think is his name. You know,
we all heard the original white Corner when when I
was out there for that one play.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
We've all heard the stories.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
So I think people people didn't realize that I was
making a joke about that the other day when I
put the Riley Moss thing out there, but you know,
the white corner make it because I'm not being serious
about that, don't actually care. It's funny because it's funny,
but because it's a funny talking point in that it
shouldn't be a talking point. You can play, you can play,
you ball, you ball, it doesn't matter, of course, but uh,
it's it's funny. How many people took that, So, oh,

(32:51):
you're all right, stump with the white guy or whatever.
And I'm like, man, I don't actually care. I don't
care if you're a smurf. If you can play corner,
you can play corner. That's the only thing that mattters man.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
And and I'm I'm really hopeful for Rilly this season
because he's definitely come along. And that's what happens when
you are playing opposite PS two.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
You're going to bring your game to a whole different level.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
But here's the other thing that I love about Rolly
Monks is his swag meter is off the chart.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
Because I don't know about two.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
I love being around players who not only walk to walk,
but talk to talk, So I'm all about that. That's
how I grew up talking trash and just just backing
it up, but watching him go out there and play
every single day, that's where he has matured up until
this point. Now to see him carry forward, absolutely, I
hope he wins that job out opposite PS two.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Yeah, and from what I understand, what I've heard is
that he's sort of running away with it.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
But we'll, you know, we'll sort of see.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
I guess we'll get a better chance to get a
look at that, you know, in this coming game tomorrow.
Mathis still pulling for him, but all kinds of promise
and talent and athleticism there. I'd love to see him
turn things around and be a guy that Concos can
count on as well, anything specific that you're really going to.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
Be focused in on on this this coming game. These
are these practices, I should say. It's a level of intensity.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
It's who can bounce back and meet the other other
team's sense of urgency. When San Francisco came here a
couple of years ago, that one guy that stood out
was Tim Patrick Patrick. And then that next day everyone
seemed like, oh, now we get the intensity. The ideas
that no, you have to know day one someone's coming
into your house, set the temple and let them know

(34:33):
exactly what the practice is going to be.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
Like, I want to see the offensive line blowing them
off the ball. That's what I want to see. That's
what I said, I wanted to see. Okay, what why
do you think country not ka
