coverage in the Colorado Rockies. I got a short show. Well,
we got a full show tomorrow, or at least a

who celebrate. Bo of course named the starter today. Real shocker.
There no surprise, I think, to no surprise to anybody
as far as as far as that goes. I think

everybody knew that was coming. The question wasn't would Bo
Nicks be the starter? The question was when would Bo
Nicks be the starter? And we have an answer for
We have an answer for that now. Bonix will start
for the Denver Broncos at Seattle Week one. The question

now is whether he'll play any of the Arizona preseason
game here in Denver. There are two schools thought, get
him as many reps as you possibly can, or just
save him from any freak accidents. And you know, kind
of shelve him and let stick him and Zach Wilson

play that the entirety of that game not let opponents
get any more tape on him than they already have.
Maybe you can sneak up on some people early. I
tend to you know, I don't know that I play
him in the Arizona game. I don't think you have
anything to gain and I think you have everything to lose.

(01:47):
I mean, we might play him for one series in
the sense that he's the starter, so he comes out
for a series that way, we have him prepare like
the starter, so he's getting into that habit. But I
don't think we would actually play him meaningful snap in
that game. You know, come in three handoffs and he's done,
and I think we go from there. That'd be what
I would do when rains three. Seen what Sean Payton

would do. I will say that after talking to people
inside that building, I would be stunned if the Broncos
did not carry all three quarterbacks this season. Bo Nicks,
Jarrett Stidham, and Zach Wilson. Something I've been trying to
hint at, or you know, kind of let you guys
know a little bit about it that Jared Stidham is

a resource in that quarterback room, you know, and his
maturity in that room, I think he's huge. I think
it goes over well. I think that as bo is
learning to be an NFL quarterback, there are things that
he can pick up from Jared Stidham, and that's one
of them. Jarrett may not have the tools that guys

like Nix or especially Zach Wilson have, but he's got
a quarterback's mind. He's able to see things, and he's
been in the quarterback room with some good ones before,
and I think that that sort of lends to his
ability to navigate that room a little bit better. We'll
get more into that later on in the show. Appreciate

you guys being along the ride with me. Better. Defensive
tackle Mike Percell is not going to be a part
of the Patriots initial fifty three man roster. Patriots announced
that they have released Percell. They did not sign anyone
to the ninety man roster, and we'll have to get
down to fifty three players by next Tuesday afternoons deadline.
Purcell signed with the team on August first. Played sixty

five games for the Broncos. Of course, over the last
five seasons one hundred and sixty six tackles, two and
a half sacks, three fumble recoveries. He spent his first
three NFL seasons with the forty nine ers. The Patriots
of Christian Barmore, who's been out since developing blood clots
early in training camp, Devon Godcho, Jeremiah Farms, Tristan Hill,
arm and Watts, Sam Roberts, Joseph Bronson all still in

the mix there at defensive tackle. But interesting that Purcell,
who's signed three weeks ago, one of the first people
cut by the New England Patriots. There so fascinating to
sort of see that. I don't think he'll be coming
back here to Denver. Russell Wilson made his preseason debut

(04:19):
last weekend, remain in the game longer than the Steelers
intended to play him because the offense just struggled to
move a ball in the first two possessions. Wilson started
at QB, playing five series, couldn't leave the team to
a touchdown for giving way to Fields, who hasn't led
the team to a touchdown in two games. Wilson told
reporters on Wednesday that he expects to get back in
the lineup for Saturday's preseason finale, excited to get on

the field against the Detroit Lions. Steelers have not scored
a touchdown with fields at quarterback, which is why offensive
coordinator Arthur Smith said this week that the performance has
not been up to the standard the team wants to set.
Smith also said he thinks the preseason could distort reality,
and Wilson said he isn't concerned about the state of

saying absolutely not, because the reason being, as I told
you guys, the level of practices we've had against one
of the best defenses every day and how we've shown
up here. So I think the best thing that we
can do is just slow our minds down, really play
clean football, and also enjoy the process. Man. So a
better outing against Detroit isn't guaranteed to carry over another
regular season, but certainly would be a good shot at momentum.
The teams they turn their attention toward facing the Atlanta

Falcons in Week one. Russell Wilson is expected to be
the starter, as Mike Tomlin has has named him thus far,
so unless something drastic were to change. He would continue
to be the starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers, justin fields, interestingly,

(05:45):
is not played well. I don't know. It's interesting to
see sort of a ground swell in terms of support
for fields in that competition, even though he's practiced worse
and played worse. So I don't I don't really understand that,
but that's whatever. There's been some interesting drama in the league.
Talked about a little bit yesterday between Tuetug of my

(06:06):
Law and Brian Flores. Para press conference is held since
his comments, and no one asked Mike McDaniel where the
situation creates a distraction. Today, ESPN South Palatonio asked McDaniel
if he hadn't concerned that Tua's candid criticism of Flores
will be a distraction for the team. Mike said, absolutely not.

In this world or in this league. On a football team,
you can't hide. And if your mind somewhere else, you
may not tell me, but you show me the supreme details,
a little coaching points, all the things, at snap points,
something's going to give if your mind is elsewhere. We
do try our best to make it challenging enough. That's
always the case, and that's when my conviction comes from
my eyes, my ears being where I'm at. And it's
one thing for an issue to distract the players, you know,
on field focus, but it's another for an issue to

(06:49):
become an off field distraction where every player asked about
it by reporters, family friends, etc. To himself is not
yet given a press conference since the comments emerged. Palatonio
explained during the feature that Tua didn't speak to the
reporters today and then he's not scheduled to do so
next week either. The Dolphins were asked this morning when

Tua will next answer questions from the media, and the
team has not yet responded. Cal Antonio also interviewed running
back Right he mostered for the segment, and he said,
I know from previous conversations some years back he was
going through a rough time, rough patch, but honestly, that's
in the wind, and he made those comments knowing that
he just wants to get it out there. That's his
big thing. He doesn't talk that much, so when he speaks,

it's with some value, and I would say there's part
of certainly plenty of volume in this situation, especially when
Tua call Flora is a terrible person. It's unclear why
Tua isn't speaking this week or next. For his part,
Flora's is handling himself pretty well in dealing with the
situation too. It needs to sort of face reporters too
and have answers for some of those questions when it

comes out. Floras famously sued the league and several teams,
include the Denver Broncos, where he alleged that John Elway
had showed up disheveled and drunk to his head coaching
interview and that it was a sham interview. He alleged
that Joe Ellis had been drinking. Ellis, who participates in
dry January year, hadn't had a drop to drink in
over a month, and John Elway was not disheveled but

in a full code and tie. The Denver Broncos taped
all their interviews for head coach that year, the year
in which Vic Fangio was hired, so the tape of
the Brian Flores interview exists when they get to court
and they'll be able to refute several of these statements
that he made regarding his interview with Denver. We talked

a little bit about other rookie quarterbacks Jade and Daniels
obviously getting the starting nod with Washington, Caleb Williams with
the Bears, we know Michael Pennix is not going to start.
J J. McCarthy's not going to play all year because
of an injury, so that leaves Drake May. And earlier today,
Patriots head coach Girod Mayo noted that the quarterback competition
is even though Jacoby Brissette has continued to work with

the first team offense. Mayo did say that Drake May
is one hundred percent ready to run a huddle, but
number three overall picked. Drake May was asked about the
competition today and praise the way Brissette has handled things.
He also noted that he wants to do what he
can on the field. May said, I think I'm just
going to take advantage of my opportunities, and that's why

(09:23):
on Mike Rice of ESPN, I think Jacoby's done a
great job. He's a great player, great teammate, and he's
been working with the ones the whole time, so I'm
excited for him. I'm just trying to take every advantage,
take advantage of the repsite do get and put. I'm
in there, try to have some fun. As a follow up,
May was asked if he feels Brissett is New England's starter.
May said, I'm not one hundred percent sure, but Jacoby

(09:44):
has played great and he's been a great teacher for me.
May should get plenty more of playing time on Sunday
night with the Patriots visit the Commanders for their last
preseason game. So far the preseason, May has completed eight
to fourteen passes sixty six yards and rushed four times
four fifteen yards with a touchdown. I Drake May is,

(10:07):
per my sourcing, unlikely to start the season as the
starting quarterback and may take that job later onto the
season as Jacoby Brissette will probably start the season early.
Brown's corner Denzel Awards still not back to practice more
than a week after hitting his head on the ground
and in August twelfth practice coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed Wednesday
that Ward was diagnosed with a concussion and remains in
the protocol. This is the fifth documented concussion for Ward

(10:31):
since the Browns drafted him in twenty eighteen with pick
number four, one pick of where the Broncos took Bradley Chubb.
Ward has earned Pro Bowl hotters three times, including in
twenty twenty three when he played thirteen games total thirty
four tackles, two picks, eleven pass breakups in a force fumble.
He has never played a full season. The Arizona Cardinals

(10:55):
have faced plenty of reports in recent months generated by
common disgruntal Former employees reportedly been using non disclosure agreements
to ensure that once workers exit the organization, they won't
talk about things they witness their experience. Kyle Odegard, who
is a former Cardinals employee himself of sport casting dot com.

The Cardinals have offered cash payments to large numbers of
outgoing employees in exchange for signing confidentiality agreements. For the report,
the team has extended the offering of confidentiality agreement to
mid tier and low level employees, which is a new
trend that has emerged since the eruption of reports critical
of the team and owner Michael Bidwell. The offers have

come in at an irregularly high frequency compared to previous years,
as the perceived goal is to minimize any more damage
to the club's reputation. The report contends Marry Joe White,
one of the NFL's go to external investigators, recommended in
the aftermath of the forced sale of the Panthers by
team founder Jerry Richardson, that the league should curb the
use of NBA's which can become an impediment to reporting

(12:00):
potential misconduct to the league and or cooperation with investigations
arising from such complaints. It's unclear whether the League ever
acted on the advice right wrong. Businesses routinely use NDAs
the employees get something of value money, usually in return
for refraining from talking. Now they have the right to
reject the offer and retain the ability to blab if

(12:21):
they so choose. The key becomes ensuring that they get
value to which they already weren't entitled. It's also helpful
to run the agreement by a lawyer before signing. It
should always do that. In some cases, the silence might
be worth a lot more than the company has offered,
and a lot of that stems from the previous regime

there in Arizona, under time and some of the head
coaches that they had. I will say that talking to
people down there, they certainly don't have any problems or
have not had those same problems with money. Austin fort
and John Gannon down there thus far, Jerry Jones trying

(13:03):
to get his team inked and signed. Dak Prescott said
last week is his agent. The Cowboys are having good conversations.
Owner Jerry Jones hinted this week that the Cowboys don't
expect to come to an agreement with the quarterback before
the season starts. He just said they're continuing to talk.
It's by Nick Harris of the team's website. None of
a player team want a hurt, preparation or likelihood of

(13:25):
playing your best wide receiver. Ceed Lamb's contract stalemate has
gotten more noticed since he's not reported to training camp.
Jerry Jones expressed optimism the sides will complete a deal
to get the ole pro in the fold before Week one,
but Prescott could be headed to free agency in March,
a decision that is at this point completely his. He
has a no trade and no tag clause in his contract.

(13:49):
He's entering the final year of a four year, one
hundred and forty million dollar contract scheduled to count fifty
five million against the salary cap. The Cowboys will take
on forty million a dead cap if he's not on
the roster. Cowboys, unlike some teams, will negotiate during the season,
so it's possible that even if they don't get Prescott

(14:09):
signed before the season starts, they could sign him at
some point during the season. Much maligned Brown's quarterback Deshaun
Watson has been limited in practice due to general arm soreness.
Watson took a few snaps and team drills in today's practice,
but James Winston handled most of the work during the session.

(14:31):
After the practice was over, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski
told reporters that he dialed back Watson's time on the
field because of general arm soornis I decided to just
hold it back a little bit with him, but not
overly concerns, Stefanski said, via Daniel O. Yafusi of ESPN
dot Com. Stefanski initially said that the plan was for

Watson to play in the team's final preseason game against
the Seahawks, but hedged it a little bit yesterday and
again declined to commit to playing Watson today. In addition
to the arm sorens, the Browns will also have to
consider putting Watson out behind an offensive line that's been
thinned out by injury during camp. The aforementioned Cardinals that
tweaked the roster less than a week before they'll have

(15:13):
to cut down to the fifty three players. The team
announced that they've signed tight end Sage Sarat. Wide receiver
Daniel Arius was released from the ninety man roster and
a corresponding move. Sarat signed with the Lions after going
undrafted in twenty twenty one and spent time with the Chargers,
but never appeared in a regular season game. They also
played in the USFL and UFL. Arius spent time on

(15:37):
the Cardinals practice squad last year, played in both the
team's preseason games, but did not catch any passes. Sarat
has been transitioning from wide receiver to tight end. The Broncos,
as we all know, have done what was expected now official.

(15:58):
In this press conference today, Bronc head coach Sewan Payton
named Bo Nix the team's starting quarterback. Peyton touted Nix's
consistency and ability to make off schedule throws as reasons
for why he won the competition. It's not a reflection
on Jarrett or even Zack. It's about what Knicks has
been able to do so quickly. It was about the
overall body of work. Nicks had a nice debut against
the Colts, engineering four scoring drives the second quarterback in

the game behind Stem, and then he started against the
Packers and led two more scoring drives. In two preseason games,
Nick is twenty three to thirty for two five yards
two touchdowns. Also rushed six times for twenty nine yards.
Nix will become the first rookie quarterback to start Week
one for the Broncos since John Elway in nineteen eighty three.

one at Seattle. Sean Payton went on to praise his
ability to make decisions off schedule, off platform, and said
that he was consistent. I would be shocked if the

Broncos don't carry all three quarterbacks on the roster this season. Again,
Jared's did am add something to the room that I
don't think you get from from Zach or Bow. So
I believe that you're going to see all three quarterbacks
hang on the roster, and that the Broncos will find
a way to accommodate that, probably via shuffling skill position

players around on the practice squad, something they've become quite
adept at over the last couple of years. Broncos take
on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday right here on KOA,
your official home of the Colorado Buffaloes, Denver Broncos and
Colorado Rockies. X Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is not desiring

a return to coaching, but is rejoining USC to teach
Pete Carroll, the former Seattle Seahawks head coach, as well
as trotting on unfamiliar territory this fall for the first
time in nearly twenty five years. The college football and
NFL seasons are about to start and he does not
have a coaching job. And as interesting as that seems,
considering these seventeen year old Carol has spent his entire

professional life as a football coach and been successful at
the college and pro level. The choice, the decision rather
is his choice. I could coach tomorrow, Carol recently told
cl Sports station ninety three through KJR. I'm physically in
the best shape I've been in a long time. I'm
ready to do all the activities that I'm doing and
feeling really good about it. I could, but I don't really.
I'm not desiring it at this point. And the latest

and perhaps last chapter of Carol's coaching career ended in
January when he and the Seahawks parted ways after fourteen years.
He wasn't in the mix for of the other head
coaching jobs this offseason, but that doesn't mean he'll spend
the football season watching a red zone and making notes. Instead.
Carol will return to USC Reserved as head coach from
two thousand and one to two thousand and nine to

teach a cheat to take a teaching job, and he
wasn't revealing any details, but he said it's going to
be a really exciting endeavor when it's finalized in all that,
saying quote, I'm excited about it because there's more stuff
to teach, there's more stuff to share. Everybody wants to
know what I'm doing and all that am I coaching
or what am I doing? I'm working with some really
fun people, exciting opportunities to do some really cool stuff

(20:02):
and putting things together for others. So I'm going to
keep working that way and see what happens. Carol didn't
close the door of returning to coaching at some point,
but it doesn't seem like something he's actively pursuing. He
doesn't want to wait for the next opportunity in coaching.
He wants to find his own opportunities wherever they are,

(20:22):
saying quote, We'll see what happens. I'm not waiting on
it at all. I'm going ahead. I've got of the
things that I want to do, that I'm excited about,
and I'm going to see how it out all goes.
I'm not thinking that I'm holding my breath and that
kind of thing. If it's been forty something years, forty
eight years or whatever coaching and that's it, I'll feel
okay about that now. Some guys want to coach until

(20:45):
they just can't, until they kill over on the sideline
with a headset firmly attached to their ears and a
clipboard in hand. And it sort of seemed like Carol,
who was the NFL's oldest head coach in twenty twenty three,
it was one of those guys. But reality can be surprising.
Carol's leaving the headset behind. He's met new Seahawks head
coach Mike McDonald just wants a chance meeting at a
parking lot, says he's not paying attention to his former team,

preferring to wish them luck and just let them go.
Carol has always tried to forge his own path in football,
has certainly moved on story I saw that was interesting.
Travis Kelsey all over the news thanks to his dating
of Taylor Swift, but his acting resume is growing by

(21:28):
the day. His latest gig is set to be a
role in Happy Gilmore Io, the sequel to the nineteen
ninety six golf comedy. Appearing on the Tonight Show with
Jimmy Fallon, Adam Sandler confirmed the Kansas City Chiefs tight
end we'll have a part in the movie, which begins
filming in New Jersey next month. Travis is gonna come by.

He's a very nice guy, Saylor said. You guys would
love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy, funny,
cool as hell. He's a stud and he's so funny.
While Kelsey is seemingly getting attached to roles in movies
and television shows weekly, he first brought up the idea
on the New Heights podcast with his brother Jason back
in June, while reacting to a theory posted on Reddit

that he would be appearing in the movie. Kelsey said
he'd be open for any role, and he was a
big fan of Sadler's second quote. I didn't even know
there was a job opening on Happy Gilmore too, Kelsey said,
I'll be a bleeping extra anything to get around Happy
Gilmore and Adam Sandler film or set. Count me in
the theory was only brought up because Kelsey had worn

a happy Gilmore hat on the podcast. After the sequel
was officially announced, Kelsey stayed busy this offseason. Following the
Chief's fourth Super Bowl victory. In February, he was part
of the cast of the FX horror series Grotesquery, hosted
a game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? On
Prime Video, hung out the White House with President Joe Biden,

received a diploma from the University of Since Sinnati signed
a new deal with the Chiefs, joined girlfriend Taylor Swift
during her European tour, and is reportedly in talks for
a lead role in the action comedy Loose Cannons, which
will be produced by John Wick series director Chad Steleski.
While his LifeWay from the football field is getting busier, Kelsey,

who's thirty five, has no plans on playing stop playing
anytime soon. Said in June, I'll love come to work
every single day of doing this. I'm going to do
it till the wheels fall off, and hopefully that doesn't
happen anytime soon, although Broncos fans wouldn't mind it being
sooner than later. Lamar Jackson has reacted to both Tom

(23:41):
Brady and Peyton Manning calling him a top five quarterback.
There's been a lot of talk about the Goat greatest
of all time this Baltimore Ravens preseason first head coach
John Horball told the media that he had a quote
divine vision of Lamar Jackson someday being the greatest quarterback

ever to play the game. When asked about the Harbo quote,
Jackson said that Tom Brady is the Goat now. Brady,
along with Peyton Manning, another quarterback often in Goat conversations,
is listed as one of the top five quarterbacks in
the league. Brady listed Jackson third, behind only Pat Mahomes

and Josh Allen. Peyton Manning slotted Lamar fourth behind Mahomes,
Joe Burrow, and Justin Herbert. Jackson brought up the topic
and provided a pretty animated response, saying, that's crazy, that's dope,
especially coming from those guys. Those guys are on top
of the Mount rushmore right now. For me at least,
that's great. It's great to hear from the Goats. Jackson

New's twenty seven already has two MVP Awards, but he
wouldn't be in the goat discussion until he wins the
Super Bowl. Brian Flores has responded to the to a
tagabou loa comments. Flores is set to enter his second

season as the Vikings defensive coordinator this fall, heard what
the former quarterback at the Dolphins said about him this
week and didn't sit well with him. Miami Dolphins quarterback
to a talk about Lola spoke about his former head
coach and an interview on The Dan LeBatard Show this
week and ripped Flora's coaching style with him compared his
current situation with new Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel. Flores, who

is now the defensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings, admitted
Takaboloa's comments stung, saying, quote, they hit me in a
way that I wouldn't say was positive for me. But
at the same time, I've got to use that and say, hey,
how can I grow from that? How can I be better?
Do I feel like that's me? No? But I can
grow from that situation and create a world that's not
the case where anybody says that about Brian Flores. Flora

(25:59):
spent three leading the Dolphins, including taga Leo's first two
in the league. McDaniel was hired to replace Flores after
the twenty twenty one campaign. Flores, who spent more than
a decade in various assistant roles under Bill Belichick with
the New England Patriots, spent the twenty twenty two season
with the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining the Vikings as a

defensive coordinator. The Dolphins. Stint was his only one as
head coach during his time in the NFL. The difference
between the two coaches he's played in the league, taga
Iloa told Levittarde is massive. To put it in the
simplest terms, Tagao Lewis said, if you woke up every
morning and I told you you suck at what you
did and that you don't belong what you do, you

shouldn't be here. This guy shouldn't be here, you haven't
earned this, and then have somebody else come in until
you do. You're the best fit for this, like you're accurate,
You're the best whatever you are this, you're that. How
would it make you feel listening to one or the other?
Taguy Loa took it further too, quote you hear it
regardless of what it is the good of the bad,
You hear it more and more you start actually believe it.

I don't care who you are, you could be the
president of the United States. You have a terrible person
that's telling you things that you don't want to hear,
you probably shouldn't be hearing. You're going to start to
believe that about yourself. Tigua Loa threw for a career
high forty six hundred and twenty four yards and twenty
nine touchdowns with fourteen interceptions. Last season. Is fourth with
the Dolphins, led them to an eleven and six finish,

which was their best record in more than a decade.
I had to a second straight playoff appearance, though the
franchise has not won a postseason game since the two
thousand campaign. Tagauai Looa has since signed a new four year,
two hundred and twelve point four million dollars deal with
the Dolphins, and even though he may not have liked
what he heard of Flores, is trying to keep his
attention on what's ahead of him. I'm genuinely happy for

the success that two has had, Flores said, I really
wish him nothing but the best. Really, more than anything,
I'm just focused on the vikings on Burkes exited practice
today with an injury. Another injury concerned for the Titans
and Titans receiver Trailon Burks. Multiple reporters on the scene.

Burks had to exit Wednesday's practice a bit early, made
it catch late in practice, went down hard. When he
came up, he was favoring his right hip and lower
back area. He then walked gingerly back into the building
with a trainer. Burks, who was the eighteenth overall pick
of the twenty twenty two draft, has played only eleven
games in each of his first two seasons. Last year,

he caught just sixteen passes for two hundred twenty one yards,
