Speaker 1 (00:00):
Everybody, Welcome into it. Broncos Country Tonight, Benjamin Albright here
with you. Five six six nine zero is the text
line short show Post Rockies Edition. We're going to be
like that all week Friday. We'll have some live components
and some pre recorded components. So just so you guys
are are aware, we do want to keep you up
(00:20):
to date on all that. It's just been tough last
couple of weeks as the Rockies finish out their season,
see you as starting their season, and now the Denver
Broncos is going to be starting their season this Sunday
against the Seattle Seahawks. We're looking forward to that here,
but I want to make sure you guys are updated nowhere.
The the shows are live at their normal times. I
(00:45):
will say that we appreciate you guys being along for
the ride. Got a lot of great feedback over the
last week. You know, just across the board, you guys
been sending some emails in and you know, thanking me
for sharing some personal stuff. You know how you guys'
journey are going. I read all those so I appreciate
you guys sending all that stuff in, and my bosses
(01:05):
appreciate all that kind of stuff as well. So I
always love getting that kind of feedback from from you
guys listening. Five six, six nine zero is the text line,
you guys got any questions, We want to do some previews.
I already previewed the Mike McDonald defense last week, so
we're not going to get into that into what the
the Broncos are squaring off against. I don't want to.
(01:26):
I don't want to get too far into the weeds
on the menu show or the technicalities how how that
defense goes. I think you guys got a good, good
picture on that. I do want to talk a little
bit about the Seattle Seahawks offense, which is going to
be a little different. It's not the it's not the
same three yards at a cloud of dust, and then
(01:48):
we hope Russell Wilson figured something out on third down
offense that they've traditionally run. They've got Ryan Grubb running
the offense. Now, for those of you who don't know,
Ryan Grubbs the offensive quidator for the University of Washington
last year that Michael Pennock's offense. So this is going
to be something radically different in Seattle than what Broncos
(02:08):
fans are traditionally used to, and so it's going to
be fascinating to see how that evolves, how that looks
in the NFL, how that translates, what concepts translate, and
how how he is able to adapt to not just
(02:29):
narrow or hashes or any of that kind of stuff,
but the speed the NFL game and some of that stuff.
So it'll be fascinating to get into that. One thing
I did want to get into. Alex Singleton announced today
he's excited to launch his Special Olympics Tackling Inclusion during
the twenty twenty four season, and you can go to
(02:51):
his Alex Singleton forty nine Twitter page to find out
a little bit more about that. But he was to
raise ten thousand dollars and he left a statement there
for fans to be able to donate if they want
to get alongside him. But basically, there are about two
(03:12):
hundred million people with intellectual disabilities around the world, more
one hundred and fifty thousand in Colorado, and his goals
to reach out to every single one of them their
families as well. Special Olympics Colorado does that through a
wide range of training, competition, health screenings, fundraising, events and
creating opportunities. So Alex and his wife Ashley Singleton, they're
(03:33):
looking forward to doing the best that they can to
try to get to donate a dollar, get everybody donate
a dollar for each tackle that he makes, and to
generate money for the Special Olympics. They're estimating one hundred
and sixty tackles and if you do that a dollar
fifty six each, then that'll help get that money up
(03:54):
where they want to go. So if you enjoy the
Broncos charity work, that should be something each guys should
should look at as well. Everybody's wondering what the captain's
situation is going to look like for the Broncos. That'll
be out soon. I don't know if you guys saw
it earlier. Peter Schrager picked the Broncos to make the playoffs. Schreger,
(04:16):
of course, has a relationship with Sean Payton for their
time in media, so obviously rooting for his buddy. We'll see,
we'll see how that goes. The Broncos have the players
off day today on Tuesday. It's what a normal game
wee will look like. Tomorrow you'll have a full day
of meetings and practice Thursday, you'll have a full day
(04:38):
of meetings in practice. Friday you get practicing meetings in
the morning. There will be Saturday travel and then the
Sunday game, and that's going to be basically the schedule
that they do things. The Broncos this year will have
Monday's reserve for watching film the previous game, doing meetings,
and the Tuesday is gonna be the player off day.
So for those of you wondering about that, we've had
(05:00):
Sean Payton yesterday, got on the microphone, talked a little
bit about some of the reports out there, specifically the
Courtland Sutton situation. Sutton several reports out there, and I
can verify this is true that several teams had cold
about trading for Courtland Sutton. If the Broncos were interested,
they were not. The Niners, in anticipation of perhaps Brandon
(05:23):
Ayuk not sticking with the team and forcing his way
to be traded elsewhere, which ultimately ended up not happening,
were exploring other options. Offered the Denver Broncos a third
rounder in exchange for Courtland Sutton, which the Broncos just refused.
(05:43):
So it was weird because Sean Payton was like we
weren't down the road as far as it was reported, well,
it was reported that something was offered and it was refused.
I mean, that's what happened. I don't know how far
down the road you have to be, or if somebody
else was doing additional reports that were not act. I
didn't see them, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
(06:04):
It's kind of like that reporting that we saw this
offseason where some sketchy outlets on the internet were reporting
the Broncos were shopping Patzertan, which never happened at all
in any way, but people were willing to believe it
because that's what they do. I guess as far as
the sudden situation goes, yeah, I mean, you know, you
(06:26):
have teams that made offers, but the Broncos didn't entertain
them and they moved on from that. And it's really
where that story ends. The Broncos will have an injury
settlement for Jonas Griffith. During his exit exam from the team,
they discovered the the ACL stuff, so he's got to
(06:47):
go back through it. So that will be and that's
what brought on the team signing, you know, and then
they signed Christine Welch from the Packers, who, by the way,
everybody I'll talk to out the Packers loves that guy,
Christine Wells. He's a fan favorite up there. So just
because we don't know his name, the public doesn't know
his name that much, doesn't mean that he's not a
(07:08):
good football player. I tend to you know, I tend
to look at the disappointment level of fan bases when
it comes to some of these guys when they lose them,
and if there's a high disappointment level, I'm kind of
I'm kind of intrigued by that because that usually means
it's a good player who's just kind of been under
the radar, the same way Broncos fans were when Shaq
Barrett signed the big money deal dinner in Tampa. You know,
it's like one of those kind of things. And I'm
(07:29):
not saying that Welch is he's an inside Packer first
of all, but I'm not saying that he's anything on
the level of Shaq Barrett. But you get the idea
of how a fan base can be disappointed, crushed that
somebody's going on moving on and the receiving team may
or may not know what their you know, fan base
may or may not know what they're getting out of
that player. So the Broncos are going to weave him
(07:53):
with an injury settlement, so they're going to do right
by the player, make sure he gets some money off that.
So good for Jonas with the Broncos will, as we
talked about, announced those captains this week. I fully expect
Patser Tan bo Nicks to be both on that list.
The question will be who the other captains will be.
(08:15):
You know, I think Alex Singleton probably has to be
in that mix. I Mike mclinchy's probably in that mix.
You know, Courtland Sutton's probably in that mix. So we'll
see at the end of the day who gets voted
to that to those positions, but we'll see, we'll see
when that comes out. Linebacker Lavelle Bailey, who has waived
to make room for Christian Welch, has been signed back
(08:38):
to the practice squad. So that all that stuff occurred yesterday.
We did get a sheet this morning on new numbers.
Some of the Broncos are changing numbers, so you may
want to update your home score cards. Nick Benito will
now be number fifteen. Devon vallet Is changing to seventeen.
(09:05):
Previously he had been eighty one, which is Tim Patrick's number.
Christian Welch is changing to number fifty seven, and little
Jordan Humphrey is moving to eighty four. So if he
didn't have those numbers updated, those are the number changes
for the Denver Broncos. As we as we go forward,
(09:29):
a couple other news and notes ism running down the
list here in Powerfield at Mile High was nominated for
two awards by USA Today, Best NFL Stadium and Best
NFL Stadium Food. I will say, you know, the press
box spread is what it is, but the food at
the concessions I should say, Adam Powerfield at Mile High
(09:53):
really good. It's rare that I get a chance to
get down get down there and try those because I'm
usually either on the field or up there in the
press box or over in the over in the suite.
But it's it's when I have gotten down there to
try the food. I will say, the experience in the
power Field, the food, the concession food is pretty good
(10:14):
relative to a lot of other stadiums that that I've
been to. So we'll see. Baron Browning talked yesterday had
some interesting quotes He says he's looking forward to seeing
his buddy Draymont Jones this week. A lot of I
think a lot of Broncos fans have forgotten that Draymond
Jones is up there in Seattle. Dray m not going
(10:38):
to be playing a little bit different position this year
for the Seahawks than what he played previously. And of
course I think most Broncos fans are for me. With
Noah Fant being there with the Seahawks, We'll see how
he gets used on offense there. He's been a pretty
decent player over the course of his career. He all
both obviously fans involved with the Russell Wilson trade. Shelby
(11:01):
Harris used to be there in Seattle now is in Cleveland,
so there'll be I'm sure there'll be a lot of
updates on all that kind of stuff when we watch
the game on Sunday. Browning said that Jonah Ellis has
made big stride since the Broncos drafted him. He's excited
to see what he brings this fall. Right now, Ellis
(11:21):
is a situational pass rusher and he works into the
rotation on obvious passing down. Same thing with Nick Benito.
Although Benito's a little further ahead. Ellis Coop is more
of the run fits guy and the contained guy, and
Browning of course one of the starters on the outside
who has got to prove that he can stay healthy.
(11:43):
I think that's really the thing for Baron Browning. If
he wants a big money contract, the productivity has to
be there, but he's got to prove he can stay
healthy too. That's been a tough thing for him thus
far in his career. And I feel like that if
you're going to be the type of player who's asking
for the type of money that Baron Browning is going
(12:04):
to be asking for, then you've got to be the
type of player that is available for more than, you know,
half the season. I think Broncos fans remember corner in
Bryce Callahan, who you know, a guy who's available half
the season, great player when he's there, but you know,
available half the season. Coaches they want reliability, and they'll
(12:25):
take reliability over talent at times because they want variables
that they can control. And if you've got a player
who's not going to be available, you know, I think
they're going to take the guy who's got the availability
over over the talent. I mean, unless it's just an
insurmountable jump and talent. But I think that if you
(12:46):
look at what the way that most coaches sort of
handle that, I think you you find out that they
look for the reliability and the availability and favor that
and will favor to that every time. Browning also said
he believed the Broncos defense is going to be better
this year. So he like the strides that they've been making,
They're going to show up. It's going to show up
(13:08):
this season. Broncos were embarrassed last year. They were humiliated
last year by that Miami game, and rightfully so, but
that defense was humiliated by that. The defense had been
long been the hallmark of this football team. I know
everybody remembers what Peyton Mannon got here and the Star
Wars numbers and all that, but the defense is what
(13:30):
carried them to that Super Bowl win, and you know,
that's it. For the better part of a decade and
some change, the defense has been the identity of Denver
Broncos football. And that may change. Bon Nicks is everything
that everybody hopes he can be. That'll change, But as
it sits right now, that defense had a lot of
wounded pride last year. You know, I mean, you're a
(13:52):
football team that has long prided itself on its defensive ability,
and Russell Wilson wasn't playing horrible last year. The statistical
output was pretty decent, but the defense couldn't hold its
end in several games, especially early on. You know, you
look at how many points they gave up against Washington,
they gave up against Miami, and that definitely affected the
(14:15):
overall averages on the season, the numbers, the outlooks on
the season. They got better as the season went on,
and we saw what they were able to do when
they had that stretch of games that they won there
in the middle of the back half of the season,
when the defense was generating turnovers and pressure and all
that kind of stuff. I think that Browning, who views
(14:37):
himself as a leader, I think when he says he
feels like this defense is going to be better, he's
also laying a challenge. You know, he's also sitting there saying, hey, look,
we have to be better. It's not optional. This isn't
something that we've got a rookie quarterback out there. This
isn't something that we can just sit there and take
(14:58):
for granted that we have been effected, and especially when
you look at last year when they weren't. This defense
is going to have to generate turnovers. They're going to
have to get stops. They're going to have to get
late game scenarios in which they are able to turn
teams over, stop them on third down, stop extended drives,
(15:19):
take the ball away and put the offense back on
the field in an effort to make plays. And if
they're unable to do that, well, you're in for a
long year, especially with the rookie quarterback. Josh Reynolds spoke
yesterday as well, talked a little bit about how much
he really like Devon Vallet's savviiness, his maturity, you know,
(15:44):
how he manipulates defensive backs to get open, you know.
He added that his personal goal, when asked was to
get back the playoffs in the Super Bowl. It said
that the team has those overarching goals, but their focused
on the moment beating Seattle. They're not even looking at
Pittsburgh yet. He went on to single out Riley Moss
(16:09):
and calling him a great corner is, saying that he's
patient at the line, which can be tough for young
players and then he's excited to see him ball out,
and of course said that you know Bo, he said
he bow is gonna be good for this he plays,
call him. He's ready for the road games. That Seattle
is a tough environment, but he's played in big games
with loudcrowds before, so I think he'll adjust to it.
(16:30):
He has a lot of a lot of confidence and
a lot of confidence in this team. We come back,
we're gonna start getting the nitty gritty on this thing.
What are going to be the keys for the Denver
Broncos to be successful to beat the Seahawks. You are
listening to Broncos Country tonight right here on KOE. IT'SAVE
fifty am ninety four, one of them news talk sports.
(16:54):
Welcome back to it, Broncos Country tonight. Benjamin Albright here
with you. Get into a little bit of Broncos Seahawks preview.
Get into that a minute. I don't know if you
guys saw this college football now in full swing. Obviously
your CU Buffs beat the North Dakota State Bison's late
last Thursday right here on KAWA. But I don't know
(17:16):
if you guys saw this Florida State who has started
the season zero and two now has got some crazy fans.
I've dealt with the Florida State fan base before. They
are a different sort of breed. But somebody who goes
by the handle at three two one knowll On Twitter
people do all sorts of crazy things and make ridiculous
(17:36):
pledges and support their teams, tattoos, dares, everything in between.
Then you get the special fans out there who live
to entertain us with their blind devotion. And this guy
I don't even know. Yeah, he promised a little more
disgusting repast for himself should his beloved Seminoles lose to
(17:59):
Boston College. The sweet taste of dog mess red solo
cups obviously very common in the South, but a promise
of this kind may not be the publicity the company
had in mind. The user, who has since not only
deleted his tweet but deleted his account, tweeted out that
(18:20):
if Florida State loses to Boston College this weekend, I
will eat dog bleep out of a red solo cup
with a spoon and post a video of me doing it,
and then to put the cherry on top of this Sunday,
as it were said. Book it down below the fan
known as three two one doll or Gudge. Gudge on
(18:43):
Twitter swore that if his team lost, he was willing
to go hawkpooa I guess with a spoon in hand. However,
the now mythical dog poop punishment Man has gone dark
and the Internet is in purgatory as everyone waits for
him to pull through. Following Florida State's loss to Georgia
(19:03):
Tech and what is termed as Week as zero, the
Seminoles game against Boston College was pretty much right or
die when it came to their chance to make the
college football playoffs, and the Week one game may have
also seemed bright or die for the Gudge that he
put that out there once it became readily apparently Noles
we're going to pull the comeback off against the Eagles.
Goudge's account could no longer be found. Tom Ferdelli quote
(19:26):
tweeted it and with the make it a quote deal.
When the world needed him most, he vanished. You know,
we we have some some funny. There's a lot of
good memes. If you haven't seen him already, the the
Nick Saban, Kirk kurb Street, Desmond Howard, Weird Faces, Quatro
(19:47):
selfie thing. Wonder where he's at, somebody using the Kevin
from the office being forced to eat the broccoli got
a hate it when and then and one of my
favorite accounts on Twitter, which is three year Letterman. I
don't know if you guys have seen this. It's a
satire thing and it's a great bit. This is the
guy does, says the community reaction to the FSU dog
(20:11):
poop Guy has yet another great example of how college
football Twitter is vastly superior to politics Twitter. And so
there are there are some great, you know, great people
that are ripping that off Twitter. Quaddy says, if Oregon
doesn't cover against Boise State this weekend, I will eat
(20:31):
a steak dinner with lobster tail and cheesecake for dessert
with a spoon and post a video of me doing it.
Book it which is which is phenomenal to bring it home.
Karen McGee, who roots for Nebraska, said that if Nebraska
loses to Colorado this weekend, I will honor coach Prime
by cutting off two of my toes and post a
video of me doing it. Book it. That may have
(20:53):
been a bit personal with with Primes, you know, diabetes.
If uc F beat Sam Houston's state, I will chug
a beer that I will chug another beer and then
another one book it. So yeah, that's having it's fun
with less than disgusting punishments for the possibility of their
team's losing. And I'm sure everybody's gonna be on the
lookout for this gudge return to the to the grid.
(21:15):
For his sake and the stake of Smach, I hope
he remains in social media solitude util his blows over
so you can live this down, because if not, you
know there are going to be people that certainly hounding
him no pun intended for his promise that he most
(21:36):
certainly did not pay up on. We've got a Kowa
poll out how many wins do you think the Broncos
are going to have this year? If you go to
at Kiowa, Colorado, you can get in on that and
tell us how many wins you think the Broncos are
gonna have. A lot of you and the double digits
on this one. I figured it'd be a lot a
(21:59):
little bit more measured, but a lot of people in
the double digit win totals on this one. So we'll
see Fantasy football note Taysom Hill is now officially listed
as a tight end on the Saints depth chart. Previously
was of course a quarterback, So if you played in
two QB leagues, there was a kind of a cheat
sheet to get him and put him in there and
(22:19):
use him. Ryan Edwards were all looking at you, but
they're using him. They've put him as the as the
tight end now, so that's probably more in line with
what it is that he actually does. A couple other
news and notes around the league. Patrick Peterson was talking
(22:45):
about Mike Tomlin, who, by the way, Russell Wilson named
one of the Steelers captains. In case anybody was interested,
Cam Heyward, Miles killibrew T, J Watt, Russell Wilson were
the four captains for the Steelers. An interesting thing there.
Tomlin has said he's had concerns about the Steelers wide
(23:07):
receiver room, but that two veterans have emerged to make
him feel better about it. Steelers, of course, the week
two opponents for the Broncos. Russell Wilson comes back to
town with his new team. I think it's I think
that the problem with the Steelers. I mean, we all
know about the wide receiver room, but I think the
(23:28):
problem there is the offensive line never right tackle is
not particularly good. The center position had an injury, and
so it's going to be interesting, you know, to see
what they're able to do in terms of being able
to protect enough for rush to pass and in that
offense that Arthur Smith offense. The two veterans that they
(23:49):
talked about stepping up. Obviously everybody knows who George Pickens is,
but the two veteran receivers that they talked about stepping up,
Van Jefferson and Scottie Miller. So we'll see what kind
of impact those two guys make for the Steelers as
well as for the Broncos. I mean, you got the
Seahawks coming up, and we talked a little bit about
what Michael McDonald's defense looks like. I was talking with
(24:13):
somebody the other day and they were asking what has
to go right, what has to go wrong for the
Broncos to win, And I think you're hitting that team
at the right time, because defenses usually take a while
to jail. Usually you get into week six, week eight
before defense really hits their stride and starts playing well.
I mean, you get defenses that are playing well at
(24:33):
the earlier part of the year, you will, but most
defenses take a few weeks to really jell, especially if
there's not continuit a year over year right as these
guys learn to the new pieces that are on the defense,
that kind of stuff. And I think if you've got
a rookie quarterback and you're playing a defense that loves
to disguise things as much as Michael McDonald does, I
(24:55):
think if you're the Broncos, you're kind of getting a
gift and hitting it at the right time. I've talked
about how loud it is up there in Seattle, and yeah,
I know he's played games at Douve Valley and all
that kind of stuff that there are loud games in
college football too, but it's it's a little bit different.
The crowd's right on you in in pro football. You know,
you don't have those those ridiculous sized sidelines and uh
(25:17):
and all that kind of stuff. It's just it's loud,
uh and it's tough to hear. And you know it's
it's the student section isn't sitting there playing. They're all screaming.
There's no student section playing instruments and all that kinds.
They're they're they're all screaming I it's gonna be tough.
It's gonna be tough to hear, and so you have
to be I have to understand what it is that
you're doing, and you have to understand your nonverbals and
(25:40):
your cues and everything else. Everybody's got to be on
the same page. And I again, you've got all the
time in the world to game plan for this particular game,
so you can work up a script as deep as
you like for this one. And I think I think
that's the one advantage you get to starting this thing
on the road, starting in a loud environment, starting against Seattle.
(26:05):
And then the other part of the advantage is that
you've got brand new offensive defensive coordinators for this football team. Grub,
of course, was a collegiate offensive coordinator, but you know,
stepping into the NFL game, McDonald was the defensive coordinator
but now has head coach duties on top of it.
And I think that it's going to be interesting to
(26:25):
see their learning curve how quickly they adapt. You know,
last time that the Broncos played the Seahawks and made
that trip up there, we had the rookie head coaching
coordinator on our side, and they made some poor decisions.
We saw that when Nyde Hackett, you know, I it's
to me. I feel like that this is a winnable
(26:47):
game for the Broncos. But the question is how much
of what we saw in this past preseason really translates.
How much of what we saw Bonnicks in this offense
and these ones playing together against the twos and threes
of Indianapolis and Green Bay really translates to playing against
(27:08):
the Seahawks wants. And that's the question. I'm not trying
to be a wet blanket. I'm not trying to be
a downer. I don't want to sit there, and you know,
the Broncos are way more fun for me to cover
when they're winning. I don't want to sit there and
make it like, you know, a doom and gloom. But
I do. I do have concerns. I mean, I have
(27:29):
concerns when you've got guys who are starters and in
some cases all pro talent that are teeing off against
guys that are you know, barely on practice squads, that
it creates a false sense of confidence. And I get
you want to create confidence in your guy, but it
creates a false sense of confidence in the fan base
when they're not able to do certain things or you
(27:51):
know whatever. I get wanting the game to slow down
for Bonix, I get Sean Payton trying to get them reps,
and I'm all for it. I didn't have any problems
with it from that perspective. I love the way that
they did it. Let Jared Steada be the first guy
out there, then you know, Bolk work his way, and
then Bose the starter, and I was perfectly fine with that.
And the only part that I had issue with or
(28:13):
took exception to, was the fan base making it out
to make bo Nix look all world and I'm like,
there are things to like here. There are definitely things
to like here, but keep in mind that we're up
against a significantly lesser level of competition and that needs
to be taken into account as we're we're looking at
(28:34):
what we have. The defense for the Seahawks. It's at
its core similar to what Fangio ram. At its core,
it is a read and react defense, but there's a
lot of disguises. They will blitz DB's at times. The
idea is you want to get home with three or four,
(28:55):
you will drop everybody else back. It is a middle
of the field open, not middlefield closed. You know, you
look at what Seattle's traditionally run with the Legion of Boom,
was that cover three with the really long corners. Well,
now you've got something that's a little bit different. The
rules are a little bit different, and it's gonna take
some time to work some guys out of their instincts.
I think on some of that. But you know, it
(29:17):
is a complex defense, and I will say that if
you talk to quarterbacks around the league, you do at
times got a little a sense of their frustration and
dealing with it because the looks are so exotic that
you're just not sure at times what you're seeing. You
want a quarterback like a Payton manning out there with
(29:38):
an elite process or an elite mind, because they've seen
it all, they've done it all, diagnosing those kinds of
things and kind of like, okay, nice giving me this.
I sort of see this. It's tough. It's gonna be
It's like drinking through a fire hose if you're a
rookie trying to figure that out. Although it may make
other defenses seem a little bit less complex by by default,
(30:00):
I when I look at this defense, there are some
interesting ways that it sort of messes with you too,
about the contain and trying to push them, push the
pocket and things like that as well. Your instincts are
telling you to do something, and they'll they'll do different
(30:21):
things to sort of take that away. But at its core,
it's a lot closer to what vig Fangio runs. And
I think if you're going to beat that defense, it
starts with running the football. You're gonna have to run
a football. You're gonna have to be successful running the
football because that defense it invites you to run on it.
That's the premise behind it. The premise is that running
(30:41):
the football is a lower expected points added per play deal, right,
That's the premise. And so the premise is, we want
you running the ball on first and second down. We
want you to run the ball. We're gonna give you
looks that entice you to run the ball, and then
we will attempt to shut that run down and put
you at third and six place us and trying to
make a throw. And that's where we'll come after you.
(31:05):
In terms of you know, how they come after you.
It's a little bit different. I mean, the techniques a
little bit different that kind of stuff, but a lot
of a lot of big body power guys, you know,
push the pocket type guys and that sort of thing
involved there, and then your linebackers have to be able
to cover, you know, and they do have that, they
(31:27):
have the ability to do that. On the offensive side
of the ball, we don't know what Ryan Grub is
gonna run. You know, we've seen Geno the last couple
of years. I didn't think he was as good last
year as he was here before, but you know, we've seen,
you know, what he can do. We've seen what his
backup Sam Howell can do. Saw him last year in
(31:48):
that Eric Banaby offense. And I think you're going to
see an offense that tries to attack the flats with
the play action boot game, tries to attack the flats
and then when you u when you especially if you
get guys in those hook zones right so they'll they'll
(32:08):
get underneath you and then they'll then when those guys
with the hooks start biting down, that's when they start
trying to get those one on ones over the top
or exploit that, or to do comebacks and get the
hit the honey hole back there, and I think that's
what you're going to see. I think you're going to
see a lot of passing outside the numbers in this offense.
You'll see them spread it out and attempt to take
(32:30):
advantage and run the football that way once you spread out.
And those are those are just the basic concepts. I mean,
there's we can get a little deeper into it. You know.
The idea is to get guys biting down on all
the flats action and then you get, like I said,
a one on one over the top. You get a
DK Metcalf going up top one on one and you
uh and you take advantage. We'll see. I think the
(32:51):
CounterPunch to that, you know this year is that the
Broncos aren't running what VIC used to run. It's a
lot closer to what Dvance is traditionally run. And I
think Patzertan is going to have some freedom to little
shadow Dkay all over the field. Instead of just being
a guy on one half of the field in which
you just move them over the other side, you use
(33:12):
Lockett and as Smith and Jigba and that ties him up.
And to be fair, the Seahawks have three quality receivers.
I mean, you know, Tyler Lockett, even on the down
side of his career, is still quite good. Jackson Smith
and Jigba, A lot of teams would look at him
as a one bee. You know, you pair him up
with DK and Tyler Lockett, you've got yourself a heck
of a heck of a receiving trio. And Noah Fan
(33:32):
can a little stiff in the hips, but we can
eat up underneath his. Broncos fans have seen before. So
when you look at the totality of what Seattle's going
to do, they want their offense to be to be
able to be ball controlled but also be able to
be explosive, and we saw Ryan Grubb kind of kind
of do that with several different things in Washington. I
(33:53):
think the one thing that bugs me is how little
his back stayed in for protection. So maybe there's something
for the Broncos to take advantage of as a rush unit,
knowing what the back is going to do, be out
there in the flat or whatever in an attempt to
draw the coverage one direction and sort of be and
(34:14):
sort of be misdirectional, you know, in a lot of ways.
So I think there are ways for Denver to exploit
that exploit what it is they want to do on offense.
The key is going to be remaining sound in the
run fits game when they spread you out and not
you know, spreading yourself out and getting susceptible to be
(34:36):
and run on that way. So you listen to Broncos
