the supply cause we're just giving everything away. Looks like Nick.
Apparently Nick's got a shirt on right now. It's Air
Jordan shirt. We're giving that away too. Come on out
win Nick shirt.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Wait? Wait, how much was it to get back home shirtless?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
I think you won't be a problem for you. If
you sit, it might be less of a problem for you.
I'm just saying, if I take my shirt off, nobody's
giving me a ride.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
How do I walk back home and tell my wife? See?
See what had happened was.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
When you're right around the corner from certain other establishments.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
I'm just saying, say, Ben made a promise I had
to keep both me and and.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
This is what I guess the Shannon. We're giving Shannon
the Knick shirt. I'm keeping my shirt, We're giving their
I'm just saying, oh, five, six, six, nine zeros of
text line. You guys want to get involved in the conversation.
We've got a big show tonight, looking forward to Thursday
night football. We got the Falcons and the Bucks Baker
the candlestick Maker against Kirk Cousins. We have Ruby p
(01:20):
gonna join us as well in the seven o'clock hour,
so tons of stuff to get through. Rick lewis going
to join us bottom of the hour here, talk a
little bit about this Raiders game. Raiders look like a
mess right now. You got drama going on with the
head coach, you got drama going on with your receiver.
You got twelve players I think now on the injury
reports that did not practice. It's a bad time to
be a really good time to be a Bronco fan.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Though, Well, isn't it like typical Raiders for situations like
this to play out?
Speaker 2 (01:46):
I know, Alan Davis is much ra was.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Just win, baby win, but that hasn't really been the
case for the Radism to this point, right and listen,
I mean it is a dumpsifire right now and it's
right time for the Broncos to take advantage of it.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
But you can't overlook the.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Raiders because the Broncos and eight tries haven't defeated this
team and this be a perfect weekend for them to
try to get things back on track.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
And also three wins in a row.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yeah, I think both. I think you can end a
streak and start a streak. I don't think two wins
is a streak. Three weedons is a streak, right, so
you could you could get that going. And oh, by
the way, and the streak, the Denver Broncos haven't never
beaten the Las Vegas Raiders.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
No, they haven't. They've beaten the Oakland Raiders.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
So this is a great opportunity for the Broncos to
do just that and really show a little explosiveness on
the defense, I mean the offensive side of the ball,
because we have yet to see that thus far this
season with from the office. Now we've we've seen the
best of the best from the defense. I still this
thing as though this defense hadn't hit their full stride
(02:56):
just yet. But I want to see a little more creativity.
I want to see a little execution from the offensive
side of the ball. This is the game, this is
the week, this is the team to do it against.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Yeah, and you you gotta get the offense go. The
defense is ready to go. You're up against the team
that's banged up. They don't have a lot of pieces
on defense anyway. They do have a great Max Crosby,
but he was out last game. He's got a high
ankle spray and we'll see if that effects limits or
even keeps him out of this game as well. I'm
not really scared of much else on the defensive side
from the Raiders. They don't get slock corner Nate Hobbs,
but their linebacker Divine the outlowout as well.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Well.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
This is a game that for me, the Broncos can
continue the momentum moving from what they established last week
with getting Javonte Williams involved with the offense up to
allow him to start the game and start the game
like maybe five ten consecutive players and kind of get
him into somewhat of a swing that would definitely help
(03:48):
out bow Nicks in this offense. But with that being said,
knowing as though the Raiders are missing separate players, Max
Crosby could miss the game on Sunday, and he is
a game changer, impact.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Player for the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
If the Broncos offense were to have another slow start
and slow finish, what would that say to you about
damn Knowing as though looking from a scheme standpoint and
the fact that players being available, what would.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
That say about the Broncos if this deal struggle?
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Well, I think you have to look at the tape
and make sure. But he's in an execution issue. He
is at a schematic issue. What what is going on?
Because you know, a lot of what happened in New
York is getting blamed on the weather, but there were
there were execution issues there that were beyond what was
just the weather. We have a quarterback who the game
still seems a little bit fast for him at times. Uh,
We've got we've got receivers that you know, and I
(04:40):
say that as a whole that includes the tight en
court that that are struggling to find the soft spot
and zone at times. We we've had some catch issues,
some drop issues a little bit early on the one thing,
I will say, the protection is mostly held up. You
look at you look at Even with McGlinchey out at
alex posies, he's come on and really made it a conversation.
You know, like, what do you do when McGlinchey comes back,
(05:02):
because you know what to do?
Speaker 2 (05:03):
What you mean, what do you do?
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Is playing pretty well well?
Speaker 3 (05:06):
You keep al pale right where he is so he
could be a pal to your quarterback both knicks, Because
let's be totally honest about the situation. Was Mike mcglitchy
playing his best ball before his injury?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
We just playing good ball, I mean relatives relative to.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
What he What did I say? I just say good
I said is his best game?
Speaker 3 (05:26):
And and and be totally honest and fair about the situation.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
It's no.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
And sometimes you need a little competition from the guy
behind you to make you step your game up and
make you realize what you're possibly missing out on.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
But it also gives it broncos if they so chose to.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Do it, it gives them an out with Mike mcglitchy,
with someone else who's not being paid as heavily as
he is.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
To step into that role. Well.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
The other problem though, is you restructure mcglinchey's contracts, you
not get rid of him this year, probably not next
year either, just based on the money. So that's one
of those things where if Palcheski plays well, do you
kick him over to the left side? Why next year?
Garrett bulls Wait.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Wait wait wait wait, So don't try to plug on
one hole is by sticking another guy.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
I'm the proprietor of that. You know, you don't cut
a hole in your boat to fix all the boat.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
I mean, there's nothing wrong with what Garrett Bolves is
doing right now, so why would you try to move him?
The idea is try to maintain as much chemistry on
that offensive line as possible.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
We talked about this before. What would this offensive.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Line would have looked like with Lloyd Kushionbury being the center.
That's not the case now. So now we're going into
week five, they've already established some type of synergy. Right now,
there's another guy and plugged in there for Mike mcgritchy.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
It's working right now.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
And the one thing you don't want to do, even
though the offense isn't playing at a high level, don't
disrupt the chemistry that's been formed as far.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Don't do that.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Yeah, I agree, plenty of time to get into that
later on the show. Thursday Night Football Tonight, Bucks take
it on the Falcons. Both these teams the Bucks three
at one, of course, the load loss being to Denver.
Falcons are five hundred. They had a little banged up
Kirk Cousins to start the season. Both these teams are
kind of looking to take over the division. Here, what
do you think before this one kicks off the night?
(07:14):
What do you think about Tampa at Atlanta?
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Well, Tampa play great last week against beat up and
deficient eglesye yo DeVante Smith. No, so, I mean they
may live to work of the Philadelphia Eagers defense because
the Bucks gave up about five six sacks against the
Broncos a week before they flipped the script and they
(07:38):
had seven of their own.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
So no one.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
As though Kirk Cousins is a stationary target. He couldn't
move before, he can't move now. I don't see why
Todd Bose is not going to bring the blitz. But
for the Falcons, what they have to do is get
Vjon Robinson more involved. Could you believe he only has
one rushing touchdown off season.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Why didn't even get both backs more? Tyler ale Jeer
is a punishing runner back there. I think you can
get him more between the twenties or goal line and
short yardage tight carriers. But yeah, he only is one
touchdown so far. Because they getting the red zone on
the state and keep throwing the ball.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
I think they need to.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Get Kyle Pitts more involved. I think I think we're
gonna see that tonight. I think this might be a
showcase game for Kyle Pitts as they continue to sort
of look at and soft pedal that that that potential
trade off the center.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
I'm glad you.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Said that, because that's the first thing I thought about
was Okay, Well, Kyle Pitts to this point hasn't received
a lot of targets, hasn't really been involved in the offense, and.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
I thought that was gonna be the case with the offensive.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Coordinated coming from Sean McVay and the Rams, Tyler Higg
being jer Everett, you know with the Rams, those guys
were more with his offense. But this could be one
of those games to feature him and if we see
out the gate we're talking about maybe three straight targets
to Kyle Pitts, right and that right at that point,
I'm gonna say the fixes in the showcases.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
It's a showcase showdown, Boby one dollar. Yeah, I feel
like you've had a lot of inquiries, Bilo, inquiries on
Kyle Pitts Thow's far. If you're Atlanta, you probably do
want to showcase them trying to get that value up
a little bit as well. Major League Baseball postseason has begun.
Do we do care?
Speaker 4 (09:13):
WHOA?
Speaker 2 (09:14):
I care? You watch baseball? Yeah? I watch baseball.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Who's winning right now? Well, I mean it's playing right now.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
I think the Padres are playing. I just walked in,
so I didn't see it. But this is like the
most exciting time.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
Like October, Like this is why Derek Jeter, Yeah, got
the nickname mister October.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Reggie Jacksonville, No.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
No, Derek Jeter, mister October because always something fantastic happens
at this particular point, and with the Major League Baseball
happened so many games.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
To be totally honest, I really don't.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Start paying attention until after All Star because teams are
trying to reposition himself or position themselves, so this is
going to be a great run. You seem as though
you're not gonna watch.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
It's such a lengthy season.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
I used to be a baseball junkie, and I'm just
not so much anymore. I'm so absorbed in football during
the football season. I get to basketball after the football seasons, so.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
That means you're not even watching a w n b A.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
I mean, yeah, I barely get to basketball till after too.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Man, there's a there's a great series right now. It's
the game of five.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Right now, the New.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
York Liberty leads the Las Vegas Aces two. Oh, and
this is gonna be a close out game. I think
is on Friday is the favorite. Yeah, they were, and
right now the chemistry is not there for them. But
this is why this time of year is so exciting.
The NFL is in fullest wing major League Baseball. You
(10:41):
had the playoffs, the w n b A, the NBA
is getting ready to come back. This is great even
preseason hockey.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Yeah, I don't get.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
That's the thing.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
I just during football season. It's just pretty much football
for me. Between college and prodely don't have I don't
have the bandwidth for anything else.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
The only thing we need more if we had soccer,
right my, my, my, Gironna FC over there in Lodiga
in h in Spain.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Yes, No, I mean I just don't have the bandwidth.
I don't. I just spend so much time on foot
folder in the season that I just don't have the
bandwidth till afterwards. I always take that first week after
the season and just kind of take a decompression, you know,
kind of kind of break, and then I dive in
on the basketball, especially like college basketball, right out of
that time. Because you know, I love March Madness and
all that. I try to get myself as prep for
that as I can. And uh, and then the NBA
(11:28):
because it's funny because the NBA you have the regular season,
and the playoffs are a whole nother season in the
NBA because it's like somebody best of sevens and there's
so many games. It's a whole nother season.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
It is.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
And speaking of which, I can't wait to see what
happens with the Nuggets this year with Westbrook being in
the foll And I know Michael Porter junior, you know, listen,
everyone was waiting for him to take that next step, right.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
But he really hasn't done that just yet.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
And for me, I know, Christian Brown, that's another guy
that they say, listen, we want to put him into
the fold. He's going to be our guy. I know
he showed that he can play great defense. Right this
offense is coming along, but he is kind of a
defensive specialist, and then you don't have a you know,
other players you're hoping to get production from. But for me,
(12:21):
it is I want to see what Russell West what
brings to the Mile High City. And knowing as though
he likes to push the pace and I wouldn't mind
if coach Malone put him in the starting lineup.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Well, I wondering what.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
They're going to do with those combinations. Do you put
him at the one and move Murray over to the two? Yes,
you know you don't like that idea because I like
Brown better off the bench. I think he's ever when
Kenneth for Ree was here and then they put him
in the starting lineup and he went.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Is effect destroy his makeup?
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Yeah, he's an energy guy. He's an energy guy, and
so that's for me, that's one of those things that
I look at as Kyle Pitts gets a catch early on,
and we're seeing the showcase early. I think SHOWK showed
down Bob. I think you know I The guard rotation
with the Nuggets this year does fascinate me a little bit.
And I'm wondering exactly how they're gonna do that other
good experiment with that, what they're gonna do because to me,
(13:09):
Run Westbrook feels like a fifteen minute a game guy.
But maybe, you know, maybe he's got some some gas
still left in the tag.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
I believe he does.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
And everything is about setting players up and coach Malone
has shown that he can do that. Anytime you have
a big guy like Joker who sees the floor well
and he can pass the chess pass, the bounce past,
the no look pass, all you have to do is dive.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
And cut to the basket. He's gonna find you.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
And I'm thinking, because of Westbrook's ability to push the
pace and the energy, you take the pressure off Jamal
Murray and you allow him to just be a score.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Yeah, that that'll be fascinating to look at how you
work in guys like Watson and Julia screw Author.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Those all those guys who play on that.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Sorry sure they signed you know those kind of guys.
How they're gonna work all these guys, you know, into
the rotation. And then there's some rumors that they're trying
to get Michael Porter Junior maybe play a little bit
more of the four this year where they've got it
in maybe an anticipation of Aaron Gordon possibly leaving because
he's in the contract year.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Well, that is something that you have to do.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
But when you think about Michael Porter Julia, can't he
really truly step into that role because when you think
about what Aaron Gordon adds to this team, this is
the guy who has worked well with Joker. Although I
just constantly think about those baseline Isley loops and bounce passes,
the back door cuts, and Aaron Gordon is there with
(14:32):
the finish, Michael Porter Junior is more stagnant. Went into
the offense. He just runs to the short corner and
stands this. And that's the one thing that drives me nuts.
Just like, dude, you so long, you're so athletic. Cut
to the basket. Joker is going to find you. But
I know he kind of considers himself a three point sharpshooter.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
The corner specialist that kind of thing. Pat used to
do the same thing. You just can't out there on
the three point line. And that's what it kind of
reminds me a little bit of this point. You're watching
Michael Porter Junior uh play.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
We're live out at.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Sam's Number three and Glenda, you guys want to.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Come on down.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
We got a tough stuff uh to give away. We
got uh We're we're getting people registered for the patser
tans uh uh signed. Was it a football or is
it a helmet? And then we've got the Givati Williams
signe jersey. We've got the the Panthers tickets, the Bonco
tickets you can get qualified for. It's a QR coat
up here coming up. Got some Sam's Number three gift
(15:30):
cards to get to you guys. We had a ton
of stuff. Then we're giving away down here. We got
Rick Lewis is gonna join us in the next segment,
No one talk to Rick and see what what he thinks,
because he, you know, he and Dave were there in
in New York and seeing the uh, you know, seeing
that in the elements and seeing that debacle kind of
in the first half where you know, Bo completed five
balls but still had negative nine yards passing. Uh, and
(15:51):
then how he and Aaron H. Rogers were able to
pass better in the second half. I look at this
and and I'm like, what Jackal hide? Uh sort of team,
But we're going to get out of the le Broncos.
This time we saw We saw what we thought we
were going to see all season against Tampa where they started,
got the got the offense going. Then we saw it
turtle turtle back up against New York. Although I will
(16:14):
say in the second half, I love the fact they
started running football and I hope they start this game
out continuing and.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Win that moll, It's interesting that you mentioned the jecku
Hyde reference. I personally would prefer hide because hide is
it's uncontrollable, ultimate chaos and disruption.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
That's what I want that That's.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
My goal for this Broncos offense, for them to possess
that type of attitude.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
They showed a little bit last week getting the run
game going and trying to establish that type of attitude.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Because when you look at the offense as a whole
up to this point, we had it in Week five.
If I would to ask you, well, what is its
offense identity.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
We know the defense is identity.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
We still don't know the offense.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
I don't That's what I'm saying. So they're trying to
establish that kind of I'm going to.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Smash Mountain nine to seven type offense. That's why I
want more high and less jack.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Hey, I'm good either way. I just want us to
win some football games. I don't want to see the
offense look like it can move the chains for a starter.
We'll worry about an identity after we after we figure
out how to do that. This is the Broncos Country
and I were live down here at Sam's Number three
Diner and Bar here at in Glendale. Guys, come on
out again. I mentioned all this stuff. We're giving it away.
Come on out and say hi to us. We got
Rick Lewis come up next to the color analysts, the
(17:28):
Nenver Broncos. This is the Broncos Country night right here
on KWA It's E fifty am and ninety four one
FM News Talk Sports. Rick, we we've seen a bit
of a jackal and hide over the last two games
from the Broncos offense. Obviously, the weather played a bit
of a factor in the first half and in the
second half, they pivoted and finally committed to the run
(17:48):
game to positive results. I want to see them commit
to the run game without whether or anything anything else,
But we've seen Sean Payton be hesitant to do that.
What do you expect against a Bank Raiders team this weekend?
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Well, yeah, it was refreshing to finally see them able
to run the football, especially in the second half when
they really needed to do something on offense. And one
thing I think that was notable in that game was
Javonte Williams looked more like the Javonte Williams that we
know and love from his rookie year. He had better vision,
(18:26):
he was breaking tackles, he was hitting the hall hard.
That's the type of Javante Williams runs that we need.
And you know, watching him on Sunday in New York,
I was thinking that maybe he felt like his job
was threatened a bit by Tyler bidet all to talk
about Tyler badat all week. And so Javante really showed
(18:49):
up to play last week and we need to see
that every week from him. And yeah, this Raiders team,
if you can run on this team, and as you
guys know, they're beat up, They're in a state of disarray.
This team is ready to be beat on Sunday at
in Power Field. And if you can run the ball,
(19:11):
just just run the ball right down the throat of
these guys and establish that run, it gives bone Nicks
a much better chance to have success. You know, he
looks so good in Tampa Bay. He looked so bad
last week in New York. I feel like this week
bone Knicks will get back, you know, back on track
and looking better. I don't know if he'll play as
(19:32):
well as you did in Tampa, but you'll see a
better version of bon Nicks this week against the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
Well, rag, let's stay right there for a second.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
How fair is the criticism of bon Nicks knowing as
though three of the first four games as a rookie
he played on the row, and I believe three of
the next four games will be here at home.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
How much will that home.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Cooking and being able to sleep in your own bed,
being in Broncos country, being in in power Field? Did that,
in your opinion, change the outcome and the production for
bon Knicks.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Yeah, you know what, Broncos fans are really impatient and
NFL fans in general are really impatient when it comes
to rookie quarterbacks. They ran the gauntlets those first four games,
and I expected they would come out of that one
in three. They came out to and two. So there's
a lot of reason for optimism. And especially that Tampa
Bay game where we saw everything come together on both
(20:28):
sides of the ball for this football team, you can
see how they're capable of playing now with a young
quarterback like bone Knicks. Man, there's gonna be growing pays.
It's gonna be ups and downs, and that's what we've seen.
But you have to give this kid a chance. Now.
These next four games, you know, all four of these
games are what I would consider winnable games, and if
(20:49):
you win three out of the four, you're in a
really good position. Now if you go one in three
in these next four games, and bone Knicks is still
making the kind of mistakes that we saw last week
in New York where he just looked unsettled and you know,
his footwork was off again, as mechanics were off again.
I hate to see them waste a top tier defense.
(21:12):
And if you really want to win football games and
you think you can make a playoff run. Maybe at
that point you think about sitting him down. Just send
him down a little bit and take the pressure off
of him and put in Steadham or Zach Wilson and
see what you can do down the stretch with a
veteran quarterback in this defense, and you may be able
(21:32):
to sneak in the back door, you know, of the
postseason with a veteran quarterback. But I think we do
have to give him more time. I think these next
four games are critical for bo Knicks.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
I think so too. I think it's it's a developmental
you know, we're in the developmental phase of bo Nicks
and this this next four will really kind of tell
us where he is and where he's going, you know,
as far as that kind of stuff goes. Love to
see him return to the statistical production that he got
in the Tampa game. Tampa course a little short handed
on defense, missen for their best defensive players, didn't get
much of a pass rush. The Raiders pretty banged up.
(22:06):
I mean, you talk about eleven guys on the on
the practice report. Max Crosby's got a high ankle sprain.
They got a wide receiver about the Adams who's not
gonna play. You got dramas around the head coach. Raiders
feel like it's it's a it's it's high time for
the Broncos to break the streak and uh finally beat
the Las Vegas Raiders, something they've never done since they've
been the Las Vegas Raiders.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Yeah, and as you said, we do not expect Defonte
Adams to play. I don't think Max Crosby is gonna
play high ankle sprain is a serious injury and there's
a lot of season left to play here and I
wouldn't think they'll put him out there on Sunday. And
that makes this team a very beautiful team. Those are
(22:47):
their two best players on each side of the ball.
Their offensive line has not been good. I'm kind of
shocked that they're two and two when you look at them.
How did they windows two games because they don't look
like a team that would be two and two. Beating
the Browns last week surprised me as well. But it
(23:07):
does kind of feel like the wheels are coming off
for the Raiders and the Broncos have to start fast
and a good way to do that man just run
the ball right down the field, get a long drive,
to open that game, score touchdown and get them on
their heels and keep them on their heels, and you
can beat this football team. They are ready to be
(23:28):
beat on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Well, do you think.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
That we've seen the seling for this Broncos defense? Because
the reason I asked that question, everyone's always talking about
the offense, offense, but the highs, the lows, what's going
on with coach Sean Payton and everything. But the defense
really hasn't been put on a pedestal like I believe
that they should. But do you feel is though we've
(23:51):
seen the selling for this defense or is there more
room to grow?
Speaker 4 (23:56):
You know, that's a great question, Nick, And you know
I love this defense. I love the fact that there
are no name defense. You know, this is a blue collar,
bring your lunch to work defense, and they've been doing
that every single week. And I do feel like there's
still an upside because as well as Riley Moss has
been playing, he's gonna just keep getting better week after weeks.
(24:21):
The safeties have really come together in Brandon Jones. Brandon
Jones Pro Football Focus has him the number one rated
safety in the league right now. That's how good he's
been if PJ. Lock has been playing at a really
high level too. I was really pleased to see Justin
ster Nad the way he played last week. I wasn't
(24:41):
quite sure what to expect from him, but he looks
like he is ready to play. You know, they went
out and got two linebackers, and we'll see if they're
going to be active or at least one of them
active on Sunday. I think probably one of them will be.
Both those linebackers they got were good players, you know,
within the last couple of years. I do think there
is an upside. This team has really come together on
(25:03):
defense and Vance Joseph doing a great job. Give DJ
his flowers man. DJ took a lot of heat last year,
especially about this time of the season when Dolphins hung
seventy points on him. Dance Joseph has really turned this
thing around and they have a shot. They have a
legit shot to be a playoff team if this defense
(25:25):
keeps playing at this level.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
Well, Rick, we always know what level we never have
to check as yours. You're always at one hundred with us,
and we appreciate it. We always appreciate getting some time
with you and look forward to here in the call.
I think my man Nick here is going to join
you guys in the boot just a little bit on
this next game.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
You mean, cousin Randall.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Cousin Randall might make it appears, We'll see. I'll see
if I can talk him into it. I don't know,
but yeah, no, I'll look forward to it, Rick, and
look forward to seeing you this weekend and hopefully the
Broncos get on the other side of five hundred and
continue this thing going.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
Yeah, we'll see you guys on Sunday. Thanks for having
me on.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Love you guys, absolutely take care. Reckloss, your color analyst
for the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
Give DJ his flowers, Man Ban's. Joseph has really turned
this thing around, and they have a shot. They have
a legit shot to be a playoff team if this
defense keeps playing at this level.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Shotgun snap five man pressure rush before I than shocked
PJ Locke loss of ten fans, Joseph brought the house.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
Are you gonna be in the booth with them this
weekend for the first half?
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Are you the other other color analyst?
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Yes, I am the other color color analyst.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
That's another other color analysts. Okay, all right, you guys
splitting like, how are you splitting up the the reps there?
Speaker 3 (26:48):
Well, you know, you get you get, you get three
guys in the booth.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
And for me, I'm just a fly on the wall.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
I Am just trying to be a part of the
three amigos and see what happens.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Okay, all right, yes, I said other other color analysts
Shannon over here, I thought he about I thought he
about had a heart attack there five to six, six,
nine zeros. A text line looking forward to Kay's coverage
this Sunday, We got programming starting at eight a m.
All the way up to uh obviously kick off there
(27:23):
around two, So looking forward to that, I think Rick
said a couple of things, and I want to get
into it a little bit later, but one of the
things he pointed out was what do you do if
both struggles the next couple of weeks? You know, if
you're getting close, this team's close and he could win
games and you're wasting a great defense like this, what
do you do if he's still struggling the next two weeks?
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Well, you have to make a tough decision.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
And that made me very difficult for coach Payton because
I know coach Payton was sold on bo Nicks, and
I'm saying that I'm not sold on bow Nicks. But
at that point in the season, and you said your
defense is still one of the top groups in units
in the league, and you know Jared Sidham is there,
you have to consider it. It would be a tough
(28:02):
decision because at that point, I would dare say, you
can't go back to Bowl unless Stidham isn't playing well, right,
Because if Stidham comes in and he's playing well, you
got a roll with him, right and aim, So just
say what if Stidham comes in and he's looking like
Andy Dalton is looking for the Carolina Panthers, you can't
(28:23):
go back, right because at that at that point, it's
not about how you feel, it's about what's best for
the team.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Well, and you're undermind in the locker room at that
point if you're taking, if you're taking the guy who's
giving you the best chance to win off the field,
just to develop a rookie, I mean you, you are
you under mind in the locker room right there, because guys,
guys know.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
They all know, but they do know. And when what
like what Rick said, you don't want to devalue the defense,
and you don't want to. You don't want to waste
their time. You don't want to waste the effort that
they're putting in every single game, even though the Broncos
have been in every single game they have played this season,
even the once a loss, based on how well the
(29:01):
defense was playing from an execution standpoint, both against the
run and the pass, creating turnovers and capitalizing and putting
the offense in position to take advantage of it.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
But the offense has yet to do that.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
Yeah, So if you are seeing that over the next
two games, both games are divisional games, both games you're
dealing with teams who are having issues both from the
quarterback standpoint and regular terer standpoint, that the Broncos could
definitely win and really need to win. If you've seen
struggles with your rigod quarterback, I think it's only right
(29:35):
that you make that decision.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Throw stead them in and see what happens.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
The spark as it were. Boy, Yeah, I mean, I
think I'm in agreement here. You got an excellent chance
to swipe two games in a row here, that'll be
four total back to back you know, wins. Get yourself
to four and two and then heading into a primetime
game in New Orleans where you you know, you could
be up, Like I said, four to two going into
that thing, that's that's huge. And you're catching some Divisi
(30:00):
foes at a time where they've got a little injury,
they've got some offensive problems. You know, you've got the
Herbert's having a little issue, They've they've had some some
issues getting the past game going with Greg Roman's offense. There,
you look at the Raiders there, bang up as all
get out. Gardner Minshew's probably probably playing for his job
at this point. And you know, I mean Zamir White,
they're leading running back or they're starting running back. Got hurt
(30:20):
practice today, so they HiT's just keep on coming for
the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
Well they do.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
And let me make sure I put this out there
for the listeners, because I don't want anyone.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
To think that I'm rooting for Bow not to be
the quarterback. That's not what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
But in the case that his struggles are still there,
you have to kind of make those moves.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
I still believe that Bow has a lot to offer.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Is just making subtle tweaks to the offense to establish
that rhythm right away, and like that's old Rick. I
think it's great that the Broncos have these next.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Two games at home.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Yeah, that's going to bitefit them because you love the
feed off the energy of your own crowd. You've already
shown that you can go in the East Coast and
win two road games.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
If you can now back that up at home, hey man.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Like Juvenile said, they're gonna be backing things up here
here in the Mounta High City and that you begging
it up with a lot of trash talk and a
lot of cheers.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
I think they wish they could back it up a
couple of weeks because you look at Steelers game slip
away from you. You probably shouldn't have, yeah, you know, and
you'd be sitting here three and one, you know, going
dow so there, you know. I think getting back home
that's that's gonna be a big thing. And getting this
rookie settled and comfortable and into an offense that works
for him with some plays that that he knows that
he knows he can go out and execute and rely on,
(31:38):
especially in the third down type situation because.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
You're coming back home to me.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
I think the offense should be sped up, not slowed down, right,
And I know it seems as though, well why would
you suggest that when it just seem as though the
rhythm is off. No, what we've seen the Bowl thus
far this season, he's executed well when he has to
have when he has to make quick decisions. Well, you know,
you're playing in an either hurry up or a two
minute offense where the drop backs got to be quick,
(32:05):
receivers got to hit their mark, office, a lineman had
to do their block, and he had to deliver the ball.
Especially you are playing at home, you want to gas
out the defense. And to me, you go up tempo
first drive to open the gate.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Yeah, I'm with you. And then we've talked about that
quite a bit, getting some tempo to it and trying
to get some pace to it. I think that's probably
a good good thing. You want the game to slow
down for the quarterback, but you can also speed it
up by taking everything out of it, just making him
play on instinct, getting him up in temple and making
him play on instinct.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
We got a break.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
We're live down here at Sam's Number three in Glendale.
Come on out. We got a chance to get qualified.
For Broncos Panthers tickets. I think we have a gift
card still to give away. We've got a few other
items here, plus next shirt. Come come steal next shirt.
We're keeping that thing going. Roby Bean up next to us.
In to Broncos Country tonight
