Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to it Broncos Country tonight. But with all Brian
(00:02):
Dick Ferguson Grant Smith five six six nine zerols text line,
you would get involved in the conversation. Congratulations to uh
Ryan who won the first pair of Great American Beer
Fest tickets, Not Ryan Edwards, he was not eligible for that.
We got another pair to give away though Great American
Beer Fest on October eleventh, with a pair of passes
to the Great American Beer Fest Friday session October eleventh.
(00:24):
It passes at Great American Beer Festival dot comy color
four right now three oh three se one three eighty
five eighty five three h three sem one three eighty
five eighty five and you'll get a pair of passes
the Great American Beer Fest. I was there last year
with Coach Bagona. We were broadcasting live from there. We
may have had a really good time. I think Coach
Pagano had a really goot a very very good time.
Beers didn't tell us one of the beer it was
(00:45):
like thirteen point five percent alcohol away.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
They didn't tell us that. They're like, can give it
all the one on the.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Air half Well, it's called the Great American Beer fest
for a reason.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Yeah, but I mean most beers, you know, you three
to five percent alcohol depending on what you're getting. This
was like triple the alcohol in it, and they don't
tell you that, and then you're drinking it and we're
I mean, we're just sitting there.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
We're throwing these things back.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
And it got to the point by the other show
it was like two guys. It was like two Harry
carries Hi.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
How's it going? Do you have Matt cow or go
from booting?
Speaker 1 (01:16):
It was it got a little while to I'm just saying,
don't dig back to the audio archives.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
It was bad. It was bad radio.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
We are going to do a We're gonna get back
to picking games, which we used to do.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Grants already got the background thing role. I was just
set it up. Grants already got the background music roll
and every anticipating my every move, put a rolling out
of slate. Pick these games. We used to do this
on Friday. We're gonna do it again.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Here I picked the uh the slate of games for
the weekend. Start off with Jets Vikings seven thirty am game.
It's gonna be live in London right now. The line
is Vikings minus to a half. They started out plus four,
(02:01):
the minus two and a half. Now they are the
favorite in this one. Vikings Jets, Nick, what do you think?
I like the Vikings in this one? The Vikings have
been playing well with Sam Donald. Surprisingly, they get Jordan
Addison back. He's scored a touchdown last week. Even though
in that game against the Green Bay Packers, the Packers
(02:22):
came roaring back, but it soon wasn't enough to overtake
the Vikings. And based on what we saw last week,
you know, inclement weather included, but the Jets offense just
seem just a little off. And the way that Brian
Flores and that defense is playing, the Jets are in
some trouble.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
I think so.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Counter point here, if you go to the loving games,
teams that can run the ball and play defense tend
to win these games. Both these teams can play defense,
but running the football has been better for the Jets
and spent for the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I expect a close win in this one.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
I'm probably going with the Vikings on you. Like I said,
I don't know if they cover. I'm probably going with
the Vikings on the win on this one, though, Grant,
what do you have to say.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
I think the Vikings stay perfect five and oh baby
okay rank five and o Viking Dolphins Patriots in the
battle of who could care less the Dolphins getting the
second start for Snoop hot Ley, the Patriots and Jacoby
Brissett hoping to crack.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
I think two hundred ards passing the Dolphins are well.
I was gonna say, you can actually find both these
teams at plus odds if you shop the line hard enough.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Basically I pick them here.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Dolphins are at the Patriots eleven AM game. I don't
like the Dolphins in this one. I like the Patriots
at home in this one.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Yeah, I like the Patriots as well.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
The one thing that we know that the Patriots can
do they can play defense because Romeo former defensive.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Coordinage for the team Karen Herrick, cot head coach.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
When you look at the Miami Dolphins, they both them
and the Patriots are the low's lowest squorantines in the NFL.
So as I look at your face with a hand
on your face, it's gonna be one of those dreadful
type of games, like I can't wait till this game
is over, but I still give the nu too. Jacoby
(04:03):
Brissett and the midle of the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I did two preset Milmandrie Stevens said, I just like
them a little bit. I think they'll be able to
throw the ball a little better. Both these teams played
descent defense. I get the edge of the Patriots a
little bit there. And of course they're at home.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Panthers at the Bears.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Red rifle going against one of his former teams in
the Chicago Bears. The Bears are four point favorites in
this one. Kbler Williams has not exactly gotten off of
the start Bears fans. We're hoping to rid themselves of
the specter of Justin Fields, who, by the ways winning
games with the Steelers right now. Bears four point favorites
in this one at home. Panthers playing pretty well though
(04:38):
at Gerald and Verel's.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Kind of got that defense.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
You're trying to comple it together with some injuries that
they've had on the offensive side of the ball. They
seem to have found a connection between Andy Dalton and
Deontae Johnson.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
What do you think about this one?
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Even with everything that you said, the Panthers are still
one in three, right.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
They got a couple of jardful guys.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Yeah, banged up, But last week we saw DeAndre Swift
actually show up for the first time for the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
And when you talk about.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Playing your former team, you gotta think that Dj Moore
is licking his chot to say I want to get
back because they traded me and Caleb Williams. To his credit,
he's starting to play and a lot better than he
was at the beginning of the season. And Keenan Allen
should be back for that game too as well. So
I'm literally heavily towards the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Okay, the Panthers certainly have had more offense since they've
had Andy Dalton out there. The defense, which was good
in the first two weeks, has been kind of combled
together the last last two weeks. Get up twenty two
and thirty four points. It has not been as good
the Bears, you know, to find a way to cut
it out against the Rams. They found a way to
beat Tennessee. They found ways to sort of beat teams.
It lost by six when they were at Houston. They
(05:49):
just haven't been able to win on the road, but
they haven't been able to win at home.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
I'm gonna go ahead and go with the Bears. The
Bears on this one. We've got Colts at Jaguars. I've
talked about this extensively.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Jacks with their backs against the wall here, Jags three
point favorites at home. Colts look like they're gonna be
starting Joe Flacco in this one. I like the Colts
in this one. The Jags have just been on a spiral.
There's rumors that Peterson has lost the locker room. We'll
see if they can rally around. Win one for the Gipper,
But the way that the reports have been leaking out
of Jacksonville, I've got no faith in that team at
(06:21):
this point.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
I can't put anything pass Joey but a.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Flacko, right, we get a joy but a few reference.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Yes, they can't put anything past him because every time
he comes in. He did it with Cleveland, he's doing it.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Now with the Colts.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
It's like the guy knows how to win, he knows
how to play that back up position, because at this
end of his.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Career, no one's.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Expecting too much from him, and he delivers on it
every single time. And we're talking about a Jags team
that's owing for They're feeling sorry for themselves and this
could be another win for Joy but a Flacot.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
I'm wacko for.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
Flacoh grant Hey, age does age is just a number
for Flacco.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
I think they went again this week. Ride the Flacco
train as long as you can is Joe Flacco elite.
That was like a thing. It was like a meme
on the internet.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
Rydy Big I were talking about it earlier this week.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Still hagging around, Still find a way for backup quarterback
at this stage.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Of his career. Yeah, and he does. He finds ways
to you know, to keep you in win Gifts.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Bills at Texans, Oh yeah, sends are a one point favorite,
and this one Bill's reeling off the slacking they got
by the Baltimore Ravens. I like Buffalo in this one.
Although this could be the Stefan Diggs revenge game. You
gotta figure he wants to go out and put it
to his former team. Nico Collins came out and said,
we got to win one for him. I like the
Bills in this one.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
What say you no, I'm going with the Texans, not
even though my former teammate Tamiko Ryans is trying to
downplay the storylines. But you and I both know you
really can't downplay those storylines. Consider in fact that Stefan
Diggs lost last week to the Minnesota Vikings. He wants
to go out and have a great showing against his
former team, Buffalo Bill's who some feel as though Diggs
(08:07):
was a diva and the team. You know, in the
first three weeks of the season, the.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Bills were playing well without him. No no, no, no no.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
See they came down the earth last week against the
Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
But I'm gonna give it to c J.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Stroud in the Houston Texans, and the guy who really
hasn't got into the offensive rhythm is take down, So
this could be a big game for him.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
If this game was in Buffalo, I'd take the Bills,
but since it's in Houston, I'm taking the Texans.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
I see you guys betting against Josh Allen over there.
Both of you are, dude, you're getting a Dell. Guys
thinking they can take Dell's going to research huh.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Okay, we'll see. We'll see how that goes. Ravens taking
on the Bengals.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Ravens and Cincinnati coming off that same shallaking we just
talked about. They look like they've finally gotten Derek Henry
comfortable in the offense and the way they want to
do things next time they.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Get Park Andrews involved.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
That's sort of been a question thus far this season,
Lamar Jackson not throwing for as much, but not needing
to throw for as much.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
With Derek Henry doing what he's doing. What do you
guys think about.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Ravens at Grant Smith's Begals.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Well, the idea is that Joe Burrow and the Bengals
have struggled a little, and I think Jamar Chase holding
out that chemistry that he typically has with Joe Burrow
has been slowly coming along, but you can still see
the remnants that is there. But this is the divisional game,
and this is what I call the Black and Blue Division,
and no one is though Baltimore won a game, not
(09:31):
Lamar throwing the ball and running the ball himself, but
just turning around handing it off to Derrick Henry. I
see something where Hey, Todd Monk and saying, look, we're
gonna roll out in the same game plan. Thist's just
run it blood in their nose until they actually stop it.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
So I'm real lit with Baltimore.
Speaker 6 (09:47):
Two words today and the Blowfish. Look, the Baltimore Ravens
are the number one rushing football team and their number
one against the run. Cincinnati has not been able to
run the ball at all this year, twenty third in rushings,
Moss three point nine to carry only two touchdowns. They've
they've been leading on Joe Burrow to do this, and
if you can't find some balance, defense is going to
te you off on Joe Burrow in that offensive line.
(10:08):
I like the Ravens in this one, personally, sorry for you.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Grant Brown's at Commanders, the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Man, you look at that offense. They are high.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
They got no defense right now. They're gonna have to
call him and Quinn because there's no d coming right now.
But you look at that offense and it has been
absolutely gangbusters going on. And I look, I did not
expect Jade Daniels to be this good, this fast, but
he's finding a way to succeed with his arm, with
his legs.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
The run game's a little banged up with Brian Robinson.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Eckler's gonna be back for this one. We'll see how
that goes Brown's back against the wall. Deshaun Watsons look terrible.
They haven't been able to get the run game rowing,
except with with Ford. I'm worried about the Browns. I
got a great defense, but they're wasting it right now.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
I definitely agree with you on the Browns having some
issues offensively and you're thinking with the Mary Cooper, Jerry
Judy and Deshaun Watson, the offense will look a lot brighter,
but it doesn't. But as far as the command and
dan Quinn conserve, yeah, I mean the Washington football teams they.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Are susceptible on the ground, but they did a great.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Job last week against Kyler Murray holding the Cards to
one hundred and fifteen yard total offense.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
I mean, you really don't do that in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
That often, and that was against a rushing quarterback.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
And then you're facing another.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Potential rushing quarterback in DeShawn Watson this week. But everything
falls on the shoulders a day. Jane dais the young quarterback.
He has four rushing touchdowns this season, puts him in
the category with Cam Newton and Anthony Richister, so he
could have another rushing touchdown this week.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Yeah, he's something else and it's gonna be fun to watch. Interestingly,
the Browns probably dial up more pressure than Jane Daniels
is used to. It's gonna be interesting to see how
he handles that as well with that front four in
the way that they do things. But I like Washington
in this one.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
Yeah, I think they keep it, keep the train rolling.
The offense has been good all year long.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
They're gonna fit.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
They start to figure out the defense last week and
the Browns offenses look so bad. Give me the Commanders Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
At Niners nine ers seven and a half point favorites.
I like the Niners at home and this one not
much needs to be said there.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Yeah, I mean, no Christan McCaffrey, no worries you had
Jordan Mason, you know, former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, see
by your hat and just rep repping that. But there's
something always it thinks you were about Brod Purdy and
his chemistry with George Cattle and Kyle Shanahan and de
bo is now coming into fullam. I mean they got
(12:32):
Jennings involved with the offense.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
He's casting more passes than Brendan. I you who has
a higher big account than he had.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
They Yeah, they went out there and paide Ayuk and
then they got Jennings looking like Randy Moss out there.
Speaker 5 (12:43):
Yes, I like the Cardinals to surprise if Kyler Burry's
gonna light them up on the road.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Spicy Giants at the Seahawks six and a half point favorites.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
I'm on the Seahawks. There, no nothing really nice.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the Seahawks on that one because
the Giants they don't look that great.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
This years are the Giants. Yes, they're going to win.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
It's a tutology, but it works. Packers at the Rams.
This one a little interesting to me. Rat Packer's three
point favorites on the road. Jordan Love still feeling a
little bit. But Christian Watson probably out in this one.
But this looks like a game I think the Packers
can win on the road.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
I definitely think that the Packers win this game. And
it's odd because Mala Florida, head coach for the Green
Bay Packers, once upon a time was an offensive coordinator
on to Sean McVay with the Rams. So the East
defense you're seeing what you're going to see on Sunday
in practice, but I'm going to give the nod to
(13:36):
the Green Bay Packers because even though Jordan Love was
banged up last week, he almost mounted a sensation would
come back against Sam Donald and the Minnesota Bike And
so I'm gonna go with the Packers in.
Speaker 5 (13:48):
This one, unlike Ben I Love Love, Yes, and I'm
going with Jordan Love and the Packers to get this
up fair enough.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Cowboys on the Road to Steelers. Steelers two and a
half point favorites.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
I like Dallas to give the Steelers something that they've
been missing, an offensive showdown.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Well, it may prove.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
To be someone of an offensive showdown because I know
Dak Prescott can actually move the ball down the field
and the Steelers offense have stalled at times. But on
a defensive side for the Dallas Cowboys, no Mike or Parson,
so that's gonna hurt them, especially if Justice Fields is
running around making plays with his feet.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
DeMarcus Lawrence also out right, I believe so yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
And that means Pittsburgh wins the game. No, I don't
think so really right?
Speaker 4 (14:31):
Right?
Speaker 3 (14:31):
Right? De Marcus Lawrence is not playing, Michael Parson isn't
playing on the dispensive side, and these are your two
Marquie edge rushers, and both you and been are going.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
With the Steelers. Cowboys swam over the Cowboys. Cowboys win
this game. I mean the Dallas Cowboys and that Saints.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Monday Night Saints taking on the Kansas City Chiefs. Saints
started hot, but the last couple of games not ben
as hot. Chiefs another team that's sort of had a
blood bath in terms of all the injuries an attrition
that they've had.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Chiefs five and a half point favorites. I like Chiefs
at home.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Yeah, as much as I would love to go against
this one.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
I was just gonna say the same. I mean, it's
Patrick Mahomes, they're at home. The Saints can.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
They must have the same amount of offense they were
to start a season. Probably not, and Andy Reid, even
with g Rice being out, They're gonna find a.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Way to win games. So I'm just gonna go with
the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
Yeah, Xavier Worthy is the X factor for that team,
and he's gonna be the next big deal wide receiver
in the NFL. In my opinion, I wish I could
pick the Saints, but I'm going with the Chiefs at home.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
I saved Raiders Broncos for last. Raiders at the Broncos
two five kick, Broncos favored by three at home. Sixty
nine percent of bets on the Raiders in this one.
It's sixty percent of money on the Broncos. I tell
you all the sharp betters are on the Broncos in
this one. I like the Broncos in their defense and
if they can stick with the run game to wear
down Oakland and beat them.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Well, I'm gonna stick with the Broncos on this one.
I'm hoping that both nix an offense can score more
than twenty one points in this game. It's a really
showcase the deficiencies of the Raiders. If not, guess what,
you still have the defense you can lean on.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
So I'm gonna go to the Broncos in this one.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
Broncos win. It's Alumni weekend. The vibes are gonna be high.
Nick ferg is gonna be in the booth, the streak
is gonna be snapped, and.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
The Broncos are gonna win. We're gonna have to get
Nick Fergin in the booth every week. If that's the case.
Snaps the streak. I'm just saying it's it. You know,
we can't have the jinx.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
We had a break, we come back. Vine Bonceignior is
gonna join us, talk about those Raiders. You listen to
Broncos Country tonight. Welcome back to it, Broncos Country Tonight.
Benjamin Olbrighten, Nick Ferguson, Grant Smith here with you. Five
six syx nine zeros of text and we go right
off the KA compsper the hotline, the all bring on
a good buddy, Vinnie bun Signori go behind it.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
We lat's talk about the Las Vegas.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Raiders coming to town, Broncos having auspicious streak against the
Las Vegas Raiders and that they've actually never beaten them,
and they are sincerely hoping here in a retro throwback
weekend where they're rolling out the nineteen seventies tribute uniforms
that has the shirt on right now, that they'll be
able to do that.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Vinie, what are the odds.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
One of the odds of the Broncos breaking that streak? Uh,
probably pretty decent. I would say, you know, the Raiders
are kind of a middling team right now, trying to
figure themselves out. Obviously, we've got the DeVante Adams Adams
situation going on in Las Vegas. Antonio Piers is trying
to hold things together. Gardner Minshew hasn't necessarily distinguished himself
(17:29):
as a new quarterback a walking wounded team. So this
could this could be a team that a Raiders team
that's right for the taking for the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Vinny is interesting that you say is right for the
taking because I've been trying to let fans here know that.
But everything that's going on with the Raiders right now,
this is still very pride team. Antonio Peers is one
of the better motivating coaches in the league.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
And I've labeled this game as.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
A trap game for the Broncos and from you, the
boots on the ground, do you view it in that
same way? And as there is a chance, if there
is a chance that the Raiders could have set the
Broncos at home.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Yeah, I mean, I don't know if that would necessarily
rank as the biggest as an upset. You know, it
feels like the Broncos are I wouldn't say struggling just
as much as the Raiders are, but I feel like,
you know, the Raiders being eight no against them in
the last eight matchups. You know they they they finished
ahead of them in the standards. I feel like they
(18:29):
have a more better quarterback, more secure quarterback right now,
that doesn't say all that much, you know, with women
being gardner Minshu and but I would also say that
the Raiders are no business being anybody's trap game. You know,
this isn't you know, a team that you should be
I guess overlooking, But it's also a team that you
know isn't going to sneak up on anybody necessarily. They
(18:52):
kind of are what they are. I look at this
Raiders team and they've got to check off so many
different boxes to be competitive on a weekly basis. And
anytime they dB eight from any of those boxes, a
couple of those boxes if they go unchecked, why they
did again the Carolina Panthers in the Carolina Panthers game
is totally within reasons for the Raiders. So it's one
(19:13):
of those teams right now that I don't quite have
my finger on it, other than saying that they're a
pretty good team, not a great team, and they're susceptible
to a roller coaster ride depending on the week, depending
on the opponent, and depending on what mental capacity they
approach you him.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
With, well, yeah, you talked about the injuries, and that's
certainly a part of it. Max Crosby listed as questionable.
Obviously a big part of what it is they do
on defense.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
But where is where is this team? Uh?
Speaker 1 (19:41):
In terms of the vision of what Antonio Pierce wants
it to become. Pierce hired off the interim UH the
interim tag and and made as the head coach.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
They bring in Gardner Minshew, they bringing Luke Getzi is
the OC.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
UH.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
The defense, I can understand it taking a step back
with Acrossby. With the offense, it just doesn't seem like
it's clicking.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
There's a mere.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
White who ended the season, doesn't look like the same guy.
Fact Madison looks like the better running back. What what's
going on with the offense here?
Speaker 4 (20:05):
Yeah? I think you know you've got you had to
flux at the offensive line. You've got some injuries now
at the offensive line. Jackson Powers Johnson, they're really good
young guard from from Oregon.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
UH.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Finally got on the field on a full time basis
against the Cleveland Browns on Sonny and made a difference.
But you've also lost your right tackle, Thayer Muntford and
now at DJ Glads and Ricky from from Maryland who's
in there. Calton Miller has been up and down in
terms of the health and I still think that he's
he's still rounding in the form from the shoulder surgery
(20:40):
that he had. Now he's dealing with a knee injury. Offensively,
they haven't been able to really create the identity that
that they want with the a strong running game, that's
what Antonio Piers wants to hang his hat on. But
they've had issues on the offensive line, and like said,
Sama White has struggled in a new zone scheme that
lucats He brought over. He's more of a power back.
So now they'vey ship back to Alexander Madison. But the
(21:02):
reality is they don't have their quarterback. You know, this
is a year where they're going to try to make
the best of what they have with Gardner Minshew and
or Aidan O'Connell. But if you're talking about the real
vision for Antonio Pearce, I think he spelled it out
during the off season when he said, I want to
stop having stop gap quarterbacks with the Raiders. That's not
(21:22):
getting the Raiders anywhere. Low and Behold they have a
stop gap quarterback. Why, well, they won a couple of
games that in retrospect they probably wish they would have
bought last year. That left him at the thirteenth pick
in the NFL Draft. They were way too far out
of being able to trade up to one, two or
three to get Jayden Daniels, who they had their eye on.
(21:45):
Not to say that Washington would have ever traded out
of that spot, but at least they would have been
closer had they finished with the record that wasn't a
little bit deceiving winning some meaningless games down the stretch.
But until they get that quarterback in place, they're going
to be right where they are, which is a pretty
good team. You know, a team that if they do
check off all those boxes, can maybe make a playoff run,
(22:07):
but in reality is probably a six to eight win team.
That roller coaster, that ride that I talked about, And
I know that as soon as this season ends, no
matter what happens, they're going to be back in the
quarterback business. Well, we'll see where they are in the draft,
We'll see what kind of free agents might be available,
or trade possibilities might be available. But really they're kind
(22:28):
of spinning their wheels until they get that quarterback.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
So, no DeVante Adams in this game due to a hamstring,
But you guys still have some very talented wide receivers
in trade Tucker and DJ Turner. How could these young,
speedy receivers impact the game on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Yeah, And that's kind of thing. They do have some
pretty darn good skilled players. You got to throw rock
Powers in there as well. Phobe Myers. Chucker, you know,
looks like somebody that I think has a bright future,
and not having DeVante Adams on the field, I think
open brings up a little bit more for him in
terms of the touches. You know, every time you go
into a game with the DeVante Adams and no matter
(23:04):
how many times coaches or a quarterback wants to shy
away from this reality, but the reality is you go
into every game going to we got to get seventeen twelve,
thirteen touches a game, and sometimes it can feel a
little bit forced. Last week was the first week since
DeVante Adams showed up where just felt more natural, It
felt more organic, and the flow was a lot better.
(23:26):
Trey Tucker was a big part of that, and I
think that the more if they approached games like that
without having this big spectrum of an offensive focal point
out there on the field, they're able to freely now
just get guys touches, take advantage of the favorable matchup
on a play to play basis, and Trey Tucker plays
into that. He's a guy that they want to start
breaking of hunger, you know, routes longer patterns. But in
(23:50):
the meantime, you know, and they want to get to
that eventually. Part of that's the opposisne doing their job
and Gardner Mans who's standing in the pocket and throwing
it downfield. But in the meantime, Jay Deckers is the guy.
Is a guy that could run fly sweeps, run screens,
run intermediate and medium, you know, routes ball in his
anelam do think from a speech perspective, but I think
(24:10):
he's got a bright future.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
We're talking again with Vinie bon Signori Vidy. On the
defensive side, Max Crosby's the edge that makes this thing go.
And I've I've a long been a fan of Nate
Hobbs there in the slot as well. But what else
on these defense should Broncos fans have their eye on
because I think a lot of the guys, I mean
Christi wil because you know who he and Tyrey wilsonar.
But beyond that, a lot of these guys are not
necessarily names household names to a lot of Roncos fans.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
No they aren't. But but they've had a lot of good,
solid football players. Ben Jacory and Bennett started the season
last year as a rookie, had some injuries, you know,
struggled a little bit, but he's he's come back in
a second year and really done a really good job
opposite Jack Jones. Jack Jones is a little bit of
a wild card at times. You don't necessarily know what
(24:56):
what you're gonna get. But he's a playmaker and he's
got the ability to to pick one up and take
it to the house at any moment when he's when
he's right mentally and engaged, he has a chance to
be one of the better cornerbacks in the league. But
it's still a struggle for him to be playing and
play out dialed in the way he needs to be.
Chevan Merrek a nice young safety from you were just
(25:19):
mentioning TCU, that's where he went. Isaiah Polamalu has replaced
Marcus EPs, who's down for the season with a knee injury.
Isaiah's a nice football player from UFC and Robert Spoyane
a linebacker that kind of flew under the radar in
Tennessee and Pittsburgh kind of through no fault of his own.
He was just behind some really good linebackers in both
(25:39):
of those locations. The Raiders picked him up, and I
know a lot of fans like, who's that. Well, he's
come in and been one of the hearts and soul
of this defense. Just a really good football player who's
finally got his opportunity to start, and he's definitely run
with that opportunity.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
So we're heading into Week five and there's like a
four games sample size of bo Nicks.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
Last week was that great?
Speaker 3 (26:00):
But what's the overall stands and take on Boone Knicks
as a quarterback?
Speaker 4 (26:05):
Yeah, I mean, I think that the Raiders obviously respect
Sean Payton and uh and they were you know, they
they dabbled in the Bone Knicks world without question. You know,
somebody that they had on their radar and took a
pretty deep look into. So I think they know the player.
Uh and and you know out of respect. They know
that there's at any moment a rookie like that can
(26:26):
break out, you know, and maybe this is the week,
and that's what they don't want to have happened, obviously,
But but they respect him and I think that they
know that he's got a seemingly bright future. It's just
going to take time. But as we've seen with rookie quarterbacks,
it could be this week where all of a sudden
they have, you know, their breakout game. Now, maybe they
might they fall back to earth a week after that,
(26:48):
you know, and and startle like like rookie quarterbacks normally do.
But I think that's the thing that the Raiders want
to avoid is is bo Nick's having a breakout game.
And I think one of the ways that they want
to try to do that is stop the run. The
Broncos they've gone over one hundred yards twice in the
last two games of the season. They've won both of
those games. When they don't hit one hundred yards rushing,
(27:08):
they've lost, you know, both of those games. So and
the Raiders have struggled, you know, in run defense. So
that's going to be a priority on Sunday for them.
Stop the rum try to make Roncos as one dimensional
as possible. Patrick Kurham try to dial up some creative
things to mix bot Nix up a little bit.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
Tell with Vinybond Signori reporter at the Las Vegas Review
Journal and of course the NFL insider at LAAM five seventy.
Then he let's let's talk about this DeVante Adams stuff.
Obviously he once out the trade request all that kind
of stuff. I've been hearing two teams, the Saints and
the Jets. Obviously those would be obvious given the two
quarterbacks or guys that he would want to play with.
Is there anybody else involved here? Are the Saints even
seriously involved? Or is Adams really engineering this thing to
(27:48):
try to go to the Jets.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
Yeah, I don't know that he's engineering anything. I think
there's a cluster of teams that he would be interested
in going to, and he's going to respect also, you know,
the the Raiders. I think the relationship overall, it's a
little bit it's a little bit disconnected between he and
Antonio Pierce. I think he and the organization are on
(28:10):
fairly good terms. So I think you know, he's gonna understand.
He does understand that the Raiders are gonna do what's
best for them. But I also don't think that they're
going to stick it to him. They'll probably get him
to a place that that that he likes. But I
don't know if you want to read anything in the
social media posts. DeVante Adams did post on his Instagram
(28:30):
page a big photo of Edgar Allan Poe, who wrote
the Ravens the Ravens. Maybe you know, I know, I
know DeVante is the next level troll when he wants
to engage. Maybe that's what he's doing. But I guess
don't rule out the Ravens at this point. Considering the
Edgar Allen Poe reference that made well, I just.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Thought he was a big fan of the cask of Amontlado,
so I didn't you know, I don't really know what's
going on exactly.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
We're all trying to interpret that, but I mean, I
think we're gonna I think we're gonna roll with the
Ravens connection.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
Well, you know, what's something that's of conversation.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
Because obviously this time the year, you look at teams
who are not doing well, and we also look at
the trade deadline, and I know much other times players
are not traded within the division. Do you ever see
a case where, you know, Antonio appears and this thing
is just so toxic with Devinete Adams that he is
possibly traded to a team within the division, all one
(29:27):
being the Kansas City Chiefs or the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
Yeah, you know, I wouldn't roll it out, but I
would I would probably uh uh, you know, preface that
by saying, if it's the Broncos, if it's the Chargers,
if it's the if it's again the Chiefs of all teams,
they better come correct. Probably, you know, it would have
to be something where that offer is just so compelling
(29:51):
compared to every other offer that the Raiders would be
compelled to take that trade where it would be like
a no brainer, like you know, if you get interested
what else was being offered and then what they offered.
We had to make this trade for the for you know,
the good of this organization. Will the Chiefs make that
kind of an offer with the Broncos make that kind
of an offer? I get that remains to be seen,
(30:13):
but I wouldn't roll it out under those under those
under that area, all right.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Many the Raiders win this game if what the Broncos
win this game.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
If what I think the Raiders win this game. If
if they if they clamp down on the run, if
they forced a couple of turnovers from bow Nick, and
I think brock Powers have to have a big game.
I'm talking seven eight catches for for over one hundred
yards for brock Powers.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Okay, wow, that's uh yeah, And I well love what
Bowers has done so far, but that would be uh.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
I think Vet's Joseph defenses are known to be a
little weak against the tight end. So we'll see if
that uh, we'll see if that does happen.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
Vinie.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
We always appreciate your time, man, and looking forward to
seeing you here in a couple of days.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
All right, take care, guys, We'll see in Denver.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Absolutely, brother, many buns in yours.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
Las Vegas Review Journal Ham five to seventy there in
Las Vegas. One of my favorite people, Vidy, and I
that it's funny every story. I think that of my
favorite people starts like this at Vinie and I got
off on the wrong foot when we first started thanks
to Twitter, and Vini was out there covering at the time,
hesing Los Angeles, covering the Rams, and the relocation stuff
and all that, and that was kind of the story.
One of the stories that put me on the map
(31:18):
was was covering that relocation stuff and breaking which way
it was going to go and all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
And I guess we both kind of had.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Rival sources a little bit on that and uh, you know,
a little healthy competition. I guess we sort of got
off on the wrong foot. And then later on at
Vinie's the best. He's one of the best people out there.
And I encourage you guys. I know he covers the Raiders,
but if you want raider's info, that's the guy to
go to.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
That's very interesting because you say, well, you guys started
off on the wrong foot, but now you are great friends.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
I would you say that?
Speaker 1 (31:49):
Yeah, I mean great acquaintance, you know, I mean a
friend is a tough word for me. I have very
few friend for you know, I keep that circle pretty tight.
But great acquaintances.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
What's wrong with you? I'm a live in person. The
fact that I haven't friends don't don't seem like it's
in your vocabulary.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
I'm a hermit man. God, I do I have very
tight sirre. I consider you guys my friends, but I
have a very tight circle of friends. I don't know.
There's not a lot of people that I I put
but Vinnie is a person I respect very much, and
I would say that he's a very friendly We always
have a good time whenever we see each other wherever
that is, with's a combine or you know, raiders, broncos whatever.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
See, okay, respect.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
See that is something that I can get with because
in life and especially in this business, there's not a
lot of people you might respect fair, so that that goes.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
I respect Viney. He's a very good reporter. And that's
show you're not too far going as I thought. Yeah, No,
I'm not. I'm not. I'm not just like the white
blanket over.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
I think it's funny, but I'm not like actually like
a real life wet blanket.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
I'm just I'm just I'm just trying to check out
and make sure, yes.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
Exactly, because you think that you know someone and then
you find out something and you go, you know what,
I thought, I knew that, But.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
A lot of it's it's interesting.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
I mean, not that we need to get into my
life or anything, but it's interesting that a lot of
the acquaintances that I have.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
I'm here, I'm here for I'm here for. Doctor Ferr
just just pulled up right down on the couch. Pin.
Let's talk about it. Yeah and see, okay, let me
put a pin in that real quick. I was gonna
go with a Dennis Miller style joke on the Edgar.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Allan Poe thing rather than the cask of malolto was
going to go with. I thought that all of a sudden,
Devontae Adams was coming out as an anti did Act.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
But I didn't think anyone would get.
Speaker 5 (33:22):
That Didness Miller in the Monday Night Football Book pretty much.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
That's why we went with the Castle of Mala Lotto sin.
This is better than anyway.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
A lot of those stories of my good acquaintances in
this indust though, start off like that, like we got
to do a bad we got off on the wrong
foot on Twitter, and then we met in real life.
We're like, oh crap, this is a really cool person,
you know, And so that's that's one of those things.
It's interesting. I always caution everybody, not everything you see
on social media is real life. In fact, a lot
of what you see on social media is not real life.
And I think the people that think they know me
(33:49):
from Twitter versus the people that know me in real
life have wildly different opinions.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
So anyway, for whatever that's worth, we come back. We'll
talk a little bit about.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Calvin Booth, Coach Malone, the Denver Nuggets get the first
preseason under the under the belt.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Today.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
We're gonna see what you do like which you saw
against these the celt Is it Celtics or Celtics about
to ask coach Pagano.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
We'll do that through the break. Broncos Country Tonight
