Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well go to it.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Broncos Country Tonight, Benjamin Albright, Nick Ferguson, Michael Cooper back
there behind the glass.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Did you get a haircut? Just picked it? Did you?
I mean, did you like straight razor?

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
I personally didn't do that. Oh okay, I didn't know
if you barber did. Okay, you had your barber shave
it or whatever. Okay, all right.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
I was like, that is the that is the tightest
I've ever seen the coover dome. I just I just
noticed that. Yeah, wow, I got a haircut. I'm getting
hair cut tomorrow morning. But I, like I was looking
at it. I was like, man, that is the that
is the that is the tight He's gone full on
like hoove going like.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
He's what he needs to do now.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
He needs to grow the beard out, you know, like
grow the grow the long beard out like that.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
That'd be a negative. I didn't see that happening.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
He would look wildly different like I would. You wouldn't,
reckon an. You want everyone to grow a beard? Is
it because I can't? If I can't grow a beard,
that I want all the other people to grow that
can grow beards, to not rub it in my face.
That they could and are opting not to so, so
that means you have like beard envy. Yes, I very
much have beard envy.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
So when I had my beard, would you Okay, well,
how come you never telling me?

Speaker 3 (01:01):
I did tell you this. I'm still telling you this.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
You know you were like, man, that's a nice little
I said it was a luxurious main Do you think
that meant?

Speaker 3 (01:09):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
There's only there's only two things I've referred to, two
instances of hair I have ever referred to as luxurious,
and that was your beard at Cat William's Hairs.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Got some good hair. Yeah, it's like flat irons. You know,
whatever's going on there? Five six six nine zero.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
The text I Big Show tonight, Nick Cosmider from the
Athletic going to join us in the third hour, Nick,
I wanted to talk to you and a chanced to
react to you. Yet as you were being a vip
down of Horizon yesterday with the Hobnomen with the afternoon
Drive folks.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Robert Salah fired.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
By the New York Jets in what was somewhat of
a surprise move.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
While the team I don't think you can blame the
defense for.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
The losses what do you think of this Robert Sala firing?
And they've they've moved Jeff Albritch into the interim head
coaching role.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Albridge is going to do a great job because he's been.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
On the track to be a coach somebody who's getting
artificially elevated.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
And he's had an opportunity.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
When you go back to the Senior Bowl, he was
actually the head coach for that particular the group, so
he's got his first taste of it and it was
very interesting.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
But we're looking at the Roba Sala situation.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
It was so interesting for me because there were so
many things going on with that Jets team that wasn't
Robat Sala. But but usually how these things work, they
always topped the top.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
But from what I'm hearing as to how it transpired,
that is another thing. Huh, Now, correct me if from wrong.
What I'm hearing is that he was kind of escorted out.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
That happened as well by a security It's not given
the opportunity to address the team. And I'm thinking, okay,
a couple of things here.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
In corporate America, usually that's how employees, former employees.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Exit the building and on a Friday. Usually get fired
on a Friday, right now, Tuesday? Right right? Right?

Speaker 1 (03:16):
I know that all too well, but yeah, I digress.
But anyway, I found it rather interesting the way that
rob A. Sala was treated. Right, you don't escort him
out of the building, and you don't know, you didn't
allow him to address the team.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
So I'm calling foul. I smell something I dropped.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
I dropped some knowledge last night because I've talked to
some people with pretty pretty intimate knowledge on this, and basically,
as as I understand it, Robert Sala was getting ready
to replace Nate Hackett's play calling him but not fire him,
but remove his play calling.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Well, technically speaking, that is a fire. He would have
still been.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Employed by the Jets, just not the offensive coordinator. Yes,
that's a reassigned a demotion, right, demotion, not fire.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
That means that you fired from the technically yeah, but
he still would have been employed by the Jets.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Put to this way, he was not removing Hackett from
the team, but Robert Sala was going to demote Nate
Hackett to He would still be a title O C,
but he would not be the play caller. Todd Downy
was going to be promoted to.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Can we can we be you know, honest about what
we're doing here?

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Technically speaking, I mean a thing of Hackett was never
really the offensive coordinator when you really think about it.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
I mean, it's Aaron Rodgers, right, And then I'll get
to that. I'll get to that a second. But anyway,
so Robert Sala had decided he was going to do that.
He calls h Joe Douglas up up there in the
front office. He's like, Okay, we're gonna make this change.
I'm gonna announce that, and then five minutes later gets
a call from Woodie Johnson to report to his office
and is summarily fired.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
And we all know whose buddy Nate Hackett is. Yep.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
And while he's on McAfee denying it today, it certainly
wouldn't be the first time Rogers has lied about something.
He lied about being vaccinated multiple times. He certainly has
no issue with not telling the truth whatsoever. It certainly
does make it seem like that's Aaron Rodgers' team, and
any coach there is is there, you know, in a

(05:16):
figure ahead type role.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Okay, now you tell me what you think about this,
because there's always controversy in ten four hat theory. Now
there is a photo of Robert Sala on the sideline
in London with a Lebanese flag.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
That's for Heritage month. He's done that before. This is
not the first time. I don't know why everybody suddenly
picked up on that, but this is not the first
He's done.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
This for years. And once again, that was because parents
are liberties, right.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
That was kind of the conversation that was taking place
amongst a couple of guys who I was talking about,
well what about the flag. I was just like, well,
what does that have to do with anything? And I said,
I'm like talking to these individuals, like, are you saying
now these things have moved from being football related now
being political.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Well, it would be illegal if they fired him for that, right.
They would absolutely be illegal to fire him based on
a heritage That.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Was my point talking to the individuals that I was
talking to. But I say, well, let's keep it more
about sports, because I think Whatody Johnson spoke to Aaron Rodgers,
so was it disclosed?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
I think it was two things. Okay.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
My personal belief is I believe Aaron Rodgers loyalty to
Nathaniel Hackett superseded everything. And I believe Woody Johnson was
already predisposed to do this because he got embarrassed in
front of his friends in London. Woody Johnson was an
ambassador to the United kingd and has a lot of
friends over there. They were at the game with him,
and he got embarrassed by by the Jets performance and

(06:39):
Robert Salah again after the Denver loss and then coming
back to the Minnesota loss, he was embarrassed.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Wait wait, wait, wait, wait, Okay, I can understand being
amongst friends and feeling embarrassed, but the last time, might
check in the past two games between the Denver Broncos
and the Minnesota Vikings, I don't recall Robinson throw interceptions.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
I don't recall interception.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
I don't reg the last three games combined, they've given
up what twenty nine points something like that, twenty six
points the Jets defense.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Yeah, I mean, that's like taking out your frustration. So
let's on the wrong person, right, So let's even assume
that the Bucks stuff.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Let's let's play a game here. Let's let's assume that
the buck stops with the head coach. Right, Even if
you think that it is Robert Saliz fault. And there's
some weird portion of Jets fandom that for some reason
does and has forgotten that the Adam Gaise era even existed.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
I'll get into that in a minute. How does this
solve anything?

Speaker 2 (07:34):
The offense is the problem and making Jeff Ulbridge the
intern head coach, disrupting your defense, which is the one
thing that's working.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Nothing.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
It doesn't fix anything, and it takes a guy out
of a position he was doing well. Jeff Olbridge was
a defensive coordinator and moves him to something else. It
takes the one thing that was working and disrupts it
and doesn't do anything to the actual problem for the
New York Jets.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
For me in this situation, I think demoting the thing
a Hackett would have been the right thing to do.
I know, their individuals here in Broncos country just driving
around like they should have known that before they even
hided them. But if it's the same thing, I mean,
you hire Hackett with the idea that you're going to
get a piece of Aaron Rodgers witch, the Jets actually
have a piece of Aaron Rodgers and their hopes, their dreams,

(08:18):
their playoffs, the Super Bowl idea was hinging on how
well Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
Was going to play. But if you're going to fire.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Robert Sala, then that means that you might as well
keep the door open and usher Joe Douglas anything you
hacket to show them the door too as well, because
like you were kind of alluded to, you haven't really
changed the problem.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
You haven't really changed the problem.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Yeah, you certainly haven't resolved it, and you didn't. And
what you did was introduced a new variable to something
that was working.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
You know, the defense was working for the Jets. It's
been working.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
So I don't again, I look at this and I
don't understand the timing of it. Woody Johnson got out
there and said, this is something I've contemplated for a while.
I was contemplating last year. Well, then pull the trigger
in the off season. Five weeks into a season where
you're all in and you get.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Five We're not talking about like week not.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Yeah, five weeks into a season where you're by the
way one one one one Greg Zerline missed field goal
and one errant throwaway from being four and one. Maybe
they hit that field goal and you know, against the
Broncos and they win that game. They missed that field
goal and they had to throwaway. Yeah, you're you're you're
two plays away from being four and one. Like I
just again, I don't understand. You've you've lived in this

(09:38):
New York market, you played for that football team.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Is there a culture problem there?

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Well, we're just we're talking about New York City. So
culture problem, yes, yes, the.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Question it is.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
And New York fans, man, they are feisty, they're impatient,
they are angry, and they're passionate. Yeah, and I can
understand the level of passionate. But sometimes and we've seen
that happen here in Broncos Country, where passion overtakes logic

(10:12):
and it forced people to say things that it's like,
what the hell are you saying? So New York as
a city, New York as a media, it's a tough place.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
It's not a place for every.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Single person or athlete, and it's a cutthroat business.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
They're coming at you no matter what.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
And watching the Giants win Super Bowls with Eli Manning
that only made the situation worse for the New York
Jets because the last time the Jets were in a
relevant game where they won a title. Jo Wilie Naman
was playing against the Baltimore Colts and Don Shula, and he.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Guaranteed a win with with this. I don't know what.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Chill, but whatever it was, but that was the last
time and Aaron was supposed to be the savior after
Zach Wilson was supposed to be the savior. And that
fan base, like the Broncos fan base, they are thirsty,
they're starving for someone to emerge as a leader to
take them to new heights. But the only difference is

(11:22):
this media isn't like that media. It's entirely different. Man,
It's entirely different. But I don't think that this situation
was done the proper way. I worked with Robert Soler,
working for him, working under him as assistant dB coach
in San Francisco, and when I heard that he was

(11:44):
escorted out, I was like, man, that's got to be
so embarrassing to have security escort you out.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Supposedly that's the protocol for the Jets, but Adam Gase
was not done that and was given the opportunity to
address the team on the way out.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Once again, for me, there was something else brewing. Now
I know Aaron has come out to kind of debunk
the idea that he had anything to do with it.
But I go back to the It was a Thursday
night football game. We were at Sam's Number three, and
we saw the Jets a just score. Aaron came off
the field and Robert who is That's who he is. Yeah,

(12:21):
he's a hugger. He's a player's coach, right, so he
wants to embrace the emotional dude, Yes he is, and
damn Rogers think his hand in his chest.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
It's like giving him the quizzical look and like no
you know, and all that kind of stuff. And I'm like, yeah,
there's trouble in paradise here. Well I manifest itself. Now
we'll get into more of that a little bit later.
You see bo Nick's instagram. Ferris Bueller.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
I did not see it, but I heard it because
at the postgame presser he said that he had seen
the movie.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
And I was like, he hadn't seen the movie.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Because if he had seen the movie, he would have
thrown out a quick scene right away.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
But he didn't.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
He he had pr or somebody put together a whole
video thing and it was you know that, And then
highlights from the last week and all that kind of stuff,
and it went pretty viral. Fans seemed to dig it,
and they seem to lean into that whole Bueller thing
because Sean Payton made the Ferris Bueller comment that he
made the Bueller cut, you know, so, and I yeah,
I wouldn't have expected someone as young ast bon Nicks
to have seen Ferris Bueller's day off, but you know,

(13:23):
he claims to have, so you know, see, as far
as that goes, I just didn't know if you'd seen
it or not in kind of seen the fan base
sort of love that he leaned into it, you know,
and that's that's good for him to kind of show
that side because he's kind of been all business guy
since he's been here.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
I love the fact that Bo leaned into it. I
love the fact of Bo's response on the sideline because
you want to see the fire and the passion from
your young players who know that it meant something. And
I'll tell you this man playing for the Denver Broncos,
we would come back on flights and let's say after

(14:00):
or loss, there were some guys who I mean, they
laughing and they part in talking about what they're gonna
do later on that night, and I'm sitting in my
in my chair, in my seat, I'm frustrated.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
Yeah, now I want to go do something, but I don't.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
I don't want to do anything to break the team ruse,
because it's like, well, how much does winning mean to you?

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Right? Do you really care about what's going on?

Speaker 1 (14:23):
And for me, what I saw from Bo, both those
you know you mentioning on social media and what I
saw on Sunday, it means something to him. And I
have respect for Bo. I know you and Alfred have
your own viewpoints of BO, but I have my respect
for him.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
And it just went up.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Several levels seeing him lean into it and just kind
of making light of the situation.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
Yeah, I mean, I don't dislike but I love I
like Bow just fine. I thought it was fun those
goods fund for him to.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
Lean into it.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
I'm with you on the you know, woofing on the sidelines.
Now we've we've been over that. I mean, I don't
have any issues with that whatsoever. I think Shot Peyton
likes it when the you know, when they get back,
you know, give it back to him the way that
he does it. So I don't I don't have any
issues there, you know, as far as that kind of
stuff goes. We've had some some QB changes also around
the league. Drake May the rookie gonna get his first start.

(15:16):
I kind of scratched my head a little bit when
I saw that, because I was like, really, you're gonna
roll him out there against Houston to start. That's probably
not the direction I would have gone. I would have
probably found something a little easier, uh than.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Death by a thousand people, death by oh my god,
what about?

Speaker 2 (15:30):
You know, Yeah, that's not you know, it's not the
direction that I It's not the direction I would have gone.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
And then the Raiders make it official.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
They they've switched to Aiden O'Connell, Benching Gardner Minshew.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
Now here's the thing.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
I was one of them whether that was going to
happen after the game, because I know Antonio appears and
said later on in the week that there's going to
be a quarterback competition.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
They just scrapped it.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
And I can help but think that, well, ain't O'Connell
send the Denver Bronco defense a gift basket because they
essentially helped, you know, yeah, they insert him back into
the lineup.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
They did and it was you know, we had Vinnie
on what Friday? Yeah, I guess it was who said that.
You know, Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew were duke. You know,
Gardner was playing for his job at that point, and
you know, after a couple of interceptions, I think they
they'd kind of had enough they made the switch. It
was It was interesting because Aidan O'Connell was the guy
that got I mean, he wasn't the guy that got

(16:26):
Antonio Pierce the job, but he was the quarterback who
kind of helped get Antonio Pierce the job, you know.
I mean he was the quarterback of that team, and
then they summarily benched him to go out free agency
and go get Gardner Minshew, who you know, I didn't
play appreciably better than what O'Connell played last year, So
I guess they're pivoting back to O'Connor. We'll see what
he can do and who knows how that's gonna look.

(16:48):
And then Spencer Rattler will be the starter in Derek
Carr's place. Yeah, while he's out, probably gonna be out
for that Thursday night game as well, So the Broncos
might be catching a little bit of a break here
going on the road Orleans and catching Spencer Ratler.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Might be better, might be worse.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Well, Okay, I watched Spencer Rattler in the preseason, and
I get it, it's only the preseason.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Well, we saw Bonicks in the preseason two and I
would love for that kind of rea.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Okay, truth, but Spencer Rattler made some plays both with
his arm and his legs. And look, he was at Oklahoma,
transfer to South Carolina, and when he was at Oklahoma,
everyone was thinking, okay, well maybe he would be a
top draft pick, and he kind of slipped a little,
but he still showed a little of that first round

(17:33):
draft pick flair. So hopefully the Broncos are not looking
ahead of the Chargers looking towards that Saints game, but
they need to be prepared because Spencer Rattler he can
make plays. Now, going back to the situation with the
Raiders really quickly, I felt that it would have been
best served for the Raiders to stick with Aidan O'Connell
as their quarterback and then going out and trying to

(17:56):
fine tune their offense with more pieces, because when they
led third.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
And rentfro Go, I was like, what are you doing?

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Yeah, I mean that guy was, I mean at tandem
to DeVante Adams. So look, it worked out great for
the Broncos. They're gonna have to play the Raiders again.
But now all the tensions shift to the Chargers.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
That it does, and we'll get a chance to preview
that here coming up next, Guys who listen to Broncos Country, like,
right your own kaaway, welcome back to it Broncos Country tonight.

(18:50):
Benjamin ol Bright, Nick Fergus and Michael coover here with you.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Nick, you said London Bridge might be fallen down.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Yeah, it just seemed like some teams who are in
struggling positions, it's like they take the trip over to
the UK and then someone gets fired on the way back.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
They in the UK. It's back cargo playing get back
how you can.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Because when I think about it, okay, what Robert Salam's fired,
Joe Philbin has been fired, Dennis Allen has been fired.
Now I'm thinking the game this Sunday, Octoba thirteen.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
These are two guys that were fired from from that
because obviously sounds still that goes.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Right, But you know, the idea was that when you
look at the game Sunday. You got the Bears playing
the Jags. Could Doug Peterson be the latest victim.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
I would not be surprised at all, because if it
were me and I had any inkland that I could
be fired.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
There was some whispers. Man, when I go to London,
I'm going all lot. Yeah, like I just party the
whole time.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
I'm leaning it out in the stream. I'm now, we're
not even showing up the coach.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
I mean, I'm clearly hungover on the sideline.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Who cares at that point?

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Because you're gonna fire me anyway, So I might as
well take it to trip.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Okay, bring the family over, Yeah, you know, grandparents. Yeah,
just just just do it up. They have them sit
next to the owner of the whole time, just to
make it awkward. Yes, just make it make it up.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
And so as soon as the final whistle blows and
the seconds tick off the clock, I'm not even saying
your hands, I'm just just out.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Yeah, like bo Jackson went through the tunnel, just.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Like Forrest Gump, just keep on running, keep on running.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
I think part of that, I think there's truthful you're saying.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
But I think part of that is because usually you
get a bye week after you come back from London.
So it just makes it an opportune time for teams
to fire people. And it's a long trip, right, It's
a line. I'll tell you this.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Nate Hackett would have been on that list if the
Broncos lost that game. It iss j Justinville.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
If the Broncos loss, If Nate Haggett looked that he
would have been fired after they game.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
So if if I'm a coach, and obviously the schedule
comes out obviously before any games playing. But what I'm
just saying, if I'm a struggling team and i know that, hey,
the London game is coming up.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
I'm checking my six. Yes, yes, I'm I'm checking my six.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
But I'm making sure that I'm prepared that that even
though I get fired, I'm getting something.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Out of trip.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Oh, I'm absolutely stealing all the the team paraphernalia.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
What do you mean clothes? I'm loaded up, I got
I got trunks full of it.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
You won't have to steal it. Then I'm saying, they
give you some of it, but like I'm just taking it.
I'm taking extra, extra extra, Okay, I'm not. I'm not
saying I'm running up the credit card like that employee
that's in jail now, and you know, the watches, it's like,
get the company carry That guy was like the most
spectacularly bad gambler of all time. Like if you get

(21:58):
because they've got breakdowns now. The mon that he spent
on stuff. Yeah, he bought some vacations and watches and
all that kind of stuff. He spends so much money.
That's the case of so much on these websites like.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
These some of us. Some are smart, but some are stupid.
It's like they want to be caught.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Yeah, it's like catch me the best, the best, I
think the best ones that you have the key and
peel sketch or the guy they're trying to rob the
bank or whatever.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
He's like, here, hold on, let me let him cook.
So here's what we do.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
We go in there and we work for them right
and after and then they just give us the money
and after thirty years we walk out like nothing ever happened.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
Man, that's a job that was How did the old time?
Was like I was like, that's yeah, you know what
that is. That's that one friend And she's like, oh,
hold up, let him cook. But I think there's something
to that about the lood into the angle there, and
I think that is it makes it easier for whatever reason,
because you got the bye week and extra time for
the new guy to transition into whatever he's doing.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
All that kind of stuff I do. And you mentioned
there are guys I should have like fire. Doug Peterson
could be you know, it could be. I mean he
could be framed Flambroyl like a whopper right now.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Yes, yes, definitely.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Because the Jags are one and four right now, they
don't they don't look the same and Master I mean,
Trevor Lawrence look great, Travis etn look great now, I know,
no Evan Ingram because he's been injured. Maybe that has
a factor with what they're doing. Like they got they
got rid of like uh Gotway Yannick and Gotway and

(23:32):
he was a hell of an edge rusher for them.
But sometimes this whole idea where teams get too big
for their bridges, this too, I'm too big to fail
Papa mentality.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
And maybe that's what happened to Doug Peterson and the Jags.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
And Trent Balky. I mean, here's their GM, right that
may have something to do with it.

Speaker 3 (23:50):
As well.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
So I'm gonna keep a sharp eye on that game
because I do believe that Chicago is gonna win that game.
But I want to see if Doug Peterson is going
to get him is pink slip. Obviously they don't do
it right after the game, because could you imagine being
fired and you have to travel on the plane in
for first class for like thirteen hours that.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Fl like know when you're fired and all that kind
of stuff. Yeah, the the Jacks have been bad this year,
the bottom third of the league and scoring the only
average nineteen point four points a game. They're the third
worst defense in the league, allowing twenty eight points six
points a game. And yeah, you're up against the Bears
team who's playing really good defense. I mean they're fifth
in the league and points allowed at least, only allowing seventeen,

(24:34):
in the middle of the pack in terms of the offense.
But Caleb Williams started to get on track a little
bit last week. I would not be surprised at all
to see the next firing b Doug Peterson coming back
coming back from London.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
They just I wouldn't want to go.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
I got a cold, I'm standing back, I'm standing back,
I put my handstring.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Well, it's just so like our boss, Dave Tepper's, he's
got this philosophy that he says that he's like, I
want to make sure that anybody whoever has bad news,
they're getting the news before the butt ever hits the
chair in my office, you know, and they called it.
So anytime he calls me, and I sprinked in there
and slammed down on the chair as quickly as I
can up, you can't get me of bad news.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Now, well, I mean that's not going as soft as
stop is going to stop anything.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
No, it's it's not.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
It's just the fact that you're going about your day
and then all of a sudden you get a text
or a call, Hey, could you drop by.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
My office for a minute. It's similar, yes, the turk.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
It's similar to knowing the cut down day is coming, yep,
and having someone other than the turk because you had
already identified.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
The You already identify the turk.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
So but it's like a trainer comes, so you can go, Hey,
coach wants to see you.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
I can't get the memo. Man, Hey, as long as
you don't show up, they can't cut you can't cut
you just keep dancing around it.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
My phone was off, Yeah, phone was obviously, man, I
had a cold, A battery died.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
I guess I make the fifty three now. Yes, I
don't think that would tell you.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
That would If that works, it would create the game,
the greatest game of.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Hide and seek out of all time.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Yes, it's like if they don't technically tell you that
you're fired, you're really not fired because no.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
One told you. Nobody told me how fired? Like okay,
still clears.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
Yes, if someone they said you your swipe card, it
still works.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Well, unless you're Jamal Adams, in.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
Which case one of the greatest memes of old time
is born. Oh there like looking swiping a card, looking confused,
like it's insufficient, man, And that's the thing like around here,
like that's it, you know, because we got the key
cars and get the build or whatever. There was one
day I think I was coming in as Dave was

(26:45):
back when Dave and Rick and Kathy used to the
afternoon showing, and they were walking out of walking in,
and uh, I was.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
I swiped a card. It didn't work, And I swiped
it again, it didn't work.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
And Dave was like, oh, you got a meeting upstairs.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Say no, man, no, those are words that you don't
want to hear. Like to put it in a form
of dating really quickly. It's it's as if you were
married or you had a girlfriend of you know, a
couple of months or whatever years and out of the blue,
she says this to you, we need to talk.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
I just go ahead and rent to you haul right
there in there. I just I just run right over,
rent to you haul right there and there we gotta
talk about I'm already there.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
You don't know what she said she had to talk about.
Don't matter. You can say that she's pregnant. We know,
you know, we as a man, you know.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
And and somebody, when was the last time we know
we need to talk.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
Had some positive happened after it? Somebody tell me, don't cool,
you've been married what about seventeen years? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (27:48):
Has there ever been a moment where she was like, honey,
we need to talk and something positive occurred after that? No, okay,
see arrest by case.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
We need to talk. I just go running U haul
right then and there. Just you're not even gonna hear
her out already, know you just I just started lifting.
Start putting stuff in the mood. I just I'm already.
You just started taping. I'm already.

Speaker 5 (28:12):
I got the little I got the little little gun
with the stick, with the table, yeah, oh yeah, like
the fold the box lids. Yeah, I'm just throwing stuff
in there, just throwing it labeled it, just throw it
all in the same place.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
I hear the words, and I'm heading down to the
basement because that's where I'm sleeping.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Wait a minute.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
As soon as she say it, says we need to talk,
you just going to the basement.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Well no, I I hear her out, but I know
where where it's where it's gonna end. See, you know
we need to do. Say, I'm going straight into the basement.
Let's hear out Dave O'Brien. See what he has to
say if we need to talk. YEA love it. I

(29:08):
love it.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Welcome back to it Broncos Country tonight. Benjamin all Bright,
Nick Fergus and Michael Cooper back there producing. Nick, I
think I solved the most pressing and urgent matter facing
Broncos Country today. Really I think I did. I think
earlier today I solved the most pressing issue in Broncos Country.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Okay, First of all, let's talk about what do you
figure it to be the most pressing issue?

Speaker 3 (29:43):
A nickname for Riley Moss? What of all things?

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Of all things that I was worried that I was
worried that I was done. I was worried that I
was never going to be able to top Casa Bonito
for Nick Benito.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
So you think you've topped it? I did.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
Our friend super Bowling on Twitter put out that picture
of it's the White Men Can't Jump but with Patser
Tan and Riley Moss as as Wesley Snipes and Woody
Harrelson on there, and looking at that photo, I became inspired.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Already got a nickname. Well, see, that's a deadly thing
for you to become me. He inspired was always a
bad yes.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
But PS two has already got a nickname PS two right,
And I was.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Like, why not lean it? Lean into the video game motif?
What did you name him? Like?

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Uh, x Moss three sixty PS two at x Moss
three sixty.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
X Moss three sixty. Yes, it works. It's a little wordy,
but it works. I mean it doesn't really roll off
the tongue that quickly. Well, it could just be x
Moss like the Xbox. Yes, how about that? Just do
that PS two and x Moss. Okay, well there you go.
You could call the secondary game stop. Get you know what,

(31:03):
face a love it.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
It was because I was processing game stop, looking at
all the defensive pieces in the secondary and trying to compute,
like does that make sense?

Speaker 3 (31:17):
That doesn't really make sense. I mean, look, it could work.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
It could work because this is exactly what they're doing
right that they are stopping. I'm just saying from scoring.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
I'm just saying, yes, I don't know, like you know,
after PS two and XMS, I don't know, you know,
j qy McGill is gonna have to change his name
to like Nintendo Switch or something.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
But see, now you've started something, so now you have
to go through the entire segment.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
So we're saying, and yes, so PJ Lot what you
got the dual shock controllers? We can call him dual Lot. Okay,
I got nothing for Brandon Jones. I'll just preempt you
right now. I got nothing for Brandon Jones. I had nothing.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
I sat there for.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Hours today like, man, I could get all the way
around the roster with this, and then what am I
gonna do with Brandon Jones.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
I think if we give it enough time, I believe
that you will figure it out.

Speaker 2 (32:04):
I'll come up with something. This is what I'm gonna
spend my nights on. Yes, not anything productive, not improving
this show, not new sales, you know, not not not
critiquing myself and making myself better.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
It's coming up with a nickname for Brandon. And it's
X Moss one. What x moss, XMS three sixty or
x my any of that. I think x Moss one.
But he doesn't need to change his number one.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Then you know he doesn't have to Why he does
have one in the digit is twenty one, right, so
so one, okay, x Moss one, All.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
Right, Well then there you go. But the X Moss
thing that was, that was where I went with it.
PS two at X Moss game stop.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
I'm just saying, okay, I mean, it doesn't sound sound
like No Fly Zone.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
It doesn't. It's got a ring of his own, though
it does.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
There's there's other parallels too, because their stock is up,
stock is up, game stop, stock is up. You'll know
the game stop. Well, yeah, it's like a thing. There's
like a whole coming to AMC Stock thing game stop
is the same, you know, so yeah, well I think
that more or.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
Less with the game stole. Wouldn't that kind of equate
to the entire defense though?

Speaker 2 (33:15):
Yeah, I mean that's that's what you that's what you
need to probably probably do. Figure out, figure out some
way to well.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
If you're gonna go that far, you have that dance
this thing.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
Now, you need to get a nickname for Advance Joseph
because he is in control of the defense, so he
therefore would.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
Need call him the joystick because he's in control and
he's having the time of his life.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
No, see, joystick would be reserved for that. Yes, it does.
I mean it's just like we call him the.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Controller because you know, I don't know what was a
guy from the matrix, the architect.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
There you go, the architect. But Advance doesn't talk like that.
You don't have to talk that way. Do you ever
see the Will Ferrell like making fun of that? Because no, yes,
that was for for like the MTV Movie Awards or
whatever awards. That was. It was awesome.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
Look, I don't know, I'm sitting around, so let you
guys five six, six times zero, let me know what
you think.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Wait a minute, since you you're going with this whole
video game title, those who create the video games, they
are programmers, right, digital programmers.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Call them the programmer. Yeah, we go all right, all right?
I like that a little bit better for frovance than
the architect. That feels like we're stealing from from the
matrix A little bit programmer, Okay, called the programmer.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
There has to be another nerdy name for it. Thought
call something. We got plenty of time. We got plenty
of time to think this out during the break. We
got plenty of time. I'm just saying. Ex Moss one
Chargers preview. Up next, Broncos Country tonight
