Speaker 1 (00:00):
We are out here live at a Great American beer fest,
and Nick, I gotta say you, this is your first
Great American beer fest, isn't it?
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (00:08):
It is.
Speaker 4 (00:08):
Uh. It's very interesting when you first walk in because
it's like the light side and the dark side. Because
when you first walk in, I was like, when the
hell am I? Because it was dark?
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Yeah, the lights were off all that kind of stuff,
and then you gotta walk around the lights are on
over here, all this kind of stuff. Last year I
was out here with with Coach McGonnell.
Speaker 5 (00:27):
Yes, we may have a vibed a little too much.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Well, we'll definitely is that what you're calling it?
Speaker 5 (00:34):
Well, we'll pace ourselves tonight.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
I'm having a light shine Helly's Lager right now, Chris
Clean and Golden. You know we got we got the
Boosed mobile tent right over here. We've got the apparently
the Mormon drinking team tent right over here as well.
Speaker 5 (00:49):
I didn't know that was a thing. We had to
go over there check that.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Ati.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
When you pointed that out to me, I was wondering,
is that kind of some kind of drinking optacle where
they stack cups or whatever? I still don't really know.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Yeah, all I know is there's merchandise over there. But
we were having fun out here. And if you guys
want to swing by the Kway ten, I think we
still got some.
Speaker 5 (01:08):
Some upper stickers, some coosies to give away. Just come
say hi to us. If you don't have passes.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
To the Great American Beer Festival, I can solve that
for you one pair of Great American Beer Fest tickets.
You can win a pair of passes to the Great
American Beer Fest for the.
Speaker 5 (01:22):
Saturday session this weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Passes are available at the Great American Beer Festival dot
com or by calling three all three someone three eighty
five eighty five. That's three LL three seOne three eighty
five eighty five color five right now gets a pair
of passes to the Great American Beer Fest Saturday session.
Nick might have had to have a few beers if
you're Robert Solom given what happened. And now we find
out today that Jeff Ulbridge went ahead and promoted Todd
(01:46):
Downing Anyway to the play caller for the Jets.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Yeah, it just kind of makes this situation more interesting
with the Jets knowing as though this is something Robert
Salad was going to do anyway, So I don't know
Jets owners Woody Johnson decided that heading into week six,
knowing as though you are right there in the hunt,
right behind the Miami Dolphins to make this move, and
(02:11):
the move that you made was exact same move that
Robert Salam was gonna make. So if I'm a player
sitting in that room, I'm a little confused.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Now.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
Earlier today there was a tweet by Sauce Gardner which
he immediately deleted, but basically would have been saying, man,
you know, look, here's a lot of value that came
from being around Robert Salad.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
This is me paraphrasing, and that he.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Learned so much and he helped him so much as
a young defensive player being around Robert Sala. And I
would like to think as a head coach, your job
is very difficult. So as management you would think, I
don't know this, but just me thinking out loud, you
would go to some of your marquee players and ask
(02:59):
their opinions. Now, Woody Johnson did say that he did
speak to Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Rogers said obviously what he.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
Said had nothing to do with the firing of Robasala,
but I would think that you also talked to some
of your defensive leaders to see what they thought.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Yeah, so I'm really confused and baffled by the situation.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
I am, But Jeff Ulbrich the new head coach, and
Todd downing, we'll take over play calling.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Todd has not exactly been the world's most successful offensive
coordinator if you've ever seen his offenses with the Raiders
or Titans.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
One thing I.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
Will say was with the Titans, they did convert really
well in the red zone. They just never got there.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
So with this particular move, this is simply the motion
for the thing you hack it, not just a removal
of title and play calling do right. So that means
as though the Jets are staving off the inevitable, which
they should have done if they were going to, I
guess change the guard sort of say, if you were
(03:57):
getting rid of Robert Sala and just decided to get
rid of Nathaniel Hackett as well.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah, I mean, they're finding out that he's not the
world's greatest play cooler. I could have given you a
year's worth of tape that you could have figured that
out on your own, But you know that's a jetsow
carese My six six NIGHTSS text on you guys will
give all the conversation we got Thursday night football tonight
San Francisco forty nine Ers at the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 5 (04:19):
The Seahawks have.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Found a way to kind of steimy Kyle shan hit
of the Pete Carroll era.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
But now we've got Michael McDonald. He doesn't want to
sing background on this one.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
What do you think about the Seahawks and the San
Francisco forty nine Ers tonight.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Row It's not gonna be Doode Brothers tonight of Seattle.
They have some injuries in their secondary which would allow
Kyle Shanahan and Brought Purty to definitely take advantage all that.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
And once again, both of.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
These teams are trying to prevent losing back to back
games right now. Last week both teams to play games
where they were projected to actually be winners, but they
actually lost. And if you were to ask who is
this game more important to the Seahawks or the forty
nine ers, I would dare say the forty nine ers
(05:10):
because ever said it's that we found out the calf
injury from Christian McCaffrey. Kind of was upgraded to an
achilles injury.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
It seemed like everything.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Changed for the forty nine ers as far as home
they operated, and I know Jordan Mason, Georgia, Ted Grad,
he's come in and he's performed handsomely, but the offense
seemed to be a little off kilter.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Just a little bit, a little bit they've had they've
had some issues here, but we have seen the emergency
of some players.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
You mentioned Jordan Mason, you had what's.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
His name, Jawan Jennings, who all of a sudden looks
Grandy Moss out there, who's.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
All my fantasy team, Well, there you go is.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
All of a sudden, he just looks absolutely phenomenal out there,
you know, playing with Brandon Ayuk at Deebo Samuel and
getting him get him some reps.
Speaker 5 (05:57):
I think the Niners gonna win this one.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
I know it's on the road, but Kyle Shanahan, if
Pete Carroll had the answer for him, I'm not sure
that Michael McDonald does. We'll see, but I think it's
I think it's a bigger game for the Niners. Say
they're reeling. They've had two collapses where they've had leads
of the second half I think they need to write
the ship here before they get Questian McCaffrey back here in.
Speaker 5 (06:17):
A couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
And so I really do believe this is a bigger
game for the Niners than it is for the Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Yeah, it is.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
And when you look at the Niners, you when you
compare both teams and you're asking yourself which team has
the better of the skilled players, I would have to
lean heavily on the San Francisco forty nine ers, even
though Kidd Walker, hey man, he's not a spouts at all, right,
But when you look at the tight end position, you're
(06:44):
talking about George Kittle right to no offense, you look
at DK metcalf right. When you start to compare those
wide receivers and skilled players, you have to give the
nod to San Francisco forty nine Ers. And then when
you think about sheer play calling, responsible ability, Kyle is
one of the better play callers in this league.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
I've been around his dad, I've been around Kyle.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
Kyle works tiresly trying to put things together. And the
one thing I love about Kyle for me, he's not
your standard head coach turn former opposite coordinator to turn
head coach. Kyle is engaged with every aspect of the games,
special teams, defense. He would be in our meetings all
the time wanting to know what this guy's doing, and
(07:29):
he has a full understanding of that.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
But and you know for being you know, from working
as an assistant on a staff, you know how Kyle
has to cross train guys too. You're a defensive coach,
but he wants to cross train you with the offense
as well. Kyle wants to make sure all of his
coaches are well routed and can understand football for both
sides of the ball.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
Well, speaking of which, this is why when I was there,
you know, Bobby Sloyd was on the defensive side of
the ball, right, and then after I left, he was
kind of fast tracked on the opposite side of the ball.
So there's a person who knows both both sides and
think about right. Raheem Morris, you know, coach of the Talkins. Yeah,
I mean he started off like when I was with
the New York Jets, he was a debascuse. I mean
(08:06):
I think what well know, he was a minority intern
right at that time. And then obviously he's gone on
to coach wide receivers and he knows both sides of
the ball.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
So Cole does a great job of doing just that.
And he kind of got that from his father.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
So the players are always going to be well coached.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
But then it comes.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Down to how well can they execute their responsibilities.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
So they can and that is uh and that is
a big part of I think how he prepares one
of the great things that he does to prepare guys
for life in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
Congratulations to Brian Wood who.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Won the Saturday Great American Beer Fest passes.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
I hope you will enjoy them. We've certainly seen a
lot of interesting costumes go by.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
We had an astronaut go by a minute ago. We
got a pair of male nuns walking up on us.
Now you're gonna get the bagpipers rolling by, So if
it gets a little loud, I apologize for that investment.
I can just see the bagpipe marching band a little
while ago.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
Well, well, first of all, you you forgot the most
interesting part. We saw a guy walk by with Benjamin
Albright special jacket.
Speaker 5 (09:09):
Oh these silver yes jacket.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Yes, that thing was shining.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
I was trying to lure that guy back career.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
So we could knock him out and steal the tech,
and we were unsuccessful in our efforts as we had
no beer to give. Uh So, if you guys want
to come on out and say hi, Nick and I
are are here on location at the Great American Beer Fest.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
Really joy ourselves. We're gonna have some interviews with a
couple of the come the brothers. I think we're gonna
have a shilling citer a little bit later. So here
in Nevada, gonna swing by for a minute. This is
just me hoping to get free samples. But I'm I'm
manifesting right now just a minute.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
Are these just two guys dressed as cops.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Or are these real cops?
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Those are real police officers, as I found out earlier
when I tried to run.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
Okay, those tasers are real. I just wanted to make.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Sure because he's seeing people in constant right.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
Seriously, Hey, are you guys real cops?
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Yeah, those tasers.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
Are working tasers.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Is that you know?
Speaker 5 (10:05):
Don't taste me, broy. A lot of a lot of
stuff going on here, it really is. It really is
a fun time, you know.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Ever, even if you're not a big beer drink and
they got great food trucks out here. They got some
some fun stuff with the kids. It looks like I
don't think you could be a kid and get in here.
But they got fun stuff for the kids over there,
little football, little mini football area or whatever.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
Maybe they'll turn that into it, don't you.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
I don't think that's that.
Speaker 4 (10:26):
That's it's when you first look at it, do you
think it's for kids? But I think it's kind of
the test of people after they had a certain amount
of beverages.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
It's just the same ball.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Can you actually throw? Yeah where you are visually we had.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
A guy out here throwing a football.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Earlier.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
I was running, you know, trying to run a couple
of rountes.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
We could have had, We could have had a little
h If we can get the back out here, we'll
see if we'll see if we can get that five six,
six times.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
There is a text line Brian.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Wants to know if the Colorado Avalanche are a paper tiger.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Are they a paper tiger?
Speaker 4 (11:00):
You know what they may be based on what's happening
with the team at this particular moment, because obviously when
we think about the Avalanche, we think about Nathan McKinnon,
Dave Blendis Gott all of these top players, but the
Abs haven't really been there, and I think is the
mistique of what the Abs were the year.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
They won Lor Stanley's Cup. That's kind of carrying them forward.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Well, yeah, you're looking last night, it certainly wasn't a
good defensive outing quite, you know, at all. As far
as that kind of stuff goes, I think, uh, uh,
we definitely are gonna have to improve there. The offensive output,
you know, looked all right in most nights that would
have been a good enough offense to be able to win.
Speaker 5 (11:39):
But uh, they're gonna the Apps are gonna have to
have to tighten.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Things up on d if they're gonna be a competitive
this year.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Well, what is the interesting thing about the baseball season?
The NHL season, uh, and the NBA season.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Those a long season.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
So it really doesn't make a difference how you start out,
even though some of the true novice or no novice,
but the individuals who are die hard fans, they may
be a little upset at first, but knowing as though
it gives.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
The aves a nuggets.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
Well, in the case of the Rockies, I would love
to say that, but that hasn't come to fruition, but
you get what I'm saying. The idea is that maybe
something would happen down the road where the chemistry would
be there. And and you know with the Avs, they
got a lot of young faces that that's a little different.
They may take them a little while and coach Bandnar
for them to get on the same page.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
I think that's the big thing. You get a lot
of youth on that team.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
It's it's the first month of the season is really
going to be a youth movement before they get a couple.
Speaker 5 (12:43):
Of those veterans back. As as time goes on. You
got the suspension to Algefushian, you got uh uh, you
got injuries to uh.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
I think the I think the biggest question is will
Gate Linscott play decision?
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Will will it happened? Because he hasn't played in two
seasons and and you know when you think.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
About LeVar Ball who has the same injury, and guess what,
he hasn't played in two years.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Yeah, he's starting to make the comeback.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
So I think as fans are gonna be really looking
forward to see how that's gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Yeah, we got some ghostbusters, we do.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
We got Ghostbusters here, we got a we got an
Octoberfest serving wench over there. Uh they they Yeah, the
costumes are out. It's it's definitely near Halloween here at
the Great America ban They get some they get to
leave this. They got the shooters and everything. I know
this is that's an attention to detail. I'm love with
the I'm love with the Ghostbusters. H I love the
Ghostbusters costumes there five six.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
Six nights zero is the text time. We got Rick
Lewis gonna join us in the next segment.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
I'm gonna see how jealous he is that we're out
here at the Great American Beer Fest.
Speaker 5 (13:40):
You know, he wishes uh he were out here as well.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
You know, Nick, We've got the Chargers coming up on
uh Sunday, and we haven't i mean, we talked a
little bit about it last night, but we.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
Haven't really gotten into that.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
We'll get into that top of the air about seven o'clock.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
We got Rick Lewis In the next segment.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
We get uh the US here in Nevada Brewers coming
up after the traffic breaking the next segment.
Speaker 5 (14:03):
So a pretty pack show for you.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
We're hoping to uh hoping to get to that Charger's
break down their top of the hour grant back there
at a michig control, I could barely hear him. So
if if he's act back there saying anything.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
Uh, you know, I don't want to.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
I'm trying to put my earbuffs int here so I
can actually hear a little bit better.
Speaker 5 (14:22):
One of the things that I think that fans have
been interested in, and I'm getting a lot of Uh.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
I'm getting a lot of questions about is Audric Estimate
and Estimate has been back in practice, how he's got
a factor into the rotation, uh, and what that's gonna
mean for both him and Jamonte Williams.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
Do you think that Audrick Estimate gets much run this week?
Speaker 3 (14:40):
If any?
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (14:41):
And in my personal opinion that he would probably be
better served getting a few carries, but really being safe
putting bubble wrap for the Thursday night game against the
Saints where you're gonna want fresh bodies.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
No, if he is able to go, you want to
deploy in because here's what this means, and this goes
back to my time being around both Mike and Kyle.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
If you have a stable.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
Of running backs, you want to utilize him because each
one of those backs have a unique skill set, and
when you think about Algic Estimate, you go back to
watching him at Notre Dame. He is a big body
guy and normally you don't think about him having that
second level speed where he can break it away from guys.
But he has shown that he has those capabilities. So
(15:23):
if you if he's healthy, you want to have him
involved in a game plan because now you can usejlil
McLoughlin on the edge of the once a defense is
soften up. Now he could be the guy who can
strike with the home run play and then you just
beat him up with Estimate and Javonte Williams now as
I say that, I don't want the situation to turn
(15:44):
into something where now Defonte's carries are now diminished. I'm
not suggesting that if you use Estimate as a complimentary piece,
Dare I say shortyardist.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Go lay down, short line third and short that kind
of stuff.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
Yeah, I'm with you on that. I think you want
to get.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Estimate a few touches to get it back in the
swing of things, and then maybe give him a little heavier.
Speaker 5 (16:06):
Dose on Thursday, and you know when you're.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
You're coming off a short week and fresh bodies are
you know, in short supply.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Well, that's the thing, because he's gonna be a little
he's going to be fresh, But also you just don't
want to wear him down considering the fact that he's coming.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Back off of injury.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
So it's about spot duties, but being really strategic where
you deploy him and how you deploy them, because what
you don't want to do is you don't want to
disrupt any of the flow that has been established over
the past couple of weeks with your offensive line because
the running backs got to get into a groove, and
those guys are front, they get into a groove as
(16:46):
well because they have to have a sense and the
feel for the guy who's.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
Running the ball that they do.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
We're getting into a groove.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Here at the Great American Beer Fest. We gotta hit
a break, we come back. Rick Lewis, color commentator for
Dever Broncos gonna join us, just come through night.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
I can't wait say at.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
The AM what I M news Sports bringing on one
of the voices of the Broncos, your color analyst, Rick Lewis, Now,
Rick guy, I understand you. You split a booth for
the first half last week with my fellow host here,
Nick Ferguson, how would you grade his time in the booth?
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Oh, zeez, man put me on the spot, Why don't
you Ben? I really enjoyed it. I was gonna ask
to make the same thing, like, how did he feel
about it getting a chance to call a game? I
thought it was fun. I think it's really cool to
be able to share that with somebody like Nick and
(17:38):
a couple of weeks ago, big Al. You know, guys
that played in the league, especially guys that played defense, uh,
and I think both of them added a lot to
the broadcast. Nick, what did you think about it?
Speaker 5 (17:49):
I loved that.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
My whole thing was I didn't want to step on
you or what Dave was doing, because you guys do
it at such a high level, and I've been a
fan of both of you guys for a while. I
just wanted to kind of be there and just kind
of help out at whatever spot duty that I could.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
But I really enjoyed it.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Was my first time actually doing it, but it allows
you to see the game from a different perspective. But
knowing that there is a sequence, there's a process, everything
is somewhat sped up. But I'm thankful that both you
guys allowed me to sit in and just kind of
be a fly on the wall.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Yeah. Man, I'm glad you got a chance to do it.
And you know, it really is a really high level broadcast.
You know, everything about it is moving very fast. You're
basically you're just reacting. You know, you don't have time
to think. You're just reacting. And you got a little
taste of that last Sunday, And that's what makes it
(18:51):
so satisfying when it all comes together, and what makes
it so cool to do a broadcast like that. To me,
that is probably the coolest thing I've done as a broadcaster.
And I've done a lot of things in this business
for a very long time, so it is cool to
share it with guys like you.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Well, the cool thing for me is if I ever
get in there and do it, I don't think before
I say anything anyway, So I'm perfectly prepared for any
type of event like that.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
Rick, we're out here live with the Great American Beer Fest.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Are you much of a beer drinker?
Speaker 4 (19:21):
Rick?
Speaker 2 (19:23):
You know what? That is my beverage of choice. I
don't drink wine. I don't drink much hard liquor at all.
I'm basically a basic beer drinker, and with me, I'm
a domestic beer drinker. You know, the traditional stuff that
I grew up with, you know, Budweiser, cores Paths, that
kind of stuff. I will drink craft beers on occasion,
(19:45):
but no, I love beer. I don't drink as much
as I used to, but when I do order something
at a restaurant, it's always a beer. I never order wine.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Well, I've asked this question as the only on the
show that doesn't partake in beer. What is it about
the beverage that attracts you to and just kind of
scintillates your palate?
Speaker 3 (20:11):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (20:13):
You know what? I think there's nothing better than an
ice cold beer on a hot summer day. Yep, there's
just something about it. Man and beer. You know, it
goes good with certain food, Like I don't think you
can have Mexican food without drinking a beer. I think
you have to have beer with Mexican food. I think
beer goes great with various comfort foods, you know, burgers, ribs, fries,
(20:37):
that kind of thing. And for me, beer is nostalgic
because it just brings back so many great memories of
being in college when I used to drink a whole
lot more beer. In fact, I'm shocked that Cores doesn't
send me a Christmas card every year because they owe
me something, man, because I sure drank a lot of
(20:58):
it in college. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (20:59):
Well, Pick doesn't drink anymore. I don't drink any lesson
So between the two of us, we make it work.
An't you correct me if I'm broke?
Speaker 1 (21:07):
You brought you in the inventor of the corona and lime.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Well, you know, I'm glad you brought that up, because
a lot of people don't give me credit for that.
Ben I did start that trend back in nineteen eighty two.
Corona was new to the US. You know, they just
started importing it to the US. And you know, I
know they were putting limes in coronas in Mexico probably
for years and years, but when they first imported it
(21:33):
to the US, nobody knew what to do it. And
this happened at a club in Long Beach called the
Marti Gras that I used to go to on a
regular basis. I ordered a corona because I've never had one.
It looked cool in the clear bottle. I tasted it
and went, oh man, this beer needs something else once
you give me one of those lines. So the bar
(21:54):
tender handed me a lime I stuffed it in there,
squeezed some lime juice in it. It tasted great. And
so now you walking around with a clear bottle with
alignment it keeping in minus nineteen eighty two, and people go, man,
I want to try one of those. So yeah, I
started to trend, and you're right, Corona should be sitting
me checked today.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Hey look while we're here, we're gonna hit up the
Corona wraps we're in if the cores reps.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
Hey, Rick Lewis is money absolutely?
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Come on man, all right.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
Rick, I'm gonna put you on the spot because you
were talking about all those delicious food items and how
beer goes well with it.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
So I'm gonna.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
Give you a collection of food right, this is fourth
of July summer play. And you tell me what's beverage
of choys that you would select.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
So we have a hot dog, we.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
Have baked beans, corn bread, and we have potatoes salad.
So what's the beverage of choys that goes right with that?
And set that off well?
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Like I said, For me, it's beer. And in that
situation with the food items you mentioned, I would definitely
go with an ice cold Bogert some sort. I prefer
the German old style Laggers, you know, which is your
typical bloodweiser past and all of those core same thing.
So for me, that would be a logger. And and
(23:14):
the gifting about loggers. They go down so smooth and
you can drink a lot of them, you know, a laggers.
If you're gonna be at a picnic for a ballpark
and you want to have more than one, go with
the logger.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
Yeah, I'm uh yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Loggers and then ales tend to be uh tend to
be my wheelhouse.
Speaker 5 (23:32):
I'm not really uh some of that other stuff. There's
these dessert beers and stuff.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
I think it's a little too exotic for me, but
I certainly appreciate how they're trying to push the limits
on brewing.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
A lot of stuff. The uh, the Broncos have.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Got the Chargers coming up coming up here this weekend,
and you know, I look at this thing, and I'm
looking at these schedule and this this second quarter of
the season's breaking right for the Broncos.
Speaker 5 (23:55):
You've got, uh, you've got a Raiders team that there
was a little banged up they beat. You got a
Chargers team banged up they could beat.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
You've got a New Orleans team on Thursday night that's
this is a quarterback. And then you got the Carolina Panthers,
the worst team in football. Sean Paydan's got a seventy
five percentage of the month of Oto For's career. The
second quarter shape of nice in the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Yeah, you're absolutely right. The last three teams they played
had lots of injuries to keep Where's the Chargers team
into this week with a whole bunch of guys on
the injury report. Now it looks like a lot of
them are getting healthy. They just had a bye week.
But you're right, this is trending in the right direction
for the Broncos. And the reason I told a Grant
(24:37):
to open this segment with wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus.
The Broncos have been a wrecking ball the last couple
of weeks. They got a head coach fired, they got
an offensive coordinator demoted, they got a starting quarterback benched.
I mean, these guys are on a roll right now.
It's just the way this is playing out man, You've
got to start feeling pretty good about these next couple
(24:59):
of games. The Chargers are worrying me a little bit, though,
And I'll tell you they've got a really good defense,
and you guys know that their defense, I think is
just as good as the Denver Broncos defense. And they've
got a good quarterback and experienced veteran quarterback who is
playing hurt. He's got an ankle sprain that he's been
dealing with. He's been playing with a brace on it,
(25:20):
and he somehow manages to get through. This is the
guy that plays hurt. I mean, he's a guy that
was last year. I think he had a busted finger.
I think he had two different hands injuries last year
and he just continued to play through it. Not that
he played all that well with it. But I'm a
(25:40):
little worried about them this week, just because they've gotten healthy.
They had the bye week, the extra week to prepare
for the Denver Broncos. But they don't have hardly any
weapons on the offensive side of the ball anymore other
than Herbert. They do run the ball well, and that's
about it. So there's kind of a mirror of the
Denver Broncos, except they have a veteran quarterback.
Speaker 5 (26:00):
Yeah, I just uh, it's it is one of those things.
A little worried somebody.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
You look at that defense, but the their offensive struggled
to get going as well. Rick, we are up against
it out here at the the Beer Fest.
Speaker 5 (26:08):
Wish you were here, brother, but aways enjoy hearing from here.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
Hey man, I'm gonna go crack one open.
Speaker 5 (26:14):
There you go, there you go.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
See.
Speaker 5 (26:16):
We live to inspire. This is what we do here
on Broncos.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Be cousin tonight.
Speaker 5 (26:21):
Rick lewis color analyst to your Debra Broncos.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
We appreciate it as always five six six nine zero.
Speaker 5 (26:27):
Here's the text line.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
We will have the Shilling Cider people joining us at
seven forty five talk a little.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
Bit about, you know, some of the products that they make.
As we are live down here at the Great American
Beer Fest, and it is a it is an event.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
It is a huge, huge event. There's a ton of
people down here. I can't even find I was looking
for some brewers from last year.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
I can't even find him. I gotta like, like do
the alphabetical thing.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
And that was what the the Maui Hawaiian You're.
Speaker 5 (26:53):
Right, don't Why couldn't even find him? It took Its
taking too much time trying to find There's so much
to do here. It's coming down to the great American beer.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Nick And the next segment I really want to get into,
and we get this Chargers game coming up, and what
would it mean for this team to get up on
the season four too, going into a primetime Thursday night
football matchup against the New Orleans Saints, and really, we
know what this team is capable are specifically on the
defensive side, but nationally people haven't.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
Seen this defense just yet.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
They haven't been a lot of national games, just be
kind of regional marketing. We're gonna get to go up
against New Orleans Saints, probably Spencer Rattler in that game.
How big would be if you going to that thing
four and two and have the opportunity to showcase that
defense at prime time?
Speaker 4 (27:34):
Boll This would be really huge for the Broncos because
last season I think the Broncos had with three contime.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
Games something like that, and this, like you said, it.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
Gives everyone opportunity to really see what this defense could
actually be. Because when when you talk to all the individuals
like I do around the country who are football fans.
The only thing that they constantly go back to is
that Miam New Dolphin game, and I'm like, man.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
That's so far behind that. But they don't want to
they don't want to let that go.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
So there is a disbelief that what Bans Joseph is
doing with this defense, it's.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Just kind of like smoking mirrors. It's not really real.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
So to win your fourth game in a row and
then you defeat a division rival, so now you're two
and zero in the division heading into a remands game
and on Thursday night back in New Orleans where so
many of the Broncos assistant coaches spending a lot of
their time, that's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
A huge game.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
Yeah, it really is.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
In a home coming, you know for Sean Payton, you know,
who hasn't obviously been back to New Orleans in a
football capacity since he retired temporarily on the New Orleans Saints.
Speaker 5 (28:48):
Do you think that factor's in it all?
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Do you think there's any you know, an animosity or
because they didn't really leave on terrible terms, you know,
Sean Payton sort of ran up the credit card and
Drew Brides retired the mount But they didn't really leave
on like terrible terms. It wasn't like it wasn't like
eight hacket or anything you know here.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
No, it is nothing like that.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
But there's some college guys that went to school with
who are from the New Orleans area, and what they
would always talk about was the fact that when you
mentioned uh, the credit card was charged, was maxed out.
Then coach Baydon took a year off did Fox Sports,
and then he came back because the reason that they
(29:28):
were upset because they felt as though they were right
on the precipice of somewhat of a large turnaround, and
before the turnaround occurred, he left.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
And now he is the Broncos head coach.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
And so for them, they're a little upset because they
thought the next Super Bowl under Sean Payton was coming,
but they're thinking that it may come into Broncos uniform.
It's we have some time to see, uh, the whether
that comes to fruition, But it's gonna be a really
interesting game. And that week is gonna be downplayed both
(30:02):
by coaching and the players, like he's not a big.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Big deal, But it is a big deal. I can
tell you absolutely.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
I mean and you know, Sean Payton wants to go
back and say, hey, look, you know, look what I've
done with this other franchise.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
It wasn't just.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
Drue and and he's gonna say, well, I'm doing it
with the younger quarterback.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
Yeah, I'm my handpicked guy that I developed all that
kind of stuff, So i'da be good. We gotta hit
a break We come back with a break down his
Chargers game, and now we got to see her and
I mean, excuse me these She'll excited people joining
Speaker 5 (30:28):
Us set forty five Broncos patry and I can't win
