Speaker 1 (00:00):
Five six, six nine zeros of text lineppreciate all the
text we've got. Brian's been very engaged from the show
because you're here at b K and he's your biggest fan.
Thank you, Brian. I do not have the text line up.
Ben is handling that heavy lifting. I'm kind of keeping
an eye on things going on in basketball and uh.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
On audio we might.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Forty five hundred up the money plus forty five hundred.
They're up on Liberty right now. Yeah, I got a
little sprinkle on it. Anytime it gets above a certain
I'll put a tiny dollar amount on it, just.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Because that's the definition of someone who has a problem
a gambling enthusiasm. Guess hit that twelve leg last night
because I didn't see. I did not. I did not
we uh know.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
In fact, the only leg that didn't hit was the
lebron plus nine and a half points rebounds assist in
the first quarter.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
We had seven. God, it was the only leg that
didn't hit two weeks in a row.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Me and my buddy who put our same game parlays
together because he's in California, so he's more of an advisors.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Well, if anyone from the IRS is listening, Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
I mean, I'm the one that pays the taxes, so
it doesn't really matter where I'm getting advice or I'm
putting my money.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
On my account.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
We missed a multi touchdown bet across you know, four
or five six games by one touchdown. Last week was
Steph Diggs, which was a bummer because for the legs
hit like Pittman and whatever. And then Steph Diggs doesn't
score in the revenge game against Buffalo, and then the
other two after Dune touchdowns hit as well. And then
it happened again this week where and this might because

(01:34):
Tim's from from just outside Philly, he had a two
Saquon touchdown and every other touchdown hit excluding like Juwba Hubbard.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Yeah, except for second.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Which was close. They gave him the ball. They at
least gave him a chance. Oh and then we had
another bet last week where everything hit in the Detroit
game except for Jamiir Gibbs against Cowboys the Detroit Dallas
game because they kept throwing.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
It to lignement. Yeah, yeah, they were throwing they were
doing all that out. I mean you are, so we
would have.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Hit a couple on the and five bucks would have
paid well over one thousand on each.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
All three of those SuPAR My favorites.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
When I when we do like I did, I cooked
up this twelve leg parlor or whatever, and the only
thing that didn't hit was the thing that was based
on the first quarter. So you just become just interested,
well all other eleven you know legs go out there
and yeah, it's sort of like if you if you
do one of those and you're like first person to
score a bucket Joker, Yeah, Greek Free, Luca, whoever.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
It is in the game, right, and then you know whatever,
you know, well, I.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
You see somebody that's like they put one hundred bucks
down and it was like Joker, Yiannis, Austin Reeves and
all three hit and they went twelve grand on a
hundred Yeah wait what yeah, okay, how did they know
Austin Reeves was scored the first bucket but got the
two other MVP and whatever. Yeah, let's look at this
Broncos and Panthers matchup where the line has shifted, and

(02:47):
that's in part because of this news that came down today.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
And a scary moment. For sure, everyone was okay, everyone
was healthy. Unfortunately, in the accident, he did sprain his thumb.
So Bryce will be playing this week for us, and
we'll be evaluating Andy day to day going into this
weekend to see if we can get him up as
the two on game day. So let the team note
really just right now, coming off the field, they were

(03:14):
they all kind of saw, but I wanted them to
have the official you know, just report the official news
about what our plan is going for this weekend.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, thank Alice on the Andy Dalton news. Dalton, of
course brain his thumb. Bryce Young will be distorted against
the Broncos. They all kind of saw by Andy Dalton
not practicing and Bryce Young taking all the first team snaps.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I think they figured it out. We're like, mm, it
was like.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
At least and throw us a curve ball. Wait h oh,
And he's totally fine. You just want to see how
how we did with this with this. So Jean Payton
is as right off the top about this same news. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
I think he's got good vision, quick release, he shows accuracy, poise.
He's played in big moments, you know, in other words,
when you I remember him coming out, you know, he's
played in you know, real big moments. So you know,
I think that look at you flip the focus when

(04:06):
you when you have a change in quarterbacks from like
one to the other, and then study it as best
you can.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
And I think that that's the charitable answer from Sean Page.
At the end of the day, I don't think they
were too concerned about either situation. Dalton a little bit
better passer, you know, Bryce Young a little bit better athlete.
But at the end of the day, and either one
of these guys are sitting there, you know, having you
quaking your boots. Deanatay Johnson was gonna be a good
fantasy play this week anyway, with PS two back healthy

(04:34):
and with how well Riley Moss has played, But with
Bryce Young, he feels like an even worse fantasy play.
If the Panthers score more than ten to twelve points,
I'll be extremely impressed, and or it will mean Jocks
Broncos shocked.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
It'll mean that the Broncos have done something. The one
play I'm a little bit worried about.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
I've seen him do it twice now, and that is
that wheel route we saw. If it do all score
on with the Chargers, that's the second time I've seen
somebody run that wheel route underneath something else when Van
it's just blitz in and they've got the you know,
the single, they're running that up behind there, and we,
you know, on the edge, we're not defending that very well.
I wouldn't be surprised to Caro a lot to take
another shot at that. And that feels like that's maybe
even a Miles Sanders not at Cuba Hubbard in that situation,

(05:13):
but maybe it's it's Cuba as well. So Sean Payton
was also asked about the element of bow Knicks running
the football. Bonix a is the fourth most rushing yards
of any QB in the NFL. I'm gonna assume without
looking that the guys ahead of them are Lamar, Jaden Daniels,
and probably Kyler Murray certainly.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Or Kyler Murray would one of the two.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
We've gotta be one of those, but definitely Lamar and
definitely definitely Jaden Dales, So no doubt about that. But
what kind of dimension that that adds to to his offense?
Because bo Nix has been able to run so effectively.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Number one is fast, and I think they're uh, it's
a it's a little bit a plus. Maybe we didn't
necessarily see to that extent. We had a couple of
design schemes last week, you know, a third down run,
some read option stuff, things that that can help our

(06:13):
running game. And he's smart enough to know how to
protect himself. So you know, certainly take the first play
of the game, you know we're going to take a shot.
They do a pretty good job maybe in coverage, and
he climbs and it becomes a little bit more challenging
if you play man to man because your rise as

(06:35):
a cover player are on your player. And so we
did get I felt more zone as that game played
out a week ago, and so certainly it's an asset.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yeah, I mean, I think you said it all there.
There's not really anything to add to that.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
It's interesting because we're gonna die sacked everything that Bo does,
and so you're looking for the pluses.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
The minuses can can be obvious with some of.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
The poor throws, poor decisions obviously early against Seattle or
you know, earlier in the season, in those rows and
in the ones he wants back against Pittsburgh. But because
they're protecting the ball so well and they're protecting Bo. Right,
we heard, as I say, right again, we heard we
heard Sean talk to us about quarterbacks taking sacks, and

(07:29):
we know that he has no true love for Russell
Wilson as his quarterback. And I don't think he minds
one way or the other about Russell Wilson the player,
the person, but as his quarterback, he didn't didn't love it.
And Russell has been one of the most sacked quarterbacks
nearly every year, if not the most. Russell run into sacks.
Bo Nix right now is the least sacked quarterback in

(07:50):
the NFL, only.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Being sacked eight times. And because of.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
That, it doesn't put you in as many long situations.
I still had plenty in Actually in the games they
lost where they're behind the sticks, they were not at all.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Really on Thursday, one of the.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
More interesting stats bow not very good, one of the
bottom league passers in late downs, but early downs one
of the better passers. And maybe that's something that they
need to look at, you know, incorporating the draw on
late downs or you know, things like that. The other
part is like Bo, you talk about a nut games
sacked and only that he didn't fumble either, you know,
I mean, you talk about guy who' run the ball
forty seven times? No, fumbles and by the way, forty

(08:24):
seven percent of his carries go for a first down.
There's only one of the quarterbacks the top set. It's
brock Purty of all people. Yeah, you want to move
the sticks, and that's sort of the dimension you want
from a quarterback who's looking to throw.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Is what you thought you'd have with Russell Wilson.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Still, so that Aaron Rodgers went healthy would give you
so certainly what Patrick Mahomes gives you at times. So
it's not that they're looking to run for big chunk
yards or huge gains. It's on third and four, they're
outside the pocket, they're pumped faking, and they're getting four
and a half or they're getting five and they're sticking
the ball out at the marker. We saw where the

(08:59):
pylon cam came in to play the other day. So
here's bo Nicks asked kind of a similar question, but
also just about they beat the Saints up on the
ground two hundred and twenty five yards, the most rushing
yards since since twenty thirteen they've had as a team.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
They beat the Bucks early through the air.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
And so their ability to win games different ways and
and how both thinks that helps the offense, it's.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
Been really good. I think that's kind of the thing
about our offenses. You never really know, you know when
we go out there what we're going to do, and
you know, it's harder to find. Some games we will
throw the ball and do it well. In other games
like Thursday, we'll run it and run for over two
hundred and that's how you win ball games, really, and
you know what you have to throw when you when
you run for two hundred and fifty yards, And you know,

(09:42):
I thought that was good to see from our old
line and our backs, you know, physical runs getting downhill,
and I thought that was really good for us to
open up our offense.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yeah, I mean, I think that that needs to be
the identity that Denver Broncos going forward. We've seen the
success that this team can have when they run the football.
We saw the second half against the Jets. We saw
it against the Bucks, we saw it against the Raiders,
we saw against the Saints. We've seen when they run
the football, they win games and it opens up the
pass get when they don't and they get away from
it and all of a sudden, we're forty passes deep

(10:12):
with bow Nicks.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
We lose. Corlan's don't talked about if the.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Defense wants to stay in into high safety and let
us run the ball, We'll just keep running it. He
doesn't care about his stats, he he said. He said
as much, and I believe him. Corland would love to put.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Up big numbers. He wants to score. He wants to
help his team win.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
But I asked him that right off the top, and
in fact, herey we might as well hear that, because
I do want to play him talking about the crowd.
But this is this is court talking about not being
a factor at all in the in the offense in
terms of stats.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Who won?

Speaker 6 (10:43):
I saw that matters at the end of the day,
big win. The running backs had a really big game. Ol,
I'm blocked the bus off. Well, shoot, I think it
was all hands on deck. We all had our hands
in the in the run game and shoots. It was
fun to watch them, you know, cut it loose. I
think we had like a six zero point four or
six point one average or something like that. I mean,
that's that's amazing. When you can run the ball that

(11:05):
efficiently and effectively, you know, it's it's hard to be,
you know, selfish in that situation. I mean, it's like, Bro,
they're gonna stay in too high and Dar's to run
the ball. All right, Bet we'll show you we can
do it. And that's what we did, and it was
really fun to watch and be.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
A part of.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
We're kind of nitpicking or talking about words we might
use our phrases. It's been going on multiple years where
Courtland says shoots instead of shoot. I'm not sure why
he pluralizes it. I haven't asked him. It's not a
Texas it's you know, it's just his thing. I don't
ever hear anybody else say it.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
One of those colloquialisms or whatever, probably picked up from
a parent. Yeah, maybe maybe I did.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
I did ask him about e Jerro Averro's defense because
there's some familiarity there and that he gave us this.

Speaker 6 (11:49):
Yeah, I mean, obviously got a chance to play against
some while he was here, you know, training, count, practice, sotas,
whatever it may be. Got a chance to see it,
and he got a good he has a good scheme.
We had a lot of really good players playing those
positions when he was here, and they got some guys
over there playing the positions and.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
It's gonna be on us to game plan.

Speaker 6 (12:09):
Watch the film, understand what we're gonna be getting, Understand
the personnel that is that is there, because I feel
like personnel definitely impacts how the defense gets called. And
they got some guys that do certain things well over there,
and so you can tell they played to those strengths
and it's gonna be upon us to find find those crevices,
those holes and exploit them and you know, get out

(12:29):
there with the win.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
He was at least complimentary on the latter part because
he goes, we had really good guys in this defense,
and they have players too, but that's there are players,
and they played for the Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
I did ask Bo Nicks.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
As well, though, about what he's seeing from Carolina's defense,
and and Bow has less familiarity. Here's here's what Bo
gave us on Giro Leverro's undermanned unit.

Speaker 5 (12:53):
You know, they're they're a good, good bunch. They keep
everything in front of you. They don't give up a
whole lot of exposive players. They tack well, they do
a good job of rushing the passer. You know, obviously
they got some key contributors over there that are that
are you know, really good players in the league, and
so got to be wary of those guys and then
make sure that we continue to do what we do

(13:14):
and run the ball efficient league, do well on third downs,
do better on third downs because we haven't been very
good in that area all year. But I think it
just starts with early down production and then moving from there.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
Yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, it's
tough to sit there and try and make this thing
seem like it's gonna be tougher that I mean, you
have to find mos you know what, overlooks something you
don't want to You don't want to sit there and
overlooks something come out flat. But at the same time,
it's tough to look at the tape on Carolina team
that's one of the worst teams the league at scoring,
one of the worst teams the league allowing teams to score,

(13:47):
and then sit there and and and hype yourself up, uh,
you know for this one in terms of it being
some kind of equitable matchup for the Broncos. It's funny
that they're playing Carolina because John Fox, King of Cliches,
when he was here at Foxy, who had really good
teams all five years that he was here, all four
years that he was here, and he's like, yeah, we
don't look at the record.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
We look at the tape. That's that's what you say.
When he's playing a team that's one and six.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Yeah, like, well, okay, the tape shows they're not very good.
I mean they're twenty shows that the record.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Is on offense. Because they're on offense, they're.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Twenty ninth in yards per game, twenty fifth in yards
per play, twenty eighth in points. On defense, they're thirtieth
in yards per game, thirty first in yards play, actually
only sixteenth in points. They're the worst team sacking the
quarterback in the second worst in the league, second worst
on third down, and they're one of the worst teams
in the red zone. On the one hand, their offense

(14:37):
is a very stoppable force, but on the other the
defense is a very movable, logical So it's just a
really bad rush defense, dead last in.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
The league one hundred and sixty two yards.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
I think the Broncos will not only hit that average,
they will they will go above it, and it will
affect the Panthers average. Panthers fans may need a six
pack after seeing this, we got before you next Rockus
Country to Night.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Special next to Cody Rourke for Joe us h at
the last hour. I'm missing any part of that. You
always go to Broncos Country.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Dot dot com, slash podcast or or if it gets
your podcast, Apple iTunes, Spotify totally free and also my
Heart radio app where you.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Can also get to take it for granted. Podcast is
the Is the a new episode dropped yet? I was
a little lazy this morning, so it has not. It
will drop in about an hour on a new episode,
so this will not be for my ride home. Then
it will not be. It was on the new episode.
Ken Solomon, former rock Rockies the Nuggets.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Yeah, Rocky Rocky has been kind of making the rounds
telling us some great stories. I'm sure he has plenty
of great stories that you shared with you. One of
these years, I'll I'll be invited on that podcast, but
maybe not in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
David. With that, let's get the NFL six pack. It's
time for the NFL six Pad. I'm gonna trink a
lot of beer, insight and insight information you can't find
anywhere else. No. Six, the top six NFL headline.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
What former Jets head coach Robert Sala spotted a Packers
practice today and it.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Sounds like won't be the last time he's around the
team this year.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Salom the Packer's head coach Matt Lafleur, obviously coached together
into college ranks with the Texans, which is why Lafleur
reached out to Salad to come work with the team
in the wake of the Jets letting him go. Laflora
said his press conference as Sala was the forty nine
Ers defensive coordinator before landing the Jets job, will be
consulting with the team's offensive coaches and what he calls
a fluid role. Lafoor said he expected the salary back

(16:28):
of practice Thursday. No set schedule for what he'll be
with the team the remainder of the season. What do
we think of the Packers hiring Robert Sala, Well, I
didn't think that his relationship with Matt Lafleuur was that
strained when he fired Matt's brother Mike Sala.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
None only they worked together at Eastern Michigan.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
He Eastern Central, Eastern Eastern Michigan. That's where the Lafleur's
are from and Sala would like go to their house
when Mike was I think, either still in high school
or college and like have family dinners with them all
the time and would like stay there, maybe even over
holidays and stuff. So they're very close. And Mike also
landed on his feet quickly with Sean McVay, so.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
Not a surprise.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
He's gonna collect a big check or whatever the left
of his big check from Woody Johnson and for a
dollar for the packers and a consulting fee. You don't
have to disclose that because he's not a coach. They
could pay him a million dollars. I could have him
ten dollars. I don't think he'll be there every week,
because I'm sure he asked me back in Jersey with
his family, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him
there with some frequency too. Bill Belichick, who got one interview,

(17:29):
no offers with seven jobs open back in January, kind
of has created the ultimate media bully pulpit. He's possibly
using it to maximize his options for twenty twenty five
and subtle scores in twenty twenty four. He's taken shots
at his old nembhsis in New York Jets owner Woody Johnson.
On Monday, Belichick stirred things up with his long time
former employee, criticizing his successor for calling the team soft

(17:52):
as it relates to potential future employment prospects. Belichick has
question Jaguars coach Doug Peterson for saying the team needs
an end season culture change. On Monday, Belichick criticized Giants
GM Joe Shane for not re signing running back Saquon Barkley, saying, quote,
it looked like in hard knocks, I don't think coach
Table wanted to get rid of Saquon. I certainly don't
think Cohen or John Marrol wanted to get rid of Saquon.

(18:13):
Belichick said on Pat McCabe show, it seemed like the
general manager thing, like we don't think anybody will pay him,
but kind of.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Everybody in the new league knew he was going to
the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
What do we think right now, Bill Belichick doing the
media thing, and what do we think about Tim taking
shots at that potential thing and does that affect his
future employment?

Speaker 2 (18:31):
I think it might.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
With the Jets, he's not going to be a candidate
there and I think he wasn't a candidate there anyway.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
I think he's okay with that.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
I don't think he wants to be in the AMC
East as much as he hates Robert especially, he doesn't
care for Robert Craft right now and what they had
going on.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
I don't think he's going to hurry to play New
England twice here.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Like his level of vindictiveness is less about that, AN
think more about showing he can win another ring somewhere else.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
The Giants.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
It's interesting because Brian Daball used to work for him,
and we know about the whole thing as it relates
to the Brian Flores, right Bryan and Brian.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
He's not trying to get Brian dab All fired.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
He understands Joe Shane may not be long for the job,
so by him piling on Joe Shane, that's him being
a good friend to Brian dave Ball.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
I think he does have respect for John Marra. It
feels like it's going to be at this point.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
The Jacks have interesting pieces, but a two team race
I think between Dallas and Philly. But I'm here for
all the Bill Belichick media that he wants to do
because we know next year, wherever he is, he's gonna
do less and less and go back to being Bill
Belichick Free Well, Bill Belichick's barbs at general manager Joe
Shane apparently won't be enough to get Giants co owner
John Mara to make a regime change. By Judy Batista

(19:40):
NFL Media, Marras said Wednesday he does not anticipate making
a change to the coach or general manager during or
after the current season. Mara said he still has confidence
in general manager Joe Shane.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
And coach Brian Dable.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Maura added he hasn't been sufficiently patient in recent years.
That patient apparently doesn't extend to quarterback Daniel Jones. Lara
wouldn't discuss him, which obviously means Jones is going after
the season and shouldn't surprise anyone. The Giants are two
and five and take on the Steelers on Monday night.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
It's unclear how bad things will get.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Regardless, Mara doesn't currently anticipate issuing pick slips.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Now.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
I always love that I don't anticipate is a qualifier
that allows you to cover all matters, since, first of all,
do we think either of them get fired? Second of all,
we can see October continue with Drew Luck. I think
I think we might Drew. I think you can throw
a better football than Daniel Jones. Neither of them are great.
I was critical of Daniel Jones and I think it

(20:34):
even got clipped, but he would then went out and
beat Seattle. So said, well, that was a great timing
because I said he sucked, and I think I might
use harsher language than that, But Drew's We know what
kind of what Drew is and what he is, and
he's still more exciting, and I think we'd be more
exciting for fans. At the same time, Daniel Jones needs

(20:54):
to be done. And John Mayer saying all that stuff
to whatever, it's not really saving face. He made bad choices.
So whether you're talking about Ben Mack could do, whether
you're talking about Pat Shrman, whether you're talking about Joe Judge,
he has no one to blame about himself because he
made those hires.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
He's always involved in that aspect of it.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
He probably has held onto GMS a little too long
at times. And so I think Dave Ball is a
good coach. I know that you think he's a good
coach too. I don't know if Joe James a good
GM and I will. I don't think anybody else that
watched Hard Knocks is like, you know what, this guy
really gets it.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
Four professional athletes have plenty of privilege.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
One of them a privilege didn't extend to getting out
of something. More people hope to avoid Cowboys kick or
bran In. Aubrey mispracticed today with a potentially unprecedented injury
report designation jury duty via Nick Karras.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
And the Fourth Worth Star Telegram.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
Aubrey's serving on a twelve person jury and it fell
in the assault case in Tarret County, Texas. Now has
reportedly trying to get Aubrey excused, but he insisted on
doing it.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
The case continues on Thursday and Friday.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
The presentic judge reportedly will work with Aubrey's football schedule.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
It's unclear how long the trial will last.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Because the second degree strangulation case doesn't involve the questration,
he is able to.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Attend the game I won't miss on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
Kudos to Aubreyfer's not shying away from an important civic function.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
You us see twelve angry jurors, twelve angry men.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
Because I don't know the makeup of the jury keep
the Cowboys Pro Bowl kicker out of a game because
the judge would not be up for when their reelection
was up or appointment. It wouldn't go great because we
know important Aubrey has been to what the Cowboys do.
If anyone can miss practice other than practicing onside kicks

(22:35):
and I guess plays in directional kicks, it's a kicker,
and so I think that they're fine in that regard.
He get his practice all week. They can just shift
what they're doing. Uh so good on Brandon Aubrey to
fulfill his city and clarity point that he was the
one that wanted to do this because there were some
hilarious jokes rolling around Twitter about the Cowboys being the
dumbest team on the planet, the only team who couldn't
get their kicker on a jury duty five Making of

(22:58):
Cowboys Kayln Kayla Uvias had had a column I don't
know if you saw it, talking about the inside look
at the Dallas Cowboys and all that. But multiple Cowboys
quoted in the story are suddenly pushing back against.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
The quotes that they made.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
I guess not knowing that they were going to be
read by Jerry Commander's defensive en Dante Fowler, previously with
the Cowboys, reportedly said for the article, you got real.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Facilities here talking about in Washington.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Might not see tourists coming around, but it keeps the
main thing the main thing. Trowler jumped on on Twitter
and said I didn't say that with a cap emoji corner.
Kelvin Joseph, who went to the Chiefs after Dallas now
plays the Colts, said over here in Kansas City, the
point is football winning championship. There in Dallas, it was
a lot of football like other stuff. Joseph said on Twitter.
They tried to set us up. It's strange because it's

(23:42):
not like they said anything inflammatory. It's not like they
were alone. One former player who wasn't quoted, confirmed the
situation say quote, I'll never forget when I would work
out on Tuesday mornings and have people tapping on the
weight room glass like I was supposed to do something
cool on command. That's former Broncos quarterback Deucci got on Twitter.
Definitely different business structure inside the Star. Even if Aller

(24:02):
Joseph didn't precisely say what they supposedly said, the article
is plenty of reasonable quotes, and this sort of feels
weird that suddenly there's a concerted effort at pushing back
on a less than flattering piece about the Dallas Cowboys,
the specifically how the tours are going on all the time.
None of this story surprises anyone. And Caitlin's a really
good reporter, and so obviously there was something said to

(24:26):
that end, because Calin's not gonna put stuff out there, No,
certainly not. And she was really good at SI. She's
a protege of Peter King's and at the Athletic and
now at ESPN. Obviously, but it doesn't surprise you when
the nature of the story and guys like Ben Denucci,
I'm sure that list is long that could say, oh, yeah,
we had this silly thing happened, and that silly thing happened.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
The Cowboys are one of one.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
They're the most valuable franchise in all the pro sports,
and you have to take the good with the bad
because being a member of the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas
and really across all you know, the entire sports world
landscape is unique and different and cool and challenging, and
so if it's I it's gonna change how you get
your meetings. It's you don't miss your meetings. It's just

(25:12):
it's just different there. The media room is right next
to the locker room. There's just a lot of different
stuff there that Jerry has always let go on. And
nothing's changing in that regard anytime soon.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
Yeah, he's always been sort of the peat Barnum of
all that.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
He enjoys the spectacle and that you know, trickles down,
I guess there at the start.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
One of the biggest stories of the week came from.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
Patriots coach Shrod Mayo's public characterization of the team as soft.
During the portion of the Let's Go podcasting featuring Raiders
defensive m Max Crosby and Jim Gray, the topic came
up then. At first, Crosby answered with some confusion the
general question of how he'd feel if his coach called
him soft, and then was told by Gray that Mayo
had used that term in reference to the to the Patriots.

(25:52):
Crosby said, bleep, well, bleep, you know what I mean.
He's a player, so he's been around it. He played
at the highest level, and you know, if that's how
he feels, that's how I feel.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
I can't speak for him, but I would not take
it lightly. You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
I would have a major issue if I was a player,
especially another grown man, calling you soft.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Those are fighting words.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
I'd be interesting to see whether Patriots players feel the
same way if they respond by taking the fight to
the Jets on Sunday. Why would you feel about Jerrodmeo
calling his own team soft?

Speaker 2 (26:19):
I'm fine with it.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
I think it's gonna be in cooming on those players
if they want to go pick a fight with their
coach goal for it, or they can show him by
coming out and playing a hard nosed game against a
team that, even with its flaws, is still a pretty
hard nosed team, at least defensively with the Jets led
by the Williams Is and when CJ.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Mosley's healthy and all that, so it's gonna be on them.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
Max Crosby is sitting there a thousand miles away in
Vegas or fourteen or miles away.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
In Vegas saying I think I'd have problem with that.
I get it. Max Crosby doesn't take plays off.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Max Crosby is not a soft player, but he wasn't
calling out each player by name is saying our team
is playing soft. We're in a market where Michael Malone
calls his team soft all the time, and even with
the best player in basketball three pre time MVP in
the last four years, he still calls them soft from
time to time. And so I think that you can
have a problem with it, But the only thing you

(27:10):
really do is you can pick a fight with your
coach that's gonna cost you your job, or you can
go out and prove them wrong, or you don't respond
and you prove them right. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
I mean, if.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
You're if you're at the point where you're already in
your first season as a head coach and you're already
out there, call it that's that's a that's that's a
risky gambit being out there call it your your your
players soft and year one of your coach contender, he
probably thinks he's gonna be around longer than some of
these guys that they're hold. Yeah, and he probably does,
especially when you're hearing the report this week. Or did

(27:40):
Robert Craft say that five years ago he knew Drod
Mail was gonna place replace Bill Belichick.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
So if that's the case, he wasn't doing it to
happen for a year or two. He's not going to
have a short leash on Giroid Mail.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
If they're this bad in year three, the conversation changes,
I think. I think the other part of that is
is exactly that Robert Kraft wants to be vindicated in
moving on for Bill Belichick when he did, and I
think he's going to give Jerod mayoay every opportunity to
prove that. And they've got a rookie quarterback in Drake
May that has shown flashes or people that say Drake.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
May is gonna get a gym fired luckily didn't.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
Actually have a GM in name. Elliott Will's making the
making the moves. He's not called GM. So I do
think that that Robber Kraft is going to give them
a longer leash. The difference and the Tom Brady er
is that you had Tom Brady and unless Drake May
turns into that, you're not getting free agents less you
pay top dollar like they've had to a bunch. And
so I don't know. I'm I'm all here for the

(28:30):
Patriots sucking for a long time, even if I don't
have an issue with Gerrod.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
Mayo per se.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
Yeah, I mean at the end of the day, it's
going to be up to the players to respond on
this one, and it's it's going to be up to
them to you know, and the Jets is a tough ask.
You can run on the Jets, but it's not exactly
you know, the Patriots don't exactly.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
Have the greatest run game going right now.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
They don't look very well jointed on offense, and the
defense has been sort of hit or missed this year.
So it's a that's a tough that's a tough ask
across the across the board, certainly something that looks maybe
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
More competitive than what the Broncos are having this weekend.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
Yeah, the Broncos against the worst run defense in football,
who's missing their best run defender, among others. I guess
best two with shack out too. It's not this is
not setting up to go well for Carolina. So I
think if I'm a Broncos fan, I'm excited about the game.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
At last check, the weather's still gonna be.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
Nice, supposed to be and so that won't be a factor.
You just have to continue to do what you've done
in the two games. You face bad opponents or banged
up opponents, I guess, and in both the Raiders and
the Saints, and that's just take care of business, run
the ball, play good defense, force a turnover or two,
and get out of there, hopefully injury free.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
I think that that's the big thing for me, Like
if we're looking at any any bullet points this weekend,
obviously you want to get the win against the Carolina Panthers,
and you figure that that's not only the primary focus,
but attainable to get out injury free. The last thing
that you want to do is get yourself banged up
going into a three game Stretcher gets Baltimore Kansas City
in Atlanta. You brought this up early on in the show,

(30:08):
and we're talking about PS two.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
I think he's gonna start. I think you'll play.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
Not only would you like to see him out at halftime,
I'm sure you love to see Jarret Sidham take over
midway through the third quarter because the game's thirty to three. Yeah,
I would love to see I mean yeah, I would
love to see a healthy dose of a lot of
down roster players try Franklin, I mean you know, yeah, just.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Like mcglinchy and bawls off the field, right, and then
on the defensive side of the ball kind of the
same thing.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
I mean, you know, let's see those let's see those
back upslet's see Andrea Tilban, Let's see tomorrow Mathis. I
want to see Jael Skinner playing a little safety. I'm
hoping that we get to that point where, you know,
most of the starters are out.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
And that's what we're seeing is a lot of that.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
So we can't appreciate you, uh stepping in tonight with
Nick Ferguson being out tomorrow night myself they Ferguson live
from Sam's Number three. Guys, come on out, definitely going
to uh, We're get to be.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
The last time to get qualified for Panta tickets. Your
stakes pretty now.

Speaker 6 (31:01):
I'm choking with you.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
From the Nuggets get yeah and you'll be.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
That's sake, there'll be live tack it in from the
the Nuggets home opener, Middy, Christalbin's but All Bright, Grant Smith,
Brocos Country to Night Wells Home after this
