Speaker 1 (00:00):
He's going to Kiway cosper at a hotline now and

(00:01):
bring on your color analyst to the River broncos Rick Lewis, Rick,
you know in this evening.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hey, I'm doing good, but I gotta say I am
so disappointed to hear that my hero Nick Ferguson eats
hot dogs. Come on, Nick, tell me.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Well, not only bro, we both eat hot dogs.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
He gets the bougie ones, though from Whole Foods.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
He can't eat the common man hot dog. Like I
get the thirty pack for a dollar. This guy's over
here getting six hot dogs for twenty bucks.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
I don't care how boogie the hot dog is. It's
still pick snouts and ears and tails and hooks on
a bun, basically with some mustard on it. I can't
believe you're a hot dog guy, Nick, I'm so disappointed. Listen.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
It's not something I do all the time. But do
you eat the kosher hot dogs on occasion?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
It's not he eats the kosher on was I'll eat
the gentile hot dogs.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Just just shove it down my throw, put it on
a piece of bread with a little a spicy mustard,
and shove it down I'm going to go.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
All right, well, I'm gonna have to I'm gonna have
to forgive you, but it did hurt me a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Well, I don't think the Broncos is necessarily in a
danger of being hurt this week. And although we could
be reading it wrong, I guess Carolina Panther has not
exactly been the bastion of quality football this season. Bryce
Young gonna be the starter instead of the red rifle
Andy Dalton. As we look at this game, how are you?

Speaker 2 (01:24):
How are you reading this thing?

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Because I've gone for full circle where I talk myself
into a huge Broncos win, and now I'm on the
back side of that, like a well what if we lose?

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Well, I do think they catch a break without Andy Dalton.
I think Bryce Young is a guy that looked pretty
bad last year, and I think he looked even worse
the first two games of this year. Now that being said,
you know, he's a mobile quarterback, he's got big arm talent,
he's got first pick in the draft talent. But you

(01:56):
know he's been in a bad situation there at Carolina
last here with Frank Reich, and I think his confidence
is shattered. We'll see on Sunday how that goes. But
I am a little bit concerned about a trap game.
I have to tell you that. You know, with the
two road games coming up against Baltimore and Kansas City,

(02:17):
it is a little bit of a concern. And also
coming off the mini bye week. A lot of times
we see teams that come off a bye week or
a mini bye week, they're a little flat, start the game,
a little slow. We could maybe see that on Sunday,
but that'd being said. I think this coaching staff is
so good on the Denver Broncos that they won't let

(02:41):
that happen. And if it does, if they do come
out flat, they'll make all the adjustments they need to
make to beat a bad Panthers team in Bryce Young.
Because the Broncos got allowed to play for now. You know,
nobody thought this team would be four and three going
into Week eight. They beat the Panthers, I mean, they're
a pretty good playoff position at that point. I hate

(03:04):
to even mention playoffs halfway through the season, but the
Broncos have a lot to play for. The Panthers do
not Bryce Young, as I've mentioned, first picking the draft talent.
If they just let this guy just maybe just start
slinging the ball all over the field. Who knows what happens,
but I do think the Broncos win by double digits.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Well, Rick, with that being said, what has been the
most impressive thing that you've seen from the Broncos. It
doesn't necessarily have to be offensive defensively, but it could
be collectively. What's been that thing that you've seen? And
it makes you go, you know what?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
This team?

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Every single time I watch them, they do something that
gives me some kind of hope.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Yes, the defense, you know, we've been talking about that
all year, and we knew going into the season. At
least I thought the defense would keep them in every
game and that's been the case. And not just the
defense generally speaking, but that pass rush man. They're at
a pace to break the franchise record for sacks. If

(04:09):
they keep doing it at this level, which I don't
know why they wouldn't, they could break the franchise record
that was set back in nineteen eighty four. The amount
of pressure and the sacks that they're getting on quarterbacks
has been so impressive. And part of that, as you
guys know, is they're so much better in the back
end of that defense too, you know. So quarterbacks they

(04:32):
have nobody to throw to. They're hanging out of the
ball too long, and these guys are getting after them.
So to me, that's been the story of this football
team up to this point. And if bo Nicks can
develop and get better and maybe maybe play, you know,
in the first quarter like he does in the fourth quarter,

(04:54):
we might have something here. You know. I think this
team's got a pretty damn good shot to be in
the Player this year, and they definitely have to win
Sunday against a bad Panthers team.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Yeah, they do get after the quarterback quite a bit. Again,
that's why we opened the segment I call advance Joseph
sir Blitz a lot, maybe got sacks. But I think
that if we were looking at this defense, one thing
we got to keep our eye on this weekend is
passer Tan coming back off the concussion. I've been of
the opinion that you may want to rest him a
little bit, maybe not have him out there as much,
especially with those three big games coming up. Two road

(05:29):
games Baltimore, Kansas City, a home game against Atlanta that's
sort of a murders row schedule right there, and you're
gonna want your best player to be in tip top
four for those games.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah, you know what, I think. I'm okay with that too. Ben.
That appeared like it was a pretty serious concussion that
he suffered early in that game, and I'm okay sitting
him out another week just to make sure he's right,
because he's your best player and you want to make
sure you have this guy for the rest of the
season and if they do have a shot the playoffs.

(06:01):
And I thought Levi Wallace played pretty well. I think
Levi Wallace is a solid veteran cornerback. Riley Moss on
the other sides, played at a very high level, So
I agree with you. I'm okay at PS two six
this what happened.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
So what do you make of the name of Broncos
offensive line only giving up nine sacks this season when
we look a year ago it was double digit sacks?
Are we under valuing the Broncos offensive line.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
I think there's a couple of things going on. Yeah,
the Broncos offensive line is better than we thought, not
only better than we thought, deeper than we thought. There's
some depth on that offensive line. We've seen backups come
in and play solid starting with Polchowski. I thought Matt

(06:52):
Peartz played pretty well when he got a chance to
play right tackle. Foresights that center has been solid. So
this offensive line is playing better this year than they
were last year. But part of that too is bon Nicks.
You know, boon Nicks. It's fourth in the league and
rushing among quarterbacks. I don't think anybody saw that coming.

(07:13):
I mean, we knew he was a good athlete. We
knew he was a mobile quarterback, but I don't think
we knew he was a dual threat quarterback. And I
think we're going to start seeing them that run more.
Designed play for him, designed runs for for bon Nicks,
because that's his biggest weapon at this point. And it

(07:34):
also gives him a chance to figure things out in
the passing game and just settle down a little bit.
And so those two things combine, the mobility of bone
Knicks and the improvement of the offensive line is why
they're not getting him on the ground. And let's hope
he keep that up. I agree with you. I agree
with you, Rick.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
I think you know, if we're talking about vance Joseph
has Baby got Sacks is his theme music, maybe bo
Nicks is Bow earned to run in terms of what
we need to see out of him coming up this week.
Looking forward to hearing you and Dave Logan on the call,
and always appreciate you checking in brother Sounds good, guys.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
We'll see you at the stadium on Sunday. Thanks for
having me on
