Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well them do it Broncos Country tonight, but with all Bran, Dick, Ferguson,
Grant Smith, Zach Seekers, I would say assistant producing, but
really just eating sliders and fries over there at the
table selling him out.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Life on the air, this is what we do. Five six,
six nine zero.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Is the text line LA Dodgers up for nothing on
the Yankees Top six.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
I watch Stanton gets sent on a ball that would
have been third out.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
It was hit out to left field, and man, that
guy I was running as slow as I've ever seen
a baseball player run, and I've seen Cecil Fielder run.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Yeah, it was really bad.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
It was like watching someone run up hill in quicksand
with combat boots on.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Because when I was looking.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
At it, I think you and I both had the
same frame of mon like is this in slow motion
or he just running slowly? And I couldn't really believe
that the third base Yankee coach way to buy in
a sense of urgency when you're rounding bases and the
situation that Yankees find themselves in, I would think that

(01:06):
there would be a little more sense of urgency trying
to get to the plate. Yeah, I mean, like the
catcher for the DODGSS like smacked him in the chest.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
The ball cut.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
There are full bouts, like a full beat, you know,
like the prot whoever said him the third pace coach,
I should be fired before he gets back to the
dog aud That was that was miserable to watch. I
was like, well, this is gonna be embarrassing, like just
just watching it happen in real time. I was like
watching a car crash this uh, you know, as far
as that kind of stuff goes. Broncos currently though, sitting
in the cat bird seat as far as going.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
To the playoffs or sit there currently at this point
of the season. You don't want to count egs before they hatch.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
But if the if the season were to end today,
the never Broncos would be in the NFL playoffs. Did
we expect that at this point in the season and
can they work their way to this point through this
Murderer's row back half schedule that they have.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
No, I didn't expect the Broncos to be in this
particul the position. It was very hopeful to think of
the team as being really competitive in the first year
with bow Knicks, with the potential to make some noise
being as though they would play a lot of these

(02:16):
games and be really competitive. But it's been refreshing and
reassuring as far as what we've been seeing, Ben, and
let be totally honest, let's be as transparent as we
can and anyone feeling as though what I'm about to
say isn't true.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
You know where I'm at on Twitter or x.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
You can find me at Nick ferguson Underscore twenty five
and tell me something different. The Broncos are where they
are right now largely because of the level of production
that the defensive side of the ball has provided. Yeah,
and the offense here and there have have added their

(03:03):
mix up to it, but it's been the defense that
has been leading the charge. It is a team oriented
game and we have to kind of look at it.
But once again, I would be remiss if I didn't
give the defense.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
It's just due.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Well, I'm with you on this one.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
I mean, and it's not to take shots at the
offense or pot shot them or anything.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
The offense.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Reality, right, the offense has done its job against underhand
teams that were under strength. You go back if you
look at what the offense has done. The best games
that they've had. They beat up on the Saints, who
are the strength. They beat out on the Panthers, who
under strength. They get up on the Bucks who were
under strength. They beat up on the NFC South, who
was under strength, and so you know, I to me,
I mean, they did what they were supposed to do

(03:47):
in those games. But I need the offense to come
alive in games where the other opposing defense isn't missing
five to six starters. I need them to come alive
in games where it's an evenly matched game where you're like,
for instance, you got Baltimore game cut up.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Baltimore secondary headman good this year.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
The front seven is still good, but their secondary has
been spectatically bad this year.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
The stage came up on what is one hundred and
twenty yards of center Tillman. Two touchdown of center Tillman.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Jameis Wisden was making him a viable fantasy starter riding
my bench.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
But whatever's it's.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I mean, like, look, I think that I believe the
Broncos have a shot at this a this Baltimore game,
I do.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I don't know it because we went black all breat whatever.
I think they have a shot at this game.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
But it's clear to come down to, uh, they're going
to have to rely on the defense to be able
to shut down the offensive juggered out of the Ravens
as they have relied on the defense to get them
buy in other games.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
And that is the storyline to this season.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
It is what the defense has done to provide those opportunities.
You're absolutely right and not looking too far hit. The
defense is going to be play key roles in making
sure that the Broncos defense or the Broncos offense has
an opportunity ny to score points.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
And in some of those cases the Broncos.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Defense may be relied on to scoring some points themselves
and that that is a tough task to ask any defense.
But the whole idea is still a team sport and
is giving the Broncos offense an opportunity to kind of
find their footing and be able to make this team

(05:24):
more balanced. Once you get to the back half of
the season and dare I say start looking towards the playoffs,
that is still you know, down the line being and
you got to look at it cliche saying one game
at a time, but once again, the defense has really
done their due diligence to make sure that the Broncos

(05:44):
can actually stay in an opportunity to win.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Because let's go back to Stundy really quickly.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
And everything that we saw in that game twenty eight
to fourteen final score seems closer than the game normally
would per day, But think about how many times the
Broncos defense actually did their part to stand up and
hold the Panthers a team you could say where they're

(06:11):
not that good or whatever, but if you wipe off
the first touchdown, I would say, now you were forced
Carolina Panthers to break their sword at that point, and
you won't even get to a point in it's my
belief where the Panthers are able to move the ball
down the field with less than three minutes in the.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Game to score their first touchdown.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, I mean, look, if.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
It fumble hadn't occurred early, I would suggest that Carolina
may not have scored at all. Like this, This may
have been a game where because we saw they weren't
able to move the football at all, they got that
early momentum from the turnover and that was it. They
they weren't able to move the football, they weren't able
to execute and the one thing they were able to
do a little bit of was run the football, and
they abandoned that pretty quickly.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
So I tend to come down on the same side.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
As you on this that you know, again, the defense
carried a lot of that got things back right. I mean,
Carolin need to go down there and score in the
open but then they sudjusted and got you know, the defense,
they didn't do anything the rest of the game. I
think that if I'm the Broncos and I'm looking at
this Baltimore game, this is something that you know they're
going to have to look to the dev I mean,
the offense has done well against that under you know,

(07:16):
teams that were under strength, but now you're up against
a potential Super Bowl contender. And even though their secondary
has not been good, there's still the Baltimore Ravens. They
still have a good front seven. They still get after
the quarterback. And bo Nix has been at his best.
When you give him clean.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Looks, he executes. But when you when you.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Money to pocket around him or you may then he
you know that he takes off or he gets sped up.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
And so I'm a little concerned about concerned about that.
This is an early East Coast game.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
You've already got all those disadvantages going for you and
all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
But this is one of those.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Things where if they're going to win this game, the
defense is going to have to turn Derek Henry and
Lamar Jackson over in some way in order to keep
this thing competitive.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Yeah, but okay, based on what you were saying, all
the pressure once again is on the defense and he's
gonna have to be But and if they don't for
some reason, they can't contain either Mark Andrews, Isaac Lively
or Derrick Henry or Lamar Jackson. Everyone's gonna turn and

(08:10):
on the defense, I believe, and that that's gonna be
the storyline while the defense let the Broncos down in Baltimore.
And I'm gonna tell those individuals if that were the case,
not that I'm predicting, but if that were the case,
I'm telling Pound sand and Kick Rocks, because this is
the defense that should be praised. They said, they go
in the game and they're not a stellar because we

(08:30):
know this despite what we saw against Cleveland, right that
we could look at that as an anomaly, and I
would dare to say this, and you tell them what
you think here. I was thinking that Baltimore beats Cleveland,
so they overlook the Broncos.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Yeah, that's what a lot of people were thinking. And
I think we're not. I think now we're at the
point where they're not gonna be overlooking anything, right.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
And I'm thinking, now you catch them off the loss
in the game they should have won, and they're gonna
be a little angry, and Derek Henry's gonna run angry,
but still have confidence and faith in what Vance Joseph
has done with this defense to believe that the defense
is gonna give the Broncos opportunities and it's going to

(09:11):
be up to the offense to see whether they can
cash it or not.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Yeah, I you know, I look at I look at this,
and the pressure is on the defense.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
But these it is.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Because it's always been on defense and it's gonna be
that way because the offense has yet to prove that
it can bail the defense out. The defense has not
had a letdown this year, and the offense has not
been able to bail them, bail them out in.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Any in any situation. So the pressure is gonna continue
to be on your best unit.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
If the fans turn on that then nets the fans
being the fans. There's nothing I can I can do
about that. It's just fans being stupid. The defense is
carrying the football team this year.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
They are even in.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Games where they have offensive output, you go back and
you look, it's because the defense is able to either
generate turnovers they got two interceptions, or it's because the
defense is able to score themselves when they had the
two safeties and the you know, the turnovers and set
up field goals. The offensive explosions that the because I've
had this year have come against short handed defense where
the defense has made the offense look bat Baker Mayfields

(10:05):
were the best quarterbacks in the league this year, and
they found a way to slowly down. Then you got
Rattler and Bryce Young and those guys weren't able to
do anything. So there was never there's never been the
opportunity to go toe to toe as it were.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
With an offense.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Well, you've got to get that this week. You've got upcoming.
You've got a Baltimore team that knows how to run
the football, and they got multiple ways they can do it.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
They got a quarterback that's to lead it doing it.
They've got a running back that's to.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Lead it doing it, and when you when you suck
up on that run, they're going to beach over the
top of the crossers, whether it's Bateman or say Flowers,
and the two tight ends they got and Andrews and
likely and you know, it's a very tough matchup. I'm
I'm looking forward to this football game as a football
purist because I think this is going to be a
fun game, not looking forward to this as a pro
to Denver Broncos person.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Because I'm not sure that they can pull this off.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Well, if this is the excellent opportunity for the offense
to come out and exceed expectations over the past two
weeks playing the Saints defense and then following up playing
the Kill line of defense, you would like to think
that there's some kind of chemistry and cohesiveness that have

(11:06):
start to build for a game like this, So now
you can go in and you can play with confidence.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
To say, well, bow is matured to.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
A point where yeah, he's still the rookie, but we're
like at the midway point of the season and we
can you know, dismiss all the rookie talk because Now
this is one of those defining moments for Bowl, for
coach Paydon, but also for the Denver Broncos organization because

(11:39):
if there's hope, whether it's this year or next year,
to say that this team is ready to make that
next step, this is when you do it. This is
the moment. And this is the one thing I love
about sports because everyone's looking for that Barquey moment, the
moment that defined an organization, a moment that defined a
player and hope.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
This could be that for all parties involved.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Do you think the Denver Broncos should be buyers at
the deadline that's a trade deadline, Yes.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
And I know early in the season we didn't think so,
but looking at where they are now. But if you're
going to be buyers, you have to be specific buyers.
Like when you go in and you go by those
hot dog bones, are you shopping for the six pack
or you shopping for the top bat?

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Right, there's a difference.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Right, Oh, we gotta be shopping at Whole Foods because
otherwise not even use Yeah, so you got.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
To define where are you shopping?

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Because the Broncos are in the position where they're still
in the playoff push, you look at evaluate your roster,
say well, what subtle changes could we make to make
our team better? And all these subtle changes that correct
me if from Rome, Ben would be on the offensive side.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Of the ball.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
If you're shopping, you're shopping for offensive playmakers period. You're
shopping for and to be more specific, pass catchers, whether
that's a tight end, whether that's a wide receiver, you're
you're shopping for those things. If you're the Denver Broncos,
you don't have a whole lot to give up. You
don't want to give up early draft picks because you're
still building this thing out. So you have late draft picks,
maybe a Baron Brown and maybe a Greg Dulsitch to
try to pull something like that. Whether that's when I
say a likely, whether that's we talked about Kyle Pitts,

(13:10):
although I think that's probably prohibitively expensive at this point,
you know, whether it's but something like that and bringing
something like that in I think is the missing piece.
The question is can you get that? And what are
you willing to do to get that? And if you
do that, then you know is that enough?

Speaker 4 (13:25):
Well, this is why you have to be really strategic
in your thought process.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Okay, what type of players are we going after?

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Now, the Broncos are not sitting in a position where
like most teams say, we're one player what no, no, no, no,
The Broncos are not where they need to be from a.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Talent standpoint offensively.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
So you said, well, is there a guy at a
certain position out there on another team that's heavy at
that particular position that the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Can bring in? Not just for eight game rental.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
No, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
You know you don't want to go out for eight
game rents of you want someone who could come in
who can elevate this offense to another level, another gear.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
But also, you still have another year. So if there's a.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Guy that's out there you get, you have him under
contract this year and next year, and then you can
add more players through the draft of free agency, then
that's the direction that you go. But we know right
now the Broncos have a top defense, and that top
defense is going to get you far, but to get
you further deeper in the tournament, you are going to

(14:31):
need to have impact players.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
That is going to be like what is it now.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Nitric oxide.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
Yeah, you're gonna you're going to need that because the
whole thing. And I've seen a lot of fast and
furious movies. So when someone hits that red rout them
out there. And when someone when the guy normally hits
that red button, you see the fumes and the gas
mix together and that car takes off. Right now, the
Broncos offense, they're.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Missing that guy. Did you trade? Would you?

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Would you move Dulsage and Browning for Kyle pits Yes?

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Okay? And a heartbeat okay, okay? And the Atlanta needs
a pass rusher right.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
And it's not as though I'm saying this because I
don't like either goud, but we're talking about a team
building exercise that's operating in real time and you're looking
at players saying, okay, well, who do you have that
can come in and play for Greg Dosage. We saw
tight Ends play well and we'll probably get to that tomorrow,
but we saw tight Ends play well for the Broncos.

(15:31):
So if Kyle Pitts was that guy, you can plug
and play him right right away. But you got Jonah
Ellis was playing well, Nick Benito's playing well. So in
live was the Broncos to move away? If those were
the two players. It gives the Broncos an opportunity to
move away from those two players. Knowing is though they
have something into two shed I.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Would I would be all for. I'll put that out
on Twitter. We'll see I'll do it. Who says no,
Kyle Pitts for Browning and Dulsage? And see what what
the Atlanta fans think. We'll come back. We got an
NFL six pack. Rocos Country Night right here on can't way.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Live down here at the Sporty Pick a half mile
north of the four seventy on Peoria's Russell Wilson threw
another touchdown. We celebrate his entire catalog here on Broncos
Country Night, except for Zack Segars, who's a hater.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
He is, He's a RUSS hater. With that, let's get
to the NFL six pac, It's time for the NFL
six pad.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
I'm gonna trade the last Beard insight, inside information you
can't find anywhere else.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
No.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Six, the top six NFL headline.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
What well. Immediately after Russell Wilson threw a touchdown, Zack
Seegers came over to remind me that the Pittsburgh Steelers
offense had actually scored less points than any justin fields
start without the aid of the punt return touchdown.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
First question of the six pack, why is Zach Segers
such a hater?

Speaker 4 (16:48):
I wish I could actually tell you that, but I've
done that from Zach for a while. I don't know
if it's the company that he's keeping, but hopefully maybe Zach.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Will basically turn around.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
But the venom and vitriol for one, Russell Wilson runs deep.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Yeah, we don't need to have that. If you want venom,
go watch the movie. It's out in theaters now. Next story,
coo oh, I can't believe I got Zach with one
of those.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Hassan Reddick takes issue with criticism from Bill Belichick, Jets
defensive and a son. Reddick played his first game of
twenty twenty four on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
On Monday, he got his first taste of being criticized.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
By a football coach turned you know, bastion of negativism
that is Bill Belichick.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Belichick, on his weekly appearance with Pat.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
McAfee said Reddick came in the game and just ran
by the quarterback multiple times, creating lanes for scrambling by
Patriots quarterbacks. Redick took to Twitter to say, Hey, someone
called Bill Belichick and give him a job.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
It seems like he's home board and can't keep me
out of his mouth. It's not really about Reddick.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
Bril Chick seems to use his puby pulpit courtesy of
upteam media jobs to settle scores or advanced agendas and
doesn't like the Jets shot at Redick is probably just
collateral damage.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Still, it's interesting to see Belichick.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
It's a push back and why should he be immune
from criticism for his criticisms. He left the football arena
to the media arena and either crucible. Anything you say,
can or do will be held against you by somebody else.
Do you think it's fair for Belichick to say that.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
He was like a running by Cornets. Do you think
it's fair for Redick to push back?

Speaker 4 (18:14):
I think it's fair for players to push back, and
I think it's fair for Bill Belichick to be able
to say what he needs to say.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
The whole idea is that when.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
You say something about someone, you have to figure as
though they're gonna turn the tables and come back after you.
And that's where things have changed in the media for
so long because those who set behind the desk, sit
behind the mike felt as though they always held the cards,
held the power because they had a much larger audience
and the players couldn't clap back. This is a new

(18:44):
day and era. If you're gonna say something, you better
be ready for a player to clap back. And Bill Belichick, Hey,
he's on the side.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Of the media and guys have gotta fire it right
back at it.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Yeah, I think that. I think it's fair for both sides.
I think it's fair for building to do that. I
think we all look and are kind of looking at
what he says, and then I certainly feel like it's
fair for us sound ready to come back and clap
back at that. So anyway, next story three beaking a
clapping back. Cowboys corner Trayvon diggs confrontation with a television
reporter after Sunday's thirty twenty four loss to the Niners
stem from frustration, coach Mike McCarthy said on Monday. McCarthy,

(19:15):
though did not excuse Diggs for his angry exchange with
Mike Leslie of WFAA for the reporter's in game social
media post, saying, quote, I think we have to be better.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
In those moments. I always talked about staying on.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
A high road, McCarthy told Todd Archer of ESPN. That's
part of our responsibility in this business. It's not ignorant
or naive to the fact that this generation's part of
the world. They live in the social media world, and
to manage that. It's part of being a professional athlete,
part of representing this organizational properly.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
Leslie replied to a post.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Showing Digs tracking forty nine Ers tight end George Kittle,
eventually pushing him out of bounds after a long game.
The reporter appeared to be questioning Digg's effort, writing, what
is Diggs doing on this play? Diggs asked Leslie while
reporters were outside the locker room waiting for.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
It to open.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
That's what you took from that, out of that whole play,
that's what you took from that. You don't know football.
You can't do nothing that I do. You can't go
out there and do nothing. Stay in your lane, buddy,
stop trying meet dog. Diggs skipped his media obligation in
the locker room. Obviously, it's important we all be professionals
with it, it's not the kind of thing that we
want to do. It if it's been a coordinator. If
it's a coordinator, Mike Zimmer said, you probably shouldn't be

(20:14):
reading tweets right after the game, But I don't know
if that's what it was.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
So like Leslie, for his part, admitted he could not
do what Trayvon Diggs does.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Obviously, no one in the media can't really do that,
and for those who know they can't, they use their
platform to use it as an opportunity to take a
shot at the player. Now, do I'd agree with Diggs
going right directly to social media right after the game. No,
I don't, But I think if you don't play well,

(20:42):
you open yourself for attack. But you and I both
know how this media business work. Here are certain individuals
who will take a certain position, a certain stance, because
that has become who they are in their brand, and
they're looking to try to break players down. But like
you said, we talked about it with Bill Belichick, right
the whole idea, you're gonna come out of the player.
The player's gonna come after you, and if you say

(21:04):
something and plays steps to you, you better have the
chops to defend yourself because the way that players are now,
you may say they're more sensitive, but they're more aware
of what's being said about them.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
I agree, and I think that. I mean, I like
the idea. At least Mike Leslie was there to look
them in the eye after he said it too. This
wasn't somebody a one off on.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Twitter that guy hid from the player. At least he
was there to take it when it came back.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
Well, we know there's a lot of people who said
a lot of things on Twitter that don't show their
face the.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
Exactly and so that's why I credit I want to
credit Mike Leslie for that as well. Next story, four
Steelers quarterback Justin Fields officially was inactive tonight, did dress
as the emergency third quarterback. Team added Fields to the
injury report Sunday morning. They tweaked camstring pushing him as
question of old Steels didn't play Fields last week and
Russell Wilson's return, but coach by Tomlin told Jay Glazer
the team had a plan for both quarterbacks against the Giants,

(21:51):
with Wilson's the starter, Kyle Allen wind up serving as
Wilson's backup Steeers other inactives include a corner CJ Henderson, centers,
act Frasier, return of quarter up Patterson, the linebacker Nick.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Kubrick, the Giants and actors Connor.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Jamie Gillion, corner Dori Jackson, Ty Summers, Jake Cubis, Jordan Riley,
and quarterback Tommy DeVito.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
DeVito served as the first quarterback.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
What do you think of Fields taking what it seems
to be a demotion although they're listening him with a
hamstring injury that was unrevealed previously as the third quarterback.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
Well, Phil said it himself before the switch was made
that he didn't field as though he played well enough
to maintain the starting QB one position. And you can
argue all you want to about you know, Field and
that being a decent quarterback. You know, he had his
moments and then he had moments when he didn't form

(22:43):
as well, and that's kind of the name of the game.
And also Mike Telman and the Pittsburgh Stielers would put
in a tough situation because they needed to find out
where was his organization going to go from this point?
Could it be Phil's? Could it be Russell? As they
make a push for a playoff and also look towards
twenty twenty five, there's there there could be a possible
Phil if you know how the NFL works out with

(23:03):
Fields get another shot.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Yeah, I've heard.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
You know.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
The main reason the Fields isn't out there because he
wouldn't pull the trigger the deep ball. That's the main
reason that he wasn't out there. They felt he was
too conservative with the ball.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
And that's you know that, that's the reason that Russell
Wilson got got put back in there.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
That said, I loved what Fields said.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
I loved the fact that he took a catability on himself.
Look on, I play better, it wouldn't be a conversation,
I still be out there.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
That was to me.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
I was like, man, hats off for saying for saying it,
you know, for getting out there and saying it, taking
a capability, because you know that that really shows amaturation.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
I think from where he's come from his rookie season
out of games, not too.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
Fast for me and all that kind of stuff, that's
really shows a maturation to me.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
I'm looking forward.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
To seeing, uh, you know, seeing him duel it out
where he goes next to where that goes. He may
not have done enough to win a job here, but
Russ isn't gonna be the long term answer in Pittsburgh
either way.

Speaker 4 (23:47):
Well, this is why I feel is though, if you
are justin fields, just sit by by your time, and
who's who's to say that if you end up leaving
this Burg, it's gonna be option on him when he
decides he wants to stay or he wants to presume
speaking a starring quarterbacks somewhere else.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
But if I feels I stay, I.

Speaker 4 (24:06):
Learned everything I need to in the Pittsbourg Steelers offense
because what you've seen historically and quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Coming through that piss post to this organization, they're gonna
work with you.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
You're gonna have a top nice defense, and going to
somewhere else doesn't necessarily.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Mean that you're gonna have the same amount of.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Success, right and when we've seen what happens in other
organizations like the one we just squared off with with Carolina,
who probably is gonna have a quarterback opening after the season.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
Next story five, Jordan Addison.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Says people are making something out of nothing.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
With these free three posts.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
The Vikings wide receiver Jordan Dison said that a photo
he posted his Instagram when the caption free three, he
had nothing to do with his feelings about the team.
Addison said on Monday that he has used the phrase
since he was at the University of Pittsburgh and showed
past social media points post.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
To make the point. Aison said, people just try to
make something out of nothing. It ain't nothing. Addison said up.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Straight when asked again about any issues with how he's
being used on offense. He has fourteen catches, two undred
thirty one yards and a touchdown on the year, said
he's hoping see those numbers go up.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Obviously, I wish I could be doing.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
A little bit better, but I'm doing everything I can,
learning every week, watching the film, trying to get better
every day.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
We're looking forward to having a good game this week.
Addison will get a chance to try for a bigger
impact against the Colts in week nine. Addison, he's number three,
hence the free three phrase.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
To me, this bothers me a little bit because when
you're saying, when you're posting free three on social media,
people are gonna make a deal about it. You can't
blame people and Clayton, you're the victim. When you're the
one posting this stuff.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
Well, that's the way that receivers and guys now find
one way to let everyone know that they understand the
situation that they're in, but also kind of lead the
witness just a little bit. And to be fair, I'm
sure you know Justin Jefferson is looking at the situation
being in the Minnesota Bikings offense saying okay, well look at.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
How Pooka and Nikola and Cooper Cup are being used
and explosive and we're not being in the same way.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
And that's kind of what Jefferson thought that he was
going to how he was gonna be utilized, and I'm
sure Shordan and Edison thought the same thing. But that
hasn't come to fruition, and I think it is a
question that needs to be raised as to why. I mean,
you come from a system from Sean McVay stree where
they were able to deploy those two receivers, you still
got two receivers in Minnesota and there not being used adequately.

(26:17):
So I mean hidden message, but a message that you
don't need a secret decoder ring to figure it.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
Out what he was pointing up them.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
Yeah, but also the Minnesota's been winning games. So I
think that's a little bit of a uh, you know,
one of those things like I don't know that I
would be complaining in situation where.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
They've been playing as well as they have.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
But you know, again, for me, the main thing is
posting something on social media and then trying to claim
to be the victim if people misinterpreted, I'm like.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Dude, you posted it. Well, you know how this works.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
It has been said all over the NFL before I
joined and became a player, and even after it.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
Because Squeaky Will gets the oil.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Yeah, that's Romeo Dubs exactly. He got spented, but then
he got the next story. Sick Jeams traded for an
edge rusher.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
On Monday, getting Josh Ucha from the Patriots for twenty
twenty six six rounder. Lions need an edge rusher after
losing Aiden Hutchinson for the season with a fractured fibula
and tibia. Lion has also lost edge rusher Marcus Davenport
for the season with torn tricep.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Strong Side linebacker Derek Barnes could.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Miss the season with a knee injury if it's a
ben John Paschwall didn't play against the Titans on Sunday.
Lions coach Dan Campbell said Monday the team's look at
all options as the trade deadline approaches.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Said quote could be, yeah, could be what it asked
if anything was eminent.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
According to Dave Burkett of the Troy Free Press, Campbell
playfully jumped in the air and repleted, yeah, it could
be when asked in general manager Brad Holmes had come
to him with any potential deal, Campbell said more than
once since Hutchins's injury against the Cowboys, the Lions would
like to add a complimentary pass rusher rather than a star.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Campbell said, we know what the deadline is, we know
what it is.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Still talking about it, still working through it. Not concerned
about the pass rush against the Titans. There's other ways
at creating pressure.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Would we like a little more, Yeah, we'd like a
little more, But there's a number of plays in there
too where they got the ball out of their hand.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
We're aware, we're still looking to it, but no, I
wouldn't say we're in panic mode. I've told that neither
Miles Garrett nor Max Crosby, two players that have been
speculated about, are available on the trade market. The Broncos
have been speculated that Baron Browning available.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
They just really fit with what they do there in Detroit.
Could you see the Lions pursuing an edge rusher.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
And should that put the rest of the NFL on
notice that I get one?

Speaker 4 (28:16):
Yeah, it should because losing Aiden Hutchison and no one
as though it's been said that maybe if the Lions
reached Super Bowl, he might make your triumphant return to me,
you can't guesstimate and push your season inside waiting and hoping.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
That that's gonna happen. In the meantime, you need to
be out there and you need to be productive. And
here's what we do know.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
Dan Campbell has that Detroit Lions team and that fan
base believing that they can be one of those teams
in New Orleans for the Super Bowl. And know one,
as though you have your offensive pieces in place and
having that extra pressure for Aaron Glenn there depos a
coordinator will help the guys on the back end. So
I hope that the Detroit Lions are buyers when it

(29:00):
could be before November fits so they can get an
extra edgress.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Yeah, they got a week from this coming Tuesday, so you've.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
Got just a little bit of time left to be
able to do that, pull that off, and so there
we go. The Broncos, we talked about this a little
bit earlier, you know, as far as being buyers at
this point, you know, I think earlier we were a
little skeptical that that's necessarily the way they should go.
But I'm not opposed to it if they find the
right pass catch at the right price. I'm certainly not
opposed to Denver Broncos being buyers. We've talked about them

(29:28):
being sellers. I don't believe that they're going to be
sellers other than shopping Baron Browning and Greg dl Stinch.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
In my opinion, well, even if you can't acquire player
this year to help out with the team's playoff push,
you can acquire talent via draft picks.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
So you can't move a player and get player, get.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
Draft picks to put you in position where you can
maybe packing some picks and maybe some guys in twenty
twenty five to better your draft position, or or package
draft picks to go after another player who may not
be available you know here right now, to pick up
via trade. But the Broncos have some options. I mean,

(30:10):
they can also decide to Stan Patin, don't do anything.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
And it would to say that people are not calling
the Broncos.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
I mean, obviously with the strategy, the front office would
never ever make that known to anyone that a team
is calling around for a player, right, But but teams
do that. They're constantly looking for teams and said, well,
what's the team that is heavy in this particular positional
group that might be willing to part ways. But then

(30:37):
also you have to understand this. When you talk about contracts,
I mean drafted, I mean trading for a player, what
contract are you taking on that? That is more of
the nuts and bolts on whether the Broncos are gonna
be sellers or buyers who you're acquiring and what that's
gonna cost you.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Well, right, And that's that's sort of the thing I
like I said, I suggest today Greg Gulsitz Baron Browning
for Kyle pits trade might have throw a little draft
pick in there as well, But I would certainly be
that now Kyle Pitts would need a contract, don't need
a contract after all that you know coming down the pike,
So you have to be sure about that before you
do it. But at the same point, I think you're
getting rid of people that you're probably either not gonna
use it, not gonna pay, and getting something back that

(31:16):
you need in this offense. Sean Payton's offense has been
at its absolute best when he's got a great athlete
at the tight end position.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
But if any team is going to extend themselves out
to draft, I mean trade for a player to help
them in their playoff push, and let's say that guy
is on an expiring deal, you have to think that, well,
if you're bringing that guy in, you've done your due diligious,
you've done your research, and you've got to bring him in.

(31:43):
Odds on that you're willing to give that guy a contract,
because if you're not, why even make them.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
Move in at first?

Speaker 1 (31:48):
All right, That's That's what I'm saying, Like, you got
to be willing to do that. That is to be
part of the equation in all this as well. So
I again I advocate for a you know, trying to
move a Browning and Adulsitch and get a Carolina team
that desperately needs any kind of playmakers. I mean, excuse me,
geting Alant a team that needs any kind of playmakers.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
At the edge.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
Rush and Melsit's back might less than the blow of
losing a Kyle Pits in that system if he can
get a fresh place to work out. So you know,
I think the end of the day, to me, that
looks like a deal that I would be all about
whether or not it gets done.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
And there's just a you know, Madden pipe dreamer mains
to be said.

Speaker 4 (32:22):
So you know what, man, sometimes you may have to
go go out and get a guy who may not
be as perceive to be a high priority, but he
fits what you want to do based on their skill set.
So that way unite paying too much money and you're
not mortgaging your draft capital for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
To acquire a guy.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Tomorrow night Sam's number three.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
It's a rare Tuesday night a pair at Sam's Number
three out there at Glendale.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Will just see you guys out there. That's been all bright.
