Speaker 1 (00:00):
You've been around long enough that you've seen me eat,
and you know I can put food away.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Yeah, I have, but it's still astonishing, just like Shannon.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
Yeah, Shannon puts some food away too.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yes, Shannon gets is what does it you call whatever?
Speaker 1 (00:10):
The six Yeah, he did like he did like two
of them completed the circuit or whatever.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
And then the last time we were here, didn't you
eat like a plate of nothing but just hash browns?
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Well he was six orders of hash browns with cheese
on it, so, uh, yeah, Grant. Grant was disgusted when
I went to Taco Bell and ate the fourteen tacos.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
I think that was the one that finally disgusted.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Here, let's go into the ka commentsarate of the hotline, though,
and bring on one of our favorites who's not disgusted
except maybe when I'm talking about by eating habits.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
And that's Parker. Gabriel Parker, how are you doing this eating?
Speaker 4 (00:37):
I'mightly disgusted, but otherwise and't do it great.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Most Most people are, uh, most people are are are
flummixed by the amount of food that I can put away.
I really do, like just eat an enormous amount of food,
which is uh, you know, I guess I can thank
the metabolism, although it's caught up with me, you know,
in recent years. One thing that's not getting caught up
with right now the Broncos offense is they've faced a
depleted Saints team and depleted Panthers team but managed to
make the offense look.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
A lot more fluid.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
They've even introduced tempos that we've been talking about for
a couple of weeks. What have you noticed with the
growth and maturation of Bonux in this offense so far?
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Yeah, I mean especially I think he's sort of you know,
he's taking a step sort of each week that he's played.
And it's easy to say, oh, you know, especially over
the last six weeks when they've won five of the
games or whatever. But I think you've seen, you know,
he looks a little bit more comfortable and there's still
some things obviously, there's a lot of things he's got
to get better at, and there's a lot of room
(01:31):
to grow. But the thing that was really just jumped
out against Carolina was the play from the pocket and
sort of within structure, I guess more because some of
it was you know, they rolled him out or the
naked boot and stuff like that, but just sort of
like on time, on schedule, the way the play is designed.
They hit at a pretty high rate on that stuff.
(01:53):
And again, like some of that is because of just
like where Carolina's at, which is in a really bad
place overall. You know, you saw the legs really on
display in New Orleans. You saw the arm and the
throwing ability on display against the Panthers, and those two
things sort of combined. Not only were they more than
(02:14):
enough to win, you know, help the Broncos win those
two games, but it sort of gives you a feel for,
you know, where bo is right now as a player,
and also gives you a little bit of a glimpse
of the player that they are trying to build in
a consistent way and unlock, you know, in the future too.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Well.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
The defense has been extraordinary and they're part of why
the Broncos record is what it is. But we keep
continuing to see different players show up every single week
get somewhere different. That's why I love this defense. I
love watching him play. But there's a guy who we
really don't really talk about that much, and that's Jakwan McMillan.
(02:53):
When when you watch him play. What is it that
comes to mind as you see him move around and
make plays out there on the field.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Sometimes I watched him play and I just can't believe
that he sat on the bench for four weeks last year.
Like he's obviously gotten better, But it was just an
instant turnaround when they moved on from a sang Vaski
and put him in the lineup last year, and it coincided,
I think, if I remember right, like with Johnson Simmons
coming back and all of that, Like there were a
few things that happened around the same time. But j
(03:23):
Mack has played at a high level just literally since
they put him in the lineup, and he's gotten better.
And the thing about him this year is that he
hadn't until he made that incredible pick on Sunday, he
hadn't made a lot of the sort of eye popping
turnover type of plays this year. And it's funny because
it's something I actually talked to Jim Leonard about a
(03:45):
couple of weeks ago. And this is Jim Leonard's first
year coaching here in Denver, and so obviously it's his
first year coaching Jamax. And he said, yeah, you just
every time you're around him, you know, he wants to
make the big play. That's he's used to it. He's
good at it, that's what he does. And so when
he goes through the stretch where he hasn't made a
(04:08):
lot of you know, it's not picked, it's not forced
fumbles and all that, he's like, I remind him all
the time that he's playing great, that he's really helping
our defense, that he's doing things that not a lot
of guys can do, and to just that's fine. Just
keep doing that, don't force it. Keep doing what you're
doing in the big plays will come. And obviously we
saw it on Sunday and it just has the feeling
(04:31):
of one of those where you know, now he'll go
on a run.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
At a bunch of plays like Thatchocolate Parker Gabriel here.
You know, the Brookos wins have coincided with some depleted teams,
whether you look at the Bucks, whether you look at
the Saints, whether you look at the Panthers, but but
also have coincided with being able to run the football
more effectively and getting out there and committing to it.
As we look at both those items were coming up
(04:55):
on a team that's not very depleted, although kind of
stink against the pass.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Actually in the Baltimore.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Ravens, how do you how do you sort of attack
this team because you've you've kind of, I don't want
to say you've coasted through your last couple of games.
These are NFL football teams and you know, coast of games.
But how do you how do you sort of prepare
yourself for this next three game stretch against the Baltimore Ravens, uh,
the Kansas City Chiefs Atlanta Falcons.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Yeah, we we And I've been doing this since May.
I mean, you know, you lump Baltimore and Kansas City
and as as the back to backs on the road.
But the thing about him is they're so different. Those
those two challenges are going to be so different. I mean,
Baltimore has given up a ton of big plays, uh
this year, especially like you said, Ben in the passing game,
but they're a juggernaut offensively. And then Kansas City, like,
(05:41):
obviously they've still got that dude, and they've got Travis
Kelce and you know, they're they're trying to figure out
sort of what they are this year offensively, and it's
the defense that's been really really good, and so you know,
I think against Baltimore, Semp Payton said an interesting thing
after the game where he's like, you know, you it's
about how you win each game, and sometimes you think maybe,
(06:04):
you know, he was telling a sorry about Bill Parcels
that he came in once and thought maybe you know,
he was gonna say everyone thought he would say, well,
we've got to grind it out and hold the ball
and keep this offense off the field, and he came
in and said, we've got to out score him. And
I just sort of wonder if that's where his mind's
at with Baltimore, where you know, they know they're gonna
have to make plays in the passing game and all that.
(06:25):
I mean, I think they're better off trying to keep
Lamar and Derick Henry off the field. But I just
wouldn't be surprised if this is one of those games
where they go on the road and he presses the
ultra aggressive button from the start.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Now we've seen this Broncos offense take on a different
role or have somewhat of what I call the facelift
to get to this point, which to allow both Nicks
in the offense to stay in the rhythm, and once again,
we know Baltimore they want to run the ball and
their defense much better from a run defense standpoint than
the pass defense standpoint. Do you see somewhat of another
(07:02):
facelift for the Broncos offense when they faced Baltimore on Sunday?
Speaker 4 (07:07):
Yeah? Yeah, I mean they have. They have sort of
played quite a bit differently, and Sean Payton talks a
lot about it being a week to week league and
the game plan league, and certainly the Broncos have taken
that approach offensively this year, and I wouldn't be surprised.
The other thing about that Tampa game that stands out
is after obviously I think Boe is what four or
(07:28):
four for seventy one yards on the opening drive, it
was up up the field, down the field, you know, aggressive,
you know, pushing the ball vertically. But after that, that
was one of the games where they really got into
a pretty good rhythm of controlling the ball and being
on the field a lot, but doing it you know,
early in the game through the passing game and you know,
(07:50):
the short stuff and the intermediate stuff and all of that,
and so like to me like that that seems likely
to me, like, I just I could be wrong. I've
been wrong before when trying to figure out what, you know,
how Sean is going to call a game, or what
he thinks, you know, needs to happen in a game.
But I tend to think they're gonna come out throwing,
and I tend to think that they're going to you know,
(08:12):
one of the things they've done really well the last
two weeks against bad defenses, obviously, but one of the
things they've done that they weren't doing before that is
they've even when they don't score, they at least get
a first down or a couple first downs, they move
the ball a little bit. They have gone I don't
know that they've gone three and out outside of turnovers
the last couple of weeks. And so that to me, like,
(08:32):
I think that they think they can do that and
play that way with the passing game being sort of
the engine of that, and it wouldn't be it wouldn't
be surprising to me if that's how they tried to
play talk with.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
Parker, Gabriel Parker.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
You know a lot of people talk about the trade
deadline coming up with the Broncos should be buyers or sellers.
We talked a little bit about it this past week
with you know, potentially Baron Browning and Greg Dulsich, you know,
maybe being shopped a little bit by the Broncos. What
have you heard about that and what have you heard
about the possibility of being buyers as well?
Speaker 4 (09:04):
Yeah, I mean I think, I mean, I think honestly,
you know, just looking at it, to me like they're
gonna buy it almost It doesn't absolutely have to come
along with selling, but they have to do something because
they just really don't have a lot of you know,
flexibility capwise, and so like it could be the old
by d cell right, Like I think, you know, those
two guys you mentioned, like those are those are sort
(09:27):
of natural candidates given where the roster is. I still
don't think it just seems to me, like, take a
guy like Baron, he's had his injury history, he's a
free agent after the year, That to me feels like
one where if you deal him away because that's a
position of strength, you are just asking, you're baiting the
football gods that you're going to stay healthy at that
position the rest of the year, and it's obviously a
(09:49):
critical one. And then you know they could get Drew
Sanders back here at some point and all that and
add another guy to that room. Obviously it's been on
pup the whole year. So to me, like, I wouldn't
I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they make a move.
But you know, Chempayton has said pretty consistently that they
like the team, you know, as construed. And on top
(10:10):
of that, just with where they're at capitaliz I mean
one point six one point seven million in space, there's
they just don't have a lot of wiggle room. And frankly,
like most of the guys that they could restructure or
kick money down the road for or whatever to create
more space, like they've done it with a lot of
those guys already. And so it's not to say they
couldn't figure it out, but it just to me, I
(10:33):
don't know, you guys think I mean, to me, it
doesn't look quite as simple as saying, here's a guy
we like, here's a team that's willing to trade, let's
do it. They have to take into consideration sort of
like where their own financial constraints are at this point too.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Well, with that frame of mind and talking about consistency,
I mean, over the past two weeks, we see somewhat
of a growth or evolution of Troy Franklin, and we
know that both he and oh has someonet of connection
going back to Oregon. I mean, do you foresee that
(11:07):
potential connection continue to grow or the team put more
of an emphasis on it where they count they are
the drivers to that they put something together to tell bo, Hey,
listen on these particular plays, we want you to focus
on Troy Franklin to make sure he becomes more of
a consistent player. Do you see the team doing that?
Speaker 4 (11:28):
Yeah, that's a good question. I mean, Sean Payton talked
a lot about tags, right, like a player's tag for
this and that, and it was interesting. I thought, I'm
the one where little Jordan Humphrey ran sort of like
the cross and up and they and and both threw
it down the field to him, and it's just sort
of overthrown a little bit, like, you know, Troy Franklin
was running sort of the big over in the opposite direction.
(11:50):
I thought, looking at it, it was like, you know,
a little bit surprised. Maybe I'm sure you know LJ
was probably you know, where the play was supposed to go.
But you know, Troy ran by guy and that's that's
part of his skill set at this point, is that
he just has the ability to run past defensive backs
and not every guy that the Broncos have is is
in that camp. And so I think you'll see them
(12:14):
continue to try to find ways to get the ball
in Troy Franklin's hands. I think bow Nix will continue
to try to get the ball in Troy Franklin's hands.
And at the same time, like one of the things
that has made them effective on offense when they've been
effective on offense is that they're getting the ball to
a bunch of different players. And you know, I think
bow Knicks completed passes the ten different guys last night.
(12:36):
It was eleven against Las Vegas, I think. And so
you know they're going to keep playing, you know, the system,
Sean and the system, but obviously, like if there's a
guy who you're like, yeah, we need to get the
ball in this guy's hands more. I mean, I think
Troy Franklin, probably especially by the end of the season,
is going to be pretty close to the top of
that list.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
I guess the sub question there is is does Troy
Franklin's hands going to actually hang on to that.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, that's the thing. I mean, I
think you can say, you know, same for Marvin MEM's right.
I mean, both those guys, they're young players, and both
of them have been in position to make big plays,
and you're just sort of waiting for them to become
the guy that that when there's a play there to
be made, they figure out a way to make it.
And if either of them unlocked that ability, they can
(13:28):
be really dangerous. And if they don't, you know, they're
gonna be They're gonna be frustrating to some degree until
they do. So there's some big plays there to be made.
You'd like to see both put the ball ball a
little bit more on the money on some of them,
but certainly, you know, and especially I think with those
two guys that there are moments where you're like, Okay,
you know, you're a young guy, you're getting used to
(13:50):
this whole NFL thing, but go get the ball, you know,
and and if you do, really good things are gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Looking forward to it, looking forward to the game this weekend.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
It's going to be in thing as we watch uh uh,
you know, the the Broncos defense and the Ravens offense
square off best per play on both sides of the ball,
so that's gonna be a fun win. And of course
we got the A crew announcing that one with Nansen
Romo Parker.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
We always appreciate your time, Bud, Yeah you bet. Hav
a good week, absolutely, park Gabriel
