Speaker 1 (00:00):
Zach, don't call him Coouver with the fade seekers. Five six,
six nine zero is the text line Thursday Night football,
New York Jets at home.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Against the Houston Texans. You're cracking that up here in
just a little bit, guys.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Tomorrow forty six joined Kiwi Sports with Broncos cheerleaders for me.
Broncos at Verizon in Littleton on South Santa Fe Drive Verizones.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
So let's trade in any phone, any condition guaranteed for
a great deal on a new one, and you can
enter to wear a pit of pair of Broncos Falcons
tickets from Verizon's the official five gene network of the NFL.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Just so you know, big show tonight. Rickolea is gonna
join us six to thirty, Mike Cliss gonna.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Join us at seven oh five. Neil Welk seven thirty five.
Obviously we got the NFL six.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Pack Dodgers win the World Series.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Last night at a game that the Yankees did everything
wrong but drop a third strike and allow a run
in because they did literally everything else wrong you could
possibly do in blowing a five nothing lead at home
in Game five.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Thanks for that, Yanks. I had the Yanks and the
over in that one, so that that hurt me a little.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I to me, I mean, the top six payrolls in
baseball all made the playoffs. Baseball is a you can
buy a team sport, and it has become that as
the top two pay rolls squared off outside of the
Mats squared off and.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
For the World Series.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
And I it got me to start thinking about salary
cap type leagues.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
The NFL, the reason they have the salary cap is
to institute parody. Although it artificially deflates wages in some cases,
but it keeps parody around the league. Anybody in the league,
unless you're the Jaguars, can win in.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Every any given year, right and so, but I mean
with baseball, you don't get the same thing.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
I was a log suffering Kansas City Royals fan, which
was a de facto farm team for the Yankees for
the better part of twenty five years, and and you know,
baseball it kind of lost me after a while. Basketball
you had that, and then they put the you know,
the luxury tax in. Now they put all this other
stuff in, and I think they've gone too far in basketball.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Maybe I'm maybe I'm wrong on that.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Maybe it's just because we have the nuggets here and
we're like, qu'd like to sign a few and keep
a few of these pieces here. But it sort of
forces you to strip away championship.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
It basically eliminates the idea of a dynasty.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Which is why it is so interesting in football that
Bill Belichick and the Patriots and Tom Brady were able
to do that. But as I look at these sports,
I to cap or not to cap becomes the question.
And I don't know if you guys paid attention to
the World Series. I didn't really much other than it
was up on the you know, on the monitor here
in the studio and got a chance to watch it.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
I didn't watch anni World Series action of my house,
not one.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
I watched it here at the studio and that was
literally it. Now, Zach, you're a younger person. I don't
remember your exact age.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Twenty five. There we go. I feel incredibly old right now.
How much World how much Playoff Baseball? Did you even watch.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
Outside of what was on the monitor back in here
in the producer booth during the games, you know, and
I was working during the games or the sporty pickle.
I watched it during that that was it off the clock.
I didn't watch a second of playoff baseball any round.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Have you ever been a baseball guy, Like, has that
ever been a thing for you?

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
I mean I remember.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
I was not to make you feel old again, but
I was like seven or eight and loved October like
that was prol I was all on that. You know,
when the Rockies were good, you know, I want to say,
three four years ago, they were in like the wild
card game against the Diamondbacks.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
I check in on that.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
It's just so for you, it's the Rockies, and if
they were not, then you're not really paying attention to
baseball at a national level.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
No, Like, I'll my family's big race fans, so I'll
like kind of follow them vaguely.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
But I just didn't Tampa. Nobody's a race fan.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
It's just it's so to your point, the parody thing
just turns me off the league entirely. It just makes
it kind of uninteresting for me to fall because in
the NBA there's a parody problem too. But you can
hit on a Nicola Jokic or Larry Bird or whatever
and it's like, hey, you're you're good. It doesn't really
matter the size of your city anymore, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook,
you can.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Well, the NBA is such a players league.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Though you can have two great players and be a
great basketball team. You have two great players in baseball
and you're still maybe not there, you know. I mean,
you've got to have the pitching, You've got to have
enough of the hitting that's consistent.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Over the course of the season.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
So that's the reason that basketball has a parody problem
is because there are fifteen great players in the league
and then everybody else is just hoping to muddle through.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yeah. Well, and that's the thing.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
But as a small market, you can maybe luck upon
one of those top fifteen guys. Will I mean, you
look at a Ken Griffy junior, who one of the
most amazing talents ever couldn't will the Mariners to playoff success.
Show Heyo Tawny again, historic talent, amazing, couldn't will the
Angels to playoff success, and he had Mike Proud alongside him.
It takes it is like football, such a team sport

(04:51):
where you know, unlike basketball, you can't luck your way
out of the parody and balance.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeah, baseball for me, when they finally hit the strike.
I was a baseball obsessive growing up. I started like
baseball was.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
The thing that I was into.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
I was a huge Nolan Ryan fan I had, you know,
I was a Royal sort of fan because I came
up in Kansas City at that point in time.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
But really I had my favorites. You know. I loved
Cal Ripken. It was one of my favorite players.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Tony Gwynn, you know, was one of my favorite players,
you know, and of course George Brett and and the
and the guys from the Royals there.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
But you know, there were there were other favorite players
that I had, and I.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Was so I loved baseball, and the strike happened, and
I it's just I don't know, whatever toll it took
on teenage me at the time, it caused me to
look elsewhere and I became a basketball and football sort
of obsessive at that point.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
And basketball sort of lost me along the way.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
I think it really basketball lost me when it when
it was going through it's it's and one high ISO phase.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
You know, it was, you know, I IO basketball really
just kind of lost me at that point.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
I still liked college back basketball, but basketball sort of
lost me at that point and football never did you know.
I came up in football really during the I formation era.
That was you know, that was really what I had
my love of the game, and then watching it evolve
into what it is now, you know, I watching even
the shotgun get incorporated into the league. The shotgun was

(06:20):
such a rarely used thing, you know when I first
started watching football, and now it's you.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Know, it's it's ubiquitous.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
But I, you know, I was always curious about that
because I I definite watched a lick of baseball unless
it's on here in the studio or you mentioned that
a sporty pickle or Sam sum three or whatever, I
have not watched a lick of baseball. And I'm trying
to think back to when the last time I did.
I think the last time I made it a point
to watch baseball was that Red Sox World Series when

(06:46):
they broke the Street. I think that was the last
time I was like, Okay, I want to see if
they can do this. I think that was the last time. Yeah,
I really think that was my last time that I
was like appointment baseball. Even when the Royals finally broke
for you know, I was kind of like, well, it's
on in the studio, you know, I'll watch it, that
kind of thing. But it was like at that point,
my just the love of baseball had waned. I'm such

(07:07):
a such a football guy at this point, and you know,
between college and the pro game, I just don't I
don't know, it.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Just doesn't doesn't do it for me. Five sixty six
nine zero. Interested to you, you guys opinion on the
salary cap portion of that. That was a long winded
way to say. I'm not sure that.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
I'm not sure that I'm anti or pro salary cap,
but after watching baseball basically just be by a team,
it's less for me, and I'm all about the salary
cap in those particular situations. We got a game coming
up against the Baltimore ravens Lamar Jackson miss practiced for
the second straight day with what they're terming me in
back issues, although we have managed to suss out that

(07:46):
is actually a growing issue.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Lamar, to my knowledge from what I was told, is
still expected to play.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
It could be limited and could be pulled if it's not,
you know, feeling well. Because they have a Thursday night
Division game Againstincinnati Ooda coming up, right after that game.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
So interesting to kind of keep your eye on.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
If you're the betting person, you might just take a
flyer on Broncos plus ten nine and a half whatever
it is. Now he's got a bounce some back forth.
Might take a flyer on that, just to take a
flyer on it. You can always arbit later, but that's
that's one that uh uh, you kind of kind of
keep an eye on. Thursday Night Football about to kick off,
Jets and the Texans. I've got the Jets in that one,

(08:29):
backs against the Wall. They lose this, their their season
is effectively over, and I think a lot of people
are thinking that will provide the motivation to sort of
sort of get them going. But shouldn't they have already
had that motivation. I mean, they've given their quarterback everything.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
He wants.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
One more friend, just get one more, get him one
more friend, getting the band back together.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Where's Randall Cobb right now? We will get Randall Cobb. Yeah,
you can get him off the couch. Or Jordy Nelson.
Jordy Nelson's not sure. He's not doing anything. Aj Dillon,
see you see around. Was that guy Jeff Channis?

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Was he the guy that that's a good that's a
deep cut right there. I remember all the hype about
him that was that was hilarious. Yeah, I mean, you
gave everything to Aaron Rodgers. He pushed all in on that.
You fire the head coach that he's not getting along with,
You bring in DeVante Adams, which is superfluous, another receiver,

(09:24):
and you still go out there and proceed to not
be the team that you need to be in terms
of being able to win football games. Part of that
is on the kicking game. Greg Stirline has not looked good.
They've got a new kicker out there. It's it's just
been interesting to watch as the Jets don't have there's

(09:49):
something missing to it. There's something whatever it is, there's
something missing to it. It's not you know, I mean,
Aaron Rodgers. The skill set has degraded. But it's not
like he's terrible now. I mean, this isn't Aaron turning
into eight manning that final Super Bowl run season.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
He's not as nearly as mobile as.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
He used to be, but he could still make, you know,
the throws and it's not like the arm strength has
has fallen off or you know, any of those kinds
of things. As I look at this, I remember when
they added DeVante Adams and I said, well, it's just
like buying a radio for the Titanic. Sure, you know,
I guess you don't have to have the band playing,
And it sounds better, but it doesn't fix the problems

(10:26):
that they have.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
It's an undisciplined football team.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
They can't stop the run, which tonight is going to
present an interesting challenge with Joe Mixon there for the
Houston Texans. But yeah, they're you know, DeVante Adams isn't
the missing piece in New York is frankly has been
proven so far.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, so much is wrong with this team.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
And I think when your foundation is one of defense,
and you take away a really good defensive coach from
the operation with Robert Sala, and then a sensibly takeaway
too because now Jeff Robrick, who is running that defense
and doing a great job with it, one of the
the fastest rising coaches in the sport right now. You know,

(11:04):
now his full attention isn't on that defense. It's being
split between that and a role he hasn't done at all.
And this isn't a Vic Fangio type that's been around
for twenty thirty years and knows the different roles.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
It's I'm not.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
Surprised that the defense has back slit a ton, and
I think that's the main reason why even post robints Holli,
they're struggling.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Five six, six, nine zeros A text, a lot, a
lot of good texts coming in already. Seven two O
says is because Hacket's a hack Well, Hackett got demoted.
It's Todd Downing running the offense now for the New
York Jets. The three six elsa is get Joe Rogan
on the Jets. I don't even know what that means,
but at this point, I mean, try anything.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Friend.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Oh, I get it, Roger's friend. Yeah, that's thank you,
good job. I three six Al'm so sorry I whipped
on that one. Three six also said I started watching
football in nineteen forty five. They didn't have the eye
formation in nineteen forty five, Sir Big shipwreck, Kelly Fan.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
They were running the Yeah, they were running the wing tee,
the flex bone.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Someone says, for me, listening to a baseball game on
the radio beats watching it on TV. The announcers will
fill the airtime with the old baseball stories. That you
would never hear on TV. Yeah, I think as far
as baseball announcers go, the only ones that the only
one I really enjoyed was when Bob Buker was doing it.
For those of you don't remember, I mean, he still

(12:22):
does stuff for the Milwaukee Brewers, and I think.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
He still does stuff with the Walky Bruers. Was up
until recently.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Radio wise, Bob Buker was on Mister Belvidere, the television show.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
I'll never forget getting to see him.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Yeah, way before your time, SEC, I'll never forget getting
to see Bob Bucher.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
I came back from Iraq, I think it.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Was the second time, and me and some buddies were
in Chicago and we went to steakhouse or whatever, went back.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
To ourtel and we got on the elevator.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Here's Bob Buker, and and I'm gonna try and tell
the story without saying something I should on the air.
But yeah, as Zach primes for the dump button there,
I I said, holy bleep, it's Bob Bucker. And I'm
carrying like a thirty pack of Miller light right here.
As we're head up, Joe, tell him and uh, Bob
Buker looks his dead ye where.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
He was. He was just a funny guy. And I
always thought.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
That his anecdotes it made baseball fun to watch because
he was self effacing. They were talking about some player
and he got drafted like one hundred and sixtieth round,
and Bob Bucher's like, that's better where I got drafted.
And they were like, well where was that. He's like
into the army and so, you know, I mean, he
just had fun. He just made baseball funny and fun.
It wasn't stodgy and too buttoned up like a lot
of these baseball announces. I think we have a great

(13:37):
a great crew for the Rockies. Uh In when Jack
and Jerry do it, I think they do a great job.
It's not you know, it's it's not just ultra button
down stuff. You get these nice anecdotes, these nice stories,
and they're sort of a there's sort of a pastoral,
you know, sort of element to the way.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
That they do things.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
And I kind of dig that. So I love, uh
I love when we get a chance to talk to
Jack Corgan. So it was always a lot of fun.
We will have Mike Cliss joining us a little bit
later to be seven o five. I'm going to talk
about his new book, The Lway Years. Rick Le's going
to join us in the next segment. Get a chance
to check in with him, see what he's he's hearing us.

(14:14):
He gets ready for this Baltimore game on Sunday. Neil
Olkson to join us at seven thirty five, talk a
little bit of.

Speaker 4 (14:22):
See you.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
In there, and I want to get into.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
What we're looking at in this in this Baltimore football game,
because we are.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
This is a fascinating matchup.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
If Lamar Jackson is hobbled and unable to go all
of a sudden, this looks like a winnable game for.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
The Denver Broncos. Yeah, that would be a game changer.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
He's maybe I mean, he's a two time MVP and
this is maybe the best season of his career at
the level he's been at a remarkable.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Well, and what he does helps open things for Derrick Henry.
I mean, having those legs, having a spy play it
outside contain it frees up rushing lanes for Derrick Henry
and we've seen them take advantage of that.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
You know, we seen what Baltimore is able to do
Baltimore is not the.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Same team that they were the loss of Michael McDonald
has a retavoc in their secondary. That secondary can't stop
and one of the worst teams in the league against
the pass. One of the worst teams in the league.
A Baltimore Ravens defense one of the worst teams in
the league against the pass right now. They can stop
the run, they got a front seven, it's pretty stout,
but they man, they cannot stop the pass to save

(15:24):
their lives right now, and I think that's a fascinating matchup.
They do, they are able to get some pressure muddy
up the pocket, so it's going to be interesting to
see how bo does with that. Although most of their
defensive lines hurt and b uk is the only one
that that's healthy right now, their entire defensive line, So
that's gonna be another thing to sort of keep.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
Your eye on.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
As the Broncos, who have sort of stayed healthy and
are winning battles of attrition against the Saints and the
Carolina Panthers, maybe you catch Baltimore at the right time,
you know, I mean, you still have guys like me
sitting there like well, they didn't be the team of
full strength.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
But at the other day, you play what's put in
front of you.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
And if you get to beat up Baltimore team as shorttheaded, hey,
she still counts as a.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Win in the win column.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (16:08):
No one's expecting a lengthy playoff run from this team.
Everyone would be excited if they somehow even made the playoffs.
So who cares if they're you know, this year's Minnesota
Vikings or New York Giants that stumble into the playoffs
and get waxed by twenty you know, let it happen.
Let's get those easy wins and then start stockpiling them.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Yeah, I am.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
I'm looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to the
game this weekend. Let's get a chance talk to Rick
Lewis when we get back Broncos Country Night back after this, Rick,
how's it.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Going man, Hey man, it's it's good man. Thanks for
having me on. You know what, I am the funk
master of iHeart Denver. But I don't think I've ever
heard that Bootsie Collins Halloween saw. Yeah, that's a new
one for me.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
The monster mash. Yeah, the Booty Collins version Bootsy of course.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Who I tailor my own style after so you know,
you kind of.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Kind of can get to go with that, Rick. We
got a fun game coming up.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson miss two days of practice
with the team is calling knee and back issues, although
we know it's actually a growing issue. If Lamar is
hobbled in or unable to go, what does that do
for your optimism that Denver can go to the East
Coast and take another one.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Yeah, it's starting to feel like Denver could be catching
a break here. And I'm glad you pointed out the
growing core injury, which is what was reported by insiders
on Wednesday early in the day and then all of
a sudden it became a back and knee injury. So
I'm glad you puted that up. I was going to

(17:42):
ask you, as our NFL insider, what you're hearing, so
thanks for clarifying that for me. I think this could
turn out to be a trap game for the Ravens
because of a short week playing the Bengals next Thursday.
And if Lamar Jackson is seriously has a groin core injury,

(18:05):
you know that could be really debilitating for a running quarterback.
And even if he plays hurt, I think it gives
us a much better chance of winning. And vance Chosa
said today that he's going to play, and I would
guess he probably is, but if he's going to play
hurt this is looking like the game that the Broncos

(18:27):
could could steal from the Ravens. And nobody is expecting
them to win. You know, they're almost double digit dogs
in this game. Vegas doesn't like the Broncos in this game.
But the more I look at it, Ben, this looks
like a game they can win. With bow Nick performing
the way he's been playing the last couple of weeks.

(18:47):
If he can play up to that level again on
Sunday and the Broncos defense plays like they've been playing
all year, I think if the Broncos can score maybe
twenty four twenty seven points somewhere in there, they win
this football game. So I'm feeling much much better about it.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
The betting public at large feeling better as well. The
Broncos line out to was plus ten and a half
as of yesterday, is already back to plus.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Eighty two and a half point swing the.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Other directions, So the betting public feeling good about the
Denver Broncos chances on the road against the Baltimore Ravens.
Catching teams at the right time. And I've talked about this.
I don't want to take anything away from what Denver
has done, but you caught a New Orleans Saints team
that's without their quarterback and five or six of their
best players. You caught the Carolina Panthers without six of

(19:37):
their players. Of course, they were very talented to start with.
You beat the Tampa Bay Bucks, who are missing six
defensive starters when you played them. Now you're getting a
Ravens team that has one defensive lineman healthy.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
And possible quarterback issues.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Look, I'm not one to question the football gods, but
it looks like we're catching all these teams at the
right time.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
Well, I think it's about time we catch a little
break from the football guy. Man, it's been a tough stretch,
you know, and all the injuries that Broncos typically have
dealt with over the last several years, and all the problems.
We don't have to go into that, but it just
kind of feels different this year. It feels like this
is breaking their way almost from week to week, at

(20:18):
least lately. Here last five or six games. It just
feels like finger going to Broncos direction. And like I said,
if Lamar Jackson is hurt, if he's out, I think
the Broncos have an excellent chance to win the game.
But even him playing hurt gives him a legit shot
to win this game. They've got all kinds of other issues,

(20:39):
injuries on both sides of the ball, their secondary, their
D line, the rookie Wright tackle has really struggled in
pass pro, so that's another thing to watch. That's another
matchup to watch on Sunday. Guys like Jonathan Cooper and
Nick Bonito gets their right tackle. I was feeling pretty

(21:02):
darn good about this game, and I never thought I
would say that just a couple of days ago.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Yeah, it certainly looked like it was going to be something,
you know, it certainly looked like it was going to
be something of a blowout, or at least was expected
to be something of a Baltimore blow out. Talking with
Rick Lewis here Colorados for the Denver Broncos, Rick, I,
you knows, as we start to get into the season,
Vegas doubted the Broncos.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
They had him a five and a half win total
for the season. That looks like it's a mortal lock
at this point to probably hit the over.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
Bo Nicks was laughed at us. They said, the sixth
quarterback taking is this guy? You've ready for the league now?
He's offensive rookie of the Month this past month. A
defense that the people slept on. I pointed out, you know,
a training campaign, this defense is going to sneak up
on people.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
They're not sneaking up on anybody anymore.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
The one of the top defenses in the league are
the Denver Broncos back.

Speaker 4 (21:49):
Yeah, I feel like they I you know, I said
this several weeks ago. I do feel like they turned
the corner. O'shan Pate certainly is the culture, and I
do feel like they have turned the corner. Finally. It's
starting to look like bon Nicks could be their franchise quarterback.
I still want to see more. But when you look

(22:09):
at the way he's played in the last month you
just mentioned he was the NFL's Rookie Player of the Month.
He's come a long ways. That Seattle game and the
Steeler game, by the way, and he just seems to
be getting more comfortable, better and better. It turns out
Peyton's a pretty damn good coach. It turns up Sean Payton,

(22:31):
maybe the quarterback whisperer that we thought he was. This
is gonna be a really fun game to call in
to watch Sunday. And I love the fact that the
Broncos are underdogs. I love the fact that nobody expects
him to win. You know, keep that chip on your
shoulder man in Vegas. Vegas hasn't bought in yet. If
they beat the Ravens Sunday, Vegas is going to buy in.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
And that'll set up an interesting matchup at Kansas City.
And then with the Falcons coming here, top three games,
stretch any which way you slice of the Broncos will
take any breaks that they can get. As we look
at this Ravens matchup, you know, even without you know,
even if lamar Is is hobbled, you still have Derrick Henry,
who's quite adept at running the football, even at thirty
plus years old. Now they've they've started to discover the

(23:17):
pass game with both tight ends. They've had Zave Flowers
and even Bateman going off lately. That offense looks like
it's rounding into form. Who are the Broncos who they're
going to have to step up in this game.

Speaker 6 (23:27):
If they're going to get to win, well, you know
they're going to really have to be a disciplined in
their gap responsibility because Dereck Henry can kill you.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
Lamar Jackson can kill you. Dereck Henry on pace for
another two thousand yard season. So everybody, the entire eleven
guys on defense. You know, your interior lineman who've been
playing at a really high level, your inside linebackers, your
pass rush, everybody's really confident in the back end of
this Broncos defense He's got. They're legit. We've been saying

(24:01):
that all year long. These guys are legit on defense.
They're gonna keep them in every game. I think they'll
keep them in this game even if Mr Jackson plays
on Sunday. They'll keep this game close enough where if
they don't turn the ball over on offense and they
can create a turnover at too, they got a good
shot of winning this game. I'm just feeling better and
better about it. Man. I don't want to get, you know,

(24:23):
too optimistic or too far out there on that limb,
but as each day goes by, I'm feeling better or
better about this game.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
You guys heard it here first, Rick Lewis, and take
the Broncos late twenty points. They're going to absolutely blow
out the Ravens in this one. That's Rick Lewis guarantee.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
By the way, you could take it up with your
Colorados records there, Rick's Halloween.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
So I'd be remissify to ask you what scares you
about this game, Barrick Henry.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
You know, like if Jackson plays, he's going to be
playing hurd Derrick Henry is a nightmare and even at
his age, with all the miles on this guy, it's
hard to believe that he's still playing at this level.
I mean, they're gonna have to tackle well, they can't
be missing tackles in this game, you know, and they

(25:12):
have to be disciplined and if you can slow him down.
I'm looking at this as a game where I think
bow Knicks will be counted on to win this game
for the Broncos. On offense, the Rivens do have a
stout run defense. They're horrible their past defense, their back
end has been terrible, and they give up a lot
of points. They give up twenty six points a game.

(25:35):
So that's why I'm thinking if Broncos can score twenty
four to twenty seven and they just slow down Dereck
Henry and Lamar Jackson, that will be enough to win
the game. That I think Derrick Henry is gonna be
the guy. You can't let him be the game record.
All these guys, man, they better show up. They better
be ready to tackle this big dude and just slow

(25:58):
him down. Man, if he can just keep him under
a hundred yards, I think you got a pretty good shot.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
That would be a monumental task, but I think the
Broncos are up to the challenge. Rick, looking forward to
the call with you and Dave Logan on Sunday right
here on KOA.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
I appreciate you taking the.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Time always, good man. And you know what, if anybody
has someplace we could go on our off day Saturday
in Baltimore, let me know. You know, I don't I'm
not familiar with the city. I don't know what you're
doing Baltimore for fun on an off day. We're looking
at maybe one of those Russian Banyas, you know, those

(26:36):
those Russian spas. Maybe bring the whole crew.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
I've here.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Josh Reynolds may have some suggestions for places you can
go after hours.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
You may not want to.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
Take those, but we'll see, Rick, I'll see if I
can get those till you appreciate your time as always.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
Man, all right, man, thanks, Man, have a good night.

Speaker 2 (26:51):

Speaker 4 (27:18):
Who you uh?

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Who do you have next?

Speaker 5 (27:20):
You know what's funny is I realized I never posted
that fantastic so I will do that probably next week.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
Okay, yeah I do. I was like, well, I can't
download it. I don't know if there's something going on here, so.

Speaker 5 (27:30):
Yeah, I moved to an every other week formatt and
then the every other week I forgot to post it.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
So I'm just moving on to the next.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Every other week fantastic, But Big Al still available to
listen to right now. That's right, and I am definitely
not taking for granted that I'll get a new episode
here soon.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Five sixty six nine zeros and text line.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Aaron Rodgers currently zero for four passing in the Jets game,
wondering if that's too much guy and pepper not enough.
For those who don't know, Aaron Rodgers suggested he's discovered
the Fountain of Youth thanks to Thomas Morstead, who is
consuming cayenne pepper diluted in water as supposedly the fountain
of youth. For those of you who don't know, there

(28:08):
are some small benefits to consuming cayenne pepper in very
limited doses that it will help with inflammation and things
like that.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
The reality is, though these diet pills or any of
these high.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Dose cayenne pepper stuff, we'll put your line for an
irregular heart beat has been known to cause myocardioli forunctionnes,
So if you're looking for an irregular heart beat and
the risk of heart attack, definitely follow Thomas Morstead's home
remedy that Aaron Rodgers is whole hardly endorsing.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
Wait, so you mean cayenne pepper isn't the secret to
eternal youth?

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Apparently not shock I was. There are some health benefits
to cayene pepper and small doses. I don't want to
confuse people on it. There are in small doses. But
the reality is is we have many studies I posted
several the other day that in large doses it's very detrimental.
And you know, unregulated amounts are not good for people
to be able to start consuming. Now you see these
diet pills with mega cayenne pepperin them and all this

(29:03):
kind of stuff horrible for you, So don't buy everything
you believe. Roger's early zero for four passing with as
you no doubt I have guessed the zero yards c. J.
Stroud not much better three on eight for thirty one
as the game is off to a defensive start or
maybe a lack of offensive start, however you want to
put it in this one so far on Thursday night

(29:25):
football Jets backs against it for the season. They need
to win this football game and they are at home.
Every advantage there for them as well. We've got a
couple of guests coming up here. The next hour, Mike
Kliss is going to join us. Get a chance to
talk about his new book, The Elwie Years. It's got
a forward by Mike Shadahan, get a chance to dive

(29:47):
into that with him. We've got Neil Welk coming up.
Bottom of the argums, just talk about see you and what
they're doing see You. It's funny to me how overrated
CU was for a while, especially last year, and then
kind of how underrated they become, and now we're shifting
back to almost the properly rated portion of our programming

(30:09):
as the national media sort of catch up. I remember
Paul Fine bomb out there unceremonious leading claring the sea
was irrelevant, which is weird to me because they're very relevant.
Whether you thought they were gonna make the playoffs or not,
they started to get talked about all the time.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Now they've kind of got a direct pipeline to potentially
may be making the playoffs. And oh, by the way,
a real Heisman contender in Travis Hunter maybe the favorite
right now.

Speaker 5 (30:34):
Gent's numbers have come back to the pack a little
where the Iowa guys like in the same ballpark as him.
The UCF Kid as well, but Travis Hunter is the
only one that really stands out is a unique case
at this point.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
Yeah, it's fascinating because cam Ward is still a betting favorite,
Bill and Gabriel cam Ward is still the betting favorites
that I saw, But Travis Hunter is to me like
this is not even a contest.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
So we're gonna chance to talk to Neil Welke about
that here in just a minute.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
But up next, we've got Mike Chliss joining us right
here on Broncos Country tonight.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Don't go anywhere, we'll be back right for this
