Speaker 1 (00:00):

Nick Ferguson, Grant Smith got the old school D Denver
shirt on Big Game This weekend Boys Breaking out the
Big Guns five six, six nine zero is the text
Limpic show tonight. Rob Long gonna be along at six thirty.
Talk a little bit about the the Raven. Samantha Pravini
eight oh five, small prop bets, fantasy advice, all that
(00:20):
kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Be good to ask. Samantha back finally on the show, looking.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Forward to that.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Nick, we are officially at no shave November, and it
seems you shaved.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
I sure did.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
I h How was your Halloween?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Halloween was was great?
Speaker 4 (00:39):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (00:39):
I dressed up as.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
Like a Navy seal, like like a black Ops Navy seal,
all blacked out, I mean, with my skin complex and
that's not hard to do.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
But just that smile.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Yeah, but yeah, it was.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
It was great. Triggers treading has changed a lot. And
the reason I say that is because I was taking
you know, my young kids around trick or treating, and
teenagers are now trick or treating obviously by themselves because
they're teenagers. But I mean we just ran across this
very rambunctious group of teenagers and it was like thirteen
(01:17):
of them, like a gang. Well, no, I didn't say
a gang. I said, well, I said it was given
thirteen of them. What was It's interesting that you said
the gang because there were four of those kids who
were dressed in orange jumpsuits. Oh okay, yes, which I
was like, it's Halloween, so hey, just do you. But
(01:39):
it was really interesting because they were really live bunch.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
As you you can look at my face that listens
I can't see.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Yes, it were very energetic and energy in the words
that they chose to use. Like if I had some
ear muffs I could have used at the time, like
real noise canceling, I would have used it. But I
had to use my hands to put over my kid's
ears because, yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
It was.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
It was very vibrant.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Did you say, like, hey man, language kids?
Speaker 5 (02:13):
You know what?
Speaker 3 (02:13):
I didn't.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
I had to fight the urge to do it because
my wife was standing there and she kind of gave
me that look like something like don't get involved. Like
she gave me the first look like this is not cool.
The second look was like don't you say what I
think you are going to She could see the wheels.
She could see them, so I just tried to play
(02:37):
it safe. But that's something I didn't notice.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
But the second year to row, she could see the
headlines already.
Speaker 6 (02:43):
Former Broncos player Nick Ferguson throws over gateorade table and
beats up thirteen young gang members who were being a
little too lively.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Well you know what, probably she.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
Saw it too, and once I looked at her, the
headlines and the ESPN taker crossed cross my eyes too,
as well as like, you know what, this continue on
our path, this stay on the other side of the street,
or we're gonna act as though this didn't happen even
though we saw it.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
So I tried to make the best of it. But
it was all good.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Now.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
I don't know about you guys, but.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
We we did start doing this thing with our kids
when it came to trick or treating, Like we would
buy the candy from our kids, right.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Instead of just stealing that like my parents did. Yeah,
I mean, at least she got to go trigger treating.
I wouldn't even get to go treat treating.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
You didn't get his hist I had.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
A highly religious upbringing and I was not. We did
not halloweenath it was yeah, we did not.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Oh yeah, we did not participate at all.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
So the first time I ever went trigger treating, I
was like twenty one, twenty two years old.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Then you're pretty much out of the age range. My
friends found out that I had never been.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
My friends in college found out that I had never been,
and so that was the thing they took me on
to go trigger treating.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
I would say, they get you a nice robbin costume.
NA did not, did not. I just thought, yesterday though,
that's what the handsomest man alive. Oh you missed on
that one.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
I thought it was the same guy today.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
I'm just wondering it would have been at twenty one
years old.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Was drink So when you were at twenty.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Years old and you walk up to someone's door, that
just saw a bunch of kids come away.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Robin the way they could have assumed I was a teenager.
Look at that baby face.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Yes, you didn't have hair on your face. So yeah,
you know what now that you say you probably fit.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
In, I mean I could still pass for your danger
It's whatever, except for the fitting hair on top. I know.
I yeah, I just didn't really have much of that
growing up. My dad was a very very.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Religious man, and so we just did not do any
of that.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Well, you know what, Hey, I'm glad that you found
out in your twenties what you miss every year.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
It's weird, but you know, as a as an adult,
just knocking on doors, y'all get the candy.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
That's weird that I do it year round, not just
on Halloween.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
So you know what, here's here's what I love about
Halloween is because you can tell a lot about a
person's personality with the costume that they wear. Like you
may see someone at work every single day, and you
may only see them as that person.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Then you get the costume.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
The costume comes. That's that's free expression. Now someone's dressing
up as Monstra Man, Brandy Savage talking about slapping to
a swim.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Jim Right always bore at with the weird green Joy.
You know, at twenty years old, I was talking.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
About Now that sounds about right, that sounds exactly.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Costume my war. I was iron Man. I was iron Man.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
You were iron Man.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
You basically are iron I mean I'm basically going to
Robert Downey Junior take on the characters. So I had
two great cons.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
Oh.
Speaker 7 (06:01):
You we have a huge block party every year at
High University and like people from all over the state
come in. It's like twenty thousand people fill the downtown
area and you dress up in college no matter what,
like that's what you do on Halloween weekend. I went
one year as Joe Dirt with a cutoff jean shorts,
and then the next year I went as Napoleon Dynamite
with the vote for Pedro shared on and the red Wig.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
The last the last one I did was we were
in London for the game a couple of years ago
and I was just James Bond spoofing the British character,
and my buddy Paul.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Went as, uh, what's the Tiger King or whatever. Yeah,
he had the exotic Yes.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
You had the wig and the and he had this
giant stuffed tiger and we took it. And I'm telling you,
dude was a hit everyone. Because they don't celebrate Alloween
over there just like the same way we do. It's
like a recently, yeah it's not as big a deal,
like it's it's.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Becoming weird Americans.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
I mean sort of it's becoming a deal over there.
Like he was telling me.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
In recent years, so there wasn't a lot of people
like dressed up, but he was dressed up with and
he had the whole and dude was the hit of
of everything.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Everybody was like, oh my god, it's a tiger ging
with the you know when people were stopping us for
pictures with his stuffed tiger and stuff. Yeah, it was hilarious.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
The British, I tell you, it's stopping you because someone's
dressed as a Tiger King.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
He looked just like he had the he had the
I mean, he looks like him.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Well, well you really think about it to get your picture.
The Tiger King is just.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Like he looks like Joe Dirt, just with the muscles,
you know, with the food man.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
He's like a real life version of Dirt exactly.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
And so I mean the dude, my buddy, who by
the way, is British, but he looked just like looked
just like him, had the wig, had the hat, had
the Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
It was yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Now you said you were dressed up as Iron Man, right, Uh.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
That was James Bond.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
No, No, but you said I did iron Yeah, I did
the Iron Man costume, but I had I didn't have
the helmet on.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
I just did the down Okay, so because because that
was gonna be my question was it? Was it iron
Man or was it just telling you really?
Speaker 4 (07:56):
No, no, they're no, no, no, they're different. See iron
Man is the suit only starts as the guy.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
In this Okay.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
I did half of the suit with no helmet. Okay,
so I was trying to pull off both. Okay, terrifying.
It couldn't mess up. The hair was feather than lea.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
You couldn't mess out.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Geez five six six tex side, You guys would get
involved in the conversation. We got election coverage coming up next week,
next Tuesday, weve election covers, live election covers right here
six to whenever, really right here on Kiawei.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
So the won't be anybct that night. Just heads up
on that.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
But we do in the interim, have a game coming
up in Baltimore, and it.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Looks like Lamar is going to be a full go.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Now it's just back at practice today with a growing
issue which was termed as a knee and back issue
apparently in the media, but it was a growing issue.
What can we what can we expect out of this
Baltimore Ravens matchup.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
Well from the Baltimore Ravens. You know it's just going
to be downhill, physical run game and they're going to
try to find a way to crease the Broncos defense.
And the one thing that I've learned by watching Derrick
Henry play in his career is that even though he
doesn't look like he's running fast, he definitely packs a punch.
(09:11):
And hopefully the idea was coach all week long that
you need, like on any given field, you have eleven
defensive players anytime that Lamar Jackson gets the ball and
more impolling Dereck Henry gets the ball, you need as
many guys in the frame as possible. So this is
not gonna be one of those games where you have
(09:33):
guys diving at his legs. You're gonna have to make
a sacrifice and that might mean he may run you over,
yeah right, but you may have to be the speed
bump for someone else to make the tackle.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
I'm so thankful I'm not a defensive player for the
never Broncos this weekend. It's a month of Thanksgiving and
I'm already giving thanks that I don't have to be
the speed bump for Derrick Henry.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Well, just think about like when I play, you had
guys like Adrian Peterson, you had Corey Dillon, Bettison, Jerome Battis, right,
Marshawn Lynch.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
So you couldn't dodge these guys, Fred Jackson.
Speaker 6 (10:07):
But what's going through your head when you got someone
like that beast mode running down at you and you're like,
all right, what's going through your head? Is Nick ferguson
the safety whoa coming up to make that play?
Speaker 4 (10:19):
The idea is you don't think, you just react because
just think about it, like if you were going through
a haunted house, right, you have moments to think. That's
what terrifies you when someone jumps out, or you're watching
a scary movie that's a jump scare, right. But with
these types of things, you don't have time for that.
You have to say, you know what, well, at least
(10:41):
this is what I've said to myself. It's going to hurt, right,
we know it's going to hurt. You have to decide
how much.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
It's going to hurt. This is why when I played
against teams like a.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Baltimore that loves to run the ball, the first thing
I'm watching when I'm looking at film what saw of
the offensive line? Do they run some of the more
impact for runs? Is there a guard who pulls the line,
Because if I am supposed to be at twelve, as
far as my depth, I'm a line at fourteen. And
the reason I'm aligning on at fourteen is going to
(11:15):
give me a time to read the play and then
I'm gonna walk down to twelve. So as I'm walking down,
I'm walking right down into the action. So if I
see a tight end guard pull, I'm gone because you know,
you know.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
I could get smashed by the guard. You're gone. As
then you're running like the roadrunner.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
I gotta beat the guard before he gets around the
edge because if I don't, either the guard is gonna
run me over or the.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Running back and that and now I'm not trying to
be on anyone's highlight.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Yeah me either. Did you did you ever play at
Jamal Lewis?
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Yes, yea.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
There are a lot of people that Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Okay, so I played against jamalm my first time when
we were we played in Baltimore. And man, when you
talk about he was outside of his uniform, right and
when you see him in his uniform you like, man. Well,
then when you run into him for the first time,
(12:09):
you go like, this dude is solid. You start going
back to the huddle talking to other people like, look,
we're going to have.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
To tackle him together as a unit.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Like you ever seen like those wildebeests or whatever in
the Serengeti when they're trying to cross the wilderness, the
water whatever. They got to compete with the crocodiles, and
then once they get up there, you have the lions
that they have to content with as well, And you've
seen where it's like like lioness and lions, all on
us will be trying to bring it. That's what it
(12:41):
needed to be. It had to be. We needed all
of us to bring that person down. And we've heard
this phrase say before about running backs. If you don't
hit them often and early, they're going to get stronger
as the game goes on. So then I took a
helmet to the chess from Corey Dillon because Corey Dillon
(13:05):
had this way when defenders started to make impact and
did you start to gather your arms, he would turn
sideways and turn his helmet and run into you.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
And one time he caught me in my.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Sternom and when I said say that my sternome was bruise.
Yes about him. I mean I didn't want to laugh.
I didn't want to burt hell. I didn't even want
to fart, right because that chess was hurt. It was yes,
it was Yes, it was that type of thing and
(13:38):
you grabbed me your chest and people are like, what's
wrong with you?
Speaker 3 (13:40):
But it was that type of thing.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
But the Broncos are gonna need to rally as a
defensive unit to make sure that it's not like two
people trying to bring down Derrick Henry.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
Yeah, it's that's uh, that's gooddy you Uh, Unfortunately we're
on the wrong end of the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Yankees World, bring that up.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
We were just capping everything and it was it was
better night for New York last night. As the Jets
got on track against the Houston Texans. I don't know
how much of the game you watched, Darren. Maybe didn't
put enough Kayae Pepper in the water early, I don't know,
but they came out in the second half.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
And took care of business.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
Well, God, let me back up and just kind of
talk about the Dodgers game. Kudos and hats off to
the Dodgers. Heliver franchise. So many players love Mookie Betts,
but the guy, and we watched here in the studio,
Freddie Freeman just kind of constantly dismantled the Yankees. And
(14:40):
I I mean I tweeted directly at you know, Freddy Freeman,
and I just I just called him five nights at
Freddy's because that's exactly who he was to the Yankees.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
He was a nightmare.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
And I think it was it was a fan who
was holding up the sign something to the fact of,
you know, kind of like please stop Freddy.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
But look, man, kudos to the Yankees.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
They were able to get there. A lot of teams
didn't get there. But you know, you beat by a
better team and there's nothing wrong with that. But as
far as the game last night between the Giants and
the Texans, you and I talked about it. I think
a day before we knew it was gonna be a
tough game for the Texans, considered that they had so
many guys who were injured from a wide receiver standpoint.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Right, and college really is the stir that stirs that year.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
He is, like, you know, everybody talks about CJ.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Stroud, Bobby Sloyd, Nico Collins is a huge part of
what they're able to do in Houston. Having him out
and then digs on top, it's really hurting him.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
It really it's hurting him as well. But here's the
other thing that is happening.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Like that first year of Bobby Sloyd and CJ. Stroud,
it's almost like they took the league by storm like
no one, like no.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
One could figure out what they were doing.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Amazing when you get your tape on somebody.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
Now, so many things have changed. The office not looking
the same way that it used to. And luckily for
the Texans they do have a guy like Joe Mixon
that gets they could turn around a hinded to But
that Texans offensive line in comparison to what they looked
like last year been they do.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Not look the same.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
I think it was I watched Hassan Reddick who for
some reason, like Hassan was out, he missed Ota in
his training camp.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
He missed the first and then then he just he
comes back.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Then he hums around the edge on Larry Tomsu and
I was just like, what was that?
Speaker 3 (16:21):
And I'm sure c J.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
Straud was saying the same thing because he ended up
on his back a lot.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Yeah, he was getting uh, he was getting pretty punched
uplast night.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
It's kind funny because the Jets were the one that
had a lot of offensive line attrition.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
They had four tackles starting at one point.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
And how you gotta think about.
Speaker 4 (16:36):
It, that's really difficult because if you playing tackle.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Would never play guard at any level.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
Think about the footwork required to do that.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Very very difficult, yes, exactly.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
But you know what.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
Last night, I mean, Gary Wilson, dude, the jump man.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Oh my god, they gonna have to reduce jump.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
The one hand grabs were amazing.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
And then this is why I tell people even when
Davante Adams was with the New York Jets. For me, now,
I don't know how you feel about this, he is
the best route runner by far in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
I put that up there in the NFL. I mean,
Allen's probably close out. I like Keenan, but.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
But but this guy, because it's pause and hesitation and
a lot of receivers use that kind of the basket.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Hit the dead leg, he is the best.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
I'm with you on NET, I would say that newke
has the best catcher radius, or atleast used to and
then Davante is probably the sharpest runt, right, that's probably fair.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
We got a big show tonight, and.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
We actually Smith BRAIDI a little bit later, long for
one to five seven of the fan in Baltimore. Up
next Brockles Country tonight five six six nine zero is
the text line. Quite a few texts rolling in here.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
Earlier.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Somebody asked if the Secretary of State is related to
Clark Griswold.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
I don't believe. So that's a fictional character.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
I'm not reading the one about the teenage kid that
came late, but that was hilarious. So and somebody called
me a creeper for going trigger treating it my advanced
age of twenty, I get that or now, I don't know.
I'm not sure which either way, probably as creepy. I
don't even RELI even care as far as that kind
of stuff goes. The Broncos taken on the Baltimore Ravens
(18:25):
this weekend, and it's interesting because this Baltimore defense is
not what this Baltimore team is not what we're used
to seeing when you see Baltimore Ravens. I'm used to
a ground and pound offense and a stifling flying around defense.
The defense this year is not nearly as good as
(18:48):
it has been. They struggle against the pass, one of
the worst teams in the league against the pass, specifically
giving up explosive plays.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
The offense. While they do run the ball quite a
bit Derek Henry does do well.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Also has passing components to it that they haven't flexed
that muscle in recent year, specifically when Greg Rohman was there.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Now that the Tom Munkin's been there, they've they've kind of
pivot off that.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
But the uh, they'll run two tight end sets with
with likely and Andrews. They've got several receivers they can
they can beat you up in in flowers and they
even got shot Paytman going uh last week I think
it was week before last they had and now they've
got they've traded for Deontay Johnson as well.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
They are the.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Ravens that you knew, the Ravens that you conjure up
when you hear Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Aren't this year's Ravens.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
No, these are not your father's Ravens. But these are
still the Baltimore Ravens. They do a great job running
the ball in the very physical manner, but also they
do a great job defending as far as the run
is concerned. Those are basic staples of the Baltimore Ravens.
And also having a Mike linebacker. Who's that dude, the
(19:57):
Roquan Smith.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Yeah, let's go out to h Away comes for the
hot line and bring on Rob Long.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
He's with the fan there in Baltimore, Rob, How you
doing the city so well? You guys doing doing pretty well.
We were just talking about how this Baltimore.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Team isn't exactly what when we conjure up Baltimore Ravens
what you think of as the Baltimore Ravens, which is
an I formation, grounded palad team with an absolutely suffocating defense.
This year, the pass defense hasn't quite been there. And
while they do run the ball exceptionally well with Derek
Henry Lamar Jackson, they also throw the ball very well.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Uh, kind of a different animal than what we're used to.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
Yeah, you never had a quarterback like Lamar Jackson. That's
what We've never had this before. And we're gonna do
a Kyle Bowler, Trent Dilford, those guys only get a done.
Joe blackgo At, Tams can go, but not like this
Ltlebarkak can go. If you step up stop in the right,
who'll float over the top if you back up with
that pads who were running football. He just missed everything.
(20:53):
He's Supermaan in the Pearl uniforse.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
Well, Rob, When we look at this Baltimore Ravens team,
like Ben would say, I mean, they're great against the run.
They're the best in the league against the run, but
against the past not so much more. And when you
look at the Broncos of the past couple of weeks,
Sean Payton and both Knicks have been able to keep
the office in some of of the grooves. So what
was Zach order, he was the coordinator have to do
(21:16):
this week to make sure that his secondary isn't exposed.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
First of all, you and me to get on the
field and trust Martins against that defense. Just throw the
ball at my break and I'll think it to the house.
But but this Ravens secondary has been trashed throwing the
ball over the middle. It's looked like the Red season
parted in the middle. I don't I don't get it.
I've never seen a Ravens defense like this before. And
(21:44):
it's sad to see. I say, I think it's a schimatic.
I think it's scibbatic because there have been times where
you know, you got guys like word quand Smith. Look
at will Quaan Smith's numbers. He has a ton of
ton of tackles, but nothing to show for it, you know,
I mean his stats. In my opinion he has. He
has the tackles, win the tackles, for the losses with
(22:05):
the sacks with an impact plague, they're not there. Roquans
will get tackled because he's a Roquand Smith Autiston thinking
Zach Orr, you know, you'll see some experience there with
him as well. I don't think his scheme is shitting
right down to be successful with the Bartimore Ravens defense.
And that's why they brought in a consulted midway through
(22:27):
the season. Helps z Thatch go out.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Yeah, that's always a telltale sign.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
We saw some of that here when Nate Hackett was
the head coach and they immediately brought in and you
know the air quotes consulting. In fact, it was Jerry Rossberg,
formerly UH of Baltimore out there talking with Rob Blog
at roblong Sports on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
Uh one O five to seven. The fan in.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Baltimore is part of these I mean you talk about
zach Ord. Obviously it was gonna be drop off from
Michael McDonald Zach Orr. But is part of this because
you know Marlon humphreyne Wiggins have been hurt?
Speaker 3 (22:55):
Is part of this?
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Is this uh a lack of generating anything up front
with the injuries up front? I mean, mbiuk is this
is what the only healthy defensive lineman you guys have
right now? I believe it's is it is it an
attrition thing or is it schematic.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Or is it just all of it?
Speaker 5 (23:08):
I understand what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
With the injuries.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
That was the last game. Those injuries weren't before then,
you know, going to come behind, come from behind victories.
My team, like the Las Vegas Raiders. No, it's schematic.
It's absolutely schrammatic. When you hear guys, when you stop
hearing guys' names who have been productive their attack careers,
that because you not scheming them into the games. I'm
one hundred percent sure. No one said it, but I
(23:32):
watched these games. I'm one hundred percent sure that this
is scheme oriented. You know, I mean you you have
to put schemes, put great players in positions to be great,
and then make players great. You have great players, I
can scheme you up, but if you suck, you still
suck with my scheme. But I have to scheme you
up because you're a great bad foot football player. You're
(23:53):
gonna look great in my scheme. These guys have it
looked great. That tells me it's scheme all the way.
The Ravens have got to fix that one way or
the other now.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Unlike other teams, the Baltimore Ravens come into this week's
game against the.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Broncos with which I believe is probably the.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
Best tight end tandem in the league, between Mark Andrews
and Isaiah Likely.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
What does Todd Monkin have to do to kind of.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Make sure that Vance Joseph is not bringing the blended
and being able to get those tight ends involved early.
Speaker 5 (24:26):
Don't forget you got Dnt Johnson this week as well.
This all physive system. I know you're not used to
saying this. With the Ravens. They are poaching, absolutely poached,
and along along of that was Lamar Jackson. This tight end, Jandam,
I'm with you. It might be the best of all
of football. I haven't seen one like this since the
Patriots at Gronka and Nandan. To be honest with you,
(24:48):
this Titan system can win games along Isaiah likely doesn't
run like a tight end. He doesn't. He doesn't run
rounds like a tight end. He's unbelievable. He's a weapon
while all stretching it imagination and the big get of
them the football over the middle and make Big jap
and Lamar Jackson mis likely last week will play the
problem would have gone fifty yards with Pendle. He can't
(25:10):
miss those with the two tighten system for him and
the Baltimore Ravens is unbelievable. They've got to get those
guys in football, and they've been able to do that
so far this year.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Lamar Jackson, a big part of what he does is
the legs.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
It forces you into different defenses that you you kind
of don't want to be it as he's evolved as
a pass you don't want to be playing containment the
spy and only only rushing three because that's gonna give
mold Day to pick you apart. And even then if
you're running the spy, I mean, he's got to be
hell athletic, because Lamar is his other worldly athletic.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
It to me it presents that sort of you know,
chicken or egg argument on what you do.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
Are you sitting back and zone and hoping you catch
him slipping, or are you playing man, putting the spy
on him and trying to bring the heat force him
off his spot.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Pick your poison on that.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
What has been more effective against Lamar of late, first
of all, is.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
A line in the movie I'm Gonna get your sucker
when you want the window on the stairs on Lamar
Jackson the Cleveland Browns win, and which used to describe
as a three man rush against the Ravens. Last week,
Lamar dropped back in the pads, nowhere to go. He
frant for twenty yards, twenty plus yards in the first down.
(26:19):
There's nothing. He's superman. Did you see him hurdle two
defendants and come out of it and get to the
sidelines and stop the clod There's another Lamar Jackson is
one of those guys. If the defense figures him out,
that's fine. I remember with his teammate Van Noy when
he's with the New England Patriots stopped him in the
(26:40):
backfield Lamar Jackson made a play and van Ney hugged himself,
missing Lamar. There's no defense to stop him. It's not
you have to be better than him individually. You have
to be better than him. You want to run the zone,
he'll beat you. You want to run a man, He'll
beat you. You're looking at one of the most prolific
ofwso some football players in the history of the National
(27:02):
Football League. But he is a cheat, colde. There is
no defense thing to stop him. Individuals have to stop him.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
Well, Robert, that being said, obviously, you know with Lamar
and in the game now, I would say a healthy Lamar,
all of those things are in play. But we know
Lamar didn't practice two times this week. He was with
the team today for practice, so he's good to go
for the game. But how much of Todd Munkin's offense
changes If Lamar's nine, you have to go to Josh Johnson.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
What are you gonna lean on at that point?
Speaker 5 (27:35):
Jesus, you lean on Jesus? You know you no, I
just kept me. There's no now you kidd me. You
have Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson's hurt, So you go to
Josh Johnson that's all the last together. Now, come on, man.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
We had joshohn sit out here for a minut I
think we're plenty of familiars.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
God Jackson is a good guy. I like him. He's
getting to go, but he's got a backup for la Jackson.
There is no backup for lam Jackson. Let's be honest
with you. I mean, and you lead, you trust, you
go to prayer. That's what you're gonna stop praying. Not
playing and go to prayer and and and hope is
(28:24):
not a strategy for success. But in that case, hopefully
you you have a strategy success. And let's hope if
a Mar Jackson doesn't play, not help you. On Sunday,
the Baltimore Ravens are in trouble because the drop off,
and there's no indictment on Josh Johnson, they drop off
from Lamar Jackson to a backup quarterback. Give me a break,
(28:46):
it's just not come on, it's not miserable.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
I will say that Derek Henry is the hell of
a prayer though. You know what all said and done,
so nice to nice to have that.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
There as well.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
How does how does Baltimore look at this Broncos team
coming in.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
They look at the team that's five and three just
like them. I mean, you know you took I don't
think they took the Cleveland Browns lightly. Last week. The
Cleveland Browns had a different quarterback. They were inspired, playing
inspired football that came out and they beat the Ravens.
They didn't take them lightly. Kingdom lightly takes away from
what the Cleveland Browns did. So having said that, at
the lose to the Cleveland Browns, maybe going up against
(29:22):
the differ Broncos that's a positive because you see a
team that on paper shouldn't be as good as you are.
But the games I played on paper, it stayed on
grass and all Sunday. The Baltimore Ravens had to go
out there and play against a team it has the
same record as them, against a guy named bow Knicks
who forget about the stats. For some reason, this team
(29:44):
plays for him, and they had to go out and
play that way, play that type of football game. There's
a ver Broncos team that I believe is very dangerous.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
Well, Rob, we appreciate the time. Rob Long one oh
five seven the fan in Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Rob Long Sports on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Right, man, we appreciate we had to cut. This were
a little bit shorter than we want to, but this
was great. We appreciate having you.
Speaker 5 (30:03):
Man any time, my friend, anytime.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
All right, man, take care reblong.
Speaker 5 (30:08):
There's a line in the movie I'm gonna get your
sucker when you want the window with the stairs. Lamar Jackson,
he's Superman. You're looking at one of the most prolific
offensive football players in the history of the National Football League.
He is a cheato.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Thanks to Rob Long for joining us in the last segment.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
You miss any that you got to brocos Country dot Com,
Slash podcast. We're wage podcast, Apple iTunes, Spotify till the
free awesome, my hurt radiop Lord, you can get to
take it for granted podcast.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Sometimes when he bothers to put it out, I feel
I can. Sometimes he's just like, nah.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Not this week.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
I'm withholding from him. We're sitting there hungry for for more,
taking it for granted. I got to create the demand.
He's just taking his audience for granted. Let's see how
it is.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
I love rob By the way it pulls no punches.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
Rob's great when it comes to talking about the Baltimore
Ravens and Lamar Jackson, all that stuff. Lamar was a
full got practice today is going to start on Sunday
as expected, but we'll see how limited he is. Obviously
missing two games of practice this week, which they tried
to initially fluff up as a rest deal, and then
of course he finally got honest that there was some
(31:17):
injury there.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
Well, when you think about Lamar Man, he has been spectacular.
And I know a couple of years ago there are
individuals nationally in both locally who talked about Lamar saying
that he is running back playing quarterback.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
I mean I didn't agree with it then.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
I just saw a young guy trying to find his
way as a quarterback in the NFL. And now that
he has become better and more efficient as a passer, it.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Makes Lamar much more dangerous.
Speaker 4 (31:51):
When you look at touchdown and interception ratio, he is
at the top. The only person who has more touchdowns
in Lamar is Baker Mayfield. But here's the thing, Lamarley
has two I INT's on the season. Now for the
Broncos to put themselves in a position to steal this
(32:11):
game and surprise a lot of people, they're gonna have
to find ways to force error throws and set the
Broncos offense up on the short field because Lamarky run it.
He's become better efficient as a passer and he's not
turning the ball over right, and.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
That's that's sort of the thing.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
Like when Lamarch actually came into the league, he was
an all time athlete who could throw the ball.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
He's a quarterback now. He throw, He throws the ball
incredibly well.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
He runs when it suits him, he runs when it's there,
but he doesn't. He is a quarterback now, not an
athlete throwing the football like he was when he when
he came in the league.
Speaker 5 (32:46):
We come back.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
We're had talk about that defensive mobile quarterbacks in this
to Broncos Country Night Ray Okay away
