all right, you got a suit off the no.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
I spent fifteen bucks trying to get one of these

Speaker 10 (06:53):
Me?
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Oh? My God, Yeah, I had a little have been
here a while five six sixty nine zero. Yeah, it's weird.
Let's just said, buy us war bonds on the side.
What I can get that other set of it flows
back there, Steve can Okay, I'll look for me, I'll
(07:18):
fight it. We'll figure it out here in just a minute. Okay.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
We had, uh, the last game that we have it
read a chance to react and kind of get punched
in the mouth by Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
We got Kansas City coming up.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
We're at the meat of the Broncos schedule and at
the midway point more or less of the season, and
it's been mixed back. You know, they picked up some
wins and it's certainly been optimistic on that. The early
returns on Bonix weren't great, but middle of the season
he started to.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Pick it up a little bit.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
Uh, we get to this Baltimore game and there's an
optimism going in and then we just we got punched
in the mouth and there were going back and washing it.
There were some there were some misthrows on the offense
that really could have changed the dynamic.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
There were some penalties could have changed the dynam and
then your boy Steve Devin Key, man, we gotta talk
about it. Come on, man, I take it easy.
Speaker 15 (08:07):
Maybe been I've heard you say this before, and I
played that position and Steve played that position. I don't
think that Devin Key played that poorly to a point
where you look at the Broncos point and say, well,
because the outcome was what it was.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
It was.
Speaker 15 (08:29):
It was like Devin's Key's fault. No, no, no, no.
A couple of places here and there with his eyes
and being a best position.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
There was there was a couple of place where he's
out of position, especially when say Flowers was coming across
and you know it was little stung, but no, I
was I was mostly Serry Flowers.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
He was taking everybody.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Yeah, and the speed is just off the charge with him.
But whose one it was that they called the one
that at the end of the end of.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
The Yeah, bro, that's that was. That was that was
sick there. Give that man as Flowers, but he already
has it for last name. Yeah. Yeah, But we.
Speaker 14 (09:07):
Had to contain we had outside that bridge, man, and
we would get it up.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Once we get it up, it was over. It was over. Yeah.
I think it was Riley Moss that had him. You know,
had that is he was the most outside guy. You
got to stay the most outside guy.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
He can't let anybody get outside, and went to you're
the most outside guy.
Speaker 15 (09:21):
Well see, it wasn't just Riley, Mom's The thing was
when you play against a team like Baltimore and they're
as talented as lamar Is and Dereck Henring's the Flowers,
you have to play darn there perfect.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Oh yeah, and I was. I'm not saying it's Riley's fall.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
I'm it's in those situations when you're the most outside guy,
you can't.
Speaker 15 (09:41):
Well because there were there were moments when Jonathan Cooper
was supposed to stay outside. Oh yeah, yeah, but he
saw Lamar inside and and you know you don't want
to jump on that carrot right away because that's the
guy who could dip in and dip out.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
And once he gets on on on the edge, there's
no one else there, it's gone, is it?
Speaker 5 (09:57):
I just I know that you know, mainly it was
the same flower play with Key and it is an
expert in embarrassing coverage, I would say that a several
time embarrassments and coverage. I would say that that particular
play he would definitely want back.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Yeah, I mean I would imagine most of the guys.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Yeah, they got quite a few plays like that, man,
And then it's humbling, man to be on the field
and you can't stop a team.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Now you've probably been there before, That's what I'm saying.
I am an expert in embarrassing coming on that referencing, Hey,
if you play enough, you want to know you know
how it feels, man, and it's like, dang, man, we
can't do anything. Well. See, that's the rule of thumb
in the NFL if you haven't been.
Speaker 15 (10:34):
Run over or run by enough, because it's going to.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Happen to master.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Tan had a play he probably wants back with you
and I were talking about that live as that happened
where he put you know, he's trying to he's trying
to feel the hips and keep the eyes up on
the quarterback, but he ended up.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Clutching the jersey a little bit as he pulled off.
And I think it was eight flowers on that one
as well. Well, you know, some of those things they're
going to happen to you. You just hope that they don't
have are extremely friendly to Baltimore too.
Speaker 14 (10:59):
It was there was some like, hold on, Vennis, you
that that play.
Speaker 15 (11:05):
Let's be totally honest. When you are viewed as being
a super Bowl caliber team, you just lost a tight
game that Cleveland the week.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Before, and you're at home and you're playing at home.
But the rest are I supposed to say they don't
shouldn't have anything to do with that. But let's tell
Kansas City that I'm not saying that, uh should jeez, yeah,
I should have should have a city and uh yeah,
uh huh the law firm of Aculdas should have would I.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
Look, at the end of the day, I think we're
hoping that Kansas City would be a Pala cleanser. Though
the Broncos did beat Kansas City once last week, Kansaity's
offense is not played up to the same level that
they have previously. But I gotta I gotta give some
some advice to teams based on I don't know, if
you guys watch the Monday night game.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Yeah, of course, never play for over time against Kansas City?
Speaker 2 (11:54):
What are you doing? Don't do that? Go for two.
Speaker 15 (11:57):
I disagree with you, and I disagree with you. Okay,
the hindsight is always twenty twenty When you have to
say when you have a chance to sit back from
a thirty thousand foot view after the game, that is
what you're going to is a live in the moment,
Benjamin over I is screaming, go for two.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Okay, what happens if tam Bow goes for two and
somehow they don't make it?
Speaker 15 (12:23):
Now the narrative once again becomes guess what, you know what,
he should have just kicked the field goal play for overtime.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Just know how that works. At the end of the day,
loss is a loss. I've read the bet on my guys.
Speaker 15 (12:33):
Yeah, and everyone in Tampa would not feel exactly the
same way.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
I get up to the podium and I said, look,
I bet on my guys to get two yards rather
than rather than I got my defense, you know, holding
up after sixty sixty seventy reps out there.
Speaker 14 (12:46):
If you're a team that doesn't every third down, you
don't go for it, you know we got the.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Team that bright Wait, wait, I can wait.
Speaker 15 (12:53):
You caught between a rock and a hard place, because
if you don't go for a two pointed versions as
though you didn't have a belief in your offense right.
And the other part is if you go ahead and
keep the field goaling playing for overtime. That's shown as
though you have confidence in your defense.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
So you damn if you do. Damn me you do.
Speaker 5 (13:10):
But I have confidence in my defense. But not after
they've been out there for seventy two plays. Like for me,
I'm like, the dude, the gash like we're going for
two it's two yards. Also, yeah, you just seeing passion mahoone,
those things too many. Yeah, I'm not putting.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
My my tire defense out there against Pat Mahomes when
I gotta get bad. I got Baker to get me.
Speaker 15 (13:25):
To screw that man. Look you hear me, defense, I
need you to stand up right now, all right, right now,
I need you draw a line in the sand. You
got you got?
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Hey really talk.
Speaker 15 (13:44):
That's happened several times when I was playing for the
Broncos somehow, Like I was thinking, well, I can't Porter not.
I think maybe Tracy Ports. I don't know, I can't
remember his name, but he was playing wide receiver for yeah,
for the Raiders. So I'm looking out and we in
(14:05):
zero coverage.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
I'm like, I'm counting him and me divide by palm
who got him?
Speaker 15 (14:12):
Jams on the opposite side. John is on the tight
end and Porters out there by himself. So I go
out there right so capen down is the quarterback. So
Porter runs a route trying to push me off, and
I noticed no one's curving the quarterback and he's breaking containing.
So so I put my foot in the ground, shoot
(14:34):
past Port, and I tapped the quarterback. No, because at
that time he had already pulled it down. He thought
had pushed me off. But I'm looking around, like, how
they hell I get caught on the water?
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Is a defensive quarter to take care for that play?
Speaker 15 (14:50):
You know? I mean publicly, I think I record you.
But low Ki was just like man hell of a
played hell away to save us. It was supposed to happen.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
This was be another quarter. We were missing to guys.
Come on, y'all had ten guys on the field.
Speaker 15 (15:11):
Yes, he hit and we played Bill Rothlisberg and Pittsburgh
is money like football.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
I'm looking around and I think it was a man Sanders.
I'm like, how the hell I'm gonna end up on here?
Speaker 7 (15:23):
And I was like.
Speaker 15 (15:30):
I realized if I if I went down to cover
and we have no middle hold safety, So now I'm
trying to play man.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Coverage from like seven yards yess, so guess what they
were on the post. I'm right there. I can see
the ball, but my hand cannot get there time. It's
like a thirty five yard pickup. Yes, yes, I'm Steve
was a defenser playing And that's the worst thing happening.
Speaker 15 (16:00):
If you ain't coverage. You can see the ball throwing
and you can see it and everything was like a
slow motion and I and oh, I say, now I'm
going this.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Dude's everyone thinks to on somebody's football card. Now Bergerson
just gave up a thirty five yard reception. I'll throw down.
The analytics say going for two.
Speaker 5 (16:20):
That's the smarter choice, by the way, listen long the analytics,
the datiss go for two.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Listen, man. At some point, you got to use your gut, because.
Speaker 15 (16:28):
How many times have we seen analytics infiltrate coaching decisions
in the NFL instead of them thinking with gut. We've
seen it all the time, and the gun was wrong.
See you, you will be perfect for a lot of
the teams who have that analytical guy in the box.
So when something happens on the field, Okay, what do
we do here, Ben.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
What is the use chance h forty go for it
and whatever that says, sixty forty go it a minute?
Speaker 15 (16:56):
So what do you think the analytics said when the
Broncos went for those fourth down.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Trot, not to go for it? But he did it anyway.
They did it anyway and they failed. You done that too? Nope,
do that though, but they're gone for it now.
Speaker 5 (17:09):
I wouldn be pressed up for points, not a one
score game against Baltimore. You go, you keep me one
score game, keep it one score game. The minute you
get down two scores to Baltimore, they're blowing you out.
They're gonna right right down your throat the rest of
the game.
Speaker 15 (17:19):
It's funny because when the Bronx way up toward that slot.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Fade Detroity Franklin.
Speaker 15 (17:24):
I love the call, but Ben was sitting right next
to me, and it was just like, you know what,
they missed an opportunity.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Baltimore just gonna run the ball yep, And they did,
and some more and some more and some more. Yeah,
what's their game? Gets who gets going? Boy? He gets
ht he starts feeling it.
Speaker 5 (17:39):
Yeah, well, if you want six three to sixty coming
down the hill on you the rest of the game,
not me.
Speaker 15 (17:44):
See that's the thing like being twelve to fourteen yards
deep and seeing a guy like that. Everyone always asked
me the question I ask you, Steve, Like, when that happens,
what's the first thing that goes through your mind.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
I'm trying to get him at the line of scrimmage
before he gives up to I gotta get in before you.
I'm trying to get down there once it gets a
full head of steam. Are years old. I don't care
how fast you run. You're gonna take the bruner of
the blook.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Oh yeah, yeah, you got you gotta get you gotta
you gotta be anticipating, you gotta know, you gotta have
some some good run past keys.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
And I noticed a lot of safeties out there that
reach the uncovered guard. And on capra dime, you do
that too, No, I be's tight end you about. That
doesn't work. It doesn't work. Anybody trying to read that
uncovered diamond. It doesn't work.
Speaker 15 (18:36):
It's the reason it doesn't work because I just fixated
on that uncovered alignment.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
You don't see all the accent happening around you.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Well, the thing is is like when I'm looking at
when when I'm looking at what's your name again, Dave, Dave,
I'm looking at.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Dave, look at me head on. And if he's in
the stands and he just comes off to the line
of scrimmage yard, I can't.
Speaker 16 (19:05):
I don't know if he's come up to the line
of scrimmy two yards, three.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Years, ten yards, and so I'm gonna get.
Speaker 14 (19:11):
Caught up running towards a line of Scrimmag's winkers with
spass play.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
But see that's okay. So this is a real action.
Speaker 15 (19:17):
Here's why I started doing this, Like, if it required
me to be at twelve, I will line up at fourteen.
The reason I'm a line up at fourteen because my
original alignment is twelve. Fourteen gives me an opportunity to read.
So I walk down from fourteen to twelve. So at
that point I'm able to see are you looking at that? Well?
Speaker 2 (19:37):
For me, I'm looking at it all depends on the coverage.
But if it was wearing quarters, I'm looking at the
tight end.
Speaker 15 (19:42):
Now, the tight end can screw you sometimes because if
he does that art release, he's got to get outside
to kind of ring shallow. So but still as I'm
walking down, I could determine because now he's got to
get on the move. But if he engages that end,
and especially if the end is in a nine, if
that end is in the like six, it's cruised up.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
But he's though I played both. Okay, yes, so you
talking about if you're on the tighty inside, if I'm
on the tight end. Yeah.
Speaker 15 (20:08):
Now if I'm on the open side to the receiver side,
I'm trying to read the receiver's route like if he
if he polices outside, it gives me a little time.
But I'm still aligning at fourteen walking down to twelve
because it gives me an opportunity.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
To see m M if I if that's what works
for you, you know, I tried being at thirty and
it works. So Benness, he's a frame. He can't even
see his feet. It's fourth and one. I'm still getting roasted.
(20:43):
Put over those ree shoes on, and the picture the
botom of the screen. It's definitely been there, Kansas City
coming up here and the Barcas beat him up. He
last year? What what are the keys to beat this team?
Speaker 5 (21:02):
The offense doesn't look the same as it's looked in
previous years. I don't know if it's a lack of
Eric the enemy. I don't know if it's you know,
they've certain receivers have gone on.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
The was the running back and that's not there. That's
a check. He gives them another level of energy, I think.
But hey, Kareem huntsback hunt back there. He Ryan's there there.
Speaker 15 (21:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (21:22):
Yeah, they're they're gonna they put up points. They still
they're still productive offensively. You know Kelsey still he had
what one hundred yards receiving, uh hot the hot head
in amy plus yards. You know, they still have some
productive receiver. Then they got the system. They got a
great system there. So I mean, we got to be
(21:42):
on our p's and q's and we can't let this
last game affect us.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
And I feel like we're not good enough to win
this game. We'll see what I What I talked.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
About earlier is the way that you guys used Jacksonville
is kind of a rallying cry. Uh after after that
AFC law, you know you had bad practice. Tag TD
told the story. You know, he would just say Jacksonville
is a motivator, you know, as a motivator for that.
Kennebroncos Us Baltimore because that's where they want to be.
You want to be a kid the whole off season though, Yeah,
can you can you transition that in the week Can
(22:14):
you flip that the week back?
Speaker 2 (22:15):
That's where we want to be, that teams where we
want to be. Well, we're not. We're not rounding that
cuts today. I'm not you know, I'm not.
Speaker 5 (22:20):
I'm not sitting here loafing today because I'm not sitting
here not putting one hundred and ten percent in because
you know, Bolt, that's where.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
I want to be, That's where I want to be.
I mean, I believe on any given the Sunday a
team can can put it together. But we did see
some things on film that it wasn't it wasn't as
good as it wasn't as clean as as it should
have been.
Speaker 15 (22:38):
You know.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
And if they can clean those things up, yeah one
hundred percent. But will they you know?
Speaker 14 (22:45):
And they are they putting in that we're trying to
correct those mistakes because hey, they'll make it look good
for the coaches, they'll but are they really making a mental.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Effort to get better every day?
Speaker 8 (22:56):
You know?
Speaker 15 (22:56):
That's why this game is so important because you can
look at the the Ravens game and say, well, this
is something, this is the point of the season that
forced the Broncos to have some time to reflect, look
within and change your season.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
But if you get two back to.
Speaker 15 (23:11):
Back losses in that particular way, it starts to set
the trend, and that trend starts to set in immensely.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
You start to think that's what you are, yes, exactly
what Lena Pact is coming in Juste just do you
know that's gonna be the Justin Simmons return game, And
you know it's doesn't get any easier.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
You know, it's like, hey, we got we got some
rough games ahead of us, so we just gotta we
gotta go out there and play, man, Just just do
what you thought you were gonna do at beginning of
the season. You thought you were gonna go out there
to compete and kick them.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
But you still can do it. But everybody's gotta be
on board.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Everybody's You can't have a few guys out there wanted,
you know, yelling to screaming that team.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
No, everybody got to be yelling to scream.
Speaker 15 (23:53):
But that's the thing like when you play against because
you know, like Baltimore and Kansas city's got to do
his job. You can't have two or three guys on
any given play making mistakes.
Speaker 5 (24:06):
Well, that's and that's why defense is inherently more difficult.
On offense, you just need one thing to go right.
On defense, one thing goes wrong and the whole thing
goes wrong. So it's it's inherently a more difficult and
it's crazy because it's like you got to have a
majority of your guys. When you look at the film,
they're grading out at you know, eighty five ninety ninety
five percent. You know they're not making him in no air.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Yeah, and then you don't get all right over here
and he's got a sixty eight almost nice.
Speaker 17 (24:37):
The cost it the game man Broncos saying this man,
but you costed that one. Yeah, we got hit break
real quick. Broncos Country not be back. Bradford six sx
nine zeros A text line shout out to Broncos. D
was listening to nights and a real nice text message
in on us brightening our day.
Speaker 5 (24:55):
We appreciated that. Yeah, it was always nice to get
a note like that. Yeah, and we're hoping that the
Broncos bright in our day. On Sunday against Kansas City.
I call Kansas City and the Ferguson Hall of Fame
because that is a team that all the offense gets
all the credit, but the defense.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Is carrying it lately.
Speaker 15 (25:12):
Well, yes, you might as well look at the Kansas
City defense like they are ups of Fedix because, like
you said, they are carrying the team every time they
come through. And that's kind of the scary part about
Kansas City. Say what you want to say about Mahomes
(25:32):
numbers being under what we've seen in the years past,
and that's because we're comparing Mahomes to Mahomes. But the
great part about it is when you look around the
league and you start comparing quarterbacks, compare them in the
fourth quarter. That's where you need to make your money.
That's where we've we've seen Tom Brady make his money.
And for me, I don't know about you guys, but
(25:54):
when I look at this Kansas City team, they remind
me a lot of those New England Patriots Tom Brady
led teams because they just have a bunch of guys
and they just find ways to make plays.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
They got some superstars.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
They have superstars, Mahomes, Kelsey, Chris Jones, Chris Jones.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Yeah, they got some players, they got they got some
players like that. It hoppen, you know, and all that.
Speaker 15 (26:23):
But well, yeah, but even with that being said, we're
so used to seeing this, this Kansas City offense being
really explosive because what you with the Kansas City in
years past.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
There was no such thing as red zone offense. There
were no such things. It was just explosives, explosives, and.
Speaker 15 (26:39):
They struggle like so many teams in the red zone.
But if you watch them, they have a lot of tendencies.
And for me, whether it's the other teams are Kansas City,
anytime you see a tight end off the ball, everyone
on the defense should be on alert.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
You should see all the loving guys talking.
Speaker 15 (26:58):
But weekend and week out when team face Kansas City,
Travis Kelcey's off the ball.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Oh they had two tight ends. No one's talking, No
one's talking. Kansas City loves them. Two tight end plays.
By the way, Noah Gray, he is the third leading receiver.
Kelsey's number one, No Gray, number number three. Mind zavier' worthy.
Speaker 15 (27:14):
Because most people put a lot of their attention on
Kelsey and when you want gold back and watching the
Tampa Bay game, he's running like those Wes Welker choice
route and if you say shallow, he goes deep.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
If you sit deep, he just runs and turns around.
And one rock, he ran on one of the linebackers.
Speaker 15 (27:32):
We call it like it's a return route, so he
looked like he was running inside on a shallow the
guy started to back off. He came and whipped the
route back outside and Patrick Mahomes threw to him like
they were playing in the backyard.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
One of the things about Kansas City this year is
they're using slow, methodical drives. They're excellent on third down,
best team to leave on third down, but they're using
slow methodical drives. Kansa City's number one in the league
in time of possession. You know you just talked about explosives.
They used to be a quick strike offense. They're not anymore.
They're a possess based football team that plays good defense.
Speaker 15 (28:02):
And that's the thing that makes them dangerous because you
have to be able to play the two minute offense,
but also you have to be excellent in the four
minute offense when you're trying to play keep away and
keep the posing quarterback on the sideline. They would those
stats say to me, they become quite efficient in moving
the chains, and they're just doing it in a very
(28:23):
different way.
Speaker 14 (28:23):
There's their way for the last several years. When they
have to score points, they can score points, which we
saw in overtime. You know, it's just why when they
got to go up. But they don't prefer to you.
That's what I'm saying. Like their philosophy now is a
lot different. They used to be a quick strike offense.
It was like, well, you know, we'll let you do
what you do until we get the ball back. Then
a quick striking again. They're not that anymore. They're a
methodical offense. Number one in time of possession.
Speaker 5 (28:46):
They run the football with Kareem Hunt and sometimes Carson Steel.
You know, they're they're they're just a different brand of
football than you kind of associate with Kansas City.
Speaker 15 (28:56):
You know what they're running that uh call, They got
the PhD in Bajamon are bright football right? Clock well
me meaning that yes, they squeeze every second out of
the clock. That's what you should do and they and
they do it like and they've run the ball, but
it's how they use their running backs and they and
(29:16):
this is one of those teams. Is gonna be huge
tests for the discipline, I disciplined of the Denver Broncos
because pre and posting that motion, they use it, and
they use it well, and all you need is one
or two guys to shift over where they shouldn't shift.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Is a home run play. It's a home run play. Yeah,
but hopefully, I mean we'll have all that down.
Speaker 14 (29:36):
I mean, we're getting to the point of the season
where we should understand the defenses pretty well and we
shouldn't be making know those types of mistakes on defense,
especially as well as they've been playing throughout the year.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
They are undefeated, they ain't know right now, everybody required how.
Speaker 14 (29:51):
Big would they how big would it win be? And
Arrowhead come on enormous right now? And I think if
that would that would give some momentum too. I mean,
I think we need a boost right now. We need
we need a big win.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Take football. They need to take one of these three games.
You know they lost to Baltimore, you got Kansas City,
you got Atlanta coming up. You need to to take
one of those three.
Speaker 15 (30:14):
Look, if the Broncos are able to get to win
against Kansas City the Sunday, and it's almost like some
Pizza Bay on your palette as you're trying to cleanse it.
And the Broncos need to cleanse their losing palette right
now because you want to get Kansas City. I mean
most people, I look at the Baltimore game and I'm
(30:35):
gonna dismiss it because I'm moving on. But if they
lose that game, that bitter taste is in your mouth.
You can't get it out.
Speaker 5 (30:44):
You say pay is better or no, I'm saying pizza
Bay like when you when you're eating like.
Speaker 15 (30:48):
A three course meal, they bring that survey so you
can cleanse your palette going to that next Come on, man,
you look you're suppisticated.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Do you know what I'm talking about?
Speaker 1 (30:56):
You talk at the opening game of the season when
the City beat Baltimore twenty seven to nothing.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
So I would.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
Imagine that the guys maybe thinking, well, Baltimore, they were
really good and the Kansas City chiefs beat them.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
They called him early. They give them the comments that
we could beat anybody. By the transit of property. We
get to strike the loss from Baltimore. It's the record, right,
That's that's they caught.
Speaker 5 (31:31):
They also caught Baltimore early, like Nick said before then
on that offense the first two weeks was not because then.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
The Raiders beat him. Yes they humming right now. Yeah,
they couldn't figure freake Dereck Carry is almost like he
couldn't figureut how to run out of the shot cut
at first.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
So used to be in you know, so used to
being behind a quarterback and under center, and then by
week three he's like, oh, this is how you do it.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Let's see. That's the other thing.
Speaker 15 (31:51):
Like like other teams around the league, like Buffalo Bill's,
they know who they are. Everything is sent around Josh Allen.
The Ravens know who they are. Kansas City knows that
they know who they are. This just looks different, but
they know they can finish and close games.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
The Broncos, you really don't know who they are. It's
kind of up and down.
Speaker 15 (32:10):
This would be a game where the Broncos can actually
establish some type of identity.
Speaker 5 (32:16):
In my opinion, does a receiver need to step up?
Because I mean, we got Courtland, you know as far
as that goes. But Jamonti Williams is the second leading
receiver on this team, and it's not really close. After that,
then it's sort of little Jordan Humphrey who gets the
most snaps, and that sort of bothers me a little bit.
I mean, with all due respect to little Jordan Humphrey,
he's probably a practice squad player almost anywhere else, do you.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Think so, I don't know.
Speaker 14 (32:37):
I mean, yeah, he's a good blocker. He catches some
good passes, you know about he had a chance to
catch that one on his own.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
But he catches good passes.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
Then we're talking about when he didn't catch, you know,
I mean like at the end of the day, and
as far as the blocking goes, well, if they were
great blocking, then would' they be great running the ball?
Speaker 2 (32:54):
And they're not really great running the ball right now?
Is it just the receiver's block?
Speaker 5 (32:58):
Well, no, but you get the e What I'm saying
is like it feels like that we're taking a playmaker
off the field somehow, whether that's Troy Franklin who also
needs to learn to catch the ball, are Marvin Mims
who can't buy his way onto the field. At this point,
you know, it feels like we don't have a game
breaker out there, Like we don't have somebody that just
makes a defensive quarter a go.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Wait a minute, we got to respect this guy. We
gotta respect his speed. Whatever it is. You know, Accortland
is what he is.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
And I'm not trying to knock anybody or take away
from anybody, but it feels like this offense he's missing
a playmaker.
Speaker 15 (33:29):
They yes, you're right, the team they're missing a playmaker.
But you just named a couple of guys who could
in fact be some of those playmakers. But it's you're
not really using them in that particular way, so they
can't really have that level of explosive production. I mean,
there's no way you can tell me that Marvin Mims
(33:50):
cannot be that guy.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Steve, have you solved World Hunger? They're in the break
may a little progress on it. We saw Ben Hunger,
which is pizza, But that's a that's a totally different
that entire piece about yourself. I mean, you know, I
would you know, I know that you will be asking
if you're going to Now that means, yes, what happens
(34:16):
early in the night, early in the night, We'll see
what happened. Yes, Steam wants a slice. I think I
owe him after after the last week, Well, you know what,
that's the case reminds me just slide the just give
me an entire pizza.
Speaker 16 (34:31):
Man.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
As we look forward to the Kansas City game, and
we talked a little.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
Bit about, you know, the team not necessarily having or
showcasing if they have them playmakers. What what can we
do to make this offense more consistent and able to
get to a point where we're not chasing points. We're
not chasing fourth down conversions in the first quarter.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
Well not not get down.
Speaker 14 (34:56):
You know, when you get behind it points then I
think a lot of teams feel like they have to
they have to pass the ball and get away from
the ring game. We actually try to stick with the
ring game, but we just haven't been able to be
as productive as we need to be, I mean, and
(35:18):
it's frustrating.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
I know it's frustrating. Works for the coaches, for the players,
for the office of lineman. But man, we got the guy.
I think we have the guys that can do it,
but we just we're not doing it.
Speaker 15 (35:28):
Okay for me, that translates into staying ahead of the chains, right,
So we saw so many multiple four down attempts. Now
you're doing that out of desperation mode and trying to
be aggressive and create a spark.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
That means if the Broncos can start every possession, let's
let me back in for a second for the.
Speaker 15 (35:47):
Past two weeks the opening possession for the Broncos who
started with the turnover right, So that that's the tendency
that you have to bring first and foremost.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
The second thing is if the.
Speaker 15 (35:58):
Broncos can find themselves maybe in a second and three,
a second and four, that's more manageable. I like to
believe that there are more plays in Sean Payne's playbook
for second and third or second and four types of plays,
But the Broncos typically are not in that situation.
Speaker 13 (36:19):
They're just not.
Speaker 5 (36:19):
And that's I think part of the key to make
it consistent is we've got to find ourselves, making sure
that we are ahead of the chains and ahead of
the scoreboard and not putting ourselves shooting ourselves on the
foot right out the gate two weeks in a row.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
I mean, that's frustrating. You got to you just gotta
shake your head at that, like, what are we doing?
Speaker 1 (36:34):
Yeah, you know, if it's not that it's a penalty
or something that's going to set us back and get
us behind the chains, and you know that's.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Hard to overcome time after time after time. Okay, now
now we're talking. We're talking about a couple of things.
Speaker 15 (36:48):
Let me get let me give believe the second and
third thing to help the team as well, how about
changing things up and coming out and playing with more tempo.
It's looked good so far with they do it. They
think about the Tampa game where we see Tampa game
opening drive, the Broncos move the ball down the field
and they scored. They did relatively right. So we've said
(37:10):
this count countless time on the show that when you
have constant personnel changes, it slows things down. No, for me,
I'm looking at it from a from a defensive player standpoint.
What usually gives defensive units issues not just throughout the game,
but on that first drive hit gas temple, Yeah, tempo,
go right now, because no one's smiling it is.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
You're gonna struggle getting back up to the line.
Speaker 5 (37:34):
That's going to create less pressure on the hand hand, right,
Whenever they do it, it puts the pressure on the
VV even if they do it in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 16 (37:43):
When whenever offense piece things up, defenses generally speaking, unless
teams do it all the time, right, you prepare for it,
but most most defenses aren't ready for.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
You know why it works.
Speaker 15 (37:55):
We both know why it works because when you start
to speed up the clock, you're forcing loving guys to
act and communicate, and you can't communicate when.
Speaker 5 (38:03):
You're tired, and it reduces lack of oxygen to Bruce
is your decision making matrix.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
H My favorite is your story about pointing to the
other all the time. But but I mean yeah, and
the winners that offense at it's most prepared to be
able to go a temple script. So why why wouldn't
you Why wouldn't you start doing that?
Speaker 5 (38:33):
Take advantage of that kind of stuff, and because we've
stayed it in games now and it works.
Speaker 15 (38:36):
Thinking about that that fourth down play where La ran
the crow inside, obviously he was open. Uh Bonnicks can't
get it to Troy Franklin. But that's a play in
my opinion, you may open up the game with. It
may be your second play because it takes the defense
of gone. Even if you don't hit it, guess what
the defense I a gotta get prepared for it. Yep,
(38:57):
we'll check this out.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
Though. When you're making mistakes offensively. Does the coach have
confidence to do that? Because if you flew around and get.
Speaker 14 (39:08):
A penalty, and you're doing that and it's three and out,
bam and forty five seconds.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
Guess what, you gotta take them shot? But Gause what now?
On the defense is like, oh, come on man, what
y'all doing? Yeah? Sure? Good now boy? Yeah, come on man,
pretty sure. That's that's a chip Kelly stuff got him
run out of Lege in San Francisco, going out.
Speaker 15 (39:30):
Wait.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Wait, the only problem with chip Kelly was the fact
that he didn't have enough players to run that off
or right, that's the other party. Have a depth dayway,
we gotta break. We'll be back, Rockus, Cutry Night.
