Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thanks to Cody Rourke and Harrison Win for joining us earlier.
If you missed any of that, you go to Broncos
Country dot Com, Slash podcast, or wherever we get this podcast,
Apple iTunes, Spotify, Totally Free and Awesome, my Heart Radio app,
or you get to take It for Granted podcast as well.
When he bothers to upload episode, my drives home that
they've just been selling silence as I wait for a
new Take It for Granted podcasts. Sorry for making you wait.
This is what it is, man, I'm blaming you. My
(00:21):
car rides are silent because I didn't blame me. I'm
too lazy to hit the radio.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Listen back to my so now I can never listpect
to myself. I hate the sound of my own voice.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
But that was that actor Adam Driver who won't watch
any of the movies because he hates the sound of
his voice, and such a great actor. I have the
same thing going on. I cannot listen to the sound
of my voice. It's it's irritating. You're not the only one,
well yeah, well you know, I mean affair and and
someone who doesn't want to listen to my voice. But
show up anyway.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
We're going run.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
It's the KWA Commas Breath hot line to bring up
Parker Gabriel from the Never Post.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Parker, how you doing this evening?
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Doing great? How are you guys doing?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
I want to start off with a debacle, But before
we get to the broncos, let's talk a little bit
about Jack del Rio allegedly driving his vehicle through a
street sign, crashed through a fence, parked in someone's front lawn,
was arrested for drug driving, and then resigned from Wisconsin's
coaching staff. I know, obviously you got a litle connection
up there at UW. What do you think of Jack
del Rio meaning worth twelve million and not hiring an uber?
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah, don't don't bring up my alma mater like in
this light. Please, No, it was. I mean, I don't know.
I there's a lot of there's, you know, just one
of those where it's like it didn't make a lot
of sense to me. I guess maybe I don't bet
maybe you have more insight on it. I didn't quite
understand if he had a connection to Luke pick a
way back or what. But I just was like, when
(01:34):
they hired him, I was like, oh, okay, it didn't
make a lot of sense, I guess, but you know,
Madison is the kind of place where you work hard
and you play hard, but normally when you play hard,
you try not to be an idiot too.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Fair enough, we'll go with that. It is Jack del Riol.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
They always need his coaching decisions, so we kind of
know where he stands on that sliding scale. And any
chance I had to slam, youw I sort of have to,
for first of all beating us at Arkansas with Brett
Bielama and then later foisting him upon us. So any
chance I get to throw salt in the wound there,
I'm want to welcome. Yeah, I'm gonna take it opportunity
to do so. As we look back on the gut
punch that was the Broncos loss yesterday, obviously the Sean
(02:18):
Payton's of the world out there saying this guy isn't
falling today, but a lot of fans certainly felt that
way yesterday. That's not the takeaway I had from it.
I looked at that game and I said, you know what,
these Denver Broncos belong. I came away that game, even
though it was a loss, with a bit of a
sense of optimism.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah, I mean it's sort of interesting because you know,
if the one thing goes different, the whole narrative is
a lot different. And the fact that it went the
way that it did doesn't change what the first fifty
nine minutes and fifty nine seconds look like. And so
I think you're right that there is a lot to
take away from it that's good. And then I think
(02:56):
it's also fair to say that, you know, the moral
victory thing, while practically speaking, is probably true in a
lot of ways for the Broncos, it did not feel
that way yesterday. I mean, it was as crushed and
as stunned of a locker room as I've been in
especially on the I mean, for sure on the Broncos beat,
and you know, pretty close to us, as as down
(03:17):
and as I've seen a locker room, you know, in
my time doing this, And so I mean, it was
a stunner and it shook the locker room pretty hard.
But I also think it's one of those where you know,
it wasn't it wasn't a stunning playoff exit or something
like that. It's week ten and so you've got a
chance to take all of that good and build on
(03:38):
it and and and maybe you're able to take the
hurt from that loss and channel it. And at the
same time, like I think you have to be real
too about the limitations that led you to you know,
for as good as Kansas City is and for a
tope of places that is to play, the Broncos missed
some chances to put that game away earlier than in
(03:58):
the last second on a field attempt. So there's a
lot to work with and you know, going forward, if
they can put the emotional sting of that game, you know,
and and sort of leave it where it is now,
I think they'll be fine.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Talk about Parker Gabriel at Parker J. Gabriel on Twitter.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
A lot of fans complaining about the Brandon Jones penalty,
and I thought that was a bad call, But the
conversation on Twitter has largely been that that swung the
game and all this kind of stuff, and I'm not
buying that, to be honest with you. As bad as
that penalty call was, the bigger play came later in
that drive when they give up a nineteen yard pass
and catched a Kareem Hunt on second and seven, And
(04:40):
there were plenty of opportunities later for the never Broncos
to as you just alluded to, put this game away.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
I'm not hinging this game on a penalty. Are you
buying that?
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Well? No, I mean I think it obviously. I mean
it was a seven point penalty. Like that is a
it's a sack. You know, Homes on the ground, you're
punting from the forty four. You're not going fourth on
board them long and instead they end up scoring on
the drive. But like you said then, I mean they
converted two fourth downs. I think on that drive they
had that that that play that you're talking about where
there's a couple of miss tackles, there's all and then
(05:12):
and then on top of that, you know you've got
you know, Mahomes missed worthy for a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Later in the game, Nick Benito had Mahomes dead the rights.
One time he like three sixty and spun you know,
and threw the ball out of bounds. Another time he
gets out of what looked like a sure stack and
and hit samaj p Rod for thirty five yards.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
You know.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Conversely, the Broncos do nothing with their first three possessions
in the second half, Like it was just it just
wasn't a really good game. Like it wasn't the cleanest
played in a lot of ways, but it was competitive
attack you knew, you know, both teams played really hard.
Watching the Broncos defense sort of like stand toe to
toe with Mahomes in a game where they didn't turn
(05:56):
Kansas City over and just stand in there on a
sixteam play drive. They you know, we're going to make
this as difficult as humanly possible on you.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
It just was.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
It was really competitive, and we have games like that.
You know, sometimes it's about plays that get made and
sometimes it's about plays that don't. And there was I
think that I think it's fair to say there was
quite a bit on both sides of that coin. On Sunday,
I would.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Agree with that. I talk with Parker Gabriel the different post.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Uh specifically the Broncos in the second half, and we
need to have a conversation about coming out flat and
second halfs of football games.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
But you know, the Broncos had.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Four drives in the second half, two of which were
three and outs, one of which was an eight play
drive that they punted, and then and then you had
to missed field goal drive in which they they punishingly
ran the ball when everyone knew what was coming.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
They made no secret of the fact that they were
milking the clock out and playing for the uh and
playing for the field goal. Kissy knew was coming, and
we rushed with with efficacy.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
So why is Sean Payton coming out and insisting on
throwing the ball over the yard in the second half
to the detriment of the team on three and outs.
It almost looks like he's trying to prove to everybody
how smart he is. But then we look at bon
Nicks and like he's arrived, that point's already proven.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Yeah, it's interesting because I think, like you know, Sean
talks a lot about sequencing and not getting predictable in
their sequencing. It's clearly something they pay a lot of
attention to in terms of I we say sequencing, we're
talking like, you know, run, run, pass, run, pass, pass,
pass pass, run right like for a second and third down.
(07:24):
And so sometimes sometimes and this is not like, you know,
the Broncos are not the only team that overthinks things sometimes,
but occasionally it's like you know, they're they're it's either
like run run and they don't get anything to start
to you know, a drive, and then it's third and long,
and that's right where Steve Spagnolo and Kansas City onsome
(07:44):
or you know, trying to be too exotic, and sometimes
to me, it just seems like you're caught in between
being really basic to start the second half or trying
to sort of like get out over your skis and
make a big play right away. And so they just
they have not been able to figure that out. They
score one offensive touchdown in the last three second half
that was against Carolina, you know, shout out the last
(08:06):
two weeks, I think they had They haven't had more
than sixty two yards in the second half either the
last two weeks. And so it's just and again like
they're playing really good teams, although Baltimore's defense isn't particularly good.
So there's I think you can look at it and say, hey, listen,
they did nothing for most of the second half and
they still had every chance to be Kansas City on
(08:27):
the road? Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Right? Like,
it's a good thing you're in that position. It's a
bad thing because you make a couple of plays and
you probably win the game. So it's it's been a
trouble spot. Uh, And it's something that if they're gonna
you know, beat Atlanta, win two or three in a row,
put themselves in a really good position for the postseason,
like that they're going to have to get breaking news then,
(08:50):
like they're gonna have to score points in the second half.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Yeah, I think we cracked the case here. Score more points,
better chance to win. Talking with tar of the dumb post.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Theory, but I think it stands the test of logical.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
You know, we should put that theory to the test.
We should ask so to just simply score more points.
That's that's all we have to do. But I mean
that that he's as ridiculous as I'm sort of lamp
putting the premise, syat he is the premise, like it
is the problem here and we come out flat in
the second half of games and sure sequencing and not
wanting to be predictable whatever, But dude, if if running
it through the B gap every time is working with
audric estimate, be as predictable as you want, make them
(09:25):
stop it right.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Yeah. Well, I think I mean, I think we all
saw the same thing on Sunday, which was Audric estimate,
you know, taking that job and and unless he you know,
no pun intended fumbles it. I mean, I just it's
hard to foresee him giving it back at this point.
The way he's running, he's just it's you know, young legs,
(09:49):
he's powerful and and it looks different when he's got
the ball in his hands, and so maybe, you know,
maybe it is simpler going forward in the second half,
it's like, yeah, number twenty three, he's big, strong and fast.
Hand him the ball and see what happened.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
We saw Marvin Mim get some get some different usage.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
We saw him sort of the offset eye there on
that Mountaineer swing play that didn't go anywhere, but he
caught all four targets that were throwing his way. He
had to get a couple of carries in the game.
Can we expect to see more out of Marvin MIM's
going forward?
Speaker 3 (10:18):
You know, I can't tell you how many times I've
answered that question in the affirmative over the last year
and a half, and then every time it's wrong. So
I'm a little reluctant to say, like, oh, well, yeah,
he's gonna be a twelve touch of game kind of guy.
But I do think like it was pretty interesting I
mean this was legitimately playing running back. You know, they
tossed him the ball, they handed him the ball, he
(10:39):
threw it to them out of the backfield, and then
he played a little bit of his normal receiver stuff too,
And so like, I just think the more ways you
can find to get him in space the better. Like
throwing the ball down the field to him has not
worked this year. They've targeted him seven times on balls
that have been there twenty plus yards and it's it's
zero for seven. So it's been tough flooding in that regard.
(11:01):
So find out the rights to get him the ball.
And you know, like Julil McLoughlin is a useful player
and he's probably done his best work in the red
zone that they haven't generated a ton just in the
mixed down stuff and all of that. So if you
can put a little bit of a different tutter, if
you can put a little bit of a different speed
element in the backfield and see what it looks like,
(11:22):
why not. You know, I think they're trying to find
ways to be creative and diverse offensively without needing to
rely on throwing the ballway down the field. And if
this is one way to do that, then, you know,
let's see more of it.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
I'm with you on that.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
I'd like to see them hit him on the crossers,
let him create with the ball in space. Same thing
with Troy Franklin, who I think is better with his
numbers back toward the quarterbacks than trying to go over
his shoulder down the sideline.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
But that's that's a conversation for the today.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Let's come to the field goal that wasn't you know
Leosh and all of Kansas City pointed out to Kansas
City had noticed something on tape with the left side
of that line. You go back and you look at
you but it's readily apparent that left side been pushed
around on field goals all year.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
But it wasn't just that.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
We also saw Will Lutz look like he was using
the one wood to club that thing from you know,
from way out when really you needed the nine iron
and to chip shot that thing hit at a different angle.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Combination of things that went wrong on that play. How
has Sean Payton addressed that?
Speaker 1 (12:18):
I know we had comments from him today and can
we expect to see some changes with that going forward?
Speaker 3 (12:24):
It sounded like it, you know, I mean Sean is
not usually one to say, yes, I'm going to bench
so and so and put in so and so. But
did sound like they would at least look at someone
besides Alex Forsythe in that spot. And like I said, Ben,
I mean I went back and looked at all forty
of their extra points and field goal attempts so far
(12:45):
this year, and Forsythe has been knocked down on that
place fifteen times and forty kicks, and so that's just
you know, and again like part of it. And I
don't mean it to sound like it's Alex Forsythe getting
completely thrown out of the bus here like that. You
can get pushed back on a field goal and it's
fine most of the time, you know, but in crunch time,
(13:06):
if you're liable to get pushed back or knocked over,
that's that can be a problem. And for the first time,
really it was a problem yesterday and it obviously cost
them a lot. So I think you're right, Like all
the whole thing was sort of weird, you know, like
moved like estimate ran to the middle and then they
moved the spot to the right. Hash that that inherently
(13:28):
means you're sort of kicking back into the left side
and then obviously the left side gave in, and it
just it didn't look good from the start. And if
you go back and watch, you know, the long field
goal attemper at four halftime and then also just before that,
the extra point in the second touchdown after Courtland Sutn'
(13:50):
thirty two yard touchdown, like Sheanel ran over for nypon
both of those and then did it again and got
home in crunch time. And so, you know, im Paigton
in his own way today sort of said they got got,
you know, like the Kansas City found that mon tape
and exploited it, and the Broncos either thought they had
at sixth when really they didn't, or they didn't know
(14:13):
what a problem was in the first place. And so
certainly that will be, you know, a priority this week.
I would imagine to show that up.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
High flying Falcons coming up this week.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
But then a very winnable slate, I mean, not that
the Falcons game is not winnable, but then a very
winnable slate behind the Falcons as you look at what
the Broncos have, you know, following that, you you look
at excuse me, you look at Las Vegas. Even in
Vegas that figures to be wittable. Cleveland team, it doesn't
look very good the bye week. Then you've got the Colts.
You could feasibly win the next four. I mean you
(14:44):
don't want to look ahead, but you could feasibly win
the next four. All of a suddenly nine and five
with the with the second medius part of the schedule
to end the season.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
How do you think this thing shakes out?
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Broncos sitting there at five hundred, how do you think
this thing shakes out going down the back half of
the schedule.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Yeah, I mean I think it. You know, it's never
quite as easy as when you look at it on
paper and say, yeah, you know, winnable game, winnable game,
winnable game. But but certainly they are. And so you know,
I think this team has shown the ability. They won
five out of six. If they do that again, they're
in the playoffs. So that that's sort of the challenge here.
And even you know, every year it seems like we
(15:19):
look at it and say, oh, maybe this is you know,
since the schedule expanded, the seventeen games and the playoffs
will expanded, I feel like we always look at it
and say, oh, this is the year nine. Nine might
get it done. But this actually looks like the year
nine might get it done. There's just not a lot
of teams that really look like they're in contention, and
and you know, they all lost this week. Cincinnati lost,
(15:41):
the Jets lost, the Colts lost, the Broncos lost, Like
who else is there? You know, Miami's winning right now,
but they're two and six, So the Broncos are in
a pretty good spot. And if they especially given that
they have you know, Indianapolis and Cincinnati is still on
the schedule, if they take care of business against those teams,
(16:05):
like who is going to pass them into the playoff field.
So you know, it's one thing to say, oh Cincinnati
that you know they could get hot and win five
or six in a row. They're very talented, but they
haven't shown the ability to do that so far. So,
you know, take care of business in the games that
you're going to be favored in or that are sort
of the toss up side of games. If you win
your fair share of those, you're going to be right
(16:25):
in the mix. I think, come come mid to late December,
Parker Gabriel Parker J.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Gabriel on Twitter for the dever post. Parker, we appreciate
it as always, brother, you bet have a good night, absolutely,
park Gabriel look for seeing him later on. This week
we got to hit a break. We come back, We'll
go around the league. This a little sound from the
week that buss brocous Country Night five six six nine
zero is the text line. I want to thank Cody
Rourke for joining us earlier. Harrison Wind as well in
(16:53):
Parker Gabriel in the last segment. If you've missed any
of that, you go to Brocos Country Night dot com,
slash podcast where we get your podcast Apple, it Tunes, Spotify,
te Afraid alsome. I heard radio app it almost nailed it.
What do you get to take for a podcast as well?
Which is awesome and you should listen to it.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
I got a great text on the text line during
the break.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
From the seven two er said, why don't they increase
the distance the line of scrimmage to where the field
goal kicker kicks the ball?
Speaker 2 (17:21):
And I'll tell you that the answer for that is
rather simple.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
If you move it back, you give that edge rusher
a straight line, a b line back to the ball.
The idea is much like with a pass protection, you
want to create a bit of a pocket and make
somebody have to create an angle, a one two angle,
rather than just a straight b line rush back there.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
It's also why when you talk about.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Quarterbacks that drift right, when you talk about quarterbacks that drift.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
Back in the pocket, how they become easy sack targets.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
And I'll point out a specific broncle that used to
do that in Trevor Simeon.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
You know, that's what it is.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
When you get too far back, you just basically give
those edge guys a straight line back to you instead
of having to round the arc to come back there
to try to sack you. And so that's why they don't.
That's why they don't move the distance back on the
on the thing, like when you have the setup there
for the field goal. That's that's the reason why. Maybe
other reasons as well, but that's the specific reason in
(18:18):
this particular case.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
I wanted to get a look at there. Come see
that right there.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
I wanted to get a look around the league at
some of the things that happened this weekend.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
So we will do that now.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Carolina Panthers took on the New York Giants there in Germany,
and it was a case of either one of these
two teams trying to cough it up enough for the
other team to win at a holder. Don't snap good,
hold tick that is good, Just be over pennero coult game.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Here in Germany. The Panthers when the walk up win
over the Giants.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
Charamunic that called courtesy of Jason Horowitz from Westwood One.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Alive out there in Germany. The Panthers raced out to
a ten to nothing the lead. The Giants came all
the way back to force overtime and then funneled it
right at the start of overtime to give it right
back to the Carolina Panthers, who end up getting the wind. Elsewhere,
Buffalo taking on the Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Colts and Joe Flacco is still out there.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Josh Allen started off a little shaky, get a little
better as it went along.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Alan in the shotgun.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Here's the staff and off No, it's a keeper for
Allen through the left side.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Ten five and he's into the end zone for the touchdown.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
The beast has been released.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
At thirteen yard touchdown run by Alan.
Speaker 5 (19:37):
That concert's see of Chris Brown from WGR.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
The Beast has been released, also the name of a
failed nineties soda slogan, the Beast, So keep that in mind.
The Buffalo Bill's running away with the division over there
as it is absolutely terrible with the Patriots Dolphins. It's
just at the Jets. A joke of an east And
speaking of the New York Jets, the Arizona Cardinals suddenly
(20:02):
hot and resurging Arizona Cardinals took it to the New York.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
Jets this weekend.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
He snapped to Murray, and he's gonna keep it running
right to the outside.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Ten stays in bounds in the five and into the.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
End zone for a second touchdown.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
But he takes the football and hoists it into the
casino that called. Courtesy of Dave Pash from k MVP.
Kyler Murray missed two whole passes on the day, twenty two.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
To twenty four to two hundred and sixty six yards
and a touchdown through the air, three carries twenty one
two more touchdowns on the ground for Kyler Murray.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
The Jets looked like the game had passed.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
The Buyer Rogers finished twenty to thirty five, one hundred
and fifty one yards, no touchdowns. The run game couldn't
get much going seventeen carries for seventy seven yards.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Briest Hall did okay, Braylen Allen not so much.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
And as you look around, Devanta Adams thirteen targets but
only six catches for thirty one yards. I was worried
that adding him was not the key ingredients. You took
Jeff Ulbridge off, a defensive coordator with a defense that
was working.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
You got rid of Roberts. Wasn't the problem, and things
are falling to shambles for the New York Jets.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Last night might have been the second biggest heartbreaker outside
of the Denver Broncos Kansas City game, as the Houston
Texans took on the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
Scrapped by his Woultzon to the shotgun. Now we'll bring
Mixon twelve outside the Hubbers on the right end post
and he's gonna hand it to him. Sneaping a on
the left side. Nixon turns the corner, lures the shoulder into.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
The indisode touchdown Texans.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
That called courtesy of Ryan Ragkey Westwood one. But of
course we know the Lions would go on to break
the Texans hearts. Yes, Jake Bates with two field.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Goals inside the last five six of the game, a
fifty eight and a fifty two yard are both sneaking
in by a whisker to get the victory.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
There.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Jared Goff five interceptions in the game, dangerously approaching Nathan
Peterman territory.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
There, we came close.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
I saw Ryan Fitzpatrick had a tweet about we're getting
close to having my name on the broadcast. Time to
put the kids to bed portion of it as the
teams combined for seven interceptions and an ugly game brown
game of Detroit stronger than the ground game for Houston
and carried them in that one, the La Chargers took
it on the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
The Titans got Will Levis back, but not enough to
take on the Chargers who are surging town. Third down,
Herbert looking looking throwing for Quinton Claw touchstown helerber to
justin sixteen yards.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
That called courtesy of Matt money Smith from KYSR.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
I'm starting to get a little worried.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
About the Chargers, Yeah, I said, I think they belong
on that tier with some of the other teams up there.
They play incredible defense. They run the ball really well.
This was a tough game for them to run the ball,
they still ran a ball well. Gus Edwards back off injury,
ten carries fifty five yards.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
JK. Dobbins didn't have his best game. Lad McConkey two catches.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Fifty two yards to lead the receivers for the Chargers,
and the Titans just looked like a mess. They already
had a fire sales, a big day for Calvin Ridley,
but basically everybody else they're pretty much a non factor.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Minnesota Vikings taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars and the battle
of who could care less.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
As Sam Darnold started melting back into a potato, the
Vikings blitz max On Mac.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
On a very deep drop. He's gonna throw it right,
nobody's there.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
With the exception.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Come on, Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
Vikings, who picked him off ken reception can fine them tender.
Minnesota Vikings are going to improve plus seven and two.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
That call from Paul Allen with k FA in and
they relied on the defense for this w Yeah, the
teams combined for five interceptions, neither quarterback threw a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Sam Donald three picks in the game, the ground game
for the Minnesota Vikings making up the difference largely with
Aaron Jones in that when Mac Jones, quarterbacking for Jacksonville,
ran in the Yeah, Mac Jones ran in the game's
only offensive touchdown, and it wound up being being a
twelve seven game that mines soda squeaked out. Minnesota continues
(24:01):
to win football games out there, largely this game in
courtesy of their defense.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Jacksonville headed for a complete overhaul.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
No firing now this offseason, not yet, but I mean
at this point, I mean, what are you gonna do.
Pay Doug Peterson sill on the couch. You might as
well make him coach for you. At this point, you're
gonna be losing either way. New England Patriots took on
the Chicago Bears battle of the rookie quarterbacks. Drake May
versus Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
May with the Playfick and the Pilo receiver left, Pulp
in the toy ileague left.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
And cauch ctch down.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
Patriots Bob Socie with the call there from w b Z,
And what's going on with Caleb Williams and the Bears.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Well, they're making some changes on their offense, Shane Walder
and I've said from the beginning was the wrong hire there.
And Kayleb Williams sixteen to thirty hundred and twenty yards,
no touchdowns. DeAndre Swift sixteen carries fifty nine yards. That
was just a poor showing from the offense overall. The
offensive line can't protect and they just can't get anything going.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Kayleb Williams looks shell shocks mean.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
While Drake May fifteen to twenty five hundred and eighty
four yards a touchdown man an interception also ran for
times twenty four yards.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
His biggest receiver on the day was Austin Hooper, who
knew he was still in the league. Three catches sixty
four yards on four targets to Mario Douglas also had
four catches for fifty yards as well.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
You know, in the battle of the rookie quarterbacks. Drake May,
who did not start.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Most of the early part of the season, but has
also looked fairly decent as he has played so far
as well, The Bear's got some figuring out to do
and probably overhauling their coaching staff after the season as well.
New Orleans taking on the Atlanta Falcons and Saints got
risen up for this one.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Go up down and gotta get to the thirty nine.
Cousins throws it clean. That took me to the hall game.
It's ball game. Ball o'clock's got to continued. BALLI bags
are gonna win. It's ball games.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Yeah, tackling and time.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
It's ball game.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
That duce McAllister with Mike coss of WWOL Division games
are the best man.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Yeah, dude's trying to point out that that was.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
That was over a spectacular offensive day from the Atlanta Falcons.
Kirk Cousin threw for three hundred six yards but no
touchdowns on the interception. B Shawn Robinson twenty carries a
buck sixteen two touchdowns, Tyler Algeer eleven carries fifty nine yards,
Drake London at ninety seven receiving, Darnel.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Moody at ninety six receiving.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
There was all kinds of fireworks all over the place
of the Falcons just couldn't put the end zo. I mean,
while Derek Carr sixteen to twenty five two sixty nine,
two touchdowns and Alvin Kamara another one hundred or ninety
nine yard day in terms of total yards. Marquez Valdez
scantling the difference in this one with three catches for
one hundred nine yards and two touchdowns for the Saints,
getting interim.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
Coach Darren Rizzy to a win in his debut.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Philadelphia Eagles took on the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
And you probably know how this one wound up.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Hurts keeps it look touch back in side touchdown number ten,
Hurts the peper.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
What a great call stun of the season.
Speaker 5 (26:53):
Meyril Reese on the call of wip. When are they
gonna put some curtains in Cowboys Stadium?
Speaker 2 (26:59):
They need to put some sun visor on it or something.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Jerry Jones actively costing his team points multiple times.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
As far as this one goes, it was never closed.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
The final was thirty four to six, and the win
probability model Philadelphia was never less than seventy five point
four percent, and now was with the Opie kickoff, absolute demolishing.
Kenny Pickett was in for almost the full fourth quarter.
Saquon Barkley fourteen carries sixty six yards at a catch
for twelve as well. Dallas Goddard got a touchdown in
this one. Jalen Hurts ran it for two and threw
for two, also throwing an interception and was mistake free football.
(27:30):
Cooper Rush started the game thirteen of twenty three, and
if I had you guess at the total number of
yards that went four, I promised you wouldn't get it
because it was forty five. Gray Lance came in went
four of six for twenty one yards and an interception.
Rico Dowdle the only effective thing. They even had twelve
carries fifty three yards. As the Cowboys continue to fade
into oblivion and perhaps be on the on the speed
(27:53):
dial for Bill Belichick this offseason will.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
Be reported during the Broncos broadcast. They're already doing some research.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
I already do research some background on Bill Belichick. Jerry
Jones reached out to Bill Parcells. So we'll see how
that one ends up.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
Philadelphia, Vic Fangio run the defense and Kellimore run the offense.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
They looked like they might be they might be back.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
They've got Washington still in that division, but it looks
like a two horse race there in the NFC E
San Francisco take it on Tampa Bay and it's the
return of Christian McCaffery. Purdy quick snap looks right Purty
time Purdy crushed out to us right now, and I
still keep the ball enrolled. It was left beat to
Vega chasing and to get some showers around throws to
the back of the ends. I'm caught Unt George Chittle touchdown,
(28:39):
Sir f F.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
Francisco always loved Greg Papa's calls from KNBR And what
did you think of Christian McCaffrey in his return?
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Look it look pretty good. He's just still got some
rush to shake off. The running course isn't quite there,
but but he'll get there.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
Tampa led seventeen thirteen in the fourth quarter about ten
minutes to go and just couldn't hold him off.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
They managed to tie it up at at twenty all.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
Jake Moody missed three field goals in this one for
San Francisco, finishing three of six.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Did you see the video of Deebo Samuel just get
into that.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Yeah, Deebo shoved a long snapper Tabor Pepper, who stood
up for Moody after another miss, Deebo went after his throat.
McCaffery finished thirteen carries thirty nine yards, bought six catches
for sixty eight yards, and was effective in the past game,
Ricky Pearson caught a touchdown, George Kittle caught the touchdown
you just heard Rock Party twenty five of thirty six
for three to fifty three, and that one. Baker missing
most of his receivers largely in effective eighteen to twenty
(29:27):
nine hundred and sixteen yards at a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Rashad White the leading receiver for the Buccaneers.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Bucky Irving, though thirteen carries, seventy three yards and a touchdown, kept.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Them in it. Good for my fantasy team, Yeah, me too.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
It's gonna be interesting to see if if the Buccaneers
fade without having all those receivers anymore. The best wide
receiver that they had was Ryan Miller one catch for
eleven yards. Starling Shepherd had one catch for seven yards
as Rashad White, Katott, and Bucky Irving led the receiving
efforts for Tampa in that win.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
And then.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
It was our beloved Commanders coach Pagano, our commander in
chief Dan Quinn Jayden Daniels taking.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
On Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
Wilson settles back, raises the foot, gets the snap back
to pass.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Looking could have floated up left for Williams and why.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Are you hit the end zone?
Speaker 1 (30:17):
What to throw?
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Wa catch?
Speaker 4 (30:20):
Mike Williams did his first game in a Steelers uniform,
has hauled in a thirty two yard touchdown strike from
Russell Wilson.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
Mike Williams staying on that red line and they're letting
Russ cook and Pittsburgh that called courtesy of Rob King
with w dve Pittsburgh with a perfectly symmetrical box score,
scoring a touchdown in every quarter.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
If finished the game twenty eight, twenty seven, the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Would have had a chance.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
They got to stop on the Steelers who came out
on fourth down to try to draw the Commanders off sides,
and Russell Wilson drew the rookies ers on Newton off sides.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Oh it was. It was a hard count. Barkin got
him to jump and man it was it was.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
It was over after that, just needed the kneel downs
on that Russ finish fourteen to twenty one hundred ninety
five yards, three touchdowns through the air, four carries, three
yards on the ground. Jay leb Warren led the rushing
effort for the Steelers. Fourteen carries sixty six yards, but
he did lose a fumble. Not Gie Harris twenty one
fifty three in a touchdown over there on the Commanders side,
jayde Daniel seventeen.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
To thirty four two hundred and two yards.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
Austin Eckler thirteen carries forty four yards, two tuties on
the ground.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Jeremy Nichols four carries seven yards, one touchdown.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
Terry McLoughlin was the only effective offensive weapon for the Commanders.
Five catches for one hundred thirteen yards. Everyone else below
thirty yards for the Commanders. As the Steelers have announced
they are back with Russ Cooking.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
They're in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
They are backed.
Speaker 5 (31:35):
Man, you want to end this one with a little
heartbreak with the Chiefs call of the final field goal, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Let's do it.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
Thirty five yard at camp from the far Hash Raboni
is the longest snaper looks waiting for the snap.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Place wins down. Let's just take us Bodnick buck bo.
That's Afeck. I'm gonna stay undefitted.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
I can't just they.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
Chase plucked a thirty five ark field goal attack.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Ken Zaus City wins this game on the block field.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
Goal that called courtesy of Mitch Holtis, with w DA
snatching victory the jaws of defeat.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
Tomorrow on Moroccos Country. Tonight, we'll put this one behind us.
We're putting it to bed. We're focused on the Falcons.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
How about the game plan to win this thing?
Speaker 1 (32:24):
