on the Falcons here on Sunday and Nick, as I
look at this thing, there are a couple of things
to me that they jump out of. The Broncos is
gonna have to get the run game going east west

(00:42):
against the slow Falcons defense. They're going to have to
find ways to with all the corners the Falcons have
out pick on that third corner slot because they're missing
their number two corners and their slot corner. You have
to find ways to pick on that third corner that
they're going to have out there in the past game.
And I think offensively, you got to take points wherever
possible because the Falcons are going to put them up

(01:02):
to well.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
The points are going to be plentiful for the Broncos
this weekend. It's just a matter of can they really
pull things off because what I mean by that and
what we've seen this trend for the Broncos of a
couple of games where there's a positive play, but then
there's a holding, there is an issue with the formation

(01:26):
which takes that big play off the board.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
So the Broncos is gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Have to be clean as far as that is concerned. Now,
if the Broncos can get that aspect of the game correct,
and that is kind of a discipline and focus game,
they should be okay. Now here's what I would like
to see them do, especially known as though you're facing
a Falcons defense that is one of the worst in
the NFL as far as giving up completions and also

(01:51):
putting pressure on the quarterback. And what we know is
bo Nicks, dating back to his days in college, he's
done well with under pressure. He's also done well with
the clean pocket. With that being said, Ben, I would
like to see the Broncos instead of running so many
reduced formations, open.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
It up, spread it out right, spreading against the slow
defense like this.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Absolutely, this is gonna be a game. And this is
what I want everyone to pay attention to. Using both athleticism.
And I'm not just saying you're calling an abundance of
court design quarterback run place. No, it's gonna happen naturally
and organically because.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Things are gonna break down.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Lanes are gonna open, and what I want him to
see I want to see Bow take advantage of when
those lanes open, put the pressure on the defense, because
if Bow starts to run because there's a natural lane
that's given a defense that's already struggling to put pressure
on the quarterback, is only going to stress them out
even more so. Now the fogers are gonna have to

(02:50):
try to get Justine Simmons or Baits put them in
someone of a robber technique where they got to come down,
they got to spy from depth, and if they do that,
then now that's opening up receivers on the outside to
take to take advantage of.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, to me, this feels like a game this offense
could possibly get right, you know what I mean, Not
that they're not, but this could be one of those
tune ups, tune up type games, because you're up against
the defense. It's frankly not good. They don't get after
the quarterback. They're nine sacks on the season.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Nine That is absurdly bad, worse in the league.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
They don't pressure very well, as as our guest earlier
from from ESPN, excuse me, Mark Romandi reminded us their
best pressure guy is Kayen Ellis, who's coming in from
an inside backer position, and Grady Jarrett. And that's I mean,
that's tough. When you're not able to pressure off the
edges like that, that's tough. You look at the splits

(03:41):
on bow Knicks and what he is when he's not
under pressure versus under pressure this year, and it is
a marked difference.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
You don't put pressure on him, he eats you up.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
We saw that against New Orleans, we saw that against Tampa.
You don't, you don't get pressure on on bow Nicks
and he will eat you up. So I liked the
idea of you know, getting that.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Early lead and then trying some stuff, well, trying some
stuff you scare me with it?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
What kind of are you talking about it?

Speaker 4 (04:04):
Like gadget plays, because it's not just sill of gadget plays,
but like working concepts, you know, sitting there and trying
to work specific concepts that you want to that you
want to brush up on, that you want to be
a staple part of your office that haven't.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Been working for you for whatever reason.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Well, you can only do that if you are playing
someone with the lead, and so far of the season
there's only been a couple of games with the Broncos.
We're playing, in fact with the lead. Now the biggest
issue for the Broncos. We know first quarters, starting fast.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Third quarter coming out of half, and finish earning.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Up strong in the fourth quarter have proved to be
big issues for the Broncos of the past two games.
This Falcons team should provide the opportunity for the Broncos
who take advantage of certain things. And hopefully this is
the game that we see a guy like Marvin Mims.
Instead of running east to west, he's running north and

(04:54):
I'm gonna go say south, he's just running north.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Well, yeah, I would like to see Marvin Mims on
vertical stuff. I'd like to see them take some shots.
I'd like to see them try to get that that
down both vertical with him and with Troy Franklin. You
can't do those things without e Leaite obviously, but I
would like to see them hopefully get out to the
early pour the points on early so that you can
get a chance to get out there and try some
of these things and get some of these connections down
that have been missing.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
You know what, I don't know about you, but when
I drive around.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Especially when I drive the Broncos games, even though I'm
not playing anymore, I like to drive and play a
little music togain and get me ready for the game.
I think I know the exact song that Sean Payton
should play as.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
He's driving, Go ahead, little job, shot shots Shot shot,
Shot shots, Shot shot shot shot. Tell me that clip.
That is what Sean Payton should be playing.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
It should be on a repeat because this is definitely
a team in the secondary thing.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
He can definitely take advantage of it, and he should
do it this game well.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
And look and I'm with you on that, and I
would love to see that. I will say this if
Atlanta gets up to an early lead. Oh that though,
maybe Broncos fans that are taking shot shots shots shots
over there at the bar, because you know, the thing
has a potentially get ugly quick look. Defensively on this
the Broncos are going to have to find a way
to match up across the board. You've got a lot
of great players on his Falcons offense. Moon he's underrated nationally.

(06:15):
I think Broncos fans will come to know him after
this game, assuming the Achilles doesn't slow him down. Drake
London is a phenomenal football player who's finally being used
in the way that he should be. Kyle Pitts, I
think we all know what the athleticism is there in
his ability, and we've seen Vance Joseph defense just struggle
against the tight end before.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Well yeah, I mean we've seen that before. And Kyle Pitts,
to his credit, he is a good sight end. He's
got a lot of skills. But they haven't really used
Kyle Pitts that much. I mean, I remember sitting in
with you during the trade deadline and we were trying
to see exactly it was a Thursday night football game,
see how many touches that Pitts was gonna have, and

(06:51):
he really featured him in that offense and we thought, okay,
well they're doing it as a way of trying to
trade him, but that that didn't happen. So we know
that the Titands have given the Broncos some issues. But
the great part about it is that you have to
have time to find cole pits. And we know that
the Broncos will have opportunities to get after Kirk Cousins

(07:14):
because if his depth is seven to eight yards.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
He's going to be there when you get there.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Right. He can't really move that well and the only
thing that he can do is being able to get
the ball out of his hands as quickly as possible.
And the thing is, and you said it, the last
thing that Broncos want is to allow the Falcons to
dictate the pace in the tempo, because they have two

(07:40):
running backs that can really slow things down and beat
you up at the same time you want to get
out front star fast. But Kirk Cousins in the similar
situations he's been at with the Falcons, the Commanders and
the Falcon and the Vikings, and that's chasing points.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
And when he does that, he makes a lot of mistakes.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah he does, And I think that's what you need
to do again if we've talked about this over and over,
but I do believe that Denver needs to get out
to the quick lead here. This isn't like Kansas City
where you wanted to hang around and then have a
shot at the end, which is what they did and
then you know that we know what happened.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Uh. This is a game where you need.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
To get out in front because if you don't and
you keep playing for this is this.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Could turn into a shootout.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Atlanta loves to be even with you and then play
the shootout game. If they get ahead, they don't relinquish it.
They've got a good one two punch. B Jehan Robinson,
uh And and Tyler Algier give you a one to
two punch and then you can hit the play action
game with with Kyle Pitts when you're biting up on
that run and they do that, and they do it well.
The last thing you want to do is get down
multiple scores to Atlanta and then try to battle your

(08:40):
way back.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Well for if you Rayie Moore is the head coach
with Atlanta Falcons. If in the fourth quarter, you're in
a situation where the game is closed like it was
last week with the Broncos play Kansas City. That's the
game you want to be in, right because being able
to make the plays and the fining, the final, the
final moment of a game, that's where Rahiem and Kirk

(09:03):
Cousins would like to live because looking at the Broncos
defense and you say, well, who has the more superior defense,
no question, hand down easily the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
So if the Falcons.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Are able to keep it close heading into the fourth quarter,
they're going to say they're going to think, we have
the Broncos exactly where we want them. And the idea
is that the Broncos got to keep their foot on
the gas and whatever. If you have a couple of
successful runs or pass plays, it's not the moment to
abandon them and say, well, you know what, they figured
it out, so we can't do that anymore.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
No, keep piling it on until they stop it.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
How much of a factor is a probably emotional justin Simmons,
in this game.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
It's going to be big.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
At the beginning of the game, you walk back into
a stadium that you have called home for almost eight years,
but this time you're not going into the Broncos locker room.
Going into the Way locker room, things are gonna be different.
You're gonna see some staff as you're walking in. People
are gonna say, you know, hi, Justin Simmons. When you

(10:08):
come out of the tunnel, there's gonna be Broncos fans
who are going.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
To clap for you and call your name.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Obviously, you're gonna look around the stadium and it just like,
this is where I live for almost eight years, and
this is where I made my home. But once again,
after he goes back into that locker room and he
gets dressed and he comes out and he's in the
Falcons uniform, all of that is washed away and the
only thing that's on his mind and at that point

(10:34):
is trying to get a w and trying to do
it against his former team.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
And it's like the best of both worlds can be.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
You're able to get to win, right, So now the
Falcons could go to seventy two, and then now you
could beat the Broncos. I mean, you can walk away happy,
But I don't think that's gonna happen on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Well, okay, then let's get right into it. The Broncos win,
if what the Falcons win?

Speaker 3 (10:55):
If what well the Falcons win, if somehow they can capitalize,
they can force some turnovers and capitalize are off of turnovers.
Now we know that the Falcons are really talented, so
you don't want to give them a short field and
you don't want to turn it over, which we've seen
the Broncos on the first possession of a couple of
games turn the ball over, put the opponent on a

(11:16):
short field and now they're down seven points. So you
don't want to do that. The Broncos win, And there's
a couple of things. Ben We already know what the
defense is going to do, but I want to focus
more on.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
The officer side of the ball.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
If they can somehow get some type of run game
established right, and that means not just the running back,
but the old line being able to dominate the line
of scrimmage, which they should be able to do, and
keeping you know, bow clean and not having those early turnovers.
If the Broncos are able to do those and for me,

(11:49):
very simple keys to the game, facing against facing off
against the Falcons, that should be doing.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
But if they're able to do it, Broncos win.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Yeah, I think I look at this and I hate
to be this reductive, but I look at this as
the Broncos don't turn the ball over on offense and
they don't have busted plays on defense, they win this game, right,
And I hate to make it that reductive, but I
feel it feels like if you're playing even football, coins
flip football at this thing, the Broncos had the edge.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
You're at home.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
You do have the superior defense who could probably hold
that offense to field goals at times. We talked about
that with Mark earlier when he was on The Falcons
are the number three yardage team in the NFL, but
they're only fifteenth of scoring. They get bogged down in
the red zone, and that offense has not been as
effective as the red zone as it needs to be.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
No, they haven't.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
And here's the other thing that is a huge ally
for the Denver Broncos, but we haven't really seen them
exploited over the past couple of years.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
And what I mean is, hurry, hurray, hurry up to tempo.
We've seen some tempo shifts and receive it.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
We've seen it glimpses right right, Like I've seen a
sheet before I've seen the trailer.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
I want to see the movie now. Yes, yes, yes,
that's exactly what it's been for the Broncos. So don't, don't.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Don't the idea of running some temple, no, no, run
it and you don't have to run it all the time.
The way that I look at it, Ben, is give
me a little Nascar, you know, speed it up, slow
it down.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Yeah, next way you should be.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
I like the idea of hurrying it up when you convert,
you convert the first down and hurrying it up, having
a play call for you know, and hurrying it up,
not letting them sub on those kinds of places, putting
a little confusion in there. See what you can get.
If you get the right look, you take the shot.
If not, you hand it all. I like that that
they've kind of done that. I just christ they would
expand on it just a little bit. Like I said,
i've seen the previews, I've seen the trailer. I want
to see the movie now.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
Sometimes when you see the preview, it ruins the whole movie.
Oh yeah, you cramb the whole movie and the trailer underneath.
But I've seen enough. I've seen. Okay, I am interested
in this I would like to see this.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Well, we've seen the Broncos offense actually functioning at a
high level when they're playing with Temple. Remember the opening
sequence of the game against Tampa Bay. How the Broncos
took the ball down the field and score. Like the
Broncos has they haven't done that consistently. And I can
tell you being a defensive player, dude, when the team
takes the ball the opening drive, it is so freaking

(14:07):
demoralized and it's just like being in a boxing match.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
It's like, man, we just got hit in the face.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
Yeah, they had the scription and they executed that script
as well.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Yeah, it can be.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Every defensive player I've talked to hates the idea of
facing hurry up offense or tempo based offense on the
opening drive because there's communication stuff as you're trying to
figure stuff out, get you're just getting settled in game mode,
you're still playing off off that emotion coming right into the.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Game and all that kind of stuff, And they hate.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Everybody I've ever talked to hates the idea of an
offense going up tempo in the opening series.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Well, okay, well we've been talking about it, you know,
over the past couple of week. Well, what is it
something that the Broncos don't do well? They don't do well,
don't excel in great third quarter production straight out at
the gate, So you can you can kind of book
in the quarters. Why not book in but start things
off both quarters, like in the first quarter going tempo,

(14:57):
coming out of halftime, if you have the ball going temple,
because your body is at a state of rest and
now you're trying to get it into a metabolic stage
where you're constantly moving around and you're thinking. And I
can tell you this man that, and I've learned this myself.
For some reason, when you're tired, you can't think, and

(15:20):
the only thing you can think about is I'm tired, right,
Because if you're thinking I'm tired, if there's a two
hundred and sixty pound lineman, a seventy eighty pound linemen
coming around the corner, you're not trying to get in
his way. I mean, then you might as well be
a manager and go, oh, lay and let him run
right past you.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Yeah, it's yeah. Do you think they'll run the ball
at justin Yes? But here here's really well.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Well, I know where you're going with that, I know
exactly where you're going with it. Yes, because the Broncos
have to establish a run and it can't be just
this idea and concept, Oh just run the ball, well,
you have to run the ball with with purpose within
right now. Usually they try to keep justin in the
middle of the field. But it's gonna be interesting to

(16:07):
see if they're going to force him to tackle.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
They will be. We'll we'll keep our eye on that.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
More to come on that we come back see NFL
six pack right here on Brocos Country Night.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Shot Shots, Shot Shot, Shot Shots, Shot Shot.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
You can go to Nick Ferguson's Twitter accounts and see
some of the awesome fashion choices that I've made over
the years.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
Us and somehow your glittery shirt isn't glittering the photo,
it looks like you have blood. It looks even more
madly because it looks like you got shot. It looks
like blood on your your hood right there does not do.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
The You can't see the sparkles.

Speaker 5 (16:40):
That's because I'm like, it's I'm like, what kind of
photo filter did you use?

Speaker 3 (16:44):
Him?

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Is it blinding me? Last night?

Speaker 5 (16:47):
It looks like it looked like he was shot doubling
for Wayne Newton last night and then and now it
looks like he's stud doubling for Fitty after he got
you know, after he got popped.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
Wait wait see, basically the photo that I put up,
it shows the public exactly what the the shirt, the
sweatshirt is. It represents it well, yes, because if it
was truly the dads who it would be glistening a
lot more than it is.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
So there it is facts, people, I just gave you facts. Yes,
I don't think that's it. I don't think that's in
disputed his facts. It's photos. It's not here said in filters.
They got on this thing. Man, I don't know. I
know what I saw with my own eyes last night. Yeah,
I'm just saying you're behind the glass. You were glasses.
So are you sure what you say? I know because

(17:34):
these glasses work. I have him on see see in
the regular glasses. Look a beer gogles. As we get together,
it's time for the NFL sick pat.

Speaker 5 (17:45):
Now I'm gonna trade a lot of beer insight information
you can't find anywhere else.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
The top six NFL headline was he who was missed
five of ten games.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
Hope all the injury stuff is behind him on Sunday
night to be back from a quad injury caused him
missed the last three games. Although some people suspected that
was could be traded itis. You'll see Higgins today. He
said Benbaby o ESPN dot Com that he's very excited
to get back out there with the guys.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
He's sitting there watching. I hate it, you know what
I'm saying. Not being able to contribute to help get
a win.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
It sucks.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
I'm very excited to go out there and fight.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Higgins suffered the injury practice on a Thursday last month.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Lasted multiple weeks.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
Higgins said, I was still feeling it, but I feeled
amazing this week.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
I'm ready to go. Higgins, who is.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Playing under the one year franchise tag, has no reason
to play unless he's one hundred percent and no security
beyond the current season. Every practice, every game brings an
injury risk that will derail free agency payday In twenty
twenty five, Higgins missed the first two games of the
season due to hamstring injuries. Presidence should make the difference
for the four and six Bengals seven games left, they
need to go at least five and two to have
a shot making the playoffs. Sunday's Nights game against the

(18:51):
Chargers won't be easy, and again a few games have
been easy for the Bengals this year. Higgins is seeking
twenty five to twenty eight million per year at eighty
million guaranteed this offseason.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Well, Higgins while injured, I would say, man not playing
is not helping us at all, because if you're looking
to cash in like that, teams want to to see, well,
what can you do? They don't want to try to
buy something as is. If you ever try to buy
a car as is, I mean, there's not a lot

(19:22):
of value and the warrants he is in there, So
at some point he's got to get on the field
if he wants that big payday.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
Yeah, I think that he's got to get out there
in showcase. So I don't think he's getting that kind
of money right now. I just just might Grant's facial
expression right now. I just don't think he's getting that
kind of money. They could be without some key players
defensive and Nick Bosa, tight end George Kittle, and left
tackle Trump.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
Williams Old questionable as a Niners.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
So I think in a third game Sunday against the Seahawks.
Williams has an ankle and Nick Bosa has a hip
issue and tight end George Kittle hamstring.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
All is this question well.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Bosa return to limited work on Friday, after just saying
Wednesday and Thursday, Kittle had a second consecutive limited practice.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Williams did not practice this week at all. Or Nighters
have already ruled.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
Out defensive tackle Kevin Gibbons, corner Sharbarius Ward, and punter
Mitch Wishnowski sos Kyle Shanahan said Friday Wishnowski as a
candidate for the ile or corner Derre Luter is doubtful
off his guard Aaron Banks, center John Feliciano, and defensive
end Yeer bross Matos are questionable, although all expected to play.
And running back Christian McCaffrey Achilles return to full participation,
has no designation.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Became metcalf for the Seahawks. He is back as well.
Do we think the Niners are in trouble with this
many players bang up? No, The Niners are selling that
they have a certain type of resolve.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Remember McCaffrey was out for a while and you so
Deevo having some Niches and George Kiddle. They just found
ways to win games. And that's the great thing about
their roster. And you got to take the Cats and
both Senny and for you know, developing this scheme to
allow those players to excel, but also John Lynch for
giving him the type of players that for adequate depth.

(21:00):
So no, I'm not worried about forty nine is because
here's what's happening, Ben were those players that are injured
being out allows a lot of those other players who
normally wouldn't get up to any play to get valuable
playing the spears, which will pay dividends for them in
the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Sorry, Joshua Reynolds.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Won't be back this week for the Broncos to be
at least one more week before Broncos wide receiver josh
Reynolds to be ready to return to action. Renald was
designated four return from IR this week, butt the Broncos
ruling out for Sunday's game against the Falcons on Friday's
injury report. Reynolds went on injured reserve with a hand
injury and also had to recover from injuries he suffered
when he was shot twice on October eighteenth. Broncos also

(21:37):
ruled out linebacker Drew Sanders still with the achilles and
safety de Laron Turner Yell with a knee issue.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Both are on the pup list.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Safety Brandon Jones has an abdomen issue, who is the
only player on the active roster with an injury designation.
He is listed as questionable after a week of limited practices.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
Did we need Josh Reynolds for this game? And how
bad would it be if Brandon Jones'.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Business, Well, you need Brandon Jones for this game, it
would be a huge detriment to the defense based on
how Brandon Jones' is. You know, impact has been felt,
so immediately, Josh Rendos, I believe this is a game
based on the fact that the Falcons don't have a
great They're not great against the pass. I mean, you

(22:20):
can go without Reynolds for this particular game that, given
one more week, can get healthy. But not having Brandon
Jones that would be a huge blow for the Broncos defense.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Yeah, absolutely, what and interestingly, I guess it puts it
more in the spotlight with a return of Justin Simmons.
If we have the Atlanta Falcons this week, not that
it particularly does, but it does in the in the
eyes of people who are looking at the man who
replaced him to be active for this game. We also
saw Devin keep struggle a little bit in the game.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
That he played.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
Maybe this would be a chance of redemption to him
if he does get the other.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Opportunity for Seattle.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Seahawks, center O'Connor Williams mispracticed this week for a personal
matter and has retired from the NFL to coach Mike
McDonald and ounced today saying quote, so'cnnor earlier this week
decided to retire personal reasons, and we respect that, wish
him the best, and we've got to move forward. It's
Mike McDonald. Via video from Bob Candata of the Seattle Times.
McDonald said he does not expect Williams to change his mind,

(23:12):
saying quote, I don't believe so well. Honor's wishes keep
all those reasons in conversations private for obvious reasons. Second
year player Olu olu Watimi will take over as the
starting center for the Seahawks. Williams is twenty seven side
with the Seahawks. Back on August sixth, he had a
significant knee injury that included a torn acl at a
December eleventh game last year, he played for the Dolphins

(23:33):
against the Titans. It appeared this all seasons Williams might
retire during the off season, that he decided to return
after working his way back. Williams moved from guard to
center after signing a two year deal with the Dolphins
in twenty twenty two, became a solid starting center. The
Cowboys made Williams a second round pick in twenty eighteen.
He played ninety two career games with eighty six starts.
What do we think about TONNERD Williams retiring in the

(23:54):
middle of the season.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Well, you never know what's going on, you know, with person.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
We always get this news and we get a chance
to sit back and debate roll what's going on with
that person. But for me, if you are anyone on
any level and you are experiencing something, you know, make
sure you grab a friend or loved one and talk
to them about it and just know that these are
not things that you have to deal with by yourself.

(24:20):
But obviously he must feel really strong about his conviction
as far as what's going on in his family. I
just wish him that the best and whatever's going on
with him, he's able to.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Rapidly resolve it.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Yeah, whatever decision he made for himself, you know, I
hope that that decision works out for him. I hope
he's happy with it, satisfied with it. I hope it
works out for him as well. Fie people wondering who's
going to be the Cowboys head coach next year, it
looks unlikely that it's going to be Mike McCarthy. Speculation
has run rampant, from Bill Belichick to lately a rumor about.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Deon Satters hole that up heears highly unlikely.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
Former Cowboys tight end Jason Whitten, who is currently a
high school football coach GM Jerry Jones, thanks Witt, and
can do.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
A lot better than that.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Appearing one five to three The Fan of Dallas on Friday,
Jones was asked whether he believes Witten could be an
NFL head coach, and he responded with yes, that's via
Jamatchoto of the Athletic without hesitation.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
Yes, he's something you can't draw up.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
He reminds me a lot of our other tight end
to his head coach up there in Detroit right now.
Inferring Dan Campbell Jason is very sophisticated when it comes
to understanding football and the nuances. But more important than anything,
he understands the physical and mentality of being physical and
that's a part of it.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
Without question, he could become an NFL coach. He has
extraordinary work ethic could be a top coach.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
Given a witness connection to the Cowboys and Jones belief
in him, it's impossible to rule written out as the
next potential head coach of the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
They will be looking for one, most likely in January.
Come on, Famna, We're not doing that. And listen.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
If Jerry truly believes that and he goes off the rail,
he does something like this, This would fit well with
his m all and would be one of the reasons
for the downfall of the Dallas Cowboys. Like everyone is
blaming Mike mccauser, like he is the problem.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
No he's not.

Speaker 3 (25:59):
He's not the only issue in Dallas. The issuem in
Dallas has to do with their owner in thinking these
things and not keeping them to himself, but saying the
quiet part. Wow, no, Jason win the next coach of
the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
Stop stop.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
I believe he could be on that staff if Bill
Belichick takes so maybe it's the tight ends coach, you know,
the staff, but not a head coach.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
Seems simple, man, really very far fetched to me, you know,
in high school football. Right. And the other part of this,
the Deon Sanders rumor.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
I don't believe that scene anyway, especially now that that
Dak has signed the long term deal. Why would Dion
go to the Pros to not coach his son. They're
not gonna you can't that Dak Prescott. His contracts unmovingmovable.
You're not gonna be able to coach the door.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
He's not coming to Dallas, even though I don't believe
that it's gonna be a move by Deon Sanders and
stay in Boulder.

Speaker 2 (26:46):
But Deon makes a lot more sense than Jason Witton. Yeah, fair,
at least it really do. At least he has head
coaching experience. Deon does no coach experience. Soon he got
interviewed for the Texans job a.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
Couple of years ago, right, Yeah, the whole Yeah, Jerry
loves the circus, and I think he loves the attention
of saying outlandish things like that and seeing the Dallas
Cowboys name up there in Lights. But I cannot, for
the life of me figure out any way that you
would hire Jason Whitten to be your next head coach
after moving on and moving on from Mike McCarthy, especially,
like I said, with Bill Belichick sitting right there, and

(27:23):
we know how Jerry loves the circus.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
Sick sick at Dallas. Their opponent this week, the Houston Texans.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
So I thought the Broncos not scored the second half
of football games was bad. Houston Texans haven't scored a
second half touchdown at four straight games. At least I
get Nico Collins back this week. The Texans were out
scored nineteen to nothing in the second half of Sunday's
twenty six twenty three loss to the Alliance and continued
a long standing trend here in Houston, which has failed
to score a touchdown on the second half.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
He used to the last four games.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowey says it's not tired to
press the panic button.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
Slowik acknowledged the.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
Texans offense has been unable to get anything going in
the second half. He said the game doesn't change after
half time, and he doesn't believe that his team needs
to make any drastic changes coach in the second half
were probably the last five weeks should alway struggle. I
think we haven't scored a touchdown on like nineteen straight
second half possessions.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
That our approach is football's football.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
What I mean when I say that is we dissect
that we've known about three four, five weeks now and
you really dive in.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
What's going on to.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Something, go to play calling, or they're doing something different,
were doing something different. What's happening to the same in
the first half. We're not operating or executing the same though.
Texans obviously go to Dallas to play the Cowboys on
Monday Night football, and the.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Cowboys have been blown out at home week after week.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
If Texans can't manage to score in the second half
of Dallas.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
Then it might be time to panic.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
What do we think about Houston not scoring in the
second half of four straight football games.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
I know Bobby's slowly saying that he's not hitting the
panic button, but his head is hovering quite close to
the panic button, because when you look at the Houston Texas,
they were really explosive last year.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
They were the talk of the NFL.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
So much so that button Floyd received early praise in
a couples of coaching interviews.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
So you asked meself, well, what what's happened between last
year and now?

Speaker 3 (29:05):
I don't think it's just a fact of you know,
a sophomore slough for CJ.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Strout. I think it's more or.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Less teams are just trying to, you know, figure things out,
and they're doing a great job of execuity against the
Texans offense, whose offensive line has struggled my releases license.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
I think people got tape on Bobby Slowan's offense and
he got to adjust it because you look at what
they do, and they like to slide a four and
one right, They put tunsle, they slide the four to
the right and they leave a one on one on
the back side. And what teams are doing because they're
showing an overload on that slide protection and then they're
they're backing them off well while coming after the one
on one, you're getting on the left side with with
with tunsl and it's been highly effective as as a

(29:42):
maneuver this season. Slow It's gonna have to counter that
or find ways to count of that or not have
that tendency going forward. But you know, you got to
figure that the Texans getting Eco Collins back and you're
up against our former colleague Brandic Cristals Dallas Cowboys this weekend.
You got to figure that the Houston Texans are in
in for u I don't want to say an easy win,
but in for a get right game.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
This is definitely to get right game and it fell
perfectly in the schedule for a Texans team that still
trying to.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
Figure out well where to go.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
From here now with the saving grace for Bobby smugg
into Texans is that they have Joe Mixon, which which
was a huge pickup for them this offseason.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
So lean heavily on the run game, try.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
To fix things on the passing game, and it helps
having one of your most reliable receivers come back and
Nico Collins, that should help open up the playing game.
But now it goes back to just the basic things,
and it's just simply doing your assignment, doing your job,
being effected, being efficient, and that's something that the Texans

(30:47):
haven't really done well all season. And yeah, they got
some guys banged up, but let's be totally honest, then,
even when the Texans were healthy, they were not just
kind of like a Bible rocket on fire offensively, So
they got to figure out what's going on with them.
And you know, maybe teams have just figured out what

(31:07):
Bobby slog is trying to do for offensively, and if
that's the case, he needs to dig into creates and
go back to the San Francisco forty.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
That his offense.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
Yeah, because there's a lot of people that say, what
Bobby's running is Kyle light, you know, in terms of
what it is that he does on offense. But they've
got to figure out those protections up front. I think
that's where it starts.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
Again.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
If it's a noticeable trend in your protection front and
I'm noticing it, then I know NFL defensive coordinators are
noticing it.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
And I've seen it. I've seen how they've reacted to that.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Like I said, they're feigning the overload on the slide
side and then dropping them back while while bull rushing
or bullying two or three down on Laramy Tunsul and
it's working, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
And when you can't establish anything from a passing standpoint,
it makes you one dimensional.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
And when I think about the.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
Basic principle of the offense, that Bobby slog is running,
that Kyle runs now, and it's a stable of Mike
Shanahan's offense. You're using the run game to open up
opportunities in the passing game. But when those opportunities open up,
either wide receivers are not running full speed in their

(32:15):
routes or they're not catching the ball. So it's proving
to be problematic for the Houston Texas. But you know what,
once again, all of that is just water on the bridge.
You got the Dallas Cowboys right now are struggling, beatable,
very very beatable. And for the Battle of Texas, I

(32:35):
don't even know if they do a little rivalry like
you know, like because football they have like you're playing for.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
The acts for the Star.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
I don't know if they're playing for Maybe it's a barbecue,
could be, I don't know, whatever it is, the Texas
should win.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Yeah, I'm with you on that as well.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Last thoughts on Broncos taking on the Falcons again. You've
got a high flying, high oct eight offense. But I
think this is a winnable game for Denver, especially here
at home.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
Big game for the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
This is the game that I want to see the
Broncos minimum on the minimum side of things, man, twenty.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
One points minimum? What do you got? What do you say?

Speaker 1 (33:15):
I think that I'd like to see Denver get to
twenty four. I'd like to see them get above point
and get to twenty four points. I don't care what
they do to the Falcons as long as they, you know,
hold them under twenty and I'd like to see Broncos
get to twenty four plus. I'd like to see them
tune them up a little bit. I'd like to see
them get more points than they are against teams like
you know, Carolina, So you know, I'd like to see
them get to that twenty four plus mark because that

(33:36):
really is the high water, that's the water mark in
the NFL. You get twenty four plus, you probably win
in the game. The over Grant would like to see more. Yes,
My question is what's Grant gonna do when the Broncos
take on the Bengals later this year?

Speaker 2 (33:49):
Hoy yeah, no Trader, Yes, wet blanket, Grant.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Over there, Skylar Jilly, Broncos Country nightros On Tempitus BDAZZU.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
