of the week there, mister Grant Smith haven't had a
chance to go around the horn and.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Talk about some of these games that happened. This week.
Started off with h Washington against those Philadelphia Equals.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Second down, three from a thirty nine pitcher Parkley Chicken.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Big move, cut the middle to the thirty to the twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
He's gone, gone, gone, Parkway tucks there with Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Good night.
Speaker 5 (01:12):
That call courtesy of Iron Eagle with west Wood One.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yeah, that was the That was a Thursday night game.
I do believe and h Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Got the better of Washington and that one pretty handily,
jayde and Daniels not exactly at the level that I
think a lot of people have gon accustomed to seeing
so far.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
We'll see if he gets the hits, the rookie wall,
or if he's able to keep this thing interesting. Maybe
a horse race. No froncos puns intended with bow knicks
down the stretch we've got.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
I'm trying to hype this one up in as many
ways as I can. Let's just it was a beatdown.
It's it's the Lions and Jackson. It was so bad
we don't have any sound. We've literally censored it. Golf
takes the direct snap bakes the gifts that's in the
pocket steps up.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Looks gross. He just completely chamber right side.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
He's got go to the end zone.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Fifteen ten five end zone touchdown Detroit Lions Jamo flies
into the end zone of the Lions extend their lead.
Speaker 5 (02:10):
That call courtesy of Dan Miller with WXYT.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Fifty two to sixth final as the Lions put it
to the Jags and a game that many people suspected
Doug Peterson was going to get fired off of Doug
will get fired. He's already fired. The question is they
just going to pay him to not show up for
work or not, And at this point that's that's not
the case. So they did not leave him on the
tarmac there in Detroit. They brought him back and his
(02:36):
punishment is that he has to continue to coach the
Jacksonville Jaguars game. There was a lot closer than a
lot of people thought aut ittle up there in the
NFC North Remade.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Packers taking on the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Their new offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, got Caleb Williams going
in this.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Game three seconds ago.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
They'll place it down with a let tash mark forty
six yard field goal Temph tyrol Antos for the game.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Here's the snap placement made. The kick is blah blah,
is blown, hit is block.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
There's the Packers have.
Speaker 6 (03:09):
One beautiful It is blahful that comes up front, head up.
Packers have one eleven straight over the Bears twenty to nineteen.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
Oh my goodness, what a finish.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
Wow, those calls are a lot better when it's not
happening to your team. That Wayne la Revie with WNRW well, I.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Funny you should mention that because there was a Bears
tweeter Bears takes on Twitter who after the Broncos Chiefs
game posted the highlight and said, if this ever happens
to me and my Bears, I'm leaving Twitter. And then
it happened to the Bears the next week and he
was summarily called to the car, but he had not
left Twitter last night.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Checked. We will see if he eventually does. It's done
for Caleb Williams because he done a.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Good job of keeping pace with the Packers and bringing
back on a drive that should have had the opportunity
to win it for him and another rookie quarterback gets
an l on the on the sheet that should have
been a win.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Caleb played much much better in that game. Well, le
Broncos taking on the Raiders this week and.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
The Raiders, well, they were in the stadium for that
game against the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
They're back to throw to the pressure.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
That's opt out field and is player one open? Smith
at the thirty at the twentiets down that call courtesy
of Jimmy Safalo, WBGG and w I and Z.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah, this one was thirty four to nineteen Miami.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
You saw a little bit of Gardner in there, showing
that he could do a few things here or there.
But the Raiders don't have any defense. They barely have
an offense. And if the Broncos lose this game, it
will be probably their most embarrassing was certainly the most
embrassing loss this year. If you were to lose to
the Raiders. I can't see a scenario in which this happens.
Miami clearly the better team in that scenario. And now
(04:53):
they got to of back there. They're sort of hitting
on all cylinders. I bet they play a little bit
of a spoiler and we'll see if they can sneak
their way back into the playoff conversation. They pretty much
have to win out as far as it goes for
the rest of these year. Rams taken on the Patriots
and Drake May's looked all right so far.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Let's come out and Stafford it bottled up.
Speaker 6 (05:12):
He's residental talk by Cooper Cup got to fifty break the.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
Tackle, beat Coaston touchdown.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
Cooper Cup touchdown away sixty nine yards, his.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
Second nice dB long kspn.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yeah a Rams had two receivers go over one hundred
yards poking a cool head seven catches one hundred and
twenty three Cooper six catches a Buco six Cup, two
touchdowns Nicol one Colby Parkinson chipped in one of his own.
Drake May thirty forty eight two yards, two touchdowns at
a pick, but not enough to get it done against
the Rams. And but I will say Drake May has
certainly looked a lot better over the last.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Few weeks as things move along, Browns.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Versus Saints, talking about two teams that have looked a little.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Bit better, and it was all Taysom Hill second and seven.
Chase him again. This time we get to the outside.
Twenty five thirty Taysom on.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
To speet, forty Taysoum's gonna go down the sideline forty
thirty Taysom twenty ten one a day, see a little bite.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
I love that call for my cost WWL. Taysom Hill
doing Taysom Hill things once again pay Jonathan was.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
He had eight catches for fifty yards in that game,
seven rushes for one hundred and thirty eight yards and
three touchdowns, and he threw the ball twice, getting intercepted
once and completing the.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Other for an eighteen yard completion.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
On the other side of that, Jamis Winston thirty completions
in forty six attempts, three hundred and ninety five yards,
passing two touchdowns, no interceptions, but not nearly enough to
get it done against the Saint Jerry Judy, probably his
best day as a professional, has six catches for one
hundred and forty two yards and a touchdown for the
Browns and started to come alive a little bit.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
That Brown's offense started to come alive a little bit.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
They only managed, though, to come away with fourteen points
despite you know, Jamis having a heck of a day
throw in the football.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
The Saints, however.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Twenty one or twenty seven for Derek Carr two or
forty eight yards, two touchdowns, no picks, and then Taysom
Hill just to monstradate doing everything, whether it was catching
the ball, running the ball, throwing the ball, whatever. Also
Markzvald's scaling two more catches eighty seven yards, another touchdown.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
He just continues to produce for the Saints.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
The Riz factor is real in New Orleans.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Well looks like it's so far. Ravens taken on the Steelers.
Russ was cooking. Snap is good, hold is good, the
kick is up and that kick is through by Chris Boswell.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Another field goals, second time this year.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Boswell has kicked six field goals in the game.
Speaker 5 (07:37):
Russ cooking, but Boswell getting them to w as you
heard for the second time this year with six field
goals in a game, and that call courtesy of Rob
King WDVE.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
So that's right.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Russ twenty three to thirty six, two or five yards,
no touchdowns at a pick. They also rushed four times
for a singular yard. George Pickens eight catches eighty nine yards,
but the Ravens offense couldn't get going. You had Lamar
Jackson sixteen to thirty three to two o seven a
touchdown of the pick. Derek Henry thirteen carries only sixty
five yards, thirty one of which came on one singular carry.
(08:10):
He also lost a fubble right there out of the gate.
That sort of set the tone for the game and
allowed the Pittsburgh Steelers to win that one with a
myriad of field goals.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Vikings taking on the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
At which Sam Darnold are we going to get in
this one?
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Donald back to pass, Henessey grows five.
Speaker 7 (08:29):
Tennison over the metal twenty five to twenty Preside ten
to five.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Touch Sureton Hennison to forty seven yard sike.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
Well, the answer to your question the good version of
Sam Darnold against the Tennessee Titans. But who doesn't look
good against the Titans. That's Paul Allen with kfam.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Donald twenty thirty two two forty six, two touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
A real difference in this game was the running game,
in the fact that Tennessee could not run the football.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Their leading rusher was.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Will Levis the quarterback seven carries for eighteen yards, Tony
Pollard nine carries for fifteen Tyjak Spear's.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Three carries for no yards. They were absolutely.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Ineffective on the ground and that led to struggles in
the past game. Will leve a seventeen to thirty one,
two ninety five, a touchdown and a pick righty four
point seven rating in that one. The Colts take it
on the Jets, and we talked about people getting fired.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
There were people fired after this one.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Richardson takes it Jets, sweet takes it off left side,
He's at the.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Five, and he crashes into the end zone. Touchdown. Anthony
Richardson touchdown.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
I ind why it's amazing to me how good Anthony
Richardson can look in the same game while looking so
bad in that same game as well. That call courtesy
of Matt Taylor with WFNI.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Anthony Richardson has the lowest completion percentage of anyone in
the NFL. In fact, it's the lowest completion percentage of
any quarterback that's throwing more than one hundred and fifty
passes in his season since Tim.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Tebow was quarterbacking for the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Buddy, he does have the highest yards per completion, and
he does find ways to run the football as well.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Got two touchdowns on the ground, one in the air.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Aaron Rodgers continues to look in at fact, through twenty
two twenty nine, only one hundred eighty four yards two touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
There.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
The run game was working with Breesel averaging four nine
A Carrie and he got a touchdown, but they got
to shy it away from it.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Didn't really get much to Braylen Allen's.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Devonte Adams said six catches for seventy two yards on
seven targets, but no touchdowns there as well. Seahawks taking
on the Niners, and we had a scunner at the
end on this one.
Speaker 7 (10:26):
Gino gets them back to the line of scrimmage twenty
two twenty one, gets the Sam looks steps up, gonna
run ten time, Gito touchdown Jayhawks.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Holy Catfish, Holy Catfish is right man, Gino Smith.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
I'm this huge Gino Smith fan making the most of
a second opportunity up there with the Seahawks. That Steve
Rabel with k I ro the only game I got
wrong this weekend, the only one, only one good for
you see Adams Sam So I didn't see that one
coming either.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
I had the Niners in that one, and they had
the game.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Up until about twelve seconds left when Sit and Gito
ran it in there. Smith finished twenty five with thirty
two two twenty one and on one interception, no touchdowns
in the air, four carries twenty nine yards of a
touchdown on the ground. Rock Party twenty one and twenty
eight one to fifty nine, a touchdown and the pick.
Christian McCaffrey nineteen carries seventy nine yards, four catches twenty
seven yards, no touchdowns for him either of Rock Party
(11:24):
ran one in for San Francisco. I guess it was
quarterback rushing touchdown days in that one.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
How do you think that NFC West is gonna shake out?
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Arizona's sitting the top right now? I know, boy John Gannon, and.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
Then everyone else is five and five.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
I came back. It's the game back.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
I like Arizona's chances too, Chiefs taking on the bills,
and von Miller tweeted the Broncos country, don't worry, fam
I got you. It's a fourth and two dissimblate motion
fakes the throw, Alan.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Gonna step up in the pocket.
Speaker 5 (11:54):
Now he's gonna take it run and he's got the.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
First down in the more ten five bed buscles.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
Is he into the end zone for an unbelievable twenty
six yard touchdown run?
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (12:10):
And when you see the replay of that that call, man,
it was an incredible touchdown run. Von Miller may have
said that he did it for the Broncos, but it
was really Josh Allen taking control of that game. That
call courtesy of Chris Brown from WG.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Yeah, that rush was with two twenty seven left in
the game. Put Buffalo up two scores at thirty twenty one,
which would be the final. Buffalo had been winning twenty
three to twenty one. Driving with the football after Mahomes
passed to Noah Gray was seven to fifty nine left
in the one to get that one touchdown there. This
game was largely Travis Kelcey silent. Two catches for eight
(12:43):
yards in that when Xavier Worthy was the only one
could do any damage. Four catches sixty one yards and
a touchdown no A Gray at two touchdowns Actually in
that game, Mahomes twenty three or thirty three for a
palulsry one ninety six three touchdowns but two interceptions. In
that game, Josh Allen twenty seven to forty two, sixty
two in the air, touchdown at a take twelve.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
Rushes for fifty five on the ground. Khalil Shakir was
the recipient of most of those passes. Eight catches for
seventy yards.
Speaker 5 (13:07):
What did you What did you think of the decision
to go for it on that fourth and two.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
I you know, I.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Don't let Kansas City hang around control your destiny at
that point.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
And you know, I think you look.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Back at that Tampa game and Tampa kind of laying up,
and you say, look, we got the ball. If we
can't get two yards, what are we doing here? And
I think that's I think it was a smart call,
And in the end it was born out by the results,
so I can't really question that too much. Grant's beloved
Bengals taking on the Chargers. Everybody in the iHeart League
was on the Bengals, but your boy kept the faith
(13:39):
with the Chargers formation.
Speaker 6 (13:41):
Here's the snap handoff Dobbins along the left hast twenty
five down to the twenty, to the fifteen, to the ten,
all the way diving in the ind zone touchdown Chargers
J K. Dobbins had the Chargers.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
And the lead almost skipped the Bengals. Chargers on the
recap of Week eleven because it's still so painful, ob
salty Ethan McPherson missing those kicks down the stretch. I
know we talked about it at nauseum yesterday, but man,
it's still hard for me to get over, but JK.
Dobbins having a resurgent year that called courtesy of Ryan
Radkey with west Wood one.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
The only reason the.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Bengals were even backed in this game is the Chargers
abandoned the ground game to start the second half, kept
trying to throw the ball and were just unsuccessful with it.
Herbert finished seventeen to thirty six. He had tw hundred
and nine seven yards, though two touchdowns, no picks. They
also ran five times for sixty five yards if he
did use a fumble.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
JK.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Dobbins eleven carries fifty six yards, two touchdowns, and they
didn't get the Gus bust going as much as they
should have. Six carries twenty seven yards a four and
a half average, but just didn't get that going.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Ladd McConaughey the difference for the Chargers in this one.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Six catches for a buck twenty three over on the
Bengals side, plenty of offense, all gas, no breaks. Burrow
twenty eight to fifty three hundred fifty six yards, three touchdowns,
Chase Brown twenty two carries eighty six yards. T Higgins
nine catches, one hundred and forty eight yards Chase seven catches,
seventy five yards, two touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
There was all gas, no breaks. So, like I said, yeah,
field goal kicker missing two field goals.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
And couldn't get anything going early against the Chargers and
brought it back to even, but then allowed JK.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Dobbins to get free on you.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Then we come last and finally to the Houston Texans
taken on the Dallas Cowboys, and it is official at
Cherry World the Houston Texans and Jake Paul have more
wins than the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 8 (15:23):
High formation, Stroud under center, snap spin, handoff Mixon times
and touchdown his third touchdown tonight.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
Yeah, complete domination from the Texans. Kind of what we
expected last night. That call courtesy of Kevin Harlan with
Westwood One.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Yeah, Cowboys, I mean it was for a minute.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
There they were in the first half, try to do
some creative stuff and keep up for it, but they
didn't convert on the fake pot they got, they got
the look they wanted, they got the catch they wanted,
they didn't convert to a first down, and they just
couldn't get it going from there. And the Houston Texans
meanwhile started to get everything going that they need to.
They just got knee Go Collins back and he had
four catches for fifty four yards. Take Dell had the
(16:04):
exact same stat line, four catches fifty four yards, Joe
Mixing twenty rushes for one hundred and nine on the
ground and three touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Oh by the way, two catches for forty four through
the air as well. C J.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Stroud finished twenty three or thirty four two to fifty
seven in an interception. Hooper rushed thirty two of fifty
five three hundred and fifty four yards a touchdown at
a pick. Rico Donald ten carries twenty eight yards, leading
rusher for Dallas, and that's part of the reason and
is Dallas just cannot get the ground game going with
any sort of efficacy. Ceedee Lamb had one carry for
thirteen yards and that was the biggest play they had
on the ground. Through the air, Camante Turpin had a
(16:37):
sixty four yard touchdowns the only touchdown Dallas guy.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Then they kind of forgot to use him after that.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
You know, he's your best player, your best weapon, your
most explosive threat, and you just were like, man, I
think we're gonna avoid.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Doing that for now. I don't know. That's probably the
reason Dallas is losing.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Could be we'll see Broncos country that rolled on after this, guys,
The Heroes Thank You is back. It's presented by Common
Spirit Health, Triple eight Heating and Eric Conditioning, and a
Credit Union nominated Colorado family of a veteran event or

you know somebody who could use that twenty five hundred dollars,

Speaker 8 (17:48):

Speaker 1 (17:49):

Apple I to Spotify totally free it awesome my heart
radio app where you can at the Taking for Granted podcast.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
No mustache tips in that one.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
I found that deceptive, but anyway, yes, the Taking for
Granted podcast as available there as well. We're gonna go
right out to the KA Commas Sparrel hotline and bring
on our guy, Ryan Michael at the Ryan Michael on Twitter?
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Ryan, how you doing this evening?
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Doing well?
Speaker 1 (18:17):
Then?
Speaker 8 (18:18):
How are you?
Speaker 2 (18:19):
I'm I'm doing okay.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
We're following up a four touchdown, no interception slaughter of
the Atlanta Falcons.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Hype for bo Nix's has never been higher.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
I remember you had him as the second highest ranked
quarterback on your board before the draft, and if you'd
like to take a victory lap, I'm certainly here for that.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
Football is not gonna spike itself. But you know, the
question is, are you a little bo curious about.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Bo being the franchise quarterback for the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 8 (18:47):
As much as I would love to spike that football
and pat myself on the back, the reality is I
have to approach this as an analyst, which means I
have to do so objectively, and there's a difference between
what I want to be what may be true in
what may eventually be true. So certainly it's trending far
closer to a yes than a no. It's been an impressive,
(19:09):
really nine game run after two rough games to start
off the season. You know, you should be afc with
you of the week back to back weeks after being
you know, offensive months in October. She's been tearing up
the stat sheets that in that nine game run late
a one hundred and eighty eight two hundred and eighty
so that sixty seven percent of his passes over two
(19:29):
thousand total yards, eighteen total touchdowns to only one turnover,
no loss fumbles all year. So yeah, Bo Nix is
as hot as I said during the offseason, perhaps even
more so. I still think we have to pump the
brakes a little bit, and we still need a little
bit of a bigger sample size perform ready as any
of the franchise quarterback.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Well, what you calling bo hot like you did, maybe
you are a little bow curious there. I don't know,
give it all the positives and particularly both dominance over
the last two weeks.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Do you think he's entered the NFL offense you boy.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Of the Year discussion there with Jaden and Daniels, I.
Speaker 8 (20:04):
Think you've entered the discussion, and you know, certainly eleven
games into the season, I would still say that Jayden
Daniels is the clear favorite statistically by almost every measure,
whether we're talking completion percentage, passing, yard yards per drop back,
yards per attempt, touchdown passes he has fewer, right, but
he's still a low interception percentage like Bow, higher passer
(20:24):
I think by nearly ten points, and a little bit
more efficient per carry on the ground. They both have
four lesson touchdowns. It's really those two games at the
beginning of the year then that I think is going
to hold go Nicks out of eventually winning the award.
I do believe it's conceivable that by the end of
the year, even if Daniels is named NFL Offensive with
(20:45):
you of the year, and it would be deservedly so.
So I think it's possible that you could make an
argument for Bo having had the more impressive season, and
that's really all we can talk about eleven games in.
I think given the disparity between the two planes situations,
and given just how well he's been playing over the
last nine and just how high it feeling has been,
(21:06):
especially over the last two weeks, I like the way
Bo's playing more than the way that Jade and Daniels
is playing in terms of altogether big picture. Is he
going to end up winning the award? It's certainly a
discussion now, especially after last week, but Jadan Daniels is
still still ahead of him by a few inches.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Talking to Ryan Michael at the Ryan Michael on Twitter, right,
as much as all of us want instant gratification, and
certainly the Broncos are extra thirsty for quarterback gratification, they
post Peyton Manning era. Would you rather have a young
quarterback dominate as a rookie similar to st j Stroud
did his first year, although he's taking kind of a
step back this year, or as a sophomore like Peyton
(21:45):
Manning who started off poorly but then dominated.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
From basically your two on, it's.
Speaker 8 (21:49):
A good question, and I think the way you framed
it pretty much answers it for me. I would rather
have given a choice see Dominance in the Quarterback sophomorees
because as we saw the CJ. Stroud and I cautioned
people who were very optimistic about him last year statistically,
whether we're talking analytics, marts, raw numbers, general efficiency, he
(22:12):
was a top three NFL quarterback as a rookie. He
produced arguably the greatest rookie passing season we've ever seen,
if you adjusted for era. There are a number of
other quarterbacks that enter the discussion. I think that something
that people don't necessarily account for is just how much
of an impact it has when defensive coaches have more
(22:32):
all twenty two films to study. So we've seen CJ.
Stroud certainly take a step back from being a top
three overall NFL quarterback, and he's about average, below average
by some metrics, slightly above average by others. So I
would rather see what we saw out of Peyton Manning
the second year. I can speak from my own experience,
(22:53):
having coached in Europe, having coached in the IFL. It's
not the exact same level, certainly, but it was always
been a tremendous disadvantage for me as a defensive assistant
to not have coaches film to study on a quarterback
who's coming up that week. So it's certainly at the
NFL level, I think it's even more important. I'm very
happy to see Bonnet's playing so well so early, but
(23:15):
as we've seen with CJ. Stroud, we have to pump
the brakes a little bit because he does have the
advantage of the coaches don't have a lot of all
twenty two film to study.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Just said, well, yeah, I think that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
I mean, we've seen, you know, as coaches get an
off season and all that tape a year's where the
tape and an off season of prep for a guide,
it suddenly they've got to adjust and counter judge. We
look forward to seeing what Bo does as far as
that stuff goes. What are your projections for BO and
the offense in the coming weeks and really the rest
of this season.
Speaker 8 (23:43):
Well, I'm certainly optimistic about the upcoming schedule. Right games
against the Raiders and against Cleveland are very very winnable.
The Colts game is a very very winnable game. The
Chargers in Chiefs down the stretch are going to be
very difficult. And even though the Bengals don't have a
strong win loss record, obviously Jill Burrough's playing the position
at an elite level. So that game against Cincinnati is
(24:03):
going to be a tremendous challenge. If we can win
nine games, fan, I would consider that an overachievement, and
certainly believe the over under was five and a half,
so we've already surpassed that. But you can't take any
wins for granted. You know, the schedule looks favorable over
the next three games, but we forgot to put in
the work.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Talking with Ryan Michael at the Ryan Michael on Twitter, Ryan,
you know I talked a little bit earlier and I
tweeted out I saw you've since dovetailed off that with
some numbers about this growing sentiment on social media from
forty nine Ers fans as they try to talk themselves
out of Kyle Sheanahan.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Okay, you know the entire league.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Is trying to try to adopt his office, say what
coaches off his staff, and you've got these spoiled forty nine.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Ers fans out here, like, you know what, the grass
is greener.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
I forget the Jim thomsull a, Chip Kelly Era, forget
by Mike Singletary, the Mike Nolan Arris, you know, forget
all that the grass is greener. We can get somebody
better than the guy. The entire league was right now
by firing him.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
As I look.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
At the the the ludicrous nature of this forty nine
Ers fans trying to talk themselves out of Kyle Shanahan
by claiming, you can't win the big One.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Where do we come down on that?
Speaker 1 (25:18):
And where do we come down on how ridiculous it
would be for the Niners to fire Kyle Shanahan right now.
Speaker 8 (25:25):
It's one of the most mind numbing football takes that
I've seen all people. It might be the absolute worse.
And lord knows, there are a lot of bad ones
out there, you know, Kyle Shanahan is somebody who is
you know, two fourth quarter slash overtime performances away. Had
those games gone the other way in San Francisco, and
certainly if things went different for Atlanta in twenty sixteen,
(25:45):
we'd be talking about him as a future Hall of Famer,
So people have to remember he inherited a two win
forty nine er team. He led them to win totals
of thirteen, thirteen, twelve, and ten. He got Hall of
same caliber efficiency out of Jimmy Garoppolo, and Jimmy Garoppolo
is a fine quarterback, but there were stretches of time
where he was producing efficiency marks that were comparable to
(26:07):
Patrick Mahomes and Drew Brees and Brock Pirty enters the
conversation right seventh round quarterback. He led the NFL in
passer rating. Last year, he led the NFL and adjusted
the net yards for attend by a country mile nine
point zero one. Second place was seven point four to eight.
Believe it was Tua and he set the NFL's all
time single season record for yards for passing attempt at
(26:29):
nine point six, a record that was previously held. Depending
on the threshold in terms of number attempts Matt Ryan
also under Kyle shanne hand in twenty and sixteen, I
believe Matt averaged nine point three yards for passing attempts,
and yet the Niners are five and five, they have
the top eight offense and average defense. Statistically, it is really,
(26:49):
what have you done from the lately kind of world
if we're talking about firing Kyle Shanagan. Unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
Yeah, it just seems ludicrous to me.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Arizona Cardinals in the top that division right now, but
all the other teams are five and five, one game back.
It's not like they're uh, they're really out of it
as far as any of that goes. And in the NFC,
I mean, you're not really out of it at five
hundred anyway. It's it's it's clearly the weaker conference. So
I just found that whole narrative a bit, uh, you know,
a bit frustrating and laughable as you have a fan
base who is so spoiled that you would sit there,
(27:18):
you know what, Kyle Shanahan actually sucks.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
We should go out there and you know, we should
go out there and get the next Nate Hackett.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
It's uh, you know, it's it's it's it's it's it's
a ludicrous to see what what people will talk themselves into. Uh,
you talked a little bit instant gratification earlier, So it's
ludicrous what people talk themselves into.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Talking with Ryan Michael, let the Ryan Michael on Twitter
looking over at the Jacksonville Jaguars. You know they've had
to start mac Jones lately because the injury to Trevor,
to Trevor Lawrence, and uh, presumably the coaching staff. They're
about to be fired, front office probably getting cleaned out
as well. Off the top of your head and maybe
putting you on the spot a little bit here, But
what what coaching staff? What coach would you would you
(27:55):
pair with Trevor Lawrence to try to get the most
out of him going forward?
Speaker 8 (28:00):
That's a really, really difficult question because you have to
ask yourself who would want to take over that position
in do vall. They've been the losingest franchise in the
NFL since twenty eleven. They've had I believe eight different
head coaches if you include the interim head coaches. So
Ben Johnson is obviously the name that people have been
talking about, and I think that would be a great fit.
(28:23):
Trevor Warren's is the guy that you know, how high
I am on Trevor Lawrence some numbers for him despite
playing in arguably the worst situation in terms of franchise, personnel, coaching.
The combination of all those things before he was shut
down due to injury, and we'll see if he comes back.
Still ranked top ten in total TVR adjusted EPA for play,
touchdown passes, passing yards, first downs passing Trevor Lawrence. You
(28:46):
could make the argument he's had the most impressive single
season of his career, which I know people will laugh at.
It'll be very dismissive of that. But when you consider
the defense ranked dead lasting yards per play at the
time they shut him down, dead last and sacerrating, surrendered.
To still show up and keep the Jags competitive in
a lot of those games, I think it's the testament
(29:06):
to who he is as a quarterback, especially when healthy.
So Ben Johnson is the name that I'm sure they're
going to be targeting. I don't think there's any easy
fix because Doug Peterson did a lot of good things,
especially in his first two years. You look at two
nine win seasons in Jacksonville, and obviously this year has
been a disaster, but there's two nine win seasons, especially
twenty twenty two he had the one quarter away from
(29:28):
the AFT Championship. So it's a tough place down there
and do wall I hope they figure it out.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
It's interesting because the career of Doug Peterson is fascinating
to me. Instant success followed by it falling apart, you know,
over the next couple of years.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
It was the same thing in Philadelphia, where you.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Know, he sort of inherited everything that Andy Reid did
and then you know, got him a Super Bowl and
then everything just sort of fell apart from there, leading
to his ouster and then you know, Jacksonville, early on,
the wins came pretty quickly, you know, and it looked
like he might be building something there, and then the
wheels just came off, and I wonder if I wonder
what that's attributed to. You know, he gets you know,
(30:04):
he gets players to rally around him early and then
it just wears off.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Is there something that that he's not changing that everybody's
keying in on.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
I don't know what it is, but it appears that
Doug Peterson in his second stint has largely mirrored the
first and without the top end success.
Speaker 8 (30:17):
I can tell you the play calling hast been an
absolute mess in Jacksonville this season. It's one of many problems.
But you know, to your point earlier about Kyle Shanahan,
could you imagine if the San Francisco forty nine ers
let him go after they finished six ten in twenty twenty.
You know, he comes back with three consecutive double digit
win seasons, so they still have a shot at doing
(30:38):
that this year. Maybe they'll finish with the eight or
nine wins. This what have you done for the lately?
Speaker 4 (30:43):
Culture?
Speaker 8 (30:43):
I think is a problem, and the Jaguars have a
lot more problem. So by no means am I suggesting
that Doug Peterson is Kyle Shanahan. I think Kyle Shanahan's
one of the finest coaches of our generation. But it's
a collaborative team effort, and the fact that they never
sigured out the defensive side of the ball certainly hasn't
held the situation because when you have what we have
here in Broncos Country, a top five, top three defense,
(31:05):
it really covers up a lot of imperfections on the
offensive side of the ball. I mean, right now, we're
I believe, the twentieth ranks scoring offense in the NFL,
and we're on the heels of our most impressive offensive
performance of the season by far. So hats off to
Sean Payton. Gif Sean Payton loves this week for sure,
but the defense has been the core of our success
this year, for the reason why we're over five hundred.
(31:27):
And if you don't have that luxury on the other
side of the football, it's very, very difficult to keep
morale up in the locker room.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
That is talking about Ryan Michael at the Ryan Michael
lest a couple of questions here, Ryan, as we hit
it back to the Denver Broncos. You just got through
talking about that defense, and what we've seen is that
the defense for the Broncos has played lights out and
it's not getting its flowers for that game against Atlanta
because the offense put up so many points, but they
held the Atlanta Falcons to six points. I think that
if you'd asked before the game if Denver was more
(31:55):
likely to score thirty four or hold Atlanta to six,
I think most people would have said Broncos were more
likely to score thirty four. It was surprisingly effective against
an offense it's loaded with skill position weapons. But I
guess the question that I'm sort of circling the drain
on here is what is the bigger boone to bow
Nicks having a defense like that at his back, where
the pressures not on him, or having an offensive line
(32:17):
that appears to be graded out as the top offensive
line in football right now to keep him clean.
Speaker 8 (32:21):
Yeah, thankfully he doesn't have to choose because he has both, right,
And those are both testaments to just how successful we
were during the offseason. It's a quarterback's best friend is
to have protection up front and to have stability on
the defensive side of the football. I think back to
what Mark Sanchez did in the late two thousand and
nine ten in that run, and certainly Bonick I think
(32:44):
was a much better quarterback prospect than Sanchez ever was,
and already a better quarterback than Sanchez ever was. But
what a benefit it was to a young rookie quarterback
to step into a situation when the lead defense on
the other end of the football. So thankfully both has both.
And I know there are a lot of people who
are impatient complaining about the skill position players. Look in
(33:04):
salary top how we're not going to have everything. So
to have arguably the best offensive line the football, arguably
the best defense in football, and arguably the best rookie
quarterback in the NFL, tinkling in a good spot.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
I tend to agree with you.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
I'm looking forward to our Raiders week where we're probably
going to be coming away with another dub. We have
a lot of talk about next week. Ryan, always appreciate
you dropping by Bud. My pleasure absolutely, Ryan Michael at
the Ryan Michael on Twitter. We come back, Parker Gabriel
going to join us, so we're going to get into
the weeds a little bit on this Falcons thing. Look
forward to the stretch run here for the Denver Broncos.
(33:38):
