Speaker 1 (00:00):
Nailed it, didn't quite nail it. Uh, interesting stuff going,
interesting goings on in college football today. Several things going on. Uh,
see you, Bob's get a transfer. Kayden Salter another quarterback,
Salter who not this past season, but the season before
last was quite prolific at Liberty. Had been of a
(00:21):
regression of a regression this past year. Uh in Jamie
Chadwick second season there at Liberty, but transferring, and we'll
be competing for the quarterback job. Obviously we all know
about Juju who they signed the recruiting class. Wouldn't be
surprised to see Kaden Salter winning that job and Juju
being the UH red shirt for a year. I wouldn't
be surprised to see Juju win the job either. What
(00:43):
do we think about Caiden's Salter transferring? To see you?
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I like that idea because once again, if you coach
from you have to continue to move.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
The program forward, not backwards.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
So you have two unique quarterbacks coming in, uh, one
to bill for the future and one to step in
right now and try to duplicate what Shador was able
to do. And the Salter between this year and last year.
Obviously there was somewhat of a drop off in his play.
Like last year he played fourteen games this season only eleven,
(01:18):
and he lost one of or arguably one of.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
His best receivers, the CJ. Dames.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
So obviously that hurts any quarterback. But I look at
Salters and say, he's a dynamic player.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
He runs about a four or five.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
And when you look at the the RPO game, which
we should see more of it from Pat Sherman, you
have a guy who has a little more speed and
I say a little more burst than that of Shador Sanders.
So that should open up the offense a lot. But
I like this this move, and Salters is making a
right decision and deciding to bring us out into See You,
(01:54):
because now.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
What you're doing is you're bringing other players. And I'm
sure these guys.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Talk to one another, they look on their social media page,
and this is one way that you can recruit other
guys from other schools say look, we're going back to
see you to continue doing him building what they've done before.
And oh, by the way, we know the NIO money
will definitely be there. You have Travis already distributing the
(02:24):
money throughout fifteen of his teammates. But Also, I mean
Chador is on record for saying, look, he makes the leap,
he goes to the NFL, he's donating, donating money back.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
To the collective.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Right, So if you want to get paid and you
want to blow up like a man smoking out of
gas station said, hey see you bus, that's where you
need to be.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Yeah, you know, this is one that I'm interested sort
of to see how this shakes out. Because you've got
a highly touted high school recruit and then you've got
a former highly touted, you know, transfer product here, and
if you can keep both of them happy under you know,
in this day and age of the ultra transfer. And
by the way, the funniest picture was the one that
(03:04):
I posted the other day, which was a recruit with
a Georgia tattoo and a Penn State jersey sitting there
in his USC profile picture. Uh, in the in the
era of nil like, look, I mean, that's that's the era.
Now they tried with the portal era. That's that's the thing.
So I wonder if and I think you default to
wanting to keep the kid happy, because that's the future,
(03:26):
right Salter is the one and done either.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Way, Well, the whole idea is that are you about competing?
Speaker 1 (03:34):
That's what it is because at the.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
End of the day, because there's a lot of players
now who don't want to compete. They just wanted to
be given to them. And that's not how life is
in any coach willing to acquiesce to the said player
on the high school level, on a high on a
collegiate level, even in pot Water, you're not really helping
(03:57):
that player. You gotta let that player. No, Look, if
you want the job, go take it. No one's gonna
give it to you, right, And so that's the thing
I mean.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
But like, let's say Kayten Salter, who's got obviously plenty
of experience, Let's say he wins that job and Juji
is just not quite ready yet. How do you keep
him satiated and keep him happy to take over next year? Dude,
you're not ready yet.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
If you were ready to take over, you would have
taken the job. So you just go ahead, sit here,
you learn, and you watch, and then maybe there is
an opportunity at some point in the season where if
things don't go right with Salter, they can go to
you Jew. But you can't be upset because the guy
in front of you has beat you out. Just be
(04:41):
a better player, right, But if you can't be a
better player, we know how this works. Players get upset,
they call home, they talk to their friends on social media.
You're not getting a lot of playing time. They're not
appreciating you as much as someone else will. Always got
somebody in you.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
You're doing that and those guys generally in a lot
of case just are wanting to rep you with at
il of marketing deals and they'll move you on to
the next school so they can get new money off
that and they get their cut. They don't care about
your career, they don't care about building you up for
anything they're getting. In some cases, according to some of
these reports out there, twenty percent just to shop you
to win new school.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
And players need someone to really look out for him
because there are a lot of these players dealing with
NIO money that and maybe at some point we had
to get TJ.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Warre back on to talk about nios.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
But they get taken advantage of because the whole idea
is that, Okay, well, how much money can my son
or daughter make?
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Right?
Speaker 2 (05:41):
And maybe some of those projections are not real projections,
But when your family doesn't have a lot of money,
and someone says that, hey, well we can get him,
you know, half a million dollars just signed with us,
and you do. And sometimes that gets a lot of
those players in trouble because there's that come along with it.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
But I see looking at CEU at how well that
they have done it, that they're.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Making sure that those players are up to part on
what they need to do, you know, because it is
a three part of Now it is what you do
on the field, in the classroom, and how smart you
are with the ni own money.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
And yeah, now there's a financial literacy component to this,
yes as well. Pivoting gears here a little bit. This
past season at Vandy Diego, Pavia slight Alabama. Last season
was in New Mexico State. He beat Auburn and the
brash play making quarterback appears to have a new victim,
and that's the NC Double A. Today at Tennessee, judge
(06:41):
granted Pavia's request for a temporary injunction against the NC
Double A and its rules related to seasons of eligibility. Pavia,
who exhausted his eligibility after playing two years of junior
college and three years of d one challenge the NCAA's
policy that counts a junior college stint on a player's
eligibility clock. The NCAA athletes get five calendar years to
play four seasons. Junior college counts as a season of
(07:04):
play policy at the heart of the case in the court,
at least temporarily, his agreed with Pavia. Junior College, which
is not an NCAA institution, should not count against the
players n CUBLEA eligibility, So, according to the court's rule
in the NCAA cannot enforce its eligibility rules that would
normally prohibit Pavia from playing one more season of D
one football, so he is for now eligible to play
next season. The NCAA can still appeal the decision, but
(07:27):
their chances are slim based on track record alone the
preliminary ruling that is not only unlikely, but by the
time of trial ends, Pavia will be will have completed
the season next fall. Anyway, this ruling is kind of
a landmark moment. It not only paves the way for
all JUCO players to gain an additional year of eligibility,
but it may invite future legal challenges over the NCAA's
(07:49):
traditional eligibility policy for even non junior college athletes, the
five year to four rule as it were anyway, then
the thirty thousand foot view of this is that this
is yet another court ruling that cripples a long standing
NCAA policy. At the very least, the third major court
decision the last year to barrow the association from enforcing
a rule the others West Virginia Court made it possible
(08:12):
for athletes who are transferring a second time to play immediately.
Ruling in Tennessee Federal Court at the nc double a's
interim NIL policy mostly moot, permitting boosters and boosterle a
collectives to negotiate with athletes before they before they enroll,
and now seasons of eligibility is on the chopping block.
(08:33):
We're getting to the point where collegiate money and eligibility
is probably going to be a collectively bargained issue, like
we're getting close to NCAA football and n athletics college athletics,
because the NCUA as an institution appears to be crumbling,
getting to a collective bargaining point. How do you feel
(08:55):
about the fact that court upheld that the nc double
A is no longer allowed to rule that JUCO years
count against NCUBA eligibility.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
I like it because it dismisses some of the power
that the nc double A is used over its years.
And we've seen the nc double A have this do
as we say, not as we do type of policy.
So I would say that this is a win for
a lot of those athletes, because a lot of kids
(09:27):
follows different circumstances coming out of college, great wise, family issues, whatever.
So maybe they had the talent to play at Alabama,
but those outside issues forced them to settle for JUCO.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
And to say that those JUCO.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Years count towards your eligibility, I've always felt as though
that wasn't right. But I'm glad that this case were
possibly said a president, which will assist and help a
lot of these other guys to have an illustrious collegiate career.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Yeah. I mean, this is one of those things where
I'm like, I think it's a good thing. I think
I tend to agree with it. I hadn't really thought
about it before. It's not really something I'd ever really
sat there and thought about before. But you know, in
a lot of ways, yeah, the jew Goes are there
to help get academically ineligible kids, kids with financial hardships,
kids with whatever, or guys that you know that coaches, Oh,
(10:22):
that college has overlooked opportunities, right, but should using that
route limit and athletes eligibility in the collegiate stratosphere. And
I'm you know, I hadn't. It's something I hadn't really
thought about before.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
It's it really shouldn't been because once again, that player
is at a juke COO junior college. They're not in
a division you know, one school, FCS, FBS school, So
for me, the clot really shouldn't start.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
And so that that happened.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Now, I do know at some point they's just say, well,
you know, you can't be in the juco forever, right, right,
But they just need to be rules in place who
allow guys who may have fallen on hard times an
opportunity to live up their college dreams, whether that's playing
college football with the idea of playing on Sundays or
(11:21):
getting a degree to kind of help their families out.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
There are guys that could have had additional eligibility with
this that would have been interesting to sort of see
what they would have done. Specifically, guys like Cam Newton
who would have had additional you know, certainly had more
more additional eligibility to play at the collegiate level. There's
you know, some of those guys who went down to
Blynn or you know, there's all these other jucos and
things like that. So fascinating ruling for Diego Pavia And really,
(11:44):
I think the larger view here, the larger issue here
is that eventually it's going to be a union. It
has We're at the point where it almost has to be.
The wild West days of ANIL are at their peak
right now, and you're seeing the vultures, Like we talked
about these guys that are taking a twenty percent that
cut for NIL deals and stuff like that. That's absurd,
that's a that's abusing kids, right, I mean, it's it's
(12:06):
it's taking advantage for sure, twenty percent. What do you
keep that twenty percent cut? For dude? NFL agents don't
even get that much, don't you do three? You know,
I can see a five percent sort of deal, like
I can. I can justify that all the way with
It depends on what that person who is working. Yes,
what do you do? What are you bringing in? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Now, how are we going to say that there's a
certain percentage off of what you bring in as it
retains a different things.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Right, Yeah, because if it's a multifaceted you know you're
handling not because in NFL A is not handling their marketing,
he's handling their relationship with the teams, and then marketing
guy gets gets a higher number. So I can see
a five percent cut. I can sort of understand that
it depends on if you're you know, if that's part
of your layering on what you're doing, what do you
bring it to the table for your five percent?
Speaker 3 (12:49):
So what that means, That means you need ari from
uns Rash. I might start my own almost like that.
I might start my own because to me, it feels
like the ds don't.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Know what they're doing, and I, you know, I feel
like somebody with good intent to get in here.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
First of all, see you mentioned kids, money and good intent.
They only have two of the three. It's like trying
to mix baking milk. You just don't. Well, you can try,
but it's not suggest.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Yeah, I look, I mean I think because because I
think you need people that have the best intent, and
there are guys out there TG award that do have
that in mind, but there are guys that, uh that
don't we come back. We got the NFL six back
Broncos Country, and I can't win here where you guys
join us tomorrow post zero down there Mcgrid's square six
(13:42):
to eight, myself, Nick ferguson there. They got food and
drink specials. Down there, got autograph football to give away.
Lets you watch a game of us. Let me tell
you how fun that is. Me and Nick sitting there.
You're arguing real loud. It's less arguing in more of us.
Each of us try to get our own point in
real quick probably say the same thing.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
Well you might as well just say, you know, Ben
is real loud but real wrong.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
At the same time, I have what you talked about. Yes,
of course, one time I thought it was wrong, turned
out I was mistaken. So I'm looking forward to that
tomorrownight though. It'll be a lot of fun. Uh. And
we have what one more after that? We get the
Cincinnati game, which is only a Saturday. It would be
a Saturday, so we got that coming. We got that
coming up. But yeah, is our second last one, So
(14:26):
I let you know a chance to get out there
and say hi, to us. It is my post zero
tomorrow night six to ap on the Orange and Blue. Well,
it's not a brunch in this case. We'll call it
a dinner or whatever in my post zero. So come
on out with that times the NFL six pack. It's
time for the NFL six Pad. I'm gonna trade a
lot of beer, insight and insight information you can't find
(14:47):
anywhere else, I know, the top six NFL headline.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
What Braheem Morris has an announced final this week that
the Atlanta Falcons will be officially finching Kirk Cousins for
Michael Pennix after another ugly primetime display. What are your
expect expectations for the debut of the Michael Pennox era
in Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
That's a good question, man, not I mean not much.
Of course, they're playing the New York Giants, so you
get Drew Locke against Michael Pennix. That's gonna be uh,
that'll be fun, I guess, man, I don't know. Kirk. Somewhere,
Kirk Cousins is just wiping up those tears with the
stacks of money that he maked off the steal. They're
(15:35):
them benjamins. Here's what I expect from Michael Pennix.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
I am expecting to see a little what we saw
when he was in college at Washington. He's been there
with the Falcons for Olympy period of time. He gets
an opportunity to put his mark on the team with
three games, so I'm expecting, you know, more, from more
deliveries to cal Pitts and Drake London.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
Put it that and I'll add this as well.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Over a four game over five games, Kirk Cousins won
in four and he threw one touchdown and nine any exceptions.
With the bar said really low for Pinnicks. All you
need to do is throw two touchdowns in the next
two games and you do statistically what Kirk could not do,
and he's getting paid more money.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Padix is three of five for thirty eight yards and
a sack on the season. Two to Dacs Drifting, who's
playing but playing against the Broncos.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Then so yeah, Broncos in relief well with her Cousins
being benched in the Michael pennockx eras starting Cousins is
probably going to be played elsewhere in twenty twenty five
or will he?
Speaker 1 (16:40):
I guess up to you guys with that.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Are considering that question, where do you think Kirk Cousins
will be playing in twenty twenty five or fighty retire?
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Well, I think he'll be playing somewhere else if somebody
will be desperate for a chance, and one of these
teams is going to miss out on a quarterback in
the draft, and it probably won't be the Giants or Raiders,
So you know who who's that gonna be. I have
a surprise team that I'll I'll put out there in
a minute. Right now. The betting favorite is the Titans,
but I don't believe that will happen because you've got
you know, Brian Callahan up there. They're running, They're not
(17:11):
running the offense and he's used to running. They're running
the very the film in Varia they had a gasee
you know, offense, not the not the you know, that's
a traditional West Coast like he's run his whole career.
Everything he's running his career has been Shanahan or Gruden.
You know, its traditional West Coast.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
All you have to do if you want to answer
that question, look at what team has possibly a vacancy
at the quarterback position that runs a similar offense. I'm
glad that you mentioned like Mike Shenahan, because let's be
totally honest, that's the only offense that Kirk Cousins has
been in in his entire career. So everyone's wanting me on,
how is he throwing for all these ungodly amount of yards.
(17:49):
He's been in the same damn offense forever, so he
should That's like having an answer to the test.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
It's still fellon. I feel like there is a scenario
a team that could be looking for a quarterback next year. Oh,
by the way, if this guy has been kirk cousins
offensive coordinator before the La Rams mast staff of retired
oh boy Sean McVay was his offensive Cordner's best season
in Washington.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
Maybe you could see the La Rams pick up Kirk Cousins.
I can see the Rams doing that in the desperate move.
And you don't have anything else, Well, they don't. But
you asked, what would.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Kirk Cousins do? Would he just kind of sit out
of football? No, you won't.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
You know why because someone is gonna be willing to
pay you more money. And Kirk Cousins, he's not turning
down anything but his collars. Sorry, I like that uh,
Will Levis. We've got a bit of a marathon of
benched quarterbacks today. Will Levis also officially benched following a
historically bad performance this weekend in front of his ex girlfriend,
(18:50):
too amplifying the tame, there is this the end of
Will Levis's time as an NFL starting quarterback or like
we were just talking about with Kirk Cousins, do you
think some other NFL team.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Will give him a shot down the line? Well, the
Titans did Lewis at his service this year, making him
play on a great two acy joint sprain that he
further aggravated. I didn't think Will Lewis was really good
to begin with, but having a guy play on an
injury like that to your throwing shoulders is a problem.
I'm not the biggest Levis fan. I'm sure somebody will
give him a shot as a backup and have the
chance to work his way up. I don't think too
(19:22):
many people let Sam Darnold would be where he is
now or Gino Smith would be where he is now.
But you know, I think faith can be rewarded. Sometimes
the guys can work their way back to somebody who'll
give him a shot. I don't think. I think he's
done as a starter contracts guy until he earns his
way back to that.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Yeah, I think is what's gonna happen is that Will
Levis would end up on another team. You know why.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
He's a former first round quarterback. He has some ability.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Like Bans pointed out, he was, he's fiving through injuries
and that's never great if you are a quarterback. And
there is a difference between both Levis and Kirk Cousins
Kurt is who he is Will Levis, we still don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
There's still an opportunity for him to turn the corner.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
Based on what we've seen from Sam Donald, people are
riding him off, writing Geno Smith off. All you have
to do is hit the right scheme with the right
coaches who believe in you, and things can turn around.
But as far as being a start in his league,
I think that time is over for Will loves.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Or last one for you.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Here in the marathon of quarterback benches, the Cleveland Browns
are benching Jamis Winston after God didn't save him from
the pick sixes.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Well maybe he did. He can't throw him from the bench,
Can you toche Tochee?
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Do you think the move to DTR is the Browns
trying to do what helps them win games right now,
or maybe even getting.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
A look at DTR, or do you think this is
a bit of a soft tank from the Cleveland Browns.
I don't think it's a soft tank. I think they're
trying to get a look at him because they need
to figure something out. They're stuck with the Watson contract.
They're probably going to have to figure something out with
that where they keep him away from the facility, but
at the same time pay him clearly isn't the answer.
It's just too many interceptions. You gotta see what you
(21:04):
got out of the right time. Who showed flashes, So
he's showed flashes. See, you gotta see what you got
there and get him prepped to go get a couple
of games and there's he gets some tape and see
if there's something to work with for next year.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Yeah, that's kind of what you have to do if
you are Kevin Stefanski, because there's no guarantee that Stefanski
is actually going to survive this. So I think from
a management standpoint, they want to see what DT are
he is and this is the best time for a
lot of teams when you know that you're not in
the playoffs or you're not really in the hunt, and
you have players who are not performing well. Because over
(21:36):
the past four or five games, I mean, Winston has
thrown as the same amount of interceptions as Kirk Cousins
nine even though he's thrown you know, maybe eight touchdowns
as well. But at some point you have to look
towards the future, and this gives dtr An opportunity to
do so.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
Five got the NFL well has said that they might
make a face mask penalties review a book at the
replay assistance from the booth next season. Do you like
this idea or do you think it could be in
a disaster like we saw with the past interference reviews.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
As long as they can make it quick as possible,
that's the thing. Like, however you're going to do replay,
however you're gonna do it right now. There's too much
of it. It takes too long. You've got to have
the Alliance of American Football and now defaunk Spring League
had a sky judge where they could get it done
real quick from up there to the booth. Why can't
we get it done that quickly in the NFL and
with the same level of transparency where they had the
(22:36):
open mic, the hot mic where you could hear what
was going on. For the life of me, I don't
understand why we can't expedite that process. You can even
do banner advertising underneath while you've got that this replay
brought to you by Activision or whatever. I'm for it
if you can keep it quick. If you can't keep
it quick, then no, I'm not. Do we really need
to review face mask? I mean, isn't it obvious when
(22:57):
you see a guy, oh, you know what? Maybe not?
Because I remember why this is a big.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
One against the Rams, him down against the Rams. The
official was standing right behind him, his helmet, his face
mask is on his neck, and they still didn't call it.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
But as a former defensive guy, if we're.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Gonna start calling face masks, we need to call offensive
face mass because we see offensive guys stiff arm all
the time and they grab a guy's face mask as
they're shoving them to the ground. What's never called what
it's always called on the dB or the linebacker who's
now trying to gain favor by grabbing the guy's face mask.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Who's face masking him.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
So, if you're telling me that they're gonna call more
offensive face masks, sign me up for I.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Think that's fair. And I've always loved the sky judge.
I think that's the best solution there is.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
Six Uh, there's now a three way tie the top
the NFC standings between the Detroit Lions, the Philadelphia Eagles,
and the Minnesota Vikings. Though the Detroit Lions looks like
they're in trouble with twenty three players currently on ir
Who do you think will wind up being the NFC's
top two seeds all said and.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Done, well, I've been on Philadelphia for the entire season.
I had them. I thought they were gonna be a
good team that would would round into form. They certainly
have the addition of Sakuon Barkley on the offensive side,
the addition of Vic Fangio on the defensive side, I
thought were master strokes. I'm not the biggest Kellen Moore
fan in the world. I think he's holding Jalen Hurts back,
But as far as the rest of it goes, I think,
to you know, I think Philadelphia is the team to
(24:26):
beat with Detroit having so many injuries. If Detroit was
at full health. I'd say Detroit would be the other,
the other team to beat.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
But a minute, I thought there was a problem in
Philadelphia between Jalen Hurts and A J.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Brown. It appeared as though, whatever now, yeah, whatever guys,
A couple of touchdowns, a little extra emphasis, yeah, extra
hot sauce on the yeah, and then all of a sudden,
everything's kumbaya.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Sign me up for some Philly cheese steaks and some
brotherly love. Because I mean, once again, I mean, this
was a Philly team that lost to the Can's City
Chiefs because they played in Arizona and that field was
just god awful. But this is the team that I
think they're They're hitting this shride at the right time.
And the whole idea of controversy between the two players,
(25:13):
it's only brought them together even more from a bond standpoint,
and big Fangio, Wow, who's seen that coming?
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Well, I mean Vic, I mean Vic's been the blueprint
for defense around the league for the last few years.
Every Sin is not a head coach, well, yeah, it's
that he didn't want to be a head coach. Even
when he was the head coach. He's wanted to be
the head coach of the defense upon the offense off
on someone else, and you know, and that's that was
sort of what ended up kind of hosing him. You know,
at the end, he's not where he's he's a defensive
coordinator trying to play it cosplay as a head coach,
(25:41):
and that's sort of what hoses him at the end.
But that's that's sad. I mean, the bulk of the
NFL is running what Vig Fangio runs. There are a
few exceptions, to Ver being one of them, Minnesota being
one of them. Some of the better defense is out
there there. Do U something a little bit different than
what Vick's doing, but that has taken over the similar
to the way the Shanahan offense took over the NFL. Right,
you had you had everyone buddy shifted the Shanahan offense.
The Fangio defense, well, you know, the pendulum swinging back
(26:03):
the other way a little bit defensively now when you
look at what other people do, but that that defense
is still very effective. They Oh, by the way, the
Eagles have a ton of talent and are able to
run it. Yeah, that's the biggest thing for them now.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
I mean Obviously, they had other running backs a couple
of years ago that proved to be well, and I
think they were using like three or four different backs.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
But when you have a back like sa Kwon and
DeVante Smith and A J. Brown, it changes everything as
far as what you're able to do.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
I mean, you know, it's bad when everyone knows you're
going to do whatever, whether they call it now is
the push or the brotherly shove, they know it and
they still can't freaking stop it, right and Jalen Hurts
has a mass a certain amount of red zone touchdowns
because of this. When you when you have that type
(26:53):
of chemistry gone, it makes it really difficult. And once
again I go back to this, this is that time
of year where you're looking.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
For something, whether it's genuine, was manufactured to.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Kind of galvanize your players and piss them off.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
So by having some stories and letting the bubble back over,
whatever you need to do to get it going, get
it going. And right now the Eagles are definitely flying.
For sure, certainly seen it before. Saquon Barkley in the
running for the MVP. I don't think he's gonna get it.
I think Lamar or Josh Allen are probably going to
wind up with your board. But Saquon's got to be
in the conversation at least for what he's been able
(27:28):
to do, and he's carrying that Philly office. Just think
about this. If you are figuratively and literally.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Yes, if you're the Giants organization, how do you feel today?
Speaker 1 (27:39):
I mean, if you're just counted down? Like, when are
they gonna fire me for this? I made the worst
mistake in franchise test.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
You're waiting at some point when the door opens that
maybe someone's coming to give you your pink slip, because
knowing as though, you allow Saquon Barkley to go to
your division rival and he has them in this position. Oh,
by the way, the Giants are in the opposite direction.
I mean, this is wild.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Yeah. A couple of news and notes, some house cleaning here.
Broncos the second best team in the NFL right now
in terms of health. Only Bills have fewer players on
IL right now with three uh the Broncos have four.
Second most healthy team in the NFL. Lions of course
way out there, uh in the last place. As you
just mentioned, and our old friend Albert Okawebinham uh signed
with the Indianapolis Colts today, So Alberto's still hanging around
(28:26):
the league and joining an offense that severely lacking in
tight ends right now. Two.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
That would have been interesting to see, Okawebenham on Sunday
against the Broncos.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Yeah, they just signed today. But if he had been
last year, if he'd been in that offense a little bit, yeah,
it'd be great. Been good to see this snow line
purpose see what Albert was doing. He was He spent
time with Philly last couple of years and I guess
they just couldn't get him on the field. So it
was funny because when we cut it, everybody was telling, Oh,
he's gonna go star somewhere else. Mann, Well, he looked
like it in the preseason preseason stud. These those guys
are Runnie Hillman, the practice stud. Yes, Franco's crutching and
(29:00):
not rolling on undred after this m
