Speaker 1 (00:10):
Apple iTunes, Spotify, the totally free and awesome the redesigned
iHeartRadio ad where you know, if you see the red
microphone up there in the corner, you could potentially leave
us a talkback like this.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Tay Ben, this is Stacy from Utah. My wife and
I are looking to maybe come to a training camp
next season. I know that you have to purchase tickets
or not purchase them, but you give away the tickets,
but I don't have any info on that. Could you
update me or is there anything that.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
You can tell tell me about that? Thanks? Have a
good night.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Well, first of all, I'm gonna say, bro, have you
even tried leaving a talk pic noms kick?
Speaker 4 (00:55):
Bro?
Speaker 5 (00:55):
Have you ever tried carrot Cake? It's so much favorite,
It's really easy. Once and they haven't released them yet.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Once the team and if you pay attention to their
official account on like Twitter or whatever, they'll tell you
when once the team releases the schedule, the practice schedule
comes out, and they will release those things, and you
go to Ticketmaster and you can reserve tickets for the practices.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
They don't cost you anything, but you do have to
get them.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
You reserve them on ticket Master there and then they
will uh, they'll get those two you electronically and your
your ticket Master wallet.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
So that that's how you do that.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
It's real simple process, super easy. If you can't make it,
you can transfer the tickets to other people.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
That kind of stuff. Super easy stuff. So just you know,
keep that in mind for that.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
I think they give you a limit on the number
of days you can do, like you get like a
three day limit or you know, two practice limits, whatever
it was.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I I've not actually done the process, but I've directed
people to it before and they've all said it was easy.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
So there is that. I'll talk a little bit before
we headed to break.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
And we all have the perception that officiating around the
league is some par Of course, we have the benefit
of hindsight and all the high def cameras instead of
real time trying to figure it out. But there's there's
a gigantic narrative round the amount of calls that Patrick
Mahomes gets, which is funny because they put the most
(02:28):
anti Mahomes referee on that game this weekend in terms
of who calls the most against the Chiefs during his tenure.
But there is there is some of that, and there's
we're starting to see some pushback. Mike Prairie went on
the Rich Eisen Show and this is what he had
to say.
Speaker 6 (02:46):
The fact that you're looking out for anyone, any team,
any individual is a myth. It is an absolute myth.
You don't have time to react and say, this is Goff.
I'm not going to call this because it's golf, this
is Mahomes. I got to call this because it's Mahomes.
I remember when I got hired by the NFL. My
(03:07):
dad's first thing he said to me was, don't screw
the forty nine ers. And I said, Dad, how am
I going to screw the forty nine ers? He said, well,
you know, if rice kids will make sure it's a catch.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
On the sideline.
Speaker 6 (03:16):
And I'm like, Dad, it is literally boom boom. You
don't have time, you don't have time to process. It's
like one twenty sixth of a second. You have to
see a flash and then make a determination. You don't
have time. And the other thing is you don't want
to get fired, you just want to be right. I mean,
there's the other myth, the makeup call. Even if I
(03:37):
knew I was wrong with the call I made. If
I make up and make another bad one to make
up for the other team, I'm done. I mean, I'm
probably out of playoff contentions with two mistakes in one game.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
So it doesn't bother.
Speaker 6 (03:51):
Me because those people that say that don't know a
damn thing about officiating and until you actually put the
uniform on and until you have to make those quick judgments,
and that includes people in the media who can be
quick to criticize. If you haven't done it and you
don't recognize how hard it is in real time and
(04:13):
how easy it is in super slow motion, then get
out of my train, Get off my train.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
My prairia not really not really taking any guff off
anybody there.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
I will say, you know, I used to referee high
school football game is certainly not the same thing as
being an NFL referee, But there is.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
An element to how difficult it can be in the moment.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
I have never been the make I know we all
Riley say that something is a makeup call or whatever,
but I tend to agree with him on those things,
especially when you're at the NFL level.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
You don't want to get fired. That's a good paying job.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
You come in, you come in from one game a week,
you make a bit of money.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
You don't want to get fired.
Speaker 7 (04:51):
WHOA, wait a minute, So what do you actually agree
with him on?
Speaker 2 (04:56):
So I know, so I don't. I don't go off.
You feel free to go.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
I think that I agree with him to the point
that there aren't There isn't an orchestrated conspiratorial thing, and
people aren't throwing calls in an effort to throw games.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Now do I believe they make mistakes? Ab sosolutely?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
So I believe that stars get calls. Maybe the margins
are a little bit different for stars.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yes, I do, yes, But I don't believe. What I
don't believe is.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
There's any kind of organized conspiracy, the secret cabal of
refereeing that's out there trying to push Pat Mahomes through
the playoffs or whatever else.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
I don't believe that.
Speaker 7 (05:37):
So I'm going to disagree with you and Mike pure
because it is true in my begause based on what
I see now and what I've experienced before. And you
just said it because the idea is that he said, well,
there's a myth to favorable cause you just admitted that, yes,
(05:57):
that happens. I mean, we had the Jordan rus in
basketball for a reason because drums playing against the Pistons,
and the league was just like, well, he's now the
face of the NBA. We can't watch him get beat up.
Like we've never seen Michael fill out of a game.
Now we've seen Lebron James foul out, but it's not
at a high level.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
So the league does a great.
Speaker 7 (06:20):
Job of protecting the guys who sell the tickets.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Right, you were boxed office for a reason. Russ. Why
you use stunk doubles?
Speaker 7 (06:31):
Well, I'm sorry, I guess we got stumped doubles as refs.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
As it pertains the officiating a pretty game. I'm saying,
they protect the star.
Speaker 7 (06:37):
That's why, Yes, they are protecting the stars. So what
Mike was saying is totally false because guys get calls.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
And then the other thing about makeup.
Speaker 7 (06:48):
Casts, he said, well, those who don't know who has
been in the shoes me paraphrasing, they really don't know.
I don't need to walk in your shoes as an
official to know that they are. We've seen makeup calls.
Do you remember what the Broncos game when.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
They say, well, ps two, grab the tight end and
the end zone.
Speaker 7 (07:10):
We saw that it was. It was in a call made.
But guess what the official did. He did something that
we've never seen official do.
Speaker 8 (07:17):
And he went over to the bitch where Josh Allen
was sitting down, had a conversation with him, and he
probably said somewhere in there, oh, my bad dog.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
We'll hook you up next time.
Speaker 7 (07:31):
So if there is a belief that refs don't make
bad judgments, we know that happens.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Yes, are there human absolutely are there Bang bang plays.
Speaker 7 (07:43):
Yes, But if everything Mike is saying, we have new
technology in the NFL where you can actually you know
what if there's a question.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
With call, buzz the booth, the buzz down and check
the damn call.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
I really believe that he went over there and said
we'll get you next time.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
What do you think he said, leave that he walked
over there for a reason.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Yeah, And he said, hey, man, just saw the replay
of that and I miss mess that up.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Sorry. I think he apologized.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
I don't think he said, hey, if there's a close
one next time, we'll From.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
What I understand, he also actually told him you can't
cuss me like that on the field, but it chastised
him a little time.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
I would have told him, yes, I can you blew
a call.
Speaker 9 (08:21):
You blew a call, bleep, that's right, right, So you
want me to do you want me to just keep
it on up and up and don't voice my opinion, Well,
you just blew a call that could absolutely caused me
the game, and grant By you say the ref.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Went over there and say, hey, you know what, he
kind of said, my bad. He may not have articulated
that way, but he said it well.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
I think he definitely probably apologized, and to Ben's point,
he probably said, don't speak to me.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Like that either.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
But I mean, even in high school sports, I had
refs come over and be like, hey man, sorry, we
missed that call.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
I don't I never had a ref come over to
apologize for anything. I will say on the other side
of it, when I was ref, probably crust you out.
Oh they're probably actively things against me.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
I heard this guy, this bag.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Like I I remember when I was a when I
was a reference, I had a coach and he was
I was on the sideline, you know, from the side.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
He was giving me the business all game.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
We get a third quarter of this game, and finally
I had it off and I just turned around trom
I said, look, you are down twenty eight to seven.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
How about you coach and I call the game. We
call it reven because look, listen, I get it.
Speaker 7 (09:33):
The referees of anyone, I mean they get I mean,
you get booze from the fans, they probably get threats,
all of these things, right, And I understand.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Uh. And you see a lot of these bang bang.
Speaker 7 (09:46):
Types of plays, but you have replayed for a reason.
Like on every score of possession, there's a review. So
if there's a judgment call, go ahead and review it.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Now.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
I know the argument is like, well, we.
Speaker 9 (10:00):
Own network TV time and run a clock.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
For me, I always feel is best to make sure.
Speaker 7 (10:05):
You got the call right opposed to getting the call
wrong and threatening the integrity of the shield, which is
a big issue in consider for the league.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
Itself, especially with money on the line. Fort play Tree,
and I agree with you wholeheartedly on that, And that's
the same tenementter principle that we apply to journalism right.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Better to get it right than get it first right.
Well know that rule doesn't apply to everyone.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Let me back on a humbler, But that's the good
peoples apply there.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
You go, there are a lot of people that just
shutgun stuff out there. So yeah, put some context on that,
for sure.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
I'm just saying, no, I have to do agree with that.
I don't believe in any organized conspiracy. I do believe
stars get calls, and I believe that in every league.
We see it in basketball. I mean that's where it's
the most clearing, but we see it every league. You
see it in soccer, you see it in hockey. You
see see first of all.
Speaker 7 (10:57):
Then I got to correct, you don't bring soccer into
this conversation because there's a whole bunch of tours in soccer, a.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Bunch of them. I'm with you on that.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
There's there are uh more flops in soccer than there
are uh you know, post country grammar Nelly albums. So
it's uh, it's a deep cut joke for people. Nellyville
was a good seed yes, Oh my god, that was terrible.
(11:32):
That solw was terrible. What it was.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Terrible because you just don't know what the pemp juice is.
Now I know exactly what's gonna happen. It's gonna bump
back with that song.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
I think Nelly is so irrelevant nowadays. I don't think
it's even in our system.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
It's just funny, you men.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
The only album like because my brother worked on the
Country Grammar album, right, was one of the producers in
the County Grandma, But like he didn't work on any
other ones, so that that joke is a bit self
serving as forest things go. So anyway, I do believe
even any organized conspiracy, But I do believe stars get calls.
And I don't know that I like that, but I
recognize it as a reality.
Speaker 7 (12:06):
So what we've been seeing that's been taking place where
Patrick mahomes, is that just coincidence.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
I'm not saying it's coincidence. I mean I think some
of it's I think some of it's a misnomer. I mean,
if you go back and look at the data on this,
the Chiefs get flagged all the time.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Okay, the wind might be a little bit different, So
what that tell you. Listen.
Speaker 7 (12:28):
I told Ryan this early in the early in the year,
I said, I noticed something, you know, early weird about
the kan City Chiefs. Do they get flags, absolutely, but
when the game is on the line, especially in the
fourth quarter, those flags just stop flying. But finding the
directions of So with that being said, Ben, you may,
(12:53):
I don't want to say there's a conspiracy theory, but
to me, man, it's just kind of if it's waltsuck
a duck and it looks like a dugon, is quite
like a duck.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Hell, it's a duck. And that's what I'm calling. It's
a duck right now. Okay, it's a duck, all right.
That's Nick ferguson Major Mallard For those people are wondering, oh.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
You know we could call something. Can we call the
Can we call the Nuggets Stella? They're not Stella but
Stella because she got a groove back.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Well, I guess we can.
Speaker 7 (13:26):
Because the Nuggets have been, uh playing well as a player.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
When you look over at.
Speaker 7 (13:31):
Ten games ample size of the Nuggets, and you look
at how they've been playing on the road, they're five
and oh, they're three and two at home, and they
they dropped the hammer.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
The hammer seventy six is oh, it was yeah, I was,
I had I was like twelve and a half. I
had something. You know whatever, We're going to go the
other way with this. We'll take the six hitters, will
take the under on this and get no embaid. Oh
I missed out all that.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
They and forty points and I'm just sitting there like bad,
it's why.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
And they just kept going, that's a gay as an
NBA in regulation, Yes, not overtime, that's regulation.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Nikola Jokich now has I gave the stat to Ben
the other night you were working KOA Sports. He now
has thirteen triple doubles and three quarters this year, which
is more than any other team combined in any of
their all for all of the whole game. He has
more alone and three quarters of a game this year
than any other team has combined.
Speaker 7 (14:27):
To me, that that's the definition of the ultimate team player.
He knows he's a superstar, right, he knows he's the MVP,
but he's always working to get other people involved. But
there's another guy on the Nuggets roster who I knew
when he came here it was going to change a
lot of things.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
For the Nuggets, and it's Russell Westbrook.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
I will say you were on that too, Like you were,
I was a little skeptical of his edition there, and
he's been phenomenal. I mean, he's playing his best basketball
in years. And you're talking about a guy that was
on the NBA scrap heap, you know, I mean, Westbro
almost one foot out the league. He's back playing his
best basketball in years. They finally found what looks like
(15:05):
the right rotation. Although I hate pulling Aaron Gordon off
and putting him cut as it's working.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
It's working, And Michael Bellen said he Aaron Gordon came
to him give him about it and said, yeah, I'm
happy with coming off the bench if that's what helped
helps make the team better.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
You know what's gonna happen with the Denver Nuggets.
Speaker 7 (15:22):
Nugget's gonna become that team where like the Patriots were
with Tom Brady, right, all those cast offs that people
were like their careers are over, they're done, whatever it is,
they're gonna end up coming to Denver revitalizing their career
because of the watch.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
And I mean it certainly appears that way.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
The lineup that they have with letting Westbrook won the
one and letting Murray tay the two has revitalized Murray
A guy. I was sitting there like, man, we got
to crave this bohm at this point because it's it's
it's gotten out of hit.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Anymore. So you know, it's, yeah, it's it's been. It's
been fascinating to watch.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
I tried to sneak out how still I got a
groove back mentioned in there, and I enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Nobody got that reference. I'm weird. Anyway, we got a
six pack coming up next. You get time for an
NFL six peg. It's time for the NFL six pad.
Speaker 5 (16:10):
I'm gonna take a lot of bear insight and insight
information you can't find anywhere else.
Speaker 9 (16:15):
No.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Six the top six NFL headline. What you know, you
guys make fun of my pads.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
But Nelly talks about being a sucker for Fendi capri
pants and you guys got nothing to say, just signed
females specify.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
He did not specify. Yes, he did not specify six
Uh huh. We all know that dollar assuming the context.
You know what they said about assuming two. I'm just
saying I figured you might have something to say on
this one, Nick, The NFL has revised the Joe Mixon
fine from what he.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Did say to what he did say. For those of
you who don't know what's going on here, the NFL
is taking a mulligan. After issuing a twenty five thousand
dollars fine to Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon for
something he didn't say about the officiating and Saturday's playoff
game against the Chiefs, NFL reissued the fine with his
actual words in place. They find disciplines Mixon for saying, quote,
(17:03):
everybody knows how it.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Is playing up here. You can never leave it in
the ref's hands. The whole world see man.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
The quote wasn't mentioned in the initial fine letter, which
relied on words not.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
From Mixon, but rather from former Bengals letter receiver TJ. Hushmanzana.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
The line from hushman Zana was why play the game
if every fifty to fifty call goes with the Chiefs?
These officials are trash and biased. The irrelevant rule prohibits
any public criticism of officiating because it calls into a
question the integrity of and public confidence in our game.
So that is christ the rule, of course, by opposing
fines on players and coaches, the NFL shines.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
A writer or light on the issue that.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
There were calls in the game worthy of criticism. Then,
like any criticism expressed by Troy Aikman during the broadcast
watched by more than thirty million.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
People, a late slide from Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes drill
foul for a necessary.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Roughness, Aikman said, come on, he's a runner and I
could not disagree with that one more.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
He barely gets hit. It's a second penalty. Now it's
been called against the Texans.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
NFL obviously can't find Aikman because he doesn't own a
part of the team and he doesn't work directly for them.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Me works sure in the broadcast booth.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
But they can, and like they have complained to Aklin's
bosses about it, Aiglan's words have now been superseded by
the Keystone cops effort to take money out of Joe
Mixon's pocket, first by finding him for something he didn't say,
and now by finding him for something less controversial, comments
that he actually made.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Man, let's be.
Speaker 7 (18:23):
Totally honest about this particular situation. I know the league
is trying to protect the integrity of the game. But
it starts with the guys who are officiating the game.
And we've had the conversation about this before. There needs
to be some way that, I mean, more players can
really dispute some of these infractions. I can tell you,
as a player who suffered at the hands of till your.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Enmity because I've sat down on a sideline where he
watched you yell at the uniform guy.
Speaker 7 (18:50):
Yes, that the league needs to find a way to
do something about this situation. Here's the thing, nutshell, if
they really cared about it, wanted to resolve it, if
they have.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
The opportunity, it's in their hands, do they really.
Speaker 7 (19:03):
Want to because guess what, even bad publicity is.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Good for publicity, right two, This one's for granted. Well,
the story is anyway. Al Golden is.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Headed back to Cincinnati after three seasons as Notre Dame
is defensive coordinator. Multiple ports are out there that Golden's
finalizing a deal of return of the Bengals is defensive
coordinator Pete. THEAMOLVSPN noted Golden had informed Notre Dame officials
of his decision already. Golden was Cincinnati's linebackers coach under
head coach Act Taylor from twenty eight twenty to twenty
twenty one, helping the club reach the Super Bowl in
the latter season. There After stance as a college's head
(19:35):
coach at Temple and Miami from six to fifteen, Golden
was Detroit's tight end coach from sixteen seventeen and linebackers
coach eighteen nineteen. Bengals fired, Lou had a roomos defensive
coordinator at the end of the regular season. How do
we feel about Al Golden who used to coach for
your Miami Hurricanes there nick and now is the defensive
coordinator for Grantsmith's Bengals.
Speaker 8 (19:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
I like the hire.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
I still feel bad for Lou, you know, but he's
got another gig in Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
I like the hire.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
I just wonder who's gonna be our shutdown corners in
this defense.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Yeah, it's a bunch of man defense.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
So.
Speaker 8 (20:07):
Listen.
Speaker 9 (20:07):
I'm all for anyone getting an opportunity to make the
best out of a football situation for themselves.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
But things change just a little now.
Speaker 7 (20:17):
Al Goldon spent some time in the University of Miami,
obviously did a.
Speaker 9 (20:21):
Great job with the defense with Notre Dame. But now
things are changing just a little.
Speaker 7 (20:27):
I mean, now you're going to Cincinnati and you're replacing Honorama.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Who is now.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
With with with the Coast.
Speaker 7 (20:33):
Now, now we have to see with Golden coming in,
will it actually change the numbers defensively for your Cincinnati
Bengals or would the numbers be exactly the same.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
Hey, as long as we got Joe Burret quarterback, baby,
we're gonna be okay.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Grand City's willing to bitch some skyl one Jillie on
it now. I don't want diabetes three. I don't know
if we care about this one or not. You guys
remember Natani Moody.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Yeah, the Tindy Moodies first season with the Lions ended
in the summer after injury. But he'll be back in
twenty twenty five. The Lions and else they have re signed.
Moody today signed a future contract with the team. Last
Pepburary misused the entire year after hurting his shoulder early
in training camp. Mooty, the course, was a twenty twenty
sixth round pick in Denver. He appeared in twenty games
over three seasons with the team. He moved on to
play in two games for the Raiders in twenty twenty three.
(21:22):
Left guard gram Glasgow is under contract for the next season.
Also another the Bronco from Bronkom. Right guard Kevin Zeitler
is not. Christian Maggay started in Zeitler's place in last
Saturday's Division Round loss to the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Do we care about Tony Moody? Not really? No, Grant
shaking his head, No, nope, all.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Right, I'm trying to remember who it was, because I
think it was Big Al that used to say that
he was our best offensive lineman when he was here.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
They've done wrong on that, didn't he thank?
Speaker 1 (21:49):
Kyle Trask was the next time back? Yeah, I didn't
want to. Wow, you might be headed to the Raiders
with John Spights. I've taken the GM job. We might
get to take him to Trask twice a week.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
See how I did.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Or Saints planning second interviews with Joe Brady and Kellen
Moore next week. Saints planning for in person interviews with
Brady Kellen Moore for ESPN or excuse me for Ian
Rappord Snow in New Orleans slowed down the search process
this week, postponing in in person interviews with Giants offensive
coordator Mike Kapka, Aaron Glenn, who ultimately witched the Jets,
(22:22):
and Dolphin's defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver. Former Cowboys head coach
Mike McCarthy is also expected to interview a team headquarters
this week. Brady, the Bill zoc More Eagles oc are
coaching in championship games. They would be available to interview
during the off week next week even if their teams
make the Super Bowl. Both have had virtual interviews already.
Saints internim head coach Darreon Rizzy completed his interview his
(22:43):
in person interview where we think about Joe Brady, Kellen Moore,
and Mike McCarthy appearing to be the front.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Runners in New Orleans.
Speaker 7 (22:51):
Ooh, I mean, I gotta say Joe Brady because his
ties to New Orleans been an LSU and being with
the Saints. I think, for me, the creativity of Joe Brady,
and we saw it on for display when the Broncos
played the Buffalo Bills. I think that would be something
that fits the skill set of the offensive players in
New Walles. I mean, when you got a back like
(23:11):
Alba Kamara in the backfield, and then you said, okay,
well think about what you did for James Cook with
the Bills, and then you get Alba Kamara, who I
think is a more dynamic back. I mean that could
be in a lot for the Saints, who that's what happens.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
They'd be in.
Speaker 7 (23:25):
They're in a division that you can just overtake. Is
a very easy division to win.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Then it is, uh it is competitive? Well no, no, no, no, no, no,
what are you grabbed? Okay, that's easy? Uh, there is
that too. It's not the AFC South, but we'll it
might be the next closest thing. Five.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Our commander in chief, dan Quinn says the commander's feed
off the dismissiveness of their doubters.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
No one outside the locker room.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Was surprised when the Commanders lost to the Buccaneers thirty
seven to twenty in the season opener. Commanders, after all,
were coming off a four and thirteen. So he's in
with a new coach, a rookie quarterback and coach. Dan
Quinn quoted today saying, I was like, hey, bleep you,
that's not how it's going to go down. I wasn't
disrespect it was dismissiveness, and I felt some kind of way,
(24:13):
we're going to need to be a lot better than
what we showed today, and eventually we'll show that. So
not to prove to everybody or else their underdog stories,
how we'll get down. Commanders turn around at the end
of the year. So there's plenty of people with wins
over the Bucks and the Lions. Of the postseason reached
the NFC Championship Game, in which Quinn and Jayden Daniels
first season in Washington and the Commanders, of.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Course remained Underdog's a role they're just fine playing.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
But Jeremy Chim, nephew of won Steve at Water got
up and said, at some point, I'm sure people start
believing in us by that same chip on our shoulder.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
That's the way we come into work every single day.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
What do you think about the Commanders playing the underdog
card as they go to face Philly.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
I like it.
Speaker 7 (24:49):
They are the underdog car even though if I'm not mistaken, they.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Beat Philly earlier this season.
Speaker 7 (24:54):
But when you play with your back against the wall,
then everyone has that same understanding. It somehow catapults everyone
for because we know when you get to the final
four in the playoffs, there's a lot of distractions. People
are anticipating whether you're gonna go to the super Bowl
or not, and then that conversation can be like a
tsunami and overwhelmed teams emotionally and they don't go out
(25:17):
there to perform well. But if you had the mindset
that you're still an underdog and let that carry you through, it's.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Gonna help you.
Speaker 7 (25:24):
Because you're going into the city they call it brotherly love,
but you're not gonna get a lot of that brotherly love.
Speaker 9 (25:30):
No.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
This is the city famous for throwing batteries at Santa Claus.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Yes, so you know.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
And they also had that guy fired for screaming at
the Green Bay fan up there in the well.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
He got himself fired. Y fan base.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
It's funny to me because a lot of people say
that the Oakland Raiders was the worst.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Philly is by far the worst fan base.
Speaker 7 (25:52):
Yes, that they are. I can attest to it. I
know I rated games when I played. I would tell
my family and friends, don't wear in near of the
team that I'm playing with because I can't save you.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Yeah, once you get in the parking lot, right, yes, yeah,
don't do that.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
But yeah, the Philly Ones is so by far the
worst experience I've ever seen as far as as far
as that goes, So let's be.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
The last bick. The Jets have found their.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Head coach hiring erin Glenn today now that need define
their general manager. Aaron Glenn has agreed to a deal
to coach the team, and their search for a GM
to work with him, we'll expand to include at least
two more interviews.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Multiple reports of the team will have.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
Second interviews with Broncos assistant general manager Derren Muji and
Bengal's senior personnel executive Trey Brown. The Jets had commander's
assistant general manager at Lance Newmark in for a second
interview this week, and his prior work with the Lions
while Glenn was in Detroit suggested they might come in
as a package. That's not the case at this point.
Jets maybe headed in the different directions. All said and done,
what do we think about the Jets potentially rating the
(26:51):
Broncos at assessant general manager if they already planned to
rate them at Special Teams coordinator.
Speaker 7 (26:56):
I think it's a good move because you're always searching
for talent and I'm not gonna say up and coming
talent because Mojie's been in the game for a while
and he's done a great job at identifying talent for
George Paton and the Broncos, and every team is trying
to find ways to get better. It's easy been to
(27:16):
go out and find those guys that everyone's talking about
every the guy that everyone expects to be that first
day pick. But finding those guys that filled out the
mainly portion of your roster, your special teams general and
compete is very difficult. We know where the Jets are right.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Now and they've had some personnel issues.
Speaker 7 (27:33):
If a Moosie can go in there and both he
and ag get on the same page, we can see
one of these Detroit Lions type of comebacks that we
haven't seen before.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
It's easy to find the patser Tans as it were,
but not so easy to find the Devon Vallets, no
or not the Coopers no? You know, so yeah, definitely
missing him would be I think he's been I think
he's been vital to what the dever Broncos have done,
you know, over the years, and I think he's been
a pretty good lieutenant for George Peyton. I don't know
if everybody knows this or not, but Darogi was Kevin
(28:05):
O'Connell's roomate in college. There were college teammates, roommates, and
so you know, I mean, he has relationships across the league,
not just with the Broncos, but with other front offices
or coaches of that kind of stuff, and I think
he's been pretty good at his job. Trey Brown of
the Bengals is certainly an interesting an interesting interview. I
(28:26):
still think Lance Newmark winds up getting that job, but
we'll see.
Speaker 7 (28:30):
I think it will bowl wells for the Broncos if
Mouji were to take that job, because it would definitely
show that what happened this year with the Broncos. One
can kind of look at it and say, well, it's
a flute because we only deal with one year sample size.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
But you just look at the.
Speaker 7 (28:49):
Number of players under George Peyton that have played and contributed,
not just on the roster, but you got guys who
are contributing, and they're young players, first year, the third
year type of players, and you lean on your scouting
staff because they have a lot to do with it.
They got to go find these guys for you to
(29:11):
bring in to develop and you know hopefully, uh, I mean,
it'd be tough to see him go. But I know
every coach and every guy on the scouting department is
trying to take their careers or a different level.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
So I would applaud it.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Yeah, and again, what a testament to where the Broncos
are now. The fact that you've got coordinators, coaches, front
office personnel all looking to get poached by other teams.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
That has not been a concern and quite some time.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
I'm trying to get the last time, you know, I
talked about this a little bit, but last time we
had somebody poached. You know, Brandon Staley's contract ran out
that he went on for being linebackers coach to go
be defensive coordinator. I don't know that I would call
that a poaching because his contract ran out and no
proj back it go be a DC man.
Speaker 7 (29:59):
No, that's not that's not poaching. Poaching is in the
you know, the definition of the word. Someone is already
on your staff, they're still under contract, and you get
a promotion to go somewhere. So another team sees value
in that particular person. Now they want to acquire and
add that that person to their staff. So to me,
(30:19):
it's it's a good thing for the Broncos. There's some
recognition based on the team get to the playoffs after
eight year, nine year drought, but to have the conversation
circulating around certain coaches and front office staff probably going
to other places, that means you're doing something.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Well, yeah, that's and I mean, yeah, that's that's the whole.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
That's the thing about it is once you have success,
everybody wants a piece of that success.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
And you know it's in tuation.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
You see certain organizations always seem to have somebody from
their organization getting getting interviewed places like.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
You know in Baltimore, you know they're always.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
Having assistant coaches in front office guys get interviews somewhere
Ring Bay having a little bit of that. You know,
there are successful organizations obviously San Francisco. There are organizations
that can have that. I'm kind of interested to see
if the Broncos be calm that organization.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
Look, it's like what Parsales told me when I first
arrive at the Jets from Buffalo.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
You start worrying when people stop talking to you.
Speaker 7 (31:19):
Yeah, so right now, the Broncos coaching staff, in front
office people. They are being mentioned in the conversation. We
will have to see as the days go on whether
something comes to fruition. But it's best to have people
talking about you, well yeah, talking about you.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
It's always better that people talking about you, and certainly
better when people are trying to you having degrees of
success where people are trying to emulate that by getting
your guys.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Broncos. Country Tonight rolls on after this.
Speaker 7 (31:51):
If it's it's like a duck and it looks like
it's quite like a duck.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
Hell is the duck? All right? That's Nick Ferguson, Major Mallard.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
Yeah,
