Speaker 1 (00:00):
Pats or tand still a very young football player, and
having already been a first team All Pro selection. You
might think that he can already reached his ceiling. But
I think the best for him is he had to come.
He would be my pick if I had to predict
a Navy leader for twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
How would you rate my pick of Nick Benito?

Speaker 1 (00:16):
You know, I think that he's an underrated player and
a fantastic and has a fantastic opportunity to be a
great contributor. Is he going to be someone who leaves
the team in av Now? I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Roccos Country, I betema.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
All right, Gransmith, go right out to g Comms Broth
Hotline and bringing on our guy Ryan Michael at the
Ryan Michael on Twitter. Ryan, you know, it's it's tough
to remain humble when you're when you're this good at
what you do. It's it's tough to remain humble when
you when you call your shot like that, and uh,
you know, you really just need to let the whole

(00:49):
I can't even keep up this bit anymore.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
How you doing, man?

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Oh man? I'm doing well. And you know you're basking
in the adulation so much, I don't want your ego
to get any bigger. I've been in this field for
seventeen years. That prediction is probably the most wild one
that's ever hit. And the hit spot on the way
that it did, I have no explanation.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Oh well, I feel like maybe a nother thing or
two every once in a while. Who knows, SA I
probably got lucky. Where are we getting from? Congratulations by
the way, on the new gig, do you want to
explain to everybody what that is appreciating?

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Sure? So I'm going to be joining head coach Dave
Warner's staff the Croud Lions of the European League of
Football as a defensive analyst. So I spent time with
the Barcelona Dragons last year. So this is my second
season coaching in Europe. It's an all star coaching staff
and I'm very proud to be a small part of it. Obviously.

(01:44):
Dave Warner, he was a starting quarterback for Syracuse. He
was a quarterback coach and co offensive coordinator at Michigan State.
He helped prepare four quarterbacks for the NFL, Ryan Hoyer,
Connor Cook, Nick Foles went on to win a Super
Bowl MVP. Kirk Cousins twelve touchdowns away from three hundred career,
so not a bad resume. I helped lead Michigan State

(02:07):
to the College Football Playoffs in twenty and fifteen, and
last year he was the offensive coordinator of the Madrid
Bravos in their first season of operation. They made the
postseason and I had the opportunity to coach against coach Warner.
He was the most difficult offensive coordinator for me to
prepare for last year, so I'm glad I don't have
to deal with playing against him anymore. Defensive coordinator James Brooks.

(02:31):
He's been one of the best edge rushers in Europe
for a long time. He's taking over as our defensive coordinator.
Last year. Of speaking to him earlier today, put up
nearly negative two hundred yards on sacks and TFLs alone.
Golden pat Rule. He helped Brett Favre earn two All
Pro selections with the Packers two thousand and one to

(02:51):
two thousand and two, helped Reggie Bush win a Heisman Trophy,
won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks. So I'm
very excited to be a small part of what this
team is doing.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
We look forward to it.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Grant and I are sitting here waiting, of course, for
free merch, because that's what we're this whole, this whole
thing for worldly ry.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
We're only in it for the merch.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
So you know, so we're gonna, We're gonna continually harangu
you until that happens.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
You know, a lot of people are saying.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
That Eagles running back Sake Bob Barkley have one of
the greatest single seasons in NFL history.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Do you feel like this will be measured?

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Is that as the case or is this more a
matter of recency bias?

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Seventeen games? What?

Speaker 3 (03:27):
What?

Speaker 2 (03:27):
What's your take on saque season?

Speaker 1 (03:30):
It's not recency bias. And if you actually look at
the numbers, he will He's thirty yards away from breaking
TVs NFL single season record for most rushing yards regular
season and postseason combined. Davis put up two thousan, four
hundred and seventy six and nineteen ninety eight. Park was
sitting there at two thousand, four hundred and forty seven,

(03:51):
and I suspect they'll get those thirty yards and fewer
carries than it took Davis. So it's not a matter
of a longer season here, if you're just looking on
a per carry basis, and third place, this is Terrel
Davis nineteen ninety seven two thousand, three hundred and thirty
one yards. So let's take a moment to acknowledge how
remarkable it is that Terrell Davis held the top two
spots in NFL history in back to back seasons. So

(04:13):
if Barkley breaks the record on his birthday, he's certainly
got to earn it.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Yeah, that is certainly, Uh, it is certainly huge. And Saquon,
you know, it was. It was a spectacular season. I
think we all saw that. Even in the last game.
I was down there. I was down there, amobile was
sitting there eating dinner, and I was at the table,
and then the next to me was the Eagles contingent
that was down there scouting and watching the watch the
Eagles Commanders game, and Barkley just ripping off those runs

(04:37):
to start, and we're just we're all just sitting there
just shaking our head, like, how how is this reality
that this guy's this good? But it was certainly a
great season for him, you know, speaking of spectacular, breathtaking, really,
you know that that Nick Bonito AV prediction. It's it's
really stands. It's almost a Hall of Fame level prediction.
And maybe uh you as a as a as somebody

(04:59):
who's worked with a Hall of Fame can put something
in there.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Can you explain to the listeners again who may not
understand what AV is when we were talking about that conversation.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Sure thing. So AV is an efficiency metric per Pro
Football Reference, and what it does is it levels the
playing field between all positions. So dominant at quarterback isn't
necessarily going to be rewarded with a greater AV than
dominance at any other position. So Nick Benita led the
team this year, as you predicted, at a sixteen. I

(05:29):
picked Patzer ten, which was really the safe choice, right.
He came and tied for second place at a fifteen.
Zach Allen also put up a fifteen. Rookie quarterback Bo
Nicks at a thirteen. But to put into context just
how dominant a sixteen is, it's the highest mark by
any Denver Bronco King Von Miller put up a seventeen
in twenty fifteen, So we're talking almost a decade sample size.

(05:52):
Every single position you take, whose previous career high and
av was a three was a three. I have no words.
It's dominance on like anything we've seen in a long
time since the prime of Von Miller, and I'm looking
forward to see what Nick Bonito is going to do
with us next year.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Well, speaking of next year, Ryan, what do you think
is the biggest priority for the Broncos this offseason?

Speaker 2 (06:18):
We've been playing the Ky Adams sound with Sean.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Payton earlier about you know, must needs and wants. What
do you think is the biggest priority. Is it a
tight end, is it a dominant running back?

Speaker 2 (06:28):
What do you think?

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Well, we've heard the cliff played back a bunch of
times this week, so you know, as far as Joker
is concerned, Sempayne's looking for a position that's going to
be a missionish tight end or running back, and you
know we have needs to add both. In my opinion,
I would say tight end would be the position that
we should and we probably will target. Who it's going
to end up being remains to be seen. We could

(06:51):
conceivably trade up for Tyler Warren out of Penn State,
or maybe we say pretty at number twenty and we
get Colston Lovelin from Michigan. It's possible we could do
some thing in free agency as well. Drew Brees at
the peak of his power, that offense ran through Jimmy Graham,
well before there was a Michael Thomas or in Alvin
Kamara and Gonis right now reminds me a lot more

(07:12):
of the version of Drew Brees we saw for the
first half decade in selling Payton's offense. So there's needs
in multiple places. I believe that we can have success
with running back by committee. The twenty eleven New England
Patriots are a great example of that. They were successful
and made it as far as the Super Bowl, mostly
on the shoulder of Tom Brady, of course, but they

(07:33):
had a number of running backs putting up production. The
issue with Javonte this year is you cannot have your
leading rusher averaging only three point seven yards per carries,
so we have to clean that up. But I think
tight end is a position to target in the offseason.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Yeah, I did to agree.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
I mean, you go back and you look and you
look at what made this passing offense tick, and it
really was, you know, a tight end clearing things out
for the other receivers, and so you know, I tend
to believe that that's the priority, whether or not that's
the first things signed or drafted or whatever. I tend
to think that they do have a bigger emphasis on
making sure they resolve that than anything else you know

(08:08):
out there three days away from the Super Bowl, Man,
you got any predictions for us?

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Well, Casey, I believe the line when I last when
I last checked it, they're negative one. So you know,
I think they should be a favorite by more than
one point. They certainly have the considerable advantage in terms
of postseason experience, but with the Eagles playing in their
second Super Bowl three years, they're not exactly new to
this situation either. Both teams are playing well offensively and defensively.

(08:37):
Say that Philadelphia has the edge defensively, but close that.
My question marks would be if Saquon Barkley can be
slowed down, I don't think they're going to have any
shot at actually stopping him altogether. And if Jalen Hurts
can remain one hundred percent healthy, what does that look
like if the pressure is on his shoulders. Because he's
benefited from Saquon Barkley in the same way that Lamar

(08:59):
Jackson benefited from Derrick Henry Alliers. So I think it's
going to be another big day for Patrick Mahomes. I
don't think he's going to be playing with four hundred yards,
four touchdowns, or any kind of video game numbers, but
perhaps something similar to what we saw last year with
Kansas City pulling it out by three or six points.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
Ryan, We've got the Hall of Fame induction here coming
up in a little bit. Do you think Adam Adam
Vanitaria Adam van Ry Sorry, I'll spit it out one
of these days. Do you think he is a first
ballot Hall of Famer? And is it even possible for
a kicker to be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Yeah, it's possible for anybody at any position to be
a first ballot Hall of Famer. And Adam Vanity will
forever be immortalized for the clutch kick, not just the
Super Bowl winners. But I remember the two thousand and
six Divisional Playoff when he was with the Indianapolis Colts,
and he produced every point on that Colts offense and
they knocked off Baltimore, who was one of the most
dominant teams that decade. So if you're talking to clutch moments.

(09:59):
If you're talking to six with multiple franchises, it's tough
to do better than Adam Minitari, who played in the
league for a very, very long time. Whether or not
he'll get in on the first ballot is a difficult,
difficult column. Excited to see the results later this evening,
but I'm rooting for him. I think Adam minitary. I
can't tell the story of the NFL without him, and
that by itself, I don't think it's a good measure.

(10:20):
Is you could say that for Kim Tebow, the difference
between Adam and Tibo if he produced on the field
and was the leader of his position.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Yeah, you know what, Ryder, you know what I'm gonna
I'm gonna ask you for the next time. I've been
for several years trying to lobby for Henry Ellard to
make the Hall of Fame, and I'm going.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
To enlist your services.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
So the next time we do this, I want you
to help me make the case that rams wide receiver
Henry Ellard absolutely belongs in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Oh I can. I can give you a stip out
of that right off the top of my head, because
I know from memory that you retired with over thirteen
thousan in receiving yard, top three all time of receiving
at the time of his retirement of the late nineties.
There's a compelling argument to be made there, and there
are a lot of deserving wide receivers. It's going to
be competitive discussion in that room, but certainly Henry is

(11:11):
a guy who deserves a lot more recognition. And I've
always been a strong advocate for players who have played
their positions at a dominant level, and as time passes,
we don't fully appreciate what those numbers mean. So you
look at a little over thirteen thousand receiving yards and
that's still a lot now, but it meant a lot
more in the late nineteen nineties. So there's definitely a

(11:32):
conversation to be had for him.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Yeah, he was putting on multiple thousand yard seasons after
thirty years old, didn't really give you because he was
a returner early like this, first three or four years
in league, yet almost no statistical accomplishment. If he had
been starting at receiver at that point, he would have
come a lot closer to the old time mark. You know, obviously,
I don't think anybody's ever really challenging Jerry Rice, but
certainly could have challenged for second.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Absolutely, And if you look at production through a certain age,
Larry Fitzgerr b out produced Jerry Rice by a number
of menders who just didn't play quite as long as
Jerry did.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Yeah, that is very true. I'm talking with Ryan Michael
at the Ryan Michael out Twitter. Ryan, we're putting together
a parlay for the Super Bowl. Ask everybody around the
office here for one.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Leg to put in on this thing.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
And so I want from you what you think would
be the surest bet. You know, it could be anything,
can be somebody going for certain number, yard age or whatever.
So I have some of these legs already in so
there are some that if you pick one of these things,
I'll let you know. But I'm looking for your what
you think is the surest bet that we can add
to this parlay, because in the end, it'll be like

(12:38):
a twenty leg parlay. I'll put like one hundred bucks
on it. If we win, then I'll put the money
up with everybody and go from there.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Can we go with it? Very irritating Travis Kelsey postgame
celebration song.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
No, that is not one of the things that we do.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
This will have to be a statistical accomplishment on the
field or game line or something like that. But I
would certainly bet I would certainly bet on that that
somehow Travis would have the Taylor Swift you know music
up after if Kansas City were to win.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Sounds like fun.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Yeah, I just need just need.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
A leg from you whenever you get to get a chance,
if you want to send that over to me, so
I could put that on the put it on the
parlay because we'll get that shipped off tonight.

Speaker 5 (13:21):
As we as we as we look at this thing,
Kansas City, it's it's funny because Dave and I were
talking earlier and the betting on this is going wildly
different than I would expect.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
A lot of the bets and a lot of the money.
You're on Philadelphia plus one, Whereas I look at this
thing and I'm I'm on Kansas City side of it.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Am I looking at this thing weird?

Speaker 1 (13:40):
I don't think you are. I don't think you are.
I mean, it's a close matchup, it's a coin flip game.
My God tells me it's going to be as much
as I don't want to see it. My God tells
me it's going to be Kansas City again, and I
guess we'll see. We got three days.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Is there any specific for let's go there, Any specific
anything you are looking forward to out of this super
from the game itself to the halftime to the commercials.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
What I'm looking for and you know I love quarterbacks, ben,
So I'm looking forward to seeing how Patrick Mahomes responds
to the pressure that I expect Philadelphia is going to bring.
I want to see how he's going to perform on
that stage if Philadelphia's the defensive at their very best,
because I've seen him put up a lot of big
games against the defenses who weren't all that impressive. But

(14:26):
I think if he's tested and he's put in a
spot where I think he might know this might be
his last shot at another Super Bowl ring. And you
might accuse me of saying that I'm a little bit
quick to the trigger on that, but you can't take
for granted five Super Bowl appearances and potentially for Super
Bowl ring. So I think Patrick is fully present in
terms of just how important this moment it's going to be.
So we're going to get to watch history in the making.

(14:47):
I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Well, I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Ryan Michael, congratulations on the new gig with in European
football there with Prague and looking forward to hearing from
you here again soon.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Sounds good. Thanks guys, appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
That's Ryan Michael at the Ryan Michael on Twitter. Always
love getting a chance to talk to him. And yeah,
congratulations on the defensive analyst job there with the Prague Lions.
And we're looking forward to uh uh you know, Gret
and I are looking forward to uh to getting some
free merch're we're definitely that's the whole sole reason we're
in this.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
I bet there's some sweet merch for the Prague Lions.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
We're gonna we're gonna look this up during the break
and see what the see what the logo and all
that kind of stuff is. That's that's the thing, because
I like I've been you know, like I said, I've
been making the uh the studio there at the house.
That's what I want to do for the background is
put the put all those log because nobody else have that.
Everybody's got, you know, the NFL logos or college football
stuff like that. I want to do something that nobody
else has, so uh you know ingratiate the integrate those

(15:40):
logos into there as well.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
We come back. You went to ANFL six pack. Sure,
I got a question for you though.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
First, all right, who are your first ballot Hall of
famers on this?

Speaker 2 (15:51):
On this list? Oh? Man, I have to look at
the list again. I don't have it right in front
of you.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
Marshall yonda no, Adam vin Terry, Yes, Eli Manning, m No,
I'm a hard no on that.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
Oh, he'll get it and maybe, Oh yeah, I think
he's definitely deserving of being in the Hall of Fay.
It just won't be first ballot. Who else was on there?

Speaker 4 (16:09):
Tourell Suggs maybe probably you think first ballot for Trell Suggs.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Probably it'll be close. Oh, I don't know, man, you
don't think so.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
I think he's a great player, but I just don't
think he's a first ballot Hall of Famer. Okay, there's
a couple more on the list, but I can't remember
off the top of my head.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Yeah, I mean Suggs is somebody that's man, that's that's interesting. Loukeley. Yeah,
he'll probably get he'll probably get there.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
You would think Suggs is he's what seventh eighth old
time in NFL sacks?

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Yeah, maybe I just don't like him.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
That that must be it, because if there's like two
sacks shy of Michael Strahan if I remember correctly, Okay,
maybe he's a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
That's fair. I hope Venterterry gets in first ballot.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Yeah he should, I mean he should. He's just you know,
he's one of the greatest kickers to ever play the game.
And to me, that feels like that'll be we come
back with the NFL six back.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
This is the Broux Country night minsure with a playfake
rolling to his left. Now floats one, two, Hi, it's
gonna be intercepting. That's the Golne down the.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
West sideline, intercepting this passer Tan Certain's gonna house college.
That highlight is indicative of something, because it's time for
the NFL six back.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
It is time for the NFL sixth pad.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
I'm gonna trade the last year inside information you can't
find anywhere else. No.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Six the top six NFL headline.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
What a little bit of breaking news from just about
fifteen minutes ago. Patzertan wins the NFL's Defensive Player of
the Year, second player in team history to win Defensive
Player of the Year, joining Hall of Fame linebacker Rady
Granishar in nineteen seventy eight.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Earning the award.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
Von Miller finished second in the voting to the War
in twenty twelve and twenty sixteen when he was.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
With the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Corner Champ Bailey was second in two thousand and two
when he played in Denver. Sir Tam won the award
with three hundred and thirty points and twenty six of
fifty first place votes. The Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson
was two hundred and five points eleven first place votes.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
That was second.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
Brown's ed rusher Miles Garrett had one hundred and sixty
two points on five first place votes.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Steelers ed rusher TJ.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Watt one hundred and fourteen points three first place votes,
and Eagles linebacker Zach Bond the sixty three points two
first place votes.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Yeah maybe future Broncos linebacker Zach Bond.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
People are talking about all this that I'm like, come on, no,
but I was just too excited. Made me mess out.

Speaker 4 (18:45):
The beginning of the NFL six pack because Patrick's are
tad Man. How exciting is it to have the defensive
player of the year on your roster and he's the
first cornerback since twenty nineteen to win Defensive Player of
the Year.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
I mean, I think this is just proof of how
good he is.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
He's found getting the recognition that we've known around here
for a couple of years that he's the best cornerback
in the game, and now he's got the hardware to
show it.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Sir Tam mashed a.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Career high interceptions were four, led the NFL with one
hundred and thirty two interception return yards, scoring one hundred
yard touchdown on a pick six against the Raiders, which
was the clips that Grant played to open the segment.
Eleven passes defense his fourth consecutive season with double digit
passes defense.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
According to the team.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Sir Tann had ninety two covered snaps against five AFC
Pro bowlers this season and allowed a total of six
receptions on sixteen targets for fifty six yards, no touchdowns,
two interceptions, and an eight point three passer rating.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
Game would literally be.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
Three times better throwing the ball into the dirt that
it would be throwing the ball at Patzer Tams. Tam
for his sake, also won First Team All Pro Pro
Bowl NFLPA Players, First Team All Pro PFWA All NFL Player,
won a one award AFC Defensive Player of the Year, and.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
DA Marius Thomas Team MVP.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
How much how many more years do we have him
under contract?

Speaker 3 (20:04):
He said, a four year deal, so, I mean all
NFL deals are two year with team options after that.

Speaker 4 (20:09):
So he seems like he's going to be a guy
that's going to be a Bronco for like well, I.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
Mean, vun we all thought that was gonna be the
same as good point two.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
Jayden Daniels has earned Offensive Rookie of the Year. The
Commander's quarterback capped his record setting rookie season with the
award number two overall pick, taking over some more hardware.
He's the first Washington player to win the award since
quarterback RG three and twenty twelve. Washington running back Mike
Thomas won Offensive Rookie Award in nineteen seventy five. Daniels

(20:39):
was the favorite award since early in the season. Daniels
had four hundred and ninety five points forty nine of
fifty first place votes. Brock Bauers finished second with and
he had the only other first place vote with two
hundred and fourteen points. O Nicks finished third with one
hundred and fifty three points zero first place votes. Jaguars

(21:00):
Brian's Thomas the wide receiver, fourth Giants receiver Molik Neighbors
finished fifth. Daniels had the highest completion percentage by a
qualified rookie quarterback ever, most rushing yards by a rookie
quarterback in NFL history, fourth highest passer rating by a
qualified rookie quarterback of all time, and through for thirty
five hundred and sixty eight yards twenty five touchdowns. The
Commander's Course won fourteen games, including the playoffs with Daniels

(21:23):
at the quarterback ties him with Ben Roethlisberger, who had
fourteen wins and fourth Steelers for the most by a.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
Rookie quarterback including the postseason.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Joe Flack, obrock Party and Mark Sanchez the only other
quarterbacks to win multiple playoff games. Commander's Course went twelve
to five in the regular season reach the NFC Championship
game after upsets over the Bucks and the Alliance.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
Yeah and you mentioned tyn Ben Roethlisberger for that record
for most rookie wins. Ben was stepping into a little
better situation, a little more stable situation than Daniels. Yeah,
and first Commanders or Washington player since RG three seems
like his style of play is much more sustainable than
RG three was as a quarterback. And I know people

(22:04):
are going to be up in arms tomorrow about bo
Nicks not getting any first place votes. I think it
played out exactly as it should have. I mean, if
you're going to vote for a quarterback for first place,
you're going to vote.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
For Jayden Daniels.

Speaker 4 (22:16):
So I think it makes sense that one other guy
went with Rock Bowers, But I still don't even like
that vote. I thought he was clearly the best rookie
in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
This, Yeah, I don't understand you can vote Bowers over
Jaydon Daniels.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Now whatever.

Speaker 6 (22:29):
Free the Giants allowed Saquon Barkley to walk away in
free agency, and Saquon ran all the way to Offensive
Player of the Year three hundred and forty five carries,
two thousand and five yards, thirteen touchdowns, thirty three catches
two hundred and twenty five.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Yards, two more touchdowns, Barkley ninth player in NFL history
to rush for one of two thousand yards of a season,
eighth most in league history. Only player at NFL history
to rush for two thousand and more yards and thirteen
to more touchdowns while averaging more than five point eight
yards per carry. Martually won the award over Bengals receiver
Jamar Chase, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burt, Jerrick Henry.

(23:08):
Based on the vote spread here, it would seem to
indicate that Lamar Jackson might wind up with the MVP
award over Josh Allen. A lot of people thought Josh
Allen was gonna win it. I haven't seen that announced yet,
but the voting spread here on Offensive Player clearly in
favor of Lamar Jackson. So fascinating in something to keep
your eye on if you're watching for that as well.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Yeah, And I mean, say, Kwon Barkley had a historic
year and you knew he wasn't gonna win MVP. It's
between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, so you have to
give him Offensive Player of the Year. I mean, he
had a historic year. He's ran for over two thousand yards,
as you said, and He is a fifty fourth player
in NFL history with twenty touchdowns in a season.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
I mean, what are we talking about here?

Speaker 4 (23:50):
If he plays that last week of the year, he
may be in the MVP.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
Yeah, as gonna say, it probably should have been more
of that conversation, but we just don't give it.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
The running backs So.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Four former Broncos defensive coordinator Joe Woods is joining the
Raiders as defensive pass game coordinator. It's also a former
Saints defensive coordinator. Cherry Fowler of ESPN reporting Woods taking
the job as the defensive pass game coordinator heading to
Las Vegas today. Woods, who's fifty four, was the Saints
defensive coordinator past two seasons, following three seasons as the

(24:20):
Browns defensive coordinator.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Woods's coach in the NFL for twenty one seasons was.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
A defensive quality control coach for the Bucks, the DB's
coach for the Vikings for twenty six, six, thy thirteen,
DB's coach for the Raiders and fourteen. That's a backs
coach for the Broncos and seventeen and eighteen, and coordinator
for the Broncos in seventeen and eighteen, and the defensive
backs and pass game coordinators for the Niners. In twenty nineteen,
the Raiders retained defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. Woods, of course,

(24:46):
was the title DC under head coach Vance Joseph. With
Vance running the defense here in Denver.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Who we think this is a Raiders.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Peek inside what the Broncos are doing and hiring Joe Woods.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
You know it may be, but I'll tell you what,
this Raiders coaching staff is starting to scare me a
little bit. Man with Chim Kelly on offense, Pete Carroll
the ultimate motivator as a head coach. I mean, our
division is crazy tough when it comes to these coaches.
We got to have the most accomplished coaching tree or
coaching head coaches at least, and the coordinators of any

(25:20):
division in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Yeah, it's a pretty stagged division with regard to the coaching.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Somebody asked me last night to rank the coaches.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
I'm like, I guess it depends on what you're looking at,
because i you're ranking to buy resume and hardware.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Sean Pate might be last, which is crazy and that
is insane, you know.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
Like, So that's one of those things that with all
the national championships and Super Bowls and everything else.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
It is a rough, rough division.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
By the way, One more stat on Saquon Barkley.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Ryan just sent me this.

Speaker 4 (25:46):
Saquon Barkley, as I said, the fifty fourth player to
score twenty tds from scrimmage in a season, including the playoffs.
Of those fifty four, he is the only one who
has ever averaged his touchdown length more than thirty yards,
with thirty two point five yards average length of touchdown.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
But it is absurd. That is an Obscene's just insane.
That is ridiculus.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
I mean, it also means he's never getting the goal
line carries. Those are all going to jail hurts.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Imagine how many touchdowns he would have happened that section.
It's one of those guys. Imagine if he was the
goal line guy. On top of it all, absolutely ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
Spy the Eagles multiple players dealing with illness ahead of
the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Multiple players.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson told the Philly inquir he
knew a four or five guys or battling illness and
so going around the team since they left for New Orleans.
If that'sive tackled Jalen Carter was listed as limited in
practice and missed media availability because of it. Quiniam Mitchell
also has laryngitis. The word on the names of the
other players who are sick. The Eagles defensive quardator Vic
Fangio told NBC Sports Philly that an illness is going

(26:46):
around through some of the team. Despite that, Eagles players
and coaches have indicated that no one is sick enough
there in jeopardy of missing the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Does this change anything in terms of your outlook?

Speaker 3 (26:55):
With four or five players on the Philadelphia Eagles, including
two starters here dealing.

Speaker 4 (26:59):
With ades, well, I was going to say, just those
two names you mentioned are huge pieces for what the
Eagles do on defense. Jalen Carter has just been dominant
when he wants to be this year. In Quinnon Mitchell,
someone who you were high on coming out of the
draft this past year, has been an absolutely absolute stud
in that secondary. So, yeah, that does. That does make
me a little nervous if this starts to linger into Saturday.

(27:23):
I mean, there's that's that's actually a game changer. So
who knows how it's going to play out. Hopefully everyone's healthy,
because you want to see everyone at their best in
the big game. But this worries me a little bit.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
Glad it does, it'll be it'll be fascinating to sort
of see how that plays out.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Six, you know.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Eagles running back Saikawon Barkleer suggested the Giants as a
landing spot for impending free agent quarterback Jamis Winston earlier
this week. Winston shared some what he's looking for during
a visit with Pro Football Talk Live down there in
New Orleans earlier today. Winston started seven games the Browns
after Deshaun Watson's torn achilles, who thirteen interceptions, but the
Brown's only won twice at A big part of the

(27:59):
reason was Listin's career long issue with interceptions. He threw
twelve of them and set on Thursdays hoping for another
chance to show that he's able to take better care
of the football, saying quote, I'm praying for another opportunity
to sling that pill and prove to these owners and
head coaches that I could be a trustworthy quarterback. I
think that's the only thing that I haven't proven since
I've been in this league.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
I've had the.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
Numbers in terms of statistics, but man, I haven't won
enough games. Winston says preference would be to be the
main man, but a team of a quarterback need like
the Giants, could have designs on drafting one early in April.
The wide receiver Elite Neighbors said this week he'd like
to see the team out a vet to act as
a mentor. If that's the case and Winston set a
bridge quarterback role, would have to appeal because he'd have
a chance to play for some part of the year.

(28:39):
Expecting Winston suddenly play turnover free football feels like a
bad vet, but positives he bring could be enough for
a team to make him part of their plans under center.
Come this fall, and we think about Jameis Winston potentially
being a starter in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (28:52):
Well, like he said, if the Lord can deliver him
from those picks sixes, maybe he's got another chance of
being a starter. I will say this. I have a
good buddy that I just recently went skiing with in
Salt Lake City and we were talking about how entertaining
Jameis Winston was at least to watch play. And I
will tell you what the sound bites and just the

(29:12):
way he does sling the pill around it is great
to watch, but the amount of turnovers. I mean, at best,
I could see him being a bridge quarterback. But I
would love to see him reunited with Sean Payton as
bo Nick's back up here in Denver.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
Oh, Jo Joey Toby, I can't. I can't touch that.
I'm just living for those pregames because the handle a cring.
Oh maybe behind the board.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
I would have so much fun sound to work with
all season long.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
So that's what I'm rooting for.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
But I do love Jamison whenever he's done playing football.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
He certainly got a career in media.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Yeah, Winston was six and four as a starter under
Sean Payton, the only time he's had a winning record
in his career twenty touchdowns to eleven interceptions over the
course of ten games started in that span. This season,
he went to win four with Cleveland, thirteen touchdowns, twelve interceptions,
including that big night we saw obviously here in Denver.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
In the loss, Yeah, it counted for seven touchdowns. I
think in that game that was an absurd number whatever
for us. Yet, wellie, there it is little seventh deal
here on the NFL six pack. Ben Johnson, no surprise,
one assistant Coach of the Year at the NFL Honors.
Obviously now head coach of the Bears, but Johnson's the
first Lions assistant to win the award.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
That award began only in twenty fourteen, so it has
not been around long. It's on its eleventh season. He
received three hundred and sixty four points twenty nine to
fifty first place votes. Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores was
second with one hundred and forty three points and three
first place votes.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Lions defensive coordator Aaron Glenn had six first place votes.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
Eagles defensive coordator Vic Fangio three defensive had three votes.
Bill's offensive coordator Joe Brady two, Bucks offensive coardator Liam
Cohen two, Chiefs defensive coordator Steves fag Noolo two. Raven's
offensive coordinator Todd Munckett had won. Commanders off Its coordinator
Cliff Kingsbury had won. Vince Joseph did not receive any
first place votes for Assistant Coach of the Year, which

(31:07):
I find to be fascinating because I would have thought
he would have got some.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
You know, no one's going to remember the amount of
votes that Liam Cohen got, but They're always going.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
To remember this dude all.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Oh, so like it was still like, oh, it was
so practicing.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
He's getting better. I saw another clip of him rightly
and Grant, I've got a little something for you.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
What's that.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has one Comeback Player of the Year.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
That's my quarterback right there, baby.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
He did have an amazing year.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
You know, it was sad that it was kind of
all for not with missing the playoffs, but I am
excited about their future. And he did say today on
Radio Row that he is willing to restructure his contract
to try and keep t Higgins, Hendrickson and Jamar Chase
all happy and with the team.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
Well, we'll see if they're able to pull that off.
Er or receive three hundred seventy votes, one to fifty
first place votes.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
Second place was JK. Dobbins.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
We had three first place votes. Third place was Sam Darnold.
Although he had eight first place votes, he did not
receive as many second.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
And third place votes on the sheet.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
Build safety Demor Hamlin and Patriots' corner Christian Gonzales rounded
out the list. It's the second time Burrow's one Comeback
Player of the Year award he wanted after returning from
a towny clback in twenty twenty one. He is also
a finalist for MVP, but not expected to win, obviously,
as the Bengals fell short there in the postseason.

Speaker 4 (32:30):
Yeah, and we're hoping for a faster start next year
and winning some of those games that they lost this year,
especially at that one at the beginning of the year
of the Patriots. And it's always a tough one to swallow.
But I'm excited for the future of Joe Burrow and
as I've said many times on this program, the championship
window is his whole career. So I was shocked that Sam.

(32:50):
I thought Sam Donald was going to win it. But
I guess they're just giving Joe Burrow that award because
they know he's not going to win MVP.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
But I thought Sam Donald, man, he was so depressive.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
I know he struggled a little bit down the stretch,
but I thought I thought that was his award to
win this year.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
Yeah, I need to mend something earlier.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
I said two thousand and two on Champ Bailey for
Defensive Player of the Year. It was actually two thousand
and six when he was that when he had the
ten interception season.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
So my own notes here in front of me were wrong,
So make up on that. I'm sure someone on the
text line was quick to point that Brian did, although
he had the year wrong as well.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Oh good, and I feel is bad Wait a minute
that day, because as soon as I'm saying it was
like this, that right two two?

Speaker 2 (33:32):
That can't be right, but yeah it is. You just
blows the cots.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
The thing though, with PS two, you know, people are
going to look at his numbers when his career is
over and he's not going to have as many interceptions
as some of the greats like Champ Bailey because people
are just going to stop throwing in his direction.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
Yeah, and that's you know, that's something that a lot
of the greats have dealt with. Deon Sanders had that
when he was playing. You know, people just quit throwing
to his side, you know, and that and that kind
of stuff. So sometimes the numbers, like we were saying earlier,
we first talked about that the numbers don't add up
in the sense that.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
The statistical accomplishment.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
But sometimes it's not about what you accomplished statistically, it's
about what you kept others from accomplishing statistically, and certainly
that's that's looks like that's been the case for PS two.

Speaker 4 (34:18):
Yeah, I think that's the war this year. Even more
true on the defensive side of the ball, you know.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (34:24):
Bill Belichick, by the way, I don't know if you
guys are seeing this on social media, getting absolutely roasted
by Snoop Dogg for showing.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Up to the NFL Honors with his twenty four year
old girlfriend. I say, roast me all you want.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
If I'm Bill Belichick, I'm still going home to that
twenty four year old girlfriend.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
We just picture them les on after this
