Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome into it, Broncos Country Today. Benjamin Olbright, Grant Smith
here with you. I see Jody Jordan back there. He
looks like he's got delicious food that's gonna wreck my diet.
He brought in all this next. I know you wait
to tell he was on a diet. They was like,
you know what, now it's safe to bring it all in.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
I get it. I understand, Jody, I get it. I
get it.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Five six six nine zeros and text libic show tonaight.
Vity bettedto going to join us six thirty zach Seeger
seven O five.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Jody's actually I can do this. You come on the
we go v.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Like.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
I just get to stare at that all night, Vity.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Bettedeto six thirty zach Seeger sevinal five Richter Rousters from
the Hall of Fame. It ain't oh five, that's gonna
be a fantastic thing. Our good buddy Ryan Michael made
that happen. I get a chance to ask him. So
if you got any questions about how the Hall of
Fame operates things like that, we're gonna get those into him.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Here.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
It a litle bit.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
I'm glad you knew how to pronounce his name, because
as I was typing it out on the rundown, I
was like, I'm gonna have to ask him when we
bring him on.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
He first asked his silent I said, sure, silent s
it's a soft jay. Yeah, of course you got the
NFL's expectable.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Later, Patson tann last night Defensive Player of the Year.
That happened while we were on the air. Patser Tank
getting Defensive Player of the Year not really a surprised
if you look at the betting market odds over the
course of the last I don't know, two weeks, three
weeks in the season and then on into into the playoffs. There,
so tam well deserving. You go back and you look

(01:25):
at some of these other awards from the NFL Honors,
and Jaydon Daniels got Offensive Rookie of the Year forty
nine to fifty first place votes. The lone non first
place vote was Sam Monson, the same guy who, if
you guys remember, wrote that disastrous ESPN article about fifteen
years ago trying to get Tom Brady to retire.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
You remember that it was all over the news at
the time.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
You know, Tom Brady needs to retire, He's lost his stuff.
He's lost some office fastball and quite possibly one of
the coldest takes of all time. What an idiot, Oh,
what a loser. I'm Austin voted for brock Bowers, which
you know, I mean there's a case, I guess, but.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Bowers came in second.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Interestingly, Monson left Botex completely off his ballot and had
Joe Alt third, Bucky Irving and Brian Thomas four and five.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
Well, I almost just played the drop again, Like, what
is wrong with this guy?

Speaker 5 (02:24):
He hates me personally so he has to take it
out on the Bronco. Yes, I don't know. I don't
know why he hates me. First, I've never done anything
to Sam Monson. I don't know, you know, I've never
other other than make fun of him for the Tom
Brady article. But like, I've never done anything to him.
He's a British guy. He's not He's not the American,
He's British guy.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
He usually he does the podcast with the Steve Pelozolo
that used to be a Pro Football Focus. Now I
think they're with thirty thirteen, which is you know, it's
entertaining on anything against Sam Monson.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
He was at the airport flying out a boat bield
the same time. I was you guys didn't have a
beer together, and you know.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
I offered him one of my chicken fingers, and he
ignored it.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
It would have been fishing chick.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Maybe maybe maybe I should have That's what I should
have done to try to acclimate him.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
We've got a lot of stuff going on. One of
the things that.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
We do, we'll get to parts of this throughout the show.
One of the things they do around here is for
the Super Bowl, I solicit a prop bet from twenty people.
This year it's eighteen because two didn't get back to me.
So this year's is an eighteen leg and it's it.
And I turned it into a parlay or a Super
Bowl parlay, and then around here we can I put

(03:28):
a hundred bucks on it, and if it cashes the
way if this one cashes, will make one hundred fifty
thousand dollars, and if we win, then we'll I'll divvy
it up, you know, but from everybody for their props
and all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
So but if it doesn't hit, then we get to
RaSE the people who.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Messed it up for us, and you know, and that's
that's always fun.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
I'm feeling pretty confident in my leg.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Well, we'll go as I say, We're gonna go over
I'll go over all the legs and we'll tell well,
have you guys tell us what you think, if if
this is feasible, if this is doable or not, what
our weak points are on this kind of thing, and
if you guys have some better props or or anything
like that out there.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
I certainly love to love to hear them.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
I want to get to We'll get to the Arizona
Cardinals stuff a little bit later as well. Did you
watch Dabody watch the NFL Honors last night?

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Snoop Dogg hosting. It's gonna work on the comedic timing
a little bit, but I thought he did a pretty
good job.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
But overall, well I'm just saying, like his timing like
it's not he's not a comedian, And you know that
like the timing on the bra and the Bill Belichick joke,
we have that one. The timing on the Bill Belichick joke,
like with the punchline was a little off, like you
don't have to throw in the you know, I forgot
that you like just let it linger for a second.

Speaker 6 (04:32):
And then hit the punchline, I remember back when the
Cowboys was good. I remember back when the Chiefs was bad,
and I remember.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
What was it? Bill Belichick's girlfriend wasn't even born yet. Yeah,
I would have gone a little bit different with the
writing of that joke.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Like the punchline for me is, you know, Cowboys were good,
Chies were bad, and Bill Belichick's girlfriend doesn't remember any
of it because she wasn't born yet.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
That would have been better. She had roast my guy
Joe Burrow pretty well.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Do you did that one? Did you get that one
or not?

Speaker 6 (05:06):
Joe bart a tumbler batmobile for two point nine million
dollars day falling.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
I mean it has everything, jet of potion, grappling hooks, spikes.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
I guess he wanted one thing in life to have
a good defense.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Whoa look here, man, man, I enjoyed that. Okay, that
was that was coming in hot then, you know, I
mean the h of course.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
The talk of the evening, of course, was Bill Belichick
showing up with his twenty four year old girlfriend h
and wearing all eight Super Bowl rings as a as
a flex in every photo, not on everybody. That's I mean,
that's as big a flex as that pilot from earlier
today that flew over the US border and drew a
Canadian maple leaf with his route.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
I did not. Is that real?

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, it's real. He did that earlier today. He created
a maple leaf. The bigger flex was that e didn't crash.

Speaker 7 (06:03):
But I mean it's you know, Oh yeah, is that one.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
Other one I really liked? And this has some Colorado ties.
He was talking about finding those inner excellence, you know,
with the AJ Brown story from a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Oh hello, welcome back to the show.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
I was just taking a minute to reconnect with my
inner excellence, like my.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Boy AJ Brown.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
See, we're all about literature here at NFL honors. A
lot of players in the crowd tonight reading books.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
That inspired them.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
But League Neighbors is reading Keishawn Johnson's book, Hey, Malie,
what's the name of that book?

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Just give me the damn ball.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Josh Allen is reading Jim Kelly's autobiography Armed and Dangerous,
great reading. And Coach Prime is of course reading his
own book.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
I liked that one.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
But on the one side, it's Coach Prime's ego. On
the other side, it's that he didn't write that book.

Speaker 6 (07:12):
You know what, I'm coach Bryan, and i'd instead of
when I said it, okay, fair enough, I believe him.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Uh So anyway, we got a big show to night five,
six six nine. Here's a text line, you guys want
to get involved in the conversation. Everybody was buzzing about
Certan getting the Defensive Player of the Year, nod.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
A lot of.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Broncos out there videos congratulating hi. Von Miller out there
putting a putting a video together, congratulating him. Sean Payton,
who was down there and she was down in New Orleans, uh,
you know, congratulating him. Everybody, everybody getting coming together around that.
And I thought there was some interesting, some interesting stuff
out of Pat Certan specifically, uh pointing to really kind

(07:50):
of the turning point for the Broncos last year as
the decision to stay at the Green Bar the Greenbrier,
uh A a hotel in Westfrondi on the East Coast
in between their Tampa Bay and New York Jets games
on the East Coast last year, the decision to stay
there is a turning point in the season. Obviously, Sean Payton,

(08:11):
very familiar with the Greenbrier, he moved to Orleans Saints
camp there to West Virginia for reasons back when he
was a head coach, and so he's familiar with that already.
Broncos of course went out there, stayed out there for
in between the Bucks and Jets game, and Patterer Tayri
really said that that helped guys bond. You know, at
the end of the day, you weren't going home to

(08:34):
your families, your friends and getting away from the team environment.
You were kind of forced to be in that team
environment for a couple of weeks and at Bonds, guys
you're sitting even if you're just sitting around playing cards,
like you just grow closer, get closer together. And that
was a moment that they felt like really helped turn
the season around.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, and I think that's pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
You know, when you do have no other option, you
don't have that escape from the guys on the team,
you do get closer.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
And I think that was very evident.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
With the way they talked about each other throughout the
season and.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
The way they came together down the stretch.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
So credit to Sean Payton for making them do that
for whatever reasons, as you mentioned, But I think it
really did help them grow together, and I think that's
a very underrated value, especially in professional sports. You know,
you hear about it all the time at lower levels
about you know, this is a close team, but I
think it's very undervalued at the professional level.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
And this team did seem very close. And I hope
they can keep most of it together going into next year. Yeah,
and we will.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
We will see looking forward to seeing what they do
this offseason in terms of continuing to try to build
this thing out and see, you know, where it can
go from here. I think the I think, you know,
this year was about building up bo Nicks and the
fact that we happened to make to the playoffs was
was gravy on the on the.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Side this year. I think.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
I mean, I think you if you're a Broncos fans,
you're expecting a return trip to the playoffs and probably
a playoff win, right, I mean you're expecting them to
build off of that. Anything less than that would be
a bit of a disappointment. And so that's gonna be interesting.
You got a tougher division now with Pete Carroll going
to the Raiders, the staf that they've put together there
as Grant talked about last night.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
It's pretty pretty tough.

Speaker 8 (10:05):
You know.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
I'm looking.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
I'm kind of interested to see what the Raiders becoming
of this because this is the first coaching staff higher
I think that they've made since John Gruden won the
original John Gruden tenure that I've I've been like, oh, okay,
all right when it comes to the Raiders.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
And you know, you're getting a reinvigorated Pete Carroll he
felt like he got the shaft in Seattle, which he
pretty much did.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
I mean he did, but you know, I mean and
disrespected too.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
You know, when it comes to you know, look look
at what I've done, look at my resume, and you
guys are sitting here thinking, you know that I'm too
old to do this. You know, I get that there
are days in our jobs and whatever that we all
feel that we're too old for it at times. You know,
here I've gone, for I've gone from being mel Gibson
with fantastic hair to being Danny Glover where I'm too

(10:52):
old for this mess.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
So hey that that hair Restorations on its way.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Many By the way, shouts to Rick Lewis last night
for joining us. Uh Rick comes on and talks about
hyaluronic acid and nobody like, I promise you.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
I've had more text.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Messages, emails, direct messages, tweets, uh, people trying to hit
me up on Instagram like what was Rick talking about
the supplement?

Speaker 2 (11:14):
What was the what was he talking like? Like?

Speaker 4 (11:16):
Yeah, guy responded to so many texts last night, like
how do you spell that? Guys?

Speaker 2 (11:21):
I I promise we're all the same all. It just
it goes back to how.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
I will concerned we all are about the uh, you know,
the hair, like dudes, we we uh, we are concerned
about the hair. And it was it's pretty funny to
see to see how many people were do that. I
I went ahead and researched and got myself some today
as well. We're gonna see how it works out. We'll
see if I, you know, who knows, I might have
a thick, lustrous croff the next time you all see
me out there in public.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
I won't hold my breath. I mean stuff.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
It mostly works like I went I went through, like
I went down the rabbit hole, you know, just to
make sure there wasn't someone off some guy claimant no
it did.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
This works well?

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Rick to it personally yeah, Rick, Rick was correct because
there were people that were complaining about the eyebrows and
things like that, and I'm like, you know what, I'd
rather have to sculpt than you know, fill in.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Like we said last night, maybe you'll finally be able
to grow nice beard. There you go. That's that's you know,
who knows that's on the right side.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
That's that's We'll go for them. We've got Vini Benedetto
coming up here in just a little bit. We'll talk
a little bit about the Denver Nuggets with him Nuggets
standing pad at the trade deadline, And.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
I think that was the smart move.

Speaker 7 (12:26):
I mean, at the end of the day, if you
weren't going to go out and make a mega move,
I don't think you need to move pieces around the
board just to move pieces around the board, give it
one more chance with this with this thing, and then
blow it up.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
You can't.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
You're really kind of hamstrung a little bit by you know,
the Jabal Murray contract and everything else. That stuff that
you can't do until after this season. So, you know,
I think that if you're going to if you were
going to do something, you either needed to blow it
up or you needed to keep it the same. There
wasn't a we needed to change a few things around here,
and you know, to be honest with you, they did

(13:02):
dangle Nause and sarg at the deadline to couldn't get
any takers on that. But to be honest with you,
I mean, the team has kind of been thriving of late.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
You know. Yeah, it's really sort of been a little
mini streak here, but you started to see.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Things come together, uh in different ways, and so you know,
I'm hoping that maybe this is just one of those
things where they just kind of need to get reinvigorated.
You know, this is a team that needed to, uh
to get its identity or its feedback under it, whatever
the case may be. And uh, of course you'll be
taking on Phoenix the Suns on Saturday in Phoenix. But yeah,

(13:41):
it's it's been i mean five straight where you you
want at Philadelphia, you want at Charlotte.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
You took back to back against New Orleans.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
I mean that's fairly easy, and then you got you
got Orlando, and that was fairly easy.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
But I mean, they're they're they're putting teams.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Away and all of a sudden, the records start to
look better. And better as they as they get rolling
and move along. And I think experimenting around and fighting
the right lineups, whether it was Gordon coming off the bench,
or you know, Christian get moved over to the three
at times, or whatever we get Westbrook into the starting lineup.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
I think as they tinker around with this thing, they're
starting to.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Find better and better what the roles are that work
best for these guys.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
And I think that that was a great point you
made right right there at the end, was putting teams away.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
They're not.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
They're not, you know, in close games with these bad teams.
What they have been throughout most of the beginning of
this season. They are dominating the teams that they're supposed
to dominate. And you made another great point saying that
they've been reinvigorated. It certainly seems like I got a
great clip from Michael Porter Junior.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
I'll play coming up here when we have Vinie on.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
But it seems like he's reinvigorated because they he knows
he's here to stay at least for the rest of
this year, and he is just on a tear man.
He said, what thirty point thirty plus point games the
last three games seventeen to threes over that stretch.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
I mean, if we can get him to.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
Play just as a twenty to twenty five point game
a night guy and get some consistency out of Jamal Murray,
that's still my only worry is what's he going to be.
But we've seen him in playoffs down the past couple
of years down the stretch, coming up big he needs to,
But I'm still worried about him a little bit.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Yeah, consistency with him porter for it.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
To his credit, is the Nuggets third leading score, second
leading rebounder on the team nineteen points sixteen excuse me,
six and a half rebounds per game. Yokich, of course,
leading the team in everything twenty nine point seven points,
twelve point seven rebounds, ten point.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Three is it is literally averaging a triple double.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
His sixteenth triple double before the fourth quarter last night.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Yeah, just an obscene. You know.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
It's one of those things like we're witnessing greatness, you know,
It's one of those things where and I lived in
Chicago after we left Kansas. The first time I lived
in Chicago for a while during the late eighties, and
you could, you know, late eighties or the nineties and
and you you were witnessing greatness at the time, and
you knew it. This is one of those things where
again we're witnessing greatness, you know. And I wonder how

(15:50):
many people take that for granted, just because of how
often Nicole Yochi Yoki is doing these kinds of things
that they take for granted.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Title your podcast, by the way, great podcast?

Speaker 1 (15:59):
Is that the greatness that he's that he's putting on
in his prime here in Denver.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
Well, and not just Nikola jokicch You know, I saw
a great post from our buddies over at d m
VR last night. You have the Heisman Trophy winner in
Colorado with Travis Hunter. You have Nathan McKinnon who won
the MVP of the National Hockey League last year. You
have Nikola Jokic, who we've been raving about here, and
then you have past ser Tan winning Defensive Player of
the Year. I mean, what a time to be a

(16:27):
Denver sports fan.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
It is. It is a special moment here in Denver. Yeah,
it is.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
There's there's a lot of things coming up, you know,
with the Broncos making the playoffs now after the after
the lengthy drought, as well, so hoping the Nuggets get
this thing on on track five in a row. Certainly
seems to be to be indicating that we'll talk a
little bit with any bit of deetto coming up. Then
we got to Zach Seekers coming up at the top
of the hour. You get a chance to talk about
the article that he put on the KABA website. He's
gonna be doing more web work, you know, more writing

(16:53):
and putt stuff up there. Get a chance to talk
to him about that, break down his thoughts on the
Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
We'll get into some of these, Like said, we.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Got an eighteen leg prop bet going around the office
here and it's funny because I feel like this is doable.
So I want to hear from you guys where you
guys think that we're we're messing up here on this thing.
But you know, who knows, Maybe we'll have a nice
little post Christmas bonus for everybody when this thing, when
this thing cash is.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Brought to country tonight. Got Vini beddetto when we come
back right here on KA.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Michael Porter Junior, Stanley Ovation here, Paul Arena, why not
fabulous game, MPJ.

Speaker 9 (17:29):
You know not that I had ultimate confidence that I
wasn't going to get moved.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
I just didn't.

Speaker 9 (17:33):
I wasn't really, that wasn't where my mind was. I
just try to do what I can do every day
to be available and to play. And you know, I
can't control whether I get traded in now, So that
was never something I was stressed about. But it is
nice to be somewhere where you're wanted, you know, and
to know that you know, our coach is saying that,

(17:55):
our GM is saying that, I know things can change
quick in this league, and you got to win, and
you got to but it is good, too, good to
know that you're wanted somewhere.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Run right off the hotlight to bring on Vinni Benedetto
from the Denver Gazette.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Any How you doing the.

Speaker 8 (18:08):
Sevening Doing really well, Benjamin, Thanks for having me on.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Nuggets on the five game win streak,
and it looks like there maybe maybe they started.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
To figure something out over the course of the last
ten games. Is they've been tinkering with the lineup a
little bit, uh putting it together. It's it starts to
look like this team is starting to kind of hit
on all cylinders. Is that your interpretation of what you've
seen over the last ten.

Speaker 8 (18:33):
Yeah, I mean the the Owen three starts of that
road trip was pretty tough, and the two wins that
did pick up on that road trip weren't terribly convincing,
you know, with some defensive question being raised there. But yeah,
he's last five, you know, against weaker opponents. I think

(18:53):
it is important to see this Nuggets team kind of
take care of fitness because you know, that has been
an issue for this squad. We're good chunk of this
season is being able to beat the teams UH they
should be without much issue.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
It's it's been fascinating the reason that they lose.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
I mean, the Nuggets are the number three scoring team
in the in the NBA first and field goal percentage fourth,
for three point percentage fifth and boards. They're struggling to
defend and for a Michael Malone coach team, that seems bizarre.

Speaker 8 (19:24):
Yeah, the three point the three point line has been
the big issue for them defensively. It's it's, you know,
that was what a lot of a team like Chicago,
which is you know, another team that that the Nuggets
should beat, uh pretty handedly, but they just they lost
the mass battle and gave up. You know, I think
Chicago attempted you know, so are north of forty five

(19:46):
maybe even fifty threes in that game. So yeah, not
not typical to see if Michael Malone coach team so
like this defensively, But I do also think it might
be a by product of this team kind of thinking
back to last season and you know, uh, they were
conflicting reports whether or not they felt like they ran

(20:08):
out of gas in that and towards the end of
that second round series against Minnesota. So maybe maybe a
little bit of it is just protecting themselves from a
from an energy standpoint, And it is also a tough
time of the year on the the NBA schedule, when
you're dis closed to the All Star breaks. They kind
of keep it going consistently.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
Tommy, a bit a bit.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Of dead o from the Denver is that offensively the
week league has sort of been Jamal Murray. I mean
he's averaging, he's second on the team in points per game,
but the efficiency hasn't been there. I mean he's forty
six percent from the field, Uh from downtown.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Those are Unjabal like numbers. They are.

Speaker 8 (20:51):
I think the one thing that was encouraging it was
one of those Pelicans games. He only took seven shots,
and he it looked like he was, you know, intent
to set up Michael Porter Junior, who you know, having
one of the better stretches of his career. So yeah,
you know, it was a really inconsistent early season for Jamal.

(21:12):
I think there were some really really encouraging signs in
the first few weeks of January, and now he's dealing
with the knee information again, so I think probably the
most important thing for him is to, you know, just
make sure he's right physically. You know, hopefully he can
he can check that box, you know, over the All

(21:36):
Star break at least if nothing else.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
Hey, Vinnie Grant here. And it seems like I was
someone who was skeptical of bringing in Russell Westbrook in
the offseason, but he's kind of picked up some of
that slack that Jamal hasn't been playing as well. But
that connection between Russell and Joker Man has been something
special to watch this year. Michael Malone went so far
to say that it's the best two man connection in
the game a couple of weeks ago. Well, what are

(22:00):
your thoughts on how he's fit into this roster? And
specifically his connection with Nikola.

Speaker 8 (22:05):
Yeah, it's been uh, you know, you're not You're not alone.
And the surprised that I don't think, you know, if
you were to ask me over the summer or you know,
September October what i've you know, I certainly would not
have told you it would have gone as well as
it has been going. And I think they are kind
of you know, it might sound funny, but like hindred

(22:26):
spirits at least on the basketball court in terms of
the way they watch the player or their ideal version
of basketball. So I think they do have just like
a very natural understanding of the other and you know,
how how they approach the game. And I think that's
been a really big part of them kind of establishing

(22:47):
that chemistry, you know, significantly ahead of schedule.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Talk have a bit bit of a do from the
Denver Is that you mentioned. We talked a little bit
about Portler porter juter Beetle on that run. He really
has been and it's it's been phenomenal to watch. And
we out with that suad about him not ultimately being traded.
This team as is looks like it's for better or worse,
going to be the way that they you know, they
push all their chips in for the rest of this year.
Obviously with the trade deadline having coming go up, what

(23:11):
can they do to improve because I do worry about
even though you've got what eight eight guys that are
getting twenty plus minutes a game, I do worry about
Nicola wear down late without having somebody reliable back there
to give him, to give us some minutes. And DeAndre
Jordan isn't that And sorry, it's has been miserably bad
most of the season, to the point where they were
dangling him and nobody wanted him as trade Basicnolgy kind

(23:32):
of the same thing. What can they do to alleviate
some of the minutes on Nikolaokic?

Speaker 8 (23:40):
Yeah, I mean, like a from a roster construction point
of view, they could, you know, they could wait a
player and they could sign somebody on the buy out
market who is making I think it's the number under
twelve point eight million on their original contract this season.
I don't axtect that, just to be clear. So beyond that,

(24:03):
I think that's where it becomes really important that they
get Aaron Gorton healthy, just because for most of the playoffs,
the last couple of years, you know, in the meaningful
minute and in the close games, they have used Aaron
Gordon as the backup side there. And you know, Michael
Malone said, I think earlier this week that the the
caf INJ injury that that Aaron is dealing with is

(24:26):
something they're going to have to navigate all season. So
that to me is kind of concerning from a standpoint
of is he going to be physically up for you know,
battling in the post against you know, true centers, especially
some of these Western Conference teams that got bigger at
the trade deadline. So between the buyout market, which I
really don't expect, and Aaron Gorton getting right, you know,

(24:50):
I think Aaron Gorton getting healthy is probably the most
important thing for this Nuggets team as it relates to
making sure Nikola Yokic's burden is not too significant.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Last last week and.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
For me here, there were a couple of major moves
before the deadline. I think the Luca trade that shocked
everybody to the to the Lakers obviously he had the
Spurs uh making the move as well, which which team
substantially improved themselves in the West.

Speaker 8 (25:16):
I mean the Lakers are the easy answer for these
Uh you know, not only did they get Luka Doncic,
but they they released Dallas to such an extent that
they still had the ability to go out and get
Mark Williams from Charlotte, who you know, admittedly is not
the biggest, splashiest name out there, but uh he is

(25:37):
seven foot two and you know, a young player. So
before they went out and got Mark Williams, I thought,
you know, obviously you had a guy like Luka Doncic
whenever you can, but they had absolutely nothing inside from
Nikola Jokic. They still don't have much insight from Nikola Jokic,
but you know, uh, mark seven foot tall Mark Williams

(25:58):
is certainly better than nothing on that front. So I think,
you know, La is a clear winner of the deadline
in the West. And then I also think, you know,
it was a terrible trade, but Dallas was also able
to get Anthony David and retain their two big men
in Daniel Gafford and Derek Lively. So I wouldn't be

(26:18):
shocked if there was a Dallas Denver playoff matchup if
the Mavericks kind of did some copycat stuff and used
a very similar defensive scheme to it what the Nuggets
saw against Minnesota last year in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (26:32):

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Do we have a release date on a new episode?
You got the Kenn Salomon on last week? Do we
have to release a.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
New episode this Wednesday? Okay, I will let you know
who it is. Wester guest. Now, this is a Benjamin
Albright Mystery Guest week. I'm here for it. I love
mystery guests.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
Five six six pound zero is the text line I
want to get into.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
I talked about this.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
We have a thing around the office here where I
go around and I get a leg from everybody that works,
you know here at the station, or try to get
a leg from everybody that works at the station. Every
year put together this massive parlay and the only the
only catches. It has to be like a statistic accomplishment.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
I'm not having people bet on the over under, on
the the anthelom.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Or things like that.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Whether Travis Kelsey is going to propose it has to
be an on field football accomplishment.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
That's the only strings I give him of that.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
You tell me what you want to bet I I'll
go in there and buy it down or do whatever
to make it work to get this parlay together. Most
of the most used me do twenty legs. This year,
I didn't get two responders didn't get back to me
in time, so we wound up with eighteen legs. It
is one hundred dollars to win one hundred and fifty
thousand dollars. Maybe, So without further aduo, let's start rolling
through on some of these these props. The first leg

(27:59):
is Segua Barkley. Anytime touchdown, he just has to score
touch it in the bank. Feels like that Probably is
is pretty easy. The next one we got here and
I'm not gonna put names by these, but I do
have the names of who did these. The next one
was somebody put the under of sixty one and a half,
So they tease the under all the way up to
sixty one and a half. That means if the game
ends thirty one thirty or less combined points the under

(28:22):
that that we will cash and the go ahead well
and the over of thirty nine and a half, So
we get we have to get to better than twenty
twenty but less than thirty one thirty.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
And the line at least last time I checked was
forty eight and a half.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
I think, So, I think that's about right, so right,
almost right in the middle. They basically they split these two.
I understand what they were doing. They were trying to
split the difference in that they you know, they.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Run a show here, feel safe?

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Yeah, yeahway, let's see Rob Dawson, who does the news.
He put in Saquon Barkley rushing plus receiving yards at
one hundred and thirty yards plus.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
Yeah, I mean, if the Eagles have a chance to
win and he's gonna have to reach Pestes to say.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
He probably needs to pop a big one hundred and
thirty plus. I mean he averages like one fifty something,
so in.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
Every game he's had a sixty or seventy yarder in
the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
This feels like it could be one that, especially if
he pops one for a touchdown or whatever.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
That takes care of.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
He's care of so twos, but that one, that one
feels a litle shake. One hundred and thirty plus. Now
it's rushing plus receiving, it's not just rushing yards. So
but he doesn't get a lot of receiving yards. Rick
Lewis put fifteen plus Pat Mahomes rushing yards.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
Well, I like that, especially in the Super Bowl. He
always seems to have at least one big scramble.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Yep, yep, yep um. I think this one was Dave
I don't remember.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
But three plus Dallas Goddart receptions save bet on that one.
Uh six plus Travis kelce receptions.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Oh, somebody's really swinging for.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
The fences there, thinking Travis Kelsey with a lot of catches,
although I can see it with Vic Fangio's defense and
the way they play, it's a lot of bend, don't
break so underneath stuff that that tends to favor. I
would think Travis Kelsey get a lot of opportunities.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
So we'll see. But six plus that one feels little
You know.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
Ummm no, this one was actually DA two twenty five
plus Pat Mahomes passing yards.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Yeah, I like that. Uh one seventy five.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
Plus jayalt Hurts passing yards.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
Hmmm. I no, you have just like something. So that's
gonna be like writing his wheelhouse there.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
Uh eighteen plus Saquon Barkley rushing attempts.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Yep, that's about that's about his average.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Six plus Jala Hurts rushing.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Attempts definitely, okay.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
Uh forty plus Kareem Hunt rushing yards. Oh, he's been
their primary back of late in terms of that kind
of stuff.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
Yeah, but man, not Eagles defensive line.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
I mean hopefully forty yards on the ground though, Yeah,
especially if they can leave a little by committee as well.
They do well at four plus Isaiah Pacheco rushing attempts.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Yeah, that's a guarantee in my mind.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Our boss, Dave Tepper put Philadelphia Eagles money line in
the first half, so the Eagles to be winning at halftime.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
Tepper is going to ruin this parlay for us.

Speaker 4 (30:59):
I mean, we'll get well, we'll give him all degree
from the world if he costs me my cut of
one hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
I'm going to ask you should.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
Make him pay that out of pocket. You know you
should just charge send him a bill for for call
Kansas City Chiefs to win the game. They're my pick
right now. Money line, Travis Kelcey. Anytime scorer, I think
so jal it hurts anytime score.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
That one was mine, Yeah, that was yours. Yeah, I
think he's definitely getting in there. And that is all
eighteen picks.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
That is a plus one hundred and fifty thousand, eighteen
leg parlay. And I went ahead and put one hundred
dollars out of my pocket on it. And if it
wins a little bit, one hundred fifty thousand dollars and
we'll split it up between everybody who will put their
picks in.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Man, I'd get like a whole year's salary out of
that split. I don't think you make quite that little,
but it's close.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
Yeah, But you know it'd be a nice to be
a nice little, uh nice little first quarter bonus there.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
That would be great. We got a chance to get
into that one. Don't ruin. I don't ruin this for us.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
Dave Tepper, Carolina Panthers howner talking to you Roncos, Country
Nights got sax seekershen we come back.
