Speaker 1 (00:00):
We go right to the comspirit a hot line and

(00:02):
bring on Roby Bean from CBS four me. How you
doing this evening? Well?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
How you doing?

Speaker 1 (00:07):
I'm doing pretty well. Broncos hired Darren Rizzy earlier, and
we just figured we'd have someone with their own expert
knowledge of riz on to talk a little bit about it. So, uh,
with without any further Ado, what do you think of
the Broncos hiring Darren Rizzy and making him the Special
Teams and assistant head coach.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yeah, I'm just one excited that the Rizz thing is
going to become a thing, because I feel like it
has to be. But it feels like a great choice
for the Broncos, and obviously there's a connection and it
goes building onto Sean Payton. We've seen from your one
year two really forming the team into his own, and
it certainly feels fully like his team. But I think

(00:44):
Rizzy brings a pete, a lot of pieces that that
I think Sean really wants kind of complete right the
Sean Payton picture, and I think it's I think it's
a great addition. He was well thought after, and you
know he'll fit right in. You know, it's right in
the Shawn systems, so it should be easy learning Curven
and I feel like there's a lot of good pieces
in place for him to work with, and it feels

(01:04):
like a good match.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Well, speaking of pieces and things that match, I mean,
Call the Sudden had another impressive season this year. It
all depends on who you are and how you look
at it. It may change a viewpoint. But obviously there's
been a lot to talk as far as what's going
to happen what Called the Sudden? It will he be extended?
Will the team look to trade him? You got a

(01:27):
chance to really look out Call the Sudden last year
and what he's accomplished with this team. Would it be
a good idea for the team to take that direction
and trade away their premier receiver?

Speaker 2 (01:39):
You know, for me, a lot of the times, I've
felt like Courtland Sutton Bohenix was tremendous in his rookie year,
and we obviously there's no reason to not expecting to
continue to level up. But the connection that they have
built and he was in so many ways the security
blanket for Bow and you just knew he both felt
like he could throw it up and court was going
to get it and I think to Courtland's you know,

(02:01):
testament to Courtland, who has been through about seven thousand quarterbacks,
for him to finally have the stability of getting to
work continuously with a quarterback year after year, I think
you can expect more from Courtland next year. I understand
there's always the age factor. You don't have to necessarily
fine him to a significantly long deal, But I personally
would like to see Courtland stay here just primarily because

(02:23):
of the connection that he does have with Bo And
I think that that I still think it's a good
security boy, get fit for Bow unless you're going to
bring in right a premier receiver, unless you're going to
go bring in you know, see Higgins. But I think
that you can get Courtland or pretty reasonable if you
will deal as well. For me, I'm a proponent of
keeping Courtland.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Why why is that?

Speaker 1 (02:45):
I mean, you know, do you believe that he is
just that that necessary leader? Is it? Is it solely
the production or is it just you know the fact
that he's been here a long time. We don't want
to see him go.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Yeah. I think for me, it's it's first and foremost
the action with both and the connection that they've built
and the possibility of what that can look like in
year two. In the second year where there really was
that reliable connection, you felt like bo always felt like
you could always go to him. And for me, that
counts for a lot. I think he loved the idea

(03:18):
of a guy staying forever, but it's a business.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
Everybody knows, it's the really reality.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Of the business. I also so like that part is
not a huge deal for me. I think the leadership
counts for a lot. As you said, I think mature
a lot. It was really impressed with Courtland this year postgame,
his interactions with the media. There was like a few
years where he was, you know, I didn't want to
have anything to do with us, or He's really embraced

(03:42):
that captain role in so many ways and he kind
of is the older States then on a very young team.
Let's not forget this is still a very young team.
I think that veteran leadership counts for something too. And again,
Quoton doesn't break the bank, Well.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
He doesn't break the bank.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Another guy who didn't really break the bank, but he
made a name for himself. Here what the different nuggets
and that's Carmel and Anthony I just saw that Carmel
and Anthony as a finalist for the Basketball NBA Basketball
Hall of Fame. I mean, when you think about the
career that Carmel and Anthony had, not just here as

(04:17):
a different nugget, just kind of as a New York nick,
I mean, what would it mean for him if he
was able to actually get into the Basketball.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
I mean, I think that would would probably mean everything
to happen to Carmelo. You know, he's had a really
tremendous career. Obviously, there's a lot of turmoil you're in
Denver and inability certainly to bring a championship, right, But
I think when you look at his career and what
he's done, he certainly deserves a spot in the Hall
of Fame. And I think sometimes I think that would

(04:49):
do a lot for Carmelo. Like I don't know the
guy personally, but you know, it feels like that would
some guys that feels like validation more than other guys,
and g a guy feels like to me that that
would be a big validation for him and for his
career and maybe some of the things that he wasn't
able to achieve in his career, but he certainly achieved
a lot, and I would say he deserved from the

(05:10):
Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Talking with romy Bean, from the Combine invitees were revealed
and one Sanders was left off the list. Were you
surprised at all that Shiloh was which was left off
the list? And do we view that as as any
sort of snub?

Speaker 2 (05:28):
You know, I feel like you probably know better than
I right if that would be a snub or not.
I don't want to pretend to be super savvy on
who doesn't doesn't get Combined invites, So I'm being totally
totally transparent here. I thought Shiloh would get an invite,
but it's also not the most I'm not like stunned

(05:51):
should I say that he didn't necessarily get one. But again,
I feel like I might not be the right person
to talk to you because Benn, I tay, you have
a much better interesting than I have, like the credentials
of who makes it, and you know the entire college
football landscape. And I'm not going to sit here and
pretend that I know all the dbs in the college
football landscape. So I'm kind of making myself sound stupid here.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
But no, not at all, and yeah, you're gonna be
out there at the Combine. We'll be out there as well.
Here in the that was it next week?

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Yeah? Is that happened already?

Speaker 1 (06:24):
It's about that time, just saying well Romie.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
You know with that being said, I mean I saw
a video on IG today from from Coach Prime, uh
in lieu of Shallow not getting that invite to the
Combine where he was showing all the Shallow's kind of
biggest hits from the past season, and some individuals have

(06:48):
taken to Coach Prime and taking someone of a dislike saying, okay,
well why is he going through these particular efforts to
try to go out and promote his son? So I'll
ask you, I know you don't have any kids, but
just kind of put your parento hat on for a
second here.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
What would there be any reason that if you.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Were in Coach Prime situation that you wouldn't go as
far as trying to help promote your son or daughter.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
No, I mean I have no problem with it because
your coach pri has a platform, and you know, he's
got a platform, and he's got to reach and I
think most you know, I've got a cat and I
would do anything that I think most parents would say
if they had the opportunity the ability to be able
to promote their sons or their daughters. You know, especially

(07:33):
there's a lot of parents who kids didn't get invited
to combine and they don't have the ability to do that.
I think you have the ability to do that, you should,
So I personally don't have an issue with it. I
feel like Shador actually said it perfectly at the East
West Stride game when he was asked like, how do
you feel when people say you're dead too involved? And
he said, I didn't know that parents wanting the best

(07:55):
thing for their kids was a bad thing, And I
have to agree. You know, I think any parent, if
they had the opportunity and the means, we would do
the same. In the platform.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Well, I'll speaking of the to you boffs. The schedule
reveal has come out, and you know, obviously see you
starting a new era post Shad or post Travis. That
schedule looks rough for this for this team. I don't know,
maybe maybe you see a little bit differently, but as
I look at this thing, this looks like a team
that could take a massive step backwards, you know, if

(08:25):
if the offense, if the quarterback situation isn't at the
level that they think it is.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
And then that's a big question for me. I feel like, honestly,
with the schedule, like when I looked at the schedule
last year, a lot of the games I thought we're
gonna be really hard. Those teams ended up struggling mightily,
and then ones we didn't expect ended up doing really well.
Like the Big Twelve was just such koff last year.
So I'm going into it assuming the same thing this year.
We're gonna have koff again. But I think the big

(08:52):
thing does come down to two things. You said quarterback,
Which is the biggest one is you know, is Juju
gonna be ready? Or you know, are we gonna go
the other direction is the big thing. And I feel
like the other thing too, is it's undeniable. Travis Hunter
is a generational athlete. Really think two of the best
players in the nation. I'm speaking solely about Travis Hunter.

(09:14):
So when you lose your door and when you lose
Travis Hunter, your team, I don't care how dynamic anyone
else is, your team is going to look different. It's
going to look a whole lot different, So what is
the learning curve? You know, and you know is Juju
ready or were going Kayden like? I think that's going
to be a big test to see what it's like
as the O line. The O line is such an

(09:34):
interesting situation last year where there was so many different
iterations of that lineup. I don't know how many different
starting vibes there even was to count right on that lineup.
But what does that look like? There is there more
stability because I think there's going to be more reliance
on that. And the other big thing is running back.
If you've got a quarterback that maybe that well doesn't

(09:55):
have as much experience, they have got to find a
running back. We have got to find a way to
come to the run game, which we know they have,
we haven't seen. So I think this team's gonna look
a lot different and it's gonna be a big test
for Pat Schrmur and we're gonna kind of see what
they can do where it's a totally different lineup. When
you lose Travis and Luciador, you expect, you do expect

(10:16):
to step back. So now we're going to see kind
of what that looks like.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
Well, you look at the Denver Nuggets.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
I mean, this is the All Star break, and this
is where our teams try to make their move coming
out of the break. But leading up to this break,
we saw some great team basketball from the Nuggets, but
more important, we saw I mean Jamal Murray put up
a forty burger, I mean fifty burger.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
I'm sorry not.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
To take any points away from me, but how does
that change your viewpoint of the Nuggets moving forward after
the All Star Break?

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Make?

Speaker 2 (10:49):
I think it changes everything. I think Jamal Murray is
the recent games that it's like play out Jamal, Right,
that's playoff, mall. That's the guy we've seen. And the
truth is, we know like this team goes as nicolaiok goes,
but if they're going to win another championship, Jamal Murray
has to play like the Jamal Murray he played in
the twenty twenty three playoffs. When they want a championship,

(11:10):
he has to be excellent. And so the first time
this season, we're really seeing Jamal hit a stride, and
I think that changes the complete dynamic of all of
your expectations of this team. If Jamal Conson used to
play this way, this team is incredibly hard to stop.
And now you've got a little break for Aaron Gordon
to get healthy, Michael Water Junior to get healthy, and

(11:32):
all of a sudden, I think Christian Brown becomes the
X factor on the team. He is arguably being the
third best player on this team. He's playing incredibly well.
And when you look at that championship year, right, Bruce
Brown was the X factor. I think Christian Brown has
the ability to be that guy with the way he's playing.
So all of a sudden, everything's coming together. A few
weeks ago it was you know, you're feeling Now they're

(11:55):
looking if Jamal plays like this, just jokichis and you
got Christian Brown really be that X factor. I think
the team could be really really hard to stop.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
They really could. And I think the part of the
secret sauce here is the fact. I mean, you know, normally,
Michael Malone, you think of a defense more a team
that their offense is their defense. With the way they're scoring,
but I think the real X factor here they're number
one in the league and field goal percentage and number
four in rebounds. That means you're shooting the best and
when you don't get you're still one of the top
teams of getting the second chance on top of it,
and that has played very well for them one thousand percent.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
And they're just playing true team basketball. They mean, he
assists that they're averaging per game. That's the like when
you think of what is Denver KNIGHTEDS basketball, that's the
team where you've got I mean, you've got more assistan
than your opponent almost every single game. And it's that
just beautiful passing game. And you're seeing that and the
rebound and pushing in the basket. That's the one thing
that you see Michael Malon will go crazy over when

(12:48):
they lose the rebound battle. So a lot of people
with rebounds and conversiates just an effort thing, right, and
you're really seeing the effort come in. I feel it's
something in a lot of ways, feels like it's kind
of clicks for the Nuggets. Like last year they were
tired and we saw they were tired and they were
tired of being the team with the target on their back.
And then this year at the beginning, it was like
almost trying to get that fire back, and it's it

(13:10):
feels like it's back. They're like, oh, you know that
fire to win. The ship again is back, and I
think people had questioned if that was going to come back,
but you're seeing it in the rebounding as you mentioned,
and the assist and the effort all over the place,
and the offense has just has been a juggernaut lately
as well.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Yeah, it really has. About As Grant pointed out to
me a minute ago, they were tied with the Showtime Lakers,
I believe for assists number one old times that's that's
a huge number for them there.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Roly.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
We we appreciate the time as always, look forward to
seeing you out there in Indianapolis.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Hey man, you guys are the best. And you know what,
when you came back in the show, do you have
like two seconds? Yeah, when he came back in the
show and I heard Rox's voice, I have to tell
you guys this because I compulsively at the Super Bowl
texted Alan Roach and I asked him if he would
do it in come.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
But everybody, this is why, this is why you're our favorite.
This is why you're out there doing the doing the
Lord's work, trying to get you know, trying to get
Roach to do the thing I need. As a matter
of fact, we need to look at because we got
some more voice stuff. We have to have him doing
this show. I'm gonna get him to I'm gonna get
him to do something like that and we'll figure out
a way to trick him for the next super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Yes, so I did make my hook or by crook.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
One way or the other. Roman appreciated it as always.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
You guys are the best.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Absolutely, take care romy Bean from CBS. Look forward to
seeing her out there at the Combine coming up here.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
I think Ran and I are leaving a week from
Sunday to head out that way, So that'll be a
lot of fun. Good chance to do the whole Combine
radio row thing. It's it's always a blast over here.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
And also do a little ear hustling, which is usually
at these types of events.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Happened, no, So I've heard that a lot.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
Of ear hustling and situations like well.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
What's he ever do this?

Speaker 2 (14:53):
Well?

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Play right? We there's several reasons we get the exclusive.
We get exclusive what I want with George Peyton, and
that's you know, that's always uh, it's always a blast
and you know, get to talk to him and get
some answers out of him that you don't get the meeting.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
That's what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Oh, I know exactly what you're talk about. The rumor mongering.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Well, yeah, this one, this is my Christmas.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
Yeah, this is about the year everyone gets together and
the open all the spicy new rumors. Yeah, the little
water and hole they like to go to. You know,
a couple of things get passed around.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
Hey, bartender, another one over here on the table too.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Oh yeah, I'll run up to town. Yes. Can you
start the rumor that the Bengals are looking to sell
ten percent of the team so we can keep t
Higgins only two people named Grant Smith only if they
are donating the money to be able to buy it.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
I will.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
I will start that rumor just for you. I'll start
That's what I'll do, Grant. I'll start a rumor out there,
just for you. That's what I need from you. I
have no basis in fact, but I'm start, right. They
a lot of rumors, Yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Then hopefully it's force some teams, so maybe an investor
to say that I want in.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
They started making phone calls and he trying to make
make it happen.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
If those wheels turn them, that's Sam. I'm gonna make
it happen for you. Graham will make it happen. Uh,
we come back. Zach Siegers got a new article up
on koy Colorado dot Com. Get a chance to talk
about that with him. Rocos Country Night back after this.
Fran Smith back there sitting on the chair. Are you
really into the All Star Game festivities? I'm just always
ready to pounds. He's on the edge of his seat

(16:19):
right now for you who won the team Cream or
the Clear? Have no idea? Barry Barry Bonds was coaching.
I was not. I was not sure where you were
going with that.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
See after he said it, then I realized, like, oh
now I know where he's going with that.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
The Clear, I got jokes the Cream and the Clear. Yeah,
where woud you guys think I was going with that?
I don't answer that question.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
I have no idea. So I'm like, I'm not testing out.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
My mind was in the gutter. Okay, all right, fair enough,
let's go to the Kay coucherial the hotline until I
have somebody talk some sense to you too. So he
has Zax Seegers is doing, Zach, how you doing this
evening man?

Speaker 5 (16:55):
I'm doing great? I Uh that one blindsided you too.
I'm with Graham Neck here.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Wow, Okay, we're just not doing Balco jokes anymore. I
guess I've gotten old. You wrote a new article for KOE.
You've been writing articles for a new article for koy
Colorado dot com. Tell us a little bit about the
premise behind this article, then we'll get into with you. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
Well, you know, we got plenty of radio play out
of it. But we had that viral clip from last
week where Sean Dayton was talking about the team needs
and the joker position, which has kind of become a
dead horse that many people are taking the stick to.
But yeah, I just thought that was a very interesting
clip where he kind of outlined some of the team

(17:39):
needs that didn't get into some of the other ones,
and I thought it just opened a good opportunity to
kind of look over the offense. I plan on doing
one for the defense as well, but in this one,
looking over the offense and kind of ranking the positions
and kind of tearing them out into how serious each
need is. And you know, I'm in locks with you,

(18:00):
Ben where I think it'd be nice maybe if they
had a wide receiver, but it's probably not one of
the most pressing need by this team.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
Well, we look at the offensive line.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
I mean, they're one of the more expensive offensive lines
in this league and last season, over the past two season,
the Broncos haven't been able to generate balance and have.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
A prolific run attack.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
When you don't look at that, I mean, what's the
first thing you think about?

Speaker 4 (18:23):
Is it more on offensive line? Is it more on
the running backs?

Speaker 5 (18:28):
I think it's a lot more on the running back.
I think this offensive line is doing a really good
job and their talented line. You know, you can look
at the pass protection stuff, where you know the other
variable as bo Nicks, and they're at the top of
the league in that category. I actually think teams like
the Eagles or the Ravens are really interesting test cases

(18:48):
for the Denver Broncos to look at this offseason. Last year,
the Eagles and Ravens had middling run games, maybe not
quite as bad as the Broncos this year, but middling
run games and excellent, highly paid offensive lines. I guess
the Ravens wasn't highly paid, but excellent, high performing offensive lines.
They added a high end running back into the equation

(19:10):
and all of a sudden they become the two most
deadly run games in the entire NFL. I think the Broncos,
more than any other team in the league this offseason
is primed for a similar lead. I love Javonte, I
just don't think he's done the same after the knee injury.
Jalil is solid in a role, but I think it's

(19:32):
a fairly niche role. And Rodrick estimate didn't live up
to expectations, as demonstrated by the fact he was a
healthy scratch for the playoff game when it was do
or die. So I think they just have to add
a running back. Thankfully, it's a very strong running back draft,
and I think this run game should really pop in
twenty twenty times.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Looking forward to that happening. Do you think that they
should go to the draft and is there any particular
running backs in this draft? I mean, I've been I've
not been shy about the fact that I'm banging the
take for Marion Hampton. Is there anybody in this class
that jumps out of you, somebody that fits what they
want to do here?

Speaker 5 (20:05):
Man, I'm with you on a mari and Hampton Absolutely,
I think he's incredibly intriguing. Ashton gent obviously he deserves
to be the top back in this class. I think
it seems more and more likely to me now based
on recent reports that he'll be there at twenty or
maybe in the range of not overly expensive trade up.

(20:26):
So I think that's intriguing. The one that I think
is maybe the best potential fit is Travon Henderson out
of Ohio State. Just an excellent player in the past game.
If you want to talk about that joker role, I
hate to keep saying the name of it, he fits perfectly.
I think he's a great route runner. He's exceptionally strong

(20:46):
in pass protection. There's the viral e clip going around
Twitter right now where he stands up Mason Graham, who's
a defensive tackle we're going to get drafted in the
top ten. Probably stands up Mason Graham and pass protection.
One of the best passer tack team or sorry past
catching back in this class as well, really strong runner.
I like him better than Uge Judson's He's one that

(21:10):
would make a lot of sense to me. I also
like RJ. Harvey out of UCS as a bit of
a bit of a sleeper, strong vision, good burst as
a runner, and just a bit of a bowling ball
of a player, has a nice mix of power in there.
I think he'd be a plug and play, instant impact
player for the Broncos who maybe they could get on
early Day three with how strongest classes at running back.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Well, you know what, here in Broncos country, usually this
time of year, the conversation is about the quarterback position.
Fortunately the Broncos don't have to have that conversation, but
I'm gonna have it anyways. That you know why, because yes,
bowl Nicks is still the Broncos starting quarterback. And the
one thing I always think about, you always have to

(21:53):
have that safety net. And I'm not talking about a
tight end running back or a wide receiver. I'm talking
about your backup quarterback. You don't really realize you need
one until you actually need one. So, with that being said,
the direction that the Broncos should go at the number
two spot, is that an idea of trying to bring
in a young rookie with no experience, or do you

(22:15):
double dip again with either Stidham or Zach Wilson.

Speaker 5 (22:21):
I think there's probably a good chance it's the three
man room again. And I'm curious about that third piece though,
I don't think you want to do it in the
draft with the limited draft capital. Has Ben's done a
good job of pointing out it's also expensive to add
to that room in other ways, though, I think one
of the primary backups should be either here at Sidham

(22:42):
or Zach Wilson. Maybe Zach Wilson is able to coast
off the Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold hits and he's
able to get one of those borderline starter you know,
you're going to get a camp competition contracts around ten million,
which is probably too rich for the Broncos, but I

(23:05):
just I would want to get one of those two guys,
and Jared's Didham I think, you know, kept the offense
performing similarly how I was performing with Russell Wilson in
twenty twenty three, So I think you're comfortable going that route. Ultimately, though,
I think just having a room that operates well with
each other and that is very comfortable with each other

(23:26):
is first important. And it's very evident that Zach Wilson
and Jarrett will sit him and bo Nick get along
especially altogether. Michael wish you too, I guess because he
was on that cob of vacation as well. But I
think that Proof gets along really well together and I
wouldn't be looking to break it up, especially because the

(23:47):
Broncos still have a.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
Lot of CAP.

Speaker 5 (23:50):
I located to the quarterback position as a result of
the rest at CAP where I think you still want
to stage cheap there. Hopefully system remains a cheap option.
Who we probab would we trust to fill in two
three games if worse came to worse?

Speaker 1 (24:03):
Ty was Zach Siegers and the articles up on Kaycolorado
dot com. Zach, Who's that? What's the what's the one
person that if Zach Seegers was the general manager, the
one player that would be the must have for you?

Speaker 5 (24:15):
Oh Man, draft Austin Genty? Sorry, Aston Gent jumps to
mine immediately. Oh uh, you know what, I'll go with
Nickoleton from the Chiefs. I think you can. I'll put
more eg in there as well. I think the Broncos
need help at linebacker and safety. I think those are

(24:37):
positions that are probably better to solve through free agency.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
You know.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
What's important about those positions? I think so much is mental.
You know, the closer you get to the ball in
terms of I guess the spine of either the offense
or defense. I think the more important it is to
have a very high football IQ, and I think it's
very hard hard to scout that in college players and
translate it to the NFL. I think it's why Bonix

(25:06):
was quarterback six last year's draft. It's those mental elements
as and tangibles are one of the harder things to project.
They're both positions linebacker and take to that is that
I would prefer to target and free agency. Both Morrigg
and Bolton have the bonus of you're making a division
rival weaker by approaching them, and I think both are

(25:27):
plus players at their respective positions who would immediately shore
up weaknesses for the Broncos. Nick Bolton in particular, I
think is an idyllic fit, kind of in that vansosis
system where can moss up with some running backs and
tight ends and coverage and primarily is an excellent blitzer,
which I think would be a lot of fun to see.

(25:48):
Maybe you pair that up with Cody Barton and you
know that shouldn't be too expensive a room, but I
think a really solid one and would shore up one
of the weaker elements of twenty twenty for a Bronco's roster, Zach.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Last last question from me combine coming up, Ryan and
I head that there a week from Sunday. Who is
there one player you really really want to see some
workout numbers on?

Speaker 5 (26:13):
Man, I'm really curious about where Tyler Warden comes in,
just like how freaky is he? Is he that guy
that's may be worth taking in the top twenty, worth
trading up for covin dance. I think offensive line. I
doubt that Broncos go that range in the first round,
but I think that's going to be an interesting one.

(26:33):
Shamar Stewart, I think there's an interesting case. He seems
to maybe be the early spring hype bunny who's going
to fly up boards, but could also maybe make some
sense for the Broncos or twenty. I'm curious to see
if he can keep the diet building there. He should
test phenomenally, but I think it could become, you know,

(26:56):
one of these Anthea Richardson cases or one of these case.
Trim Davis, I think is another one where it's just
such a ridiculous combine showing that now all of a sudden,
talking about him in much higher utty, much higher sir
than we were before when Johnson out of Michigan. Though,
I think is probably the most important one, very very

(27:16):
talented cornerback. But the big question about him is long speed.
You know, he could hurt his stock with the time
in the four fives, low four fourth. He could really
help his stock with the time in the low four
for us.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
All right, good Zach, We appreciate it is always go
check the article out of kaw called a lot of
dot com Zach seekers appreciate you.

Speaker 5 (27:35):
Thank you very much, Bett have a good one.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Yeah you too, five six sixty nine zeros text line.
You guys want to get involved in the conversation. You know, Nick,
what do you think about the possibilities of poaching players
with inside the division as Zach talked about trayvon Borg
Bolton or either of those guys that move the needle
for you, poach, poach and poachs again.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
For me, the idea is it doesn't make a difference
where that talent comes from. The idea is that, well
that talent fits one your locker room and their locker
room culture that you're trying to build offensively, defensively, Do
they fit in with what you're trying to do well,
you have to change your scheme defensively offensively to kind
of fit that player. I don't think you need to

(28:21):
be able to have to be forced to do that entirely,
but you do have to have a sense of a
friend of mine will make you're able to make adjustments.
But being able to pull players from divisional teams or
teams within the conference, it only helps you, especially if
these are talented players who've done well with their previous teams,
that you know they can come in and help you

(28:43):
right away, but also you get a piece of the
other team's kind of mindset because if Nick Bolden came in,
and I remember when Nick Bolden first came out of
out out of college, I was hoping that he would
be one of those guys that the Broncos add to
your roster because when you look at what vance Joseph
wants his linebackers to be able to do, brough from

(29:04):
sideline to sideline, identify coverage, know where to drop, and
then also know how to play with the odds on
the quarterback. Nick Bolton definitely gives you that. But uh,
I don't know if Kansas City's gonna you know, allow
that to happen.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Yeah, I we'll have to see about that. I think
boltons at his best sideline of sideliner are coming downhill.
I don't like him going away from the ball as much.
But he is a thumper. I mean, if we've all
seen the kind of hits he can put a fact
I think Broncos country is aware of that. Isn't he
the guy that put the hit on Melvin Gordon? You
know what I'm talking about. But he fumbled, Yeah, I'm
pretty sure now he came in on touch, so it
looked a little more devastating than it was. But he's

(29:37):
been that guy. You know, he's been a thumper. Matter
of fact, Steve Atwater pointed him out back when he
was at Missouri as a guy who could hit that
would do you know? It adds some attitude back to uh,
back to this defense, and I think that's for me.
I think that skill set is a is a particular
interest because the Broncos defenses is good. Rocco's defense is good.
But I don't think we have anybody that we're saying

(29:57):
that guy's a hitter, you know what I mean. There's
no Kenoy Kennedy in this in this defense. There isn't
a you know, there isn't a uh just there isn't
just a pure hitter in the you know what I'm
talking about.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
Well, for me, it goes far beyond just someone just
being a hitter. It's like you need someone that you
if you need to drop them in coverage, they know
exactly what they're doing. Also, if you're asking them to
kind of cover back out of the backfield, they have
the speed and then know how to be able to
do that. Now you can find guys who may be

(30:30):
able to tackle a guy who may be a thumper,
but can't he do all those other things that those
things are necessary for that the guy who's playing on
a second level, who may be that green dot guy.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
And what I mean by green dot, I mean he's.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Getting all the communication from the guys in the box
in vance, Joseph. There's a lot of things that kind
of go into it. And then also being able to
tackle in space. That's a vital part of playing in
today's game because teams are gonna.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
Scheme you, They're gonna they're gonna create those matchups.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
And can you fulfill You're part of the bargain And
being able to make those plays one on one.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
Yeah, I mean, obviously you have to have the other
skill set, but I mean, I'm just saying this. The
one thing that I think that this defense maybe doesn't have.
And I know they need a you know, free safety
all that kind of stuff, but one thing that even
when it's humming, it didn't really have was somebody that
you knew was setting a tone, you know, and that
kind They just didn't have that guy. I didn't fact
they had that dude. I love what Brandon Jones brought
to the table, but they didn't have that dude this

(31:24):
past year.

Speaker 3 (31:25):
Well, sometimes if you don't have that one single dude,
then you need to, in my opinion, be that team
collectively right And for me, when I look at this
Broncos team on both sides of the ball, for me,
I would like to I would like to see the
team become a little more physical, being able to impose
your will on your opponent, because you want to get

(31:48):
to a point where other teams look across the field
in the fourth quarter, no matter what this where the
score is, where the ball is from a down and distance,
and they know that they are in the fists freaking fight.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
Yes, right.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
And for me, and it's maybe just because the players
have been around in my career, either playing or coaching around,
but I think a guy like Fred Warner in San Francisco,
I think about you know, a guy like Al Wilson, right,
These are the type of guys that I look for.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
What about the possibility of adding Drake Greenlaw? Do you
do you like that one at all? That's the name
it's been bandied about lately.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
Well, you know, there is attitude, there's some grit, there's
some physicality coming along with green Law, but there's some
other stuff that comes along as well. So you have
to ask himself if you were to add a guy
like that, And I wouldn't be opposed to it because
of his athleticism, what he brings from a physical standpoint,
But do you have the other players in the locker

(32:47):
room right that that.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
When he comes in he gives you a little energy
at what he has.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
But you also say, Okay, we're playing in the confinement
of this defense, right. But I still feel as though
this team, and when I've seen this organization from a
defensive and offensive standpoint, flourish.

Speaker 4 (33:04):
Is when they got a little edge. You you need
a couple of those players.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
You do you need a key, you need a tej
whit and you know it just doesn't feel like this
defense quite has those guys.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
No, you don't.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
And once again, it's not to say that the guys
that they carerently have they cannot be successful.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
Right And I don't need to see rather the moss
out there snatch and chains.

Speaker 4 (33:25):
I'm just no, no, no.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
If he did, you know that would that would be
quite hilarious your game up.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
But you do need.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
A couple of those players, I would say, on all
three levels of your defense. And what that means not
just a guy who's just going to do things to
just kind of hurt the defense. No, you got you
want tone centers. And that's what the Broncos need moving forward.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
Right, we do Broncos Country Night back after this
