Speaker 1 (00:00):
It all bright here with you Grat Smith back there
behind the glass. We are taking you up to Trump's
address to Congress here at the top of next hour,
the seven o'clock hour, which we will carry live here
on Kawa and then react to after the Democratic I
don't know if it's a rebuttal, but whatever they do,
(00:20):
like it's the Trump thing, then the Democrats get a response,
not a rebuttal.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Let's see there you go.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
We'll carry both those live here on ka and then
we'll be reacting to that immediately after. But we're gonna
do sports up until then. Five six, six, nine zeros.
The text line, you guys want to get involved in
the conversation.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Nidia's cut season.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
We're seeing guys get cut as teams trying to get
cap compliant as things get along. We only had two
players franchise tag deadline come to pass.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I told you it was going to be two.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
There were two.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
It was t Higgins and Trey Smith.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Those people argue with me as Sam Darnold's getting franchise
tagged look like morons. Now, I'm not pointing to any
particular Minnesota blogs that were tweeting me incessantly, but you know,
you can figure that out five six six nins. They're
always a text on taking all your questions up until then.
Want to get to some of the stuff that we
didn't get to last night. You know, we talked a
(01:11):
little bit about it during to show Me the Money.
I'm sure they talked about it during K Sports. The
the DeVante Adams getting cut by the Jets. I still
don't think that's a thing here all though several people
have sort of mentioned it just based on the money.
So we'll see. I believe that he wants to go
with Aaron Rodgers, and I believe that's what's gonna happen.
(01:33):
But he also, you know, kind of has his eye
on the West coast.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
And you said on KOA Sports at least I think
this is what I heard that you don't think the
l A.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Rams is a good fit. I don't not that it's
not a good fit. I don't think that's a real thing. Okay,
what about the Chargers that that would be if you're
gonna go, If you're talking about LA that would be
the team I think that you would look at. And
obviously putting him opposite Lad McConkie would certainly be a
fast and anyone to punch, you know there with with
(02:03):
the receivers, they still probably need another pass catching option,
but it was it was kind of amazing what Ladd
mccaukeey was able to do last year being really the
only reliable pass catching option, uh the Chargers even had.
So that was, you know, that was I look forward
to seeing them getting additional weapons for Justin Herbert in
the sense that I like seeing, you know, good football
(02:26):
players get to play.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Well because they've got good and throw too.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Not that I want to see a division opponent get
built up or anything like that. There's been rumors going
around that the Bills and Eagles might take a run
at Miles Garrett. We'll see how that goes. You know,
the Commanders seem to have the inside track on that personally,
you know, if Cleveland even moves, So we'll see. We'll
(02:50):
see how all that stuff shakes out. We got plenty
of time to you know, to get to all that
kind of stuff.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
So, man, how about the Commanders if they had Deebo
Samuel and Miles Garrett offseason? Well, Deva, I mean, like
I know, you're not high on depot, but he has a.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Need in terms of what they need because like the way.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
That that offense works, you've got to have somebody that
can get the ball in his hands on the screens
and create after the catch. And they tried a bunch
of different guys in that role last year, and Debo
is sort of built for that role. So that part
of it I get. But you know, Demo is not
a guy that you're uh that you're bringing in to
get you eighty yards a game, like. He's not that guy.
In fact, he averaged forty yards a game for his
you know. I mean, so when you bring him in,
(03:29):
you're bringing him in as a four or five maybe
six to catch a game guy. But you try to
hit him on those screens and see if he can
bust one like that.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
That's really what you're doing. And making sure that teams.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Just can't double over the top scary terry on the
other side, that's really what you try to do with that.
So you know, we'll see and then yeah, I I
you know, I think Miles Garrett and dan Quinn defense
is phenomenal, Like I think he's tailor made for that.
So we'll well, you know, we'll see, we'll see how
that works out.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Do you have any inside knowledge on if or how
dug into the stance Miles Garrett is because we were
asking Shelby about it as and of course as a
teammate of Miles Garrett. If he would actually sit out
if the Browns say we're not going to trade him
and they actually won't trade him, do you think he's
the kind of guy that would sit out to prove
his point.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
I think he's the guy that's not going to lose money.
I think he's more of a hold in than hold
out kind of guy. And I think you can make
life uncomfortable enough by doing that that you can get
people to move you.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
But I think most.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
People saw how much money Left Bell lost doing that stuff,
and that you just don't recoup it. Did. I think
that most players are savvy enough to, I understand, do
a hold in and throw a tantrum. If if the
hold in doesn't work enough, throw a tamper, throw a taper,
a tantrum. Start talking to the media every day on
your way out, tell him everything, and that'll get you
shipped out real quick. To answer the seven one nine, yeah,
(04:51):
I got to respond to the political stuff later. So
this will do Broncos Country night here for an hour,
will carry the President's addressed to Congress, the Democratic response,
and and then we'll do some some political stuff after
that time willing. So you guys can can call in
and rant and do whatever you want. Tell me, tell
me what you thought about all that. I'm looking forward
to this free agency. There's a few names out there
(05:13):
I think that the Broncos could use get a little
bit better. We saw Kansas City bring back both Reid
and Tray Smith. I think that makes Nick Bolton the
odd guy out there, and that could be one of
the guys the Broncos wind up bringing in. You know
they need. You look at the linebackers that they need,
and I get it with the Zach Bond thing, but
that's gonna cost more, and that's gonna I think that's
(05:34):
the least likely, uh, just based on what it would
take and whether or not Philly even lets him, lets
him get away in the end. You know, Bolton's guy
we talked about. He's one of those tone center type
guys you sidelined, a sideline downhill guy. Remind you a
little bit of kind of Todd Davis type linebacker. And
I think this team needs somebody like that. I know
(05:58):
we need somebody who can cover and go away from
the ball, but I also think you need somebody who
sets a tonnel in the right.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Do we have anybody? It's a blow you up?
Speaker 1 (06:07):
You know you got to avoid him kind of guy,
no sense. I mean, when's the last time we had
that with Darien Stewart and j Ward safety Kareem Jackson. Yeah,
kjack was kind of the gual that we got out
of control there. But I saw did you see Jordan
Reid's latest mock draft today? I did, and I have
not I have not looked at much in the internet
at all today. Well, good for you, but I am
(06:28):
proud of you. Ben good job stayed off the interwebs.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
But he had Nick emm and Worry drafting or getting
drafted by the Broncos at twenty And I was talking
to Ryan Edwards about this earlier today, and he's kind
of that guy that is kind of the hybrid between
a safety and a linebacker. So if you think you
bring a guy in like Nick Bolton who's great against
the run, maybe you have a package and obvious pass
downs where em and Worry is kind of your your linebacker.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Slash safety and then you have PJ.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Locke and Brandon Jones in there and not have to
worry about Bolton slide build and coverage, And that might
be the.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Way you go. Something I suggested was Bolton and Bossa.
You know, Bossa is a former safety. You've got to
move the linebacker there at Oregon, you know, Green Dot guy.
So there are there are options for the Broncos as
far as this stuff goes. It's not like this draft
that they're.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Pigeonholed in any one, you know, any.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
One thing that they've they've got to do or whatever.
I know, most of the mock drafts usually have the
tight end position. Uh mocked to the Broncos. Although I'm
not sure that both those guys, either of those those
main two guys are gonna be there, just just based
on chatter at the comb I will.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
See maybe you know, maybe you're talking about Warren and
who in Loveland.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yeah, I It's it's interesting to me because the big
four names that you would think associated with the Broncos
at twenty, I'm not sure any of those four are
gonna be there, you know, Warren, Lovelan, Janty and Hampton
or Ryan Hampton, the running backing North Carolina. I don't.
I don't think any of those four are gonna be there.
You have teams that are tight and needy, running back needy.
(08:00):
Before you got three teams that are running back needy,
multiple teams that are tight end needy, and in a
draft that doesn't have a ton of blue chip talent,
you know, and Hampton's the stocks teams to just keep
rising and rising. I do you tell it everybody? He
would be r If it wasn't for Chancey's eye popping numbers,
Hampton would eat would clear as the number one running
(08:22):
back in this class. You know, he outweighs Chant by
like fifteen pounds. He's just built thicker us. He's a
three phase of the game running back. You know, he
can catch the ball, he can run the ball. He
he's an excellent pass protector in the backfield. You know,
Sean Payton likes to rotate those guys through. But you're
(08:42):
not giving it away if you put him out there,
because he can do any of it. So it's you know,
I to me, to me, Hampton is the you know,
is the guy. But it all remains to be seen.
Who goes where You've got running back needy teams. You've
got the Raiders, you know who I've suggested might be
you know.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Chant is gone.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
You have the Cowboys who uh their offensive coordinator that
brought in. They promoter Bryan Shot humber head coach. They
brought an offensive coordinator who was the offensive line guy
for Arizona loves to run the ball. I would I
suspect that Dallas is about to re sign Michael Parsons
and then make a huge commitment to getting the run
game on offense going. And I think they feel like
(09:24):
that's gonna make their defense fresher, that's going to open
things up more for Dak and cd uh and and
I feel like the Dallas feels like that they need
to get back to what made Dallas Dallas, and that's
that's an overwhelming offensive line of pounding the football downhill.
There'sn't a big piece of that offensive line. Well, obviously
it's a retirement.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Right, But when you think about Dak and the best
years that he's had, it's when they had a strong
running game, well.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
And most quarterback. I mean, it's that's what it is.
You get them protection, you get them.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
A strong run game, and they'll make the rest of
that thing go.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
So you know, I I I was on, uh, what
is the w FA n on there in Dallas whatever
the other night and talking to one of their one
of their hosts down there, and they seemed to be
taken aback that I was pro Schottenheimer. I think most
people have been taken aback by that.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
I just I'm like if Nolan Brian Schottenheimer for years.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
I think he has a better skill set as a
head coach than he does as an offensive coordinator. I
think he I think he has it, and I think
the I think he brought the right guys in. I
think that you know, the coach that he brought in
there from Arizona. I think they're going to have a
power run game. I think Dallas is about to become
a two tight end team that runs the ball downhill.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
And say what you want about iber Fluis as a
head coach, but he's a good defensive.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Course Gago's defense wasn't a problem that except for the
Hail Mary, their defense wasn't the problem. And so you
know that's the Iberflus knows how to how to get
a defense together, and Dallas has the personnel to more
or less run what it is that he wants to run,
which has its roots in the in the Tampa too.
So you know, I think Dallas is going to be
(11:05):
a better football team than people think that that NFC East,
like the AMC West is obviously going to be good,
the NFC East might be sneaky good because you've got
the returning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, you got.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
The Washington Commanders.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
If the Giants pull off this a Rod and Adams thing,
all of a sudden, they're you know, they're event there. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
I was like, they're at least competitive, right, And.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Then you got Dallas throwing in that mix as well.
And I don't think Dallas as bad as the record
was last year. Do you think they get a deal
done with Michael Parsons any tie to you?
Speaker 2 (11:38):
I think that's what all these moves are making right
now are for.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
They paid somebody else too. Yeah, they just paid defensive tackle,
but it actually lowered as cap number three and a
half million. Oh see, I they did these stads. Yeah,
lowered his cap number.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
But I just saw the eighty dollars they gave him
and I was like, damn, they're not going to pay
Michael Parsons, but I didn't realize that lowered their captain.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Lowers their cap number. And then they're going to restructure.
They're going to redo Dax Deal a little bit to
give themselves a little bit extra juice there. So it'll
wind up it'll wind up being, you know, where they've
got enough space to be able to get this Parsons
thing done. And then, like I said, I think they're
just going to invest in becoming a power run football team,
(12:16):
and I think they want to be able to maul people.
I think you look around the division there and the
Achilles heel to dan Quinn's defense has always been running
on it. Look back at that Green Day playoff game
against Dallas. You look at Philadelphia and Vic Fangio's defense,
and it's baiting you to try to run on it.
You look at the safety depths, you look at how
they do things where they run that tight front and
(12:37):
they drop you know, they try to drop everybody back.
It's designed to have you try and run on it.
So I think Dallas is looking at this thing and
they're saying, Okay, our plan of attack for four games
out of this year that doesn't eve include the Giants
who just are kind of there. You know, if we
just go downhill on them, that's going to be our plan.
We're just going to go downhill on these teams. And
(12:59):
I think there's something to that. I think there's an
intelligence to that because in the NFL right now, everybody's
gone lighter. They've gotten lighter and faster. They're going to nickel,
you know, they're in nickel or dimes base and they're
getting lighter and faster. And if you just get heavier
and more powerful, you could push people off the ball.
And we've seen teams do it. Matter of fact, as
(13:21):
much as I hate to dredge it up, that may
be a part of the problem with the Denver Broncos
last year. Yeah, look at the times we got run
out of the out of the building. What was it,
downhill power run attacks Baltimore, Buffalo, Indy was running downhill
on us until they fumbled at football, dropped the ball
(13:42):
before the end ze John Taylor. Yeah, I mean that
thing was about to get ugly. You think a couple
of the plays in the in the Broncos season last year,
there are there are four plays where we're under five hundred. Yeah,
we'll make the player to forget flirt with the playoffs.
We're under five hundred.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
That's the craziest part about the NFL. This is how
close everything.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
So Dan doesn't how a hundred and ken yard or whatever.
Pick six, yep, Jonathan Taylor doesn't fumble the ball out
of there. Now. Conversely, you could come back and say, okay,
the block field goal, you know those kinds of things
there are you know, the Jets field goal miss so
in the field goal mistrade at the end there. That
just shows you how thin the margins are in the NFL.
Everyone's good. The Doyke from uh Cincy, you know, I mean,
(14:21):
like like bro, we got a little lucky last year too,
which was what I was saying. We weren't better, but
we were all so lucky.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
But it seemed like also in previous years we were
bad and everything was going against us, all those those
flip of the coin situations, and last year we improved
and some.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Of those things were starting to go in our favor. Yeah,
five six, six nine zeros text line. Somebody says they're
having a glass of woodfree going to watch the ninety
eight Super Bowl. AA, Matt at you, I said that
sounds like the perfect evening instead a listen to this
Trump speech? Uh, nights of it? Oh you heard anything
about little Jordan Humphrey switching positions a tight end. I
have heard a rumor about that that we'll see if
(15:00):
that comes to fruition. I don't know if that's legitimate
or serious, but I have heard a rumbling about that.
There's our joker right there. Well, who started that that rumor?
It wasn't someone who started a rumor at the com
behind me? Oh no, no, no, no, this is this is
when I say rumor here, this is sourced rumor. Okay,
So I would let you know if it's you know,
(15:23):
I would let you know if the joker was the
person writing the article. Yeah, I have heard. I have
heard rumblings about that. I want to see it before
I believe it. I'm not saying it's not true. I'm
just saying I want to see it before I believe it.
There's a lot of guys that talk about, hey, you
know what, I want to switch positions or whatever. I
can do that kind of stuff, And you know, then
you flirt around with that, it doesn't really work initially,
(15:44):
and you go right back to doing what you were doing.
So we'll see. I think that would be a fairly
smart move on little Jordan Humphrey's part. He's certainly not
getting much action in the way of being a wide
receiver other than being out there, but he's not getting
(16:07):
much thrown his way. And we've seen him when he
gets the ball in his hands, he can he can
break some tackles and make some people mess. Yeah, he's
he's made some. He's made some highlight reel you know,
catching run type stuff before. How is he as a
blocker though? What he's there for, That's what he's in
there for. Okay, Uh, he's a willing guy. I just
don't know as far as bulking up, you know, and
(16:27):
what kind of tight end you kind of make him,
because I don't know if he's he can get big
enough to be kind of that inline guy. You know,
he's got the athleticism, and I just don't know that
he's got I don't know that he's going to have
just the raw strength. I mean, it's one thing when
you're out there throwing blocks on on Paple's corners, out
there with sides, and it's another thing when you've got
(16:48):
you know, Max Crosby, Miles Garrett. Yeah, come in your way,
and you got to try to figure out a way
to reroute them get to the quarterback because you're the
you're the blocking tight end. But you think he's already
you know, he's a big guy. He's six four to
twenty five for a wide receiver. I mean, if he
can bulk up to two forty five two fifty.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Yeah, I mean putting on thirty pounds.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
I mean that's just that's a lot. Though, that's a lot.
I'm just saying, you know, we'll we'll see. I don't know,
I've been prediction. Will Denver sign one of the linebackers
Mike Cliss listed in his article linebackers he listed were
sure would Bond, Greenlaw, or Bolton. I would suggest those
would be the four targets. I'm not sure Philly Let's
bond get away. Green Law is interesting because he's more
(17:29):
an off ball guy. Surewood is. It fascinates me because I,
you know, I do think he's a good fit and
probably of the four the least expensive. But I you know,
I I just don't know the answer to that. I
think that really what it is is they're out there
looking to see what they can get done and and
go from there. I don't think that there's like this
(17:49):
is our guy, we're throwing out four names. I think
they are legitimately interested that, you know, in all four
of those, and it really is like, Okay, are any
of these guys gonna come available? What's the price point?
That kind of thing? And I think that's where that's at.
So we've talked about Bolton simply because there's a direct
comp in terms of like the you know, the Todd
Davis thing, and that he was the most likely to
(18:12):
be let go. So that's sort of, you know, it
was sort of easy to kind of talk about that
in the projection of those four.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
I'll get to one real quick here.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Someone, what do you think about this kid at Arizona State,
Cam Scattabow. A guy looks like a beast, He can
catch the ball, could be the joker. Yeah, we've talked
about Cam a few times. You know, I think the
problem with that is if you bring him on the field,
you know what you're doing. You're throwing the ball to him.
He has a slow first step. He's not you know,
people compare him to like Alstott, and I'm like, he's
(18:44):
he's like you know, fifty pounds sixty pounds lighter than Michaelstott,
you know, and he's not and he's not as fast,
you know, he's he's like thirty pounds lighter in Peyton
hillis you know. I I do think there's a role
for him in the NFL, but it's just a third
down back, kind of similar to the role smash At
p Ryan used to have. And I don't know what
he's like in pass pro and really, you know, crack
(19:05):
the tape on him. I just saw him, you know,
in a couple of games and a couple of highlights.
But I do notice it that first steps a little
bit slow, and that's a problem if you're going to
be running back in the NFL. So we gotta a break.
Broncos Country Night backing for this, all right, Benjamin Olive
Bright Gratsmith back there, taking you all the way up
to the President's address to Congress here at the top
(19:28):
of the hour. Will carry that live here on KA
as well as the Democratic response immediately following that. You know, myself,
I think I go roped ros Kaminsky and Mandy Connell
into giving us their thoughts on it. Afterwards, we'll react
to it after both those things right here on KOA
three three seven one, three eighty five eighty five, you
guys want to call in at that point, I want
to tell then we'll be Broncos country tonight instead the
(19:48):
politics country tonight. Grant's over there being thankful for the moment.
I had a couple of things come out today at stake, Wan.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
Barkley getting paid three bet on himself.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Philadelphia Eagles top ten off, got him a two year
deal a little over twenty million per And immediately after
that deal gets announced, Bill's running back James Cook is
quote tweeting every single one of these with eyeball and
mojis and all this kind of stuff. I got. I
got news for James Cook. James Cook is not getting
(20:21):
Saquon Barkley money. James Cook is not getting seventy five
percent of Saquon Barkley money, which is what he's asking
right now. And you know, Buffalo's got a number, but
they're not even close, you know, as far as that
stuff goes, it's it's it's sort of funny because you
got James Cook as a running back for Buffalo out here,
(20:41):
who's like the second and don't get me wrong. James
Cook's a good running back, but James Cook views James
Cook in a.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Stratosphere that he does not belong in.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
It is over there badgering Buffalo for fifteen million dollars
a year as a running back, which is an absurd number.
He's not gonna get, and he's, God, what's gonna happen.
He's gonna wind up, get pushed out into free agency,
wind up with a team that doesn't have the fact
on running back quarterback like Josh Allen, and find out
what it's like to be to have linebackers keying in
(21:13):
on you instead of spying the quarterback, and have a
one guy come one on one with you. It's uh,
you know, there's there's something to be said for being
on a great football team and getting paid but knowing
your value. And I feel like James Cook is sort
of struggling with that five six, six, nine zeros of
(21:33):
text like nine on nine sers. Thanks guys. I know
you do draft predictions, but we do the same for
free agency in Denver? Do you know enough? Being the
insider you are, who they'll likely sign, who we as
fans should be excited about. We've talked about potential targets
here before. We've talked about that on this show. I
(21:56):
think Juwan Johnson, the tight end. Sean paid very familiar
with him with their tying together in the Saints. That
feels like one that would be safe to put in pencil.
We think they're going to go out there and have
a little bit of a spend at the linebacker position.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Wouldn't be surprised if that was Snick Bolton.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Although Mike put the four names Mike, let's put the
four names in his column or his his article. I
guess it was over there at their website and Sherwood, Bond,
Nick Bolton, and Drake Greenlaw were the four names that
he suggested. I don't know much about Sherwood. Yeah, he
was looking him up during the break.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
He's a young player and it seems like everyone's talking
about him being the next.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Great linebacker, and he might be, and that might sneaky
be the way you go. I think he's the most
cost effective option of the four, although that doesn't move
the needle with the fans probably as much, although I
will say the fans will come around. Fans could hate
us or whatever. By the time the trading camp rolls around.
(23:02):
It's the greatest things to slice bread. Well, you remember
when the Broncos moved on from Draymont Jones, who was
a fan favorite. Yeah, and then brought out and everybody
was crapping on because we reported that. Right, everybody was
was sitting there taking a dump on me for a
reporting it and then b being upset. Then it would
all Zach Allen, this guy's stinks or whatever. Now you
can't find anybody doing that. Now he's an all pro. Right,
(23:24):
he's just saying people that wanted you to draft Justin
Fields over Patser Tan, they were telling everybody what a
bad draft pick pats Er Tan was.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Now we don't know where Justin Field is going to
be playing, and Patser.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Tan as the defensive player of the year. Yeah, it's
kind of funny too because there was there were the
insiders today, you know, my buddy's Mike Garfolo and the
inn at board got out there and they're they're chopping
it up and they were talking about stuff, and they're
putting out a report here that the Steelers are more
likely to bring back Fields than Russ And that's the report.
But somehow this is pivoted because of the aggregators into
(23:58):
a report that you know or the aggregators are now
saying that Justin Field is the starter for the Steelers
next year, which is not what those reports were. You
are fake news, And it's sort of it's sort of funny.
I mean, maybe he's in the competition. Maybe he does
wind up being the starter. I will tell you he's
not Plan A or Plan B. Why hasn't Aaron Rodgers
(24:24):
name been voted to the Steelers Because I don't think
they're the money to bring Adams either. Plus I don't
think that that's the direction that Arthur Smith wants to go.
Like Arthur Smith's gonna run Arthur Smith's offense and Aaron
Rodgers gonna run Aaron Rodgers offense.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
And that's why a team like the Giant, and that's
why a team like the Giants like, you know what,
we'll sell our soul.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Because it'll get Adams in here. We can put him
opposite neighbors and have Winderlle run on the slot and
then all of a sudden, we got a little something
on offense. If we can get any kind of blocking
out of the toilet paper roll we have of an
offensive line. But in terms of Broncos free agents, you
know we've mentioned what we mentioned the linebackers. I think
(25:04):
they'll take a look at safety. But I don't know
a lot of these safeties that people thought might hit
the market or kind of getting snapped back up by
their teams. Justin Simmons still out there.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Will not be at aver Bronco. Damn perse horses, just
say it.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Terry M. Jones, speaking of what you were talking about,
got cut today. That's probably why I brought him up. Yeah,
it goult cut today. I wouldn't be surprised if he
wound back up in Carolina. I say backup, wound up
in Carolina, Philadelphia, New Orleans. There's a couple of different
places he could probably go. Dray Mutt, I think, and
(25:48):
I like Draim Jones, don't get me wrong. He was
a hilarious guy if I him and Brett Rippon probably
had the best all time bit making fun of my
medium shirts out there at training camp. It was like
ten minutes of just me live on the air. Was
his fantastic bit. He was such a good interview. He
was great. But he also uh Draymont fought a lot
(26:09):
of Draymont, and I think that ended up kind of
kind of hurting him a little bit. They also could
go the Raiders. I mean, the Raiders were the ones that,
you know, Pete Carroll's guys, you know, brought him in right,
So I wouldn't be surprised on a Raiders defensive line
that needs help if he wound up there too.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
Not to pivot too hard, but speaking of people that
are full on themselves, have you seen the stories coming
out about Shadura?
Speaker 1 (26:32):
You my guys might have talked about it last night
when I was off the show. We did, and I'll
get to I'll touch back up on that after we
do traffic here a little bit, because I want to
dedicate that last segment right before we hit the President,
to somebody that's full of themselves. Five zeros a text line, Yeah,
I'm a riot? What got me? Good?
Speaker 2 (26:56):
There?
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Are? I'm trying to think anything else I wanted to
get to here. Oh, Ford was a that I said
to keep an eye on. I I you know, I
don't know that the Bronco is gonna be able to
resign DJ Jones at his number. Uh POONA. Ford is
a wide body, defensive tackle, run plug type guy. And
that's really we talked about that a little bit earlier
the Power Run game, right that was kind of the
Broncos Achilles heal last year. We are a little bit
(27:18):
lighter up front, and part of that is because our
edges guys are a little bit lighter, and so, you know,
I think having a having a wide body guy, wide
body run plugger like Poona Ford, I think that's a possibility.
Keep your eye on that. Had a conversation out there
with somebody you know, in the know, and they suggested
that Bronco has at least shown interest and we'll see
(27:43):
if they're you know, see if they're able to get
that done. I don't think there's gonna be too much
in terms of free agent money. On the offensive side,
we talked a little bit about Jhwan Johnson. You might
find a receiver when the Jets cut Alan Wizard. That
might be a guy you look at if you move
Little Jordan in, if you do move into being a
tight end, Alan Lazard can take over the role Little
(28:05):
Jordan had. The Broncos have had interest in Lazard before twice,
so you know, maybe there's a possibility there that you
know that they get that worked out third times a
charm maybe, but I don't see a lot of free
agent spend on the offensive side. Part of that is
(28:26):
going to be because your your free agent span is
gonna be bringing one of your your quarterbacks back. The
Broncos don't have a backup quarterback right now, and I
think they like to have one of those two back. Yeah,
I think they'd like to have both of them back,
but I don't think that that may or may not
be feasible. So part of your free agent spand is
(28:47):
just gonna be re signing your own backup quarterback. So
you know, something to keep your eye on with that.
We'll keep you up to date here of the next
few days, he's really delve into it. Probably not tomorrow,
but Thursday. I think tomorrow we get kind of a
sort show because we have to see basketball. So we'll
really get into a lot of the free agency stuff
(29:09):
on Thursday, and Nick Fergus will be back, I believe
at that point in time, so we'll get a chance
to deep dive with.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Him a little bit, kind of get his perspective.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
On some of that stuff.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
Zero's text line bank Roncos Country to Night, taking you
all the way up to the presidential address to Congress
here at a little bit after the top of the hour,
we'll be carrying that live here on KOA, followed by
the Democratic.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Response, and then your reactions to all that. I'll be
here along with Grant. We'll be taking your reactions. Please
react with us. I don't want to be sitting here by.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Myself, even if we don't like your reactions.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Yeah, even if you don't, even if you don't like
my reaction, Yeah, I'm better. Let's build, you know, let's
build a country together by disagreed about stuff. Maddy Connall
Ross commenced to get to chime in a little bit too.
Line them up. We'll get some phone calls from them
what they thought of all this as well. So looking
forward to that promised i'd hit back on the Shadoor
(30:09):
Sanders stuff. Talk a little bit about it last night,
and you're starting to see the reporting come out today.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
I think about teams and interviewing with him.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
There are some teams that are skittish or skeptical the
schador Sanders, and there's a sense that first of all,
that he's maybe not an elite talent, that he's he
might be an elite mind, but not an elite talent.
That he does have a high football IQ, but he's not.
There's no physical trait that's elite other than maybe the
key's gutsy. You know, he keeps getting hit and keeps
(30:41):
getting back up. There's no moment too big for that
kind of stuff. But he's got a middling.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Arm, you know.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
And the comparisons are to Teddy Bridgewater. And so I
think when you factor all that in and then you
roll this into a guy who has come up extremely privileged,
the son of one of the most famous people on
the planet, and you recognize that when you're bringing shitt
Or Sanders and you're not bringing in a player, you're
(31:11):
bringing in a brand.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
And we all hear and never know what that's like.
We all remember Russ.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
And then to top that off, you hear the stuff
about helicopter parents before. Now you've got a parent who
could literally show up at your camp or your practice
in a helicopter. And I think teams are a little
skittish about the fact that if they're not doing well,
(31:44):
Coach Prime could go on any football show because he's
got the media contacts, or just jump on his Twitter
and puts you on blast and it's going to get
picked up by everybody. It's going to be the story
of the day. Deon Sanders has one of the biggest
megaphones out there when it comes to social media reach.
He's got friends at every major media outlet.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
And I'm not just talking about television.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
I'm talking like the barstools of the world. And so
there's a sense that if you draft your door and
it doesn't work, you're gonna get hammered and potentially lose
your job if Daddy doesn't like it.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
And I'm not saying that that's necessarily the case. I'm
just saying that there's an opinion about that.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
And I talked to multiple, uh you know people when
I was out there. I had dinner with an NFL
head coach and general manager.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
That are that are in the market, that are very
in the.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
Market, and they were openly having this conversation like asking me,
and I'm like, bro, I'm not that I don't know
them that well. I mean, I'm here, they're up in Boulder,
like you know, but I don't I'm not that plugged
in up there. I don't know that that well. I
got friends on that staff but I'm not that kind
of plugged in where I can I can give you
that kind of hole. So I think there is a
(33:07):
I think there's a sentiment that in drafting shade or
there's an additional set of complications, and we'll get more
into that probably.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
Uh here on Thursday, we had to hit a break.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
We got the Presidential Address to Congress coming up. After
the news you listening to Broncos Country to Night right
here on Kiawa
