Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good abbreviated Show Broncos Country Tonight, Benjamin ol Bright, Zach
Singer's here with you five six sixty nine zeros the
text line or give way at the top of the
hour two Rockies Spring Training Baseball.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Six fifty five. Looking forward to that. Nick Ferguson has
departed the buildings. Grant Smith is headed back down to.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Bowl Arena in no way jealous, Zach, good to see it.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
How you doing doing great? Good to see you too.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
How is your March Madness bracket doing so far?
Speaker 2 (00:34):
I know you.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
We talked a little bit about Clemson last night. They
got bounced, trounced and renounced today by McNee state. How
is the bracket? Is it busted?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Are you still good?
Speaker 3 (00:46):
You know I picked all the one seeds, so I'm
feeling good on that front so far. I think I
might have picked every other game wrong so far. I
mean I had Louisville. It's yeah, I did every single
every single game is looking back for me right now?
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Ben Bad Huh you had you had Kansas instead of
my beloved Razorbacks.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Oh? I you know what I did?
Speaker 3 (01:05):
If no I had the Razorbacks, I was like, it's
a down Yere for Kansas and either Razers, so that
one I might have fired up.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
That might be the one that says I shouldn't have
spoken Now now I'm coached. Now I'm just Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
They are up at the half, so well, we'll see
how that works out for them. All burned one today
over Alabama State eighty three sixty three. Creighton of course
beat Louisville eighty nine to seventy five. Texas A and
m currently up on Yale thirty two to twenty five
with three twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Left in the first half.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
In that one BYU who happened to have Taysom Hill
in the house here in Denver watching BYU beat VCU.
Taysom Mail of course, a former joker for Sean Payton,
expected to be a free agent uh here after June first,
and is rehabbing an injury. Maybe it's just happened to
be in Denver, just happened to be watching that game.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Who knows what's going on there.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Wisconsin beat Montana eighty five sixty six. Cruised to victory there,
but not quite as easy a cruise as perhaps she's
next two teams, Houston beating up on si U e
seventy eight to forty and Goodzaga absolutely man handling Georgia.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
They were up at one point twenty seven to three.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Finished that game eighty nine sixty eight, Clemson losing to
McNee State sixty seven sixty nine. McNeice will take on Perdue,
who beat High Points seventy five to sixty three. Tennessee
up on the Wafford Terrier. Second half is underway there.
Tennessee up forty three thirty one on Wafford, Arkansas up
(02:31):
forty seven forty four on Kansas at the half. Missouri
and Drake just tipped off a Missouri up seven to five.
Ian that one as well.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Kaylee.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Tournament updates are presented by Infinity Stream Live Sports.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
From the best seat in the house.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Is there anything anyone that shocked you so far in
this one?
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Then?
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Do you have any rooting interests going forward? Is there
a team you're really invested in?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
I mean, I'm kind of for McNeese State now, I
didn't know about their heype man that's on an NI
deal only team manager on an IL deal.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
I think that's a little funny detail.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
They just they have that Cinderella energy you see at
March madnes It's just like a little funky, a little weird.
I don't think anyone knew wo McNeese State was, and
that game was really exciting, went down to the wire,
and even though I kind of had Clemson I found
myself point for McNeese State a little bit there. One
that stands out to me just because I have them
going for U see San Diego who's playing tonight down
(03:27):
at ball Arena.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
I have them as one of my big upset picks.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
I'll be rooting for them to to get the job
done tonight cal.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
San Diego taking on Michigan, which we did show me
the money on. I have Michigan in that one. But
the Tritons are a popular pick for the upset so
at five twelve, which tends to get a lot of
a lot of upsets. Trades were a big time scoring
team this year, but they do not rebound well at all.
And typically one of my formulas for filling out a
bracket is uh, you know, points per possession and how
(03:54):
well your your your rebounding efficacy is uh.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
In these things that tends to that tends to make
the bracket. You know, it tends to be a pretty
good predictor for the bracket. So are you doing well?
Are you are?
Speaker 1 (04:04):
I currently tied for second place in the office pool.
That's very good, So we'll see see how that continues
to go. Forarkansas, it does lose to Kansas, I'm in
a world of trouble because I have them in the
Elite eight. But beyond that, the only losses that I
really had Clemson make these State.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Didn't see that one coming.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Louisville Creighton, which I thought that I had picked Creighton.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
But I did not.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
I picked Louisville, So I look like an idiot when
I was celebrating the Creighton win and then looked at
my bracket like wow, I'm I'm a moron, So you.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Know that happened. Other than that, pretty good. I think
I've got the rest of them.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yale, I only have them winning the one game, but
I did have the beating A and M.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
They're losing right now. Now they've narrowed that gap.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
It's down to thirty five twenty nine, a six point
game with about two or four left in the first
on that one.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
I mean, other than that, I'm I'm pretty good.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
I don't think there's anything that I really you know,
the Michigan UCSD thing. I mean, if that upset happens,
that could host me because I do have Michigan. I
think winning a game or two that I have to
look at that. Otherwise, Yeah, it did pretty well overall today.
That's good.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
I feel like the first day blows it up for
so many people, me included. Normally I make it a
few days in, maybe even a few rounds in before
falling out of it, at least in terms of the
you know, first place competition and whatever pool I'm in.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
This year, it's right off the bat. I would be
amazed if.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
I am able to rebound, especially because I went kind
of chalky with my big picks. You know, if Florida
wins it all, I'll get a lot of points at all,
you know, but so many other people in the pool
also have Florida winning it all that I think. I
think it might be over for me before it even
really started. Well, and you know, our boss Dave Temper
was in here earlier. I was trying to talk a
little smack and you said, oh, you're your day one guy, huh,
and just kind of shut that down pretty.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Quick, because I mean it is, it's day one, and
you can't really talk a lot. Which, by the way,
I'm so glad that I did not send the text
message that I was going to send last night at
halftime when Texas was up on Xavier, because I had
like six paragraphs typed out of just absolute mad smack
talk to Shelby Harris on that one, talk about the
(06:05):
only Xavier I acknowledges the professor.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
You know, just there was hole.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
There was a whole lot of just absolute raucous smack
talk that I had going in that text message that
I did not push send on. In fact, goodness, I
did because Xavier came back after Texas choked it away
in the second half, came back and won that one,
and that could have been highly embarrassing, could.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Have been, could have been. Now you're only stuck with
the embarrassment of.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Mary King incorrectly, Yeah, picking in correctly and very confidently
so and betting did you went on a state dinner?
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Bet there?
Speaker 1 (06:38):
No, it's our brackets as a whole for that one, Okay.
Me and Shelby, like I got to take him to
Shanahans or he's got to take me to Friscos, one
of the two. But he's got like Wisconsin going all
the way or something. So I really feel like my
chances are probably pretty good. Yeah, I would feel safe
about that too. Five six, six times zero. Ear is
the text line. Quite a few texts coming in. We'll
say hi to Brian else we got here three or five.
(07:01):
So it's still too early for boats and hoes. I
guess not because I just said it, and he's like,
what about kayaks and cow girls?
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Because I said earlier. You know, I don't know if
I could say that on the end when I'm guest
hosting on another show. I don't know if I could
say the word ho. But I am absolutely fine saying
it on my own show.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, I don't think if you're saying it on this show,
I think you're fine on the others. I don't think
six nine, six to nine is the safe Harbor hours
with the FCC.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
I think, you know, if it's not, it's my show.
So I'm like, all right, I can just gotta say
what I want. You're not associating Ryan Edwards, Yeah, Ryan.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Edwards and Dave.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
But when I'm filling in for Ryan Edwards and Dave Logan,
I feel like maybe I.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Should just dial it back, just a little bit.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Maybe I should just not say the word ho, you know,
I mean, it is the the most rakish of all
the garden tools. So you get that joke, you're a
you're a you're a nerd on two levels.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
So you feel like you just like you don't want
to get on Ryan Edwards block with that or what
is it.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
I don't think it's Ryan that I'm so worried about
as so much as it is Dave Logan, the legend
that you know, what were you doing? Repeat saying the
word ho on my show again, the most rakish of
all the garden tools. If you get that joke, you
are an extreme nerd.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
I can go with you on the next generation, but
that one's over my head done.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
The double meaning for Rake is really well. I thought
it was some sort of pop culture reference.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Yeah, I got you the double meaning for both Hoe
and Rake in that sentence. You are You're an extreme anyway,
Let's see here.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
What do we got? Three?
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Or three?
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Dylan from Fort Mill, South Carolina.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Then, I know you mentioned the other day possibility of
adding Brandan Cooks. Do you think that's still possible. I
do think that's still possible. I don't think that's an
urgent kind of thing. Same thing with JK.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Dobbins.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
I think both those are possible. I don't think either
one is urgent as far as the Broncos go. I
think they're kind of laid back right now and letting
the markets set the market on that. I don't think
either guy has a very big market. And I do
believe that that if they can get them at the
right price, which would be a very low price, that
they would be they would be.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
In the market for them.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
And with Sean Payton tending to lean on veterans offensively
at those skill positions, even you know, when he drafted Kamara,
drafted Ingram, they leaned a little bit on the veterans
in that room or those respective rooms rather. I mean,
do you think it's Dobbins or bust for them kind
of on the veteran running back market, or do you
think there's other names that there are worth monitoring.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
I think they'll add a veteran and I think Dobbins
us the name and whether or not that ultimately comes
to fruition. There are a couple of the guys you
could take a look at. Jamal Williams is out there,
Nick Chubb is out there. I don't I don't think
Chubb's a guy, but you know that name is out there.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
You can pass protect.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
That's that's the one argument I've been making for him
is you don't really have a guy in that room
right now who can pass protect. But I mean, do
you want a back that's just solely a pass protect
I mean that'd be I think a downgrade on what
Chavante gave you.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Last year, right, And so that's that's sort of the thing.
You're looking for.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
A pass catcher that can pass protect. And JK. Dobbins
is kind of that guy. You know, all three, and
so that that's why I think that ultimately would be
the case.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
I've seen some suggestions that Denver should trade for Tyler Aljeer.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
I don't think that's a possibility, based on a conversation
I've had in the last couple of days. It would
have to be like a seventh rounder, and I just
don't think Atlanta's giving him up for that. And I
don't think the Broncos want to give up assets, to
be honest with you, when there's such there's so many
names out there available in free agency that they could
just sign without having to give up the draft.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Pick, or in such a loaded running back draft, you know,
would you believe.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
They'll double dip. I believe they'll add a veteran and
draft someone early that.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Or I mean, even if you wanted to double dip
in the draft, would you rather, you know, spend that
sixth round pick? Not saying they will, but would you
rather spend that sixth round pick for four cheap years
of Touton out of Virginia Tech or or Dart who's
the who's the Syracuse kid?
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Uh? Allen?
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Yeah, would you rather spend a sixth round pick on
four cheap years of that guy than spending it on
one cheap year of Algier?
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Well, and I do think there's a financial consideration to that.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
But I also think they want a veteran in the
room because I think they like to have, you know,
somebody in each room that's that's got experience and uh,
you know and that kind of stuff. So, you know,
I think that I think that's that's something they'll look at.
We'll see, we'll see.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
How that shakes out.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
That Broncos obviously had a thirty visit with Quinchean Judkins
out of Ohio, state. I think it's it's fascinating because
I think most people who come up to me talk
about the other Ohio state running back. But I think
Judkins is more in line with, again, the Sean Payton
archetype that you're looking at. It you go back and
look at the history of Sean Payton, you look at
the running backs that he brings in. Usually is one
of those, you know, kind of fast, smallish, quick guys,
(11:29):
you know, there to catch passes, whether it's or you know,
the Reggie Bushes of the world or Darren Sproles the world, that.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Kind of stuff. And then he usually has a.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Stable of guys that are six foot two twenty five,
you know, or bigger to be sort of battering rams.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
You go back and look at the mark Ingram's of
the world.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Or the illatavious Murray Pierre Thomas. He tends to like
those bigger, you know, uh body type running backs for
early down and or pass protection scenarios and Quinchean Judkins
kind of falls into that category. I mean, you talk
about a guy who's right there at six feet five,
five eleven and seven eighths or whatever, six feet and
(12:04):
over two hundred and twenty pounds and that falls into
the body archetype of the running back that he likes.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
It definitely sounds ideal. And then the way he lit
up the combine and everything. I think you have to
be very excited with that. I think you go back
and watch his old Miss tape, it's even easier to
get excited. I feel like he had a bit of
a down year until that final stretch with Ohio State
this year, but the year before at Ole Miss, he
was absolutely amazing. How predictive do you think these Top
(12:32):
thirty visits can be for the Broncos. I feel like,
in general, under George Payton and Sean Payton, they've done
a fairly good job, you know, hiding their cards, not
showing their hand. Do you think you know there's much
to gain from seeing that quin Shawn Judkins? Is there
that they have serious interest in quin Shawn Judkins? Do
you think it just could be smoke Orger's interest there.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
I think they're looking at all possibilities. I think they
would love to get o Mario Hampton. I don't think
they're convinced he's going to be there, you know, I
think most people think Chanty has gone somewhere between six
and thirteen, and Hampton could be gone somewhere between ten
and thirteen.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
And so I think that, you know, the idea.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
That they need to maybe look a little deeper into
this class at running back just because some of the
guys they they they like which and they're going to
draft a running back early. Some of the guys they
may I may not be there. And I think it's
good to do the due diligence on those kinds of things.
And you know, just in case, if Hampton does fall
in your lap, so be it. If he doesn't, you
need to have alternate plans and be be adaptable to
(13:33):
continue to fill out this roster.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Yeah, and I think do you think they'll take into
consideration with Dobbins If they miss out on Dobbins and
have to go to a second veteran option, do you
think that even amplifies that need greater.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
No.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
I think it's the same of the way.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
I think adding a veteran voice to the room is
just adding a veteran voice to the room. I think
they believe that they're going to get a feature back
out of this draft, regardless of what they sign a
free agency.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
It's the same thing with you know, with with wide receiver.
I don't believe they're going to draft.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
They may take one on Day three, but I try
to tell everybody from the get go because they view
this receiving core that they have is a lot better
than the fans. Than the fans do, they believe Devon
Vele could absolutely be the guy to step in for
Courtland Sutton. They love Marvin Mims over there at the
Z and they think Troy Franklin could could take a jump.
(14:22):
You know, Evan Ingram, I don't know that they necessarily
view him the same way a lot of the fans
and media have. I know Evan put that tweet out
with the joker thinger, He's never been a joker before.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
He's a big slot guy, and I think they.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
View him more in the receiving room than they do
in the tight end room.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Do you think any problems could come up with that
with I mean Mims, although he kind of fits in
ideally as that ze, some of his best work are
arguably all his best WHEREK came in the slot this
past season. Devon Valley also was kind of that big
slot for them this past year. To have an Ingram
to your point kind of seems to fit in that
big slot role. I don't know, are you worried that there's
(15:00):
maybe a bit of redundancy there with the similar body types?
Speaker 2 (15:04):
May maybe a little bit?
Speaker 1 (15:05):
And that is sort of like the question because I
think they had a different plan.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
With the tight of position.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
I think they wanted to get both Juwan Johnson and
Evan Ingram, and Johnson and Ingram both wanted to be
the guy, and so they man, you know, Johnson wound
up going to New Orleans because he knew he'd be
the guy there versus you know, Ingram, who was like
who really had no market.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
I mean, he was the.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Broncos the Chargers, and the Chargers weren't offering, you know,
necessarily what the Broncos were. I know there's a quote
out there by turning down more money, but that's what
everybody says.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
The reality is is, you know, kind of is what
it is. Ingram. I mean, I do believe he can
be a weapon.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
But if you go back and you look at what
he's been traditionally over the last over his career in
the NFL, he's been a big slot guy between the twenties,
Like he's not a red zone guy.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
He's not an end zone guy.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
And he outside his rookieyear we had six touchdowns. I
don't think he's eclipped. He's averaged three touchdowns a season
every year, you know, I mean he had I think
he had four to one year and one one year,
so kind of Balnce is out, but he's been a
three touchdowns. He's between the twenties, big slot guy that
you're you're putting out there to see.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Okay, are they.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Cover him with a corner and we coming back shoulder
or are they cover him with a linebacker. We're running
across the field outrun him, and that's that's kind of
what you do with him as far as that goes.
He's there to you know, to kind of be the
screen guy as well, throw him a few screens.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
All that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
But you know, people think that he's there to be,
you know, the joker, and I'm like, I think he's
more there to be what little Jordan Humphrey was when
all said and done. Humphrey, he's putting on weight and
moving to the tight end room and should be back
with the Broncos anyway.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
So you think he will still fit in that tight
end room even with the position change.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
I mean you who Humphrey for Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
I think he'll be in the tight end room. I
think it all said and done, he'll be in the
tight end room.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
I mean, he knows when he.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Split out what he has to do because he's been
in this offense so much. But Ben Ingram doesn't play
in line. I mean, let's say twenty percent of his
snaps that are in line, and when you have him
in line, you know he's either going to be out
in a route or you're doing some kind of trickery
thing because he doesn't lock. They're not good, they're not
good rap swings on line. So I you know, for me,
when I look at this and I see people in.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
There, all we got the joker, and you know, I don't.
I don't really think that's what he meant by that.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
I get what you're saying, but he's more of a
big receiver than he is a tight end, and he's
more you know, he's just really just been a heavy
slot guy his career.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
That's what he does.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
So I'm not you know, I don't think the Broncos
are out of the market on a tight end. I
do believe, you know, keep it on Mason Taylor in
a draft. I believe somebody that can play in line
is probably something to lad. But the other I think
they're satisfied with the receiving corps. I do they may
add somebody in the draft late, but I don't think
it's a priority. You know, I saw melk kyper mocking
(17:36):
the kid from Arizona. I don't think that's even a
thing for them. I don't think that's on their radar.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
So beyond if running backs not on that list of priorities, obviously,
very sorry, wide receivers not on that list of priorities, obviously,
running back seems to be top of the list there.
What what do you think is maybe right behind running
back in that group where they still view it as
a serious need. As linebacker they're considering, you know, some
questions toll with Singleton or yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
I know, I think that the running back and tight
ender priorities.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
And then I think, uh, you know, a defense, another
defensive lineman, because I'm not sure they're going to extend
John Franklin Myers and so what you you when you
look at things they already they got.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
DJ for a couple of years now, you've.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Added, uh, you know, you've got Zach Allen, who you're
gonna re up. You're gonna have to let one of
those guys go and get cheaper and that, unfortunately, he
probably means John Franklin Myers will play this year and
then and then probably be done. And so you know,
I do believe that a you know, sort of a
five tech defensive lineman is probably in the cards for
the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
I do believe, as you just said, linebacker.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
I think they'll add another linebacker, you know, to the mix,
and then I think they'll see if the board falls
where it may. If you look at the history of
George and Sean Payton, they like to draft corners, uh
and keep adding the corner every year. I wouldn't be
surprised if they added another one, specifically somebody that they
can groom for the slot to. I'm not so sure
that they're sold on j Quia mcmillion being the guy
(18:58):
when all said and done on the lot. I think
they you know, they obviously love certain I think they
like Riley Moss. I'm not I would say that if
you look at the second area, I would say they
viewed the slot corner as the weakest link there right now,
and so that might be something that you that you
would take a look at as well.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Yeah, they'll have a decision to make on McMillan this
upcoming season with the RFA tender and how much money
they want to continue investing there. It seems to be
a logical off rampant. The twenty might be a little
rich for it. But a guy like John A. Barron
who kind of fits like, you know, this year's Brian
branch or Kyle He's not really like a Kyle Hamilton,
(19:36):
but that kind of Nickel superstar Nickels would not really
sure what position to label this guy, but so instinctive,
such an amazing player, but we've seen those guys fall
in the past. I think he's better than one of
the twenty best players in this draft, where you know,
the value might make sense.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
And it's interesting because Vance Joseph has always been a
guy who has valued that. I mean when he was
the head coach here, Will Parks was kind of that
guy who played the you know, they heavy Nickels safety dinebacker,
you know, between a role. They obviously drafted Isaiah Simmons
when he was in Arizona. You know who's sort of
a tweener did that, played a little linebacker, played, played
a little safety, played.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
A little nickel, you know, as far as that stuff goes.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
So Vance does have a history of sort of that
archetype player there as well. Something to keep your eye
on with as Well'll get a little bit more into
this we come back. Somebody on the text line got
it said rakishly bad. You're such a cad. So somebody
there is a fellow nerd out there somewhere from the
three zero three. When we come back, we get a
little bit more into this, give you some more updates.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
From March Madness.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
So of course we've got Rocky spring training baseball caught
up top of the hour. You listen to Broncos Country
to night here on KOA Benjamin all right, Zach Seaker's
with you. Got Rockies baseball coming up the top of
the hour. You guys wanna stick around for that. Been
(20:50):
talking about the NC Double A Tournament, March Madness.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
And kicking off today. Are you glued?
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Are you dialed into the Archpenasters is a background noise
thing for you?
Speaker 2 (21:02):
I'm pretty dialed in.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
I mean, I love the excuse to just have like
great sports going on during the day. I get why
it's something we don't have really any other time during
the year, but it's really fun to just, you know,
while I'm producing one of these shows, just have like
right now, we've got March madnesson in the background, and
I guess in that sense it's background, but I'm pretty
plugged into it throughout the day, just curious what's going on,
(21:24):
and with four games on at a time, you can
really cherry pick.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Like what's the best game, what's the best moment right now?
Speaker 3 (21:30):
And you know it's perfect, it's a great sporting event.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
Currently, A'm textually and I'm up on Yale forty twenty
nine at the half there that game on TBS. Missouri
is losing eighteen twenty four to Drake Cuts on True TV,
Arkansas fifty five forty seven on Kansas at game is
on CBS Tennessee remains up on Wafford sixty eight fifty
five six O two to go. That game of course
(21:55):
on tn T no the action currently going on that
I'm a aware of a couple of games later though.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
It'd be fun.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
Yeah, Arkansas open up that lea ead on Kansas so
that hopefully they can hold onto that and not find
a way choke that a game I got.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
I got them all the way to the Elite.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Eight losing to Florida, you know, in my bracket, so
I could definitely use.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
An Arkansas win there. Look, you're good there so far.
But yeah, I don't think anyone's making it past Florida.
They are an absolute buzzaw right now.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Yeah, five six, six, nine zero is the text line.
I did say the three or three got my nerd
joke and said I'm rakishly bad.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
I'm such a cad. I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Let's see four one seven says Broncos talk is great
and all, but the people really don't want to know
when you will have Ironman's dad on the show or
Bill Donahue. Thanks Bill Donna, who think is a joke
because Grant didn't know Phil Donahue was, which I'm assuming
you don't either.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
I can't help you there, I'm sorry. Okay, yeah, too
young for that. Seven to two?
Speaker 1 (22:54):
Oh Ben, who's the South Floridian who I'm supposed to
be blocked by?
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (22:58):
For people who don't get that reference, there is a
Twitter account called Dove Cleman that is not run by
the original person who set it up, whose name was
also not dove Cleman. That person sold the account, sold
the dove Cleman account to this other person last year,
(23:21):
and the person who runs it now is someone who
is based in South Florida.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
His name is Jonathan Skrewitz, and if you look that
name up.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
You'll find all sorts of I'm gonna charitably call him
a prankster. Really, he's just a kind of a terrible
person who dabbled in fake news and many other things
over the years. He's been sued a few times. His
dad as much money as a as a wealth management person,
and he's that's how he gets his kicks, I guess is,
(23:51):
you know, buying up Twitter accounts and being.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Terrible with him.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
For those that don't know the dove Cleman thing, why
that's going off today is he's a bad faith aggregator,
meaning that he will take stories that other people say
and not properly attribute them. And then today or yesterday,
I guess, went after Mina Kimes for no reason whatsoever,
and Mina Kimes came out with a joke, but that
joke pertained to the original owner of the account, and
(24:17):
not the current owner of the account.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
The original owner of.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
The account, again, whose name is not actually Dove Cleman,
and nor is it Billy Spikes, although Billy Spikes was
the username that he used to use on a popular
football for him back in the day before he started
the Dove Cleman account over on a football board called
Football's Future. The Billy Spikes account was a little out
there used to claim that he had a restraining order
(24:42):
against him from Jennifer Lawrence, the actress, which is.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
An odd thing to brag if not true, so I
think most people taken.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
There's no known like there's never been any evidence or
proof that this restraining order exists, but he certainly had
some thirsty message board posts and or tweets about the
actress over the years. The original guy at least was
honest about his aggregation and would attribute and properly credit
people when he did stuff. The new person's just a
(25:12):
you know, it's just terrible. So both of them are
problematic people. But in the end, somebody had said, if
you're not blocked by Cleanman, you're doing Twitter wrong. At
this point, I've been I got blocked by him last
year or some point after pointing out that the new
guy bought the account. So anyway, that's what that reference is.
That's a super niche thing there that somebody texted in.
But that that's what that is. Is that particular Twitter account,
(25:34):
which purports to be an NFL news account, just steal
stories from people it doesn't properly attribute.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
And then bizarrely yesterday started attacking Mina Chimes.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
Of ESPN and out of the blue for no reason. Yeah,
I was over the Jackie Robinson thing.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Yeah, yeah, I should just making up that some people
said that ESPN should fire or something. Yeah, trending people
are saying, you know, people are saying, well what people
do where you know? That's it was just it was
stupid and so that's where that comes from. Anyway, if
you if you follow that account, I wouldn't there There's
several accounts out there that are terrible and are bad
(26:07):
faith actors with that, like NFL Notify or mL Football
NFL RUMs, which is a construction worker in Kentucky that
purports to be an NFL insider with rumors that he
makes up and pretends that they're And the funny thing
about the NFL RUMs account is I busted that account.
I think it was four years ago, maybe five years
ago when it we used to be Pro Football Talk
(26:27):
four one one.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
I outed the person for what they were.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
They posted a public apology that they admitted that they'd
made it all up, and then six months later rebranded
there you know, went away. Six months later, rebranded the
account the NFL RUMs and we're.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Right back doing the same thing.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
And the guys that he's a subcontractor losing Kentucky has
no connection to anybody in the league for any reason
about anything, uh, and constantly either steals other people's work
and presents it his own or makes things up, you know,
as they go.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
So there's a lot of those accounts.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
I would say if you are looking for an aggregator
account and then is an account that will uh take
uh for those who don't know what aggregators, We'll take
all the stories that are out there, uh and kind
of condense them into one account. And that's what Pro
Football Talk has done for years. You know, My Sports
Update does that. You know JP Football does that. If
you if you're looking for, you know, people that do
(27:17):
it the right way, uh, those are probably the ones
you want. And the reason that it's a big deal
that people don't credit is because Twitter now pays by
the view. So if these people take what other people
say and just slap it up on their account, well
then they steal the views. And literally you're stealing money
from people at that point in terms of you know, in.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Terms of what's out there. It's not like it used
to be where people could.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Just say, hey, I got this for you know, post
embed a video or bettsweet and say I got this
from so and so.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Now when you do that, you're literally stealing views.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
And there's there's an account here in town that, uh,
you know, it sort of does that, and it's got
several journalists around here a little irritated h that they
will turn around and say the same things and and
wind up being wind up sort of taking other people's
stories and just kind of putting that on their account
(28:04):
and maybe.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Maybe maybe crediting them by name.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
But at that point you could have just quote tweeted
them or just retweeted them, you know kind of thing.
It's it's because I will tell you that's going to
become a contention here in the future. There will be
probably a confrontation with that person who's a nice person
in real life, but uh, it's it's gonna be I
suspect that's going to come to a head as there
are several people that are a bit disgruntled with the
way that person does business, uh with the new the
way that Twitter does and you know take not that
(28:30):
any make cares about that kind of stuff, but yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
You just got to add to the conversation. So I
got well, and I'm and further the cover.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
If somebody else is reported something, just retweet, like You're
never gonna catch me like sitting there and say blah
blah blah blah blah. First reported by Mike Clisps, I
just retweet Mike's sweet or if I do something, I'll
tweet it, you know. Yeah, So it's it's one of
those things where I'm just saying, like, you're never gonna
catch me doing stuff, like if somebody else report, just
retweet them, give them their flowers, let them get their
their credit for that kind of stuff. Won't They'll sit
there and try and steal, uh steal tweets or any
(28:57):
that kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
It's just stupid, you know. Anyway, maybe I'm the.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Other person that cares about that, right now, but I
will tell you I'm actually not I know that there
are people around town that are starting to get real
irritated with a very specific account on that kind of stuff.
So five six sixty nine zero is the text line.
We will uh give away to Rockies Baseball at the
top of the hour till the top of the hour
(29:22):
will give way to uh Colorado Rocky Spring training baseball.
Speaking to giveaways, caller three right now, three h three
someone three eighty five eighty five. That's three or three
someone three eighty five eighty five. What a pair of
passes to the Denver Home Show March twenty first through
the twenty third at National Western Complex. You can buy
tickets early and save the Denver Homes Show dot com.
(29:43):
Or you can just be caller three right now, three
or three someone three eighty five eighty five and win
a free pair of tickets to the Denver Home Show. Uh.
Talking a little bit more college basketball here, looks like
uh about ten minutes ten and a half minutes left
in the second half there Arkansas out to a sixty
(30:03):
two to fifty five lead over Kansas at the half,
Drake leading Missouri thirty twenty three. It looks like we're
about fifteen thirty three left in the second half A
and m is up again eleven over Yale forty nine
to thirty eight, and Tennessee continues to pull away from Wafford,
(30:24):
now out to a seventy four to fifty nine lead
with about a minute forty one left.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Ian that one? What game are you focused on on tonight?
You said you see san Diego against Michigan. Is that
that's the one year eyeballing? Yeah, I think I got you.
I'm too pot committed on it.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
I think I've got san Diego making it to the
sweet sixteen.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
More mat for me, I think I got them winning
too against.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Fan, Like, how much do you even know about that
basketball team? I barely know anything about them. Vibes man, No,
I got good vibes off off that sound. By by
the way, that there's vibes man, that's that's gonna be
a good one.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
That's promising. Yeah, I don't know. I just I don't
trust Michigan.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
I felt like a good Upstate pick, but yeah, it's
I probably shouldn't have gone too hard to I don't
listen to anything.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
I say. My brackets busted this year.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Yeah, I man, if you want me to pick one
seeds over sixteen seeds, I got you covered there. Two
seeds over fifteen's, I got you covered there for the
most part.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
But I mean, yeah, well, San Diego is basically a
one man show. They got a guy, Tate Jones, who
is basically their best player. It's kind of a one
man show there, And it's anytime you got a team
like that, that's a one man show. It's really tough
for me to pick a team like that because you know,
you throw everything at that, you gotta have somebody else
sort of step up. And you know, Michigan's got got
a lot better players that they do have a couple
(31:36):
of the guys that can score McGee can score a
little bit for San Diego. But I just, I mean,
anytime you got a blue blood, it's a bit more distributed.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
I tend to kind of lean.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Toward and favor that, especially if they're a high quality
rebounding team. Rebounds are so critical in the Incitabate tournament
rebounding margin. You go back and you look at at
teams that with their offensive efficacy and the rebounding margin
tend to be the teams that win those games.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
Many a fool has doubted Tate the great Jones. That's
all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
I still can't pronounce his first name. It's like Honie
Wanni wah Tate Jones. I can't pronounce his first name.
I rememvery time I messed it up, so I don't
want to. I don't want to mess it up. But
he's kind of a it's kind of a tweetter guard
forward for them, and he is by far their best player.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
He's gonna light it up tonight. I'm telling you, the
Wolverine's gonna have no answer for him. Okay, he's gonna
look like the good thing. Who did they lose to
this year?
Speaker 1 (32:29):
Well, the lowest scoring output was his last game for
the lowest scoring output since February. Excuse me, since January
was his last game where he only scored fifteen points.
He's mostly a twenty point a game guy, and so
he's I mean, he is there.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
He is their dude as far as that stuff goes.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
So he'll we'll see, we'll see if the Tritons are
able to do that. Obviously, they're one of the better
scoring teams the n C Double A for the finish
forty fourth on the season in scoring overall, but not
a great rebounding team two hundred and eighty second in
the n C Double A and rebounding.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
That's really ugly.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Not gonna lie, but anyway, it's just amazing that they're
even here as a recent call up to Division one.
I mean, this is I think the first year they're
even eligible to make the tournament. Quote that they're here,
Fingers crossed.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
They can make me not look like a complete idiot.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
As it sits the Wolverine's two point favorite, and now
when the over under currently sits at one forty four
and a half, who Wolverines are a two point favorite?
Speaker 3 (33:22):
Okay, hey, that's that's not too bad. Yeah, two point
fits like that's almost a coin topic two two and
a half.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
This is where the line is sitting.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
Mostly, and then the over under went from one forty
three up to one forty four and a half, so
they're expecting some some fireworks in that one.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Tate Jonson telling you all time performance good.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
As we've talked to, Kansas is chewed into the Arkansas lead.
Arkansas only up one now with about seven thirty left
in the second half, sitting there at sixty two sixty.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
One in that one.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
So it's uh, it's getting a case of the tight
cheeks here as that and would bust part of my
bracket as I have Arkansas making to the Elite eight
against Florida.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
That's what you get for victory lapping on day one.
It is it is I have been known.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
That's again I saved myself some uh uh, saved myself
some embarrassment because if if I had texted that to Shelby,
he would have absolutely posted those texts to Twitter.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
He would have come down into the station today.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Yeah, he would have put but he would have posted
it to Twitter. It wud like tag me in it
then just post it and be like, what were you saying? Now?
Speaker 2 (34:25):
I like my steak rare. Oh my goodness, it has
been a fun day today.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Thanks to Dave Logan. Right ever, just let me fill
it in ok WA Sports. Thanks Nick Ferguson for joining
me during that. Thanks to Grant Smith for producing KWA
Sports earlier. Thank you to Zach Siger's producing Broncos.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Country tonight here. Thank you all for listening.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
Ka Wait continue swift spring training baseball. The Colorado Rockies
up next, right here by fifty am
