Speaker 3 (00:56):
Well, I mean I've already said the trend. Why change
is right?
Speaker 1 (01:00):
You like, is it you? Who's the honey?
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Like?
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Is it? Is it store water? Because okay, so Rosskominski
has his own bees. I guess it does his own honey.
I'm sorry, I don't have my own bees. Well Ross does.
So you gave me some of the Ross Kiminski honey.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
So that's what I took.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
What I was okay, okay, wow.
Speaker 5 (01:18):
I see where I rank on the Ross Komensky list.
I haven't gotten any honey. Just ask Ross for some, Well,
ask him for it.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Just give it to you. I was like, I was like,
because I can't remember how it started because I didn't
even know you raised bees, but like, I can't remember
how it started or whatever. But then I didn't ask
him for the honey at that point, but I was
talking about honey for some reason.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
And then he was like, well, I raised bees. I
got my own hunt.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
And I was like, bro, you know what, I may
have to reach out to him because local honey is
always the best, especially if you have I.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Think it's what it was. I think it was talking
about my allergies, and I think that's what it was.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
Actually, anything to boost Benjamin Albright's immune system.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
We are here for it. Oh yeah, my immune sister
is terrible.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
We might need to get around honey IV. So he's
just walking around straight. Yes, my immune system is like
the Raiders Defense without Max Crossby. You know you can
just run right through it. Yeah, horrible. I am always sick.
It is absolutely and it's and like I takete stuff
like I take a thousand milligram vitamin C twice a day.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
It's not working.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
It's not working, yes, because you need to listen.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
Just like there's so many letters in alphabet.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
There's so many letters in alphabet. When it comes to vitamins,
you need to take more than just vitamins.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
I'm taking them home.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
I didn't even know there was a vitamin X, but
but I'm taking that. You need to go get some
Nature's vitamin vitamin D yes, like just walk out in
the guess you get some saying something else there and
I just let it go.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
I'm talking about podcasts right now. Nick runs out the studio.
I was like, I'm just they can't see me in
the studio.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
They can't see this, They can't see studio.
Speaker 6 (02:59):
Did say that this is the one time I wasn't
trying to.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
I'm like you jumps like bro I about Briley Reid,
like what are we doing here? Whoa, he's not Friday yet,
but we all crunched. We're supposed to do us segment
here another Broncos update their office. But I think we
all got out. Thered resumes after answer grant that bomb.
(03:28):
Forget the wash Bob, We've got the we got the
Grant Smith bomb. Now, man, he came here, you go on.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
I do.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Go out of the sun though, and get uhlight. Hey,
you don't.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
The most song you get is you walking in the building,
walking back to your car.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
That's about it. I've been going for a walk every day.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
That Basem and all Blake, he's been going for a walk.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Not this phone has a step counter today?
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Hold on, I gotta find it because I have no
idea where here.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Don't don't count when you're going downstairs and the Vinsim
machine is your step counter.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
That is accidental and ergy drink.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
I take the elevator down. Don't used the stairs.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Now. But I I've been walking. I've been walking, but
it's been sunny. I didn't walk a couple of days
where it was cold, there.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
But I've been.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Out there, you know, trying the vast time to go
on a walk. I'm good with that. Like with these shorts.
I mean, I've got the Joss Stockton shorts on right now,
you do. They are I would say mid side, but
really it's kind of upper mid side. Yeah, those are
those are reaching and reaching up. I'm glad.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
I'm glad that I haven't laid eyes on that yet.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
I get a direct view from here. He's gonna I'm
just I'm.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Just gonna spread an eagle right now, right at him.
I'm getting my own vitamin d yea possibly.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Fight him and d David Tepper in here in a minute,
like shutting us down. Finally, we had a great segment
last night. If you guys been set you go to
Broncos Country Night that Conplation podcast.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
You a lot of.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Feedback on that on Twitter.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
It did people enjoyed that segment with with their boss
Dave the.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
And why it was so awesome because, I mean, Tebra
is the program director and usually we don't really have
him to express and share his experience on the airways.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Like I keep trying to get him to come in.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
He's like, no, no, no, no, no, everyone's listened to you.
But I thought it was very valuable last night, since
you were talking about the JC. It's got a situation
for the listeners to hear that someone else's in a
position of power, how they kind of got to that position,
but also because of their experiences that they're willing to
assist other people. I think to me, that's valuable, whether
(05:35):
you are a boss or you are someone trying to
work your way to that particular point.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
I think people I'm hoping that people who are listening
to that segment got something out of it in the
sense that hey, I can go do that too, or
I can try and go do that too, you know,
rather than just continuing to do something mundane that they hate,
instead of putting themselves out there on the line to
go do something they want to do. Because there's a
lot of guy I know a lot of people who
have settled for jobs or careers because they don't feel
like that they can just they don't know where to begin,
(06:01):
where to go do those kinds of things.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
And so I thought that was good. Now, obviously we didn't.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Get mister Tepper to talk about his purchase of the
Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
But maybe someday we'll figure that out.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Just say, and if you want to tweet at that guy,
if you have any complaints about the Carolina Panthers whatsoever,
at Dave J. Tepper, you should just tweet directly at
that guy and do all that. I tried, bro, I
tried not to. We got five six, six Nimes. There's
text a lot of great texts coming in. Keith and orlandersons,
I've got to burn Grizzlies over the progue Lions for
(06:32):
the championship this year.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
European football okay said one nine.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
What would the Broncos be willing to keep Courtland Sutton at?
I don't know, but I don't think twenty eight and
a half million pers where they're at with that.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Well, keeping with tradition of Sean Payton dating back to
his days with the Saints, they rarely pay an enormous
amount of money to a receiver and the way that
teams think is okay, well, a guy may have played
well for us to tigular season. If there is a
younger guy that they feel that has equal or better
(07:05):
talent and that player is more cost effective, chances are
the team's going to go in that direction because you're
still dealing with the Salard cap even though it definitely
went up, And ideas, okay, well, how do you make.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
This team better?
Speaker 3 (07:20):
And I go off the fact that you know, bo
is still on a rookie deal, so you have to
go out and push your tips to the center of
the table and say, okay, where can this team get
better by signing certain veterans. The team did that on
the defensive side of the ball, and this is why
the draft will allow them to go and get some
of that young talent, because in my mind, you get
(07:41):
this talent that you can groom, but they all kind
of develop together and you keep having that turnover because
some guys are going to either age out or or
you're going to push them out, So you just need
to have other guys waiting in the ring rings ready
to go.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, and again, I think the team thinks a lot
more to val than the fans, do you know. I'm
just telling you just from conversations I've had aiding back
to last year. I think internally they think a lot
higher of.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Velea than the fans do at this point.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
So it'll be interesting to see, you know, exactly how
that whole situation shakes out. Four one sevens is Daniel Smitherson,
David's second cousin twice removed on his mom's side, wants
to know how concerned you are with all the void
years showing up in Broncos contracts here lately. Side note,
damn you been for educating me and making me care
about void years. I am a little concerned that we
(08:32):
have quite a few of these void years sneaking in lately.
It really hinders your flexibility down the line. You can
win if you have some void years and all stuff.
We just saw Philadelphia do it. But if you mismanage
that and it can be it. It's one of those
temptations that you kind of can keep going to the
well on and then get yourself in trouble. You look
what the Saints have done and it's kind of you know,
(08:52):
it's really kind of gotten them in trouble in recent years.
And the bill is they keep trying to kick the
can down the road a little bit, but it just
gets worse or eventually they're gonna really have a major problem.
So we'll see, you know, we'll see how that checks out.
It does concern me, I will say that five six, six,
nine zeros. Text On one other thing that concerns me,
the Broncos offense. You and I've talked about this several
(09:16):
times over might.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Need some updates, right.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
One of these stats stumbled across today. The team in
the NFL with the absolute least pre snap motion in
the NFL ever Broncos, and by far too. The number
two team was Nathaniel Hackett's offense there in New York
with the Jets, and we saw that that offense wasn't
very good. Pre snap motion is huge and if you look,
(09:38):
there's a direct correlation between that and rises and quarterback ratings.
Why do you think Sean Payton does not use much
pre snap motion?
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Well, he may feel as though it's not a vital
part one of his offense and it really doesn't create
as many opportunities as some may look at it and
look at it in that particular way. And when you
look at what the Broncos were trying to do, you
may get a little pushback, right from some fans and
(10:07):
maybe from those in the Broncos organizations, said, well, then
that's not true.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Texted, that's not true.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
We did use pre snap motion and that is true,
they did, but they didn't use it at a large rate.
It was literally the lowest rate in NIFAY. It definitely was.
And some coaches get to a certain point where they
want to be the creators of a particular scheme or
be able to say, okay, well we did it our
(10:34):
way and we were effective what we know. The league
is an ever changing league. It's about the evolution, evolution
from a coaching standpoint, how do you coach, evolution from
a player standpoint, how do you.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Adapt, how do you adjust?
Speaker 3 (10:49):
And the game, in my opinion, is solely about adjustments
can you make in game adjustments. I don't care about
if I were a coach that someone else did something
and I borrow that, no one cares because it's a
copycat lead exactly. There's nothing you're going to invent that
we haven't seen before, right, and then once you invent it,
(11:12):
people are going to start to figure it out, learn
how to adjust. I mean, people still don't know how
to adjust to the touch push right, but eventially that'll
come to pass. But for me, the offense needs to
have a little more movement in it because now you're
trying to move defensive players like chess pieces into places.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Where you can execute. Yeah, there's two things.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
I mean, that's one of the things about me.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
The other one you and I've talked about before too,
is it's the amount of tight bunch that they do
that allows those dbs to blitz the quarterback and allows
them because you can't tell, you know, when you bunch
them up and you're running tight to you know, the
line of scrimmage, you can't tell if that DB's you know,
in coverage, you're coming after you should bread them out
and then then he's got to give himself away. So
you know, there's a couple of things with the way
(11:55):
that they did things that I wonder, you know, I
wonder if there will be an evolution that this year
or if it's going to continue to be sort of
the same thing. One are the Texters points out excuse
me that U And one of the reasons I believe
there's not a lot of preconut motion. They're subbing people
out every play, and you know you're by the time
you're breaking the huddle, it's late. The Broncos one of
the latest teams to break the huddle in the NFL,
(12:17):
and that's after Russell Wilson's gone. Well once again, here's.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
The pushback to that.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Well, last year the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
Were playing with the young quarterback at the position, and
we know the verbiage that Sean Payton has when he's
called in plays, it.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
Is long, right, comes from that West Coast tree, you know,
it's long.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
So it said, well, if it's taken too long to
get to the line of scrimmage and allowing bo to
you know, diagnose some process with the defenses given to him,
then that was the reason why. Because the Broncos got
a lot of penalties right that kind of hurt them,
you know far as draft starters, because they didn't get
(12:57):
to the line in time. There's penalty that kind of
put them behind behind the stick. So I hope that
that is the mindset coming into this year. It's having
a little more emotion. You added Evan Ingram for a reason,
and he he is You're moved tight end, and that's
what he should be.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
He should be a guy that maybe you start off
in line, but you're motioning him out to the you know,
the tip of the spear or the bunch or you know,
whatever you're doing. But I mean, he takes something like
eighty percent of his snaps not in line, So you're
just gonna have to be.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
Yeah, you're gonna have to And you know, I was
talking to Ron Smith about this last season and we
used to kind of go back and forth and I
have a lot of spirited conversations about.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
This, and we both agree.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Just like you, when you run a lot of those
condensed formations, in my opinion, you bring the defenders in
the box and if with you dealing with boben young quarterback,
he now has to wait and look to try to
determine which guy's coming by that time that clock is ticking.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Yeah, it feels to me like if you're gonna run that,
you need a smart cerebral been seeing a ton of
snaps kind of quarterback.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
True breeze if you will, right, right, But.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Putting in a rookie to do that is just to me,
is adding more to their plate than you necessarily have
to do. Yes, it is.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
And being able to open up the formation gives him
an opportunity because when you look at the Broncos offense
and you say, well, from a percentage standpoint, how much
of that was in a shotgun opposed to being on
the center. I would dare to say, without having a
number in front of me, eighty percent of their Broncos
office last season, seventy three to eighty percent might have
(14:30):
been out of the shotgun, right, And I design is
well guys further away from the center.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
It gives him a large.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Amount of time to process the defense, see what guys
are doing. But when you bring everyone in the box,
it makes it difficult in my opinion, And the only
thing if I saw this, my mindset would be different
if you brought guys in and you expanded with your
you know, your offense like you sprayed, like when when
I played against the Pittsburgh stre was they were notorious
(14:59):
for doing that, reducing the formation with Hines Ward only
to kind of spread you out. So now he can
run those kind of bang eight types of plays. But
if the Broncos reduce their formation to run a lot
of toss plays to get Quinn miners out there, I
would having a problem with it because that's a byproduct
of your scheme.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
But we didn't see a lot of that last season.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Yeah, we really didn't.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
And that's that's gonna be It's gonna be interesting to
see how this offense evolves in year two, and I'm
hoping that they will add some things in there so
that it doesn't seem quite as a synachronistic Quinn when
you know, when you're looking at that, and there's a
direct correlation between again pre snap motion, you know, and
and a quarterback's rating, and so you know, for me,
(15:40):
I think that that the Broncos at least need to
look into why philosophically they don't do that, whatever the
reason may be, and see about possibly adding just a
little bit, you know, here and there, just to just
a little dressing just to you know, just heap it out.
Sometimes you want gravy on a potatoes. Sometimes potatoes are good.
Sometimes you lot gravy on that potato. I like sour
cream and chiz o. You dress it up a little bit, right.
I'm just saying, sometimes you gotta put little sub in there.
(16:02):
You can't just eat you know, you know, eat mashed potatoes.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
Salts your grant Smith.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
You got a tweak it just a little, yeah, this tweet,
just a little.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
We got an NFL six pack. We come back, Broncos
Country tonight, those country tonight.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Benjamin al Brod mcferguson the best moustation of the Bisgrand
Smith back there by the glassack Seekers in studio for
the NFL six packs.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Time for the NFL six pack.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
I'm gonna trade the last year insight and inside information
you can't find anywhere else.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
I know the top six NFL headline what.
Speaker 6 (16:40):
Nfl dot Com listed a trade between the Broncos and
Cowboys that saw the Denver Broncos move up to twelve
in order to pursue one of the draft's top offensive
weapons as the trade they would most like to see
on Draft night. How likely do you think it is
the Denver trades up in this year's first round?
Speaker 1 (16:58):
And who do you think it would before?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Whatever?
Speaker 1 (17:04):
The lowest number closest to zero is without actually being zero.
Despite the Peyton aggressiveness.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
I don't believe they will trade him at all. In fact,
I think they'd.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Probably go the other direction if they did move. I
guess I'll throw it an like on Maria and Hampton.
Maybe you think that the Dallas was going to take
him or something, and you trade up for that. I
mean it's they're not in on receiver, so and you
can see that from the receivers that bring it in,
like for the visits. Those are all Day three guys, Like, yeah,
I would just guess running back maybe maybe, like if
(17:33):
Tyler Warren was there, maybe, But I yeah, I do
not see them moving up.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
So that's a no for me, dog because in this case,
if the Broncos were in desperate need of a quarterback,
then yes, that's the conversation. They already have that guy
going into his sophomore year, so any other guy to
any of the position, you can wait for him. I
see the Broncos moving back. I think that is more
(18:00):
of a logical move because you can just pick up
more picks, and we pick up more picks. Guess what
those guys a teamber. So yes, that's the way I
would go ifub.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
As a bountis he is a little evil genius.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
Two.
Speaker 6 (18:14):
Russell Wilson signed with the New York Giants on a
one year, ten point five million dollar deal that could
be worth as much as twenty one million. Now, notably,
unless he hits all those incentives, he's now the lowest
paid starting quarterback not on a rookie contract, surpassing Justin
Fields for that honor.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
That really has.
Speaker 6 (18:34):
Nothing to do with the question, though, Ben, do you
think this is Wilson's last stop or last season.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
In the league.
Speaker 6 (18:39):
And how many games do you think each quarterback presently
in the Giants quarterback room starts next season?
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Well, I mean, it did makes sense that Russell Wilson
would surpassed Justin Yields in that since he shar passed
him in everything last year statistically, being paid, I mean,
look and just everything, just winning it everything really I
last year, I don't know. I think that to bet
largely depends on high place this year to do system
for him. They do have plenty of weapons for the question,
(19:08):
really is that offensive line. I think Russ probably starts
ten plus games for the Giants this year. I don't
think Jamis will start any unless Russ get hurt. And
maybe if they draft Shador, he would start a few
games if they were eliminated or whatever, just to see,
you know, kind of what you got there.
Speaker 6 (19:26):
But I think Russ would start Temples Skins, so you
think he'd be kind of behind Shador.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
If they drafted someone, they'd be behind Russ and the
attacking or Russ will be the starting quarterback Week one
for the New York Giants unless he is hurt.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
I do believe that this would be the last stop
for a guy like Russell Wilson, because.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Everyone has that time where the game waves.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
You could buy unless you are Kirk Cousins, who happens
to play in the same system in your entire career,
then that's different. But with Russell, yeah, things are drawing
to a clo But for me, what better guy to
lee the Giants and lee Schador if he's picked by
the Giants other than the guy by.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
The name of Russell Wilson.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
So unlike you, I know how difficult this was for you,
Zach Seegers, but I like this play for the Giants,
and I like to play even more if they draft
us Shador Sanders.
Speaker 6 (20:21):
Certainly, I mean that's a rough media market in New York,
But I mean Russell's dealt with his fair share of
media firestorms. I mean, Bender's not the toughest media market,
but he was not very popular I think towards the
end here, and I think he can maybe help Shador
with some wisdom on that.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Giants do come to Denver to play this year, By.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
The way, interesting so you get a chance to bully
him like you've always wanted to.
Speaker 6 (20:44):
Is that I'm just curious it's been made the Russell
Wilson is a giant joke yet, because if not, I
will there's a there's a joke.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Russell Wilson being a giant.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
I don't understand.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Okay, then I cracked, ID do it? I look, the
only thing we changed with it is you were talking
about compare.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
The salaries of him and Justin Fields.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
I just don't think you compare a starter's salary like
Rush to a backups like Justin Fields. I mean unless
the backups is bigger to Rod too. Unlimited, Yeah, you
gotta be unlimited, knowing better than this.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
I'm just praying for the Lord to deliver me from
pig sixes three.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
That's what heard our sweetide.
Speaker 6 (21:29):
I want to be able to hear that quarterback room
man that that's say competitive pray. If they drafts your doors,
it gets even better. Pokina, I've never heard a player
say this before. I don't think or make this declaration
ahead of time, but Pokinakua said in an interview today
(21:51):
that he hopes to retire at age thirty, limiting his
career to just eight.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Or nine season.
Speaker 6 (21:55):
I shouldn't say just but limiting his career to eight
or nine seasons. He doesn't want to play more than that.
Nikoua cited wanting to be healthy, to spend time with
his family, and wanting to go out on the top
of his game as two of his primary reasons for
desiring or wanting to.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Cap his career. I guess it's probably the right way
to say it.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
What do you make of Nikoua's decision slash declaration on
this front?
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Well, I mean, if that's his thing, that's his thing.
Who am I to you know, who am I to
sit there and nitpick his life plan if that's what
he wants to do. I think a lot of people
are sort of fascinated by people that put a plan
on a career like that. For instance, Uh, Quentin Tarantino
came out a long time ago said I don't want
to do ten movies, Say guess what I'm gonna do.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
This is gonna be my number.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
That's it, And people couldn't believe that, And that's basically
what he's done. He's got like one left in him
and that that'll be the last movie, and that'll be
it for pooking a cool. I mean a little bit
different being a movie director than beat a football player.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
But I think if you if you set limits for.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Yourself, you say this is what I want to do
before I move on to the next phase.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
More power to who am I to judge on that.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
I can understand pook Nikool is saying what he's saying
because we know this is a bootle game.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
You get beat up.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
And he plays a wide receive position because he has
several guys aiming for his head. He will have that
this year, even with Devonte Adams opposite him.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
But I really kind of admire.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
Him for this because he's got this plan. He said
that I'm only I only want to play to this
point and also I want to go out on top
how many former players that we've seen play a tabit
too long, especially in boxing.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
So I like this idea, and uh, I mean good
for him.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (23:27):
Not long ago, receivers would have been signing for twenty
million dollars a year at the top of the market
like two or three years ago. Now when Nakuma signs
that extension will probably be north of forty million.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
I think that also makes it.
Speaker 6 (23:38):
A little easier, which I think is a good thing
for him to kind of have that leaning to.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
Change your mind.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Yeah, I'm saying that's one of those. It was funny
where Tullus Shelby Harris when he was there earlier, is
you know, I'll play one more year or whatever, and
then he said, well get off.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
The money keeps getting off of him.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
You take it. Four.
Speaker 6 (23:58):
According to Adam Schefter, the NFC Titans have progressively fallen
more and more in love with Miami quarterback cam Ward
and they are now expecting an even larger haul in
return for the number one overall pick than they were previously.
Do you believe this report that the Titans are falling
for cam.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Ward and it's even more expensive to.
Speaker 6 (24:19):
Move up now or do you think this is then
playing hard to get and trying to drum up a
market for the number one pick.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Well, if you're in love with the player, then it
doesn't matter like you can't get up.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
To the boy.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Why are they putting it out there. I'm not sure
they are, but I will say this, they liked cam
Ward the entire process. I knew that they liked it.
Bill Carter as well. I think is they've just got
to know the quarterback and everything else. That's that's kind
of been the thing and that when you get around somebody,
sometimes you like them, sometimes you don't. I think the
Giants back at the combine felt like they had a deal.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
To be able to get to one.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
They felt pretty strongly about that, and I would say
that based on some recent conversations I've had, they don't
feel that same way. So that would indicate to me
the Tennessee's kind of falling in love with cam Ward
and I'm really kind of expecting cam Ward to go
want and a dual car to go to in this
coming draft.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Yeah, I think the Titans are being really solid on
this point because once again, there are not too many
teams out there that really need quarterbacks. So what they're
seeing for cam I mean, they sent their an entire
staff down to Miaman the other day the watching workout,
So I think they're all all cam and I think
that might be a great fit for him and Tennessee five.
Speaker 6 (25:30):
This past week, regarding his the historic just departure from
the New England Patriots, Tom Brady wrote in a newsletter,
the reality was sorry quote. The reality was after twenty
years together, a natural tension had developed between where Coach
Belichick and I were headed in our careers and where
the Patriots were moving as a franchise. It was the
(25:51):
kind of tension that could only be resolved by some
kind of split or one of us reassessing our priorities.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
End quote.
Speaker 6 (25:59):
Are you rise that this divide was at the heart
of their divorce? And I think, more importantly, what do
you make of Tom's dig about one of us reassessing
our priorities being the potential cured of that situation?
Speaker 2 (26:12):
Well, I don't think it's a dig.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
I mean, I think at the end of the day,
Tom Brady's priority was winning now and Bill Belichick's was like, Okay,
I got to retool this thing, and you know they
were starting to do that. So I don't I don't
necessarily know that's a dig so much as a statement
of fact. You know, Tom Brady would have to give
up on some winning right now as they try to
reassess some things. He'd have to give up on some
financial type stuff.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
I think it goes both ways.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
I think that him saying that about the natural tension,
I think it's that's real life. I mean, think about it.
You know, you have abbs and flows with your best friends.
You know there are times where things are great. There's
sometimes you you know, you irritated with each other for
a little bit, and then you know you have a
beer than your boys again, you know, and there's there's
all kinds of there's all kinds of tension in life,
and you know those kinds of things. I don't think
it's a big of deal. I think it was obvious
to everyone in the outside. I think both those guys
(26:56):
have sort of gotten what they wanted in the end.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
The Tom Brady proved you could obviously do it without
Bill Belichick.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
And Bill Belichick is dating a girl that could be
my daughter.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
Well that's very interesting band that you bring that up.
But I will stick more or less to it was
a power of power struggle. I mean, Bill Belichick was
a guy in charge, and then eventually Brady came into
his own as a guy was drafted late in the
sixth round and started balling out of control. And that
became a problem for Belichick because he could no longer
control Tom, even though he would rate him in front
(27:28):
of the team to kind of somewhat set a message
being one of those throwback coaches.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
But Tom said, you know what, enough is enough.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
I'm not gonna be your your kind of whoopie stick,
and Tom proved and by all accounts he ended up
getting the better of the deal. And say, look, I'm
gonna depart and go somewhere else and I'm still gonna
win the super Bowl. So when people have that question
about who was better or why we won, yeah, they
don't think about me too as they think about you.
Speaker 6 (27:55):
I wonder what a new chapter Bill Belichick can pen,
and this in North Carolina part of his career.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Hopefully it's more than just playing airplane with his girlfriend.
I look, speaking of airplanes, that's what they met on.
Actually was she was twenty years old and he was
strapping sixty eight when they met in twenty twenty one
February of twenty twenty one.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
So should I we track my statement to say maybe
Bill Belichick is winning right now?
Speaker 1 (28:19):
But you know, look, I'm not saying. I'm not not
saying I would say.
Speaker 6 (28:25):
You know, I'll tell the fifty year old's out there,
you know, don't give up hope yet.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Forty four I ever renewed. I've got a yeah, I've
renewed sense of hope. I'm just saying.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Six Panthers quarterback J C.
Speaker 6 (28:38):
Horn said that he believes cornerbacks should be making what
wide receivers are making, if not more, because cornerback is
the most difficult NFL position to play outside of quarterback.
Do you agree with jc's opinion on quarterback's cornerbacks deserving
a wide receiver salary and what do you think are
the hardest positions to play in the league.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Yes, and yes there's a dearth of quarterback talent in
the NFL. There's so many tons of guys can play receiver.
Playing corner is much much more difficult because you're reacting.
It's difficult already just because you're reactive instead of product.
So yes, to answer that question, yes, that's one thing I've.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Always not understood is sort of there's a market inefficiency.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
Why are teams out there paying wide receivers when they
should be paying corners?
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Also this, yes, I agree with that, but not every
corner deserves to be paid a top dollar, right, just
like not every wide receivers just because you can run routes.
Because we know some wide receivers can't run every route
on the road street. So if you are one of
those guys, and I say that, dude like j Z
Horns or PSU. Yeah, you covet that salary because you
(29:48):
can lock down one part of the field. So yes,
if you got great receivers, you got a lockdown. Do
paying that money and put the money in the bag.
I'm paying Patser ten before I pay Jamar Chase.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
I'm paying Sauce Gardener before I'm paying uh Tom and
ross ain't Brown. They're much harder to find those guys are.
There are much fewer, and so that that's the thing,
like it is a market inefficiency, and that's one of
the thing that for all the people who say I
hate Sean Payton, it's one of the things I agree
with on his roster construction. He pays corners and he
doesn't pay receivers, and that's you know, it helps kind
(30:18):
of sort of, you know why, because defense when sappy.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Then the defensive shield is back.
Speaker 6 (30:24):
Yeah, I'm gonna play Devil's advocate really quick. I'm just
because I'm curious about your guys opinion on this counter
to the argument, what do you think about the argument
that maybe you don't pay that top end corner because
defensive coverage is kind of more of a weak link system,
whereas you can dictate sis.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
You have you got an eight top knot pass Russ,
you can settle for mid level corners. If you don't,
you got to be squared away in the back end,
or it's gonna be touchdown city.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
Yeah, I'm paying. I'm paying defense, and if I got
a quarterback, he's gonna elevator body on the offensive side.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
I thank you.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
That's my philosophy, just saying unless you're stuck with like
a Justin Fields, in which case you're not gonna be
elevated at all.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
So you keep taking hills that.
Speaker 4 (31:09):
I thought I'm taking.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
I'm taking the high want to do it?
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Wait, he's learning, does get your stick high road?
Speaker 6 (31:19):
Making forty million over to Russell Wilson if the Stars A.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
Line is making twenty one million over one.
Speaker 6 (31:25):
I just thought to guarantees rus Fields has more guarantees
than Russell Wilson has to say to gain in maxim sentence, and.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
I guarantee that Russ will be better this year than
Justin Field. S's you all guarantee I worried about it.
Make sure you booked that. So we come back to it.
I feel I'm gonna come back to it. We're definitely
you know it just it feels interesting that it took Russ,
you know, fifteen years to become the guy who's been
on three different teams.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
In three years, and Justin Fields is doing that one years.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
It's for him. You're four or five those arguing who
have the better career. I'm just saying you twenty four
compared to twenty fifteen Manning Russell Wilson versus you know,
the guy who should be in his prime that.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Nobody wants and Justin Fields.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Wow, Ben's coming down and laying with the gun. You
gotta slept that out here. I mean, Harold Minor breaking
the cords. Not he doesn't get that reference Harold Miner. Baby,
you know under do.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
You remember Harold Minor?
Speaker 1 (32:25):
I know? Ernest Bner, Oh my god, we're gonna have
class during the break.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Broncos Country Night rolled down.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
We're gonna see the click Clatt Clatten come back
