Speaker 1 (00:00):
This country tonight, it's been all bright mcferguson Grand Smith
Factor five six sixty nine zero is the text line.
Thanks to me well for joining us in the last segment,
as well as Mark Johnson for joining us earlier Misseday,
part of that God Broncos Country dot Com Slash podcast
got into this segment. I teased it off a little
bit when we were closing there in the last segment
and one thing you guys wanted to talk about a
(00:21):
little bit, Grant, I think, but I believe it was
you specifically who broached this in the group chat. By
the way, if you if you accidentally were added to
the group chat and we sent you classified show information.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
I was wondering when you fire to make a joke
about that. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Look, as much as I don't want to get into
the political scandal that is Whiskey leaks, I would prefer
first thing this. But you said one thing you're grateful
for today could be sports of personal life. You talked
about this in the uh uh in the group uh
group chat a little bit earlier, and you know, I
got to think about it, and I was like, all right,
let's let's let's go with it. Grant, so you wanted,
you wanted to get into this go ahead, and uh yeah,
(00:58):
well for us, you know, you had that heart breaking
loss for your Arkansas Razorbacks last night, blowing that sixteen
point lead.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
More of a soul crushing loss than rushing heartbreaking. I
broke it as a man.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Your heart is already broken, so we have to go
with another thing, your soul now.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
But yeah, so I.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
Wanted to help bring you some positivity on a Friday night,
what you're feeling good about in life? And I thought
I was just sitting there thinking today after I took
my friend's dog for a walk. I've been dog sitting
in the last couple of days, and I was just
thinking how nice it.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Was to go outside and view the world through the.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Dog's eyes and just you know, watch him and investigate everything.
And I was thinking how grateful I was to have
friends that take care of me when I need help
with things, and how lucky I am to be able
to help them out when they need help with things.
So I just thought I wanted to share what I
was grateful for today, and that's some of the relationships
in my life and in the sports world. It's March
Madness man, this is my favorite sports time of the year.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
I got it.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
I was lucky enough to go cover some.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Of the games for KAA last week when they were
here in Denver, and it's just my favorite sports time
of the year. And I was just sitting there today
thinking about how lucky I am to get to live
this life where I talk sports for a living and
make fun of you guys and also have some great
friends around. So I was just feeling grateful today and
wanted to help spread some positive positivity to people, maybe
(02:15):
if they weren't feeling quite as positive, if they had.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
A soul crushing loss in their lives.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yeah, I'm with you on that.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
One thing I'm thankful for right now is the temperate
environment that he's in the.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Studio, eighty degrees in there.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
You know, Well, the whole point of this is a
tweak at our boss, Dave temper a little bit.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Thankfully I don't have to sit here complaining.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
It was so funny because like when we met there
was talking about like I could hear I could hear
his almost Bill Burr esque, you know, kind of like
rat making fun of us for complaining a little bit.
You know what, you guys, can't handle a moderately warm studio.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Well, he came in during the break the other night
when it was eighty degrees in there, and he's the
first thing he said to me, because you guys had
both walked out, and I was like, he's like, where
where Ben and Nick? Where there's big babies that complaining?
I said, well, it's too damn hot in the studio
and I.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Hadn't walk out for a minute. And that was not
the answer he wanted to hear.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
Oh yeah, no it was.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
I mean it was a little bit warming, it's like
eighty five degrees, but still it was.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
I mean, as we're sitting there, you know, grousing about that,
you know, for the job that we have to do
for three hours at night, sitting here talking on the air,
and then I'm thinking about the guy you know who's
uh who just got that roofing houses, you know, all
day driving home listening to this out of our voice,
you know, one of these guys complained about Oh absolutely,
but it was I still thought that was a great thing.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Well, the standard is the standard.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
It is just but it's nice. It's nicely cool here.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Now. I don't know things.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
I'm thankful for man, I'm thankful I get to do this.
I'm thankful that I get to you know, I get
to do this. There are a lot worse things I
could be doing than have done. God knows, you know,
It's it's one of those things.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
I'm thankful. I'm you know, I'm mostly healthy.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
I'm I'm mostly I'm a lot better than I was
in a mental place a few years ago.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Therapy can work, wonders, fellas. I'm telling you, like, we don't.
I come from the.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
South and a gen x er.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
We don't talk about that enough probably, but you get
the therapy for yourself, the hell of the thing, man,
and it can I mean, they're they're just talking to
somebody can help, uh, you know, untangle some of those
knots you've got going on up there and help help
straighten things out for you a little bit there.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
You know, I get to I get to cover a
sport that I revere.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Maybe I I you know, maybe I wasn't able to
play it because of you know, my body size or
you know some people say talent uh to a certain
to a certain level. But you know, I like I
get to be around it still. I love the game
of football. You know, people we talk, we joke about
this stuff all the time, and I'm sure there's people
because I grew up in Kansas City at times that
people think about a Chiefs fan.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
But like's not. I'm not a fan of any team.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
I'm a fan of the game. I love the game
of football.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
I love everything about it and get the fact that
I get to cover that on a nightly basis and
they pay me for it.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
That does not mean start holding money on my check
Dave Temper.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
The fact that they pay me for it is still
I think.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Blows my mind.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
If you had asked me twenty years ago if I
would be doing this, There's no way I would have
said that. I mean twenty years ago, I was in
a totally different headspace and a totally different place.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Right twenty years ago, I was coming off.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
With my second tour in Iraq, starting up starting up
at a tech business. You know, I was not in
any way even tangentially headed towards this industry. The thought
of living in Denver, Colorado was not something that was
in my mind at that point. And so being where
I am now, I think everything that added up to
(05:39):
put me here are just all things that I'm thankful for,
the good and the bad, because they all add up
to put you where you are.
Speaker 6 (05:46):
Usually when we started talking about what we're thankful for,
usually that comes in the fall months and around the
Thanksgiving holiday. But I think it's great for all of
us once in a while to just kind of take
step back right as I was so growing up, smell
the roses and just kind of look at things for
(06:07):
where they are. And I know there are a lot
of individuals who may feel as though they're not really
where they want to be or they should be at
this period in their life. And sometimes when you start
looking at things in that particular way, you start to
doubt yourself. You start to kind of look inward and
just say, well, hey, maybe I'm a failure. No, you're
(06:29):
not a failure, because if you were to compare your
life to someone else, you would quickly realize that you're
not in as bad of a shape far as situational wise,
as you think that you are.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
And we need to do more of validating.
Speaker 6 (06:45):
Ourselves because you know, not to go off on a tangent,
but it is Friday, and I think it's worth letting
people know because there's someone out there listening to us
right now. Either they are in the warehouse, they're on
their drop into their second and third job, they're in
their car right now trying to figure out life.
Speaker 5 (07:05):
But we have to.
Speaker 6 (07:06):
Validate ourselves every once in a while, because life gives
us all the kick in the pants right where we
start to think that we're not good enough. But start
thinking about the things that you've done in your life.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
That's worth noting.
Speaker 6 (07:20):
And because we live in a society that constantly tell
us about what we can't do, what's not possible, sometimes
we fall into.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
But we got to remember what it.
Speaker 6 (07:30):
Is that we have done to this particular point and
just think about all the great things and the great
people that we've come across in our lives and give
ourselves credit.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Well to take that a step further, I'm like, for
both of you guys, you know, I mean it really,
it's fun.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
You make work fun, it's not work.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
I get to come in and hang out with a
former NFL player and we get to sit there and
debate the topics of the day. I got the guy
with the most fire mustache on the planet sitting back
there every day, Like man, if I could grow that
Wilfer Brindley, I would. I just said, you know, it
really is a median and I'll say this now, I'll
kind of tell myself a little bit here. Grant made
not know this, but like every day I come in
(08:06):
when I get here, I get here a little bit
before I'm supposed to be here for show min money,
And the first thing I do is I go sit
in there in there and I eat.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
I go because Grant's run on the board back there,
and I go sit in there with Grant.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
I just kind of like, you take all your food
in there and tell me with the fact that I
didn't bring to.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Me and no, but I got to all I did
smell really good. I better if I texted you, but
I didn't after I'd already picked it up today.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
So but no, I go in there because I want
to hang around Grant.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
For a minute.
Speaker 6 (08:29):
He said.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Grant is such a positive person, like you can't help.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
But like even if I'm like if I'm dreading, and
I don't say IM dreading doing a show, but there
are times where you're like, oh, I got you know,
I got three hours of stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
I gotta talk for.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Three hours tonight.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Sometimes it you know it wears on you a little.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
It not that that's something to complain about it, but
going in there and get that effervescent attitude every day.
I tell you, that's my routine, my rituals to go
in there and annoy grant for you know, fifteen minutes
so that I can I can pick myself up a little.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
And yeah, and you do annoy me sometime, but you
have to remember. I think this is a great message
for everybody to hear. Positivity is a choice. Like it's
not all roses in my life all the time, But
you get to choose. You don't get to choose what
happens to you. You get to choose how you react to
what happens to you. And that's a big powerful thing
we have as humans that I think we forget a
(09:15):
lot of the time because it's very easy to fall
into the woe is me trap. But you get to
choose how you react to what happens to you. You
don't get to choose what happens to you. So I think,
why not choose positivity nine times out of ten?
Speaker 6 (09:27):
Do you know what I'm bring I think that's a
great positive message to relate to so many people.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
Because I would always get.
Speaker 6 (09:34):
Asked a question, you know, why is it that I
am so happy go lucky now? But my wife is
I mean, really's uber uber happy go lucky. But for me,
I'm happy, And I tried to keep a positive smile
and outlook because for me, I woke up this morning
right there, every day above the ground is an opportunity
(09:56):
to change life. Like I mean, my father right now
now is a retired longshoreman and now he's in his
position where he worked all his life, always worked hard.
As a kid growing up, I rarely saw him as
much as I wanted to because he was constantly working,
trying to provide. So now he's retired and he's just
taking this approach like, oh, I'm retired, that's it. I'm lounging.
(10:19):
I'm not doing anything. But I have to remind him. Look, man, dude,
you're a religious guy. God gives you an opportunity to
wake up every single morning. Take that as a blessing
to go out and change your life. And if you
don't want to feel like changing yours, go change someone
else's life by doing something positive. And I think what
we're talking about right now, I have to say there
are not too many shows that actually talk.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
About things of this nature.
Speaker 6 (10:44):
But we need to make sure that once again, I
go back to this being able to validate ourselves for
what it is that we do, because if we fall
into that rut where we start self loathing, then that's
a huge impact on so many people in our lives.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
And I've been there, I like, in the interest of
old disclosure up in there, I've struggled with that over
the course of my life, in intense self loathing, you know,
as far as that goes, I think people who know
me behind the scenes, you know, know me for trying
to sling a quick joke here or there and.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
That kind of stuff.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
But a lot of that is defense mechanism stuff, you know,
or personal things.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
And I don't want to get too deep in the
weeds on that, but I think it's great that you've
had such a passion for men's mental health, you know,
and that's that's that's helped me, like make me personally
some I picked up from you, and it's helped me
personally on several levels. Uh So thank you for that,
first of all, But on a larger level, I love
the fact that we get to do that on this show, Like,
we don't have to always just stick to sports. Sometimes
(11:37):
we can say, hey, dude, you've got a problem. Five six,
six times it was a text line. Man, you got
a problem. I can see your number when you text me,
or I don't know your name. You got something you
want to get off your mind? Man? Just say hey, hey, bro,
you know setting up a flare here. I need a
little a little word of encouragement for it. We need
to be better about that. As men, we need to
be better about uh, you know, because we carry those
loads in silence. Women have figured out over the years,
whether that's evolution, whether it's whatever, they figured out ways
(11:59):
to express themselves.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Emotionally, you know, to each other.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
As men, we have not really conquered the market on
that very well. It's it's rough and a lot of times,
you know, we we find ways to make fun of
each other.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
For that.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
I want to be, you know, in this the forty
fourth year of my life, I want to be the
person that's lifting other people up.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
I always want to be lifting other people up around me.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
And so if you ever need to reach out to
this show, we'd love to hear from you.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
You know, you can always text us.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
You know where to find us on the social stuff,
I gets sent up a flair man, We're here.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
We are here to help with that.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
You know.
Speaker 6 (12:26):
That's why I love doing the show, because I mean,
we get talkbacks, we get people who respond to.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Us on social media, and we have some right now.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
I look on the text line and we get people
respawn on the text line, and it's bigger than just sports.
But sports is one of those things that no matter
what walk of life you come from, no matter your
socioeconomic background, we have something that brings us together. That's
kind of our common ground. That's why going to Broncos
games on Sunday, I see so many fans who I
(12:54):
never knew were I either Nick Ferguson frans or Broncos fans.
But I get a chance to inner rack with them,
and I walk out amongst the fans and because for me,
it's like those are my people.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Yeah, it's it is the fur delicious faithful out there.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Say they hold the signs of obs.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Kid, but we got We're gonna.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Get You're all about the alliterations, and I'm loving it,
delicious faithful everyone's.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
While I have a theme tonight, it was alliteration. Uh,
but you know, laughably ludicrous. We got that one in earlier.
I got a few of them. No, and I love
the fact we get to do this sometimes. First, first second,
just sit there and just just chill out for a minute.
We gotta we had a bunch of exciting stuff coming up.
You know, the Nuggets are about to to play offs,
you know, playing well, we've got to see us in
(13:43):
whatever that basketball tournament is. I'm sorry, college basketball crap,
that's the one.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
The Broncos got the draft coming. We got plenty of
exciting sports stuff, Rocky seasons. Maybe we said exciting stuff.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
I'm kiddy, I'm.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Kiddy, I'm kidding. I'm sorry, Rockies. I'm sorry I had
to do it the first time.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
You had to do it.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
You've you've burned.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Me too many times.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
We had a lot of exciting stuff.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Coming up, and so it's nice to be able to
kind of take a moment and hit the pause button
real quick before we're before we're doing all that, and
and go ahead.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
No, h if you have anything.
Speaker 6 (14:11):
On the text line that someone's sending in, man, please
uh you know, feel free to you know, throw us
at your comments.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
Man, we are definitely here for you.
Speaker 6 (14:19):
We we want to definitely on a Friday look at
our you know, the show as being more than just
a sports show. It's it's family and we should have
the ability to share and exchange viewpoints even if we disagree,
which Ben and I sometimes disagree.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
And me and Broncos Country frequently disagree. Has some if
you've ever seen my player account, But I appreciate that
several of you guys are grateful for Broncos Country the night.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Uh seven to two ove been real men in therapy.
They're not scared to be sensit enough to get in
their minds.
Speaker 5 (14:48):
Rock on, brother.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Yeah, I appreciate all that kind of stuff, But we just
wanted to say. We wanted to say from us to you.
First of all, we're thankful for all you guys do.
We wouldn't be on the air without you guys, Without
you guys listening, we'd just be two dudes that heard
about stuff, and that'd be kind of weird.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
So we appreciate you guys listen. We appreciate what you
do for us, and.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
If you ever need anything, uh, as part of the
Broncos Country Tonight family, you know, five six six nine
text line. You guys can find our email addresses, you
know where to find on social media, send up a
flair and uh and we want to we want to
create a community that's uh, that's supportive of each other.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
And with that, uh, maybe we can wash it down
with a tall, cool six pack.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Next on Broncos Country Tonight.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Going back to a Broncos Country Tonight, Benjamin Albright, Nick Ferguson,
krat Smith. Thanks to all the texts that came out,
all the text line, We appreciate you guys.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Five six, six nine Jones text line, Zack Seegers in studio.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
I'm gonna do ITNNL six pack. It's time for the
NFL six pack.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
I'm gonna trade the last yearn insight and insight information
you can't find anywhere else.
Speaker 6 (15:48):
No.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
Six the top six NFL headlines.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
What Jackson Dark? How does pro day today?
Speaker 7 (15:57):
And his stock seemingly just keeps rising as the NFL
Draft approaches. How high do you think Jackson Dark will
go in this year's draft? And what teams do you
think might be interested?
Speaker 1 (16:06):
I really thought you were gonna say how high does
the team have to be to draft him? Look, I
think there's a team out there hoping to hit the
bulls eye with Jackson Dark.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
But uh uh, my guest would be the Saints. Uh
maybe the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
The Saints and the Steelers I think would be U
and anywhere in the teams to twenties.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
He's gonna go first round. The question is, you know
is where.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
I have There has been some intel lately if from
people have had that the schidor thing might be slipping
a little bit. But I could see a team like
the Giants are Browns coming back up to get him,
whether that's into the teams, But I don't think he's.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Gonna at three at this point.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
I think the Giants are starting to circle Travis Handy
at three. So it's gonna be interesting to see where
that that sort of shakes out. As far as Dark goes, man,
I mean he's gonna go in the first round, probably
Saints or Steelers.
Speaker 6 (16:52):
It's interesting every single year there's always this debate, uh
with with quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Someone's stop rising, some one stock falling.
Speaker 5 (17:01):
So the idea of I.
Speaker 6 (17:02):
Was Jackson's dark stock actually rising.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Oh I'm sorry, it is.
Speaker 6 (17:07):
The conversation about Dak Jackson Dark actually increasing. While we're
hearing you know narratives about Shador Sanders and.
Speaker 5 (17:15):
His stock falling.
Speaker 6 (17:17):
To me, all of that is a bunch of cow chips,
right and for me, I want this thing to fall.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
Out the way that it should.
Speaker 6 (17:25):
I don't think you have to put one player down
to elevate another. But this whole thing about stock rising
stock falling is all the best based on the level
of competition, a conversation that increased with these individual players.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Yeah, I go step further with that. There's no stock
rising or falling. It's just media and fans catching up
to the NFL's opinion. In some cases that it doesn't even.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
Make any sense.
Speaker 7 (17:48):
You mentioned the Saints and Steelers, is two teams that
might be interested. In an ESPN article that came out today,
the Rams were also listed as a possibility by the
insiders as a team that they thought would make some sense.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
What's possibility?
Speaker 1 (17:59):
I I would be surprised if it wasn't the Saints
or Steelers, but the Rams are buried.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
That mix two.
Speaker 7 (18:08):
UFL action starts tonight as the Saint Louis BattleHawks take
on the Houston Roughnecks. Are you all excited for this
spring's UFL season?
Speaker 2 (18:19):
And what do you think about.
Speaker 7 (18:20):
The Birmingham Stallions quest for the elusive.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
For it P Well, let me first of all, I'm excited.
I'm always excited when this football love the game. Second
of all, shout out to my boy Luis Perez, quarterback
who just dropped his new book. If you guys want
to go pick that up, I think I put a
tweet about it earlier today, you guys could go out
there check that out. Louise Perez a guy who taught
himself how to play quarterback.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
By watching YouTube videos. He was a professional bowler.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
He was a bowler, and very very good bowler by
the way, like an incredibly good bowler. But he was
a guy woaught himself how to play quarterback and YouTube videos.
Never started a meaningful game in high school, got to
college and was a seventh stringer, and then everybody either
got academically illeligible or hurt in front of him, and
wound up winning the what was it, the D two

and e Commerce and becoming what most people call the
Spring King, which is the type of this book, as
he has won in the AA F X FL T
S l U f L.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Basically anywhere where U s f L, anywhere there is.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
To uh to, he's he's played it.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
And he's also got a cup of coffee with both
the Chargers and the Rams, so he's he's been in
the NFL as well.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
But shout out to WISP as far as the UFI goes.
You gotta love football.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
I'm gonna watch it. Matter of fact, I've been watching it.
It's on the get TV over your head right there.
He's the Roughnecks in Saint Louis. Anthony Beckt a former
teammate of Knicks. He's the coach of the Saint Louis
battle Hawks. I've known Anthony for about a decade or so.
I knew him after after you guys were teammates. But
uh yeah, it's uh, it's football, man, but int like football.
Speaker 6 (19:47):
Yeah, I'm gonna watch because I want to see if
the Stallions are going to repeat. There's a coach, Mike Jones,
who's the Stallion's wide receiver. Coach Mike Jones, and we
talk every single season and I rooted them on, so.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
That'd be interesting to see if they could do that.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
Now, there's a guy by the name of Corey Chamberlain,
who's their DC.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Now it's a familiar name for.
Speaker 6 (20:10):
Me because Corey and I came into the Denver Broncos
organization together. Corey didn't make it out of camp, but
to see that he's moved on and he has an
opportunity to win as many games as the Stallions am.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
To man, that's dope, and I'm going to be room
for that this season.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
That's really far out the Broncos.
Speaker 7 (20:28):
Do you think I mean, they got Dedrea Toeman last
year from the UFL, pretty impactful signing that no one
saw coming. Do you think they could go back to
that well this offseason?
Speaker 3 (20:38):
Absolutely, there are good players in the UFL.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
If the Broncos had several players who played in what
is now the UFL before it was whether it was
the Alliance of American Football USFL or the XFL as
those excuse me because sort of either he came to
FUNK or merged. There have been players that have come
out of that played with the Broncos, and so yeah,
I absolutely believe they'll continue to scout those things, looked
to see, you know, what they can find and maybe
(21:03):
maybe gets by the way Frank Crumb went to the
UFL briefly so the Broncos offense to tech thry.
Speaker 7 (21:11):
The Olympics set announced that this year's flag football event
will be held at Exposition Park in Los Angeles, which
is Caddy corner to the Coliseum, but it is not
the Coliseum. And they also chose Exposition Park over the
Rose Bowl and Sofi Stadium.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
What do you think of this selection? And if you
could choose any stadium in the US.
Speaker 7 (21:32):
I know, obviously for this Olympics that's locked in Los Angeles,
But if there were no restrictions, what US stadium would
you like to see Olympic football played in?
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Oh Man, all of them?
Speaker 1 (21:44):
I mean, I'm interested to see how this works out.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
What's the capacity there?
Speaker 5 (21:48):
Do we know?
Speaker 7 (21:50):
I will get that up for you quick. It's smaller,
it's something like ten thousand. Yeah, it's interesting because I.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
Feel like that.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
I mean, maybe they want to have everything appear to
be sold out and they're worried that maybe the Duroe's
Bowl or something like that wouldn't be conducive to that.
I don't know, but yeah, I'm excited about I'm excited
to see the flag football thing. Certainly interesting, going to
be interesting to see obviously, I think as the United States,
we're expecting gold here, even if.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
It's not guys that we all that we necessarily know
twenty two thousand.
Speaker 7 (22:22):
I want the Kevin Durant moment of you know, is
that chemistry gonna help you when you need a guard
justin Jefferson?
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Yeah, I mean yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
I mean there's different rules in that game, and you
might have an NFL mentality playing flag football.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
You know.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
See, if there was a stadium out there that I
would love to see, it would be so fun because
just kind of so far as an updated stadium, just
kind of looking at what they have done inside concession stands,
it's just a beautiful stadium when you look at it
outside and in. But also if you were to add
former or current NFL players in those flag football Olympic games,
(22:59):
is going to tice more people to watch, because just
think about it, if you aren't average Joe, you missed
your window in high school and you get a chance
to kind of put an NFL player on skates, trust me,
everyone wants to see that one. So look, I would
love to see it happens, and so far would be
the perfect stating for it.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
I can't wait for it.
Speaker 7 (23:18):
I'm so excited to see what the roster looks like
on the NFL end because how NFL heavy is it
going to be? Are they going to go college players
flag professional flag players.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
I'm curious to see that. That's you, That is the question.
I'm certainly interested to see it.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
By the way, I forgot to mention earlier I mentioned
Anthony Backs Wade Philis is a coach.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
To Houston refics they're poor. You'll tell Stoops too. They've
got a number of oh.
Speaker 7 (23:39):
And then Lou Holtz his kids Skip Poles, is the
head coach of the dynastic Birmingham Stoyle.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
He's about to get another job somewhere else.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Excited for me. He deserves it, it seems.
Speaker 7 (23:48):
Commenting on the prospect of playing with Drake may Stefan
Diggs said today, I really look.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Forward to it.
Speaker 7 (23:55):
It's crazy because when you ask around, he has a
lot of similarities. People say through the grape he acts
a lot like Josh Allen. That is that was my guy,
So I look forward to meeting and connecting with him.
How do you think the May Diggs connection will compare
to the Allen Diggs connection that we saw be so
productive in Buffalo. Well, Digs in the same player that
he was, you know. Then hopefully Diggs has grown up
(24:19):
a little bit.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
You know, I think there are some things that he
had a little meche on in him for a little
while there, and I'm hoping that he's growing past that.
Hopefully can be a mentor for a lot of those
young guys that I think young offense. Hopefully he can
be a guy to, you know, to to instill the
work ethic that's necessary to be great in this league.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
You know, I hope those things.
Speaker 6 (24:41):
I think it's a great thing that everything was going
to hinge on the offensive coordinator and Josh mcdangs. Can't
he make this chemistry actually work between the two because
it always goes back to are you setting your quarterback
up by excellent play calls that would determine the success
of the quarterback?
Speaker 2 (24:59):
And why was so for me?
Speaker 6 (25:01):
I know Diggs has lost a step, but he's still
one hell of a rock run.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
In this league.
Speaker 6 (25:05):
Drake may show last year that he is definitely well
of that first round draft pick, but everything hinges on
the offensive coordinator and Josh McDaniels, which he's not a
very like person around these parts.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Yeah, I'm excited to see how that goes.
Speaker 7 (25:20):
If Josh McDaniels, that is, can rebuild his legacy or
his name and get back into the league some and.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
What Drake May is going to become.
Speaker 7 (25:28):
I think what we saw flashes of last year was
really exciting, but you know, completely new offense and he
needs a lot of help around him.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
Top five.
Speaker 7 (25:38):
The Ravens have signed John Harbaugh to a three year
contract extension. Are you surprised John Harbaugh hasn't gotten more
heat over these past few seasons, considering he's had similar
success to Mike Tomlin over this past decade. Just to
give you the numbers here, both teams have only made
it to one conference championship over the past ten years,
(25:59):
and the raven have a three and six postseason record
while the Steelers have a three and seven postseason record
over the last decade. Do you think he deserves more criticism?
Speaker 1 (26:09):
I mean, John Harbaugh has won double digit game six
of the last seven seasons, and I think that fair
or not. Lamar Jackson has taken most of the heat
in terms of the Ravens not winning playoff games. I
know he hasn't won a super Bowl since twenty twelve.
(26:30):
But you know they've They've been a pretty consistent organization.
I think the number of losing seasons he's had his
entire career is one. I want to say twenty fifteen
was the only time Baltimore was underwater with him. I
think this extension is a put up or shut up moment,
though I think it's I think this extension is we're
giving you this money, now we expect these results because
I don't think he'll get another one with the with
(26:52):
the current trend of just.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
You know, getting in the playoffs and then losing. I
think this is a.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
Smart move by the Baltimore Ravens because when you look
at coaches who have long ten year in the NFL,
Harbaugh is one of those and Mike Tomlin and those
two guys somewhat canceled out one another when it comes
to who makes the playoffs, and it's just kind of
unfortunate as a football fan, you got to watch these
two teams face off against one another in the playoffs
(27:16):
and within the division. But you have to make sure,
like you keep your top players, you got to keep
your top coaches. And based on how Harbaugh has his
coaches and think about Mike McDonald is former defensive coordinator,
is a head coach with the Seattle Seahawks. So that
says something about coach Harbaugh what he's done to kind
of uplift that Ravens organization.
Speaker 7 (27:38):
Yeah, I think it's smart to not let him go.
We're talking about two of the best coaches in the game.
They quickly be scooped up by anyone else. And that said,
I do think it's surprising that he hasn't gotten more
criticism like Tomlin, at least just because I think the
resumes are so similar and Harbaugh's had the benefit of
better quarterback playing, I think better rosters over these past
few seasons.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
I think for me, the thing that that he should
get more criticism for. Here's the way that he came
out and so we would tolerate what Deshaun Watson did
and then turned around and Justin Tucker still on that roster.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Yeah, he said zero tolerance policy. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (28:14):
Meanwhile, what I say, innoceistant, too proven, guilty, be guilty six.
Speaker 7 (28:22):
At a point, there's a lot of people an Abdul
Carter said today those when sorry, I think it his
pro day. Those great defensive players. You look in the history,
they can impact the game just as much as a quarterback.
There's been defensive players who've taken over a game right
at the end of a Super Bowl, in those playoff
scenes where you really need that great defensive player, and
(28:44):
he also makes people around him better. So I feel
like just saying that, seeing how defensive players can take
over a game, we're just.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Like a quarterback.
Speaker 7 (28:52):
What do you make of Carter's comments about the value
of defensive positions and which active defensive players do you
think either quarterbacks value or come closest to approximating.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
It's that's a good question. Let's start with the first
part of that. I think he is onto something. I
think quarterback is still inherently more valuable, just because the
league is so tilted towards offense that the ability to
score points is even more valuable than the ability to
stop points. Much as I love good defensive teams, you know,
(29:24):
and certainly they can appreciate great defenses as far as
players that do that, I mean guys like you know,
I think be going to point the guys like Miles
Garrett or Patsick Tam and I would suggest that probably
if we look at through a Broncos lens. Somebody that
adds that value that may not get talked about enough
is Zach Allen. What he does upfront in terms of
commanding double teams, tying up blockers so the guys could
rush the passer, rushing the passer himself, those kinds of things.
(29:46):
I think that is very valuable. I think he's probably
one of the most valuable players on the team, and
I would say that that the value that he brings
allows everyone.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Else to thrive.
Speaker 6 (29:57):
If you're going to talk about the value of quarterbacks,
which this league has just grown a parent of doing
and they kind of pushing that narrative, then you have
to talk about the guys who are closer to the
line of scrimmers that impact them the quickest, and those
are edge rushers. You imagine, if I ask you if
you wanted to be a Phil Sims or Paid Manning,
or you wanted to be Lawrence Taylor, which guy would
you say you.
Speaker 5 (30:17):
Want to be.
Speaker 7 (30:18):
I'll be Lawrence Taylor. I don't want to be hit
by Lawrence Taylor exactly.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
That's the whole thing.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
Those guys, those edge rushers, those are your great neutralizers
to the game. If you have two good edge rushers,
to me, you're gonna make life miserable for any quarterback
and any offensive coordinators.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
And Jacy Horn said it himself.
Speaker 6 (30:35):
If you're gonna pay wide receivers top dollars, you should
pay corners top corners that type.
Speaker 5 (30:40):
Of money as well. And I definitely agree with that.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
Yeah, if you're taking away their ability to do that,
and you're consistently doing that, there is something.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
There should be a premium.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Honestly, it should be the other way for positions like
that that actually do because there's so few corners that
actually do take a side of the field away.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
There's probably a half dozen of them in the league.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
There's a bunch of there's a decent corners, but there's
probably some. I have six guys that are really shut.
Those guys should be getting paid that kind of money.
You should, you should want that. And there's a dearth
of corner talent in the league as it is, like,
but there are not enough corners for each team to
get out there and field the defense the way they want.
Speaker 6 (31:12):
I'll tell you what, if you draft a quarterback, I've
been drafted pass rusher. I'm gonna neutral as your guy
taking take that piece off the chess table.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
How about that? Yeah, I think it's incredibly valuable.
Speaker 7 (31:25):
And to your point about the defensive players or cornerbacks
and their value, finding a guy likes her tan that
can be year over years so great, is so valuable.
I mean, if you I think there isn't a cornerback
that's eligible for the Hall of Fame with three first
team Alpros that hasn't made it three elite seasons, and
you are one of the very rare few.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
Yeah, And I mean there's been guys over the year.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
I think one guy that gets over I mean everybody
knows about Ritus, but one of the guys that gets
overlooked over the years.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Nomdee awesome. Wee the way he played for a while.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
He had a stretch round there that was.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
It was pretty pretty good.
Speaker 5 (31:57):
He won't tackle.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
Yeah, well of them corners will do that game.
Speaker 5 (32:01):
Vote for a guy won't tackle.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
We got a head coach right now. It catch to
you that you used to be guilty of that.
Speaker 6 (32:05):
Well, but he played that guy to his credit and
coach prompt was a shutdown corner.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Yeah, Downey wasn't exactly that, but he was good.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
He was probably one of the more underrated guys out there.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
In terms of coverage.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
Oh man, yeah, I called it procos Country Tonight.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
Rolls up after this.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
I love the game of football.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
I love it.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
If you ever dream, don't give up on it. Keep
chasing it.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
That huh will you believe
