Speaker 1 (00:00):
Figures back there behind the glass five six six nine
Zero's the text line, you guys want to get involved
in the conversation. Uh had uh had a big long
text coming here from the nine on nine. I don't
want to get into all that, you know, as far
as that kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
What's the it's talking about. What's the best of the minutia?
What do you have there?

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Well, I mean there's there's talking about potential bad blood
between other people in town and stuff. I mean, it's
it's not, but it's there are some things behind the
scenes where you know, people talking behind each other's backs,
and I don't do that.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
I got a microphone right here. You can say stuff
to my face. So yeah, I never understood.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Let me say this very quickly because people think it
happens though the radio, but TV I'm on channel four,
by the way, didn't say that. Make sure you wake
up in the morning you listen to CBS Colorado. You know,
I'm just saying I'm beyond there at five o'clock in
the morning.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
We got we got good friends over there. You're over there,
he's over there. We got friends over there. One of
your friends. You know, I might have a couple of bags.
In my eyes, it is what it is. But I
will be there. But I just don't have time for that.
We're all grown at the end of the day, wall grown.
If you have an issue, say.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Something to what you need to say, get whatever's off
your chest off your chest, and then let's move on.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Because life's too short anyway. Life's too short, and this
business is way too short. Look, I am an equal
opportunity offender too. Like if I'm going to make fun
of somebody, you can make fun of it. You can
make fun of me. I'm here to be roasted. Like
if I say something wrong, I'm here to be roasted.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Man, I'm not.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
I don't hide from it. And so that's that's short
of what that's about. And there's some behind the scenes
stuff and it's whatever, but nonsense. I don't hate anybody.
I don't even dislike anybody. I just dislike when people
talk about my back.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
I got a good question for you.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Out of all the games that you see the Broncos
have on their schedule, okay, obviously you're not going to
flex the Thursday night game, so you know on November sixth,
and also on Christmas Day, you're not flexing those games.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
You're not going to flex the London game.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
It is what it is, right, But other than the
Washington game that you're actually going to play on Sunday
night football, what game can you look on the schedule
and say, let's say the Broncos are that set of
win eight win team or.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
At least on that trajectory.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
What game can you look on the schedule to say, hey,
wait a minute, this will be a game to keep
an eye on to be possibly flexed.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
I think I think you probably look at green Bay
late in the season. The Packers are a good, good team,
then there you go. If Jacksonville is surprises us all
and winds up being a good team under the new
you know, those two to me seem like the most
likely candidates for that. I mean the Chargers game obviously
to end the season. They've got flexibility with that. They're
even a date for it right now, so they got

(02:28):
flexibility for that. Those games would would seem like to
me to be the type that would be flexed.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Maybe maybe at Houston, you.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Know, maybe, But I don't think any game before that
really is one of those one don't I can't remember
what date you can start flexing. I don't think any
of the October games are flexible.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
The other part that people need to realize is that
CBS is not going to let that Dallas Cowboys game go.
That is their game, that is a primetime game. They're
not letting that go, So that game will not be
flex But I agree with you. I think the Houston
Texas cause sneaky be that gay that could be flexed.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Reason whole. I think c J.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Stroud is not going to have the same issues he
had a year ago. He's going to step up and
take that next step. He finally, as you said earlier,
has a better offensive coordinator, has an offensive live like
he's going to have Phays be better for him this year.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
And he has.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Showed it last year, even though it was a down
year from last year, he showed that he is a
quality quarterback.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
If bo Nix takes that next step.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Forward, like we all hope that he does, that could
be a game of Week nine on November second, that
could be flexed.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, and I think that's that's your first candidate.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
I mean, it really just depends on what both teams
look like at that point in time. You know, if
both of them have riven the dcation Houston figures too.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
They've got a soft division.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
You know, you got Jacksonville twice, you get to Colts twice.
It's you know, it's it's a fit Tennessee twice with
a rookie quarter. It's it's a fairly soft division. They're
in the AFC South, easiest division, and probably yeah, I
mean probably, depending on how you view the AFC East,
you know, maybe maybe it's the easiest division. The NFC
the NFC South, I mean, it's kind of a mixed bag.

(04:02):
I think they're equal team. I don't think they're all
good teams.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Right, it's not.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
But they're all equal though, right, So I don't think
that's quite as easy. So I would say, you know,
the last few years, the NFC East has probably been
on that list, although with Philly, Dallas on the upswing
and Washington on the upswing, that looks like a much
tougher division. The NFC South probably is overall the weakest
division in football. Now, they could surprise us. You know,
we've we've seen stranger things happen before. We sit there

(04:26):
talking about the strength of it and then watch.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
It be terrible.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
But you figure that Houston is going to be pretty
well positioned at Week nine, and the Broncos, based on
what we're looking at here, could be positioned and that
could be the start of maybe getting something and they do.
They can be flexed because the Broncos have only two
for excuse me, true primetime games. The Olympic game doesn't count,
even though I counted a prime time games. Not really,

(04:49):
the league doesn't for broadcast purposes, count as prime time.
So they are eligible for up to two flexes in
terms of these primetime games this year.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
So that's one of the games I think may happen.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
To be honest, I would be surprised it does happen
with the Houston Texans.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
When you look at just.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Normally the Broncos schedule, but also at the NFL as
a whole, and I'm thinking of who's going to be
your division winners. Who are the type of teams that
could possibly be you know, we already talked about your
dark horse, one of them being the Arizona Cardinals. I'm
looking at that the AFC side.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
And everything in me wants to say, Okay, there's an
you know, AFC South team that possibly could go and
be you know, that dark horse this year.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
But I mean it's hard to really. Are you bet going.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Liam Cohen turning around the jack No, I want too badly,
Like I want to go and see one of those
teams could be able to step up and make something happen.
Like every year there's one team that we see that
we don't expect for the most part, that's just able
to make something happen out of the blue.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Like every year we see that. I just don't see
that team coming from the AFC South. Yeah, I mean,
unless it's Houston. I just don't see the AFC South
just doesn't feel it. But then again, like I said,
those are usually when you get to surprise one of those.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Guys of things.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Jacksonville, how of this they wind up because they had
that run?

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Was it two years ago?

Speaker 1 (06:07):
You go where they have a little run, You're like, oh,
okay to Jacks, Look they're putting something together.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Finally, I think, you know, the the a f C
to me feels like the most predictable. Right you have
Kansas City, the Chargers in the Broncos are gonna be
in it. In the West.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
You know up there in the North, it's good a
two man race. You know it's it's it's gonna be
uh Baltimore in the Steelers. Uh, since he doesn't have
a defense in Cleveland, doesn't have a football team.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
With all due respect to right, I'm sorry, Brown fans,
I got jokes. It's true. Then you look over at
the East, I mean it's Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
You know. I don't really think the Jets are gonna
be a factor. I don't think the Patriots. I don't
think even the Dolphins. They might be changing coaches after
this year if they if they go sideways. And then
the South we already talked about. It's it's the Texans
and everybody else. And so I think the AFC to
me feels like it's very predictable. It's the NFC to
me that I'm like, Okay, this thing could be up
in the air a little bit.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Okay, let's look at it. What you got, you got
the you got the East where of course you've.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Got Philly, but then you've got a Washington team that
just played in the NFC Championship game as team right,
looks like they're on off swing. I'm not gonna put
the Giants in the conversation. I don't think anybody is
but but those three teams figure to cannibalize each other
a little bit, and that might be that might be
a division that's in play.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
You look at the North and it really gets it.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Man.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
You've got the Green Bay who's always well coached.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
You got a Minnesota team that that kenro O kinda
looks like he knows what he's doing, but he's got
a rookie quarterback in JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
We don't know how good that's gonna be yet.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Then you've got you've got.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
The Bears now with Ben Johnson over there, Williams looked
thick Darrel and Detroit's been a good football team the
last couple of years under Dan Campbell. That they have
a lot of attrition with Johnson and uh and Aaron
Glenn leaving for a head coaching jobs. So the NFC
North to me is the most interesting division in terms
of I can't call it.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
You've got a lot of you got a lot of
talent here.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Yeah, you know, NFC North could be that division where potentially,
I will say, all four teams in the division make
it to the playoffs, but they could get three, like
three out of the before they can what hundred per say,
get three out of four there, And we talked about
this earlier. This leads into a conversation that we wanted
to talk about a little earlier. With the Chicago Bears.
They could be a team that could make the postseason.

(08:13):
Caleb Williams, really nice offensive line, you still have your
pieces at wide receiver. They could be a team that
again they have a solid defense. You look up at them,
they could be a nine win team. They can just
figure it out. I mean there's always that one team.
You say Arizona, I say Chicago. Klub Williams might be
hopefully this year because the first Bears quarterback in the

(08:34):
history of the franchise to be able to throw for
four thousand yards.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
All those different things could be done this year.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
And I really believe that you could start to see
something with the Bears this year.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Yeah, I mean they've made an investment to the offensive line.
That defense that they've got in Chicago, I think it's underrated.
I think they've got a really good defense, a plug
and play defense here. You look at for whatever failings
Eberflus had as a head coach and and all that,
and there were many, the defense that they had was
actually pretty good.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
The defense was good. The question now is what Ben
Johnson and then could do with that offense.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
And I think we all expect that to have an
upswing and if they do, yeah, they're going to be
highly competitive football team this year. You know, last year,
I think the uh they were kind of on the
right track, and then what happened was that stupid hail
Mary player where you got the you got the corner
up there in the crowd, taunting the crowd in Washington,
you know, or whatever. They throw the hail Mary behind

(09:29):
his back from the touchdown and it sparks Washington's run
in Chicago.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Following off a Cliff Fronts.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
But again, it just shows one game, now, how one
game could change everything, right, one game could year holds
what play? I mean, if you just make that one play,
it's a total different season for the Chicago Bears. But
that's one of the reasons why I say this team
keep a dial.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
To Bears this year.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Okay, I like Minnesota, I like what they break to
the table, but again Chicago, by keep a eye on them.
The has some really good coaches. I like Ben Johnson
to be able to come over there and be the
head coach, they could do something special next year.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
It's interesting because form A Brooks tight end coaches the
offensive coordinator there. Now it's a title offensive coordinator for
Declan Doyle, but you know he sees the offensive coarda there.
Dennis Allen of course, now the defensive coordinator. Whenever you
think of Dennis Allen as a head coach, he's a
good defensive coordinator. And like I said, that defense that
they had was plug and play. A lot of people
are riff. They added Grady Jarrett to that defensive line.

(10:26):
They already got Montes. Don't call him Keith Sweat sitting
on the outside a defensive end.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
He's Vegan. Don't vegan, baby, don't get it twisted. But
you know, and then the dayo Digbeo they added as
well to the other end.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
They they've they've got some bodies there on that defense
in Chicago. And then on the offensive side, you know,
the big it was all attention to the interior of
the offensive line. Joe Tony, Drew Dolloman, Jonah Jackson. They
added Colston Lovelin at the tight end the first round.
They got Lutherer Burden Uh a little bit later on
in the in the second round as the slot guy.
They already have DJ more Roman Dunes like they're they're building,

(10:59):
So it looks like they're building something special in Chicago.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
And that is a loaded division, yes, And that's the
reason why you got to make sure that you load
up yourself, because I think the Detroit Lions, I mean,
they had a great opportunity last year. You're not going
to get that chance back again. Like you're not going
to be that type of team to have that same
opportunity to get to be able to have the number
one seed in the NFC and be able to go in,
you know, have a chance to be able to get

(11:22):
to the championship game. Everything goes through you and then
you're pretty much just pooping away because of turnovers, and
turnovers kill everybody in the playoffs. But I think this
is the last opportunity for the Lions because you said
you have a three year window. Everybody has a three
year window generally, and this is that last year for
the Lions. So after you go with them, you have

(11:42):
the vikis what type of quarterback are they going to have?
Obviously JJ McCarthy he was injured last year. Now you
assume that he's going to be the starter. He is,
I told him to be the starter right now. But
you're dealing with again, a rookie quarterback. He didn't see
a snap last year, right because he was injured last
year in his first year. So now you're pretty much
scoring to have a rookie quarterback there. Justin Jefferson is

(12:03):
still there.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
He's ridiculous, spot god, but so is the other guy
that what is it? Addison.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Yeah, he's gonna get that expension this year. It's not
sure when yet, but he's gonna have a suspension for
that DUI, so that that's something he was still fighting
in court, but he will eventually have a suspension on that.
And then they added Ryan Kelly at the center, which
I liked, and Will Fryes at the right guard, which
I didn't because fries already had surgery this offseason.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
I think he needs another surgery.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
They paid him a ton of money at the right
guard there, so that's something that's gonna be, you know,
something to keep your eye on.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
They drafted Donovan.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Jackson in the first round to be the left guard,
so that offensive line is a bit of a rebuild.
On the offensive side of the defensive side. They added
Jonathan Allen from Washington over there. They added Javon Hargrave.
They had Isaiah Rodgers from Philly, Jeff Acuda from Houston.
They added some bodies to an already pretty good defense
there in Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
Yeah, Minnesota, Oh God, the way that they are coached
up Ryan Flores, flying man.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
Let me tell you, look, I was a big fan
of Minnesota last year. I mean, Sam Darnold did his say,
but I mean.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
That defense beautiful, beautiful to win that they played football.
But she's doing each a pieces of office to make
things happen. And so will they have enough? And it's
kind of weird to say that we have two top tier.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Wide receivers, but will they have enough with their new
quarterback who has it had a regular season NFL snap
just yet?

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Will that be enough for them? That would be the
biggest question for the Vikings.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
And you got the probably the most fascinating division in
the total opposite direction in the NFC, the NFC South right.
You got the Falcons and their Kirk Cousins drama, and
you got Michael Pennix probably starting for them this year.
You got the Carolina Panthers, who all of a sudden,
Bryce Young looks viable after they benched him and brought
him back up.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
He looks like somebody could be something. Did you see
something against the Broncos when he was there? Yeah, he
had a little some to them. You know what.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
It was one of those games that you look at
said you kind of knew that they weren't going to win, right,
That was one of those where he's the Carolina Panthers,
They're not going to win. But I saw a couple
of glimpses where I say, wait, this guy actually has
something to him, like there's something truly to him, even
though he's short a stature of trust me, he is short,
but he is a guy that could still throw that ball.
That throw pretty well. Now you added a couple of
extra pieces with him. I think Jimmy Horn having him

(14:14):
on the team is going to be great for that offense.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Jamie Horn is fast. He when he gets that ball,
he is tough to bring down.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Yeah you know hez Yeah, he is he and he'll
add something to that room. I mean they got mcmillion,
the other rookie and him, and that he'll add something.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
To that very young receiver room.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Jimmy Horn out of the slot is going to be
a problem, and in time he would definitely be a
problem at the slot just because of a getting great
speed of the decent hands.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Maybe not the best hands in the game, he has
decent hands. We saw a couple of passes that.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
He dropped the first year that he was here with
the Buffs, But when the ball is in his hands,
he is a difference maker.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Yeah, no doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
And their head coach, Dave Canalis, who's my age, somebody
I've known since was twenty year I think when he
went out to Seattle as the wide receivers coach.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
I've known him since since twenty ten. Good dude.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Not betting against Dave Canalis, known him for, like I said,
fifteen years now, not betting against him in terms of putting.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
That team, the Carolina team back on the map as
far as they go.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
You've also, I mean, you've got some other good teams
in that division though, I mean we talked about the
Falcons a little bit with the Penis thing and the
Kirk Cousins stuff, and we'll see what the Falcons do.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
But you've got a Bucks team that's got Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Uh wait, wait, wait, hold on them. We're not to
go run over what the Falcons have a quarterback of
the issues that they have right there?

Speaker 3 (15:32):
All right, tell you what we got to talk about
that we gotta break.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
We'll come back and we'll talk about Kirk Cousins, Michael
Pennix and the rest of the lot of facult will
get the NFC south. Taking your questions on the text line,
you guys listen to Broncos country night here on can't way.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Zax seekers back there behind the glass. We got good feedback,
right were the text line?

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Man?

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Six o five?

Speaker 1 (15:54):
So it's a really good show tonight, fellas. You guys
really work well together. Hey man, you know it helps,
Like I said, that's what Dick helps. You helps having
for here so makes those shows a lot more fun,
a lot easier.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Said one for does the Penis draft look better?

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Now?

Speaker 1 (16:07):
We're still confusing and just the whole Cousins signing is bad.
The Cousins signing is bad. Number one, No, no, no, no,
let me actually answer it this way. Number one, It's
not my money, so hey, it is one of the
right we're here to talk about spending other people's mind, right,
So it good for Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Good for his family.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
They're going to be well off for years, but beginning
Michael Pinnix is going to help them and pay dividends
years down the road. Because Michael Penick could throw the ball.
You saw that a little bit. He could play the
ball very very well. So you know, the hope that
you have is that it just continues that Michael Penicks,
another guy going into a second year, can continue to mature.

(16:44):
And if he does, guess what, you look at that
NFC North.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
There's not a lot of guys. There's not a lot
of quality quarterbacks that they have right there.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
So you could be a team that can actually run
that division. Obviously Baker Mayfield he's doing this thing out
there with Tampa. But you could be able to run
that division, and if you do the right things, Yeah,
it's gonna be interesting to see. I don't know that
the draft looks better now. I mean, they made a
bad signing with Cousins in the first place.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
But we'll see.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
On the Pennix thing, it remains to be seen how
he plays. I mean, we saw limited window of him
last year. I didn't see anything special out of him.
But what we'll see you know, I mean, you know,
he's gonna have a whole year of that's soaking up
that offense and we'll kind of seam deck.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
What do you say we do a six pack? It
is time for the NFL six pad.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
I'm gonna trink a lot of insight and insight information
you can't find anywhere else.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
I know, the top six NFL headlines on.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
Starting off here with NFL Network Cynthia Friedland. She's there,
analytics expert, czar, whatever you want to call her. She's
got analytical model she uses to predict each game, every
week and the entire NFL season as a whole. Now,
with the schedule finalized, she released her projections for this
upcoming season, and it has the Denver Broncos as the

(17:57):
AFC's fourth best team. The Ravens are atop the conference
with a projected eleven point six wins, followed by the
Bills with.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Eleven point four, the Chiefs with eleven.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
Point two, the Broncos with nine point five, the Chargers
with nine point three, the Bengals with nine point one,
and then your worst division winner, the Houston Texans with
nine point zero. Any surprises for you guys in those projections.
What do you agree with the most and what do
you least agree with. I mean, I think these are
all in the ballpark.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
I don't know about the Ravens higher than the Bills, right,
that's you know, Raven's got a tough division. They gotta
play the Steelers twice. It's you know, that's that's gonna
be the Bills a little bit easier division. I don't
have too much gripe here. The Bengals at nine point
one is a little head scratch. They got no defense,
so I don't know how you know, unless you're just
out shooting everybody, that's that's gonna be interesting.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
I don't have too many gratch with that. I'd sake Baltimore.
I don't believe there will be the top team. I
believe Buffalo is going to be the top team. I
believe they'll be the number one seed. Honestly in the AFC.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Buffalo is that seam that folly. Josh Elliott has hit
that mark. We used the MVP.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
He's going to take the next step because he's validated
in that right. So this is the last opportunity I
fell for Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
Again, we talk about.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
These three year windows here's another opportunity for Buffalo to
be able to do what they're supposed to do. A
really good looking team. They got to go and get
that number one spot. If this is their chance to
win a Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Yeah, I tend to agree too.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
Up next year, the NFL is considering and is expected
to pass, a stipulation of rule that will allow one
player from every NFL team to join the twelve man
Team USA flag football roster for the twenty twenty eighth
Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Now, there would only be
one player per team per nation, so you couldn't have

(19:44):
you know, Mahomes and Kelsey both playing for Team USA.
With that all in mind, who would you like to
see on the Team USA roster?

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Now?

Speaker 4 (19:53):
You don't have to name all twelve, but just a
handful of guys you'd be excited to Justin Jefferson, that
was the first name I came up with.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Two. I was like that dude to dominate some five
ft six quarter from South Korea and absolutely put that
dude in a blender, you know, like I'm here to
I'm here to watch, I'm here to see that. Oh man,
there's gotta be like some jab step running back.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
There's gotta be you know. So I'm just here to
see them putting breaking ankles out there.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Jamier gives kids should be nice, gives would be filthy
watching some linebacker from France get his ankle broke.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
You know, Saquon with the reverse hurdle jumpy.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Yeah, you know, that's just saying I stually Jamiir gives
out there putting the moves on and some you know,
the French guy's just putting his hands straight up in
the surrendered position because that's that's what the French do.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Yeah, I don't think that would be fair. I'll give
you one guy locally. How about Travis Hunter. Yeah, they
could take two positions right there for.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
You, especially in a flag football game, go over the place. Yeah,
you're not going to get him, so let's go with
Travis Hunter. That's a good call. Yeah, I'd love a
guy like Nick Bidino too.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
You're gonna want your guys up front to maybe be
able to drop back and coverage, have a little wiggle
to him.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
I think he could be a good fit. Yeah, that's
that's probably a good one. And then you know, I
mean the defenders you're looking at Sir.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Tan or Kyle Hamilton, somebody like, you know, just speed
guys that are out there flying all.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Over the place with great hands.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Three.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
Following last night's schedule release, the Kansas City Chiefs are
projected to have the NFL's seventh hardest Yeah, the NFL's
seventh hardest schedule this upcoming season is that and this
roster's attrition over the years, but enough to finally knock
the Chiefs from that number one seed perch in the AFC.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
Hey, Ben, I need a little bit of help. I'm
kind of struggling here. Is Patrick mahomes still with the
Chiefs to that? Let's talk a lot about what the
Austin let me ask. Yeah, I believe that he's okay, Okay, yeah, no,
they'll still be fine. Okay, Yeah, there's a whole school song.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Right they say Long has not got King Jesus, I'll
be okay.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
I don't need none else. Long has not got Patrick Maholmes.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Live in Kansas City through the l way years out here,
and I know how frustrated that fan base was with
the quarterback that you're like, what do we got to
do to beat this guy?

Speaker 3 (21:57):
I'm on the other side of it now living in
Denver watching the Uch. The Mahome stuff happened on the
other side, So you're the trips. It's me. It's clearly me.
The Chiefs. The Chiefs are you know, they're the top
for a reason.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Until they get dethroned, they are the top. And that's
I think how the Broncos have to approach the season
every year. You can't view them as invincible, but you
do have to give them the respect to say, hey,
you're the top, to light to throw you, but we're coming.
We were a fingernail away with that stupid field goal
last year. You know we're gonna We're gonna top that
this year.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
And that's the attitude you have to have.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Four.

Speaker 4 (22:27):
Speaking of the schedule release, the Indianapolis Colts were forced
to delete their schedule release video after they infringed on
Microsoft's Minecraft copyright. I don't know if you guys have
seen any of the schedule release videos, but do you
have a favorite or a least.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Favorite that stands out? I mean all time over this year,
I don't know the.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
Time best when is that Titans one where they're asking
the people on the street and they all get the
team logo wrong.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
But then they flash up whatever that person said, and
it's like it's.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Like week one and it's like they'd used the NFL
the you know thing, and it's just like, that's the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
They flash up the Saints logo and put the Chiefs
on there. That's the Birmingham Broncos or whatever.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
You know. They Oh, it was great, It's just funny.
You after funny. That's probably all the time. The chargers
do a really good job every year.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
And by the way, didn't the Coults rip them off
with the Minecraft thing?

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Yes? Yeah, so and they and then they pulled it
down because they had the coast guard pull it over
Tyreek Hill and like the you know, in the tenders
or whatever.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
Which Tyreek said, he should have left it up. It
was funny. He thought it was funny. He wasn't bothered
by it at all. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
I think the Colts pulled it down because they ripped
off the chargers doing Minecraft, Like, you know, like, what
are you doing here? I mean the chargers of gold Standard.
You can't just rip them off and think you're gonna
get away with it.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
Yeah, And chargers were fine because they cleared it with Minecraft.
Indianapolis ever did so they had to take it down.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
Check out what happened with Arizona. They had one of
their guys rapped, Like what are their players just wrapped?
The whole eight team bar I mean, he was amazing
the way that he put it together. Trust me, you
want to check out what Arizona did it. But well,
when I say well worth it, it is well worth
your time.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
It is that good.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Have to watch it with Browns, I wouldn't recommend. It's
the worst one I've ever seen.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
He was like in AKA, who are we talking about
Cleveland Browns? Yeah? Since when were they good at anything?
Fair point?

Speaker 1 (24:10):
Yeah, let's go five.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Halleen Browns. Yeah, speaking of the Browns, thank you. Ben.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
Hall of Famer Charles Woodson is buying a steak in
the Cleveland franchise. To Justin's point right here, given Woodson's
incredible resume, do you think you could see him positively
impacting the Browns similar to how we've seen Tom Brady
positively impact the Raiders over the past several months.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Did Brady impact the Raiders?

Speaker 1 (24:34):
They didn't get Matt Stafford, they didn't get Ben Johnson,
they didn't get your Doors, so.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Figure of the Browns. Yeah, I mean like I'm making jokes.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
I mean he's gonna buy like a point one percent
stay guy, I don't know if it's going to translate
to anything at all. I mean having that voice around,
you'd figure would be good for the organization. But I mean,
the Browns are such a bleep show that I don't
even know, you know, I don't even though what to say.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
Yeah, but I'll say this for Rob Walm.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
You know, if you want me to go in by
zero point one share of the Broncos, you might want
to put another oh oh point oh one. I'd go
and buy that and I would definitely be a great
influence on the Bronx.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
I'm in with you. I got five on it. Hey,
let's do it.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
Seth Wickersham reports in his new book that Caleb Williams
tried to force his way to the Minnesota Vikings ahead
of last year's draft, even considering playing in the UFL
to avoid the Bears if necessary. What do you make
of this report coming out now? And obviously Williams wasn't
successful in his attempt. What do you think it would

(25:41):
take for a quarterback or a draft prospect to be
able to be successful in forcing a team's hand in
the modern NFL and Eli Manning to john Oway situation,
I mean, you have to be so toxic to the
city that they just can't do it, Like that's what
you'd have to do. And Haleb been into that, he
wasn't willing to nuke the city of Chicago in order
to in order to do that thing.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
This is all coming out now because sat the cell
of the book, and this is the pull quote, and
you know that's that's kind of how that stuff goes.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
But if you think about it, you rewind a little
bit to Kayleb Williams and his helicopter father Carl.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
You know who is the problem here in this situation?

Speaker 1 (26:18):
If you if you go, if you try to put
yourself in their shoes and their perspective before this. One
of the craziest statistics in sports is that the Chicago
Bears have been around for a heart and five seasons
and don't have a quarterback that's thrown for four thousand yards.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
In the season.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Their literal best statistical season from a quarterback is Eric
Kramer in nineteen ninety five.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
Oh God, you say Erk Kramer. Oh it gets Better the.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Fifth old time leading passing yardage quarterback in Chicago Bears history.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
The fifth most is Mitch Trubisky. No, huh, Mitchell Trubisky
is the fifth all.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Time passing leading quarterbacks in Bear's history.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
As a father, I would say I would want to
go there either. Kennedy. It is courage. Jay Cutler's by
far the best quarterback they've ever there.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
Jake Opler, I know the Wendy ce is crazy, but
my goodness, yeah, that's it's It is absolutely absurd how
bad the quarterbacking plays has been there.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Carl Williams, was Call's father, told.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
Wickersham before the draft that Chicago's the place quarterbacks go
to die.

Speaker 3 (27:14):
And he's not really been wrong with all that.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
I mean historically, Bears general manager spoke to both him
and his father before the draft said where we're drafting
no matter what, so you know, you bet you might
as well. And at that point they had a decision
make make this situation so toxic that you have to
move on from him or try to do the best
of it. And this is you know, you and I
were texting this morning, we were talking about this very story,
and to me, I think you said it great, and

(27:39):
we were all talking, they don't burn a bridge because
in reacity, at the end of the day, by not
burning that bridge, you wound up getting Ben Johnson to
come in there. They put together an offensive line, they
got you some weapons. This year looks like it could
be a feast for campab Lee.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
And again I'm picking you to be that surprise team,
that dark horse team in the NFL this year because
you stuck it out. And oh, by the way, you're
going to get some good coaching. Now you're finally going
to get some things that will go your way. It
just works out.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
Give it time. But that's something for life too, Like
that's a life lesson. Is actually just still quit.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
You just don't give up, right You just don't say Okay,
it's over, it's not going to work out. You just
never know what will come next. There's always something else
better around the corner.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
And don't burn a bridge. You never know when you're
gonna have to walk back across. And I said that
a personal experience, because the Lord knows, you know, I'll
burn some bridges in my day. Oh yeah, but.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Smoldering right now, I'm just like life advice like this
is one of those things where because he decided.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Okay, I'm just gonna do the right thing.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
I'm gonna go there, We're gonna make it work, and
wound up being a situation that worked out for himself.
Some of the other interesting quotes out of this this
article he knew ahead of time that he and that
Shane Waldron wasn't the guy. The offensive coordinator of the
head also went into detail about how he was just
watching film by himself with no direction from coaches. That Waldron,
you know, they didn't tell him what to look at
or anything. He's just in there watching film by himself.

(29:00):
That that is an indictment on the staff and Mattie
Biddlers assembled there. That's an indictment on their inability to coach.
You had the title of coach, but you weren't doing
any damn coaching. So you know, that's one of those
things where I think there's a lot to be learned
from this. I don't take exception to Kayleb Williams. I
don't think Bears fans should take exception to Kayler Williams

(29:20):
not having wanted to go there, because.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
He is committed now. And also it takes the point
too where you talk about your new head coach to say.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
Hey, man, these guys, no matter how talented they are
on the field, they still need to be coached, man, Like,
you still need to go and coach your players. And
so it's just not something that you could do is say, oh,
he'll figure it out, He'll know exactly what to do.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
That's not what you could do. You got to you
still got to go coach up these guys.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
You have to mold these players because if you do, man,
you got something real special on your hands.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
But if you don't, then you're going to have, well,
what the Bears did last year, and that's good. Sorry.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Do you think this adds any extra juice to the
Bears Vikings rivalry? Or is it almost complimentary to the
Vikings considering Caleb wanted to be there.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
Let me say this, because there's what's the quick thing
with the book, I get it right? In the NFL,
so many guys switch hands, if so many guys switched positions, that.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
Every game's a rivalry.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
Honestly that there's some certain games, right, Steelers Ravens for example,
Broncos Raiders, right, that have that special rivalry to it.
But I mean you could go into every game and say, Hey,
I don't like this guy, or this should be a
rivalry game against this guy, or whoever it could be.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
So I mean, again, do you blame.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Caleb Williams at the time for saying that I wanted
to be with I don't know, a really good head
coach who just so happened to be a former NFL
quarterback himself.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
That's not an issue for me.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
I don't think it puts any I don't think it
adds any juice to the rivalry you know already there,
and I think for the reasons that Justin said. The
one thing I will say is maybe it puts some
pressure on JJ McCarthy, especially if Williams has a good
year this year, as McCarthy's in his rookie season and
kind of looking maybe not over his shoulder, but across
the division, and a quarterback who wanted to be there
in Minnesota and ultimately couldn't force his way in there,
that the idea that Minnesotas settled on JJ McCarthy, that's

(31:00):
that sort of thing.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
I think it could maybe add pressure there, But the
reality is.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
The only the only blood boiling portion of this I
think is the Shane Waldron portion of this, and he's
now the passing game cordiator with the Jags.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
He's not even in Oc anymore.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
Yeah, the Vikings don't have the quarterback history of the Bears,
but it's not much better. They've really never had a
homegrown guy outside fran Tarkenton.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
And you know, if J. J.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
McCarthy's struggling, the grass is going to look a lot
greener in Chicago. If Caleb Williams is having a great
sophomore season.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
Well, the Vikers have had some seasons with some quarterbacks,
so Johnte Culpepper home.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
They haven't had a homegrown guy outside Crank Colepepper home grown.
I thought I thought it was I Guess Cousins four
years then his shoulder to Miami.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
But here's the point that you have though, because I
remember watching Warren Vikings warn moved yet warm, but he
wasn't homegrown. Yeah, George played a little bit there, he
wasn't home grown, played a little bit Randall Connyenham.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
But all these guys were just, you know, at most
like five year little chapters. They haven't found that frantishized
guy outside of time.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Tommy Kramer would be the last guy.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
I think that you'd have to have to go all
the way back to the late seventies and into the
eighties in order to, uh to get to that. But
Carl Pepper, Yeah, you put a couple of seasons together there.
There in a hell of a supporting cast. So anytime
you're throwing a Chris Carter, Randy Moss and Jake Reid,
I think you're you're you know, my grandma could probably
get a thousand yards in that offense.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
So Jonathan, uh, yeah, I appreciate you sitting in. Uh, Zach,
we got a little more Broncos country tonight coming up.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
