Speaker 1 (00:00):
But with all bridy Nick Ferguson, grass me there with you.
I six sixty nine zero, all right? Who was our
winner of the VIP table?
Speaker 2 (00:08):
I don't know?
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Okay, all right, God's got a written down back thirty
scrambled around.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
That's what I get for putting him on the spot
like that. Oh hap at, you're forgetting the name to
our show. Yeah, I was like trying to say, well,
I did not forget the name. It's like I was
trying to say it.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
It was just like, yes, marbles, it's a Friday, man,
I've got marbles in my mouth for for Friday.
Speaker 5 (00:30):
Well, let me help you out. My name is Nick Ferguson.
That's Grant Smith behind the boards, Fick Nergusson.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yes, okay, gotcha, and uh yeah, that's great Smith's back there.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
I can't even do anything with that. Let's do our
NFL Pickum segment.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Starting off early on Sunday morning, seven thirty am as
the Minnesota Vikings start taking off the taken on the
Cleveland Browns as it were in London, Dylan Gabriel getting
the start for the Browns here, which Lions started at
Browns getting seven. It has fallen into Browns only getting
three and a half fifty two percent of bets, fifty
(01:08):
eight percent of money on the Browns plus at three
at a look o Runners started forty one and a
half has dropped to thirty six sixty two per bet,
sixty nine percent of money on the over of thirty
six and a half on the money line, eighty eight
percent of bets are on the Vikings, but only sixty
nine percent of money. There is a betting sentiment here
that Dylan Gabriel will provide more for the offense than
Joe Flacco. Yeah, he definitely will. Based on his mobility.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
You can expect Keeva Stefanski to kind of move him
around and get him outside of the pocket because get
away from Brian Flora's defense, because there were soon defensive
coordinators last season that led the league as far as
dolling up pressure.
Speaker 6 (01:47):
Flores was one and Vance Joseph was the other.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
Now here's the thing for the Minnesota Vikings now they're
playing against you know, a good deep was a line
by the Cleveland Browns, and that offers the line for
the Vikings. I banged, but I still feel as though
Carson Wentz is a better choice.
Speaker 6 (02:03):
The quarterback. So I'm gonna go with the Vikings.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
I think the Browns are gonna win this game, straight up.
I think Dylan Gabriel is gonna come out and play well.
He's hurt all the criticism a lot of people I
know in Cleveland we're calling Churches shador to beat the
starter ahead of him.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
I think he's going to live.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Up to expectation from the Browns coaching staff, and I
think the Browns defensive line is going to get after
Carson Wentz. Like you said, when the Vikings are going
to come back from the European road trip, I went too.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
I think I'm leading Grant's way on this one. And
the reason that I am is because the coaching staff
of Cleveland is put getting their guy in there. Whether
or not the front office want a Chador, whether or not, players, fans, whatever,
the coaching staff has been very clear that Dylan Gabriel
is Kevin Stefanski's guy, and they're gonna do everything.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Possible to try to prove themselves right.
Speaker 5 (02:50):
See They're gonna do everything they can to prove themselves right.
But I go back to this, if what you guys
say does come to fruition is going to be because
the Cleveland Browns gave them multiple opportunities because how bang
up the Vikings offensive line is.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
I'm with you on the Dolphins at the Panthers battle
of two who could care less football teams Dolphins, this
is pretty even right now. Started off minus one and
a half, Dolphins still at minus one and a half.
All the shoes to plus one hundred bets are pretty
evenly split. Forty nine percent of bets forty eight percent
of money on the Dolphins lay on the one and
a half over understarted forty six and a half down
(03:26):
to forty four and a half. People still betting the under,
sixty three percent of the money on the under. There
on the money line, sixty one percent bets, sixty five
percent of money on Miami. I like Miami on the
road against the Panthers, who have been half less outside of.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
One game this season.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
I like the Miami over the Panthers, and I like
them because, you know, I think it was today that
Tyreek Hill showed up to the team meeting and to
see a guy who just had knee surgery to come
back and sit in the meeting room and tell guys, hey, listen,
let's keep the main thing.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
The main thing.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
I think, even if it's for one game, is going
to motive them to destroy the Panthers.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
I think Tyreek Hill is all over the damned place,
you know, like he's smiling getting carved off the field,
goes back today, wanted to get traded in the offseason.
I like the Panthers to bounce back after a horrible
loss against the Patriots last week. I think we're gonna
see a much better brace you on this week.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Okay, I'm I'm on Miami here.
Speaker 6 (04:21):
This is said to me.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Feels like they're one chance to kind of bounce back
a little bit further than what they have.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
They got to figure some things out.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
They felt like they figured something out with Waller this
past week.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Both these teams are bad. Panthers defense is really bad.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
It could probably cost a Barrow his job after this season.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
We'll see, We'll see what happens at Raiders.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
At the Colts, Raiders started off getting one and a half.
They're now getting six and a half, sixty seven percent
of bets, but only forty nine percent of money on
the Colts.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Lay of the Tuddy over understarted forty four a half
is up to.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Forty seven and a half fifty four percent of bets
fifty three percent of money on the under forty seven
and a half. I like the Colts at home against
the struggling Raiders.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
I like the Coats too as well because despite acid,
Gentz kind of went wild in Fantasy.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Last back in that college stand Yes for.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
Me, I think the Colts have a better team. They
have a better guy playing at the quarterback position. But
when you look at the X factor, that's a tight
end position. Rock Byrs has been doing dealing with the
knee injury, he hasn't really been the same. And I
think Tyler Warren is a better tight end in this
duel on Sunday, only because Bras is coming off for
(05:28):
that n.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
I'm gonna say, oh may because both of them, you know,
the two best young tight ends though in the NFL
right now. I like the Colt as well in this game.
I like him to cover and I like the over nice.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
What else we got here looks like giants at the Saints.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
People have been.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Raving about Jackson Dark Giants started off lading one and
a half, but now they're getting two and a half here.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Seventy one percent of bet sixty nine percent of money
on the.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Giants plus two and a half over under started forty
two and a half down to forty one and a half,
sixty four percent of bets on the over on the
money line, sixty five percent of bets eighty three percent
of money on the Giants.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Here.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
I like the Saints at home against the Giants.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
I think the Giants hid Dart a little bit last week.
They used his legs a little bit more. He's a
little bit of a handy thing going on.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
I like the rattle sneak Spencer Rattler in the Saints
to get the first win.
Speaker 6 (06:17):
No, you can keep that, man.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
I'm gonna roll with the Giants because they have been
inspired by their two young rookies, Camp Scoutibu and Jackson Darton.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
You know, listen, not forget.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
What we saw last week by Janson charge of team
that was three in oh and Brian Burns.
Speaker 6 (06:34):
Was in that back for a wrecking shop.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
So that Rattler is going to have to move because
he's gonna be sliding for his life.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
I'm just looking at the same schedule here, and this
may be their only game that they could win the
rest of the year.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Maybe the Anthers at home.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
On December fourteenth, and I still like the Giants in
this game. I'm all all them all in on Scatapo
and the Jackson Dart bros. There you go and that defense, good.
Speaker 6 (06:58):
Man, Thank you.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Texans at the Baltimore Ravens the Cooper Rush game is
Lamar Jackson along with a ton of Ravens are out.
Texans started off getting seven and a half, now they're
giving one and a half.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Seventy three percent of bets.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Are on the Ravens plus one and a half, but
only fifty six percent of money is the sharpster, looks
like on the Texans there over under started forty seven
and a half down to forty and a half. People
still bet in the under. Fifty seven percent bet sixty
percent of money on the under on the money line,
seventy two percent of bet seventy six percent of money
on the Ravens.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Outright.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
I like Houston on the road against a very beat
up Ravens team.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
Yeah, you said the operative word beat up Ravens teams.
And this is abouttle of the one in three teams.
Someone is gonna be one and four and it's gonna
be the Raves. I couldn't believe that I would have
said this before the season has started. And all, oh,
by the way, the Texas, oh this raven team because
what they did to him in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
I don't think it's gonna matter at the Cooper Rush game.
I think Derek Henry is gonna have thirty plus carries
and he's gonna have a huge day. And the Ravens
and underd at home, they're gonna know that. I think
they're gonna win this game and keep their season slightly
alive and hoping.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
For Lamar Jackson come back sooner rather than later.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Also, there early slates Cowboys at the Jets. Cowboys were
given two and a half, now only given one and
a half, sixty four percent of bets, sixty four percent
of money on Dallas over understarted forty four and a half,
all the way out to forty seven and a half,
although sixty seven percent of bets, fifty nine percent of
money on the under, on the money line, eighty three
percent of bets, eighty six percent of money on Dallas.
Give me Dallas justin field sucks.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
That's all I have to say, tell them how you
really feel.
Speaker 6 (08:33):
And he's gonna have a big.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Game because the Dallas defense also sucks. Yes, but justin
Field sucks. That's all I have to say. So here's
the other part.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
The Jets defense hasn't really helped their offense out at all.
And we've seen former Broncos running back Javonte Williams find
a nose for the for the red zone, for the
end zone, and he's going to continue to do that
against his team. And oh, by the way, people would
down o Dak, but Dak is really showing as well.
Speaker 6 (08:57):
He's having a great year.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
Yeah, I mean this his two horrible defenses. I thought
Aaron Glenn was going to have more of an impact
on the Jets defense so far this year he has not.
I like the Cowboys Dak Prescott to have a huge
game and get me a job. Vonte Williams anytime TV.
I think he's definitely getting in the zone this week.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Now he's Titans at the Cardinals. So we started off
Cardinals favorite minus five and a half.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Now they have to minus seven and a half, sixty
seven cent of bets, sixty eight percent of money on
Arizona Well runner started forty six and a half down
to forty two forty one and a half. Someplace's fifty
seven percent of bets, sixty seven percent of money on
the under, on the money line, ninety seven percent of bets,
ninety six percent of money on Arizona. I'm on Arizona
and the Titans. They'd need the cleanhouse on that coaching staff. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
You know, Keim Wood said it best when he said
his team was a yss broll.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
I didn't know, Fine, he said their ass and right now,
yes they are with the Capitol A and now lose.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
The street is going to continue because plus we saw.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
Marvin have some junior side. I did that. He wanted
to be involved in the game.
Speaker 5 (10:02):
He was involved in the game, and that's kind of
that's a big dude to try to stop.
Speaker 6 (10:06):
So I'm a road with the cars with this one.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Yeah, I'm wrong with the Cards as well.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
This is a get right game for them before they
have a couple of tough games in a row against
the Colts and the Packers. I think you see a
big day from Kyler Murray and the offense.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
I do as well keep an eye on Michael Carter
there running back as he'd do maccaddo get the splits.
He supposed to be the guy just to heads up
there Bucks at the Seahawks. Bucks started off one and
a half point favorites, another four point underdogs, seventy two
percent of bets, seventy percent of money on the Bucks,
though Overrouder started forty seven and a half is down
to forty four to fifty nine percent bets, eighty one
(10:37):
percent of money on the over Here on the money line,
sixty four percent of bets on the Seahawks, but only
fifty three percent of money. I like Tampa on the
road against Seattle and Sam Darmer.
Speaker 6 (10:47):
Ooh, I don't know about this one.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
I think coach McDonald is going to have something in
store for Bacon Mayfield watching that big fans of your
film and Sam donald Man. Once again, here's one of
those guys who was kind of under value, but he
can continued to find a home once in Minnesota. Now
with Seattle, I'm gonna go with the Seahawks over the Bucks.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
I'm with you, Nick, I'm going with the Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
I love me some Baker Mayfield, but I think the
Bucky Irving being out the zax factor in this game.
This is my game of the week other than the
Eagles and the Broncos.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
I like the Seahawks at home.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Nice Lions at Bengals, probably the biggest spread of the week.
The Lions are laid ten and a half. That's gonna
start off one and a half. It's up to ten
and a half at home for the Bengals. Yeah, the
Lions are ten a half point famous in Cincinnati. Eighty
one percent of bets eighty nine percent of money on
the Lions even laying that ten and a half over
understarted fifty and a half down of forty eight and
(11:42):
a half, sixty three percent of bets on the under,
fifty three percent of money on the overdome, ninety eight
percent of bets, ninety nine percent of money on the
Lions minus five fifty old the money Lion.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Lions blow the Bengals out of Cincinnati.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
Yeah, I definitely agree with that.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
Another week of former Broncos offensive assistant John more than
with All.
Speaker 6 (12:00):
Scoring over thirty points a game.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
Sorry, Grant, but your defense last week it's terrible.
Speaker 6 (12:07):
They're gonna be off with this week. You gets the
line oday?
Speaker 2 (12:10):
No, I'm just kidding.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
The Lions win by a million.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Tough week for Cincinnati sports fans with the Reds going
out in the Wildcard Series and it's just gonna get worse.
I'd say they lose by seventeen to twenty one points.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Washington at the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
This one started off Commanders getting one and a half.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Now they're getting two and a half.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
The betting is dead even split on that at fifty
to fifty, both for the money and the tickets.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Over under started forty.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Seven and a half, stayed rough with the same seventy five.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
Percent of bets seventy three percent of money on the under.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
On the money lines all Chargers though, eighty eight percent
of bets, ninety one percent of money on the Chargers.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
I like the Chargers at home.
Speaker 6 (12:46):
Well, is Jane.
Speaker 5 (12:46):
Dames respected to he's back? Who he's back? Sounds like
a jay Z reference. With that being said, I'm going
with the guy by the name with the nisus jay
d I'm gonna go with the Commanders in this one.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
I didn't thank either of you. We're going to take
the Commanders on this one. I am also riding with
the Commanders. I think this is a big game for them.
I think that Jayden Daniels is going to have a
big one as well, and I hopefully their defense looks
a little bit better. I just want the Chargers to lose, really,
so I'm going.
Speaker 6 (13:15):
With the Commanders.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
All right, Sunday Night football, Patriots at the Bills. We'll
start off Patriots getting eight and a half. Now they're
only getting seven and a half. Some late money coming
in on the Patriots. Fifty five percent of bets, fifty
two percent of money on Buffalo minus eight over under
started forty six and a half up to forty eight
and a half.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Sixty percent of bets are.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
On the under, but sixty six percent of money on
the over in this one. On the money line, everybody's
on the bills. Ninety seven percent of bets, ninety eighty
percent of money. Give me Buffalo at home on Sunday Night.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
I guess Drake May and the Patriots.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the Buffalo bills. Because when you
got a guy like Josh Allen who could fill up
the stat sheet running and throwing the ball.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
Also, you add.
Speaker 5 (13:50):
James Cook, who I believe is at three games in
a row with more than one hundred yards, that's going
to make life very difficult for Drake mayins going to
keep him on the side line.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
The Patriots, though, Man, they are looking good. They look
like they're coming up up all the way back under
Mike bray Boy and Drake may looks like the real
deal to me. But I still like the Bills in
this one. But I do like the Patriots to cover
that eight point spread.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Nice all right, Monday Night football Chiefs at the Jaguars.
Jacks suddenly played in pretty good football. Chiefs start off
minus four and a half, only minus three and a half.
Now sixty one percent of bets, seventy one percent of
money on Kansas City layer of the three and a
half over under. He's gone down two points from forty
seven and a half down to forty five and a half.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
It's dead split on the bets, but sixty one percent
of money on the over.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
On the money line, ninety two percent of bets, ninety
nine percent of money on Kansas City. I like the
Jags to cover this. I don't know about winning though,
all Right.
Speaker 6 (14:44):
You seem scared him for a second when he said
I like the Jags.
Speaker 5 (14:47):
That was like, have you been talking to Liam Colin
as a late And I'm like, no, I don't see
the Jags with this game. Obviously, they won against the
forty nine ers. We're playing with the backup quarterback. You're
not gonna do that same thing against the Chiefs. The
Chiefs swim big.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
Chiefs, swim big Jacksonville, BI on Monday night, wim big and.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Drinking the kool aid.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
I'm going with the Jags the upset the Chiefs at
home on Monday night football. Liam Cohen not scared of anybody,
even Robert Solid.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Yeah, it's got He'll bow up to the Walrus and Reed.
Speaker 6 (15:24):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
I don't know what's in your kool aid, but it
sounds like it's artificial.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Hey, give me that.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
As Broncos at the Eagles, this one started all four
and a half, it's out. It's been bet back to
four and a half and all over the map fifty
seven percent of bets on the Eagles minus four and
a half fifty nine percent of money.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
However, on the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Plus four and a half over under started forty five
and a half down to forty three and a half,
sixty percent of best seventy nine percent of money on
the over on the money line, ninety five percent of
best ninety seven percent of money on Philadelphia.
Speaker 6 (15:53):
So you said you never said who you were going for.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
It was going to go last.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
No, no, no, no, I always go first the first, I'll
be last, Blash will be first of all.
Speaker 6 (16:02):
Whatever.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
Okay, so very difficult game for the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 6 (16:05):
Who win. I'm gonna go with the Eagles on the road.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
Tough deifas of line, and this could be a game
where we see a revitalization of that Eagles offense.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
I hope you're wrong, but I think you're right. Give
me the Eagles twenty for twenty.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Yeah, I call this Hotel California because it's gonna be
all Eagles in this one. I think a field goal fest.
I do think a little bit of a lower scoring
game with some oddities in. It's something like twenty one
eighteen or something like that. But I believe the Eagles
will win this one and the Broncos I have to
get the five hundred against whatever. That Jets quarterback is
terrible justin fields. Yeah, that guy, he sucks, and they'll
(16:44):
have they'll have to get rid.
Speaker 6 (16:45):
Of against another opportunity to say he sucks for year.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
This guy, he's so bad They' shipping him over to
London to play football game.
Speaker 6 (16:49):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
You know, this is the worst thing to happen to
the British. It's the Boston tea party. Broncos country night
back after this. Nine zero is the text line, you
guys want to get involved in The conversation had quite
a few a few different texts coming in here, including
somebody want to give a shout out Chris Gudierrez, who's
(17:10):
competing tomorrow night in the preliminary card of UFC three twenty,
So shout out to Chris Gudiers there as well. We're
going to run at the Ka Coustra hotline of being
a guy at cracks from Sports Illustrated ed.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
How are you doing this evening?
Speaker 7 (17:22):
Hey, guys, doing good?
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Thanks for having me.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Yeah, absolutely, as we were looked at this thing this week.
And not a lot of optimism here in Denver, despite
coming off the blowoff, will blow out win against Cincinnati,
that the Broncos can pull off this west to East
early morning right before we go to London one day
short game against the Philadelphia Eagles. What is the sentiment
on the Philadelphia side of the house.
Speaker 8 (17:45):
Yeah, you know, I'm not sure there's a lot of
optimism for this in Philadelphia either, given the kind of
the state of what's going on with this team right
now in terms of you know, the AJ Brown and
Jalen Hurts, the kerfuffle, you know, with Brown coming out
with that tweet after the Eagles beat the Bucks, and
you know, the Eagles just haven't really looked that good.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
To be honest, you guys know that.
Speaker 8 (18:08):
I mean, they play half pretty well and then and
then they don't play a half very well.
Speaker 7 (18:13):
So you know, they're very inconsistent.
Speaker 8 (18:15):
They're still trying to find themselves. So you know, I
don't think the optimism is very high here in Philadelphia either.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
But that said, Eagles fans are happy there for.
Speaker 7 (18:24):
No rather than you know, one and three or you
know the alternative.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
Well, and everyone's trying to figure out the Misrey formula.
As to how the Eagles with everything that you said,
how are they still able to win the games in
the manner which they're able to win the games?
Speaker 8 (18:41):
Well, I think they're doing it in the other two
phases of the game. You look at their special teams.
You know, they blocked two punchs for touchdowns and back
to back weeks they did it against the Rams. You know,
if the Rams kicker Joshua Carty makes that forty four
yard field goal. The Rams win that game, but Jordan
Davis blocked it sixty one yards for the touchdown to
(19:01):
kind of put that one away obviously. And then last
week against Tampa, they start the game with a block
punt from cam lot Too and Sydney brown scoops it
up and goes thirty five yards for a quick seven
nothing lead. And you know, Tampa has been kind of
a house of horrors for the Eagles, so for them,
it was just a big shot of confidence to jump
(19:21):
out seven to nothing in a place where they haven't
played well.
Speaker 7 (19:24):
Under Nick Sirianni.
Speaker 8 (19:25):
So that is one aspect of it.
Speaker 7 (19:28):
And I think their.
Speaker 8 (19:28):
Defense has really done a nice job. They're not really
sacking the quarterback, but they're they're affecting quarterbacks with their
pass rush.
Speaker 7 (19:36):
They only have five sacks.
Speaker 8 (19:38):
Their edge rushers have a total of a half a sack,
and that came from Zadarias Smith, who they signed after
the opening game against the Cowboys, So you know they don't.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Have Nolan Smith.
Speaker 8 (19:48):
They had to put him on ir But I think
their defense has played well. Cooper the Gene as a
cornerback in Quinnon Mitchell. You know, I think they're one
of the top cornerback duos in the NFL, if not,
you know the best. You know, Cooper de Gene had
nine tackles in Tampa, which tied his career high, and
Quinna and Mitchell had five passes defense.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
He was named the NFC's Player of the Week.
Speaker 8 (20:11):
So I think defense, and then you look at jo
Hot Campbell, the rookie linebacker.
Speaker 7 (20:15):
You know, two turnovers against the.
Speaker 8 (20:16):
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who came into that game without a
turnover in their first three games, helped them to get
to three and oh, and to hide Campbell force as
a fumble the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Turn into a touchdown.
Speaker 8 (20:25):
And then he has an end zone interception late in
the game when Tampa had all the momentum and looked
like they were driving to tie the game up. So
you know, they're getting very good play from.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
All three levels of their defense.
Speaker 8 (20:36):
And I think that plus their special teams acumen is
really is what's gotten them to four and oh. Right
now their offense needs to do its part or you know,
one of these days they're going to lose. It's pretty simple.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
Talking with that christ here, a sports illustrated a contrasting style.
I guess of defenses here. I mean we're all familiar
with it. Think does on defense. You mentioned the low
sack numbers, and you know the fans wants to send
the least amount of people he needs to at the
quarterback to be able to affect things.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
Drop everybody else back.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
That's Joseph wants to say, everybody at the quarterback and
get the sacks.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
But they both still come out as being great defenses.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
And even with Phillis Ben don't break you know philosophy,
they bog it down in the red zone. They get
you settling for field goals, which you know it can work.
The last thing you want to do is be behind
at the end of the game because then that that's
kind of a problem with your opponent has the ball.
But it could definitely work. We've seen it here. We've
seen it work here in Denvor. My question is more
about the offensive side of the ball here. You know,
(21:34):
I never thought Kellen Moore was to be all end all,
but going from Kellen Moore to Petullo here has looked
like a significant downgrade for this offense so far.
Speaker 8 (21:44):
Yeah, I mean, you could look at Kevin Petulo as
one of the problems, you know. But Patulo is not
an outside guy.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
He was elevated from within. You know.
Speaker 8 (21:52):
He came here to Philadelphia with Siriani when Sirianni was
hired in twenty twenty one. So he's not a stranger
to these players. They're very familiar with each other. And
the players seemed to be backing him. Jal when Hurts
came out.
Speaker 7 (22:04):
And expressed the confidence in him.
Speaker 8 (22:06):
And AJ Brown said the same thing that it's not
Kevin Patulo, it's the players that need to go out
and execute.
Speaker 7 (22:12):
You know. To me, listen, I think one.
Speaker 8 (22:15):
Of their biggest problems is the offensive line. To be honest,
this is an offensive line that has probably been one
of the best in football, if not the best, over
the last you know, four years, three years. They've been
the two Super Bowls in the last couple of years.
So the offensive line to me looks like it's beat up.
It's a group that is letting Mackai Beckton walk away,
(22:35):
and they're starting Tyler Stein at that right guard spot.
You know, seems a good player, but he's not Beckon.
Beckton was very good in the run game, and you know,
Lane Johnson, who's thirty five years old now at right tackle.
He's kind of been in and out of the lineup with,
you know, a knee injury, a stinger injury, you know,
and then you talk about Landon Dickersons, three time Pro
(22:56):
bowler in his four years, he's to me, he does
not look one hundred percent. In fact, I know he's
not one hundred percent. And you know, he had a
knee injury during camp, he had a knee surgery coming
out of the Super Bowl. He has a back issue,
and he just does not look like the same player.
Speaker 7 (23:12):
So to me, the.
Speaker 8 (23:13):
Problem isn't so much patula, it's that old line. You
look at Saquon Barkley. You know, he's getting contacted in
the backfield so much more than the kid last year.
Last year he was three or four yards past the
line of scrimmage before anybody touched him. And this year
that is just not the case. And you know, I
think it's the offensive line, and.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
I just don't know how you improve. You know, I
don't think you.
Speaker 8 (23:34):
Can rest any of those guys because their depth is young,
so they're just gonna have to fight through what they're
fighting through. But if that line doesn't play better, I.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Think this offense is going to continue to struggle.
Speaker 8 (23:45):
Now, one thing they're doing well is there eleven for
eleven when they get in the red zone. You know,
the red zone offense has been lights out. You know,
they've converted all eleven trips there into touchdowns, so that
leads the league. And you know that's if they can
keep doing that, that'll help them win some games. But
this offensive line needs to play better, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
In my mind, that's that's a big problem.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
It's interesting you say that because when you look at
the overall stats, you know, the Eagles inside the red
zone offensively one of the better teams in the league.
But defensively, as far as shutting the door on teams,
they they've kind of put themselves in that category. And
we watch albeit against the Cincinnati Bengals here on Monday Night,
that the Broncos were able to get the run game together.
(24:29):
The Broncos are now playing with a lot of confidence
as far as running the ball. How do you think
dig Dangel comes up with a way to slow down RJ.
Harvey and JK. Dobbins.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Yeah, I mean that always.
Speaker 8 (24:40):
You know, I think every team that's the number one
goal going in any game has stop the run and
try to make a team one dimensional. Then you can
kind of cut loose with your you know, your blitzes,
your pass rush, whatever you want to do to get
home to the quarterback. So you know how they're going
to stop them. I mean, you know, if it becomes
a problem, they can creak guys up to the line
of scrimmage. Like I said, Cooper, the gene to me
(25:01):
is a very good tackler.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (25:03):
It's hard to get outside on this team. You know,
the Bucks tried to pop stuff outside with Bucky Irvin
and Rashad White and they had a hard time doing
it because the cornerback play is.
Speaker 7 (25:13):
So quick on the outside.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
With Mitchell h Cooper the gene, Uh, they're.
Speaker 7 (25:18):
Good tacklers too. So you know, I just think they're going.
Speaker 8 (25:21):
To do what they do best, and that's kind of
play the run as well as they can and try
to make bo Nicks beat them, uh and affect him as.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Much as they can.
Speaker 8 (25:29):
And what's going to be, let's face it a tough
environment here in Philadelphia.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Gregs from Sports Illustrated, you know, one of the the
interesting things.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
That you watch the offense this year.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
A lot of that he's predicated on Jalen Hurts, and
you know they want him to be able to create
and make plays. He has largely been successful with that,
you know, over the course of his career thus far.
Up against this defense, do you think that that you
really want to utilize his legs as much or you
try to keep him clean behind that offensive line and
try some other ways to maybe take the AGGRESSI from
(26:01):
the Denver Broncos out of it.
Speaker 8 (26:03):
Well, that's one of Jalen Hurts as big, big weapons
as his legs. You know, he's a dual threat quarterback.
You know, he's very You really have to pay attention
to him on the Reid option. You know, he made
a fourth and two run in Tampa down to the
two yard line of twenty six yard run just kind
of swept the outside off of a handoff fake to
say Kwon Barkley. So you know, the Broncos are gonna
(26:23):
have to pay attention that. They've got great team speed,
I think the Broncos, so you know they're gonna have
to I don't know, if you play with a spy
on Jalen Hurts to take away that that leg ability
that he has because he's very, very good. Obviously, everybody
talks about the tush push and you know that's how
he scores. But you know, he's he's a threat anywhere
on the field, to be honest, when he starts to
(26:45):
scramble on the designed runs that they sometimes use, so
that's not going to go anywhere. The Eagles are going
to try to get him, you know, into space when
they can. He's good at keeping plays alive, picking up
yards when the play looks dead. But you know, listen
this Bronco's pass rush. What they lead the NFL in
sacks with fifteen of them, and you know, Nick Benito
(27:05):
is just playing lights out four and a half sacks.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
And you know, like I.
Speaker 8 (27:09):
Said, that teams speed that they have on that side
of the ball could create problems for hurt So you know,
we'll see if they try to beat them more in
the pocket, if the Eagles try to keep Hurts more
anchored in the pocket and get have him get rid
of the ball, you know, a little more quicker than
he's accustomed.
Speaker 5 (27:26):
So what is the city of Philadelphia's viewpoint of looking
at bow Nicks? Last week it was Baker Mayfield another athletic,
mobile quarterback. Bow brings those same types of skills. What's
kind of been the overall viewpoint of looking at bow
and kind of threat that he presents.
Speaker 8 (27:45):
Yeah, you know when he's on, he's you know, he's
a very very good quarterback. You know, still young in
the game, you know, in the NFL game, I should
say only what the second year, you know, so he's
still growing, he's still learning, but you know he's a
threat when he's on. We saw last week, you know,
he throws for you know, the career high three hundred
and twenty plus yards, picked that Bengals defensive part and
(28:06):
it was funny, you know. Vic Fangio was asked about
the Baker Mayfield and bow Nicks and what he thinks
of both those quarterbacks, and he said that bow Knicks
could be Baker Mayfield's younger brother. I mean, that's how
similar they play the game. You know, they're both competitive,
they both aren't afraid to pull the trigger, and they
(28:27):
like to keep plays alive. And that's who he compared
him to.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Very elusive. So yeah, the Eagles, you know, they.
Speaker 8 (28:34):
Maybe it's to their Eagles advantage having played Mayfield because
Nix and him. I think, according to Fangio, they're cut
from the same cloth, so to speak. So you know,
maybe that's an advantage Eagles.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
We'll see.
Speaker 8 (28:44):
But you know, it's interesting to hear Fangio comparing the Mayfield,
who I think is you know, a great story in
this league and has really come a long way. And
you know, now he's one of the better quarterbacks in
the league. So bow Knicks could develop into that type
of a quarterback.
Speaker 7 (28:58):
Is he there now?
Speaker 8 (28:59):
I don't think so, But you know, give him another year,
another two years, and I think you're going to see good,
you know, even better things out of Bounicks.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Talk with Ed Grex from Sports Illustrated, edes is the
Broncos look at this thing? I think Saquan is the
thing that they're most I don't want to say afraid of,
but kind of, you know, for the purposes of these conversations,
who from the Broncos are are the Eagles most afraid of?
Speaker 8 (29:20):
Well, I think you have to look, you know, on
the offensive side of the ball, I would say it's
probably Courtland Sutton. You know, he's got that size. You know,
I'm sure Qunyan Mitchell he has been following the other
team's best receiver. He matched up with a Mecca, yeah,
micag Buka from Tampa last week, and he really shut
him down. Uh, he only caught two passes for six
(29:42):
yards against him. So he'll probably match up against Courtland Sutton.
Speaker 7 (29:46):
But Sutton's a.
Speaker 8 (29:46):
Big, tall, you know, rangy guy where if Nicks just
throws it up to him and he makes it kind
of a jump ball.
Speaker 5 (29:53):
You know.
Speaker 8 (29:53):
Mitchell's only you know, five eleven, you know, great athleticism,
he can jump, but you know, I think that's an
advantage Sutton in that situation. And on defense, I mentioned Benito,
and you know that guy is just tremendous. I mean,
he can impact the game, turning the football over a
big sack on a third down. And I mentioned the
(30:14):
Eagles offensive line's been banged up and that's gonna be
a real challenge for them.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
To me, is stopping you know Benito.
Speaker 8 (30:20):
I like John Franklin Myers more of a pass rush
guy inside.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
You know.
Speaker 8 (30:25):
So that's to me on the defensive side of the
all is Bonito and that that pass rush that I
could get home against the line the Eagles line, that
to me just is not the same as it's been
these last three years.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
Let's kind of fast forward into the future and this
to say, if the Eagles were to lose his game
at home, the headlines in Philadelphia would.
Speaker 6 (30:50):
Read like, what.
Speaker 8 (30:55):
Good question?
Speaker 2 (30:56):
You know Eagles suffer.
Speaker 8 (30:57):
First, listen, I don't think there'll be any panic. And
the Eagles building, you know, you're not going to go
seventeen and oh, you're going to lose somewhere along the line.
Eagles fans, you know, they're an up and down group.
They'll probably panic, But you know, I don't think a
loss would be you know, any sort of you know,
be it a little dent in the armor, I guess,
(31:17):
But you know, I think the Eagles would be fine
with it. I mean their schedule the first four weeks.
I mean, listen, they've beat division winners the last three weeks,
division winners from last year. They beat the Chiefs, then
they beat Tampa. They beat the Rams and then they
beat Tampa. You know, those three teams won the division
last year. To me, those first four games, I didn't
think they'd come out of it four and oh, to
(31:38):
be honest with you, So now you have the Broncos,
a very tough matchup I think for the Eagles. With
this game, I can see the Broncos beating them. But
then the Eagles go to the Giants on Thursday, a
division game, and then they ten days rest, they go
to Minnesota, who's struggling, and then they played the Giants
at home again. So you know, these next three games
after Denver, if you lose, you know, I just think
(32:00):
you kind of shrug it off and say, Okay, let's
learn from what we did wrong and let's correct it
and get ready for these next couple of games here
that we could win heading into the bye week.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Last one for me ed is Beetles Giants two out
of your next three after this one.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
You look at Jackson Dart.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
You know, he had a little bit of success there
against the Chargers, using his legs kind of hit him
a little in the passing game early. Is there is
there suddenly any looming threat from the Giants, who have
kind of been a bottom dweller in that division for
a while.
Speaker 8 (32:26):
Yeah, I think losing May League Neighbors really hurts. You know,
he would he obviously is a game changer, and you
know him and Jackson Dart are going to grow together
over these next few years. But you know, without him,
it's the road's gotten a little bit tougher. I think
their offensive line is still challenged. Defense, obviously for the Giants,
very good. But Jackson Dart, yeah, I mean he's a
(32:48):
guy who would be making I guess his third career
start when the Eagles play there on Thursday. And you know,
he looked good. He looked good in his first game
against the Chargers. But you know it's in the Chargers,
don't they always play one of these kind of games
for the last fifteen years. He win in New York,
you're pretty heavily favored. I'm sorry the game. The game
is in New York.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
He win in New York.
Speaker 8 (33:06):
And the Chargers, you know, they should have won that game.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
But the Giants found a way.
Speaker 8 (33:10):
And if you play with a little bit of confidence now,
it gives you confidence. Yeah, they could be a threat,
but I just don't think they're ready to take that
step and find a way to beat the Eagles. I
mean I think they should be. You know, there's no
layups in the NFL, but the Eagles should find ways
to win those division games against the Giants.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
At Crag Sports Illustrated, Appreciate your.
Speaker 8 (33:28):
Time, Buddy, hey anytime, guys, Thank you.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
Absolutely take care.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Cracks from Sports Illustrated react to some of that as well.
As we've got Sean Payton and Dave Logan breaking down
to play, I think we're going to get to here
as well.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Brocos Country Night backup of this
