day in business is a big day. Comcast Business will keep you ready for
what's next. Comcast Business Powering Possibilities. I just got to get out there

(00:25):
and swing and ding it. Yeah, you know, just guess it's gonna
go out there and try to swingit and ding it. All right,
Hello and welcome to Swing It andDing It and iHeartMedia podcast sponsored by DraftKings
Sportsbook. This is Moose along withHarry Mays. I don't think we're having
Danielle today, Harry. I thinkshe's a little tied up down in Jupiter
area with baby Matthews on the way. There's a lot of obligations that comes

(00:48):
with that, you know what Imean. Absolutely, that's the real important
stuff, no doubt about it,no doubt about it. But we keep
it, we keep it local,Harry. Last week, you know,
we had a great show with KenPhillips, the president of golf Oociation in
Philadelphia, created a little bit ofa storm on social media when we talked
about favorite courses of course, We'regoing to do that to Mike Bowman at
the end of the show, butwe would like to introduce Mike Bowman,

(01:08):
President and CEO of Value Forged Tourism, which encompasses Monco Golf, which is
why we're talking to Mike. Let'sface it, welcome to swing it and
diga man. Thank you. It'sgreat to be on with you guys.
Good to see it. A nicesunny day. Absolutely, So let's start
with with Monco Golf. Right overover fifty public and private courses that kind
of fall under that purview. Talkabout what will you what you guys do

(01:32):
your role in trying to promote thosecourses and getting people to experience it in
different ways. So that's a greatquestion. We we uh are our job
is to economically bring people to MontgomeryCounty for things to do. Uh.
The ultimate goal is to fill ofour hotels and we have a huge supply

(01:55):
of hotels and Montgomery County, asyou guys know, as you among us,
it's the third largest county. Youknow, you have Philadelphia, the
Pittsburgh region they have here and golfUH is a gem for Montgomery County.
And what's interesting about golf fit golfcourses, but we also the golf courses

(02:16):
on our border, whether it's Erotomanic, Marion or some really like Premium.
I don't have heard of this rightin our backyard too. We you know,
having close to ten thousand hotel rooms. The King of Prussia Mall has
twenty five million people a year gothrough it, and Historic Valley Force National

(02:39):
Park. Golf is a natural complementwith quality and class and respect and integrity,
and we promote golf everywhere. Wedo a lot internationally. We've rebounded
really nice since COVID. We doa lot regionally, and look, at
the end of the day, ourultimate golf is to have people, you

(03:01):
know, stay over night too anddine. Like I said earlier, you
know, we're responsible for one pointseven billion dollars annually and economic impact.
We saw golf in twenty sixteen aslike, what are we doing. We're
not talking about golf right now,you know, we're not talking the way
we should be. We and wecertainly weren't out to book foursoms and tea

(03:23):
times and various things. We wantedto just get the awareness out at first,
and as you guys knowing like twentysixteen, golf was struggling a little
bit. You know, it wasthe younger generation of millennials. We all
read about it. We saw itlike the time it took too long.

(03:44):
They didn't want to join private clubsat the grandfather of the father, may
or the grandmother belonged to. Therewas a lot of tentacles that were flying
with the golf industry, so westarted talking about golf. We're down to
the Golf Show and the PGA Showpartner up with Jeff's al right, is
one of the best in the industry. We love Jeff. You know,

(04:06):
there's people in the region, uhto just talk about up and at the
end of the day, our firstpriority was linking up to the events that
took place at the golf courses becausethe people coming in for weddings and all
that stuff are staying overnight and spendingmoney. So things are going and going

(04:28):
and going, and then uh,COVID comes and as you know, it's
that that horrible word, right, and we all know what happened. But
if you think back to professional sports, you know, baseball football, they're
doing the cardboard cutouts and the standsand they're trying to make the expension it's

(04:48):
a disaster, right, and Ithink the Masters was one of the first
ones that they moved the day,I believe I remember. And we do
a lot with CBS and NBC seewith marketing for the region and bare the
ratings go through the roof because golfjust nailed it with that feeling, that

(05:11):
emotional connection, seeing it normalization, and we started hearing from our partners in
the golfins man, we're coming back, they want to play, My god,
young, oh if they used toplay, they're getting sticks out,
they just want to play golf. And it happened everywhere, but we saw
an uptick here that just really tookoff. So we said, hey,
we're going to raise the bar. We've got to push this even more out

(05:35):
there. So we started partnering withthe National Golf events are taking place in
CBS and NBC. We have commercialsthat aired during those events in the Tri
state region all the way up toNew York, Delaware, South Jersey.
And then we're measuring response rates,we're tracking things and we're seeingior coming.

(05:57):
The cool thing for us with golfand it's really and how well it's doing
is the other things to do whileyou're here golfing. And if you're going
to golf, bring the found. If you're going to bring the family,
go to Legover, you know,go to the valley for adential park.
There's a natural connection. And ifyou look at behavior coming out of COVID,
people just want space. They wanttheir own space on their own terms.

(06:21):
And then you know the way forthe husband want to golf, and
it's space and they can do thatand everyone else can do other things.
And you know, we're certainly notmyrtle bage. We're certainly not these other
destinations, but we have, asyou guys know, a lot of rich
tradition here with God. Yeah,Moose and I like to talk about it

(06:42):
in the private club sector as anembarrassment of riches, but when you're talking
about public golf, the public golfis terrific in this area. I mean,
I can just think of three coursesthat I've played numerous times in Montgomery
County Jeffersonville, Pearl Creek, Raven'sClaw. I mean, there's tons of
real good public golf. It justgoes on and on and on, and

(07:04):
there's a story and all the golfcourses, you know, there's history,
and then you look at even youknow some of the the the ravens call
the waver and then you go outto posts a great track track and not
all but as you guys know, some of the hiring courses and the private
courses will allow you to get onit. Just know the right people to

(07:26):
make the right call. And ifyou're a member of a club somewhere else
in the Tri State region, reallygood chance of getting on because some of
the courses. But but you knowthe line I use quite a bit when
I'm talking to business owners and hoteldevelopers and various people. I think you
know, especially guys, we takeit for granted. When you drive down

(07:46):
a road side road or whatever. You haven't been down that road and you
look through the trees and it's aspring day and you see a green fairway.
Something even if you don't play that, something happens and you look to
the trees, if you're sitting ata red light or whatever, you're like,
wow, that looks pretty nice. And answer driving your head doesn't leave

(08:07):
you keep looking right and you getthat hurt that green which is just like
magical, right, and there's there'sa quality element to it. And when
you have as many golf courses aswe have. That's a nice asset to
have that complements the area. Theother part, too, is just business.

(08:28):
You know, the business world,as you guys know, really got
devastated because of people not being backtheir offices. But golf started changing.
You know, it's started getting busierin the afternoons and you know, things
are different, especially on Thursdays. We saw the big shift. We have
a lot of life sciences and majorcorporations in this area and there's a lot

(08:50):
of golfers associated to that world.Uh and and they're coming in now more
and more with their steps, youknow, they're coming into golf, have
a meeting for day and a half, leave you know, and play these
courses. So we're seeing we studya lot of behavior, and we're seeing
a lot of these shifts more andmore than are curring with golf in our

(09:11):
in our backyard. What do yousee as far as that, you know,
the business, the conventions that typeof compared to families, vacations or
golf trips. You know, whatwould you say is kind of the mix
that you guys see? Great question. So, so we used to be
in like twenty and sixteen seventeen,we were at like forty five percent of

(09:35):
the business that we brought into thecounty was corporate business. Twenty two percent
was sports youth sports. We're atseventy three percent use sports now. Wow,
wow, the corporate business. Youknow, I'm looking out my window
right now in King of Prussia. There's a real big empty parking lot next
to me right now. So thisshift has occurred with corporate mid week mid

(10:00):
weeks. So we're pushing stuff todo midweek now heading into April and May
strong with a campaign. The weekendleisure business is through the roof. It's
just unbelievable. People say to meall the time, who are they?
Where are they coming from? Right? And we're seeing a lot of families.

(10:22):
We see a ton of traffic onour website on Thursdays, and the
number one reason why people on ourwebsite is probably women, right, and
they're looking for things to do forthe weekend because they're saying to our husband,
I got to get out, wegot to get out. We're going
somewhere right. So now we emitionyou connect to golf, you know other

(10:45):
things, food, shopping and theseother ancillary things that connect them to come
out hotels would endure swimming pools. So if you have young kids, that's
generally this time of the year,it could be a puddle, right,
it's just it's pool there because ofthe pool. But the weekend business is
just gang busters with leisure, families, reunions, weddings, and sports.

(11:13):
Uh. We're seeing April and Junewill be the biggest months we've ever had
in the hotel sector of Montgomery Countyever with sports connected with a lot of
it's crazy sports. It's quidditch,it's spiteball, it's paintball, it's but
again, this has all changed sinceCOVID. This has shifted golf last season,

(11:39):
you guys, one of their numbers, you see what's going on was
a great year. At the endof the year. You know, I
talked to several big you know, golf executives. What do you think is
gonna happen next year? Right? And in general consensus, well, it's
probably gonna stayble off a little bit. It's just going to normalize. In
the past few weeks, I've talkedto a few Oh my god, we're
seeing it our already. It's upticket. I mean, people are already

(12:03):
booking tea times. They're they're callingus up. It's they're Jones more than
ever. They're they're coming. SoI personally think it's going to be like
a great year for golf in theregion. Yeah, and then post pandemic,
you also got a top golf builtwhich is right next to a casino
hotel. And then you can alsotake a walk at Valley Forge Park,

(12:24):
which is like a mile away.Yeah, great way, man, you
should come work for us and allthe great restaurants that are within like a
mile of that place. It's unbelievable. Yeah, you've got the King of
Pressure malls. Get ready. They'rebuilding Italy, yeah, which is one
of the top Italian restaurants in thecountry. It's restaurants. Yeah, it's
You've got a lot of this comingto the suburbs. The suburbs more and

(12:50):
more are just yeah. Yeah,we're we're affiliated in partners with the Amateur
Golf Society, So I've been I'vebeen exposed to some of the courses because
of that, which is awesome, and I think that's such a cool thing
that you know, people are gettingto see golf courses that they may not
have ever you know, gotten onor even knew about to some degree.
Uh, and now they're able toexperience them. So I love seeing partnerships

(13:13):
like that. I'm sure that's somethingyou guys, you know, really look
look forward to, you know, kicking off this golf season. Yeah,
I really, I you know,it's people are people are just emotionally different
than they were four years ago, five years ago. People are making decisions
differently and are looking for quality thingsto do what we're doing our we do

(13:39):
a tourism rally every year to April, and we the US Travel comes out
of their their theme for the yearfor the country for travel, for tourism,
and then everyone that has a rallymedia attention. We I decided in
twenty sixteen when started getting the golf, to really focus on golf at the

(14:03):
rally. So we have the rally, we have all these elected officials,
and then we do a real highand nice golf event to focus on golf.
We wait a bunch of reporters into just talk about how public are
private doesn't matter. So what we'venoticed is this year we're going to manufacturers
and it sold out. You know. It's it's it says that right away

(14:26):
there's no mulligans any of that. It's just high end golf. And then
it's we have some really cool amenities. We bring in the Capitol girls and
various restaurants to be out there, and it's a great event just to talk
about golf. Several of the peoplewho come up from South Jersey to play
in this event for us, theydon't get a chance to play Manufacturers.

(14:48):
You don't get a chance to playthe Union League. They don't get a
chance to play some of these courses, right. So that's why they look
like we're in and it's a greatday. It's a complete day. It's
not, but this year more thanever, just sold out. We put
on social media and then when nuts. Uh. What we noticed too is
quite a few companies are buying forcesjust to get the women or the guys

(15:09):
out for the day. They getsome fresh air and play golf. But
play and one of these nuggets andI don't know if you guys have been
in Manufacturers, but kids from workto the to the course and to the
building during during the pandemic, it'sgorgeous. And they got all that pickleball
over there too. They build aspectacular bar on top of the four area,

(15:31):
elevated second level looking out of thewhole course. That's spectacular. Yeah,
you know, and that's what peopleare looking for. But it's the
golf, but it's the experience. They got thaticular running again or what.
Yeah, they were working on it. We were there the other day.
Yeah. That but that's that's funny. Brought that up because how many people

(15:52):
mentioned that to me? They knowmanufacturers. Yes, it's one of those
hidden gems. Yeah, yeah,I know it's two years down the line,
but you got anything planned for whenthe major championship comes to the area.
We're all over it. Man,that would be good years ago.
Marion, we killed it and ifbad weather helped us. And then the
DNW at Erodi. I guess they'resaying, you, guys, we're in

(16:15):
a position because we have a lotof full service hotels and things that do
so with with the UH, there'sgonna be eighty thousand people at People don't
realizing America two fifty, which isgoing to compliment golf like it's never seen
in this region. Is you've gotWorld Cup soccer and you've got close to

(16:37):
six hundred thousand people are definitely gonnabe in this you've got the Major League
All Star Game. Yeah, you'vegot erotomic, You've got a Marion House
in an event, right, andyou've got a bunch of citywide Indian the
breath of our country. So theViyceford National Parks are gonna be celebrating Independence
Hall. There's gonna be a lotof people coming to the region. Internationally,
we're starting to push golf and seeingto do out to the UK and

(17:02):
Germany. Right now. We justput a plan together and saying hey,
get ready because the Europeans like toplan their travel like eighteen months or two
years out their holiday holiday and theystill are focused on that and then and
they get so many more vacation daysthan we do. Oh my gosh.
Crazy you ever you're at a resortwith someone from England, They're like,

(17:26):
is this your week's vacation. I'mlike, yeah, we've been here for
four weeks. I've been there fora month. And then they're going somewhere
else on the way home. Yes, yeah, that's it's it's you guys.
What do you guys think about what'shappened with GONF over the past few
years. Well, we started thispodcast a month before the pandemic hit right,

(17:48):
and I was inspired to kind ofstart this after Tiger won the Masters,
Like it just like brought me backin in a way that I had
never been before. And then youknow, we we kind of rode the
wave and rote you know, wroteit out with with COVID. But we
saw just an increase in interests fromevery different demographic across the board. And
it's been so cool to talk toall the different people in the game of

(18:11):
golf every week, whether it's locallyhere in Philly or pros or anything.
It's just the excitement level is atan all time high. Yeah, yeah,
I agree with it. The energyis is really powerful and there's just
as there's a strong connection to itnow and then on a supper. Now
with golf courses, clubs, privateand public, the events are through the

(18:34):
room. People want to have theirevents. They've all put focus on their
food and you guys to see that. Yeah, last year we played in
several events, you know, communityevents and various things, and Jake cre
you met and I would leave itin October CLI somewhere and I said,
you don't, I don't notice everyplace we've been pretty much this spring summer,

(18:56):
and fall. There's storyboards in alot, right, there's a renovation
of bunkers, there's a new teaboxes, there's a new grill room.
There's everyone's putting capital. And Icome from the business world. When you
see capital being back into these certainbusinesses, you know it's working. And

(19:17):
there's a lot of renovations have takenplace. Yeah, there's a lot of
money going back and that's a greatsign. Oh yeah, oh yeah,
Well listen, we will get youout of here on this now. We
got Ken Phillips from the from theGap in trouble a little bit last week,
so we're gonna look to do thatto you this week. Now.
Remember, folks, this is anopinion, right. People can have them

(19:37):
and they can be different. Peopleget very territorial about this stuff. Oh
yeah, you're killing me. Iknow. I'm like, let's let's frame
it this way. Okay, yourbest friends coming in from the West Coast
for a couple of days, andyou're going to get a chance to take
them to a public course and aprivate course in Montgomery County. Where's your
first two phone calls? Well,of course, you know, how can
you go home with the Union League? Yes, I Trust was out there

(20:03):
yesterday for something. It's fantastic. They're killing it every course and they just
talk about experiences from the drive in, from private standpoint to the antique car
out FRONTI you walk into all therenovations they did in the course and and
and they just have a great leadershipteam out and everything they're doing. I

(20:26):
personally like Ravens call too. Ilike the track. I like Calbrett Ravens
calls. We had the LPGA outthere for years ago. I just like
the layout. And I think froma value standpoint, they don't guge you.
They operate really good. It's it'sjust to me, it's a good,
very good public course. Really,I really I couldn't agree more great

(20:48):
stuff, Mike. We appreciate thetime. Love to see you guys.
Anything you can to help with yourplanning, just let us know. We're
absolutely yeah. What you do forgolf. I mean, you guys are
doing a really good job. Thankyou, Mike, appreciate it. All
right, let's take a quick breakand we will be right back. All

(21:11):
right, Welcome back to Swing Itand Ding It. Nice to talk to
Mike Bowman, President and CEO ofValley Force tourism and Manco Golf. Har
I mean Bluebelt, Bluestone, Cedarbrook, Green Valley, mccobe, Ravens Claw
Golf Mills, Jeffersonville, Letterack,Lulu Manufacturers, Philly Country Club Squires,
like, yeah, that's a county. It's crazy what we have here.
It really is. Oh, Iknow, and you're just basically scratching the

(21:33):
surface. Yeah, forget about Letterack. When it comes to public golf,
that's terrific in this area. ButI've been out there, you know,
quite a few times, and Imake it a point to get to Jeffersonville
at least twice. I still haven'tbeen. I got to get there with
you. We had those guys onI know they were making some renovations in
the last off season. So yeah, that's that's on my list. Man.
I got to get there this yearfor sure, for subsolutely. So

(21:56):
the Genesis Invitational, Harry, notmuch happened, No, especially on Saturday,
you know, no big deal.I mean, listen, Hideki's final
round right nine under sixty two, finishes at seventeen under goes three shots over
Zalaturus and Luke List. But youknow, a lot of the stories happened
on Saturday, Right, you haveTiger Woods on the golf cart. There's

(22:18):
rumors of him having backspasms. You'relike, oh, man, don't tell
me. This man his first event. I've never seen people happier to see
someone with the flu in my life. Yeah. Well, yeah, that
was actually Friday, Friday that hewent through. And you know, because
Thursday, remember the shank, thetiger shank on the eighteenth hole with his

(22:40):
approach shot. And then you findout afterwards or at least this is what
he said, and I had totake him as his word. He had
a backspasm and it forced him to, you know, a hozzle rock at
the thing. He ends up makinga great recovery shot and I believe he
made bogey, but he almost madepar. And then Friday he's out there
and people are saying he doesn't lookcomfortable watching him on the rings. They

(23:00):
watch every move that he mevers.Right, he can't take a step on
that procurger, exactly an in andout burger. I wonder if it was
a bad burger. It's unbelievable. But you know, that's the world that
he lives in. And then yousee him on I heard about it on
five, the par four. Hemarked his ball after he chipped it or

(23:25):
putted it up onto the green, marked it and went to the restroom,
which is really kind of odd, like they don't do that unless there's an
emergency. They don't. They don'tleave it to the restroom until the hole
is over right, he goes inbetween shots, and then after the hole
was completed they're walking to the sixty, he goes again. This was reported
after the fact, of course, but he was obviously in a in a

(23:48):
discomfort and when he when he wasin that cart being driven back to the
clubhouse and you know, kind ofput his head down by the way,
and could he have picked a fartheraway hole to it was like like the
OJ. Yeah, they were followingthat golf cart for like twenty minutes.
I'm like, get this white bronco, the white bronco. J. Yeah,
he's at the southernmost tip of thegolf course. You're correct, he

(24:10):
comes right up seven. It seemedto take that's a great analogy. I
didn't think of that. That's brilliant. And that happened, you know,
like a couple of blocks away.Brent Wood, the man Rockingham or whatever,
it was the name of the streetthat's not far from there. But
yeah, great, great call byyou. Then we get the whole thing
with speif Oh God and that bizarreness. Yeah, where Tom Kim is his

(24:32):
playing in his group and I guesswas keeping his score and I remember watching
the hole. The fourth is thatpar three, the real tough long par
three that Ben Hogan says the bestpart three, you know he's ever played.
He kind of hooked his t shota little bit, it went left
to the green. He made aship and then missed the putt and tapped
in for four. Tom Kim writesdown a three by mistake, and Speith

(24:59):
goes to the scoring tent. He'sfeeling ill, leaves the scoring area without
really thoroughly checking his card and signedfor an incorrect scorecard because he had to
go to the locker room to goto the bathroom. Unbelievable. You know,
it's interesting too, before we knewthat all this sickness was going around,
right, because it comes out toCantlay was not feeling well either.

(25:21):
Michael Kim, who's a great followon Twitter. Oh, he said that
he's seen this happen a handful oftimes. Where you sign it in correct
scorecard. He said. Every timehe's seen it happen, he said,
is when someone was pissed off orangry or didn't finish well and he had
just doubled I believe eighteen eighteen,And he said, that's always way it
happened. You're like mad, You'reworrying about going to the range to fix
your game. You don't pay asmuch attention. It was interesting when he

(25:45):
said that, I mean, addingthe sickness part, it's like, Okay,
you know he might have been holdingsomething back and trying to just get
the heck out of there. We'veall been there. Yeah, but yeah,
just a wild, a wild newscycle, especially on X that night,
you know, with all this stuffbreaking, it was crazy. And
then you had the ace from willZala Taurus, which is one of the

(26:06):
most unbelievably compressed golf shots I thinkI've ever seen on television, not hit
by Tiger Woods. It was unbelievable. Iron You're just the sound of that
thing. And then he gets theGenesis vehicle, he gets one for his
caddy, and the embrace that thosetwo guys had after he threw the club
in the air was just awesome, tremendous, and then it comes out,
you know, Daniel Rappaport from fourplay as just a are you emotional about

(26:30):
coming back? Just more about hisinjury and everything, and come to find
out he lost a family member onThursday and it seemed to be someone very
close to him, and it was. He got extremely emotional in the post
round presser. But I love seeingZala Taurus back too. He went broom
handle, Harry, I think drastic. He needed to make a drastic move

(26:52):
and I think he did it.Yeah, and the putting stroke looks so
much better, and you know he'she's gonna win very soon, I believe.
But yeah, he goes at fourteenunder Bogue. He made a bogie
on fifteen, but that ace wasjust unbelievable. And you're right, it's
great to see him back. ButI'll tell you Hideki was so impressive.

(27:12):
Man. I went through a realrange of emotion. I love this tournament.
It's my favorite non major because ofthe golf course and just the history
there. But you started out withthinking, man, can't they should win
this. He's got a two shotlead, he's playing great. You know,
he just seems totally in control. He makes all pars on the front
and then goes plus one on theback and it just was never really kind

(27:34):
of showed any kind of energy tohis round, And then you're thinking,
Wow, Luke List has taken holdof this tournament. On the front nine,
he shot thirty. Then he goesthrough ten, eleven, twelve,
He goes bogie par on the parfive, which is like a bogie,
and then he bogeies again and hefalls down the list. Then you've got
five guys, I believe we're tiedat fourteen under at one point in time,

(27:57):
all on the back nine, andall of a sudden hit deck.
He's like, oh yeah, heput the pedal on the floor and birdie.
What uh? Fifteen, sixteen, and seventeen all in a row.
He made three birdie on three successiveholes three times in that tournament. One,

(28:18):
two, three, ten, eleven, twelve, twelve is so hard.
I mean it's hard to make paron that hole for those guys.
He birdies it and then goes fifteen, sixteen, seventeen. Just brilliant stuff.
Yeah, absolutely tremendous. Ye Ican't lay ends up with a with
a T four with Xander and Adamhadwin. Yeah, I was, you
know, messing with coach who doesa great job. Awesome listening to him

(28:40):
on PGA Tour Live. Oh yeah. And then I hit up Michael Collins
and asked if he was being paidby the Cocuya. Oh, he was
killing the kokua, I mean, just all over it, yep. And
it was, uh, this weekit'll be past palam Oh yeah, and
you'll kill it with past palam thisyeah. Yeah, but yeah, I
mean the that hit Decky hit onfifteen from one hundred and eighty nine yards,

(29:04):
he hits it to eight inches, and then on the next hole,
that par three, one hundred andsixty yards, he puts it to six
inches. I mean that if youdon't enjoy that stuff, like, I
don't know what, I don't knowwhat. You know, even if you're
doing weren't rooting for him, it'sjust like, wow, when he catches
fire, he's tough. I wouldnot want that guy chasing me down now

(29:26):
like when he when he has it, he has it, man, he
and that was it, you know, he found it on Sunday and we
all remember him for always taking onehand off the club, you know,
and the shot usually ends up beinggreat. You know, like he puts
it to fifteen feet and you're like, what's he complaining about? He said
after the round to something of thisorder, like the way he felt like
he struck the ball. He shotthree over par. Wow, think about

(29:52):
that. He shot sixty two andin his mind he didn't even hit it
that good. Imagine that. Imaginethat. Wow, unbelievable. Yeah.
Yeah, but listen, great greattournament, great final on Sunday. I
mean, at one point there wasfive six guys all right there, yep,
all tied at fourteen under. Yeah. I mean, Decky his his
ninth win. We know he hasthe Masters, but that's the most PGA

(30:15):
Tour wins for an Asian born player. Now, so he passed kJ CHOI.
So he's now number one. Iwanna I'm gonna checking real quick because
I have a feeling. Yeah.I mean, he definitely jumped up on
the Master's board. Now he's attwenty eight hundred. I don't I mean,
he might have been around there, but he had to make a jump
after that win. You know,Yeah, I agree with you. Yeah,

(30:37):
great stuff on that. How areyou excited about Jim bones Bekai on
the lead analyst, I am actuallyyou know, of course he was doing
you know, this type of thingbefore he went back to caddying for JT.
But I know he's really really good. I mean he's if you ever
seen on Golf Channel those those whenthey play with a tour pro and they

(31:00):
play a couple of holes and hehe narrates and hosts some of those,
and he's just brilliant. I mean, you know, they just he knows
exactly what to say, exactly whatthe you know, questions to ask or
whatever. And he's he's really good. Yeah, we'll see. I Uh,
you don't like him, I don'tknow. I don't know. I

(31:21):
like him in short form. Ilike him on the course. I don't
know about I don't know. Hejust is like always so serious. Like
I like a little I like alittle levity in my analysts. You like
a little kissner. Yeah I dotoo. I do, because you know,
the main guy is always the straightguy, right, so like somebody
Dan Hicks is straight enough? Yeah? Yeah, have you made your decision

(31:44):
for one and done? I havenot. I'm in a quand I'm in
a I'm in a quandary. Uh. Tony Fenale's prohibitive favorite, as he
should be. He's by far andaway the best player in the field.
The field kind of suffers this week, and I have a question about that
that I want to post to it. But I'm torn between him because I'm
thinking, like when am I Whenam I going to use him? If

(32:04):
not this week? You know, you figure like, well, if you
burn him and he doesn't win,is it kind of a loss? You
know? And I get that. And he's finished second and he's finished first.
And that was when John Rahm wasin the tournament both years. Rom
won it two years ago, Tonyfinished second, Female won it last year
and I think beat Rom by threeshots. So this golf course and this

(32:27):
kind of grass. He's not thegreatest of potters normally, but this kind
of grass is slower, and heseems to to love this place. So
I'm between him and maybe in aGrillo a Miliano I went with I went
with Hoyguard. I went with NicoleHoygard. You've already you've already done.
I locked it in, Lock itin, all right? Yeah, I
locked it in. But let's let'sroll right into the Mexico Open. Not

(32:50):
the greatest field, right, weknow that that's what happens here before the
top fifty have female defending. Asyou mentioned, you have Hoyguard uh Grill,
oh Ryan Fox ram one here intwenty twenty two. As you mentioned,
definitely strokes gained off the tee areare key here. Wide fairways and
as you mentioned, the slower greens. So some guys to some guys find

(33:13):
their putter at an event like this, but it's at the Uh well,
I'll let you just roll into thecourse, of course, How well too,
O, yeah, yeah, let'slet's do it all right. This
is the Mexico Open at Vedanta andVedanta Vallarta, Mexico over there near Porta
Vallarta, I believe, on thewestern western side of Mexico. So they

(33:35):
mentioned the designer much during the broadcast. That's interesting, you asked that because
they should. It's Greg Norman. But of course with his you know,
being mister lived maybe not, butyou know he designed. He does a
great job. I think. Ilike most of his golf course, almost
seventy five hundred yards part seventy one, like you mentioned, very large,
wide fairways and large greens to gowith very large bunkers. There's a hund

(34:00):
hundred and six bunkers on this golfcourse, and a lot of them are
big and steep. You're going tosee the Ameca River and the Sierra Madres
mountains and practically every camera shot wetalked about the past palam grass, it's
past palam rough fairways and greens.Four par fives, and three of them
are on the back. Number twelvestretches out to six hundred and forty yards,

(34:22):
and then you've got number fourteen andnumber eighteen. They close with a
par five here, So a lotof drama with guys that you know,
obviously can get there in two andyou know, post a birdie or maybe
an eagle to win a golf tournament. Five par threes, three of them
are on the back, eleven, thirteen, and seventeen, and some tough
par fours on the back. Numberten played as one of the toughest holes

(34:45):
in the first two years. It'sit's the direction is usually dead into the
wind. It's four hundred and seventyfive yards and they have a tough time.
Some of these guys at a toughtime reaching it in two. They've
just come up to the front ofthe green. So watch out for that
Number sixteen is a par are forfive hundred and five yards. Twenty four
under won it last year, soyou got to make a lot of birdies.

(35:06):
We mentioned Fenw beating rom By threeand a couple of guys that are
you know, that are in thisfield. Grillo finished tied for fifth last
year. Wyndham Clark, who's notin the field this year, actually finished
t twenty four last year. Thefield was a little bit better last year.
And I'm want to pose this questionto you. Tommy Fleetwood has yet
to win a PGA Tour event. Why is Tommy Fleetwood not in Mexico competing

(35:31):
in this event just to try toyou know, he'd be the best player
out there, him and Fenal goingout and on Sunday Fleetwood gets his win
and gets the monkey off his backsas they say, and maybe the floodgates
open, as the broadcasters love tosay after you get your first win.
I mean, really, what's hedoing? It makes you think how important
is winning to all of these guys? Yeah, when you're filthy rich because

(35:53):
you play the sport. Some guyswe know just one to win. They
don't care, right, Others I'mnot sure about. I get they don't
really care about the million five ormillion six that they're gonna win, but
he needs a win. Yeah, you know, I don't know, but
the finish is pretty good here. The sixteenth is a long, tough par
four fairway bunkers on the left, there's three bunkers guard the front of the

(36:15):
green. Seventeen is a long parthree, long carryover water with a big
bunker between the water and the leftside of the green. And then we
mentioned eighteen the par five, bigbunkers on the left. It's kind of
a soft dog leg left to right, big native area on the left,
large green with two big bunkers inthe front. Now you know it's it's
a weak field, but you know, for a Sunday afternoon when it's gonna

(36:38):
be cold outside, what else areyou gonna do? That's rights off beautiful
scenery. Yeah, and speaking thebed on golf, Harry, let's see
the line with our friends from DraftKingsSportsbook. A couple guys I'm keeping an
eye on this week. Jonathan VegasT twenty two Waste Management. He's got
a nice number at five thousand.Austin Ekro I like him in a top

(36:59):
five at plus eleven hundred, Wow, Teller Pendrith twenty five hundred and Hoygard
his number is short right at fourteenhundred, but he's got five top fives,
a T two of corrals Puntakano whichalso has slower greens, so he
could get to win. And thenEvr, I'm you know, I'm still
riding the e VR train Joggers. It's a jogger crew for life, and

(37:21):
I got to run. I gotto run with my man EVR. Absolutely.
I think EVR is playing with Grillothe first two days. I like
that, and that's a pretty goodgrouping they have. Yeah, you mentioned
some great names. Patrick Rogers isa guy we don't talk about much,
but he's finished tenth here both yearstwenty two and twenty three, plus one
fifty for a top twenty, andI'll take him in a matchup at minus

(37:43):
one twenty over Davis Thompson, StephenJaeger. He was eighteenth last year,
fifteenth back in twenty twenty two, playing some good golf. He almost won
at the Farmers, fell up,fell down on the board a little bit.
I finished. I believe he finishedthird, and that all happened on
Sunday. He's plus one twenty fivefor a top twenty. Brandon Wu was

(38:05):
a little bit of a long shot, but he finished third last year and
second in twenty twenty two. I'lltake it at t top twenty at plus
two hundred, of course, andplus forty five hundred to win. We
mentioned grill Oh he was fifth here. He's good on pass. Palam plus
two to eighty in a top tenand another long shot, Cam Champ has

(38:27):
four straight missed cuts coming into thistournament, but he was eighth here last
year and sixth in twenty twenty two. He's plus five thousand to win.
We know how far he hits thegolf ball. This might be he's one
of you know, he's got acouple of wins, he knows how to
get it done, and he's notthe greatest of putters, so I think
the slower greens will help him outtoo. Very good. Interesting. How

(38:49):
about the fantasy contest from last week? Yes, sir, finally I got
some money in the green. Mattmin Jon and I Matt's I remember at
nineteen two club a really good player. We had three of the same guys
on our team, including Hitdeki andI'm looking at the squad like, there's
no way I can catch him becauseevery time my guy would make a birdie,

(39:10):
his guy did too. So I'mlike, we just pulled away from
everybody else but finally got some coin. Great call, great call with a
