You just got to get out there and swing and
ding it.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Yeah, you know, just guess it's going to go out
there and try to swing it and ding it all right.
Spring has sprung here in the Delaware Valley Harry Mays
on this week of the Players Championship. Moose Mays and
Matthews of course joining us here.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
For swinging and ding it.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
And we are a sponsored by Comcast Business introducing Ultimate
Speed for business, the bestest Internet plans yet in Comcast
Business Powering Possibilities. We also have another new partnership which
we will talk about in a little bit. We're very
excited about this former guest of ours, great company, and
we'll talk talk about it. It's called Buy My Balls.
Talk a little bit more with his Z. With his

(01:04):
Z of course, Harry, we'll talk a little bit more
about those guys in a moment. But golf dot Com
their headline was Russell Henley steals Arnold Palmer Invitational title
title from Colin Morikawa. I thought that was pretty interesting
because it's like, did he steal it?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I guess he did?

Speaker 5 (01:26):
Or did he earn it?

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Yeah? But I mean go ahead, hair no I about this.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
You might would have you might have thought that Dan
Hicks wrote that headline because it seemed like that when
that ball, you know, rolled into the cup, it took
the storylines away that they were preparing to roll out
over the final two holes with Colin Moore a cow
his third major, it would have been, and you know,
finally he breaks through with all these runner up finishes

(01:52):
over the last year, year and a half, whatever it's been.
And then Henley misses the green from pretty intermediate short
range from the middle of the fairway on sixteen and
I'm me having Henley. I'm like, oh my god, what
a colossal mistake. And then he comes up and chips
it in and I jumped. I literally jumped three feet.
I jumped three times higher than Phil Mickelson did when

(02:16):
he won his first Masters.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I can tell you that, right.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Are you going to create your own logo now?

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Should should? Yes? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:22):
My one and done, uh victory logo, but yeah, unbelievable
chip in. And I really I couldn't imagine what that
felt like for Marikawa as he's watching that ball rolling
across the green because if it doesn't hit the cup,
it goes off the green. Okay, I think we can
all be you know, safe in saying that. And that
must have been a kick to the stomach like you

(02:44):
wouldn't believe, because I think he was even starting to think, here,
all right, Hendley missed the green. You know, I'm gonna
at least make five. You know, who knows what happens here.
He's not going to gain on me. The next thing
you know, he's in the league. And then you're like, wow,
we got seventeen to go, and I know the teaser up,
but it's still a hard green to hold. And then
eighteen is a bear, you know, with the water and everything.

(03:06):
It's a hard course after sixteen to catch up on,
you know, those two holes. You're just sort of holding
on for dear life to make pars. And I couldn't
imagine what that felt like. And we don't know what
it felt like because he blew the media off.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
He don't know you a thing exactly.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Yeah, we got to get into that a little later.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
Yeah, just here so I don't get fined exactly exactly.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
So Henley goes two under, seventy eleven under for the tournament,
one shot win, four.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Million dollars, his fifth win.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah, and you know Collin's up three at the turn, right,
he goes bogie, par birdie and then you know the
par three fourteenth bogie and then you know the rest
is the rest is history, right. It all went down
on sixteen. But Harry, you were also hot when it
came to your betting guard last.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Week all the line.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
And I don't often pat myself on the back on
this show, but I swept the board, you know, with
Henley with the one and done a top ten. Bradley Keegan,
Bradley just continues to play terrific golf, the top twenty,
MacIntyre Top twenty and all three of my matchups hits.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
So yeah, it was.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
It was a really good week in the May's household
when it comes to fantasy sports, betting one.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
And dune pools, you name it, but man, I'll tell.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
You him trailing by three hole or by three with
five holes to play, I'm sitting here thinking, all right,
two point two million.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Wouldn't be bad.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
That's a lot of points for second place, because that's
what you get. And then you talked about it. The
birdie bogey situation on fourteen. The shot Henley hid in
there was unbelievable. He makes the putt. Morikawa must have
had some colossal mishit because he missed the green totally
short right, and then it's a tough up and down,
and of course he makes bogie. And I'm thinking, when

(04:52):
Henley started out the day, bogey's on the two par
fives at four and six, he had nothing. I'm like,
here we go another a day. When my guy comes
into the fourth day and that just has nothing.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
But he made me.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
I don't want to interrupt, but I almost like when
Harry's guys don't perform and we get to describe out.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yes, but the birdie at eight was terrific because that's
a really hard hole. Many makes bogie at ten, and
then birdie at twelve, birdie at fourteen, and I'm like,
all right, maybe we got a shot here.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
And then when he.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Missed the green on sixteen, I'm like, there it goes,
and that's golf. Man a chip in, you know, one
shot like that can just totally change the.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Entire event, and NBC almost missed it.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
How about that?

Speaker 4 (05:34):
Yes, I mean, what are we doing here?

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Seriously?

Speaker 5 (05:38):
Like in the back of that, like you know what,
I mean, that happening.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
But also like they do it a lot where like
you know, this happened moments ago, and sometimes they tell you,
sometimes they don't, but in that moment, like you have
to just just rewind it. Yeah, ten seconds, no one
would different and everybody was fine.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
It was like you know, the sea through or whatever
they call it, playing through with the commercial.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
I hate it.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
You know, I'd rather than just put it on tape
delay by forty five seconds. And you know, so what
if somebody tweets it and you know and clips you
by a few seconds, I don't care.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
I'm watching the broadcast. I'm not watching Twitter.

Speaker 5 (06:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yeah, and you can catch up.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
There's times where you can where you can catch up, yeah, throughout.
But I mean, yeah, a two stroke swing that lately
tournament is pretty wild. But it's weird, Like, you know,
I like Henley, it's just not a guy like I
don't know, he's like not like Brian Harmon. But I
don't know, I like personalities, Like I like, he doesn't.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
He doesn't give you much no, right now, he's a grinder.
He's one of those guys.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
He's really good at pretty much everything, but he has
no personality.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
I thought it was really cool though. The family run
out on the eighteenth Green was pretty good. Oh yeah, yeah,
that was pretty good.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Like I think about like ryder Cup, right, like, yeah,
who are the American players that are going to beat
the top and you know, how are they going to
perform in that and their personalities and like you just
don't see that with a guy with a guy like Henley,
but you know, super talented player.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
I think as a match play player, he'd be really tough.
He's sort of like a Chisener. When Kisner was in
his prime, he was a terrific match play player. And
you're like, yeah, he doesn't do much for you that much,
you know, as far as like his game didn't really
stand out except when he's in a battle.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
He can beat you on a hole, you know.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
Yeah, it's fine if you don't want to talk, just
get the point.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Even Maverick McNeil McNeill, I don't know if we talked
about last week, but his quote was he said, I
don't I don't want to make the Ryder Cup team.
I want to earn points for the Ryder Cup team.
He said, I would be a nightmare for somebody with
my putter in that in that type of format. You
love hearing that, right? Yeah? Someone else is uh, our
buddy Keegan Bradley, who was might just play himself into

(07:46):
a controversy because he wants to play on this team
and he's going to have a decision to make, and
he might be stepping down this captain if he keeps
playing this way, because I have Corey Connor's with third place.
How about Michael Kim.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
He'd be a player captain. There's no way he's stepping
down out of that role.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yeah, and you know who the last player captain was? Palmer?
Oh Palmer? Yes?

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (08:08):
And so he shoots sixty four on Sunday to finish
T five at Arnie's event.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
How cool would that?

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Wow?

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (08:15):
How about Kim?

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Right?

Speaker 5 (08:16):
Yeah? I was just gonna say, you just mentioned him.
So he came out, he said officially official. On x
he tweeted, I'm currently a better golfer than John Rahm,
and he said official in all caps world golf ranking,
Michael Kim fifty nine.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
He's a great follower time, Michael came a great He's
very honest, puts a lot out there. He'd be a
great guest. We'd love to reach out to have him all.
But yeah, Keegan Straka T five, Lowry seven, Jason Day eight,
and then Scheffler T.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Eleven.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
It's kind of like, man, we're you know, I think
I think his hand situation is more than you know,
they're leading on, and I think that's a lot to
come back from.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
And then you know Rory T. Fifteen.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
You think that has to do with the putting because
he's putting horribly again, Scotty is and you mentioned Rory.
Neither Scheffler or McElroy broke seventy at all the.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
During the week. That's pretty incredible.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
I mean, I know the golf course is really hard,
but that's incredibly And Hoveland, Homer, the Gala, Min Wu Pot,
Geeter ok Shay, Maverick, Billy ho Dunlap, Tom Kim, and
Cam Young all missed the cut and it was only
a top fifty or what within ten shots of the lead,
So it wasn't like the Hugual massive cut.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Yeah, all those names missed out. Incredible.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
I'm looking for it now, but I did see it
was either on you know, golf dot com or somewhere,
but they said that the injuries on the PGA Tour
are an all time high with just how these guys are,
how far they're trying to hit it, how fast they're
trying to hit it, everything out, you know. We see
it with Scotty, we see it with everybody. Yeah, lingering

(09:55):
issues crazy.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
All right, man, let's roll in this and tea because
there's some topics I want to get into too. But
I feel like there'll be a lot that we'll cover
that we could branch off of from Oh yeah there,
you know.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
Well. More unfortunate Tiger Woods news and a statement shared
on social media. Tiger announced that he has a reupt
He ruptured his achilles tendon while training, so at forty nine,
he's already battled through multiple surgeries. This is the latest setback,
raisedst questions about his ability to come and you know,
compete in the future. So recovery from an achilles rupture
can take up to a year, which could put his

(10:28):
twenty twenty five season in Jeopardy if we even thought
there was one. So another tough blow for Tiger. We've
seen Bernhard return from a similar injury, but whether Tiger
can do the same, we'll have to see. Are you
guys out on Tiger? Do you think it's time for
him to hang it up? Or is it it's Tiger can?
We can never count him out.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
I think it's going to be some ceremonial outings at
this point. I think it's going to be, Hey, Tiger's
playing in the Masters because he deserves to be there
with no expectations. I just I can't have any spectations
for success at this point with what this guy has
gone through and continues to go through.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Yeah, it's hard to argue with the moose.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
I mean, you know, obviously the Masters he can play
until he decides not to. He can play the Open
Championship until.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
He's sixty five.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Wow, So either one of those, you know, maybe those
two per year. And I'm still holding out hope that
he's going to decide to play in the champions Tour
and he's a golf cart. I mean, you know, who cares,
Like does anybody? Is anybody really going to call him
out or say that, say anything derogatory.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
I mean, you just want to see him on television.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
Champions ratings will go through the room.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Oh, they totally will.

Speaker 5 (11:34):
Get sails everything.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
I'm holding out hope for that. But how much how
much can a body take? Man, he's had more surgeries
than most NFL players.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
Right, And you just feel bad for the guy, right
because even in his statement it was like, hey, I was,
you know, trying to train and get back, and it's like,
you know, I even I believe me, I'm nowhere like that.
But even when I'm like, you know, back in the
gym in my grind boone and all of a sudden,
it's like, oh, all right, I just pulled my hamstring
or did this or that. I can't imagine healing.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
And this guy is famous for the workouts, like doing
Navy seal training, right, Like maybe maybe.

Speaker 5 (12:08):
Man, right, maybe some pilates.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Yeah, I'd like to see a big body tiger out there.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Yeah, he can come over to fit golf with me
on Monday afternoon.

Speaker 5 (12:18):
Yeah, there you go. So yeah, let's hope. Uh, you know,
tie your heels up quick. But you know, just tough
news to hear again. Yeah, so this is funny. Harry
actually shared this in our group text and I didn't
even realize. I was looking back at our text today.
I got a new phone, so my texts were all
off and I go, well, that's something I actually had
to This caught a lot of people's attention, and a

(12:41):
lot of people don't realize this. I've said it so
many times before. Playing on the PGA Tour and it's
def Tours is nothing like the NBA, the NFL, the MLB.
There's no team playing, no hotel stays covered. Every expense
is on the players, including paying for a caddy every week.
So James Nicholas, a Corn Fairy Tour player, recently shared
a breakdown of this expenses and earnings from a tournament

(13:01):
from Argentina last week. If you missed the cut in
this case, you could be out six thousand dollars for
the week. He made the cut, thankfully, and finished T
twenty nine, solid result, but after all expenses and no
taxes taken out, he profited seven hundred dollars. A few
key things to note, because the Internet is the Internet
and people are going crazy in the comments saying like

(13:23):
six hundred and fifty dollars on food, like criticizing him,
but he's like, look, my first time in Buenos Aires, Like,
we wanted to enjoy the experience, So could that six
fifty three point fifty? Sure? But you know, okay, so
then you're making you know, a couple more hundred dollars,
like I said, a few things to know what. He
does have sponsors to help cover those costs, of course,

(13:44):
but his breakdown didn't include those taxes, which a lot
of people don't realize this either. When you're in another
country and you win in another country, you're paying their
tax rates, right, so you could sometimes be taxed up
to thirty percent, So taking that seven hundred dollars and
you know, it's dwindling. And even in different US cities
you pay their tax rate. So wherever you win, you

(14:06):
pay their tax rate, and then you pay your accountant
for you know, filing sixty three different taxes. But it
really just puts us into perspective how tough life on
these tours can be and how important it is to really, like,
you know, I think a lot of the guys who
have success and aren't like fully grinding our decent networking

(14:26):
because they go out and they network and they can
find a way to get a sponsor. So it's almost
like you have two jobs with like playing with businessmen
and business owners and things of that nature, so you
can try to get a sponsor or, you know, get
some funds to make traveling a little bit easier.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Yeah, oh yeah, I mean I immediately wanted to send
that to you, Danielle.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Knew you'd have some good stuff on it.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
But I can't imagine, because I know, the PGA tours
get under some criticism right now for not being a
global enough tour. You know, they they don't fly all
over the place. It's basically, you know, largely in the States,
and you know, I can't imagine. You know, the LPGA
they go all over the globe too, I mean literally
all over the globe. And I don't know that all

(15:11):
those players. I'm sure a lot of them aren't getting
guaranteed money just to show up. Okay, there's a lot
most of that tour they're on their own, and that's
a long way to go to miss a cut, or
that's a long way to go to earn five thousand dollars,
you know, after all expenses or whatever it is.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
So yeah, it's it's it's it's.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Incredible, you know, and then you look at you know,
a guy like Colin Morrikala makes two point two million
and he's so upset that he can't even you know,
talk to the media for five minutes.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Yeah already win.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
I think he's made close to five million already this season.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Which just that's why I love like
these death tours because the grind that a lot of
these guys go through, and you believe, you have a
mix of people on these tours who sure, maybe their
families are a little well off and it doesn't matter.
They're just swiping a credit card and you know, doing
whatever they want. But you also have guys who are
you know, on corn you'll have maybe three or four

(16:06):
guys staying in a hotel together, you know, sleeping on
the couches, doing whatever. So it's when you hear those
stories or you know, even Aksha what was like his
family is pretty well off, but I think there's been
times where like he even like had a rent vans
and do things like that. Like you know, there's other
guys who have slept in vans because it was cheaper
to do a van as a rental car and a

(16:27):
place to sleep rather than a rental car plus a hotel.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
And the caddies too, think about them.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
Yeah, well, at least the caddies are getting guaranteed pay
each week, right, They're getting at least for the most part,
twelve hundred dollars a week, you know, but you take
out So let's say a caddie went to Argentina. I'm
sure they're not doing the James Nicholas and upgrading their
flight to business class because they have to take care
of their body to that level. But still argent Like

(16:54):
a flight to Argentina's at least six hundred bucks. You're
taking half, what you know, right right around half your
pay out the window, and now include your hotel and eating. Yeah,
it's a lot tough, Yeah, hard knock life, it really is,
all right. So this I think, you know, it's always
a topic, a hot topic, if you will, the pace

(17:17):
of play. Justin Thomas was asked about pace of play.
I don't know if you guys saw this, but I
think to his credit we have to say he didn't
dodge the question. He kind of took a moment and
he's straight up admitted I'm on the slow side of players.
It bothers me. I've talked to many officials about it.
I want to know why I'm slow because obviously the
first thing that any slower player thinks about is that

(17:38):
they're not slow. And he continued to say, like he
doesn't want to be that guy, like oh man, like
I got paired with JT, Like you know, he doesn't
want to be that guy, which is obviously understandable. But
I think it's a pretty honest take. Like a lot
of guys I think we have, as we've seen, have
been defensive, but JT seems pretty self aware. But they
have said that they were going to put data in

(18:00):
the locker room and make it public. We've heard a
bunch of stuff like this. I've covered this in the
weeks past. Like do you guys think that public accountability
is the way to go to speed this up?

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Absolutely?

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Yeah. We can may ask a segment on the show
each week where we call out the guys that have
that appeared on the list.

Speaker 5 (18:16):
Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
I like that, I think too, And I think the
more that you have this information and data, the more
you'll see, like you know, there are things that could
happen in around that might slow that person down. Right,
It's that there might not be a slow player, but
there may be a circumstance that slowed down.

Speaker 4 (18:31):
But if you get this.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Week over week over week, you'd be able to see
what the trends are.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
Yeah, well, he shared, JT shared, He's like, when we
were in pairings of two or groups of two, the
average time was about, you know, for a full eighteen
holes was about four hours and like x amount of minutes,
but closer to the four hour mark. And then he said,
you know when you're in groups of four that it
tends to be that five, you know, trending higher hours.

(18:58):
So I don't know what that look like, sending them
off in twos, but I think Moose you have a
good point, like, Okay, you know you're with somebody who
you know, maybe gets a little squirrely off the tee
or is having some issues with his driver and you're
searching for a ball on you know, six out of
eighteen holes, it's gonna slow the group down, you know,
or if you have somebody who's standing over it, like

(19:18):
you know, just nervous to make that swing. Obviously, weekend,
when you're in contention, you're making sure, you're you know,
double checking those numbers. There's so many factors. But I
love Harry's idea. I think we do that absolutely, let's start.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Yeah, I'm all for that.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Moose knows from from days gone by, I'm off I'm
all for that.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
But I mean, I know everybody wants to blame ain point.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
You know, that's always comes up as a as a
as a reason, and it might it might add to it.
I don't know, but when these guys get to the greens,
they get really slow. But my point is before they
get to the green, what I observe, at least just
watching golf on my couch is you'll see two guys,
you know, on the hole and one guy's maybe twenty
yards ahead of the guy that's getting rid way to go,

(20:01):
and the guy that's getting ready to go hits his
shot and then they pan, you know, you can see
the other guy up there with his caddy. Then they
get into their process after the guy has now.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
Just hit his shot, get into the process.

Speaker 5 (20:13):
It's called ready golf.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Yes, well it's not.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Yeah, it's not ready, But I get what you're saying,
like you're ready, like you're ready to at least know
what's the yardage, what's the wind? You can discuss all
that while the other guys over there figuring.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
His stuff out that he should annoys me.

Speaker 5 (20:30):
Yeah, I mean, I think as long as you're respectful
of the other players and you're not you know, anywhere, Yeah,
you know that's distracting them. Like Harry said, you can
be getting your numbers, you can be checking your line,
you can be doing anything, whether you're on the fairway,
whether you're on the green, Like, just be more aware
and be more ready instead of out there just kind
of Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
One guy hits the green and then JT picks up
a couple of blades of grass and throws them in
the air.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
I'm like, come on, man, let's.

Speaker 5 (20:55):
Go oh I love it. I think we need a Harry.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
I need to be on the tour of the board.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
You just driving around in a golf cart.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Put it up, let's go outstanding. I have a go pro.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
On on the Your content be better than Bryson's.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
And here the players like, here he comes, here he.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
Comes here's Harry's. Oh man, all right, Well, this next
one I almost don't want to share because it just
feels like bluff with no real update. But it's in
the Golf News. So here we go. You guys probably
already know. J. Monahan made some big comments about the
ongoing negotiations, basically saying that they're you know, their talks

(21:44):
have ups and downs, but the key thing is that
they have quote mutual respect that they've built. He also
said that they appreciate their's vision and they could see
a future where he's on the PGA Tour board. Oh
and apparently they believe but there's a way to incorporate
some aspects of live into the PGA Tour platform whatever

(22:05):
that means.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
So yeah, and we know obviously Monahan, Tiger and Adam
Scott had a four hour meeting with Donald Trump and
you know, al a couple of weeks ago, and since then,
Monahan is complimentary of Trump and this and that. But like, okay,
and now they have mutual respect for the tours. But
is this a whole lot of nothing? Is there something
bigger brewing?

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Like it's what is it?

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Yeah? Because I watched that media availability. I don't know
if you guys saw it live.

Speaker 5 (22:30):
Yeah, I've seen it a little bit of it.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
He gave that you know, a nice you know that
his opening statement, I guess if you will, And I
thought there was a lot of.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Things there that piqued my interest.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
And then when they turned it over to the golf media,
who was asking specific questions about some of the things
that he addressed, he basically dodged all of it.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Yeah, and said nothing.

Speaker 5 (22:49):
Well. I think when Jay started reading, I was like,
what was he just reading Twilight here? Like he had
the iPad in front of him. I was like, well,
what I mean.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
I think it's going to come to head with these
player contracts, right. Brooks Koepke was had a press conference
and he said he had talked to Fred Couples after
his comment, and he said, I have contract obligations. Then
we'll see what happens.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
Right.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
He also said everyone seems to know what I'm doing
except me.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
He goes all these people. Everyone seems to know my
plans and what I'm doing, but I don't.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
So how's this possible? It was a pretty funny little
I love here.

Speaker 5 (23:19):
I like that, Yeah, you like that honesty of people saying.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
Right, But I mean I think that's going to be
a big factor, right, Like are these guys going to
get paid again?

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Right? Are they what's going to happen.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
Does that work?

Speaker 5 (23:29):
Yeah, what's to look like?

Speaker 1 (23:30):
I think the tipping point is Bryson though it has Yeah,
totally point.

Speaker 5 (23:34):
Yeah, him and Brooks have a lot of cards in
their hands.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Yep, yep, yep.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
Yeah. I'll just share one other little light fun tedbit.
I saw Gronk out at the I didn't see him
on social. They share that Gronk is out at the
Players talking to a lot of players, and I thought
this was one was funny. He goes, wait, he goes that,
that's Shane Lowry. He goes, Shane Lowry looks like Jason
Kelsey and he told that to Shane, and Shane goes

(24:00):
stuff as him for Halloween.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
Here's him with his daughters.

Speaker 5 (24:07):
Heison.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
Of course, Frank would say, Jason, that's pretty good though
that costume.

Speaker 5 (24:15):
Yeah, I think so too. And then his daughter Taylor swept. So,
I mean, we don't love the Chiefs aspect. If he's
an actual Chiefs fan, we prefer, you know, birds fan.
But it's fine.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
His daughter's cute though.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
She's been at the tg L and she's in front
Road here, and you know, every shot is pretty funny.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Yeah, that's cool, great stuff, great stuff. Well, we want
to announce a new partnership with our friends, uh Max
and Mike, who we've had on the show with buy
My Balls and that is balls with his z. You
guys heard us talk about it. High quality recycled golf balls.
You know, there's a little bit of controversy right now

(24:53):
about refurbished and right, that's not what this is. Right,
They're not, like, you know, trying to make stuff that
they're not. And not only am I spoke person, but
I am also a client. Right, it's like the old
hair club. Like I purchased these, I love them. You
cannot see a difference. They're fantastic, right, Harry, I mean.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
Yeah, I mean each ball is carefully clean, sordid and
graded for quality assurance. So like, what kind of great
what kind of balls did you get? In?

Speaker 2 (25:18):
What grade were they moved?

Speaker 3 (25:19):
I think I did the mint. I think I did
like you know, the top the top ones the last time.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Yeah, but you're.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
Gonna save money without sacrificing any performance. And are commercial
by the way, I think it should get an Emmy
for that thing?

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Do they give em?

Speaker 4 (25:34):
How did you hear our commercials yet that Harry and
I did? I didn't all right, well we'll send it
to you.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Yeah, oh my god.

Speaker 4 (25:40):
Hopefully you know, we'll insert it right into the show.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Right here, we'll have we'll have powers and slash so
you guys can hear it, but you'll be hearing it
all over the airwaves.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (25:48):
I can't wait to hear that.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
Yeah, it was a lot of fun doing that.

Speaker 5 (25:51):
It was Did you guys take any video content or
just pure audio?

Speaker 4 (25:54):
No, it's just I was just pure audio.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
And then like when you go there and you check
it out, like, take a look at the subscription plans
they have, because listen, I hate I wind up buying
from Amazon when I before buy my balls and I
looked back at the purchase and I'm like Jesus, like
how often and how much?

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Right?

Speaker 3 (26:12):
But but they can do it, you know, you save
the money. They're they're they're great quality. And they also
thendate a large person portion back for youth golf with
their part of their organization called Balls for Change, So
great organization. We're really excited about partnering up with those guys.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
Yeah, And and it doesn't matter if you have loyalty
to a certain brand too, because they have all the
you can do title as Callaway tailor maids whatever you want.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Yeah, rich Stone, they got the great way too.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
In my opinion, sometimes you're like, you know what, I
kind of I feel like I want to switch up
my ball, Like this is a great way to do
it where you can get a little bit of you know,
a couple of different brands and try them out with
out of them to buy paying overpriced for you know,
a carton of the balls, a dozen balls whatever it is.
So yeah, check it out.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Most of these premium balls now are like fifty five
dollars god yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
Yeah, and just like Amazon, you can get it delivered
right at your doorstep too, so pretty quick shipping.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
Check it out by my Balls Balls with a z
dot Com. Great new partners of ours. We're excited for
for the future with these guys and what they're doing.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
So pretty good stuff.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
Now, will that commercial go national on all I heeart stations, moose?

Speaker 2 (27:20):
I mean, yeah, we be heard worldwide.

Speaker 5 (27:22):
You guys are famous. You and buy my Balls are famous.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
It's going to be.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
It's going to be everywhere.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
So I heard the owners were very impressed with that,
so I was good to hear, you know, I liked it.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
I need this in my inbox.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
Basically, did one take one take?

Speaker 5 (27:36):
You guys are one take kinguse you guys are true professionals.
I mean you don't play. I let Harry, this is
why they don't.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
Yeah, but I screwed up once and and blasted a
F bomb and I know Mike Powers is uh.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
His family enjoyed that one.

Speaker 5 (27:51):
Oh that's great. I remember when I was working with
the Flyers and they had me do this like wah
wah commercial. I'm like, do you hear my rest people?
I'm like, you want me to be like selling sandwiches.
I don't even know what you was.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
You want.

Speaker 5 (28:06):
It's by your hogies.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
Oh yeah, So Harry, you got out there a lot.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
You're You're a wind.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
You don't care. You're like Shane Lowry. You played great
in the wind. Uh, the elements not bother you.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Now.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
You got out there last week and just and just
played some golf.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Yeah. I don't know about playing great, but I made
it a point.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
I realized late last fall, after I did well in
one of these tournaments that I have not been tough enough,
like mentally, physically, you name it, And it was you.
I was using this weather I was thinking we were
going to be able to get out in January and
February a little bit like we.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
Had in years past, but that didn't really happen.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
So the first chance we got in you know, March,
late February and March, I don't care if it's in
the thirties, And I was going out and we're playing
eighteen holes and the wind's blown. The one day it
was thirty seven mile an hour winds and in a
lives the worst conditions I've ever played in Okay, because
I'm typically I'm like, I'll see you guys in the
I'll see you guys at the nineteenth All you know,

(29:07):
I get on the first tea, which at our place
is like the windiest point in Montgomery County, I swear
to God, and it could be a nice day, and
it's it's blowing and it was so freaking cold, and
I'm like, I'm doing this And we went eighteen holes,
me and the rest of our group.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
We all stuck it out.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
My wife was ahead of us by two holes, and
my buddy goes we get done with the sixteenth green
and if you remember at our place, you can see
eighteen right above you and My buddy.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
Goes, do you want to just bail?

Speaker 1 (29:35):
And I go, John, my wife is putting out on
the eighteenth Green right now. You think I'm going to bail,
There's no chance.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
You never live that down.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
Never was like, oh Harry was too cold ring the clubhouse?

Speaker 2 (29:48):
Hey, your wife? Just what do you?

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Yeah, we quit after sixteen sixteen?

Speaker 4 (29:54):
What are we doing right?

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (29:56):
No, but we had a lot of fun and I'm
you know, I'm hoping this so we'll pay dividends because
I don't think there's going to be conditions that will
be any worse.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
Well, Harry, when you start playing in the mid am
tournaments and it starts raining or blowing, you're you're conditioned
for you in your mind, that's affecting it. Your right.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
I had a great attitude and I think that's what
I'm working on to really good attitude. And I think
that's resulting in making more pars So.

Speaker 5 (30:21):
Because Harry is going to be my life coach.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Clear eyes, full heart, can't lose.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Yeah, I love it.

Speaker 5 (30:28):
I love it, Harry.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
I read a book called Getting to Neutral. I highly
recommend it.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
Oh okay, yeah, pretty swinging and book club.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
We're going to start a little.

Speaker 5 (30:37):
Uh, Harry, I have so many books. I'm going to
actually text you. I'll just text you a photo of
my library bookshelf.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Love it. Well?

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Good, we have arrived at the Players. This is when
this is this is when it really starts getting getting interesting.
How about this that I saw Since two thousand and
three on the PGA Tour on seventeen, there have been
one thousand and twenty nine.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Balls in the water.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
Talk about buy my balls, right, I mean they could
just guys, they can just spend time in that water
and just stock up because I mean that that that
hole should be sponsored by by my Balls, to be
honest with you, because you know we all know it.
And Harry, when we get when we talk about the
course of course with our friends at the Penn Club
on second, I mean TPC sawgrass is is it? And

(31:24):
and there's some interesting and I'm sure you're going to
talk about the new the new old tree if you will,
that that was placed in, But talk about the TPC sawgrass.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Yeah. TPC Sawgrass just an iconic, uh, you know joint.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
I've been I've been on the property, I haven't played
the golf course, haven't been there for the tournament. But
I've actually, you know, been in the clubhouse and walked
around near the you know, a couple of the first
tea and so for the what are the property is immaculate, man.
I've been to Augusta National. This looks as clean as.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Augusta Nasow really does. It's just not as old, you
know what I mean. It's it's a newer place. Nineteen
eighty it was.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
It was built Pete and Alice Die, his wife, gets
a lot of credit for this place too. They bought
this land, the PGA did for a dollar in this
swamp land, and I researched it's true, like it's it's
not a myth for a buck, and Pete and Alice
died to convert it into one of the most unbelievable
golf courses on the in the world, par seventy two

(32:19):
seventy three hundred and fifty two yards. They've lengthened it
this year in a couple of spots where I'll tell
you the greens are bermuda grass with poa overseed, and
the fairways are rough rye grass fairways and rough are
rye grass overseed. The average green size fifty five hundred
square feet so on the smallest side for PGA Tours

(32:39):
standards ninety two bunkers, eighteen water hazards, and the water
is in play on seventeen of the eighteen. I think
only the par three to eighth, if I'm correct, is
the only one there where there's no.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Water in play. Wow, the average fairway twenty eight yards wide.
Now there's a new tee on twelve that adds fifteen yards.
They moved it back fifteen yards.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
The iconic tree that Moosese referenced on the sixth tee
that used to hang over it's like a live oak tree,
you know.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
I guess it was getting diseased or something. And Brad
did a great stand up just the other day. That's
the new tree.

Speaker 4 (33:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
I actually took from like in the forest somewhere off
of six.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
And there's this treemover dot com or something company that
comes and moves the whole root system and everything.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Oh yeah, it's unbelievable. I don't know, don't know how
much that could have caught.

Speaker 5 (33:31):
Are you are you hitting that tree here? No, Bohazzler
on the other end of that that I edited in.
He he hit that te shot and it took right
through the trees like just that caught the bottom of it.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
Yeah, so you know that tree has been been put back,
and if they moved the tea back fifteen yards and
if they have the guys go off from the back,
it could wreak some havoc. It definitely, I think would
be in your mind you're seeing that there. Oh my god,
can I get this underneath that thing? But then there's
also a new tea on the par five eleventh that
adds fifteen yards, and the right rough on fourteen fairway

(34:05):
has been toughened up. They've added more moguls and mounds
and a lot of thicker grass. But you know, the
finish sixteen, seventeen and eighteen is as good as it
gets for drama and just beauty. The par five sixteenth
hole with the water coming in about I don't know,
one sixty one seventy short of the green on.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
The right, we'll wreak havoc.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
It's a tough t shot kind of a sort of
coming out of a shoot, and it's a soft dog
leg left. The par three seventeenth, I don't have to
say anything about that.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
You all know it.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
In the eighteenth I think as a bear too.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
Just when you think you got on the green in
seventeen and you got this t shot on eighteen with
the water all up the left, a narrow ribbon of fairway,
and if you put it in the pine straw in
the pine trees, it's not an easy out to make four.
So it's a great finish. And I look forward to
Sunday late afternoon, early evening. Maybe we'll be crowning another

(34:57):
winner on the swing it and ding at one and dunpool.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Let's go, let's go.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
How about some stats from our friend Jeff Ulrich. Fifteen
of sixteen had a T twenty three or better at
TPC Sawgrass previously. You know who number sixteen was Scotty
Scheffler in twenty twenty three. Is Scotty can do what
he wants. He doesn't need to fall into any of
these stats. Of the last eight winners of the last
eight tournament sorry T thirty three or better in the

(35:25):
last art before the players, the last eight winners had
a T twenty three or better in one of the
in the very last start before the players, and in
the last six they had a T five or better
over the last three months. So this is definitely a
I mean, you look at the winners. You got Scotty
two times, Cam Smith, JT. Rory in the past couple winners.
This is top of the DraftKings board, if you will,

(35:47):
when we're talking about cing the line for sure, But
there are some guys that are playing really good golf
right now. This is a bit of a weird season,
right This isn't you know, Scotty dominating. This isn't Xander dominating.
This isn't John Rahm or like.

Speaker 4 (36:00):
This is a little bit of a.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
Different way that we're coming into this player's championship. So
what do you guys think about the way this is
shaken out?

Speaker 1 (36:08):
Well, I saw some other stat on x where fourteen
of the last sixteen winners were in the early late
tea times interesting Thursday and Friday, So you know, that's
that's something that of course, you can't you don't know
what the weather is going to be last sure. I
think they had a lot of rain just early in
this week, so the place is probably pretty soft right now.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
I don't know what the weather's going to look like for.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
The weekend, but you know, if the wind kicks up there,
it's usually pretty windy this time of year.

Speaker 5 (36:35):
Down there, Yeah, Harry, Harry, you noted earlier Tea Times
eight twenty four on Thursday, J T Hedekian Ludwig eight
forty six. You have Wyndham, J Day and Jordan a
later tea Time one twenty nine. Check out this tea
time Rory Scotti and Xander. Yeah, there's some fun pairings.
I don't know if you guys check them out? Yeah,

(36:55):
quite a few.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Yeah, I mean looking at when we see the line here,
it's interesting to me how high up Tommy.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Fleetwood is for a winner. It's like I don't win.

Speaker 4 (37:04):
Yeah, how come that high?

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Right?

Speaker 1 (37:06):
You have?

Speaker 4 (37:06):
You have Scheffler at four hundred.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
It's it's Scheffler Rory every week and this is usually
about what the split is four hundred, one thousand, Colin
Workawa fourteen hundred. I don't know after last week, could
eat could it light a fire or could it be off?
Oberg is always going to be the top of the
board right now. JT obviously said a recent previous winner
here in Xander Fleetwood, Matsiyama, Russell Henley can't lay. I
actually like a little bit further down Stepstrack at four thousand.

(37:30):
You know, he's hanging around. And another guy we talked
about him almost every week is Burger at six thousand.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
That's a really big number.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
And then I'm taking a look at two top tens
Michael Kim at four fifty and Danny McCarthy at five
fifty for top tens, that's pretty decent numbers for these guys,
those guys who were playing.

Speaker 5 (37:48):
I think Danny played great at the Players last year too.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
Huh yeah, I know Berger, Burger plays pretty well at
this at this spot. Yeah, yeah, I'm looking at this
is gonna sound crazy, But another guy, he does pretty
well around here, and I think he might be motivated
by the recent Georgia Bulldog winners Club. You know, Straka Henley.
I forget if we might have even had another one

(38:12):
in there too, Brian Harmon. This is a good place
for a bounce back for Brian Harmon. He plays well here.
He's got that kind of point to point game, keeps
it in a fairway. Plus two to eighty for a
top twenty, I will take it. Corey Conners has been
playing some really good golf, great iron player, keeps it
in front of him. That's what you need to do
around here and make some potts. Plus one ninety in

(38:32):
a top twenty. Aaron Rye always seems to be hanging
around and doesn't make big numbers, and you know, makes
a lot of pars, and plus two hundred for a
top twenty looks pretty good to me. I'm taking HITDECKI
in my one and done pool. I'm trying to put
put pedal to the medal here. As we're now in
fifth by I need another high finish. Lowry Oversung Jay

(38:56):
in a matchup and Grazerman who's been playing really good
golf for a while now over Kiddy Yama at minus
one fifteen.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
Beautiful, beautiful love.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
Yeah, I still haven't put my pick in yet. I
was waiting to do some research today. I'm definitely going
top of the board.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Guy.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
You know, you wind up trying to save guys for
the majors, But you know you still look at guys
like Xander and even Scotty who aren't quite into form
yet that I'm like pushing back to later in the year.
But you know, some of these other guys, you know,
like a Straka, like I said even at JT that
could that could win this thing. That's where we look yeah,
absolutely all right, Grace. We will be back next week

(39:33):
with Martin Chuck, tour striker, golf, great golf coach joining
us next week.

Speaker 4 (39:39):
So excited to get him on here.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
Yeah. He's a great follow on Instagram and I love
talking to to teachers and coaches. You always get a
nugget or two when they're on here that can help
our listeners apply product.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
In the house too. Yeah, maybe we'll have to bust
that out.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
Get all dressed up.

Speaker 2 (39:59):
I'll come with prop.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
All right, We will be back next week. Enjoy the players,
we'll recap it all. Thanks for listening.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
You have it to listen, swing it and ding it.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
