Speaker 2 (00:25):
Just got to get out there and swing and ding it.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, you know, just guess it's kinda go out there
and try to swing it and ding it.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
All right, welcome in to swing it and ding it.
This is Moose along with Mays and Matthews, and we
are sponsored by Bett Parks. More on Bet Parks when
we see the line for the PGA Championship, but big ones,
and also buy my balls. We'll talk a little bit
more about buying my balls a little bit later. But
we are joined none other by none other than Jim
Smith COEO, director of Golf at Philly Cricket Club. And
(00:54):
let's let's just start it with a round of applause,
right let's I mean, let's just let's just golf clap.
I mean, just now, thank you. Some people might be saying, Moose,
you're just fishing for an invite to play cricket and
that's neither here nor there, right, you know, and.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
It goes without saying actually, but Jim, I.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Mean, first of all, congratulations. It just was you know,
glowing reviews from from the media, from the players, which
I think is probably pretty important to you, to the
to the fans that were there, all up and down,
and I think we saw a little bit of everything,
which is awesome for Philly Golf to play in basically
like three and a half seasons in four days. But
(01:35):
just give us an impression of where you are now
after things are done, on just how everything went, according
to you.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
I don't think it could have gone much better, Frankline.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
You know, there's so many people that are involved in
delivering an experience like that tournament. I'm so proud of
the members, I'm so proud of the volunteers, the corporate sponsors,
Truest was fabulous. That tour is awesome to work with.
Yesterday it was actually a little bit of a letdown, Frankly.
You know, the adrenaline was running for a good week,
(02:08):
and uh, you never felt tired just because you were
so excited.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
About what was going on.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
But I think I know that we felt like this
wasn't just about the cricket club. This was about putting
on a great show for Philadelphia itself, for the region,
you know, to show the whole world of you know,
how special golf is in Philadelphia, and you know, based
on the uh, based on the commentary that I've been
reading and seeing, it seems like we might have achieved it.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
I doubt you.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Good, Danielle, Yeah, we.
Speaker 6 (02:43):
Have a guest in the back.
Speaker 7 (02:44):
But so, Jim, did you get to see any of
the social media posts that were up Tony fee now
talking about you know, Philly cricket, Philly golf in general.
Were you able to see any of that? Are you
still kind of catching up with everything?
Speaker 5 (02:57):
I saw it all. In fact, I made it a
point to try to spend a lot of time at
night when I got home online and read up on
what was written. I wanted to make sure that I
was educated and understood what folks were saying. And it's
just it's cool that, you know, people like Tony and
Justin and Rory and you know, people that we idolize
and see as the best players in the world are
saying nice things about the place and nice things about
(03:18):
the city.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
It was it was just awesome. What was your.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Biggest concern like leading up to it? I mean you
had to have one or two things where you're like, man,
I hope this, you know we can pull this off.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
My honestly, my biggest concern was weather. And not in
the way that you think those guys can play through
tough weather. But you all have been to the property
and everybody was coming into the property through the Militia
Hill location and through that tunnel that separates our front
and back lines at Militia Hill, And if we've gotten
really bad weather and that tunnel flooded, which it's known
to do, we would have had a big problem. So
(03:52):
I'd say weather was my biggest concern. Other than that,
I'm telling you, the tour is a machine and the
resources that they bring the bear to run these events
is like nothing you've ever seen. I mean, we've done
We've done events with the PGA of America, with the
Senior Tour, with the USGA, with the NCAA. All of
them are wonderful, but the Tour just takes it to
(04:14):
a totally different level.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
They make it easy for us, frankly tremendous. So tell
me that anything surprise you, any any of the way
that any of the holes were played, any holes that
maybe were more of a challenge or less of a
challenge for the player. Is there anything that really jumped
out of you that was a surprising moment.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
I would say that some of the shorter holes actually
played harder than I thought they would. Now, you know,
you know the golf course fairly well. And one of
the things I was told ahead of the event by
Mark Long. Mark is the guy that does the yardage
books for the tour, so he came out three weeks
ahead of time, and Mark walked the golf course and
one of the things he mentioned to me when he
came in was, typically, these guys are ramming in three
(04:53):
and four footers because pin positions are located in flat
parts of the greens.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
At our place.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
There are no straight three and four footers. Everything is
sloped in some way, shape or form. And that proved
out when you saw a lot of these great players
missing three and four footers because there's a little bit
of break. It's subtle, it's fast, they're nervous, they don't
want to run it by. So, you know, one of
the things that surprised me was his prediction coming true.
(05:20):
I was like, these are the best players in the world, Like,
these guys know how to make putts, and they missed
a lot of putts inside of five feet.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Yeah yeah, I got up in Well.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
I just would to like to know, like, you know,
did you learn anything about yourself and your team throughout
this whole endeavor.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
I'm so blessed to work with such a great team.
I had every confidence in the world that our food
and beverage team led by Ben Berger and Christine Cassano,
and of course you know Dan Mehersman and his grounds
career are the best in the business. So I'm saying honestly,
I didn't I wasn't worried about executing the event because
it was so well planned. There was so much put
(06:05):
into it. I jokingly said, my main job last week
was to be a firefighter.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
It was to put out fires.
Speaker 5 (06:11):
You anticipate that there's going to be problems that pop up,
but there weren't that many, and I think that's a
reflection on the planning that went into this. And again
going back to the tour and their staff, Joey Chitwood,
the executive director, and their operations team are they're the
best in the bus and they threw their best people
at the cricket Club. Given you know, this was an
event that had to be put together and executed in
(06:34):
basically nine months, which is unheard of crazy.
Speaker 7 (06:37):
One of the things we saw out there that somebody
said was new and specific for the truest was the
path patrol. There were so many people there and there
were so many cards because it was so kind of
switched around and condensed. Did you have any part to
do with that path patrol and trying to direct the
traffic there and coordinate that.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Absolutely none.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
Again, they literally they took over the whole volunteer program
and they managed it. And you know, you raise an
interesting point.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
I think.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
You know, another concern I think in a big concern
that the tour had was because of how we're laid out.
Getting people from point A to point B. There's a
couple choke points.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
You know. One of them is through.
Speaker 5 (07:13):
The old railroad wrestle by the creek, and then the
other one is up by our third and tenth holes,
and those are the only two ways to get from
one side of the property to the other. So the
traffic in those two locations was heavy at times and
it was crowded, and they did a great job.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
I'll tell you what. The volunteers.
Speaker 5 (07:31):
I can't say enough good things about the volunteers. They
had seventeen hundred volunteers with a wait list of two
hundred volunteers looking to participate, and they showed up and
they performed in such a great way.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Now, how long before things get back up to normal
where people are? Are they playing the golf course this week?
Because I know you got to, you know, tear down
all the build out and get it out of there.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
What does that all entail?
Speaker 5 (07:55):
We played today, We have full t sheets basically today
through Sunday.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Everybody's excited.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
We're actually we're actually playing the golf course this week
for the members using the tournament routing, and we have
some fun competitions that we're running. But the tour basically
told us their goal is to be out of there
by July first, and that means breaking everything down and
taking it all off property. And then not too early,
but at some point in the next month we'll start
getting the golf course repaired. There'll be a lot of sod,
(08:21):
a lot of work on our grounds crew team.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
But I would I think by early July. We should
be back to normal.
Speaker 7 (08:28):
It's pretty exciting for the members to get to play
the courses set up for a pro event. When we
saw you on site, we kind of talked about that.
You said, the entire t sheet is completely booked.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
It is, and it's funny.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
They were super excited to go out there until they
hit it into the six inch rough today because they
haven't met.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
People were coming in like shaking their wrists like, oh.
Speaker 6 (08:48):
My god, yes, and they don't want to condition anymore.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
That was like three three and a half inches at
the start of the week, right it was.
Speaker 5 (08:55):
We were asked by the tour to have the rough
at three inches last Monday, and then they were going
to put a fresh cut on it on Tuesday, and
I think they looked at the forecast and did an
analysis of the whole place and decided, you know what,
let's just let it go. And that rain on Friday,
oh so, and then the heat that we got Saturday,
it literally just exploded. So the last two days it
(09:17):
was it's the worst I've ever seen in twenty years.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Wow, Jim, talk about that for a second. Walk us
through what's going on. We know what we're doing when
We're looking at forecasts and we're like, are we going
to get there through our broadcast? Like, what's going on
on site for you guys when you're seeing this rain
come in, you know the property. You're sure you're being
asked a million questions by the tour Just walk us
through that couple hours. How stressful that might have been.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
You know.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
The biggest concern obviously is the stop age of play,
So they there were some questions about moving the tea times.
If you remember, the original teach time schedule had the
players going out in threesomes in two waves from like
eleven to one. That's the same as it was on Thursday.
But when the forecast, when they were looking at the
forecast on Thursday night, they decided to move everybody up
to eight o'clock. Now, one could argue that might have
(10:00):
been a tough call because there was a lot of rain.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
Early in the morning.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
But they're thinking, was we want to buy ourselves enough
time so that if there's a stoppage of play, And
the biggest conversations going on behind the scenes were is
the golf course fair and playable. There were a couple
of moments where we had guys on greens happened squeegee,
but it never got Thankfully, the rain never came so
heavy and so fast where it puddled on the greens
and they were able to play through without any stoppages.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
It led.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
It was funny. I talked to the tour folks. They
couldn't remember the last time they could go home at
four o'clock.
Speaker 7 (10:30):
But that's what happened on rut Another reason to add
a favorite location for you guys. Talk about just the
Philly fan base. I mean we had we talked about
it before that. You know, you needed to utilize the
ride share. The parking was going to be tough. Talk
about how the Philly fan base showed up. We saw
it all of our social media, the Go Birds constantly
(10:50):
in the comments, them narrating, you know, watching Rory swing
or other player swings, talk about how they showed up
this week.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
I was so proud of our city.
Speaker 5 (10:59):
I mean, they sold out every day, so you know,
we were capped every day. Every day sold out. You
probably heard the story about the fan shop. They the
budget that they had for the week. They hit on
Friday at two pm and Friday morning they were scrambling
trying to get more merchandise in which they were able
to get in for Saturday, but they couldn't get any
(11:20):
more for Sunday, So for the first time in the
history of the tour, they actually had to close the
fan shop because they ran out of merchandise. You can
imagine the the sales per person of beer and drinks
and food were through the roof, again setting records based
on what Joey had told me.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
But all of that.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
Aside, the support that the fans gave their behavior was awesome.
I think I think we put a dent in the
reputation that Philly has as having loud, obnoxious fans.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
There wasn't anything like that.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
It was respectful, it was supportive and and you know,
the fans put on a great show.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Did you have a winning score in mind that you
might have thought that they would get to and what
was it?
Speaker 4 (12:08):
So, I say a lot of it was did tell
us this in person?
Speaker 3 (12:12):
There's no ball.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
A lot of it was conditioned dependent. I started out
the week ahead of the week. Now, we were really
firm the week before prior to getting any of that rain.
So I thought, if the condition stayed like that, we'd
be between twelve and fifteen I thought, if it got
really soft, we might see twenty plus and boom. We
ended up kind of right in the middle. And I think,
you know, the scores on Thursday. When I saw the
(12:35):
t sheet or excuse me, the pin sheet on Thursday morning,
I immediately told a couple of the staff, I'm like,
somebody's going to shoot sixty one or sixty two out here,
because on probably fifteen of the eighteen holes they were
using really easy pins and they had perfect scoring conditions. Boom,
what happens they go out? You know, Brandon salivates on it.
(12:56):
A day like that, right, Danielle, where it's just perfect conditions,
softer brain, and these guys, they're the best in the world.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
The weather got them a little bit on.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
Friday, and then with the Higgins drains incredibly so when
it got firmer and faster Saturday and Sunday, and I
saw the pins on those two days, they did a
really nice job of blending really difficult with some easy ones.
I thought sixty five was probably gonna be the right
score on both those days. I think Hitdeki shot sixty
three on I think there was one sixty three on Saturday,
and Andrew Novak shot sixty four on Sunday, but those
(13:26):
were the only two scores lower than sixty five those
two days. So I think it ended up right about
where the tour was happy. I think our members were
really happy that the course held up. You know, after
the first day, social media went crazy, Yeah it's gonna
be four to nine under, somebody's gonna shoot thirty five
under it and it didn't happen.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Yeah, but the wind on Saturday helped out too a
little bit. That wind was pretty strong at times.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
Absolutely, And listen, I was lucky enough to talk to
a lot of the players and they'll tell you. I mean,
weather obviously is a big factor in the scores that
they shoot, and green firmness is a big factor in
the in the scores that they shoot. And then pins
and you know, going back to what I said earlier,
they're just there weren't a lot of pins where on
fifteen twenty foot birdie putts they could go aggressively at
(14:10):
because if they left themselves four or five after the
birdie putt, they might not make it. So I think
I think all those things combined turned into the golf
course showing its teeth over the last three days.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
No doubt about it. Well, listen, Jim, we know you're
crazy busy, so I really appreciate you hopping on to
very nice of you to agree to come on a
couple of days after a huge event like that. Nothing
but congratulations and praise from our side. It was awesome.
We felt proud right just knowing the course, knowing you,
knowing some of the members. It just was an awesome
moment for Philadelphia Golf. So congratulations and excited to see
(14:45):
what happens in the future.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Thanks so much, Thanks for having me on.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Absolutely absolutely all right, let's take a quick break and
we'll be right back. All right, Welcome back to Swing
It and Ding. It awesome to talk to Jim Smith,
one of the first of all, one of the nicest,
most down to earth you know, for some one who
runs like you know, an incredible country club like that,
not all or you know, facility when you think of
everything that that that place has, not all those guys
(15:09):
are as open and nice as this gym is. So
I mean, what a tremendous week right when when you
when you look at the truest you know we'll we'll
now break down more of of the golf.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Right, we talked a lot about the course.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
But an interesting couple of days for sure, Right, some
of the guys that pop up on the leaderboard, some
of the guys that were doing well there, obviously Rory
and JT coming up. But in the end it's Sepstraka
by two shots with sixteen under, and you have Lowry
with that bogee on eighteen where he was kind of
struggling and up and down. J T had you thought
he was there, right, I mean, he finishes T too,
(15:46):
but there were so many chances on the back nine
where just kind of like unforced errors too that that
just that haunted him. But Sep gets it done.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Hair Yeah, I'll tell you man, Like you know, he's
so because he had kind of an up and down day.
You know, it wasn't one of those days where you
know he shot bogie free. I mean, you know, he
went eagle on the par five on the fifth hole
on the front, which you know was a must birdie.
He makes eagle there and then he Bogeye's six, which
was kind of an easy hole for these guys all week.
(16:17):
Then he goes back to back birdies at eight and nine,
which were not easy holes. Then back to back Bogei's
at ten and eleven, so it was like up and down,
up and down. Then he makes the birdie on fifteen,
the last par five, and Shane.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Lowry did as well.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
But then Lowry makes bogey on sixteen and you mentioned
on eighteen, and you know that was it, and you
know then you had JT missing a very short putt
for birdie on fifteen. He ends up making par and
that really deflated him. He ends up making bogie on
sixteen because he felt like he had to. He had
to get the t shot up on the level where
(16:52):
the pin the pin was and I think the back left,
I think it was, I don't remember, but he missed it.
He missed the green and had a really difficult like
you know, up and down, ends up making bogie there
and that was basically it for him.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
But Strakas survives.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Man it's his fourth career win, it's his second and
twenty twenty five. He's the only only he and Rory
have multiple wins.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Thus far this season. He won the American Express.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Of course, he won the Honda was his first one
back in twenty twenty two. Then he won John Deere
the next year in twenty twenty three and now too he's.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Top ten in the world.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
Now, yep, you know as a result of this, I
mean he's he's becoming one of those guys that you
have to sort of mention after Rory, Scotti and Xander
As right there in that heap of really quality players
that are capable basically of winning any Week's.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
Gonna be tough in Best Page.
Speaker 6 (17:42):
Yeah, sure, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Euro Ryder Cup baby.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
The only guy in the Ryder Cup of the Southern accent,
which is he.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Grew up in Valdosta, Georgia. I think he's spent more
time there than he ever did in Austria.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
But yeah, I mean you see, uh, the guy I
liked early week, Patrick Can'tley two four along with your
guy Fleetwood.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Was beautiful about Fleetwood making Birdie on eighteen he gets
to get to twelve under.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
You should have seen my reaction.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
Oh my, don't.
Speaker 7 (18:13):
Ask me about my one and done and a withdrawal
from the signature event.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Would you have rose?
Speaker 6 (18:20):
Yeah, like eight of us did. I looked at it.
Speaker 8 (18:22):
Yeah, I was like because I was like, wait, if
he w d's do I get.
Speaker 6 (18:25):
To go with my alternate pick?
Speaker 2 (18:26):
No, he was sick. I think I think he legit.
He look good.
Speaker 8 (18:31):
I don't care. I'm taking a Harry's stand.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
No signature said it's a bad look. Yeah, it's a
bad look. A lot of people in Philadelphia were high
on him for the week because of his career here,
and he let him down totally. Gala went threw as well,
and so did so did Kim? Was it Kim Michael Kim?
Speaker 3 (18:55):
He Withdrew did he?
Speaker 2 (18:56):
They had back issues?
Speaker 7 (18:57):
I think three people withdrawing from signature of that. When
people are dying to try to get into this position,
that's that's tough.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
But I mean, so we're injuries, especially back injury or.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
T eleven's were interesting. You have Corey Connors, Xander schafflee
Berger and Ricky Fowler. It's interesting. Danielle and I or no, No, it.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Wasn't followers T fifteen her he was fifteen.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
The eleven's were yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
We were talking to Joey Chitwood on the way in
and he's like, man, I can't tell you what like
a pro's pro Ricky Faler is he's nowless. He got
in on a sponsor's exemption, right, So I think he
was even more. And he's like first thing he did
to come up to me was like, hey, do you
want where is like the president of truest here do
you want me to go? You know, say, Hi, is
there anybody you need me to go talk to? Like
the first guy and like one of the only guys
(19:41):
that did that, And you could tell, like, that's how
that guy makes a living, right, He's there's nobody better
at sponsorships and relationships and it really stood out, which
was pretty cool to hear from a guy like Ricky.
Speaker 6 (19:52):
Oh yeah, one of the nicest guys ever.
Speaker 7 (19:54):
I remember being in Detroit at one of the events
a couple of years ago and Rocket Mortgage because won
there yep, And I saw one of just.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
The volunteers or whatever. I said, pardon making you direct
me to the range? He's ten feet over. He stops,
he comes over, he goes, hey, here it.
Speaker 7 (20:08):
Is this is where you go like nicest, most approachable,
help anybody guys. So that story is not surprising in
any sense, but like you said, that's why he is
where he is and got that exemption this past weekend.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Yeah, I mean he represented well.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Speith was four under finished T thirty four.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
He was in on a sponsor's exemption along with Woodland.
They were both T. Thirty four.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Keith Mitchell had the great start for great first two
days and kind of fell flat on the weekend, which
is basically his mo most of the time, finished at
minus ten for a T.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Seven. But how about.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Cameron Young made an appearance in the top ten this
week with a T seven.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
That was interesting.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
It was I mean, talk about a guy that just
shows flashes right and then just it seems like he
has all the talent. Definitely seems like between the years
is a little bit of a struggle for Cam Well.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
I mean he grew up in like the metro New
York golf scene, which cricket reminds everybody, you know, the
golf courses up in Westchester County, you know Long Island, Connecticut,
and North New Jersey. Felt they're they're very similar. So
he probably felt very at home on this kind of
a golf course.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. What what's stood out to you guys
with either being on site or watching it on TV?
Of of of Cricket Club.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
It popped so well on television to me with the
aerial views with the drones, the blimps, you know, whatever
they did, you know, wherever they were taking it was
just amazing. Like and I know you know the golf
course better than I do because you played it more
than me. But like just being there and then coming
home on the weekend and seeing it on television the
way they present it, I was like, wow, this is
(21:47):
so cool.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
It's like there's not a lot of fescue there, there's
but the way it frames some of the some of
the holes and the bunkers, like it really does create
that really awesome visual Yeah, really car.
Speaker 7 (22:00):
Funny though, I saw them just randomly setting up all
these flowers, and it's like, why are they putting all
those flowers? Like great by the wist Hecking creek right there,
setting up all these florals. And then I'm sitting here
watching on the weekend and I see just that shot
where they're putting the scoreboard. So they planted flowers right
there just to have like a beautiful visuals for you.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Yeah, but how about the way those guys were playing
what is normally the eighteenth hole moose, Like that's a
hard hole, okay for mortals like us, that's a very
difficult hole. Those guys are hitting some of them were
hitting three wood gap wedge into that hole and.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
It was too. Yeah. On Friday, I went over, I know,
a bunch of the guys, a bunch of us went
over to the michelob Ultra tent where we had some
clients and where where we were was right where that
bunker is, where guys were on eighteen filling that up
on eighteen. So it was so cool to watch that
shot too, because there wasn't much of a lip coming
out of it. So guys were hitting all kinds of
(22:54):
different clubs out of that bunker and it was it
was it was a little wet, so it wasn't the
ball wasn't wasn't seen in It was so cool to
watch that shot from right there and to see what
they did on that hole because it was you know,
I had my phone out the whole times. I couldn't remember.
Now those driving me crazy at the holes. I couldn't. Like,
I wish they just flipped nines and did it like
you know, because I'm like, wait, is that this is that?
Speaker 6 (23:16):
This with the finishing hole, I mean, yeah, it.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Made sense, you had to do it right, yeah, yeah,
well but that I mean the eighteen the normal finishing hole.
The cricket is so good and they just they just
couldn't do it because they can't grand stands there. But
I'll tell you what the members and you know they
took obviously, they utilized that whole patio and uh, what
a great spot to watch those guys come in and
(23:39):
hit that shot, right, It had to be had to
be awesome right on the course that those guys play
every day. To see what some of these guys do.
And like Jim said, I think it was cool to
see them, you know, struggle out there, especially on them
greens Man. It made me feel better when he said
that about this and those short putts.
Speaker 7 (23:55):
I can imagine a member talk just being like this
is where he has to hit it on this hole
or whatever, than just talking about before like probably so
fun walking around with some members listening to them kind
of narrate the pros round.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Yeah, yeah, no doubt about it. Well listen, god hair.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Well, it was really cool. I know you guys talked
about this briefly with Jim. You know, the reaction to
the by the players afterwards on.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
The reflecting on the whole week was amazing.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
I mean, they were just overly complimentary of not only
you know, really just Cricket Club, but really the Philadelphia
area and how much they'd love to come back more.
Speaker 9 (24:32):
And Angelo's Angelos may have gotten as much pub as Yeah,
it was cool the next one, you know, I mean
it was it was cool hearing those guys talk about
that and and just how much I think they love that.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
They kept saying, like they just love playing a course
like that, right, It's not something they see every day.
And for them to be able to pull that off
that quick on that property where they're entrances where you
can't even get a truck in, right, like to see
how Yeah, I mean, kudos to Joey Chitwood and the
entire team for pulling off an incredible event ten months.
(25:11):
It just sucks that it's not back next year, right,
But we had to.
Speaker 8 (25:15):
Figure this out that we have something yearly.
Speaker 7 (25:17):
I mean, well sell out of you know, every single
day sold out, the pro shops sold out, Like come on,
what else do we have to do?
Speaker 1 (25:26):
I've tried to float an idea years ago where three
or four of the clubs in the Philadelphia area sort
of share it and they take one year and then
the next club takes and that way the membership doesn't
have to give up their golf course every season. And
I heard Dan Rappaport on one of his podcasts, I
don't know if it was yesterday or today, broached the
(25:46):
idea very similar idea, but he expanded it New York,
New Jersey, New York and just have like maybe seven
or eight clubs that rotate and that way they just
come back to this great area in general every year
and play one of these traditional old golf courses. And
that's a great idea. Yeah, I think you could pull off.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
I do think.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
I do think Cops Creek is going to be well
that too, that's gonna that's probably gonna be. Yeah. If
there is something especially with Tiger involved with speed, involved
with the fact that it's gonna be a public course,
right communion, Yeah, in the city, I think that's I
think they are positioning themselves to be there, and I'm
wondering if they got some assurances from the tour right
(26:28):
in what they're doing. So but great week, a lot
of fun. I had a blast with you guys being
out there, starting with the Creator Classic, which we you know,
we talked about last week and I know we've We
had such a great spot for Friday set up, and
the weather was not conducive, but it was still a
cool spot being right there on fifteen.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
So I was there with brace getting rained dumped down
my back and then we were like, man, the equipment's
getting wet. We got to bail, so we took a
break and wait till the rain subsided.
Speaker 6 (26:58):
But the setup there was great.
Speaker 7 (27:00):
I mean, it was moved in a little bit, so
we weren't getting torrentially downpoured on. You know, it was
par five, so we got to see so many birdie opportunities.
And you know, Jim even said, like the Philly fans
they were respectful, like when they were putting, they were quiet,
you know what I mean, and then would just kind
of make a roar if there was birdie made or whatever.
Speaker 6 (27:20):
I was impressed.
Speaker 7 (27:20):
I was proud of the fans as well that they
weren't It wasn't like a you know, an Eagles Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Game to start the season. But yeah, and we also
had that green of fifteen. You could look right to
your right and see the shot on sixteen that yeah
par three. Yeah, it's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
And I thought that was cool that that was open
to the public, like to have that grand stand grand
stands like that with seats and nice chairs and placed
it like, that's pretty cool that they just had a car. Yeah,
because you know, they could have sold that thing to
you know, some corporate sponsorship. So yeah, very like you.
Speaker 7 (27:51):
Said, heading over there right after and getting to see
all that.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
I got in there.
Speaker 6 (27:55):
Yeah, same, Yeah, we walked.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
I got it.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
I got a wristband and wrapped it around my wrist
and right by the guy.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Nice it was always worn up.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
Great stuff. Great week. Now let's start planning for the
PGA Championship next year. We have a full year, so yeah,
we got this. Let's fill some tea. Danielle.
Speaker 6 (28:19):
Yeah, let's do. I want to stay on the topic
of Philly golf.
Speaker 7 (28:22):
We lightly shared it a little bit, but let's kind
of just transition it off of the truest so step.
They kind of asked him like, hey, like you just won,
what's going on next. He's not going to Disney World,
He's going to Pine Valley. He won, he went to
Pine Valley. Then he's jumping on a plane and then
he's going to the PGA Championship.
Speaker 6 (28:40):
So what a nice.
Speaker 7 (28:41):
You know, three day stretch, right, that's kind of a
bucket list win truest Pine Valley by.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
Chad mom right hair he played he did oh really yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Oh yeah, And we were on the bus with him
going back. He's on the bus going to the media
parking lot.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Right, he's kind of.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
At Pine Valley. I don't know when the reservation seven
eight o'clock and the bus is waiting to pull out
for what reason we did not know. The bus is
just sitting there and he comes, Chad, Hey, can we
get this bus moving?
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Is this moving anytime soon? You had to get the
Pine Valley.
Speaker 6 (29:17):
Was Let's get it going.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
That's incredible, great.
Speaker 6 (29:21):
That's incredible.
Speaker 7 (29:24):
We, like I said, we talked about it a few times,
but just seeing everybody so responsive of Philly talking about
that we need more courses here, but we I'd be
remiss if I didn't bring this up. We have Jim
Nance narrating him eating a Philly cheese steak from Angelo's.
Speaker 6 (29:39):
Of course.
Speaker 7 (29:40):
Uh did you guys see that? I have no words yep,
which is just shut it down. So that was pretty incredible.
And then let's let's move away from from the Truist
and go into a couple other things.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
I thought this was hilarious.
Speaker 7 (29:55):
I saw this on Squire Golf and it says point
of view if golf was like baseball, right, and as
a guy teeing and there's like three or four guys
in the background like hereswing better, better, better swing, and
like just come on now, come on now, everyone hits,
Everyone hits, like just saying that as the you know,
those guys getting ready to tee off. And the caption
(30:16):
still never understood why the stadium can be screaming and
other team players are talking smack while you're trying to
hit a ninety mile an hour fastball. But you have
to be dead quiet for someone to hit a ball
that's not moving on the ground. And I was like, hmmm,
that makes sense right, Like yeah, but I was like,
all right, well, I guess that's kind of in a
way live golf in descent. But I thought that was
(30:39):
I thought that was kind of funny. It made me
made me laugh a little bit.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Well, you had that guy at our outing on the
first tea doing what do they call that.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
Our friends from Parks the comedian back off challenge off there.
He was actually a ventriloquist. He had a full blow,
really puppet show with him. Oh yeah, yeah, and he
was he was not.
Speaker 6 (31:03):
Kelly James. I think he's one of the rappers.
Speaker 7 (31:05):
He does the golfer cops and he does that, and
he shows up and he kind of you know, he'll
like look at your entire history and career and went
to school, everything else, and he just wraps about you
the entire time.
Speaker 6 (31:17):
It's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
Yeah, it's pretty cool.
Speaker 7 (31:20):
So we us open qualifying locals. I told you guys
to saw Patrick Sheen in the airport. He made it through,
so congrats to him, and then obviously Brandon made it
through as well. So we will see those guys at
final qualifying and then hopefully we will see them at Oakmont.
So congrats to those guys. Pretty cool to see this
(31:41):
guy we got to get on the pod. Super nice guy.
Bryce and Nimmer just one on corn Ferry. So going
from a high being like this is incredible.
Speaker 6 (31:51):
I win. I'm, you know, going up the.
Speaker 7 (31:54):
Points list on the corn Faery twenty five trying to
secure my PGA Tour card and the poor guy has.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
His clubs stolen and bluffed him.
Speaker 7 (32:02):
So he says, if anyone in the area happens to
see Mizuno golf bag with my name on it in
blue and white, or if someone's trying to sell Mizuno irons,
callaway and Missuno driver, three Wood Mini Driver, Moose or
a Scottie Cameron circle tea potter, please give me a call.
So yeah, yep, and I guess uh if you're in
(32:26):
the area, be aware of a number of break ins
in uh in the county. So anybody here listening has
seen a bag that says Bryce and Nimmer on it,
So he's any of those clubs up for sale, give him,
look him up on social and fine him. It's that's
a tough break having that happen.
Speaker 6 (32:44):
What else do we say?
Speaker 1 (32:46):
It?
Speaker 7 (32:47):
Right?
Speaker 6 (32:48):
Not cool? And then let's see you r in here?
What else do we have? I think that's kind of
it for the tea.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
Ryan Fox won in Myrtle Beach. That was you know,
the field event. So it's good to see him. He's
he's been having a lot of trouble since he got
his PGA Tour status, Like last year was not a
good year for him, missed a lot of cuts, so
it was good to see him break through and win.
Speaker 6 (33:10):
Well, that's a good segue last night.
Speaker 7 (33:13):
I was like, you know, let's just throw on the
TV real quick, and naturally, Golf Channels already on and
it broke into Kurra Dixon doing a segment on mental health.
Speaker 6 (33:22):
Did you guys catch us at off? So, yeah, so
we're coming up. I believe we're right around the anniversary.
Speaker 7 (33:30):
Of the passing of graysom Marie pardon me. So she
did a full segment on that. And three days after
Grayson's passing was when Lexi said that she announced her
partial retirement, if you will, in citing mental health for
the issues. The PGA tour hired full time mental health
(33:51):
support that is available at anytime via phone, call, text,
et cetera, and on site at certain events.
Speaker 8 (33:57):
So they're really highlighting that. But they went through and
they had kind.
Speaker 7 (34:02):
Of everybody talking and forgive me, my brain's not operating
right now.
Speaker 8 (34:06):
But Harry, who who did they have on there that
was paired with him and playing?
Speaker 6 (34:11):
I just Noddy, thank yeah, I have the full visual exactly.
Speaker 7 (34:18):
So Peter Malnatty shared on this segment that was on
Golf Channel last night, obviously he was paired with Grayson
and after the round, you know, Grayson kind of hit
it past and you know, then didn't even mark the ball,
put it in and said I'm done. He called for help,
said he needed help, and we all know that story.
So he went on to say, this is not a
(34:39):
locker room like baseball, like football, where you're getting to
tap on the butt. Hey, that's great, great job, like
we're all rooting for you. He said, it's just such
a you know, cutthroat sport and everyone in that locker
room is playing against you. They don't want you to succeed,
and you know, it's just it's such a lonely game
and you're so isolated out there all the time. So
that kind of ties into Harry what you were saying
(35:00):
a little bit and the struggles out there that we
always focus on the great stuff with golf, but it's
kind of an eye opener last night with Kira sharing
that segment and just kind of the struggles these guys
have with mental.
Speaker 6 (35:10):
Health and we're like, hey, just show up.
Speaker 7 (35:11):
And play great golf and entertain us, and it's like, no,
we're away from our family for you know, weeks, months
at a time in a hotel by ourselves and dealing
with the pressure of the media, the world. You know,
imagine having to be on all the time and the
camera in your face and having to say the right things,
and then also your job being on display for the
public to scrutinize and people like us make some jokes about.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
So yeah, yeah, I got to check it. I didn't.
I didn't see the segment. I'll have to go back
and check it. I have I have to watch that,
and I have the Inside Golf saved, Harry. I didn't
get a chance to watch it yet.
Speaker 6 (35:43):
Well, it didn't.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
It didn't air.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Oh it didn't. Okay, I saw the description and more.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
We had the week wrong. It's this week.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
It's this Sunday, ten am on NBC Sports Philadelphia, he
assured me. Today I was over at Lulu doing some
more or episodes for teed off on Inside Golf, and
he assured me that it's this Sunday.
Speaker 7 (36:05):
So we're not gonna lose you, right Hair after this
episode debuts, You're not gonna like leave us and do
better things.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
I might.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
I mean, if I get a better offer, I'm out.
There's no doubt about that. I have no loyalty whatsoever.
Speaker 6 (36:16):
You know.
Speaker 7 (36:17):
What's funny is I had said to powers. I go, wait,
get Harry back here. I forgot to talk to him
about this. I said, this was the event like two
years ago where Harry walked with me and guess what
the weather was?
Speaker 4 (36:29):
Like, Oh, yeah, it was terrible.
Speaker 8 (36:31):
It was raining.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Yeah, that mister Wells Fargo in Maryland when it came
to Maryland because they were having the President's Cup at
Quail Hollow, so they moved it to Maryland.
Speaker 6 (36:40):
Yeah, and that's when we were walking.
Speaker 7 (36:42):
And then I get in the car and we're driving
and Harry texted me. He's like, hey, will you join
this podcast? And I was like me and kind of
like went through it. I was like, I'm not doing this.
Speaker 6 (36:51):
I don't have time.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
Then you got to do it.
Speaker 7 (36:53):
He's like you're one hundred percent doing that, and he's
like I'm like, honey, I don't have time. He's like,
you got this, and I was like, all right, Harry,
I'm at and that I actually had pop up on
Memories the other day June eighth, I think was my
first episode, so.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
That we're coming up coming up on a year two years.
Sorry sorry that was twenty twenty three.
Speaker 7 (37:11):
Yeah, you don't even remember our anniversary.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
Have you have you busted out the new clubs yet?
Have you played?
Speaker 4 (37:18):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (37:18):
I have just in the simulator at the club on
second went yesterday and today I went for an I
snuck in for an hour before I had to go
over to Lulu for Inside Golf, and uh yeah, starting
to like them. It's you know, it's getting used to,
you know, a little regular flex shaft graph fight. You know,
it's interesting. But yeah, I think they're going to be fine.
(37:40):
Playing with them on Thursday at look Away in the exciting.
Speaker 8 (37:43):
That's another great part about golf.
Speaker 7 (37:45):
And you have just something new, you know what I mean,
whether it's news shoes, especially at new clubs and new
you know, and Moos's department, new outfit.
Speaker 8 (37:53):
You know, you're just like, let's go have another reason
to get out there.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
If I don't like them, I'll just buy other ones.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Just the way it is.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
Yeah, I started working on my scripting for cost at
the Campo next week. I was seeing seeing what clothes
you're going to make the trip with me?
Speaker 7 (38:08):
Right, well, I saw you post about that, so that
I mean they're moving dirt there.
Speaker 4 (38:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
Yeah, so Teeth of the Dog is shut down full
full renovation, so we will not get a chance to
play Teeth of the Dog, but we are playing Die
For twice, and the great Robert Bertel has got us
own La Ramana, the private club there, so we're we're
good to go.
Speaker 6 (38:26):
And Die For is one of my favorites.
Speaker 7 (38:28):
I know he was talking about the Rightnolds when we
had him on last, but die For Have we.
Speaker 6 (38:31):
Talked about this last week? Cricket?
Speaker 7 (38:33):
Like, it's just it's beautiful. It makes you feel like
you're You're not in the US. I mean you're not,
but you're somewhere else in the world, do you.
Speaker 6 (38:42):
Know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (38:43):
So you guys are going to be it's his favorite place.
Speaker 3 (38:46):
Yeah, he's the twenty nine times or something. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
He plays in an event down there basically every year
and just loves the place.
Speaker 7 (38:55):
Hey, I played thirty six holes when I was like
eight months pregnant, So that's got to tell you something,
top right.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
But I tell you what we need.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
We need Moose like prior to packing for the trip,
laying out all his outfits sort of like a tour
player does, like where they got you know that the
sponsor sends all the stuff in and then they're.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
Like all right, Well, here's your your eight options. What
are you gonna wear on this day?
Speaker 1 (39:18):
And just sort of lay out in the bed and
let people see it.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Well, look at look at these Look at these chumpies.
I just got give me one second.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Oh okay, we got new merch we got new.
Speaker 6 (39:28):
Items behind the scenes.
Speaker 7 (39:31):
I would love to see Moose to a day in
a life like an influencer, like laying out his entire shoes.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Yeah, the beautiful, beautiful blue water of the Caribbean.
Speaker 6 (39:42):
Oh, they're clean. Do you see the JT.
Speaker 7 (39:47):
Collaud that he did with Nike and how much thought
and process went into that they're clean? What is it?
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Victory victory pro a pro four? Sorry, now, is that
what Scheffler's wearing? I think I think they are either. Yeah,
I think so.
Speaker 6 (40:03):
Hopefully they make me play like Scheffler. Yeah, but jat
I saw that.
Speaker 7 (40:08):
Not justin Thomas I should clarify, but justin Timberlake did
a collab with Nike and wanted to create this golf.
Speaker 8 (40:15):
Shoe and the amount of thought, I mean, I would
have never thought.
Speaker 6 (40:19):
I thought.
Speaker 7 (40:19):
He probably just was like, hey, I'm picking these two
colors and making gradient fade on the Nike sign.
Speaker 8 (40:24):
Probably would have saved the millions of dollars.
Speaker 7 (40:25):
But he went off of Rory and then he went
to a sunset he saw that day and everything else,
and it's all woven into this Nike shoe. So if
you're a sneakerhead and you want a special golf shoe,
check that out. And it's essentially that same shoe that
Moose just held up, a real good looking shoe, but
has kind of just a ingredient Nike sign rather than
that blue.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
Well, there'll be some special gear this week because this
is it. This is the major number two of the year,
the one hundred and seventh PGA Championship. Quail Hollow obviously
the reason for Philly Cricket Club hosting the truest we
just talked about. Aquah seems to pick up a lot
of extra events and have to move stuff around. But uh,
you know, you have you have Xander defending from from Valhalla.
(41:07):
Everybody remembers of the big storyline from the PGA Championship
last year. I'm sure security will be on a heightened
heightened alert, you know. And you have the the twenty
PGA of America Club and Teaching Pros, which is a
really cool element of this tournament, right, US Open has
the awesome you know, the qualifying, This has the the
club and teaching pros that uh that get to get
(41:28):
in there. But Charlotte, North Carolina, there's been some talk
about the course this week. We want to talk about
the course of course presented by Penn Club, and some
of the guys are being a little vocal about not
totally being in love with this course. Interesting coming off
of a right, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
Well as far as.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
The uh, it's been pouring raining like crazy, but standing
water that'll eventually move through and I think they're gonna
they're they're gonna be okay weatherwise. But man, this place
is supposed to be typically is as pristine as Augusta National.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
It really is.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
I mean, it's George Cobb in nineteen sixty one, Fazio
Tom Fozzio came in in twenty sixteen. He came in
three different times, the most recent time was twenty sixteen
to touch this thing up for what became the first
PGA Championship that they held in twenty seventeen, and then
of course they had the President's Cup in twenty twenty,
twenty twenty three, twenty twenty two. I forget when it was,
(42:22):
but par seventy one was twenty two Okay, seven thousand,
six hundred and twenty six yards.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
It's a big boy golf course.
Speaker 1 (42:29):
The average greens they're big, two six, five hundred and
seventy eight square feet.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
They're poa overseed.
Speaker 1 (42:36):
The approaches are the same poa overseed.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
The fairways rye grass.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
Overseed, and the rough is rye grass overseed too. Now,
they started the week at two point seventy five inches
of rough, which isn't all that long, but it's very,
very thick, and with all this rain, and if they
don't cut it trim it back, which they may not
be able to, I think by the weekend that thing
is gonna be a four.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
Inches of rough and that's gonna be a problem.
Speaker 1 (43:03):
Sixty one bunkers on the property, four water hazards, and
their water is in play on seven of the holes.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
Including the closing holes.
Speaker 1 (43:11):
From fourteen through eighteen, you got three par fives seven, ten,
and fifteen, four par threes four, six, thirteen, and seventeen,
and number six can be stretched out to about two
hundred and fifty yards, and there's two short par fours
on the property. One on the front, one on the back.
Fourteen is on the back is where we'll start. That's
(43:31):
the short par four with water all down the left.
Then you get to the par five fifteenth with the
dog leg left with water all down the left side.
Then you turn back around, get a different wind, and
you have a blind t shot on the par four
sixteenth with water down the left hand side, and then
you get the par three over water and then water
(43:52):
on the left hand side in the back of the green.
A lot of water in that hole, in that whole area,
and then you make another turn and come back into
the different wind, and you got the long par four finisher.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
It's like a.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
Downhill t shot, dog leg left up the hill, and
the creek meanders all the way down the left hand side,
including the left hand side of the green. It's got
a multi tiered green and with bunkers to the right,
creek to the left. The green mile is sixteen, seventeen
and eighteen, but they say if you add fifteen's yardage
it actually makes a mile. But I guess the green
(44:26):
mile just sounds better, you know, maybe over.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
The last three holes.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
I don't know, but it's a tough finish it's great drama.
And I just love finishing on a really tough par four,
so like they did at the Cricket Club. Yeah, two
par fours back to back on the.
Speaker 3 (44:40):
Finish create some drama, that's for sure. Definitely creates some drama.
So some of the interesting stats, well, first of all,
when you talk about you know, we'll talk about seeing
the line, but Phil in twenty twenty one was two
fifty to one, right, that was It's usually a chalk
tournament and that definitely was not chalk at kiva. Right.
You have nine of the past twelve winners finished T
(45:03):
fifteen or better in the last start. The only guy
two guys that were out of that were JT who
had a T twenty eight in his previous start, and
Colin Marcoo had a T twenty. So even at that rate,
you're still top of the board. And nine out of
the ten past winners played the week prior. So it's
interesting with Scotty Scheffler sitting out last week to see
if that comes into play. Scotty's been known to break
(45:23):
a record or two, so we'll see how that plays out.
And then you have the you have a couple of
awesome storylines. Right, you have Rory with four wins at
Quail Hollow and and a fifth he was in a
playoff against Ricky, so like he almost won five times
there and then obviously Speith.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
Right.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
Yeah, imagine getting seeing two guys with the Grand Slam
in the same year, a couple of weeks apart. That
would be amazing. So pretty cool, pretty cool, very cool.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
There's fifteen live players in the field this week, and
of course the twenty professional professionals, golf professionals, including from
the area. I mean, I say it's the area because
it's gap, but there's Shawnee in and resort with I
was checking out this morning.
Speaker 2 (46:01):
I may want to go there.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
It's a tilling Hast design twenty seven holes up there
on the island in the Delaware River. Brian Bergstall is
the assistant pro there. He's won the Haverford event here
locally and in this I believe is his second trip
to the PGA Championship.
Speaker 2 (46:18):
Wow. Best of luck to Yeah.
Speaker 3 (46:20):
Yeah, all right, well let's talk about seeing the line
with our friends from Bet Parks Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (46:27):

(47:37):
for bet Parks. You love to play, You play to win.
You bet bet Parks gambling problem call one eight hundred gambler.
Speaker 3 (47:45):
All right, So leaderboard, it's interesting, right you talk about
the live guys. You have Scottie Chalk right for twenty
five I think it is right now on the bet
Parks board, Rory five hundred right there. Then it goes
right to Bryson nine p fifty, Rom eighteen hundred, Xander
twenty two hundred, JT twenty two hundred. Then I think
it's interesting, right. You see like a guy like Spieth
(48:07):
at five thousand, Nieman Joaquin Neieman, who's at the time
like three thousand, which I think he's a little bit
too high for that. Kep Get at forty five hundred,
guys like a Decy at three thousand. I do like
Berger in a top ten at five point fifty. It's
a pretty good number for that. But I'm all over
Bryson for this one. I took him one and done.
I just took straight up in the cash on the
(48:29):
bet Parks app. So I got a really strong feeling
about Bryson this week.
Speaker 1 (48:33):
Yeah, it's interesting you say that, because you know, you
mentioned some of these other guys you know, down the
board a little bit. I don't think This is a
down the board tournament all when it comes to being
able to win it, Okay, you like Berger to top ten, fantastic.
I don't think Berger can win it, but you know
this is this is big boy golf. It's gonna be
Rory Bryson, Scottie chaw Fle or jt or Rom and
(48:55):
nobody's talking about Ram nobody, and nobody knows that better
than him. Okay, he is an angry dude. He likes
to play angry and all. He the chip that he's
going to walk into onto the first he is going
to be the size.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
Of a boulder.
Speaker 1 (49:12):
So I would not be surprised to see him in
the mix at all.
Speaker 4 (49:15):
Here.
Speaker 2 (49:16):
Uh, he's got all these.
Speaker 1 (49:17):
Top tens on live, and you know everybody's you know,
talks about him left and right for obvious reasons. That
would be an interesting one. But I'm taking Bryce and
he's what plus nine point fifty uh to win it.
He's playing with Hoveland and Woodland. I like that grouping
for him. It's not like like Rory's playing with Scheffler
and Chawflet that's gonna be rockstar mayhem all around those guys.
Speaker 3 (49:39):
Everybody's gonna be following those guys for two days.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
Yes, And I just like the temperament of Woodland and
Hoveland for Bryce and something you know looks good there. Hey,
Decky's another guy. Did you see what he was doing
yesterday down there rain a monsoon? You're exactly right, Moosey.
He's got the in gear on his caddie's out there.
Speaker 2 (49:57):
And rain gear holding an umbrella.
Speaker 1 (50:00):
He's on the putting green and they're standing water and
he's putting balls for hours. I told you about him
at a cricket club. He was on the putting green
for three hours. This guy is NonStop work man. He's
just insane. I'm taking him in the top twenty. JT
in the top ten, and you know the top eight guys.
(50:20):
If you're trying to get minus plus money on them
in a top twenty, good luck, they're they're minus money
in top twenties. So that tells you that Vegas, you know,
all the all the casinos think this is. They're pushing
the big guys right to the top. And I think
that's what we're gonna see.
Speaker 3 (50:36):
It's funny too. You had Sep who won with a
fill in caddy last week. You talk about the caddies
Decki's caddies standing out there, do it? Was it Dewey right, Dane,
Dwayne Bacchus, his normal caddy, the gout the Giant Calves
that used to caddy for kids. He had a back injury,
he had a withdrawal. So Drew Mathers, which was a
friend of his, filled in as a caddy. He actually
pulled I think he pulled himself out of a of
(50:57):
an event, Cornferry event maybe, but whatever it was, I mean,
if you do ten percent, he just you know, walked
away with three hundred and sixty grand. So it was
a pretty smart decision on his side. But it was interesting,
right because you had JT had to fill and caddy
in one right, and now, yeah, you know it's it's
interesting when you when you dig into the caddy relationship.
But yeah, har I'm very curious to see to see
(51:19):
what Brooks does, right, I think because there's not many
chances to get Keegan's eye for the Ryder Cup, and
I think Kegan is going to be completely open to
having these guys on the team and as many of
them as he needs to win this thing. And if
Brooks doesn't show up and these majors. He can't put
them on the team.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
Watch out for Patrick Reid.
Speaker 1 (51:40):
Patrick Reed shows out good masters. I'm taking him over
DJ easy.
Speaker 2 (51:44):
I don't think you could put.
Speaker 1 (51:45):
The number high enough. It's minus won sixty five in
a matchup over DJ and Hadecki minus one.
Speaker 3 (51:54):
Two guys just having fun counting his money.
Speaker 2 (51:58):
If we'd all love to be DJ, right, I'm.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
Okay on that.
Speaker 2 (52:04):
Yeah, you're right.
Speaker 3 (52:06):
They're a little too skinny for my liking, you know,
not d not DJs. He's got great legs.
Speaker 6 (52:18):
O god, I was about this. I was about the star.
Speaker 3 (52:24):
But I'm just kidding.
Speaker 1 (52:25):
You're still drunk on Page sparanac from the driving range.
Speaker 3 (52:28):
From let's just let's just say this right now, right
because you know you don't know now. I was confident
because Page has been around all around, long before these
filters and everything. And she she looked, first of all,
she was lovely, looks fantastic. I can't say enough about
Page and how cool she was with everyone there. How
about Dan, y'all the ladies like Page. Please, I have
to pick up my kids from daycare. Can you please
(52:49):
come take a picture with me? She ran over right over.
Speaker 6 (52:53):
She goes, I understand that one, like whatever.
Speaker 7 (52:55):
She was so nice and I'm gonna tell you guys,
that's the hottest my d ms have been.
Speaker 6 (53:00):
In a minute.
Speaker 7 (53:00):
I re shared the interview that I did with her,
and I had everybody, how is she in real person?
Speaker 6 (53:07):
Does she look like she does? Is she nice? But
this she was the most chilled, down to earth girl.
Speaker 7 (53:13):
I mean she she shook my hand, you know, just
really relaxed, kind, really nice person like, oh beautiful, beautiful.
Speaker 3 (53:22):
And she could and she could have she could have
picked any spot on that range to warm up. And
she stayed right where all the people were. Yeah, right,
so like you know, she does not shy away.
Speaker 2 (53:30):
I had to walk away, and she.
Speaker 6 (53:32):
Could she could hit a golf Well, Harry, you have
a restraining I had to go.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
I had to go look at Jordan's speet's legs for
a while.
Speaker 6 (53:39):
Well I did. I was like wait a second.
Speaker 7 (53:40):
I was like, wait, come on, Harot, like, let's get
our team picture with Paige.
Speaker 3 (53:44):
I'm just glad you're allowed back with two hundred and
fifty feet of her. Right, that was awesome that they
lift at that before.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
They really was a nice gesture.
Speaker 6 (53:50):
Now we just got to work on those schools and
branch if you will.
Speaker 1 (53:56):
Oh yeah, I love it.
Speaker 2 (53:58):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (53:59):
Good for you, har good for you. All right, well
we are you guys are on your own. Next week
I'm gonna be in Costa camping now for you. If
we figure out a time, maybe I could patch in
live from dive for or something for for a little
sec from Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6 (54:16):
You got a crew going out or.
Speaker 3 (54:18):
Yeah, yeah we got it's eight eight guys Greeney my
boy Tony, you got a big dom and winer from
from the Legacy Club. You got our guy Nate who's
a member of Green Valley as well. And then two
guys that I've been friends with since fifth grade, DeMarco
and Tommy Eisenhower. Eisenhower is actually a really good player.
He plays in the gad matches for Oh god, it's
(54:42):
the place in summers Point where am I drawing a blank?
Speaker 4 (54:45):
Helped me out?
Speaker 2 (54:46):
Harry, summers Point.
Speaker 3 (54:47):
Yeah, the place where we I played there. I can't
I can't do Great Bay, Great Bay. Jesus, Wow, I
knew Harry would know. I love Great Bay, great course,
great location, close to Charlie's. You can get wings after.
Speaker 8 (55:02):
Yeah, maybe I replicate your guys trip.
Speaker 6 (55:04):
I do a girl's trip. I invite page it's a
whole thing.
Speaker 2 (55:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (55:08):
I think you guys hit it off. Danielle, you had
a nice couple of moments. Get nice seeing you girls
support each other. You know what I'm saying. Absolutely beautiful, beautiful.
Speaker 7 (55:16):
Her agent was super cool too, She's like, can you
keep it to five to eight questions? I go, honey,
I'll keep it two to three, Like, I'll keep it sure,
I respect the time.
Speaker 3 (55:24):
Yeah, great work, great work out of everybody. Thanks to
powers obviously last week who lugged around stuff through the rain.
You know, it's like a one man show getting everything
up and running and getting it go, and so we
appreciate that for sure. It was a blast. That was awesome.
A couple of days for us being out there, so
very very cool. A lot of hard work went into that.
It was all worth it. So onto the next one
(55:47):
and we'll see who takes home the PGA Championship. I
will be reporting live from the Dominican Republic and I
will sacrifice and get there for you guys and do
what I need to do.
Speaker 2 (55:57):
No problem.
Speaker 3 (55:57):
Take one, Someone's got to do it you next week.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
But to listen, swing it and ding it.
