Speaker 2 (00:24):
You just got to get out there and swing and
ding it.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Yeah, you know, just guess it's gonna go out there
and try to swing it and ding it. That's right.
Welcome in to swing it and ding it. Moose Mays
and Matthews. Last time we saw each other was in
person out of the NITA Invitational. But as you can see,
I am wearing the twenty twenty five Long Drive belt
where the Fox sports the Gambler swing it and ding
(00:48):
it open benefiting the Magical Mela Foundation. We're going to
talk about some of the great stuff we have going
on for the tournament. This was the Long Drive gets
this and Robini Bespoke custom them suit. So always a
great prize to get that hat. Yeah, I see, we'll
have to see about that. We're gonna have to get
(01:08):
some of these for the for the outing.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Definitely gonna serious in this look with you moose. The
first time you had this on was a couple of weeks,
a couple of months ago. I guess we have Trevor
Benzil on it, and I'll never forget the look on
his face and my face when I first saw it.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
I'm like, what is happening?
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yeah? Where do you get that? It's a look.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
And then with the headphones turned around you can put
the belt on there.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
That was all time.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
So if you guys are listening audio only, a head
to the YouTube and check out this.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Yeah yeah, yeah, but great stuff, guys, great time in
uh in scratting. That was tremendous. I mean, god, I
love it's it's it's one of the rounds I look
forward to every single year. We always seem to get
the best weather for our round. Came off, but later though,
right a little, you actually got good weather for the
(02:04):
whole tournament, which is awesome. Danielle.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Oh yeah, well, fortunately it was one of actually the
best year is not going wood so far weather wise,
which is really great because you know that we have
deserved finally like a good weather week.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
But all in all, just an awesome tournament.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
Over eight hundred thousand donated, so we're really excited to
hit that million mark next year. I mean, the course
was perfect. You guys played it great condition. Shout out
to Aaron the field, like, what an awesome field. Just
such kind, nice guys, easy to root for any of them.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
We're gonna have to get a few of them on
the podcast.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
It was tough to get them for tonight and I
was traveling, so I already have text out to a
few of them.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
Will get them on in the upcoming weeks. But I've
said it a few times.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
One of the coolest parts of our tournament, obviously, other
than supporting the community and giving back so much money
there is the pro person what it can do for
the game. So Ethan Whitney, recent Temple grad starting his
pro career forty five thousand dollars check for winning that
team portion of the event. His partner Alex made a
twenty foot bertie on the first playoff hole to keep
(03:11):
them in it. So it kind of shows right there
too how important the ms are and you know how
much they mean when it comes down to this.
Speaker 5 (03:17):
But just really cool to see him get a check
like that.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
I think that some of the guys decided to maybe
split the purse so Patty Newcombe, who we had on
as a guest while we were up there, was one
of those guys, and I think he's taking roughly twenty
five thousand plus home, or maybe.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
Those twelve twenty five something like that.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
I got to get those numbers straight because they decided
to split it on their own afterwards. But he came
up to me afterwards, He's like, it's getting me out
of debt, allowing me to go on to all these
next steps.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
He was sharing his upcoming schedule with us.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
So just really cool, you know, players coming up to
us afterwards that didn't really know what to expect going in,
but then just saying, how you know it far exceeded
their expectations in Brandon said, and most you said, it's
hard to get people up there, but once you get
up there, you want to come back every time.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Oh yeah, what hole dore they play in the playoff?
Speaker 2 (04:08):
They go back and play eighteen again.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
We played ten, So the rules of just had that set.
I think we were you were going to play ten
three times and then obviously if it continued, I think
you would move to a different hole after that. But
it was tough watching because I was like okay, four
way playoff. Jared Wolf was also in that playoff, but
watching them, you know, hit all those shots and then
(04:31):
one guy stuck it to like six feet, and another
guy stuck it to like a foot, and then the
next guy stuck it to a foot in half, and.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
I'm like, this is wild.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
The team that ended up winning, they had a twenty
foot put to make it, so it was just which
Alex drained. So just pretty cool on all awesome weekend
and just a lot of money race for the community,
but then also just helping those golfers pursue the grind
and hustle, and Brandon was talking a bunch about it.
You guys know, I talk about it all the time.
(05:00):
So I just love love that portion of the tournament.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yeah. Yeah, tremendous, tremendous. Yeah, I'm glad they were sticking
it close because I don't know if I'd want to
have to put that six footer on those greens.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
It didn't matter what playoff hole was.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, but especially ten is such a crazy hole.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
I mean it's like a downhill.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
I don't see how far those like, what what did
those guys do? You remember what they hit off the
tee were they hitting something other than driver or where
do they how do they play that hole?
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Yeah, I mean obviously the pros and the ams were
playing from uh you know, different tees, Yeah, yeah, and
different strategies too. But actually I think they might have
all played from that back to because it's right there,
kind of right off that.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
Where we were previous years audio area.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
But I'm pretty sure most people, because it is I
don't know how long this is off top I have been,
I'm pretty sure everybody did hit Driver.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
I mean, he was in that playoff.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
He'd probably maybe hit an iron, but everybody else I
think hit Driver. Actually, Aaron said one thing to me before.
He's like, you know, he's like Brandon's a dog. He
knows his corese so well because I think Brandon generally
hits it right because then it's an easier into the
green on ten. And he's like he usually hits it
like in like eighteen faraway and then brings.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
It back over. But he's like he's a dog.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
But yeah, most people just i think hit driver and
then had some type of wedge.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
And I'm still trying to process Moose's drive on thirteen
from when we were playing. He put it to a
inside well inside one hundred yards. What'd you have about
seventy yards sixty yards in?
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Yeah, like sixty eight I think it was. Yeah, that
was a bomb. That was that? That was that? That
that jalapeno cheddar dog. That's right, you know, I mean
I was still I was still chilling when I hit
that thing.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
Ya.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Not only not only was it deep, it was center
of the fair.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
Oh yeah, right right down the middle.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Well, the funny part is, well, you know the halopeno
dog or the transfusion.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Yeah, right, Yeah. The crazy part is so I I
was kind of like switch back, so I didn't have
like a lot of balls in my bag. I had
like I bought one sleeve of prob ones or Danielle
actually bought me one sleeve of prob ones, and I,
you know, used one and one of them got scuffed.
And then I had always used bridge Stone balls, not
always like about like two years ago, if you remember
(07:17):
how I and then for whatever reason, I don't know,
I just kind of like went away from them. And
that drive was my first hit with the bridge Stone ball.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
So now, yeah, to the round.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
He sends me a text, a little receipt of buy
my balls all the bride.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Yeah, I'm like, and I felt really comfortable. I had
a really good back nine and I was you know,
hitting hitting the ball straight. But it's funny, how like
this it all takes one look things.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
All silly off right. He's like, it's it's not it's
not me. It was you know the Cheddar dog and
the bridge Stone balls. You know, Harry, same thing. He's like, Nope,
it's these shafts in my new clubs. It's you know,
and you find something that works and you just like
totally into it.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
But Daniel, somebody confused confused me for a tour player.
So I was good. I won that day.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
I'm like, I knew I had to tell you that
because they were like, wait, like, who's who's in your group?
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Who's playing that practice around with you? Like what tour?
I was like, he's on the big tour. He's attraction.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
I won the special Tour. You just you.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
Just you always look good. You have the fit dial
and just you.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Know, a lot of fun, a lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
But yeah, like you guys said, like most you said
last week, you're like that course brings you back. I
make sure my calendar is clear, just to come back
up there. You guys got up what four am after.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
Yeah, yeah, and went to bed.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Harry, you had what one mose and I similar, I
had about three hours of sleep.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
So yeah after the game, you know, like, yeah, I played.
I played that day that day at Legacy Club too.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
So awesome.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
You guys make the trip up every year, been a
part of it since they get Just really cool to
have you guys along with that journey.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
No doubt.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Teddy too. We got yeah on the back.
Speaker 5 (09:09):
Nine and I think you had a little nervous jumping
on the podcast. Daddy. He is the best. Did you
guys get a chance to meet Karen? She and she
also was up there watching Patrick. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
We saw Patrick. We talked to him for a little while.
He grabbed me when I was walking out. He's like Moose.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
Yeah. I was like, what a nice guy too.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Yeah, giant power forward on a basketball Yeah, I look
at a.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Guy like that on a golf court.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
I feel bad for him because I remember when Brandon first,
like you know, started getting attention. There was every single
article described him as like a linebacker or you know,
power forward or whatever, and I was like, this kid's
gonna get all the same like analogies and everything else.
But I got five seconds to talk to him. His
mom came up as I was like trying to jet
out of there on Sunday.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
It was just crazy.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
You know, there's how many people and you're you're trying
to say everybody and like grown a tournament too, so
it's wild.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
But yeah, yeah, it's a great glad he came up
and said hi to as we were leaving. That was
really cool. But yeah, great stuff. While we talk about playoffs,
you talk about long puffs and none other than Rory McIlroy.
Have you and I were kind of watching this time. Yeah,
it's funny. Think about it. Right, last year he misses
a putt on the seventy second hole, right, the same
(10:25):
thing in a major, right he's not and then here
he is this year where all the all the good
fortune is coming his way. But that twenty eight foot
eagle putt descend it to a playoff was just I mean,
you couldn't have written a script in Ireland, the Irish Open,
Rory coming off of a master's win. I mean, just
absolutely electric to watch that.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Yeah, it was really cool.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
I was dialed in on this, you know, Sunday more
because I didn't play on Sunday, so you.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Know it's on earlier.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
It's what I like about watching, you know, some like
when when in the Open Championship, Oh he's on, it's on.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
You can pop it on your old still.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Laying in bed, and I'm like, oh, man, Rory's like
three shots back and here we go.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
I watched the.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Entire thing and he makes that putt. But he you know,
that chorus finishes with par five, par four, par five,
the previous par five on sixteen, he only made parr
and you're thinking, man, now he's you know, you're kind
of thinking, Rory McIlroy's gonna surely make a birdie at
least on that and then probably birdie the last and
he'll be fine.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Well, he makes parr on sixteen, so he.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Needed the eagle on eighteen, and sure enough he does it.
I mean, he's like driver eight iron or something in
there on that par five and then makes the putt.
The place goes absolutely nuts. And you knew this lagger
Gren guy Joe Kim Lagergrin from Sweden who has won
a couple of tournaments but nothing big, like you know,
he's won on like the Challenge Tour, which is like
(11:45):
their corn ferry version over in Europe. And I think
he might have won one regular event on the on
the European Tour, but it's nothing near like the Irish Open.
And here he is going up against you know, the
home country hero.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
I know he's Northern.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Ireland versus Ireland, but still all the Irish claim him, okay,
and here he's going up against this guy I felt
so bad.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
For Meanwhile, he didn't hit a bad shot, No he didn't.
Even the shot that went in the water was a
good shot with a bad bounce, Like his drive was
in the exact same spot every time. He played that
playoff so well. I felt bad for him because he
got a bad break. But he played it better than
Rory did. He really did.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Yeah, he was in the fairway there on that third time,
and Rory's in the rough, and the rough is you know,
it's pretty deep, and you know Rory can get it
there with like a six iron or whatever the heck
you hit. But you knew he'd have a chance to
hit the green once that guy ball rolls into the water.
All Rory has to do is put her on the
green and you know it's basically over because he needed
to chip in lagger grin just to force another playoff,
(12:44):
and uh, you know, he did his best, but it
didn't happen, and man, it was pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
I'll Harry's going to be ready.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
He's going to be ready for the But.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
I need to know. Were you rooting for Rory?
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Oh yeah, I was, Yeah, absolutely was.
Speaker 5 (12:57):
We're coming around.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
I don't know coming around.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Those broadcasters over there are actually fair about Rory McElroy.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
They don't slobber over him like the Americans.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Do.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
You know you can actually watch it and.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Wait, So let's bring that up though, because have you
guys seen like the T shirt that they say like
it is silhouette and then asked about it, he goes, well,
I think it kind of looks more like Adam Scott,
but I looked at it.
Speaker 5 (13:22):
I'm like, god, it's a silhouette of Golfer.
Speaker 6 (13:25):
I mean, did you think it looked like or well,
it's similar When they say it, that's all you see,
right right?
Speaker 3 (13:30):
They tell me it looks like Rory. I see Rory.
But they got to pull that off the shelves.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
It's like the the NBA logos is Jerry West. They say,
you know from back in the day, and you know,
I watched Jerry.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
West and I'm like, yeah, that's Jerry West.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah interesting yeah yeah. And the
other and the other incredible golf this weekend was getting
to see the Walker Cup. Oh I mean on that
golf course at Cyprus. Yeah, you know, the US team
wins seventeen to nine. They go, they get eight and
a half out of the ten points on Sunday singles,
which I watched most of it on Sunday, and after
(14:06):
just being in Monterey and seeing that marine layer come
in and seeing the fog come in and you don't
know if they're going to keep playing, but like you know,
you could kind of see it. But what an incredible
thing to be able to watch and be able to
see that golf course with now with the technology, with
the drones and with the camera coverage. Oh my god,
it was like, yeah, it was unbelievad I was speaking
out watching.
Speaker 5 (14:27):
It's seeing that talent too, being a part of that.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
Like you just think of the guys in the Ryder
Cup and guys like on top of the PGA tour
list right now, most of them all been er Cup.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
That's all I'm thinking of, is like thinking about what
this guy's going to look like in ten years.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Yeah, yeah, I wasn't even focused on the players.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
I was just looking at the golf course.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
They make that walk from.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
The fourteenth green out that path to those two par
threes right on the.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Water, back to back, back to back threes.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
And then you got the seventeenth it's not a very
long hole, kind of a dog like right with the
cypress grove right in the middle of the fairway, and
those guys were trying they were driving to green. They
were trying to drive the green. It was really really cool, man.
It was Jackson Coyven and Stu Hagistad I think really
powered the team.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
They about my thirties.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, from California.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
So what's his deal?
Speaker 1 (15:19):
He just has always just remained He's a mid am
and he just wants to stay and am.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
He wins a lot of those days. And it was
so crazy seeing that he's playing against some of these
some of the kids on Great Great Britain and Ireland,
like kids kids, you know.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Yeah, Ian Poulter's kid out there for the GB and
my team, But like, I know, this is the way
the Ryder Cup used to be.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
It used to be GB and I Great Britain and Ireland.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
How long before they make the Walker Cup like Europe.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
I'm shocked. Shot me too, me too.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
There has to be so many like Spanish, you know,
Spaniard players and.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
You know.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
At this point, right, it was crazy but yeah, yeah,
the US team just dominated. It was it was wild
but breathtaking art.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
It's just incredible.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
Did you guys get to check out the Saint Lawrence
Golf tournament.
Speaker 5 (16:14):
It's absolutely insane. One of the tea boxes is right.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Next to frat row, so literally everybody comes out. I
mean it almost looks worse than waste management. I swear
one of the players is being touched at one point.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
It looks like it's like.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
At a muni where I don't even know that the
Saint Lawrence Saint Lawrence Golf, I don't even know where
it's located, as anybody.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
I didn't see it.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
Oh yeah, so I got to figure out where the
slu is. But they said like it's one of the
greatest event.
Speaker 5 (16:50):
Yeah, it's got to be.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
But here's like a shot of the tea box with
the kids standing on it and then like when he
hits it, everyone's.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
Just screaming, yelling at it.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
I mean like there's just people all around you, like
it's it's absolutely insane.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
Maybe it's Canton, New York. Maybe in New York and
it's joining campus campuses. Yeah, I think it's in New York,
Saint Lawrence University. Interesting, Now I didn't see that. That
sounds awesome.
Speaker 4 (17:18):
Yeah, I mean I saw it on zire Golf. So
I'll shoot it over to you guys on the on
the swing and doing it d MS here.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
But pretty see are we are we mid ti?
Speaker 4 (17:29):
I mean it could be considered, but it's just I
was like I got to show them this because it's
like it was just insane. It was a tournament that
happened over the weekend and just seeing like I was like.
Speaker 5 (17:40):
This, this is not like this is cool.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
That is really cool.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
Yeah, you guys want to get into some t we
can roll right into it.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
Well this we should have brought up last week, I guess,
But you know, it's a little had a couple of
other things going on.
Speaker 5 (17:53):
But let's talk about Brooks Koepka.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
He missed the cut of the Irish Open chut eighty
the second round at the k Club. He missed four
out of five cuts in every tournament outside of live
events this year. So just wanted to, you know, take
your guys temp on Brooksy right now.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Well, I mean his quote too. I mean he's all
over the place. He's like, I don't know if it's live,
I don't know if it's me right, He's yeah, I
don't know. I think he doesn't show a lot of
emotion or act like he cares a lot. But he
cares about the Ryder Cup.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
He cares so much.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
And I think, especially.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
With Bryson on it, he's probably.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Like, yeah, I think he's really pissed. Yeah, And I
think he's trybably like blaming himself a little bit for
his decisions.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
I'm sure.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
I'm sure his whole narrative throughout the entire time, I
feel like has been questioning if he did the right.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
I mean, you know he didn't care about you know, Bayhill.
How's how's he gonna care about live Chicago?
Speaker 2 (18:46):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Like, yeah, he can't tell me he doesn't care, and
he doesn't seem to strike me as the kind of
guy who loves like the atmosphere of Live right, Like.
Speaker 6 (18:55):
Yeah, I don't think he loves music, and like, you know,
he went to Live to help his brother out and
get a payjack and now he's like really like I
just want to go and compete against everybody else.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
And I think for sure that the Ryder.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
Cup is a little bit of a splinter in his
shoe right now, being yeah, you know.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
Yeah, but I think it. I think it's a miss.
I think that I think they somehow should have figured
out how to have Bryson play in the Procure and
this weekend. And I know, I know it's hard to
navigate that and legally and everything, but you just.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Give him an exemption, like find a way to have
some sort of sponsor exemption.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
Yeah, well yeah, I'll tell you he's going to be.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Out there playing. We know because his wife had a
baby Iraca, same thing.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Yeah, we know why his whole season has been in
the toilet. He started out hurt, and then his wife
was pregnant and now they had a baby, so he's been.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Distracted the entire year. You don't think she's like asking
him for stuff And I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
But there is you know, the flip side of that.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
A lot of people do say once you have a
baby that it does flip everybody's career around, and they
you know, it's not the case every time, but we
have seen some positives out of it. I mean, Ricky
just had his second baby and he what's happening. But yeah,
who knows, who knows, who knows? But yeah, let's get
into a couple more things here. So Corn Faery Tour,
(20:26):
they're heading into their playoffs right So we were talking
to Patty Newcombe. He is on the PJA Americas, but
he is sitting at twenty six right now and he
has to get into twenty five to get in the
get his car to get into corn Faery. But corn
Faery right now. This week the stage is set. Uh.
(20:47):
This upcoming week is a Simon's Bank Open, which is
top one fifty six, and then next week is the
North Wide Championship, which is top one forty four, and
then it goes down to the top one twenty and
then top seventy five. So I'm pretty excited to see
some of the names there. Bryce and Nimmer has been
(21:07):
a friend of ours. We got to get them on
really great kid. His wife's pregnant though, Harry, so I
don't know, maybe he just you know, throws up and plants.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Might as well just forget about it.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
It's over, it's done.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
No, but that that's a couple guys there that we'll
have to bring that back. I remember we did the
segment next on the tee. I'd like to kind of
pull some of these guys up and look at some
names to watch for on the upcoming PGA Tour season.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Matt Patt Newcomb from Murray State is one one spot
out right now?
Speaker 5 (21:39):
Is that right on PGA of America's non Americans? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (21:43):
Yeah, which the America's is the PJA to Latino America
and Canada combined they married and yeah. But some of
the featured groups for tomorrow's first round is Johnny Keefer,
Neil Shipley, Krystal Lambert and then David Sheffield and Blades Brown,
who we've talked about a bunch on the podcast.
Speaker 5 (22:03):
So a couple of names to watch there.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
I'll be keeping tubs on that and let us know
if we have any up and rising stars coming from Corn.
Did you guys hear about Tyrell Hatton and John Ram
the bender that they went on celebrating the Ryder Cup
phone call.
Speaker 5 (22:22):
I did, so you're shaking your head.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
No, I did not see this.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
I mean just with all the golf that, all the
golf news, all the tea that I spilled consuming this,
I mean I could have watched this five times.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
We have to put it up.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
It's a full four to five minutes of Tyroll Hatton
explaining his celebrations, like after he found out he was
on the Ryder Cup, including the throwing up.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
I got sick listening to what they drank. Yeah, I
mean the mixture of stuff like de Serranos, like auction awful.
Speaker 5 (22:53):
It was like it was like high school or college.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
And suggested that apparently Tyrol said that rom you wanted
to drink these.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
I mean that's a nice, pretty big meal.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
And they were to sniff there.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
You know.
Speaker 5 (23:06):
Yeah. No, so that's pretty funny.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
So if you guys have an extra, you know, four
or five minutes that you want to spare, you got
to pull up that interview and listen to it, because
he's talking about like how they celebrate it.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
So the polar opposite that we got from can't lay.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
So yeah, well he started off with six wines at dinner.
He said, Carol wyant hero hat and had six glasses
of wine.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
Just sounded like my birthday here. And I couldn't get
out of bed.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
If they win the Ryder Cup, you might have to
do a bed check on him.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
He may not make it.
Speaker 5 (23:37):
Oh, he's going to be done.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Seriously.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
But talking about Patrick Cantlay, this resurface I think it
was from Yeah, the it's from Patrick Cantlay when he
was asked about why Europe keeps winning the Ryder Cup
before the event in twenty twenty one, and he starts
talking about Gin right, Jim in.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
The cards in the hands and everything else. He's like,
so I've read a few Gin books, I mean talk
about such nerd.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
But like literally, this is what I thought golfers were
when I started watching it, and I was like, oh god,
but it's funny because I actually my niece I brought
her out to kind of watch the practice around. I
think I brought her out brought it or maybe I
brought her out Saturday for a little.
Speaker 5 (24:16):
Bit and she's like, oh my god, they're all wearing vests,
like what dorks.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
I was like, Oh, no, vests are cool. She's like,
Aunt Danielle Vesta are not cool.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
She's like they are not cool, Like these guys are dorks.
And I was like, oh god, okay, she doesn't know
or maybe you know. My opinion's just scwede.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
But yeah, the cantlei Gin thing I thought was pretty funny.
One other thing we can talk about real quick, is there.
I just thought the story was gold. I need to
send this and put it up on our Instagram as well.
But this Cypress caddie secretly lived on the He was homeless,
and he would pitch a makeshift makeshift shelter between the
(24:55):
fifteenth and sixteenth holes at Cypress Point and he secretly
lived out there for eight months. The guy's name is
Ray Sturbick. But pretty crazy story.
Speaker 5 (25:05):
You know. He grew up in Washington.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
He was the third of eight kids and a family
of lawyers everything else, but he ended up being he
followed a local pro to the PGA tour, was living
out of his car and bar, you know, sleeping in
guest rooms, et cetera, et cetera.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
But literally lived out there in Cyprus.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
So did you see the uh did you see the
Cypress rules that were posted?
Speaker 5 (25:25):
Oh yeah, yep, that was my wrap up one. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
So, because you are a guest of a member, we
want you to enjoy a memorable golfing experience. To ensure
a measure of enjoyment, we suggest the following and there

Speaker 5 (26:47):
They are the best.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
Any problem with any of those rules, say not nothing
at all?
Speaker 2 (26:52):
No sounds perfect.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
If they want to have us out, I would abide
by all of the exactly right. We'll put that out
there right now, Cypress, We're good.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Out, We're good.
Speaker 5 (27:01):
I was reviewing that with Brandon.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
I was just kind of like going over and he said,
Callucivenes as like a really good one. It's like guests
of guests are not permitted, Yeah, which I thought was
pretty good too.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Yeah, that's yeah, I mean Naples some of the like,
please arrive at the club between seven and seven fifteen. Yeah,
if you're a guest, you're Yeah, I'm there at five o'clock.
Speaker 5 (27:26):
Yep, serious, waiting in the parking. Yeah, Harry scamping out waiting.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
But yeah, we could keep talking about a bunch of
golf stuff, but I know we have to get in
the Ryder Cup and everything else. So that's a little
bit of what's trending in golf, which is sponsored by
where SPF. Looking for some protection that actually works and
feels great. Where SPF by PGA Pro Justin Thomas has
you covered on and off the course, dermatologist tested and
sweat resistant. It's broad spectrum SPF that will mess up

war SPF dot com. That's where SPF dot com and
stay sun safe all year long.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Absolutely, absolutely right. I want to talk a little bit
about the auting. We'll still do a full breakdown, but
you know our staples are back, right Exfinityfinity Mobile, Levlane advertising,
who's in year in, year out. Uh Tito's Vodka will
be there with the bar Golotti construction. But some fun
ones too. We some some new, some new activities. Obviously
(28:28):
the Kidditts Room will be back for lunch, but Tone
Wood Brewing, which I swear these might be the only
two beers you need. They have Fuego which is an
I p A and Fresh East, which is like a
pale l and our Club. No, it's just you know,
called Foyego. It's just a regular I p a hazy.
These two beers are tremendous and they're gonna be the
(28:49):
official beer of the event. They're going to have a
setup out there, a lot of offers throughout the day
for for everything else. So it's gonna be an absolute blast.
We'll get into some more some of some of the
other stuff we're gonna have going on for this. But
Wood over here in Jersey, Yeah, awesome place, beautiful.
Speaker 5 (29:11):
I talked to Russ too. He's like, I can't wait.
I'm like, Russ, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
We might have to send you to begin the guy.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
Yip Strickler, Yip Strickler.
Speaker 5 (29:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
I mean Russ Mills have like four suits in his
closet by now right in like ten memberships.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
And you know, yeah, he's a maker and a dryer.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
I mean he's got he's done well. He's done very
well in our event, that's for sure. He had no complaints.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
He circled with all the calendar. He adjusted his wedding
around that. He's like, honey, bet we can't get married
that week.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
So and another great thing is to our friends down
at Hammock Beach, which I got to experience and went
down there. They provided us with surprising this year as well.
So yeah, there's going to be some some awesome, awesome
prizing and some some new courses there, right move, yes,
the Ocean and the Conservatory, and then our friends at Rita's.
(30:09):
We might have some Rita's out there because the fall
concretes are back at Rita's. Fan favorite pumpkin Pie returns.
I've had it's awesome alongside their new Apple butter flavor.
Try them today, Ritas. Yeah, so really looking forward to it.
Speaker 5 (30:24):
But we need Rita's down here in South Florida.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Yeah, yeah, you do.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
Franchising opportunities available, that's right, That's right, But we got some.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Needs something else to do.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
Damn. We've got two tournaments this year there. We have
Team USA playing in Napa and we have a Team
Europe playing in outside of London.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Yeah went Club. Yeah, that's a big tournament on the
European Tour. They're in there big run right now where
they have like these nine big tournaments.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
This is the fourth of the nine, I believe.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
But yeah, the pro Cord Championship returns to Napa Silverado Resort,
the North Course, which is a Robert Trent Jones design.
Back in sixty six, Johnny Miller made a lot of
alterations to this. He actually, I believe still owns the place.
In twenty eleven he did some touch ups to it.
Par seventy two not super long, only seventy one thirty
(31:17):
eight four par fives, but they're three on the closing nine,
which is a little different number twelve, fifteen and eighteen
four par threes and two short par fours on the
closing stretch too, So a lot of scoring opportunities on
the closing nine with two short fours and three par fives.
The scores typically around twenty under par minimum to win this,
(31:40):
and with ten of the twelve Ryder Cup team players
in the field, that might push that score even lower.
So the greens are poanna and bent grass. They're not
too big. They're only fifty four hundred square feet, which
is pretty small for PGA Tour standards. The approaches are
Poe and rye grass. Fairways are bermu, po and rise.
(32:01):
A lot of mixtures of grasses out there in northern California,
and the rough is bluegrass and ryan. It's only two
and a half inches, so the rough is not going
to be you know, particularly penal this week fifty three
sand bunkers and water is in play on only two
of the holes, both par threes, number eleven and seventeen.
And the routing, if you've ever been out there and
(32:22):
played it, the way these guys played is totally different.
They go one through five, then they shift to thirteen,
they come back to seven, then go to twelve, six,
fourteen through seventeen, eight through eleven and then finish on eighteen.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
So it's a real jumbled routing.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
But Pat and Gazire will be defending and Max Homa
has two of his wins out at this spot.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
He's in the field. He needs a good week.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Maybe you know, the return to you know, a place
where he really loves will be the ticket. But he
won back in twenty one and twenty two.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
Yeah, he sits at one eleven. He's got to get
into one hundred. And that was the course of course.
Buy Buy my balls t off with top tier golf
balls without the top tier price. Buy my balls dot
com top quality recycled premium brands for a fraction of
the price. Go to buy my balls dot com. That's
balls with his Z. Yes, there's a lot of implications, right,
you got seven fall events to set the top one
(33:16):
hundred and be full exempt for twenty twenty six. And
you know, even guys like Tom Kim, I think is
in the high in the nineties, he has to keep
his spot. So a lot of implications.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
And Matt McNeely in the field this week. Wouldn't it
be wild if he stepped up and won this thing
being snubbed from the Ryder Cup and here he's got
ten of the twelve of the team guys.
Speaker 5 (33:35):
And from that area too, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
Exactly northern California.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
Guy.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
Mm hm.
Speaker 5 (33:41):
He had a nice post though.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
I liked his you know, modest ig posts that he
put up there. He said, you know, burned, but you
know we got work to do.
Speaker 5 (33:49):
It was it was decent.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
Yeah. Yeah, Well, let's let's see the line a little
bit with our friends from Bett Parks.

Speaker 3 (34:55):
So we have two tournaments hare who you said some
of the guys that have had some excess here. This
is a strange one, right because the top of the field,
guys you feel like, are there to work on their
ryder cup, right, Like are they there to try to
win this event? I don't necessarily know. This is a
tough one to me. I think you got to kind
of go with a guy like Maverick, with somebody that's
(35:16):
got something to prove. How are you seeing this.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Well, there's one guy from the Ryder Cup team that
I took because I just think the golf course suits him.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
That's Spawn at plus one ninety in the top ten.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
I think it's his type of golf course. Mcneilly's got
the most motivation though, plus twenty five hundred to win
from Matt McNeilly, Max Homa. I took him in a
matchup over Davis Thompson. He's plus money in the matchup
at plus one ten. And then I took Nico, our boy,
Nico at plus two sixty in a top twenty.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
I actually like Oksha this week at thirty five hundred.
He sits right after the Ryder Cup guys. He's sitting
right there, and I kind of like his number this week. Yeah,
you know, I I do like that. I do like
that Nico play. That's that's an interesting one down there,
a little bit some good value, yeah yeah. And then
(36:08):
how about on the on the other side of the
of the old pond, as they say, Harry, same thing
straight Ryder Cup. Top of the leader board.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Rory and Ram are the co favorites, I believe last
I looked tyrrel.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Hatton, I kind of like I think he needs. He
needs a good week.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Plus one seventy five in a top ten Patrick Reid,
I like in a top twenty. Harry Hall, who some
may think that he kind of got snubbed. I'm not
so much so sure he was a little bit further
down the list, but expect him to play well.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
He's got something to prove.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
It, as does Matt Wallace, who was very close to
being considered. Uh he's minus one twenty in a matchup
over Adam Scott, who's not playing great golf right now.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
Yeah, and Brooks is playing in that event.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
Yeah he is.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
Michael Ko world ranking points.
Speaker 3 (36:59):
I yess yeah. I mean you only have certain opportunities.
I feel like Thomas Detrie always kind of shines when
when it's playing against top competition too. So yeah, but
same thing. Right, It's a it's a warm up week
for both sides to work on some things and try
to We'll see how the pairings come out. To interesting
to see how many of these guys are matched up
with each other. I saw some of them come out today.
(37:19):
I gotta check it out well.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
Yeah, play close attention to that because that might be
a harbinger of what they're thinking about.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
For the actual Ryder Cup.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Yeah, pairing these guys together.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
You mentioned step step Straka is the only guy from
the European team that's not playing and was he have
similar situation to Xander?
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Okay, well that explains his season two. He was really
hot in the beginning of the year and then fizzled out.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
How about it. Yeah, gotta take care of the ladies.
So this is it. Man Legacy Club member guest this
week and starts tomorrow with a late practice round little
quart three competition and start out in Friday morning. Me
and Greeney, we gotta we have to we have to
do something this year.
Speaker 5 (38:04):
We have to do you feel are you ready?
Speaker 3 (38:06):
Well now that I got the bridge stones unstoppable, but
Greene's firing right now. Yes, yeah, So I got to
help my guy out. I got to help steal some
points here and there for us and uh and do
my part. But how about you? How are you having
some You had some golf?
Speaker 1 (38:25):
Yeah? We got the nineteen twelve Cup this weekend Saturday Sunday,
thirty six whole net event.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
I finished T five and it last.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
Year, and I think I'm playing way better right now
than I.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
Was last year.
Speaker 5 (38:38):
I mean, you were playing great at Scranton.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
Yeah, so I'm hoping to keep that going and you know,
really gonna be working on some putting tomorrow and Friday,
because that's really what it's going to come down to
to me, to you know, get in the top ten again.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
That's what I'd like to do.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
Yeah, I love it. All right, I'll keep you guys posted.
I'll share some share some stuff from the two. Make
sure you share some stuff from nineteen twelve or two
so we can post that as well. And yeah, we'll back.
We got a good guest next week, right hair.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
H Yeah, Jim Herman's gonna join us.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
He was in the anp event and he's tried to
get him on this week, couldn't do it. But next
next week we're gonna have him on. Four time PGA
Tour winner.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
Looking forward to all right, good stuff, Thanks for listening.
We'll be back next week.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Listen, swing it and ding it
