Speaker 2 (00:24):
You just got to get out there and swing and
ding it.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Yeah, you know, just guess it's gonna go out there
and try to swing it and ding it.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
All right, welcome in to swing it and ding it.
We are live. We are looking live, Harry Mays.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
One of our favorite places in the game of golf,
the Country Club of Scranton.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
For our annual visit will be NEPA Invitational. You're five.
You're five, believe Daniel Matthews, you're five.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Remember the first year this idea to have a tornament
out here Brandon hometown bringing something back and and what
this has become is just incredible. To to be here
every year and witness of growth is awesome to see.
And to be able to play the course every year
is it's an added bonus. So we're gonna we're gonna
(01:13):
talk about all that. Brandon sitting right here, We're gonna
talk to him. We're gonna talk about about our our
round out there.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
So I was distracted by Harry's notebook.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Yeah, but we have we have a guest with us
who actually just played right behind us, who will be
playing in the event. I believe you, Pat, you said
it's your third year playing in the event. Pat Newcombe,
professional golfer. Welcome to Swing and Dan, thanks.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
For having me. I'm excited to be here. I've been
I've been talking with Danielle a bit about coming on
and uh, you know, my life is a different country
and it seems like every week and in and out
of the United States. So the WiFi is not too good.
So I didn't I didn't know one what a good chance.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
There's a million excuses I saw. He goes, Hey, I've
been meaning to get on. I said, you know what,
We're gonna pull you on. But let's pat his innerduction
a little bit. So Patrick Newcom originally from Kentucky Murray
State University, the Racers right APGA winner, four time PGA
of America wins, and most importantly, three year NIPA Invitational participant. Obviously,
(02:15):
we love you being out here and coming out here.
Great friend of Brandon. We could probably talk about some
of those stories. Probably can, but let's just get into
a couple of things. Moose, I'm probably gonna steal your
thunder here. He always likes to ask about your golf journey.
Try to start us off with that.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Uh yeah, No, I just me and Brandon. We you know,
we became good friends a few years ago because we
kind of come from very similar ish upbringings. Came small course.
You know, it wasn't able to go play you know,
a jgas, wasn't you know, just playing whatever you could
play in just to play and get better, and and
(02:50):
you know, got good and then we just we just
kind of came up together. So I grew up on
a sixty two hundred yard golf course in western Kentucky.
No driving range. I don't think I hate a range ball.
I was like fourteen, like in practice, like, I would
hit some range balls before I played junior tournaments, but
didn't really ever hit one like and go to the
range in practice till I was, you know, thirteen, fourteen
years old.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Wow, it's awesome.
Speaker 6 (03:11):
He's probably one of the straightest hitters. J'lsey.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
Actually Pat was here for our junior clinic on Wednesday,
and he helped Brandon out.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
And you talked about a little tip to the kids
that your your dad gave us. You want to talk
about that?
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah, my dad said. So the course I grew up
on thrill, tree lined and quirky, and if it gets firm,
it's impossible to hit fairways. It's even tougher than this place.
But it's very easy place. But he said, if you
if you can't figure it out, because there's no driving
range right. So he's like, if you can't figure it out,
you're not hitting it very good. Just get it the
ball on the ground as quick as possible. He's like,
so if you get it taken off on somewhat of
(03:44):
a good line, it gets on the ground, it's not
going to get too far away. So that was the thing.
And I have a couple of t shots with the
driver that come out about chest high and don't really
get above you know, forty feet.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Off the ground.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Wow, And that's a go to I've hit a lot
over the years.
Speaker 7 (03:57):
So is your stock shot just straight or can you
work the ball right to left, left to right when
you need to?
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Yeah, I can work it right to left if I
need to. It doesn't ever really ever turn over, to
be honest, when I'm playing my best golf, it's you know,
I'm set up and I kind of pull it down
my shoulder line and it falls back down on my
feet or on the club face. So it's a pool cut.
It's straight from where I'm set up. But it's it's
either straight to a slight pool cut when I'm playing
my best golf.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Gotcha, So talk about you played golf literally all over
the world. Talk about the country Club of Scranton's what's
it like playing this course? Just give us some of
your you know, favorite things about it and just your
overview of the place.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Well, this place is you know, I've heard about this
place since twenty eighteen. I mean Brandon were playing practice
rounds together, so I've been hearing about this for a
long time. And then when he when he last second,
put together the first one, which ended up being in
all amazing how well Danielle did, how it got came
together so fast, and it was amazing. And I got
here and I was like, it's everything you explained. You know,
(04:57):
I've heard about every hole and how much break you
have to play and I have to play off the
bunkers and how you're laying putts up off of bunkers,
which is just a crazy thing to even even for majors,
you know, to even think about that. And this place
is it's so special. I've I've enjoyed every year I come.
I I couldn't go, you know, a couple of years.
It's just it's such a disappointing when the when the
dates come out and I look at my schedule if
(05:18):
if I can go or not, it's it's so disappointing
if I can't. So this is one of my favorite
weeks of the year.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
What's your favorite hole and what's your least favorite?
Speaker 5 (05:26):
You can't say eighteen's got to be your favorite. We
just saw you sticket to a foot. You are right
behind us.
Speaker 6 (05:31):
I mean your pocket's got to be a little fatter.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
There is playing that did help? Yeah, yeah, that back
nine was pretty good today.
Speaker 6 (05:37):
I was like, I saw it like a foot and
I go, oh, he had.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
A great shot, and no, I go, oh, that's body nukes.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Well, so you know, you know, people play at Brandon
and even if you play with him a lot, you know,
it's pretty and it gets intimidating. But I played with him.
I play with him every Tuesday for a year and
a half, so like every practice round, so you know, dinners.
So he would ship it seventy eighty yards past me
all the time, like that wasn't it thang? So he
but he hit it. He literally hit seventy two yards
past me on the last and then I hit. I
(06:05):
hit seven wood to a foot and he hit, you know,
eight iron to twenty he missed. I made.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
So he got you for ego and pat he goes
in and gave him, you know, a word or two.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yeah, but no, prot my favorite hole out there. I
like the holes that I don't play well. Like the
par threes are so good out there. Yeah, they're terrible
numbers for me, like with my bag set up, like
I need to I need to get a club built
for Country Club of Scranton from those back tees.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
But the par threes are just so amazing that to
play ten yards short of a green on a par three,
like the miss to be like eight ten yards short
of the front edge of the crazy, it's like a
great spot to be pitching from. It's better than being
like thirty five feet pen high.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
How about this tenth. That's what I was going to ask.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
How so ten helps me because it's you know, I
hit it very straight, so I hit a peeler off
the bunker down there, and then I have a little
short wedge end. But if you hit in the rough there,
I hit in the rough there, you know, two years ago.
It's just impossible because you're trying to land it in
the spot and if you land it too short and
it hangs up at all, terrible place to be. And
(07:07):
if you land just up and it runs over the ridge.
I hit it over the back of the green the
first year, I landed on the front fringe a wedge
shot and it went over.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
The back of the green.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Yeah, so yeah, ten. Ten's a good hole. Probably my
favorite hole set up wise. I really, I really really
I really like two. Two's a great hole. It sets
up the bunkers handicap too, I think, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I feel like I birdy it about about every other
time I play it. But it's just it sets up good.
If I pull it at the bunker, it hangs up
(07:36):
in the rough. I can't get in the fairway bunker
because I don't hit it far enough. And then if
I hit my little shot shape. It's just in the fairway,
so just like you just get to attack. But yeah,
so two's probably my favorite hole out there.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Just for me.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
This course is awesome. But we all know it's not
easy to get to. Like my fam here drove probably
two and a half hours to get up here. We
flew up from Florida. Why do you make this trip?
Why do you come up here? Why do you make
time in your schedule? Like, not only is there an
opportunity for you to pursue and keep chasing your dreams,
but why do you come up to the course.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Oh, I mean it's just first class event. I mean,
how many times you get to go play a tournament
where you're gonna have a great time. It's never gonna
be a bad time, even and you know there's been
some poor weather years and it's still fun. Like it's
still like you're still having a good time. You know,
everybody the way it's runs first class, you know. And
and for me, you know, me and Brandy were so
close there like just get to I didn't get to
(08:25):
se him, we were just we played twice this week. I
came up early because I was an off week. I
didn't want to go home for like two days. So
I just came in. Getting to play with him twice
was amazing and we were just laughing about it, like, man,
I haven't seen you in like three years, Like, and
I see you. I've seen you three times. I saw
him in Springfield, Illinois at the Cornfery event and then
you know, this week that's the most I've seen him.
And we spent you know, I don't know, we had
(08:46):
dinner three times a week for a year and a
half pretty much. So yeah, that's right, that's right. So yeah,
so it's it's it's just an amazing event. If I
have any chance of making it here, I'm gonna come.
Even if I'm finishing something on a Friday night, I'm
gonna try to get here so I can play Saturday Sunday.
Speaker 7 (09:04):
What's the status like for next season? What's your fall
looking like?
Speaker 5 (09:08):
Like?
Speaker 2 (09:08):
What? What? So?
Speaker 3 (09:09):
My mine's opened there? I actually just signed up for
Q School. I'm DP World Tour and Corn Ferry Tour. Well,
I guess it's PJ Tour Q School now. But I'm
twenty six on the America's Tour Money List right now points.
Speaker 6 (09:22):
List and and stops at twenty five.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Right, Yeah, twenty five gets the second stage. Uh, and
then top ten gets pretty much full status on the
corn Ferry Tour. So you know, I need I need
to win points wise, I need a win or a
solo second in the Tour Championship to move my way
back up or you know, I can't really have two
like solid finishes, It's not going to be enough because
the points are so heavy at the top. So yeah,
(09:45):
I just need that. And then after Tour Championship, if
you know, depending on where I finish, I fly to
Paris right after Vancouver. I'm playing Van, playing Edmonton, Victoria, Vancouver. Uh,
after I leave this week, and then after Vancouver, I
fly to Paris. I play first stage at d and
if I don't get to skip first days, then I
fly right back and I play first stage in New Jersey.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Wow that next week.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
So yeah, and then then it just goes what stages
I get through I fly. I have a week off
after New Jersey, I fly to Spain. If I get
through second stage in Spain, I stay in Spain for
another week. I come back. I go to second stage
of corn Ferry Like it's my whole It's all It's
literally the Fall is like a Q school schedule. So
(10:27):
like if I if I just you know, keep advancing,
I play a full slate off Fall.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
I couldn't wait for you to get on the show
because I knew these guys would love you right away
and just have somebody else to root for.
Speaker 6 (10:37):
I was in tou loom when you won. Patty gets literally.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Black out with the Potter and all of a sudden,
it's like he just has these like blinders on him.
Speaker 6 (10:44):
We're like, okay, he's he's gonna get silly, he's gonna win.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
And then it was blackout on tequila afterwards.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Right, that's your leader tonight man, no comment.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
Yeah, Patty's a bats We we we have a great
time rooting for him on the course and we have
a great time partying with him off the course. But
so God, you got to meet the guys. Thanks for
coming on making some time for us. We're gonna make
you promise right now, after you lock up status, your
first win on corn, your next win, whatever it is
you're going to jump back.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
On, definitely definitely come on the Nuke Show. I love that,
I love that. I love talking about me.
Speaker 6 (11:19):
Why would I talk about you and I could talk.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
About exactly awesome. I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
I really appreciate it. Appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Thank you guys so much.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Thank you very cool.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Yeah, I love I love talking to the guys and
just hearing about like the life, the journey, what you're doing,
what's next, and hearing someone who's living it right now.
Speaker 6 (11:40):
Like listen to a schedule, I'm coming.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Yeah, it's silly, insane, crazy. So let's talk about our
round today, guys. Yeah, that was an absolute blast.
Speaker 6 (11:49):
It was so much fun.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
The weather was perfect, the course was perfect. Had Teddy
join us?
Speaker 4 (11:55):
We oh yeah, back nine Teddy, who just is the
most effortlessly good guy I've.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Ever What a beautiful golf swing he has. Let me
tell you, is he never we're talking about him right now.
We'll know when he's listening later.
Speaker 6 (12:08):
He literally just walked out like I was.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
I was like sitting there. I'm like, you know, I havn't.
I'm riding by myself in the car. I'm like, you
want to come join us?
Speaker 6 (12:14):
He goes, yes, dear.
Speaker 5 (12:16):
I'm on my way. And then you show you, guys,
what hold you on? He goes on beat you at nine?
Speaker 6 (12:19):
And that I saw Moosa's face was like, seriously.
Speaker 7 (12:22):
Wait, he shows up on eight Green and I made Birdie.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
It's like, as soon as.
Speaker 7 (12:27):
Teddy showed up, I drained a thirty foot putt.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Things started happening. Yeah, things are happening. Yeah, he's a
good luck charm Teddy.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
Yeah, Teddy talking about you, he said, who he's a
silly goose.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
Well, yeah, this place is it's it's always so much
fun to play. I mean it's the Greens are insane.
They've been talking about it this week, how they're running.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
And what was the club championship Club championship?
Speaker 7 (12:55):
They were almost fourteen. They were like thirteen point eight
or something like that. We run and I think thirteen
over par won the event.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
Thirteen over par and Alex Pompeii one he got his
brother by one.
Speaker 7 (13:07):
And there's real players here, like they're really good players here.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:10):
But Coulli's Caddy, I guess actually joined here and he's
been it's been the talk of the club lately, and
he's like, everyone said, why would you join here.
Speaker 6 (13:17):
It's so far out of the way, it doesn't make sense.
He's like, have you seen this place?
Speaker 5 (13:21):
And that's like the greatest part of the country of
scrant and it's a hidden jem, you know, you say,
like Oakmont's sister or whatever. But when people get up here,
you'd be surprised how many people like ams that Brandon
will bring up here for this event and they'll just
get the out of town membership, like at least one
or two every single year for the postie.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
I might be looking into that. Actually you have to.
Speaker 5 (13:41):
And it's and then the reciprocals you have in failure.
Oh yeah, hey, y we might be onto something.
Speaker 7 (13:46):
Well, No Moose has played both Oakmont and the country
Club is scrant now, And I'd love to know you
do you agree with the perspective? What are the similarities
and you know, talk about it.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
I think just visually, like you know, I was just
talking to Brandon, like where we are now, looking out,
Like when you're at the clubhouse in Oakmand that's what is.
You see everything in front of you, You see the course,
you have these like ups and downs coming, you know,
coming into at the clubhouse there there are definitely similarities
to the golf court.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Wow, yeah, I mean what have you we have though? Right?
I mean it's terrific.
Speaker 7 (14:17):
I mean this is clearly the most fun I've ever
had here since we played it.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
I think I played it four times.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
Yeah, I mean you were playing decent.
Speaker 7 (14:24):
Yeah, today was fun. Yeah, I'm starting to develop my
old man game. That's really what it is. I mean,
I got the graphed chefts. Teddy witnessed this today. You know,
it's just keep it in front of me, you know,
making some putts.
Speaker 6 (14:38):
Teddy, Teddy, you put the headset on. Come on, you
can be our guest. Come on in. He's got to
pick up his suit.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
We'll have him talk for a couple about what's going on.
Speaker 5 (14:48):
But let's get producer Michael when I when I give
you a wink, just cut Teddy's mic.
Speaker 7 (14:52):
All right, talk about what's going on that he's getting
a suit obviously for event.
Speaker 5 (14:57):
Right, absolutely, so as you guys, No, we're in year
five of the NITA Invitational, but this is our second
year of the Harmony for Hope, so we extended you
know what we had going on.
Speaker 6 (15:08):
Sean Brace was our MC year one.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
You guys hooked us up with that and and he
helped us out here where we had just a tent
right off here, right off the patio of the country.
COVID Scranton, and that's where we started with the first
night of a Friday Night, but we've now elevated it.
We're down at the Scranton Cultural Center and that was
a way to tap into the community outside of golf
right and get people there. We have a dueling pianos event,
(15:30):
We have catering by Cosatino's, really great food, and obviously
a big attraction in Scranton is the open bar. So
we pull everybody in. We have a great time. Everybody
gets dressed up. Teddy's got to pick up his suit
and nothing like a last minute dry cleaning run. Teddy Matthews,
Welcome to the show. Yeah, he's a number number one
fan of the program.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Love it.
Speaker 7 (15:51):
Is it a talks Tonight or a suit I'm just casual, okay,
cock cocktailed?
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Talk about the Country Cups, grand talk about playing this course.
How do you if someone just came in and said,
tell me about the Country.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Cups, caring, how do I play this? He's a member, right,
what do you tell them?
Speaker 8 (16:09):
This course is pretty It's unbelievable for this area. This
course is very unique. It is not your average course.
If you play any other course in the area, this
is not it.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
This course stands alone. Besides anything else.
Speaker 6 (16:26):
What makes it stand alone.
Speaker 8 (16:28):
Just the conditioning of it. The conditioning of the greens
are ridiculous. After all the years, I fairly got used
to it where you're not afraid. I used to put
these greens afraid, and I just got that out of
my mind and just put them just putt Yeah, and
it's just the course is just incredible.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
It's just it's just a special place. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (16:49):
Shout out to Aaron, and what a fabulous job he
is done with this place.
Speaker 8 (16:53):
Aaron is just he's incredible to get the kid and
he hasn't slept, he doesn't sleep, no.
Speaker 6 (16:58):
And he's unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
You guys met up quite a few times over the
past years and we were taught.
Speaker 6 (17:02):
We had some time to talk with him today.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
And it's been tough because entering year five, I mean,
we had a tropical storm last year. Every year, let's
knock on some water or do whatever we can here
to try to keep this rain away.
Speaker 6 (17:13):
But it's not.
Speaker 5 (17:16):
I know, we have some we have like a fifty
six percent chance of rain tomorrow, but we even moved
it up a little bit to start earlier.
Speaker 6 (17:23):
But I mean Aaron and his crew just do such
a phenomenal job. But Moose, would you think of those greens?
Were they running? Were they Was it like an ice
skating rinked or am I just some hockey?
Speaker 5 (17:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Yeah, they were.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
They were pretty quick, there's no doubt about it. But
they were fair. I think the rain helped us a
little bit or it would have been really very But Teddy,
talk about what it means to you for to see
your son come back and do something like this at home.
Speaker 8 (17:47):
What's that mean to you? This is something that's been
the years. We talked about this years ago, which is
incredible to see it come to fruition now. But I see,
you know, and I never said if I said when
you make it, don't forget home, and he never did.
And this is what's come out of it, which I am.
(18:10):
You can't believe. I'm proud of him and what he's
done in the area and the people he's brought up.
It's just incredible. What's what's what's going on with this?
This is this is really special. This is a dream
come true. Love it great stuff. Thanks for joining, Teddy, Oh.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
I appreciate it. Thank you for having me on.
Speaker 5 (18:26):
Thanks Thanks for being a loyal listener, supporting the podcast.
Always one of our number one him and he supports
our sponsors.
Speaker 6 (18:35):
Yeah, talk about your buy my balls?
Speaker 2 (18:37):
What did you get? Oh? Yea the stars?
Speaker 7 (18:42):
Right, Yeah, he's not a Q star guys.
Speaker 6 (18:45):
He he called me, he goes, he goes, Yeah, he goes,
buy my balls. Arriving today. I go, I'm not a
boy teddy, and he goes, Will you think I'm not
going to support you? He goes, I listened to pot
I got my buy my balls. He goes and buy
my balls. He's like, what are great deal?
Speaker 5 (19:00):
He's like these He's like they're in mint condition, They're beautiful.
He's like, they arrive at my door just perfect.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Don't hit him to lose them. He hits it straight.
He always can find his ball.
Speaker 7 (19:10):
But a Ryder Cup prediction out of you, because I
don't know if we'll talk to you until then coming
up in a few weeks.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
I like, I like Usa.
Speaker 8 (19:19):
I mean, it's gonna be you gotta be American. Okay,
it's gonna be awesome though, to watch that. Yeah, pretty close, right,
it's gonna be close. It's gonna be close. It's gonna
be close. It's gonna be awesome. I can't wait for
the New York people to see what.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
You're gonna do.
Speaker 6 (19:31):
Yeah, appreciate your time to.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Thank you, thanks for having Thank you so much.
Speaker 8 (19:36):
I love playing with you guys today.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
And you talked about this field.
Speaker 7 (19:41):
I mean, uh, I was. I was getting these stats.
And there's over three thousand starts in the field in
PGA Tour and LPGA Tour sanctioned events, three thousand. There's
over fifty professional wins in this in this uh sheet,
(20:01):
seven PGA Tour wins and appearances in every men's major.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Oh yeah, wow in the field.
Speaker 7 (20:08):
And also, let's not forget we talked about Ryder Cup.
Ben Griffin was the twenty twenty one champ the first
year is now on the American Ryder Cup team.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
And shout out to Ben Griffin. I mean, first of all,
let's just a little nostalgia. We'll go back to year one.
He actually played him and his partner and they won,
and it was incredible watching them come up eighteen And
there's actually a scholarship dedicated in his partner's brother's name,
so to see them win was just incredible. And then
(20:38):
Drew had reached out to Ben just you know, inviting
him back each year.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
Last year he donated, and this year.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
Being in the Ryder Cup, he said, you know what, guys,
let me give back.
Speaker 6 (20:48):
Let me offer up some Ryder Cup tickets.
Speaker 5 (20:51):
So in our live auction tonight out the Harmony for
Hope Gala, we have four tickets for several different nights
or several different days. Part of me Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
and I believe Sunday.
Speaker 6 (21:03):
So an opportunity for.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
Somebody to walk home home with some of those tickets
and get out there and him and watch Ben and
Team USA out of beth Page.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
YEP, tremendous.
Speaker 7 (21:12):
One of the what four Ryder Cup of rookies on
the American team, only one on the European team, that's
Rasmus Hoyguard, which they just announced the team on Monday.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
Yeah, what do you think about that? Exactly what you thought.
It's exactly what I thought.
Speaker 7 (21:26):
I basically just said, you know, it's gonna you gotta
include John Rahm and Matt Fitzpatrick, who played really good
golf over the second half of the season. Right up
until the very end, I knew he wasn't gonna get
left off because of his experience. He's a US Open
champion and he went to Northwestern, which is where Luke
Donald went. He was not going to leave his Northwestern
(21:47):
Wildcat by the side of the road.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Even though Harry Hall made a great run at the end.
Speaker 7 (21:53):
You know, this year had a terrific year and puts
it lights out and there was some you know, there's
some other guys that were that were right on the
cuss there. I just knew Matt Fitzpatrick was going to
get the nod and he did so, I can't wait.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
This is going to be just spectacular. But how about
some of these names in the field.
Speaker 7 (22:09):
I was just perusing the t sheet for today in
the practice round and I ran into this guy, Jim Herman,
four time PGA Tour winner, ran into him at the
hot Dog Hut over by the thirteenth te Brad adamonis
who we've talked about on this podcast recently. Teddy Trieba,
he's from the area, has two PGA Tour wins. Our
(22:29):
buddy Patrick Shehan is in the field. Brayden Shaddock who's
been on the show. Patrick's been on the show. Brian Bergstall,
who is a stalwart in these professional pro am events,
and great Pennsylvania golfer Dawson Andrews played at Temple. Evan Brown,
who we know, I ran into him down at the
PGA show down in back in January.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
A good area player Ethan Whitney. It's just a terrific field.
Speaker 6 (22:56):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
And then we also have Evan Thornton talking of you know,
we always got to mention our Temple team, so which
is great, but it's awesome to see, you know, this
talent because part of it that I feel like someone
gets left out and that Brandon loves one of the
missions that we have.
Speaker 6 (23:12):
So obviously we give back to the community.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
We expanded our outreach this year by adding five or
part of me four additional beneficiaries. But we also give
a junior golf scholarship for somebody who's trying to play
and just needs, you know, trying to play college golf
and needs a little bit extra money to get through that.
Speaker 6 (23:26):
And then obviously the pro purse.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
So we we just heard Patty Newcomb's story, you know,
grinding out in the PGA. Have of America's everything else,
Ben Griffin, Ryder Cup if it's been all over the
internets right what four years ago at this time he
was selling insurance.
Speaker 6 (23:40):
And mortgages, stages, mortgages, right, and now he's a writer.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Yeah yeah, yeah, and he's in the Ryder Cup.
Speaker 6 (23:49):
But to see that him.
Speaker 5 (23:50):
Being here and competing and winning and taking home a
decent sized purse allowing him to continue to pursue his
dreams like that is so cool to see these names
that Harry was just listing off have an opportunity to
come here, compete for that money, maybe hopefully win that
and then.
Speaker 6 (24:06):
Pursue, you know, another year plus of grinding.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
And don't forget are our great sponsor bet Parks anything
Ryder Cup check them out.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
That The line pretty much is his stated the same.
I think Europe still plus one fifty.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Yeah, there was no real movement even even when uh,
when all the teams were officially announced. Strange, you thought
you'd see a little bit of movement. Yeah, so keep
an eye on that. Support our sponsors, bet Parks. We
talked about buy my Balls. You guys heard Teddy. He's
not only a hair club member, he's also a client,
you know, commercial, So we we appreciate it. But I've
hung out with them buy my Balls guys yesterday. Oh yeah,
(24:40):
Max and his brother Zach talk about their players, right,
they should be playing in this event.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Oh really, I mean.
Speaker 7 (24:46):
Their players sticks yeah, sticks, yeah, yeah, yeah, so cool.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
I don't know how Teddy loses a ball though, with
the way he hits it. Yeah, the guy does.
Speaker 7 (24:52):
I mean everything, everything's dead straight, dead straight, right down
in the middle. I think now I know where Brandon
got the game from from Teddy.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Not say that that's just that's just so insulting.
Speaker 9 (25:05):
You watched him plague off today and you're saying that
he was great and.
Speaker 6 (25:11):
Defends So I text him.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
I was like, hey, if you want to join us,
like Buzzy Blather is an extra seat. So he rolls
up on nine Harry Birdies and Harry's like, okay, he's
my good luck charm.
Speaker 6 (25:19):
He's not leaving.
Speaker 5 (25:20):
And then your dad gets on the tee and just
stretched him right down in the middle without even like
turning his torso and warming up.
Speaker 9 (25:27):
We're like, he hasn't warmed up in sixty five years
by starting now, right, I mean.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
It's it's it's unbelievable. Yeah, the guy.
Speaker 9 (25:35):
The guy's been limber his whole life. I mean it's crazy,
It really is crazy. I mean the guy doesn't stretch,
he doesn't take care of himself. You know, he's just,
you know, a classic, you know, blue collar, you know,
small town Pennsylvania guy. And honestly, up until five years ago,
(25:56):
you should have seen this guy.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
How flexible he us.
Speaker 9 (26:00):
I mean he used to put his palms on the
floor in front of his feet stretching. I'm like, how
can you do I can't put on my socks.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
You know he can do that. I'm like, it's hard,
it's crazy.
Speaker 6 (26:14):
Drinking.
Speaker 9 (26:15):
Yeah, his his fourth one fourth one of the day,
I think by this point.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
But he blamed it on you. Yeah, he blamed it
on you.
Speaker 9 (26:22):
I had right with my daughter in law for nine holes.
Speaker 7 (26:28):
Well, she got us transfusions on the fifty where we
crossed the road after the par five and we get
up to the tea and the other groups still in
the green square waiting. I turn around, I go where
is Danielle?
Speaker 2 (26:40):
She was gone?
Speaker 7 (26:40):
And next thing you know, she comes ripping around the
corner across the road with drinks and I'm like, it's quick?
Speaker 6 (26:46):
Are you throw?
Speaker 2 (26:48):
It was the Great House. That's a compliment Brandon Year
five Invitational. What's I feel like? Man?
Speaker 4 (26:56):
This is it's crazy to see, you know, we just
talked to Patrick, you know, to see the people that
that make this a priority for to be here. We
know how crazy schedules are. We know this is an
easiest place in the world to get to, but for
to be able to go into year five and see
what you guys are doing and growing.
Speaker 9 (27:13):
How's that feel? Yeah, it's pretty crazy. This year I
definitely kind of wasn't as stressed. My agent and great
friend Drew has done great guests that yeah, yeah, he's
such a great guy, but he has done so much
for this event this year. Eric Shrive is what you know,
(27:36):
he's an absolute champion with fundraising and uh taking care
of the dinner. But that allowed Danielle and I to
kind of take a little step back this year. So,
you know, I felt like I was coming into the event,
but it didn't like hit me until today when I
started seeing the guys show up and you know, seeing
people and it's like, oh wow, it's here again already.
(27:57):
But it didn't really hit me until, you know, maybe
the last couple day. But it is crazy to realize
that we're sneaking up on a million dollars given to
the area. So it again, it's strange because five years
ago when I was planning this in a seven week
stretch and going crazy over it to raise yeah, to
(28:18):
raise fifty grand you know, I thought that was great,
and you know, now here we are getting close to
a million in five years and hopefully we'll be able
to surpass that next year. But I'm just incredibly thankful
for this club, for the people around here, for you
guys coming up, you know, for everyone involved. I can't
(28:40):
imagine ever having a better support system, better people around meah,
especially my wife obviously and daughter now, which is crazy,
but it's it's truly humbling to see how many people
are willing to come up and support this US. And
you know, I I like to attribute it to the
(29:01):
golf course. I meant it's hard, and you know, it's
it's funny. We got I think seven or eight national
members in the first three years running the event.
Speaker 6 (29:12):
Well, you touched on it, and I wanted to.
Speaker 5 (29:14):
Obviously there's such a big cause with supporting the community
that you grew up in giving back adding additional beneficiaries
this year. But one of the things that we were
discussing before you jumped on is that the mission's kind
of threefold, right, so we give back to the community
where you grew up in and then there's a junior
golf scholarship, but also the opportunity for these guys. We
(29:34):
were talking about Ben Griffin, who's about to you know,
be a rookie in the Ryder Cup next week, which
is insane. Talk about that platform these guys and how
important that is for you and these guys come out
here and have that opportunity.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
It's funny how.
Speaker 9 (29:49):
Many people don't realize that everything is on the individual
when you play golf, right, whether you're on the PGA
Tour or whether you're chasing tours, right, and how expensive
it is and at certain levels. You know corn Ferry,
you know, they they've done a really good job with
(30:10):
trying to make sure the markets that they're in, right,
it's not really in big cities for the most part.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
You know, it's a little bit more affordable some of
the hotels.
Speaker 9 (30:19):
But you know, you get on the PGA Tour and
obviously you have the opportunity to make a ton of money,
which is which is amazing. That's where you want to be.
But you know, you're in the prime season in big cities.
You know, it's it's going to be expensive to stay there, right,
and if you're on the PGA tour, you.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Got to you know, foot your own bill.
Speaker 9 (30:37):
It's not like you know, playing on an MLB team
NFL team where you.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
Get on the jet and go.
Speaker 9 (30:43):
Now, it's like, all right, I'm still going to fly
coach to this event because you know, I'm not going
to buy the seventeen dollars first class ticket there. And
for us to be able to provide some of these
guys an opportunity to continue their careers, to fund their
careers a little bit more. There's not a ton of
(31:06):
these kind of events around and obviously everybody's playing most
of the summer whatever tour it is.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
But to be able to have.
Speaker 9 (31:17):
A purse that's upwards of one hundred and thirty to
one hundred and fifty thousand dollars, right, and be able
to yeah, and you know, some of the stories that
have come out of the first few years have been amazing.
You know, Dawson Armstrong when he won, gave an incredible
speech afterwards about you know this, this helps me more
than you guys can imagine, because this is the largest
(31:40):
check I've ever earned at that point as a professional,
and he's playing on the corn Fairy to it right, right.
Speaker 6 (31:46):
Which is wild? Yeah, if you listen back to what
he just said.
Speaker 9 (31:49):
Yeah, and you know, Mike Miller a couple of years
ago struggled a little bit on corn Ferry, didn't have
a great year, lost his card, had to kind of
you know, went through a couple switches with his game,
went through a tough time with his short game, and
got it back, won this event individually and the team part,
(32:10):
and it funded his whole next year.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
And now he's unchallenged, right, you know, he has an.
Speaker 9 (32:17):
Opportunity to get full status on the European So you know,
things like that make me really happy because you know,
I've been there, right, I've played on Latin America Tour
for three four years, you know, on and off, and
you know, thankfully I was a rookie on the PGA
Tour in twenty two to twenty three. I've been on
(32:37):
corn Ferry the other years. I've been very fortunate. But
I also know what it's like to struggle financially in
golf and how expensive it is, and it's really tough,
it really is, and to provide a little bit of
a pathway for these guys is a very important part
of this event.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
Incredibly proud to be able to do it. Yeah, that's awesome.
So talk about your game and your health and how
are you doing? Actually pretty good.
Speaker 9 (33:01):
Three weeks ago started with a new trainer, name's joe Yager. Uh,
this guy is. I mean, it's unbelievable how smart this
guy is. He notices things with the body that no
one can possibly notice that that doesn't have a special talent.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
Right.
Speaker 9 (33:24):
My agent met him in Chicago when he was watching
another one of his clients, hank Lebyoda play up there
and he sees this guy walk and kind of looks
a little bit out of place, right, you know, Jose
a baseball guy just dipping his toes in golf. But
you know, it doesn't matter what sport you're in. If
you know the body that, well, he's gonna help you.
And Drew goes, hey, hey, you know I'm Drew. You
(33:48):
look like you're you know, a little loss. He goes, yeah,
I don't know what I'm doing. I hate golf. He's like, well,
why why you had a golf and ah, you know,
this is one of my clients, Miles. I got talking,
you know, A hole. Later he looks at Drew. He goes,
your hip hurt. It's like the yeah right hip right yeah.
He goes, well, you're walking wrong, okay, walking wrong forty
(34:11):
I know.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Walk walk and gum, yeah, exactly what I can do too.
Speaker 9 (34:17):
So, you know, his Drew's gate was a little messed
up as he was walking, and taught him kind of
really how to use the ground as he walks. And
in four holes he goes, oh my god, Joe, Joe,
I haven't felt this good in like four months, you know,
and he goes, my back doesn't it anymore?
Speaker 2 (34:32):
My hip doesn't it anymore?
Speaker 9 (34:33):
This is crazy and it's you know, Joe was watching
him walk for twenty minutes. He's like, this must hurt you.
But this guy is so watch this guy. Yeah yeah, yeah,
please watch it.
Speaker 6 (34:44):
Literally hang on somebody you got to meet.
Speaker 9 (34:49):
So long story short, realized that I really wasn't using
the ground at all after surgery.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
In my golf swing. It was all upper body.
Speaker 6 (34:58):
Wow, So apprehension comes after injury.
Speaker 9 (35:02):
It does, but it was kind of frustrating for a
while because I couldn't really quite figure it out because
I'm looking at positions in my golfer. I'm looking at
different stuff. But it was really how I was using
the ground and training the last three weeks really hard,
getting on a better routine with that, and honestly just
(35:24):
not being in as much pain, right, I mean she.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Sees it, right.
Speaker 9 (35:28):
Yeah, that's the person who could tell you.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
I mean it was tough. You know.
Speaker 9 (35:33):
I was in pain every day that I put in
more than what three hours of time every day? Yeah,
I mean I would come home she think I was
kidding some nights, you know, and she's like, now you
just don't want to do the dishes.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
I'm like, no, I can't really move right now. But
I felt feel right now as good as I have
probably a long time. I can't even think of when yeah,
back into twenty two.
Speaker 6 (35:58):
Probably no regimented team, which always helps out, you know,
but it's you know, our daughter.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
He walks in the room and he has this thing,
and our daughter will go down and was in at
a three point stance like ready to play with him.
Speaker 6 (36:09):
He's like, I can't do that, but we can get
in a position closer. But he's moving back.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
But now but now I can go do that.
Speaker 9 (36:17):
Like when she does that, right, you know, she's literally
like she's a lineman getting ready for you know, when
she does that, I can get down right on the
ground and get back up, no issue. And that was
like hard stuff, right, you know, a lot of I'm
sure your listeners understand those kind of tough things again
later in life, right yeah. Yeah, But at thirty one,
that shouldn't be happening, right, So I knew something was
(36:40):
going on, and I'm really thrilled we got it figured out.
Amazing how quick of a turnaround it it's been to
feel better and.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
Playing some damn good golfer.
Speaker 9 (36:50):
Shot fifty nine, shot fifty nine a couple of days ago, dude, Yeah, no,
that was pretty good.
Speaker 7 (36:55):
I've shot fifty nine, but I still have a few holes.
Speaker 6 (36:57):
Time the front, I mean yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well
you were playing behind us, and I told them that
and made the boys a little nervous. I got, yeah,
Brandon's right behind us, so like I was like, screw
and I was like, just be fast. And then with
the group in front of us, I'm like, we're good.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Yeah. No, I mean it's hard to play fast in
this golf course, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
Yeah, it is, Yeah, it's so fun to play.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
It's awesome.
Speaker 6 (37:21):
We had such a good time.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
It's one of the most fun golf courses probably in America.
Play it and I.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
Love and never get tired of Circle on the calendar
every year I had there were some questions I might
not be able to come.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
I did everything possible.
Speaker 6 (37:32):
Which is great.
Speaker 5 (37:33):
So you say that, But we also talked to Patrick
Rape before you and he said the same thing. He's like,
you know, he had playoffs in corn Ferry before, where
obviously it's a non miss. But it's like, you know,
the guys do that. They're like, what can I do
to get up here every time? So it's it's almost
refreshing when the guys can't make it. When we see
Kevin Roy, like, oh, okay, you can't make it. When
Ben Griffin has to play in the prep for the
(37:54):
Ryder Cup, We're like, okay, fine, you know what I mean.
But seeing these other guys that Harry was going over
the list of names, yeah, and seeing them come back
and even even our you know, kind of older classic
guys like the Ted Trievas and and the brad Adam Monas,
like it's just so cool to see them come up here.
Speaker 9 (38:09):
It really is. And you know, it's tough to get
I say this every year. It's tough to get people
up here for the first time.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
It is. And no matter.
Speaker 9 (38:17):
How good people tell them the golf course is, no
matter how good people tell them the event is, it's
just hard. But the first time they can they step
on property, it's hard to.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
Make them live.
Speaker 5 (38:28):
I mean, how many how many out of town memberships
have you converted?
Speaker 6 (38:32):
We I actually might have another one right here. I
brought it up and he goes.
Speaker 5 (38:35):
Hang on, hang on, it's it's amazing and Philly, right.
Speaker 9 (38:40):
You get reciprocals, you know, that's that's the one great
thing about a lot of clubs around here. You know,
Northeast Pennsylvania in general has great golf and a lot
of guys from Philly, from Jersey like to come up here,
whether it's to Scranton, Glenn Morra, Huntsville, Wyoming, Valley, Fox Hill.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
Glen Oak.
Speaker 9 (39:00):
There's you know, there's six, seven, eight golf courses around
here where there's guys that like to travel in and
come play because they are very, very very good. And
you know, obviously we're up in the mountains a little
bit it's a little cooler than than some spots during
the summer, but you know, the national membership has grown
exponentially in the last you know, four or five years,
(39:21):
and hopefully obviously might have been maybe has a little
something to do with it and gaining a little exposure
to the place and at the end of the day.
Speaker 10 (39:29):
Is probably my favorite place on the planet. Have you
ever played Hollywood, which is another travel I heard it's amazing, Yes,
so have I. We got It's in Jersey, New Deal,
New Jersey.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
There's deal in hollywooders. Is there a bowling listen? Man
year five.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
Incredibly proud to see what you guys continue to do.
It's awesome too to be able to be a part
of the j Any over the years and just talking
about it each year and each week on the show
and seeing what it's become is so.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
Cool to uh see a first hand.
Speaker 4 (40:07):
So congrats on everything and continued success, success moving forward.
Speaker 9 (40:11):
Thank you, Thank you guys for having Man. Thanks for
everything you guys always do. Thanks for putting up with
my wife the last Oh.
Speaker 5 (40:17):
Wait, I don't know if you want to thank him
or be mad at him, because he's the one that
convinced me.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
To join you guys.
Speaker 6 (40:23):
When Harry is like, hey, do you want to join us?
I was like, I don't have time. I can't do it.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
But you can see the like it's crazy potential.
Speaker 9 (40:29):
She plays like probably I don't know, thirty seven holes
a year here and there, because I mean she definitely
didn't play a few holes today because her attention.
Speaker 5 (40:37):
I played all of well. I picked up when I
had to because I know that slow golf is back.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
What's the over under twelve holes? Is that about?
Speaker 9 (40:43):
It's twelve is when the attentions fan becomes that then
it just gets It gets too much.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
You know, she like starts hanging on my arm like
a six year old and.
Speaker 9 (40:55):
Come on, well she was making No, it's it's the
first you know, this story, really quick, first nine holes
of golf we've ever played.
Speaker 2 (41:04):
Now, granted I did give.
Speaker 9 (41:07):
Her some you know, three to five footers whatever, the
first nine holes I've ever played with her, right, yeah.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
Give me.
Speaker 9 (41:14):
She shot forty five first hole we played, she ripped
back like a sandwich like five feet to.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
Like this made birdie. I'm like, you know, it's not
supposed to be that easy. You know that, right, right?
But no, it's I encourage her to play more golf
all the time.
Speaker 5 (41:33):
I hooked some things up and I told you guys,
and I told people to hold me accountable.
Speaker 6 (41:37):
But Mike Milisia one of my contacts. I have to
shoot with them.
Speaker 5 (41:40):
The other day, he's one of my clients and I
just said, Mike, I said, I gotta be honest with you.
My husband bought me lessons like four Christmases ago. I've
never taken them. I'm terrible. He always says I have potential.
I said, let's finally do this, and he goes.
Speaker 6 (41:53):
Let's do it. I am.
Speaker 5 (41:55):
I already have Neil Mark at Jupiter Hills. I already
have it set up with him. I'm going there. We're
getting fit it when we get back, so by October hopefully,
I'm hoping they'll come.
Speaker 6 (42:04):
In in time.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
And wow, you know, there you go.
Speaker 6 (42:06):
I got a little travel back.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
She needs it. You know.
Speaker 5 (42:10):
I have his driving iron in my bag, his wedge,
just like I have no business playing his shot.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
He's on an hour ball speed six or four exactly what.
Speaker 9 (42:20):
And I'm like, honey, we can figure out a better situation. No,
I like this one.
Speaker 6 (42:24):
Well, because like one out of every five times I
and I love it. That driving iron will stay in
the bag. Okay, I don't care, you're not taking it.
Speaker 5 (42:33):
Everyone that comes to our house comes shopping in our
garage and I'm like, don't touch it.
Speaker 8 (42:36):
It's mine.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
Don't touch don't touch that three iron.
Speaker 6 (42:40):
Three iron is mind.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
Beautiful, great stuff stuff. Thank you, Thank you. Danielle. You
want to you want to spill some teakes You're yeah.
Speaker 6 (42:49):
Actually, you know what.
Speaker 5 (42:49):
Yeah, we got to get into that a little bit,
and then we're gonna have to wrap up because I
just saw it's three o'clock and the gallis starts at
five thirty.
Speaker 6 (42:56):
So they don't want me wearing.
Speaker 5 (42:57):
These golf clothes there tonight, or maybe they do. But
so obviously we went over the European Ryder Cup. We
talked about that a little bit. But uh, just some
tea that we see on social That's what our rtie
is brought to you by, right.
Speaker 6 (43:09):
What's trending in golf? I saw that JT.
Speaker 5 (43:11):
He has a little daughter and I guess she had
a toy and he started playing with it. Well, it
looks like he has a huge hickey on the center
of his head. I guess it's like a suction cup thing,
so hopefully that's gone by the ryder cup. They were
playing with that, and he has a big old, you know,
hickey on the on the front of his head.
Speaker 2 (43:28):
Mom's like, my god, the.
Speaker 5 (43:29):
Thing that these these dads do, especially for a little girl.
Moose can probably relate to that. Right, little Tally's got
his heart. And then we were talking about this. You know,
I spelled maybe a little bit of a tea on
the course. But Kylie Kelsey, right, we watched the Birds
last night a little bit too long, Harry and I
and Moose all I had late nights.
Speaker 2 (43:46):
My gosh.
Speaker 5 (43:46):
You know, we can talk about spitgate, we can get
into the NFL drama, but let's keep let's keep it
a golf based Kylie Kelsey, she put out there on
her podcast.
Speaker 6 (43:56):
She goes, wait a second, you guys, am I just
discovering golf.
Speaker 5 (44:00):
You get to be outside, you can have a beverage,
you're hanging out with your friend. You're really not supposed
to be on the phone, Like why and how am
I just discovering this right now? And it's like a
lot of the guys were commenting like, don't let my
wife know, or like you know, don't get in on
a secret, but it's just cool seeing the growth of
the game overall and seeing how it's trending and more
(44:20):
and more people. I know, when I was growing up,
I don't know about you guys, but like golf was
for dorks. Was dirty, you know what I mean, Like
if you had golf on, it was like you put
it on to fall asleep in the background.
Speaker 6 (44:31):
You know, Harry has the better voice than me, but.
Speaker 2 (44:33):
Wow, okay, he's hitting a five iron right.
Speaker 6 (44:37):
It's like, you know what I mean, Like nobody wanted
to watch that, and now you know, it's cool. Like
we had a junior clinic here on Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
I am not kidding.
Speaker 6 (44:46):
There was one hundred and fifty kids.
Speaker 5 (44:47):
Y Brendon stayed on that tea for three hours with
the kids from Scraant and Prep and it's like all
these kids like they're you know, they're wearing the G
four stuff. It's golf is cool. And seeing like the
turn that it made. You know, it's probably because of
our podcast. People say how cool we are and they
want to take up the game. But it's awesome just
seeing the growth of the game and seeing that happen
so pretty cool, but yeah, not too much tea because
(45:09):
obviously we have a ton going on this week.
Speaker 6 (45:11):
But that's what's trending in golf right now, Harry, you
got something else.
Speaker 7 (45:14):
Well, that's funny because the Kelseys live like a three
iron away from marrying golf club. So it's amazing that
she's just fish just figuring out that she likes Golf's
that's really cool.
Speaker 2 (45:25):
Yeah, she is a total athlete.
Speaker 7 (45:27):
But the other thing is I used to describe golf
as old men, old out of shape men in bad pants. Yeah,
because that's the way it was in the seventies, in
the early eighties, and then it start to get cool
with Greg Norman and Fred Couples and of course Tiger
Wood's made it cool.
Speaker 5 (45:43):
And honestly, it's like, I think Kylie might have kind
of mentioned this a little bit on her podcast, Like
I just saw the clips, I didn't.
Speaker 6 (45:49):
Listen to the full pod, but she's like, especially.
Speaker 5 (45:51):
For people like Jason Kelsey and Kylie Kelsey, you know,
people like us who were athletes, you know, in our
high school and collegiate years, and we still want to.
Speaker 2 (46:00):
Little your competitive drive going.
Speaker 5 (46:02):
You you want to get out there, and you know,
hammer it past. You're you're playing partner by.
Speaker 6 (46:06):
Even if it's just a foot, it's just like I
got you.
Speaker 5 (46:08):
You know, you want to make berdie you And I
think what was it like seventeen or eighteen one of
you said, You're like, like, you know, you want to
just keep going, like you made a good putt, you
had a good hole, and that's what like pools you
back in and keeps you going. It's just it's a
fun game. It sucks sometimes, but it's a fun game.
Speaker 7 (46:24):
If Moose and I weren't up until one thirty in
the morning last night and having to get up early
and he drove up here, we could have gone and
played another nine holes.
Speaker 3 (46:32):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (46:33):
When we were coming at eighteen, like, I did lose
my patients a little bit and it was kind of
like d and then on eighteen I'm like, wait, we're done.
I was like, I'm kind of ready to go back out.
So it's awesome. We love this game.
Speaker 2 (46:44):
Yeah, be up here.
Speaker 4 (46:46):
Well, we'll talk in the next couple of weeks about
our outing some of our great sponsors, including where SBF Danielle.
Speaker 5 (46:54):
That's right, yeah, yeah, whereas PF is the sponsor of
our tea with d and everything that's trending in golf.
So if you guys are looking for sun protection that
actually worked and feels great, where SPF by PGA pro
Justin Thomas has you covered on and off the course,
dermatologists tested and sweat resistant. It's broad spectrum SPF that
won't mess up your swing or your skin from the
(47:16):
first tee to everyday life. Protect yourself like the pros
shop now where SPF dot com. That's where SPF dot
com and stay sun safe.
Speaker 6 (47:24):
All year long.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
Powers puts it on his dome.
Speaker 5 (47:27):
Oh yeah he has to. You know that ha's going
on and off. I saw him over there a couple
of times reapplying to where SPF. He has that stick
to that he rubs on its face on occasion.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
It's day stick.
Speaker 6 (47:37):
Yeah, yeah, that sticks easy.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
It was the top of my cheek. That's where I
get like red.
Speaker 6 (47:42):
I've even seen you at the truest. You keep that
stick all yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (47:46):
Keep that thing, no doubt about it. But we'll talk
more about our sponsors in the next couple weeks. Are
extraordinarily sold out golf out, like it is ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (47:56):
Howshold out of this? But people still are trying to say.
Speaker 4 (47:59):
They've forgotten they need it in I'm like, Okay, who
do I call and tell them they can't play?
Speaker 2 (48:02):
Then? Right? Who's getting bumped? Yeah, and we did.
Speaker 5 (48:05):
We did talk about our cops streak thing, right, Yeah,
we talked about that last week.
Speaker 8 (48:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (48:09):
So we'll have maybe a little special little prize up
our sleeves for you know, for the tournament, which is
exciting course with us.
Speaker 4 (48:17):
Yeah, we'll go through all the prizing, all the activations,
everything in the next couple of weeks leading up to it.
But uh yeah, and we have some some great guests
lined up over the next couple of weeks and looking
forward to.
Speaker 2 (48:28):
Uh to getting back on and talking to you guys.
This was awesome.
Speaker 4 (48:31):
Love being out here, great playing with you guys today.
It was a lot of fun, fun talking about how
but it's also fun playing golf of you guys. Yeah, blast,
today's good stuff. All right, We'll be back next week.
Thanks for watching, Thanks for listening
Speaker 2 (48:41):
But listen, swing it and ding it.
