Speaker 1 (00:05):
You just got to get out there and swing and
dang it.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yeah, you know, just uh, I guess it's gonna go
out there and try to swing it and dang it.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
All right, Hello and welcome to swing it and dan it.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Harry, you are.

Speaker 4 (00:16):
Looking live the beautiful Legacy Club here in Cherry Hill
on what has.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Turned out to be a spectacular day. It really as
surprises here.

Speaker 5 (00:24):
Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
I mean this place was beautiful in July.

Speaker 6 (00:27):
But now with the fall and getting the foliage and
the golf course looks so green, we got great. You know,
the weather passed through last night. I know you were
maybe up all night wondering if this was going to
actually come.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
Off two two nights ago. But we have a lot
of I want to be meteorologists in the crowd. Don't know,
if you know, gotcha in the crowd today. I've got
a lot of texts and calls and people predicting weather pattern.
Really yeah, I didn't know that about a lot of people.
It's been fun learning that. Was it a positive or was.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
It a negative prediction? Mostly it's always negative.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Okay, it's always nice, you know, yeah, but not you
how you're always positive?

Speaker 5 (01:03):
Well, yeah, I like that.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Well, we're going to talk about your morning and your lesson,
but more important, we're going to talk about why why
we are here. The Magical Meala Foundation and Jessica Rubert
is joining us.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Hi, jess Hi, guys.

Speaker 7 (01:14):
Thank you so much for having me, and thank you
so much as always for doing this for us.

Speaker 8 (01:19):
You know that it means the world.

Speaker 7 (01:20):
And it was like, I can never look at you
without getting choked up.

Speaker 8 (01:24):
But you know, I know how much Meala meant to you, and.

Speaker 7 (01:28):
I can we just talk really quickly about the fact
that a butterfly landed on your golf by yesterday?

Speaker 3 (01:33):
How about that?

Speaker 4 (01:34):
What sitting there on the range at Trout National and
was literally texting these guys about something and a butterfly,
which is synonymous with meal and a Magical Meal Foundation,
lands right on the bag.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
First it was on the swing and thing it logo,
and then it moved over. Grabbed a picture of it.

Speaker 9 (01:53):
So wow, likely significant.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
I know, I'm getting chills.

Speaker 7 (01:58):
Yeah, I'm huge believer in signs and that really was
like it took my breath away.

Speaker 8 (02:04):
It was amazing.

Speaker 9 (02:05):
You grew up a photo in Texas.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, that's awesome. It was awesome.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
It was great, So talk about you know, we have
a lot going on today. We see a lot of
people that are making donations, which is awesome. We are
also going to have a silent auction here later which
is the first time we're doing it this year, with
all the proceeds going directly to the Magical Media Foundation.
But just talk about when you know the folks are
being so generous and doing that, what that goes towards,
and what that helps effect.

Speaker 7 (02:28):
So the Magical Meala Foundation, we've come such a long
way in the last five years, I would say. But
we raise awareness of neurofibromatosis type one and more specifically
high blood pressure and high risk children under the age
of three. And we it's really under the age of
three because kids don't need their blood pressure taken until

(02:49):
they're three years old unless they're high risk. But for
those kids who are under the age of three, who
are high risk, it's almost impossible to get a blood
pressure on them because when the cuff squeezes, they scream,
they cry, and then you get a false positive. So
what we've done is we actually have raised We're almost
at a million dollars since we started We're at nine

(03:12):
hundred and eighty thousand lifetime right now, and we've funded
clinical trials.

Speaker 8 (03:19):
We've partnered with Baxter.

Speaker 7 (03:20):
International, and we have put together toolkits that are now
in all thirty one primary care centers affiliated with.

Speaker 8 (03:30):
Children's Hospital at Philadelphia.

Speaker 7 (03:32):
That really just like are getting helping to obtain accurate
readings on these kids. So we use a different type
of blood pressure machine by Baxter by well Jalon that
takes the blood pressure on the way up instead of
the way down, so it's not it doesn't squeeze as hard,
kids don't cry.

Speaker 8 (03:49):
We've bought, we funded educational materials.

Speaker 7 (03:53):
We've put together posters that are hanging in all the
primary care centers that are essentially cheat sheets for with
tips what you can do to obtain accurate blood pressure readings.

Speaker 8 (04:02):
And these kids, all.

Speaker 7 (04:04):
Of the nurses and the doctors are wearing badge cards
that have those cheat sheets on them. We bought toys
that are hanging from each of the blood pressure machines
throughout the primary care centers and in some of the
specialty care centers too. So we really come along with
and I did want to share our statistics with you
guys that we just recently got. When we first started,

(04:25):
the percentage of VP screenings and high risk children under
the age of three at CHAP was one point seven percent.

Speaker 8 (04:33):
We're now up to seventy two percent.

Speaker 5 (04:35):
Wow.

Speaker 7 (04:36):
So and that's across the board at CHAP and then
like more specifically, you know, in Montgomery County it went
from seven point seven percent to sixty one percent, in
Delaware County. In South Philly it went from two point
nine percent to seventy five percent. Inner City Philly went
from one point six to seventy two. So we're really
we've come a long way, really.

Speaker 9 (04:58):
Proud, tremendous thanks to you guys for.

Speaker 8 (05:01):
Helping to spread this awareness and helping to fund what
we do.

Speaker 5 (05:05):
Love it.

Speaker 6 (05:05):
So I imagine the staffing at these locations have been
very receptive to the re education process.

Speaker 7 (05:12):
Yeah, thank you for asking about that. Actually, as part
of what we do, we over the summer we visited
all thirty one primary care centers. We did like these
lunch and learns, and we went we spoke to the staff.
It was they all said it was really nice to
put a face to the name because they have so
many people come in and talk. But the fact that

(05:34):
you know, we were able to say Neila is our daughter,
this is what she dealt with, and you know her
high blood pressure wasn't detected, and here are some things
that you can do to make sure that that doesn't
happen again. And they are so receptive. They keep in
touch with us. They've all messaged us since our lunch
and learns like they.

Speaker 8 (05:53):
Need more toys, they need more of this.

Speaker 7 (05:55):
They're like all very We said, like we hope every
time you take a blood pressure now you think of Mela.

Speaker 8 (06:00):
Always make sure on the right upper arm.

Speaker 7 (06:03):
Never let them leave without obtaining it, Like even if
they're crying, please make sure that they say and don't
leave without it, because you know you can miss something
so beautiful.

Speaker 9 (06:13):
You said almost a million dollars raise, which is incredible. Congratulations,
Thank you.

Speaker 10 (06:18):
What are other ways that people can have can donate
support other than obviously this event?

Speaker 9 (06:23):
What else you guys do through the year and how
can they find more information about you?

Speaker 8 (06:26):
Put so you can donate anytime on our website magical
Meala Foundation dot org and you can find us on Instagram.
Now TikTok, we're up. I don't know how to do it,
but I.

Speaker 9 (06:39):
Don't even know how to use it.

Speaker 7 (06:43):
But and just always check our website. We always have
events going on like sip and shops. We have our
big summer fundraiser every year in Margie and then we
do We might be doing a Butterfly Ball next year,
which is a gala that we've done in the past.
It's black tie. We usually do it in no Va,
So we think we're going to do it. If we
hit a million dollars, we think we're going to do it.

Speaker 9 (07:04):
That's a big mark to celebrate.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Yes, definitely, we have to get you back over to
your town.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
I think you're a better salesperson than dan Is, So
we don't want to keep you here too long because
we know that that donations could suffer from that. But
thank you for stopping over. And yeah, and anyone that
actually can hear us, make sure the silent auction afterwards,
UH to support make sure you you.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Check it out. But thank you, Jess, thank you.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
Awesome.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
All right, So Harry talk about the lesson this morning.
You're ready to go here?

Speaker 6 (07:28):
What dude, I'm telling you, Steve Saraki, He's you know,
I'm not saying there's gonna be any miracles worked here today,
but he's given me something.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
To work on for the entire off season.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
I got.

Speaker 6 (07:39):
I was forced to get my body into positions I
didn't know existed.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (07:43):
Yeah, you're gonna be sure. Oh I'm sure already. Yeah, Yeah,
I'm gonna I might need the stretch lessons hurt. I
might need the stretch.

Speaker 10 (07:49):
Some Yeah, there's a line over there waiting because I
have my back's a little off, and I was like, okay, yeah,
there's a list waiting for us.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
Yeah, how's you happing on with us? Come on over, young,
like young TALLEREDA. This morning you did?

Speaker 6 (08:05):
Oh yeah, I got heckled during my lesson by a
golf professional. PGA Tour professional said hey, take two weeks
off and then quit.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Wow that's not.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
The kind of support you're looking for. Michael TALLEREDA.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Good to see you, you guys do. How's the game looking.

Speaker 11 (08:25):
I haven't played too much just because I've been fall
ball for school some baseball, but I got out a
couple of days ago and actually played pretty well, So
feeling good going into it all.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Right, Yeah, how's the baseball off season?

Speaker 5 (08:37):
Good?

Speaker 6 (08:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (08:37):
We had just finished off fall ball, so kind of
can transition to a little golf before we get back
into the swing of things in the winter and getting
ready for the spring.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
But what's the season when? What's it start?

Speaker 7 (08:47):
What?

Speaker 3 (08:47):
You go down to Florida spring training.

Speaker 11 (08:49):
So we'll start in like late February early March for games,
and then we'll go down to Florida for spring break,
get like two weeks down there, get in the sun,
escape all the cold up north, and then we came off. Yeah,
it's freezing enough in New York, so it's not the
best baseball weather.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
Harry, this is a guy along with his uncle Dave,
that won this tournament right in the past. So prediction wise,
how you're feeling course conditions, different time of year, throw
some changes at you.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
That's the squad looking.

Speaker 11 (09:14):
Yeah, I mean, uh, we had Johnny Tarmac last year,
so we're gonna miss him.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
We won with him.

Speaker 11 (09:19):
But that's right, it's it's looking good. I mean the
course in great shape. I love fall golf, so I'm
excited for the West. Beautiful day, so you can't beat it.
I think we got a good squad, So hoping to
repeat and then win the playoff at the end.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
That'll be fun to win the trip.

Speaker 9 (09:33):
Is that where that hat came from?

Speaker 3 (09:34):
It is two years ago, made it to Casa Wait.

Speaker 9 (09:38):
I think you guys beat us in it because I
had my father in law.

Speaker 10 (09:40):
I was like maybe a couple of drinks and you know,
I had Russ hitted onto the green and I was like,
all right, Teddy, you putt instead of me pudding?

Speaker 9 (09:48):
Yeah, and he missed it.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
Yeah, it was a short one.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
I remember.

Speaker 9 (09:51):
I gave him so.

Speaker 10 (09:52):
Much, yeah, grief all the time about I'm like, Teddy,
we could have been a consta combo, but you missed
the putt.

Speaker 9 (09:57):
So but luckily you got the trip.

Speaker 11 (09:58):
We did get lucky and my uncle made a nice pot,
so shout out him for thinking if. But yeah, it
was unfortunate in this but maybe you guys will want
it this year.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
So all right, well, thank you for stopping over. Brother,
We'll see you out there. Appreciate you having me play well.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
So you know there's a lot going on yourself, great
squad here though, But Powers was here last night setting
stuff up.

Speaker 9 (10:20):
You know that what Powers is here setting stuff up?
What were you doing?

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Another much? I just I had some stuff to catch
up on it.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
But a lot, a lot is going on this morning
already the club with the leg that the staff, the
Legacy Club is the best.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Like I don't worry about anything. They take care of
anything we need.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
But you know, the dryer has been delivered to their hearts,
gir hearts. The brough Drive a chill, chill Moody is
already set up with his nice things beverages transfusions out
there on five. But there's a ton and there's a
ton after the round, so uh, it just keeps going
and going.

Speaker 10 (10:52):
Yeah, this stretch zone is out there, there's a line
of people getting all warmed up. We have the Striking Clinic,
the Long Drive Clinic with West.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Those boys out there now probably they are.

Speaker 5 (11:02):
And the Chippets Room lunch is already.

Speaker 6 (11:04):
Uh is already thinking taking a serious hit.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
I see some empty trees.

Speaker 9 (11:10):
Harry's favorite, the Tits Bar set.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
Up on right.

Speaker 6 (11:12):
Yeah, yeah, we got the tone would Beer.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
I can see their tent right out here. Tone would brewing.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Very popular, very popular, especially at this club.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
Might have to try that Crooked Tea one of those
popular brands here for sure.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Grab Jordan's.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
Yeah, we're gonna have our our buddy Jordan here from
a kind of candy talk about it.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Okay, another another gamer? A right, he's looking he has
in hand. I don't know. He's more of a driver.
He's better a driver guy than a putter.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
Anybody walking around with theirs?

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Pretty serious.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
There's another guy with the potter.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
Yeah, yeah, he's doing.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
How we doing good?

Speaker 12 (11:50):
Good?

Speaker 1 (11:51):
Thanks you for having me.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
How's the game doing?

Speaker 1 (11:53):
He's doing good? You know, hip is doing alright?

Speaker 3 (11:56):
You have you had some injuries you had to overcome.

Speaker 12 (11:58):
Yeah, I've had three, uh, knee surgeries, one hip surgery
in the last week, and I actually have hip surgery
coming up on my right side now. Really Yeah, what's
a hip surgery? Torn labor and this thing called like
an fai it's a bone deformation where you're ahead of
your femur is misshapen, so it like has to it

(12:18):
hits into my bone and the hip.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
And that's what tour my labor did on the left side.

Speaker 10 (12:23):
Basically, like a square hip socket or square hip joint
in a circle sock.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
They reshaped.

Speaker 12 (12:28):
They have to shave down my bone on the femur
head so it fits inside the socket.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
And so that's why it doesn't rotate very well.

Speaker 10 (12:36):
I'm gonna have to let you talk to Brandon because
you two have twin bodies, it sounds like wow.

Speaker 12 (12:41):
But everything's been good otherwise, you know, uh, still be
able to play, which is nice. Haven't played sports in
a while, but golf is one of those things that
I can at least play a little bit.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
But it's so much fun. And then being here for
this event is awesome.

Speaker 9 (12:54):
Yeah. That's when you walked up and you said good.
I thought you had a good good.

Speaker 12 (12:58):
Bad yeah, which is great because I just assumed, yeah,
that's the bad birdies.

Speaker 5 (13:03):
Yeah yeah, Yeah. Where do you play most of your golf?

Speaker 12 (13:06):
I'm up in Mamouth County, so like Charleston or Hominy Hill.
I actually love Homony Hill. It's a great course. But
I've actually played here last year when we sponsored the
event for Kona Candy. We had a bunch of our
stuff around like cream savers, the retrosurs and stuff like that,
and we had out here.

Speaker 10 (13:25):
We'll talk to us a little bit about that where
you guys are located, what you have.

Speaker 9 (13:29):
I mean that retro candy gets a little nostalgia going, yeah,
you know, and I like a little treat here. I
might have to get out there and find those cream Savers.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
So I kind of candy is my company.

Speaker 12 (13:38):
We acquired like old nostalgia candy brands and bring them
back to the market. Started while I was in college
and been continuing ever since. We've acquired Cream Savers, one
of our biggest brands we brought back in twenty twenty.
It's that swirld hard piece of candy. We're launching right now,
Chocolate and caramel cream, peaches and cream, raspberries and cream.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Those are going into a bunch of stores right now.
We're actually in Walmart.

Speaker 12 (14:04):
We just went into Targets, CVS Walgreens.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
How hard is that, Yeah, like to get into Wamart.

Speaker 12 (14:12):
So the hardest thing is just doing the job of
like bringing these products back because so many people have
like their memories of it.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
The nostalgia exactly.

Speaker 12 (14:21):
So like if you do ninety percent right, they won't
think of that as a success. It's the ten percent
you did wrong right. So that I think is a
big challenge. But I take a lot of pride in
what we do, and we do it right. We take
a long time to do it right. But to your point,
the getting into those large retail change Everyone's like, oh,
why aren't you just selling it into these.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Stores and like, it just doesn't work that way.

Speaker 12 (14:43):
You have to have relationships who work with brokers, You
have to meet the buyers. They have reviews only once
a year. Sometimes they don't do a lot of changes,
so it could be years and years of hard work
and you might think you might get in and then
you just find out three months later after a presentation
like nope, it make a change better look next year.

Speaker 7 (15:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (15:02):
Wild.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
It is wild.

Speaker 12 (15:03):
But as we've grown and as we've gotten more brand
recognition within the industry, a lot of companies have now
started coming to us one of our brand, which has
been a really great transition. It's been it's been a
lot of fun. I work with my wife, she's our CFO,
and she is that work. It's you know, a lot
of people are like, it must be crazy for you

(15:23):
to work with your wife, and I said, honestly, I
wouldn't be able to work without her.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Wow, we have we have a wonderful relations good answer. Yeah,
wonderful relationship.

Speaker 5 (15:32):
Good answer.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Jordan. Thank you for joining us. Man.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
Look forward to seeing out there and hanging out afterwards
and doing all this fun stuff.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Hopefully you're in some of these competitions in the end.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Yeah, we guys so much.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Take care, all right, brother, got.

Speaker 9 (15:44):
To get some cream save or some other that nostalgic candy.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
All right, we're gonna we're gonna wrap up soon, but
we gotta get our friends from buying my balls in here.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
Max and Mike's guys. You might have to share them.
You might to share them, Mike.

Speaker 9 (15:56):
Yeah, we might have very good I can for this.
Oh that's as.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
You brave the cool Northeast temperatures once again for us.
We appreciate that.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
Yeah we did.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
How are we feeling. We're feeling good. Yeah, feeling good. Yeah,
out here, ready to play some golf.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
You got the squad with you, bet, thank you for
bringing some some buy my balls.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Talk about where things are since the last time we talked.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Yeah, Yeah, companies growing. We had a pretty good season,
a lot of new customers. I think we're up about
seventy six seventy seven thousand customers nationwide. Definitely starting to
see a slow down now that gol's wrapping up up
here in the Northeast and across the country, but hoping
for a big pickup in the Florida, Georgia, Arizona area.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
Here and Paris through the winter. Beautifulful, beautiful.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
All right, so you took a look at the sheet.
What's got you excited here? What do you have circle?
What do you what are we looking for?

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Long drive is definitely these boys can find definitely a
fun one.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
You can send it, but you could be honest.

Speaker 9 (16:54):
You guys are waiting to jump in the pond.

Speaker 12 (16:56):
Yeah yeah, right right, that's that's where we get there.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Yeah, yeah, we we just see. We look at lakes,
we look at bushes and we just see.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Uh yeah, yeah, yeah, No.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
It's great. It's great to be up here.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
It's great to get out of the office. So, uh,
you know, hop you guys had us up beautiful. Thank
you for joining us.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Man.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
We're looking forward to kicking things all very soon.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
A lot of stuff just finalizing right now and we're
gonna get out there and swing it and ding it awesome.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Thanks for joining us boys. You got it all right, guys.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
I think we should probably put a bow on this
because we're getting close.

Speaker 5 (17:29):
Yeah, we're getting close to eleven o'clock. Tight.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
Our national anthem singer is here. I don't have to
do that, so that's tremendous. That's good and uh yeah,
stay tuned. We'll be back this week with another episode
and we will recap everything that went on.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
But thank you for listening.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
Thank you to all of our great sponsors to help
support this uh Magical Meal Foundation thanked you as well,
and we'll be back soon next week.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Thanks for listening, but listen, swing it and ding it.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
