Speaker 1 (00:00):
Happy Monday, Kentuckyana. Thanks for joining us and hanging out
as we get another week started here at News Radio
eight forty WHS. I mean we didn't just start. We've
been here since five o'clock in the morning. So if
you've been with us throughout, thank you appreciate that. If
you are just now joining us, welcome in. We are
fueled by Thornton's. Make sure you keep them in mind
to get your day started. They've got a lot of
great breakfast options. I go with the sausage, egg and

(00:21):
cheese croissant, but if you're looking for something maybe a
little lighter, you can get a donut and a cup
of coffee for just three dollars. So again, we are
proudly fueled by Thornton's. Also, if you want to take
us with you wherever you go, maybe you are getting
ready to get out of the vehicle and start your workday,
whatever it is, whatever your situation, you can always listen
to us live on the iHeartRadio app and with the
out Radio app. We have the talkback line that is

(00:41):
powered by Alex R. White Lawyers to Distracted driver dot Com.
So just keep that in mind. Anything you want to
share with us. You can do it. Just click that
microphone button and you are good to go. And if
you're ever in a situation where a distracted driver has
ruined your day and caused a big issue for you,
that happens the tracted drivers everywhere, and you never really

(01:02):
know how you're going to react until you're in that moment.
But I think one of those moments, one of those
reactions will be, Hey, how I need to make sure
I've got the right personal injury attorney that is going
to fight for me, that is going to do right
by me. And I can tell you nobody is going
to do a better job than that than Alex are
White and his team. So go to Pseudistracted driver dot
com and and check them out. All right, So right now,
LMPD is warning folks that there is a car theF

(01:24):
ring that is hitting the southwestern part of the city.
So they're looking for a group of four armed suspects
that are responsible for a string of early morning car
thefs over the weekend and LMPD it's the third division.
They say the suspects have been targeting homes and vehicles
across several neighborhoods and when you see the the surveillance

(01:45):
footage from I guess the security cameras that people have
in these neighborhoods, or just even the stills from that footage,
I mean, you can clearly tell they are armed, they
have guns drawn. It's a scary visual and I can
understand if you're in one of those neighborhoods that'll that'll
put you on it, no doubt. But yeah, lympd shared
on social media that they're not you know, they're not
just breaking into cars, they're stealing entire vehicles, and that,

(02:08):
of course is a scary situation. So the thefts have
been reported in neighborhoods including Auburndale, Fairdale, Iroquois, Iroquois Park,
Kenwood Hill, PRP, Southland Park, south Side, Yorktown, and Valley Stations.
So the surveillance video that they have out there, I mean,
one of those videos actually shows a suspect stealing a
car right from a home driveway and looking as if

(02:32):
that's just what they do, right, Like, it doesn't. And
again it's a security footage, so it's hard to really
make much out of it other than what you can
see happening but didn't look like that was the first
time doing it, if you know what I mean. So
lmpd's urging anybody with any information or home surveillance footage
to come forward because this is a dangerous situation, no doubt.
And I've never had anything happen like this to me,

(02:56):
but some years back in our old neighborhood, we and
I'm sure there's a lot of you listening that have
been in this situation before where there just becomes a
wave of break ins to where middle of the night
you got people roaming the streets discreetly just seeing if
they can get into your vehicles because you may have

(03:16):
left them unlocked, and it didn't later turned into where
they were breaking into vehicles and then we actually had
some cars stolen. So it was pretty bad in this neighborhood.
But they were ultimately able to get it to get it.
You know, I don't know if they got it completely fixed,
because again, it could still happened in any time. But
there my neighborhood that I was in, I guess you
could say they really looked like the prime spot because

(03:38):
I guess enough people there were not leaving their doors locked,
and of course people could get in. But I had
it happened to where I didn't lose anything because there
was nothing valuable. I mean, I didn't have anything in
my car that they I mean, I didn't have any
change or anything like that. But I remember, and it
was rare for me to even have my vehicle out
because typically we park in the garage. But for some
reason I did not leave my car in the garage
and I left it unlocked, and I came out the

(03:59):
next morning and just opening the door and seeing that
my center console had been opened, and they didn't they
didn't ransack it, but they were looking without any without
any thought of, you know, leaving it clean after they
get looking to steal from me, to where I could
tell somebody had gone through it and just left it
because there was nothing valuable to take. So I didn't

(04:21):
instantly have any fear of like what are they going
to get? But I never I'll never forget the feeling
of being violated. It's really petty and silly because at
the end of the day, if they would have stolen
anything out of my car, I mean, it probably wouldn't
have been something that I can't replace because I don't
keep valuable stuff in my car. But just knowing that
somebody was there. It was a weird feeling that, like
I it made me, forever moving forward, want to be

(04:44):
more mindful of making sure I've got everything secured and
locked up as best I can, because that was just
a scary feeling, to be honest with you. And it
was probably just some knucklehead kid in my neighborhood or
something like that. I don't I mean, I don't know,
maybe it wasn't, but either way, it totally made me
flip a switch as far as just all right, we're
gonna have security cameras, we're gonna have security system, and

(05:05):
of course we have a garage. Let's not leave our
vehicles out just because again I guess technically they could
get in your garage too, I mean, if if we're
talking you know, high level criminals. But I guess what
really got me is that that night when I left
it unlocked, you know, because I usually park in the garage.
What do I have on my visor above the driver's
side the garage door opener?

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Right?

Speaker 1 (05:27):
And I think it was knowing that if it was
somebody that was, you know, a sick sob, which unfortunately
there are many of those out there this day and
age right, But just knowing that they could have opened
the garage come into my home where my children and
I were sleeping in the middle of the night like
that scared the hell out of me. Luckily they didn't
do that, or they could have just stolen the garage

(05:49):
door opener, and just like you know, at that point,
I'd have been held hostage knowing that I got to
replace this garage door. I gotta make it to where
that door opener is not gonna work, because you know,
they could just come back when nobody see here and
get in. So yeah, I uh, you know that was
my situation. If you're somebody that is that has pulled
up your security footage and you see you see four
men with guns drawn navigating your driveway to see if

(06:12):
they can steal your car, I mean, that's a different
level of probably feeling violated. So again, you can look
at the security footage that's out there at lmpd's social
media pages, and here's to hoping they figure out who's
doing this, because again, it's become widespread enough to where
clearly the community is at risk here and lmpd's letting
you know about it. All right, We've got trafficking, weather
updates on the way, stick around, Also stick around for

(06:35):
the next program that's coming your way, Tony and Dwight.
Is Dwight back from Cabo just yet? I don't know
if he's back today or you miss him, but I
know he's enjoying himself in Cabo. So you know, I'm
not trying to speed up your vacation, my friend. But
you know, if if you are back, I'll be happy
to see you. But if you're still there enjoying yourself,
then you know, enjoy your trip all right. You get
tracking weather updates on the way right here on his
radio weight forty whas. I know I'm not the only

(07:00):
one that'll see something online and then instantly say, Okay,
that sounds a little too good to be true. That
may be fake. Maybe that's maybe that's just one of
the many things you see on the Internet that unfortunately
a lot of people believe. But you can maybe have
a little bit of a radar to knowing that just
because it's on the Internet, it's not true. But Home
Depot is doing something really cool that maybe you are

(07:20):
already aware of this, but if not, I think you'll
agree that it's pretty cool. And it may be something
that is useful information for those looking for a new
career path or maybe their first career path, depending on
how old you are. But Home Depot has a program
called path to pro where they offer free training for
various trades. So this offers free self paced online courses

(07:41):
in HVAC, carpentry, electrical work, and construction, and it helps
you earn certificates that can open doors to do different
jobs across those industries that are in demand. I mean
that's something I'm doing an advret for home Deep. I'm not.
I just think this is cool. But four to thousand
trade job openings, that is what currently the US is

(08:01):
facing and skilled labor. We talked about this not that
long ago. It's a great career. I mean it's it's
a skilled job. I mean you're skilled in something that
that is seemingly going to always be around and you
can make a great living doing it. For a long time,
and when I was younger, it just wasn't as talked

(08:23):
about that you could still have a great career, a
great life, provide for your family and you didn't have
to even think about going to a four year college.
And again, I think anybody who goes to college should
be proud of themselves for accomplishing that and finishing college
and getting a degree. But also there's so many examples
that where you really don't have to have that in
order to be in order to be successful. And yeah,

(08:45):
you're seeing you're seeing this with with home depot offering.
Hey we'll come train you how to do it. Now again,
what you know? Are you going to learn enough to
where some of these some of these employers were willing
to hire you with that being your only experience that
I'm not sure how Let's be honest. I mean, if
there's that much of a demand, they're going to be
needing people, and hey, that's better training than having none

(09:05):
at all. So again, if you want to get more information,
it's Path the Pros. That's the website. So check them out.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Again.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
It sound like I'm doing a liverorate. I'm not. Yeah,
pathwopro dot com is the website where you can sign
up and get more information about getting that free training.
All right, So right now, the real estate market, as
you have probably seen, there have been some improvements when
it comes to the mortgage rates. Right, that was a
big thing that probably delayed you from getting results with

(09:33):
your house on the market or maybe it delayed you
and even putting your house on the market. Well, again,
there's no better time than now because again you've got
some momentum on your side. But if you do this,
you need to trust my friend Bob Sicoler with the
Cecolar team at Remax Properties Ease, because Bob is always
going to be able to show you in a lot
of ways why he is valuable, why he is the guy.
You should trust him and his team throughout this process.

(09:53):
But right now, I want to emphasize that you're gonna
have questions because of the market changing, You're gonna have
questions about, you know, how do we take advantage and
he can answer all those questions for you. And uh,
you don't end up in this situation without providing a
great service in the buying and selling home process. You don't.
You don't. You don't establish your reputation that he has
without doing it consistently for a long long time. So

(10:15):
you go to we sell loiso dot com to get
more information, or you can give Baba call directly FABO
two three seven six five four eight three. Again, he'll
help you when it comes to just making sure your
home is priced where it needs to be priced, as
far as getting the right people to look at it.
He'll come to your house free at charge, no obligation,
and again he'll help you get your home sold quickly
for the right price. So if you've been putting it

(10:37):
off because you've been scared about all the headlines out
there when it comes to the market, don't be scared.
You can take advantage of the value that your home
has right now, and there's nobody better to help you
do that than Bob Scoler. Again. Give Baba call Fabo
two three seven six live or Fabo two three seven
six five four eight three We sell Loiva dot com
is the website, and consider your house sold, all right,

(10:59):
quick up of trafficking weather on the way. Also, we've
got another sports update coming up from Scott so stick
around right here on his radio eight forty whas so
cold air could be creeping into your home that fall
weather it was here and it's kind of here now,
gonna be warmer today. But the cool weather it's on
the way. And you don't need to let crack your
stuff windows ruin the season. Window Nation has some of
the best replacement windows out there, installed in just one

(11:22):

lifetime warranty in this month only, month of October. You
buy two windows, you get too free with no limit.
Even better, you make no payments, no down payment, and
no interest until twenty twenty seven. That's why I trust
Window Nation and you should too. They got eight plus

(11:43):
Check them out online at window nation dot com. All right,
just a few minutes left for us before we get
out of here and hand it off to Tony Venetti.
But not Dwight whitting He's he back stateside yet.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
No, he's he'll be back Thursday or Wednesday, but he
has he needs a decompression day from his decompression speakle
do yeah, yeah, yeah. Well he's also survived a hurricane.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Yeah, there's flooding apparently going on in Cabo.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Yeah. My wife flew into New York today, so that's
flooding too. Well, she's got a North Carolina flooding, New
York flooding.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
She's just going all, She's going all across the country.
It seems and not taking you with her.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
No, I guess that's part of you having a job
responsibility to retire and go travel with her.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
When you retire, you're gonna be a traveler.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yeah, I'm gonna travel with her because she's got a
job that does that, so I tag along. Essentially. She
will tell you that a lot of her co workers
there are husbands and wives that are with them because
they're older and they can do that and the kids
are gone and stuff like that. But she's because you
tag along. The hotel's paid for, right, Yeah, all he's
gonna do is paid for the flight, and you're good. Yeah. Yeah,

(12:43):
that's kind of a neat thing.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Absolutely. So I love to travel, but I just it's
not My traveling is due to the fact my wife
plans everything and if she wants to go on a trip,
I'm all in, sign me up, I'll go. But when
I think of life at retirement, which is a long
long way away from me. In fact, it may never happen,
given you know the way things are going, but I
would want to make give it be my priority. I'm
gonna try to find cool places to go travel and experience.

(13:08):
I like going to the same places that we love.
But one difference with my wife and as far as travel,
she can go the same place every time any trip
we take.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
She says, every time you do that, you go why
did it take us so long to visit this place? This?
We can do both.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Like, I love the idea of experiencing new places.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
I mean, I'm not going to Midland, Texas. Now, why
don't you have to throw my hometown in there?

Speaker 1 (13:30):
The Neetti Here's a big vacation destination.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
There's a lot of drive, dirt and small. Well have
we got some out there and we got some good
high school I got to bring this up because it
drove me crazy yesterday. Wow, the fact that that Cincinnati
kicker you saw that one, Oh yeah, he had he
would have had there's a reason you iceed the kicker

(13:53):
and it would have been on the greatest kick of
all time because it hit the crossbar and rolled in.
He kicked sixty seven year a yard of field goal,
which would have beaten the old number by two yards.
They called a timeout right at the last second.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Yep, and it was. It was the perfect example of
utilizing the ability to get that time out an ice
the kicker. Because I don't know if anybody felt like
the second kick had a chance once he made the
first one. I'm like, yeah, there's no way he's gonna
have the boot to get it there a second time,
or he may just shake it, and he didn't do that.
But it really wasn't close to.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
The second he timed it. The coach at Green Bay
timed it to where he waited, waited, waited for him
to kick it, and then time out and it wasn't
a Kirby smart timeout either, which I know, how did
you do that, Kirby? They snapped the ball and you
can call a timeout.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
I don't. So it's uh, it takes keep in mind
where the ref is right next to that coach when
you when you were in his ear, and by the
time he gets there to tell everybody.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
All I haven't been snapped at.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Yeah, then the ball snapped, So if the rev hears
it before it snapped, he's not going to have time
to actually let everybody know that the play dead.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
So and Green Bay fans knew they were going to
win that game, right, They knew they were going to
win that game. And they and I think even the
Green Bay fans were like, that was amazing, and you
took an NFL record that will probably be a while
for it. It's broken. Oh yeah, I mean the Cowboys
get it. Sixty five has been.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
I think Bucker did it twice.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
I believe sixty five, yeah, because I think that's the threshold.
And if you see this, that that one he kicked
at sixty seven, it hit the crossbar and went through.
So you're thinking that's the point of no return.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Well, it's it's rare probably to mean again, there's a
reason that's never been done before. It's not easy to do.
But it's also a reminder that like that may that
may have been it because think about the kick was
right where it needed to be as far as the
as far as you know, between the pipes, but also
just enough to hit that and then go over and
not go the other way. It just made it seem
it made it seem like we missed out on an

(15:52):
all time man.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Absolutely, dude, you damn Green Bay coach.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
It reminds me of games where somebody has hit a
unbelievable game winning type shot only for it to not
count because of like you know, the review, which again,
you get it right. You want to get it right.
But yeah, Chuckie, Hepburn hit a hit, a a big
time step back three in the ACC tournament against I'm
not sure who it was against, and sure enough he

(16:18):
ended up being called a two. He's on the line.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Yeah, just so they went super zoom in.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
They went to overtime and they ended up winning, and
that was that was all that really mattered. But like
that SHOT's forgotten because if it would have won the game,
it had been it had been a.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Walk on, that's right.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Yeah, Yeah, the Steelers are going to win the division
because everybody else in the division stinks, right.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
And there's no doubt about it. The yes, lamar out
clearly or not. Yeah, they're not gonna make it play
the Aaron Rodgers Redemption Tour.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
I mean, honestly, the Bengal, I mean the collectively everybody
in that division outside of Pittsburgh is awful right now.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
And yeah, I think I actually, for the first time
in a life, feel sorry for Cleveland fans. Yeah, I
get it, first time ever.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Well, then last week they had a game where they
literally played well and should have won and found a
way to lose to the Vikings. And yeah, they.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
They sent maybe the MVP for the year down to Tampa.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yep, they think about this. Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield
were both on the Panthers roster two years ago. And
look at crazy all right, Tony's coming your way.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Next.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Right here on there's radio waight forty whis
