Speaker 1 (00:00):
Warm weather.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
We had to start off the month of October. You're tough,
I guess, because fifty two degrees is what we have currently,
and that's cold enough for me to make sure I
got I got a hood, so I love it. In fact,
last night, took the kids out to dinner and we
sat outside, nice, nice patio dinner, and they had By
the way, my father plays music. He's a musician, and
(00:23):
the old man still getting booked at a honky Tonker two,
so he ended up playing last night and we went
and saw him and had a good dinner. But the
place we went to they had these I've never seen
it before, but it's a slightly covered patio, but they
have like these heat things coming from above. It's almost
like a heat fan, if that makes sense. And I'm
(00:43):
sure I'm doing a terrible job at describing it, or
maybe you know exactly what I'm talking about, and you
know that they're very common.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I just was.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
I was very comfortable knowing that there was a cool breeze,
but that warm, that warm heat coming from above was perfect.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Those are big sellers.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
When I got out in CityU of L High team play,
they used to have those at Iceland that was always
a nice advantage. And then when my son played hockey
for say next week, go down Owensboro. They have a
beautiful ice are in Owensboro, and that's a plus. They
have those what you're talking about. They sit right above
the fans and so you feel the warm. You get
the luxury of enjoying the cool, but you feel the warm,
(01:18):
And those are big sellers for people outside in patios.
Now you can buy those for your like if you're
going out and redoing your patio for the fall. You
know the ones usually see at restaurants.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Yeah, I think isn't isn't I mean again, I think
spring and fall both are good for this, but I
feel like fall is the ultimate season for patio stuff
right on patio and then you know little bonfire action,
little fire pitep and it's here because again, fifty two
degrees is the current temperature here and we've got a
high under seventy degrees, which.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
I believe is a low. Is is below average?
Speaker 2 (01:49):
I should say, so, Yeah, it's not going to get
above seventy degrees today. I think sixty seven or sixty
eight to the high. And if the sun's not shine, and
that of course could end up being a pretty pretty
nipply day, and well, I'm here for it.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
I'll take it, dude.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
When I was out in Shelby Park yesterday, it was
nice because you walk in the sunny part and then
as you'd be under the shade, and then the minute
you walk in the sunny part, you expect this heat
because I walk in the summer too.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Man.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
It wasn't it was anything but and it felt so good.
Just that little twinge of warm with the cold air
was nice.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
My mother and stepfather there in Destin for their for
their annual vacation, and I saw a picture they posted
yesterday and it did. It did give me a slight
moment of thinking, you know what, maybe maybe I'm not
ready for the for the summer to go away. But
then I realized, oh, that's Destin, Florida.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
We're not there.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
We're here, and uh, football, basketball getting ready to get started.
All the good things that come with fall are are here,
and the weather's now with us as well, and that's all.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
That's a good thing.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
You got wine on the river coming up this weekend.
My wife and daughter are going to that and it's
gonna be absolutely beautiful for.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
That event awesome and by the way, if you want
to get tickets, there are still some tickets available. Wine
on the River Louisville again, it's our event here at
iHeart Louisville. It'll be at the Belvidere from two to
six pm. Wine on the Riverloo dot com as the
website again, Wine on the riverlou dot com if you
want to purchase tickets. A great event and Scott mentioned
should have some perfect weather for it.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
So are you set up? Are you a wine drinker?
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Yes, but I have this issue with wine where I
tend to drink it like it's kool aid.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
If by the way.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
I'm not I'm not like a No, I'm not a
wine kind of sewer. I was. I was about to
sound like a poser. I can drink wine, but it's
got to be like the sweet you know, anything room temperature.
Not for me, but like a sweet red wine or
a a a white wine. I'm trying to think of
(03:36):
what it's mescado. Yeah, so that kind of stuff. But
as far as like the real high dollar you know,
cabernet not my thing. But I remember there was a
place in Louisville that is no longer around that used
to have. I think they call it wine down Wednesdays.
And it was early in my in my drinking days
as far as being able to go out and do
(03:57):
it at the age of twenty one. And I remember
remember it was the first time I really experienced wine
being sort of the drink of the night. And I'm like,
this is delicious. I mean beer. I don't know if
I'm gonna be drinking beer anymore, because like, why not
drink wine because it's stronger and it actually tastes good.
And I remember what kind of wine I was drinking.
It was a one that was served cold, cold, and
(04:20):
it was sweet and it tasted like kool aid. Yeah,
And then I realized you shouldn't drink wine at the
lever You're gonna drink a bush light because I had
a wine hangover that to this day has still made
me second guess a second glass of wine anytime, just
because of how bad it was.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
So to your point, I'm a total beer snob and
spend a tremendous amount of pride telling you that. However,
my wife and I discovered that we both are also
wine kind stories. And when you're going back to when
we were talking about dating. That was one of the
first things we came together on and we both like wine.
But it's interesting because we're at opposite ends of the spectrum.
She's like you, she likes the red wine. She likes
(04:59):
a deep red wine at room temperature. I'm I'm a
pinal grigio kind of guy. However, there's like a new
Greek wines that are coming out New Zealand. Sauvignon blancs
are like the big thing that. Not expensive wines, mind you,
but there's just a different taste to them. And it's
funny how when you talk to people and you ask them, hey,
are you a wine person? They had kind of the
answer you had Nick. But then at the same time, goal,
(05:21):
I do like this kind of wine, and it's interesting
to see what drives people's engines when they so.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
If you had Sweet Marcella from Hubers, that kind of
wine is sort of just if I'm gonna drink wine, that's.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
That's that's that's my go to. Look.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
I don't want to act like it's you know, I'm
sure that's considered I don't know if it's considered like
a fancy wine, But again, I don't know much about
like the types. I just know that if it's dry
and it's room temperature, it's not for me.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yeah, But clearly those are some of the more popular ones.
And depending on what kind of wine you're getting there,
it could be I guess where you're getting it from,
can be very very expensive. I am fascinated by the
wine industry as far as how lucrative it can be
and and how little it would cost you to actually.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Make some real money. Oh dude, that means me.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Yeah. I mean in everybot white Snakes got of wine.
And when you were talking about Humbor is my favor.
In fact, we do our annual trip that we're going
in two weeks. Their apple spice is my go to.
And like you, I gotta be careful because fortunately my
kids are old enough to drive now. My son can't drink,
so he drives. But I'll sit up there and they
got the band playing up there, and if it's an
afternoon like what you're talking about out here with the
(06:25):
weather today, dude, I'll have it.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
I'll sit by the way home.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Those bottles start disappearing with weather like we're a little
nice meat, a little good music. That is there is
something about how it just it's one of those things
that I'm not sure who decided to put those things together.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
But a cheese tray with some wine that just works.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Oh, my wife and daughter a big shecurderie board people
every weekend in our house. They got one going.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Good stuff. Yep.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
All right, let's get to a quick time out. We've
got a lot more to get into before we get
out of here. Roy and he'll set to join us
coming up at eight thirty five. We'll talk about the
latest on the government shut down. Also a big piece
of news yesterday that we have discussed a little bit
throughout the morning.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
We'll certainly get to it more with Rory.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
But that is that President Trump says Israel and Hamas
have both signed on to the first phase of a
peace deal, which again that's a substantial update. Is this
has been going on for a couple of years now.
So again, a lot more to get into, So stick
around right here on News Radio eight forty whas.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
So a record was broken.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
I believe it was on on Sunday night when Nate
Bargotzi was I'm sorry Saturday whenever Dave Bargotzi was here
in town at the YM Center because as far as
stand up comedy shows at the YOUM Center, his nineteen
thousand fans.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
That showed up to the sold out show that broke
a record.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
So previously it was fourteen thousan five hundred fans that
showed up to see Shane Gillis that was actually also recently,
but the new record was broke by Nate Bargotzi, who
clearly is really really popular right now. And I'm sure
many of you listening were there and sounds like everybody
had a good time. I will say the one of
the and I'm sure it's just it's it's the algorithm
(07:57):
more than anything. But I feel like when I see
a ton of people that I'm friends with on Facebook,
whether it be people that I'm genuinely friends with or
just people that are that are within my Facebook world
like that. Leading up to it, and of course the
day after, like Saturday, Sunday, Monday, I saw tons of
people initially I guess asking for tickets, and then tons
(08:18):
of pictures on Saturday and Sunday of people sharing their
experience there. So I feel like that's become a good
way for me to kind of truly see a lot
of times they'll tell you what you see on social media,
you know, isn't real. But I could just feel, just
with the social media buzz that that was.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
A big ticket.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
And clearly I'm not even sure what tickets cost, but
that's one thing that when it comes to live entertainment events, concert,
stand up comedy, sporting events that are a big deal,
people will pay. I mean, I'm sure some make the
sacrifice and realize they can't go because they can't afford it.
But as much as we talk legitimately about how expensive
(08:53):
things are and just how the economy is what it is,
when it comes to doing something that you enjoy to
inner retain yourself, that that's something people aren't sacrificing.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
And I get it.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
I mean, I mean, it's it's a big part of
a you know, balancing life, right, finding some time to
get away and just enjoy yourself.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
That's the new We were talking about Christmas gifts a
couple of years ago and that started to be the trend,
and that is experiences. And I've talked with several families,
some good friends of ours, where they tell the kids, well,
don't expect a lot of stuff wrapped under the tree. However,
since you wanted to go to X Y Z place, Disneyland,
a special trip, whatever it is, that's what we're going
(09:32):
to do, and the kids are happier about it. It gives
people something to look forward to experiences. In fact, there
was a trend in vacations and what they call workplace sabbaticals,
whereby instead of taking your standard two weeks of vacation,
you would take three months, take your laptop, take work
with you.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Don't work all.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Three months, but go somewhere if you want to, say
you want to go somewhere exotic, and you could go
down to Bora Bora, take your family, get away for
three then come back. But the employer is happy because
you're still doing work, and then you're happy because you
get away from work. And it's all about the experience,
exactly what you're talking about.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, and when we were talking about you know, by
the way stand up comedy just get just you can
just sit and rather be at your house watching it
on TV, or if you are in attendance, just laughing
at something. I mean that that's a human emotion that
it clearly is is needed and it's healthy. But I
found myself now that when I watched comedy when I
was a lot younger, I would still find it funny,
but like I didn't have enough life experience to like
(10:31):
actually really understand some of it, if.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
That makes sense.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
But now there are comedians that are my age that
are sharing, you know, really situations that I'm really familiar with.
There's a guy by the name not Huge, but his
name is Derek Stroup, and to me, he's like the
first stand up comedian that I feel like he is
and I don't even know, but I feel like he's
right around my age and he's a lot of his
A lot of his bits are about just sort of
life growing up in that time, and the way I
(10:55):
relate to.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
It is is just hilarious.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
This is what I'm a favorite since it about being
a It's about riding the bus when you're growing up.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Because I was a bus rider growing up. I think
that'll help mold who I am today. Some of y'all
were car riders. I know it. When I meet you.
Your hands are soft now, you're not built like a
bus rider. Car riders. Your day started off with a
lunch bowl in a high five. The last thing you
saw was a minivan full of love bus riders. Our
day started off with death threats. If you missed the bus,
(11:25):
don't help me. I'm in there ironing my pants. They're
on me. I'm going on, my goodness, And the bus
was lawless. Back in the day. I grew up way
out in the country. My bus was k through twelve.
The whole school was on one bus. It should not
be that way. We grew up fast man. I was
a third grader sitting next to tenth graders. I was
(11:47):
hearing words. I couldn't comprehend sentences I didn't understand. That's
because the bus was the Internet before the Internet ever existed.
It was Google on wheels. And the further you went
on the back of that bus, the deeper in the
internets you got was the dark way.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
My man, so's he's got one that I just hadn't
thought about ever, really, but it's so true about you know,
kids now will never experience the fear of when you
get a girl's number in like middle school, and you
call and you hope her dad doesn't answer. And you know,
he shared a story about one of the guys. He
(12:26):
mentioned that he called and the dad answered, and you know,
he was you know, I was gonna what would you
like to speak to her about? I was gonna ask
her a question about our math homework. Oh, it turns
out I'm an expert of math. What do you got
for me? Like the dads would just mess with you
because they knew that you were that nervous.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
I love when he pops up in my TikTok.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
I'm glad.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
I'm glad to know you to who he is because
a lot of people I know don't aren't familiar with that.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
That's how I found him, and the other one I
found too and quick because I know we got to
get out of here. Gary Owen, Oh yeah, And I
relate to him because he was in the Navy. Now
you gotta be careful. You got to watch some of
the language in it. But he cracks me up every time.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
He seems very genuine, right, Like he's somebody that like, yes,
I can see him, and I don't think this is
his story, but like somebody who would just hold court
making his friends laugh hilariously. And then he just became
an awesome stand up comic.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
He's great.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
He does a bit on that sitting in the waffle house.
It's thread in the morning. Look it up on TikTok.
Gary O's to.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Check that out.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
All right, all right, let's get to a trafficking weather update. Also,
we've got a sports update. Come on your way right
here on news Radio eight forty whas
