Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know one thing, the only thing really that is
consistent in life is time. But it doesn't feel that way.
And I think this week has been up to this point,
the fastest week, maybe ever in my life. That's probably
an exaggeration, but that's what it feels like. But I
said that, and then the company man, John Alden says
he disagrees, which makes me feel bad now because you
know again, but you know why it'll be different.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
It's because I have a vacation coming up. Before vacation
always drags that checks out. That check said, oh yeah,
it's going to go buy really slow because you're ready
to get out of here. I get it, Scott. You
feel like it's been a fast week.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
My dreaming, it has no you're reading my mind. I
just told my wife that last night. I said, I
cannot believe tomorrow's Thursday already.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
I mean, I'm excited. Yeah, but yeah, it's gone by
really fast today.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
John, where are you going by? So I'm not going anywhere,
but I'm taking a week off makes a vacation.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yes, well, enjoy the downtime. My friend will miss you.
But you certainly deserve, yes, some time off. But it
is Kentucky and this Morning News with Coffee and Company
here on News Radio eight forty w h a S.
The crew is here, Nick Coffee, That's me, Scott Fitzgerald,
John all On alongside John Shannon.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
He'll be in the mix as well. This morning.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
We'll get your first newscast coming up around five thirty.
And you know the drill, traffic, weather, the things you
come to expect, you will get that here this morning.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
And we got a lot we'll get into.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
But I will say when it comes to uh, I
have a worry this morning that I'm gonna this will
be something I think worth following up on tomorrow. So fellas,
do you know what a porch pirate is? I do, Okay,
So I'm worried that I'm going to end up at
some point today opening up my Facebook page and looking
(01:32):
at my old neighborhood group, which I never left because
it's entertaining. There's drama there and it's just fascinating to me.
And I made a mistake last week. I ordered something
on eBay for the first time in a long time,
and I hadn't been on eBay in forever. I never
changed my address, so sure enough I'm seeing these notifications
(01:53):
earlier this week that things have been delivered, and I'm like, well, no,
they haven't. And then I go and look and it's
my old address. Now, luckily, I know the person who
bought my house. He still lives there. Him and his
family are there, and we have mutual friends. So I'm thinking, Okay,
I'm lucky. Well, I ended up when I went to
message him, I'd seen that he'd already messaged me let
me know that, Hey, this is yours, and this is
(02:15):
the first time that's happened. But it's been a long time,
and I purchased something that you know, I just I
was hoping that he had it, hoping he didn't move
and I didn't know about it. So anyways, he's been great.
The issue is that this is going to be like
a four different package delivery kind of thing over like
a week's time. And he's super cool about it, and
he's telling me, Hey, one of them's here. It's on
the porch. But this morning, at you know, middle of
(02:35):
the night, I just get out of my car in
the middle of my street where I used to live,
and run up on the porch and grab boxes. And
I could just see because this has happened. That's one
of the reasons why I stayed in this Facebook group
is because every now and then somebody will post their
ring door footage of somebody that's walking around trying to
get into cars, and it's good to, you know, alert
neighbors of what's going on. And sometimes there's legitimately good
(02:56):
evidence as far as who's out there doing what. But
there's no doubt in my mind that if motion sensor
went off and somebody's camera was rolling, I look as
if I just pulled off a hist on the porch.
So hopefully if that happens, he will jump in to
defend me. But you know, depending upon, you know, depending
(03:16):
upon how clear the camera footage is. I mean, I'm
gonna look, I could potentially look as if I'm a thief,
and the only way I could defend myself is for
him to explain the situation and back me up here.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
But wouldn't that be a bad look.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
No, you don't want to be the guy that people
are saying, Hey, keep an eye out of this scumbag.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
He's stealing stuff.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
You should put a signer on your neck saying I've
been cleared, or words to that effect.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yeah, something to just let people know, like, hey, I
know what it looked like. Hear me out.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
It's kind of like when people leave their pets in
their car and they're like, the air is running, my
pet is fine, I'll be right.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Back where a sign of run something. I'm legit called
this guy.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
You know how things spread on the internet, like before
I could even see it. Before maybe he could address it.
It could have taken off. Hey that's Nick Coffee that
we know who that guy, he's a bum.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
And then the media is going to be what are
they paying you?
Speaker 1 (04:04):
You got to steal people's packages off their front porch pages?
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Are these just so?
Speaker 1 (04:09):
One of them was was shoes, So it was a
box with a shoe box in it, so it's decent size.
And that's the one I grabbed this morning. And because
I am I was just in a hurry and I
kind of I didn't really have to go out of
my way to go there, but it was it was
an added stop. So my quickness me leaving the car running,
stopping in the middle of the street, grabbing the package
and running away like there's no scenario. The visual will
(04:32):
not look as if I just was out there stealing
packages which that's I mean, I I think a lot
of people probably end up getting caught. Maybe I'm wrong,
Maybe that's just me thinking that people end up getting
what they're what they deserve.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
But I mean, this day and age, I wouldn't.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
I would just expect there to be five cameras on
me if I'm in somebody's.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Yard, right right, well, especially if somebody picked somebody, and
you know how these things go in these neighborhood groups.
That's why I got out of mind, oh man, because
it was every little dtail.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I can't turn away. It's a car wreck.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
And I mean the best part is like Sally down
the street, like, hey, me and George enjoyed.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
The evening tonight.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Yeah, and that's it, Like it's kind of said because
she clearly has no way of communicating. And then of course, man,
when COVID was going on, everybody was sure in their
thoughts about it.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
There was a real battle.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Oh one time, I'm backing up why I can't leave
this group, Scott. There was the the h o AA
president got taken out. They overthrew him, they had to
get rid of him, and the new person came in
and kicked him out of the Facebook group, the old President.
It's there's high stakes drama, and I may be a
part of that because I can just see these people
pouncing on We're gonna hold, We're gonna make sure this
(05:39):
guy pays for stealing.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
So we'll see how it plays out.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
But I just once I got on sixty five, I thought,
you know what that there's no way this is gonna
work out.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
Well.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Now, everybody who knows you, who knows that neighborhood group,
is going to head it out that site now and
take a look.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
One of those moments where I feel like my life
is a Seinfeld episode.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
That's kind of what it is.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
All Right, let's let's get a check at trafficing weather,
and of course we'll keep this thing rolling along. Scott'll
be back in with Sports in about fifteen minutes or so.
And last night's Espie's I will not claim that I
watched the SP's really at all, other than the Shane
Gillis clips. And I think last night may have been
a breakthrough moment for comedy at the.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
SP's of all places. We'll get to that. And the
kid with measles, he was out and about before he.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Knew he had measles, so we got to tell you
where you need to know if you were near him,
what you got to do. Stick with us right here
Kentucky and his Morning News. It is five seventeen here
at Kentucky and His Morning News with Coffee and Company
on News Radio eight forty wha snick coffee with.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
You, John all on alongside.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
So last night was the SP's, which means today is
I believe the slowest official day on the sports calendar, which,
by the way, I think it's today. Yeah, the Dogs
did something long ago. When I say the Dogs, I
mean the Afternoon Underdogs, one of the probably the longest
stand show in sports radio in this market. But they
(07:03):
did something every year on this day called a Hate Day.
It was Tony Venetti and Adam Neft initially, then it
became Tony Venetti and Dave Jennings. And this year today
at nine o'clock, it's gonna be Hate Day with Tony
and Dwight.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
So if you want to.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Let them know something you hate and you want to
express why you really hate it, you're gonna have the
chance to do that today. So check that out. But anyways,
last night was the sb's and I didn't watch. I
can't tell you any award that was won, not a
one I didn't pay attention, but it was hard not
to see all of the clips of Shane Gillis, who
I think is right now one of the bigger up
and comers in comedy, which that's probably not even the
(07:40):
right way to describe it, because he's arrived. I mean,
he's got his own Netflix series that is two seasons in.
He's his comedy stand up towards phenomenal, So he's arrived.
He's not an up and comer, but I feel like
right now, when it comes to Cariment momentum, he's certainly
up there. I find him to be hilarious, and I
think it was clear that him hosting the SP's there
was going to be some level of intrigue based off
(08:02):
the fact that you know, he's going to probably cross
a line, toe a line, and he certainly did that.
But I feel like last night, and maybe I'm wrong,
and I'm just not looking in the right places, and
maybe I'm just early here, but I could feel this
over the last i don't know, half a year or so,
and it certainly stood out last night. Just looking at
(08:24):
most of the reaction on social media, and really it
became becoming a talking point. I think we have fatigue
as a society when it comes to trying to manufacture
anger about something that genuinely does not bring us any anger.
And that's not to say that jokes aren't offensive and
people don't cross the line that happens. I just and
(08:45):
maybe I'm in my own bubble. There are certain things
that I understand why it becomes controversial. I understand why
it becomes a you know, an ordeal, But I just
I would be a liar to say that certain things
genuinely consume.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Me to a point where I'm all right, I'm mad now.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
I think at some point people just decided they were
going to be mad if everybody else was, they were
just gonna follow in line. And let me give an
example when it comes to the current Epstein situation, that
of course is a is a serious thing, and that
is that's not just nothing. So I don't want to
act like maybe maybe that's maybe that's the wrong example,
but just think about all the people that are that
(09:27):
are yelling about the whole Epstein thing and the conspiracy
and we want transparency. They're covering up for somebody.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
And again I don't.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
I don't think that that's that's a that's the wrong
opinion to have. But I just think a lot of
people it's not a genuine emotion for them. They're just
they're just joining in with the mob of being mad
about things. And when it comes to Shane Gillis last night,
I thought some of the things he said, if it
has said it for three four years ago, it would
have been he's canceled, he'll never be on TV give
(09:56):
which I'm pretty sure he survived being canceled and has
has arrived once a but we'll let you hear some
of his jokes I thought. I mean, he had a
UFC event at the White House joke, which, of course
that's something Trump is putting in the motion. Also had
a line about Caitlin Clark that again, I'm sure people
will say that it was distasteful, but that's what comedy
used to be. It used to be to where, yeah,
(10:18):
of course they're comedians. They're gonna toe that line. They're
gonna maybe say something that might make you swirm a
little bit because you're thinking, oh my goodness, wow, But
it's comedy.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
It's meant to be funny.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
It's not real, it's entertainment, and at some point, you know,
the line was blurred or the line just didn't exist anymore.
And maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but I think
last night might have been because.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Again Disney put this on.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Disney owns ESPN, and if they're going to have Shane
Gillis there, they know what they're signing up for. And
he made some good jokes. I'm sure certain people were offended,
but in the end, it's comedy. And again we'll let
you hear some of those throughout the morning.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Here.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
I'm actually gonna be out a little bit earlier today.
I'm a part timer today because I gotta get out
of here for an appointment. But you're in good hands.
Scott Fitzgerald, John Olden, John Shannon. I may get Wally pipped.
I may not even be brought back. We'll see. All
let's get an update on traving you weather.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Thank you very much. John Shannon.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
That's John Shannon, by the way, with that phenomenal newscast
you just heard there.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
He's part of our crew. It's Coffee and Company.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
I'm Nick Coffee, John Alden alongside Scott Fitzgerald. He'll be
back with sports coming up in about fifteen minutes or so,
actually closer to twenty minutes, I can't count. But thank
you guys for joining us here on a Thursday. Take
us with you wherever you go. You can listen live
on the iHeartRadio app. Also listen live at whas dot com.
We'll talk to Rory O'Neil coming up here in about
(11:41):
ten minutes. Always enjoy our conversations with Rory, and a
couple things we will discuss with him is one the
Voice of the people. A new poll is out on
America and really just the attitude of Americans when it
comes to Trump and how he's handled Epstein, the Big
beautif will bill, those kind of things. So, you know,
(12:02):
you never really know what to how much to put
into these these surveys that come out, but it's at
least some level of a reference point. And what I'm
curious about is how recent is this, because man, the
last few days, as far as just the Epstein situation,
I'm sure it's it's exaggerated by just what I see
on social media, those that are just loud about it.
(12:23):
But certainly I am now more interested in something like
this than I ever have been, just more so because
I don't see a scenario where you can look at
anything that has been transparent to us, which isn't much,
and not assume that they're leaving something out. This is
this just doesn't add up. But as of right now,
(12:44):
I don't feel like we're going to get any anything different.
And let's be real, if Trump and his team they
just want to handle this the way they're handling it
right now, moving forward, it'll die down and and nothing
will be done. I mean, that's that's most likely what
will happen. I could be wrong, clearly, but I mean
I don't think Trump is going to cave as far
(13:07):
as just saying, okay, all right, well you're right, let's
provide transparency because he's claiming that it was all a hoax.
But I'm telling you, if it was a hoax and
this was if this was just all made up by
Biden and Obama, like Trump has said, wouldn't they have
(13:28):
led with that during the election. Wouldn't they have made
that really the core of their argument as to why
you should vote with them and not Trump. Now someoneuld say, well, yeah,
but they didn't want it out either, because they're involved too.
And look, maybe there's some truth to that.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
I'm willing good man.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
I have no clue about anything when it comes to
the Epstein situation. What's being covered up this and that. However,
what is out there is just not adding up.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
All right, real quick.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
The SP's last night, Shane Gillis. There are five clips
I have here of jokes that he made, and I
don't think we have anybody that's going to be deeply
offended by certain things. But I also don't really know that,
so I'm gonna play some that I don't think are
gona mean. In fact, I could play all these and
wouldn't get me in trouble by any means. But if
you just joined us last night, I feel like Shane
Gillis was able to push the envelope cross the line slightly,
(14:23):
but then come right back over the line. And I
don't think that this type of comedy last night from
Shane Gillis at the SP's would have been possible just
a few years ago one, because he's already had issues
that led to him getting quote unquote canceled. They pulled
him from SNL because of something he'd said previously, and
(14:44):
of course he was able to ride that out and
now he's probably one of the most popular comedians in
the world right now. So I'm not saying that the
offensive jokes that he said things that might have been
offensive to others. Yeah, we need more of let's just
push the envelope and live on the edge and not
worry if anybody's offended. That's not at all my takeaway here,
(15:07):
But it's comedy. And I just think we as a
society have developed some fatigue for knowing what we're supposed
to be outraged about. And that's not to say that
that certain people aren't bothered, and certain things may offend
others because it may be something that legitimately is in
regard to them and their their situation. But the amount
(15:29):
of people out here over the years that just fall
in line with all right, yeah you're mad, I'm mad too,
Like I just I can't lie and say that.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Let me give you an example.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Did I agree with the fact that we had people
kneeling for the anthem?
Speaker 2 (15:43):
No not at all.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
But am I gonna Am I gonna act like I
was literally living every day of my life thinking oh,
I can't believe they're doing that. All right, let me
play this real quick and then we'll get to the
traffick and weather.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
This was this was.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
The the joke about the UFC event that's apparently coming
to the White House that that Trump wants to put on.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
And this was just funny.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
I mean, but again, I'm sure certain people will be
offended or just.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Say, hey, you can talk about Trump like that.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Joe Rogan actually wanted me to be here to host
this award show so that I could capture Adam Silver
because Joe thinks he's an alien, and Donald Trump wanted
me to be here.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
That's the wrong one. Never mind, Here it is. I
promise you this is better. And again I say more
of them than I anticipated, and I added some new
to the mix. That one was when I didn't want to.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Here we go. This is it.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
Sorry, Donald Trump wants to stage a UFC fight on
the White House lawn. The last time he staged a
fight in DC. Mike Pence almost died. You don't have
to do that. Who's fine. I didn't write it. Actually,
there was supposed to be an Epstein joke here, but
(16:50):
as it got deleted, must have probably deleted itself, right,
probably never existed. Actually, let's move on a country and
ignore that that's topical.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
It's it's fun I mean, I think it's funny.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Again, your level what you think is funny when I
think it is funny could totally be different.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
But I do like that. He was he was going
to be himself, but he.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Was throwing a little bit of a of a disguise up,
clearly making a joke that if anybody's bothered, he didn't
write it.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Somebody else wrote it. So I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
I thought, again, that's like, that's not anybody who takes
that serious and is offended and bothered by it.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
You do you?
Speaker 1 (17:28):
I just I can't relate, and I think I think
I'm in the majority, but maybe I'm wrong.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
This is going to turn into I'm pro being offensive,
which I'm not. But people hear what they want to hear.
I want to hear Rory O'Neill, and he's with us
next right here at Kentucky and his Morning News. Thanks
for hanging out this with us this morning at is
Kentucky and his Morning News on News Radio eight forty
whas Nick Coffee here and I've got Rory O'Neill joining
(17:55):
me here on a Thursday morning. Rory I'll start with
the latest stuff dat as far as how Americans feel
about Donald Trump. There's a lot of things in motion here,
as far as just the handling of immigration, the Big
Beautiful Bill, the Epstein Files. What's the temperature currently of Americans.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
Yeah, there's a lot going on. In the latest Quinnipiac poll,
and as we've discussed the last time, these poles are
great to watch because they come out every month and
you can follow trends, but they also ask these snapshot
questions about the headlines of the day, and in this
case it's the Epstein Files. Only seventeen percent of voters
say they approve of the way the administration is handling
(18:35):
the Epstein Files. Sixty three percent disapprove. Even Republicans are split.
Forty percent approved of the way the president is handling
the Jeffrey Epstein Files, thirty six percent disapproved, twenty four
percent of Republicans have no opinion. So even among Republicans,
the decision to seal up the case is not popular.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
Yeah, and I find myself more I guess, just fascinated
with the continued It's nothing, it's a hoax. It was
created by by the left, and I can't tell if
that's truly what he believes or if it's just don't.
I'm fascinated on my side, Rory, just kind of just
seeing Donald Trump not be able to read the room
(19:18):
with his own supporters, which I feel like maybe that's
happened before, but this seems more glaring.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
Well, right, and also because there's so much tape out there. Yes, right,
there's so many clips of them. Either it's the Attorney
General with her phase one release of three ring binders
of information we already had, but it said phase one,
So assuming there's a phase two out there, and it's
all the previous comments by the AG, by Cash Ptel,
(19:45):
the FBI director, by his number two man, Dan Bongino,
all these other Republicans and MAGA movement supporters all have
been behind this, and they're the people that President Trump
appointed to these high level positions. You know, Dan Bongino's
position about the Epstein files is certainly no secret. So
(20:05):
it was the President who made them the number two
guy at the FBI, and I can say the same
thing about Cash Pattel, so you know, he put in
his administration people who were rapidly in favor of releasing
the Epstein information, so to suddenly blunt this is the
big one.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Eighty, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
And I think even if you were somebody that wasn't
looking for any specific outcome here, you're just observing what what.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
We know, not what we think.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
I mean, at minimum, you could just say, well, something's
not making sense there, something's not adding up, which that
leads to just more fuel for those that want to
speculate that it's a cover up and there's some level
of conspiracy. But roryan Neil is our guest joining us
here on news Radio eight forty whas So, when it
comes to the border, most immigration headlines are focusing on deportations,
and you know there's also news from the border here.
What's the latest on on the crackdowns in places like California, Arizona,
(20:54):
New Mexico, in Texas.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
Yeah, the numbers are fantastic for the administration. But let
me first go stay with the pole and the Quidipiac
poll also asked about immigration. So it's interesting here when
it comes to the way Customs and Enforcement is enforcing
immigration laws. Thirty nine percent of voters approve of the
way ICE is doing its job, fifty seven percent disapprove,
(21:19):
and voters sixty four to thirty opposed the idea of
the US deporting migrants to third countries. You know, if
they came in from Mexico and we're deporting them to
El Salvador, something like that. That's not popular among Americans.
But the numbers at the border are certainly improving. The
latest update from Customs and Border Protection finds that illegal
(21:39):
crossings have fallen to their lowest point in decades. In June,
the numbers dropped to the lowest level ever recorded, and
actually on June twenty eighth, there were one hundred and
thirty six apprehensions by Customs and Border Protection, a minuscule
amount compared to the tens of thousands who were crossing
(21:59):
Speaker 1 (22:00):
So yeah, I think what you said initially is the
big takeaway is that these numbers, this, this the data
so far says that what they wanted to do, meaning
Trump and his administration, it's it's working right right.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
So we're seeing low border crossings, which Americans approve of,
But at the same time, they don't like some of
these deportation policies. They don't like the way that people
are being you know, rounded up outside the home depot,
and this idea of then sending them to a place
like Al Salvador when they come from Mexico, that doesn't
seem or you know, the facilities like Alligator Alcatraz maybe
(22:35):
not too popular.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Yep, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Rory has always appreciate the time, enjoyed the conversation, just
like I do every single day. You enjoy the rest
of your day, and we'll talk soon, my friend.
Speaker 5 (22:43):
Thanks Nick Tark, to you tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
All right, that's Rory and Neil of NBC News.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
You know that the takeaway from from the survey tells

can't prove it not a fact, But the truth usually
lies in the middle.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
I think there are people that are aware that we
have a real.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Issue here in this country with people coming in here
legally and not contributing to society at all and in
fact being a damage to the country. But you know
the way in which they've gone about it, I'm not
surprised to hear that there's some that maybe don't agree
with the method. And you know, Alligator Alcatraz, that whole thing.
So again, both things can be true. We got to
(23:21):
get this in order. As far as the immigrant, you know,
people coming into this country illegally, but also you know,
maybe just let's not be so aggressive about it.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
All right, we've got
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Sports coming your way here in just a few minutes,
but first let's get another update on traffic and weather.
