Speaker 1 (00:00):
The events say it happened during the scripted part of
the show, but the violence went way too far. In
an ex post rampage, Jackson says he does not condone
his son's actions. I'm Daniel Martindale, more of the of
Coffee and Company, bringing you Kentuckiano's Morning News comes up
right now. Your next newscast coming up at eight thirty.
I'm John Shannon, News Radio eight forty whas eight oh five.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Here at news Radio eight forty whas Coffee and Company
with you here Kentucky in his morning News. I'm Nick Coffee.
You just heard John Shannon and of course Scott Fitzgerald
alongside today. John A'll to be back with us next week.
Certainly looking forward to that, and I'm also looking forward
to the weather that we have here, because if you
have not heard, it is going to be uncharacteristically wonderful
(00:47):
this for this time of year. And again, everybody, I
guess has their own preference in what they like and
prefer when it comes to weather. But I'll tell you
I'm not somebody that enjoys heat, humidity, and the last
month of August is typically a very or week from
what I remember, and we've got. I guess historically the
average temperature the last month of the last week of August,
(01:08):
I should say, is eighty eight degrees and we're not
going to be above eighty degrees it looks like from
now until maybe maybe early next week, which has me very,
very excited. So I mean, I'm just thinking about being
able to enjoy being and always related to just you
know me, my life, my situation. My kids love being outside,
(01:28):
and they are tougher than me when it comes to
They don't care if it's one hundred degrees and it's humid.
They want to play outside, and sometimes I fight through it.
Sometimes I try to find ways to keep them entertained inside.
But this week is where, like they I can't give
them the excuse, oh it's too hot. No, it's going
to beautiful outside. So I'm sure I'll be spending a
lot of evenings taking advantage of the time we still
(01:48):
have left where it is daylight past you know, six pm.
But man, the temperature is going to be awesome, and
in fact, they're going to be rather cool. I mean,
you may need to throw a hoodie or a jacket
or a pullover on of some sort when we get
to the evenings in the early mornings, because that's just
the uh, that's the type of temperatures we are looking
at well, and.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
You'll be happy to know, Nick, the eighteen eight of
fourteen day outlook also has below normal temperatures as well.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
So whenever, whenever we get this stretch, I mean, don't
come back then, if you're gonna be gone this long
heat and humidity, just leave us for good and give
us and give us the fall weather. That's what we want.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
That's exactly right. And it looks like if you are
looking a little bit ahead to the seasonal temperatures, and
National Weather Service said this winter up through December could
be slightly above normal, which I don't think you'll get
a lot of complaints from people just because we were
not seeing those frigid temperatures. Do you remember the polar
vortext when it wrong? Oh yeah, I mean our house.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Was popping, and I just remember hearing that name thing
and that's such a cool name, polar bortex. That sounds
I mean, yeah, it wasn't awesome, but yeah, and it
was memorable for two things. One just because of the
conditions that it brought, but also also the name and
speaking of just colder than usual temperatures, Wednesday morning could
get as low as fifty two, which would break a
(03:03):
record because in nineteen forty six the record low was
fifty one degrees. So that's what we're looking at. And
I am certainly not complaining Mother Nature. She's gonna be
here for us. It sounds like to take advantage of
a great opening weekend for college football fans, especially around here. Obviously,
college football did have it's official start Week zero did
(03:23):
take place over the weekend. But this weekend you've got
Louisville fans, I'm sure that are excited to get out
to Llen N. Cardinal Stadium, Kentucky fans excited to get
out to Kroger Field tailgate get the season started. And
it's always preferable whenever you can do that, and the
temperatures in the weather is on your side. And when
it comes to college football, if you have yet to
dabble in wagering and gambling on sports in general, especially
(03:45):
college football, I'm telling you there's no better time to
get started than right now because college football is back.

just a way for you to give it. Give it

realize that it does enhance the entertainment experience that is
watching sports because when you've got some skin in the game,
it's just more fun. Right when your team's playing the
Cards of the Cats, you've already made a wager, right,
You've invested a lot of energy in emotion because you're
a fan. If you if your team wins, it feels
(04:28):

much we care. But think about having something on the
line to where other games you now have rooting interest

So we're going to try to finish strong here. We've
got another update of Traffick and Weather coming your way. Also,
Scott's back with another sports update coming up around eight
twenty five. But what I want to get to before
too long is an interesting look at things that people
(05:31):
were able to do where they automated processes and it
completely changed their life. That's probably an exaggeration, but just
little things you could do utilizing AI and technology that
is available to all of us, and it could definitely
trim a lot of time out of certain things that
you do. I just find it fascinating because again we're
learning every day how yes, AI is scary. Are we
(05:53):
all going to be robots one day? Maybe? Only time
will tell. But there's also some ways which you can
utilize it in your everyday life and make things a
lot easier for you. So we'll get to that in
a lot more. Again, it's Kentucky and it's morning News,
Coffee and company with you here on news Radio eight
forty whas. So this all started on TikTok, where a
woman asked her followers to share the most unhinged automation hacks.
(06:17):
And some of these I don't even understand how you'd
be able to do it, but good for you for
figuring it out. So someone has somehow made it to
where the dishwasher in their home can automate a text message.
And when the dishwasher is I guess complete and needs
to be emptied, the cycle is over. There's a text
(06:37):
message that goes out to their kids, and it also
shuts off their Wi Fi until they empty the dishwasher.
I mean, to me, that's I'm sure you're utilizing some
level of artificial intelligence, but I that to me is
a little bit that's in depth like that, that's probably
not something many could just figure out. But hey, maybe
I'm wrong again. Technology in AI is a powerful thing
(07:00):
that is advancing every day. This one is not even techno.
This isn't even tech related. This is just this is
just being savvy and a good idea that I should
have thought of. Somebody bought twelve pairs of the exact
same socks so they never have to worry about matching them,
right that that makes it easy to mate your socks,
which that's the worst part of laundry, I think, is
(07:20):
just putting the socks together. This one says they've got
an alarm, or that says, my alarm stops only if
I scan a QR code in my bathroom. So my
guess is that yeah, And they go on to say
that this makes them get out of bed to turn
an alarm off, and once they're out of bed, they
don't hit the snooze button because they're already up. I
mean old school, you can just you know, put your alarm,
(07:41):
put put your you know, I guess that's true. If
you just put your phone on the other side of
the room, it's the same kind of thing. But maybe
maybe this person realizes I got to be in the bathroom,
you know, that close to turning on the shower, to
where I realize, Okay, now I'm up. I'm not gonna go,
but I'm not gonna go back to bed. Let me
see if there's some others here that this is. I
made an Apple shortcut that runs once a day automatically
(08:04):
that shows me all the photos I took on that
day throughout the years. It allows me slowly to clean
up all old photos but also keep old photos that
I would want. Yeah, I mean my phone does that too.
It just it just if you pull up your photos
app on your iPhone, it'll it'll show you pictures that
you took on that day previously. Yeah. This one, okay,
this one is uh, this one's good. They had an
air tag in their cars so they never have to
(08:26):
remember where they parked. That's I I don't go. I
don't go places often to where I could lose my car.
But I tell you what, going to the fair a
few times last week, there were there were times on
I guess it was yeah, the first day we went
last Monday. I mean we ended up finding it. It wasn't
like we were just roaming around the parking lot for hours.
But it would have been nice to just pull out
my iPhone and know that there's an air tag in
(08:48):
my vehicle that'll tell me exactly exactly where it is.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Sometimes I think sometimes on my iPhone, it'll go, your
parked car is here. It doesn't at random.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
It's weird. I wish I had.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
I don't know what ability to do that you have
to use it.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
I can't figure it out.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
It's just it doesn't. It rans some days it doesn't.
Some days it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
And this one is this says they've got smart lights
and they have Celtic music that can make dishwashing feel
like they're closing, like it's closing time at a Scottish pub.
Like that's just that's just creativity and clearly something that
one individual. I'm sure they're not alone, but like they
know they're looking for a specific mood, right, and they
found a way to use smart lights and music that
(09:29):
makes it feel as if it who knows, maybe maybe
that takes them back to a time where they worked
at a Scottish pub or something, or they were spending
nights there. So yeah, really, more than anything, I feel
like this is just creativity finding ways to utilize tools
that we have that can, you know, do a lot
of different things, can manipulate the mind.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
To your point, I don't think. I think AI is
gonna devise itself in a way that it can be
used effectively. Will learn to work with AI. It is
going to make our lives a lot easier and a
lot better in the long run, just like a lot
of things do. I think. Right now, it's just all new,
and it kind of scares everybody. It doesn't help that
we were dropping headlines left and right for the last
three years that AI is taking everybody's job. I think,
(10:07):
I think we're going to learn to work with it.
It's what's going to happen well.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
And I feel like the there's all kinds of examples
right now that I'm seeing people share of AI telling
them information that is incorrect, or AI chat GBT not
just just not working the way that it typically does,
and that you know, that's that's gonna happen. But also
like if you use it to just simply pay something
in there and see what it gives you. Yeah, you're
gonna have some times where it's not effective. But if
(10:32):
you really work within like one chat GBT window and
you've asked a question and you're you're having dialogue, you're
going back and forth, when you get to the end
of that experience, it'll be you know, you'll realize truly
the value of what it of what it can do.
And uh, you know, to me, I look at it
as an added resource to really help with with certain
(10:53):
things that you know, we're gonna we're gonna still need
the human element to do right. It's gonna be something
that individuals do, not robots. But CHATGBD can can be
a resource to where you can either do that more
effectively or maybe you do it better. I mean that's
the way I now see it. But again I understand
all to what you said, Scott. I mean, people are
fearful that if there's more people embracing this, the more
potential it takes over certain jobs. And that may happen,
(11:15):
but regardless, I'm going to take advantage of what it
can do for as of now, because it's pretty awesome
if you really know how to use it to something
that can help you.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Amen.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
All right, we've got trackicking weather updates on the way.
Also another sports update coming up, and we'll talk to
Rory and El of NBC News coming up at eight
thirty right here on News Radio eight forty whas
