Speaker 1 (00:00):
Of the not good milk? Are you? Are you brave
enough to give it another go? And I'm not picking
on JCPS here. It's probably something that was out of
their control. And I mean it was the supplier's fault.
I don't really know how it could be their fault.
Maybe they should have been a little more mindful and
maybe they could have monitored what kind of milk they
were given out. But it sounds like even the milk that,
you know, everything before you opened it and took a drink,
(00:23):
looked like it was gonna you know, it was. It
was drinkable. But I'm telling you just the thoughts that
are ever drinking milk again. And i'd say that as
somebody who I don't remember the last time I actually
just poured myself a glass of milk. And I'm not
anti milk. It's just not something that I that I
crave at any point. And I don't eat cereal, so
it's good for you. And I'm sure if somebody offered
me a glass of milk and I consumed it, I
(00:46):
would enjoy it. It's just not something I ever think about,
which Scott and I were talking about that this morning.
I'm not breaking news here right, I'm not telling you
anything that you probably don't already know, so I don't
want to present it as if you guys got to
check this out. There's this thing called hydration, and when
you do it, man, it's a game changer. But that
is kind of how I feel because now I've I've
made an effort to try to have a couple, sometimes
(01:08):
maybe three bottles of water before we get to like
eight o'clock in the morning, and that it gives me,
I guess, a base level of hydration. And I'm not exaggerating.
I feel like it completely changes my day by just
being hydrated.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Hydration is key, bro.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
That's why if you go to the store and you
take a look at some of the energy supplements you
can put in your water, why hydration is prominently featured
right next to it. My daughter uses those, and I
told you off the air. First thing I do when
I wake up in the morning is I chucked thirty
two ounces of water. And it's a must, it's a necessity.
It's before my coffee. It makes all the difference, Bro.
(01:46):
It is so good for you.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
You think they're going to be talking about that throughout
Kentucky Anda today this guy Nick Coffee, He's talking about
this thing called hydration as if like everybody else, like, yeah,
it's pretty obvious. When you're dehydrated, you become lethargic, there's
fatigue that sets in, you don't feel as good. And
anytime I feel off in any way, I just need
to remind myself, Hey, maybe if you hydrate then you'll
(02:07):
be better. And that's probably going to be I mean,
I know when I think hydrating because I don't feel well,
I think of a hangover.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
To be honest with you, it is, Well, that's what's happened.
You're dehydrated. Your entire body is dehydrated. And I mean
the benefits and the thing I love when you're talking
about this. And if Kelly Daring Smith is still listening
to us, she's amazing because anytime we talk about hydration
in water, she's right there to raise her hand. Of course,
she works for the low of a water company and
it's been long said. One of the first things my
(02:34):
wife told me when I moved here, She goes, we
have the best tasting water in the country, and I
was like, it's water, how is it? And believe it
or not? I after living here and I travel elsewhere.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
We do have the bad and you don't know it
until you taste water elsewhere. And it's two things. One
because they wish they could, they could have the water
that we have, and they know it too, by the way,
and also my whole life. I've lived here my entire life.
I'm thirty seven years old, and I'd never true and
I it was impossible for me, I think, to take
it for granted until I traveled because I can go
(03:05):
and get tap water and it's I mean, it's it's
I mean, I would to me it tastes as good
as any water you can give me. Sure, Yeah, have
you ever had what is it? I can't think of
what it's called alkaline water, So I don't know if
I truly notice a difference in like hydration levels when
I drink that, or if it's just me thinking, oh,
I'm on the alkalin water, I've got like the pH
(03:26):
or whatever. They got different levels to it. But it
is so I have I deal with gout and I
haven't had any kind of an issue in quite some time,
but when it comes to hydrating, that is key for
a flare up when you have that. But alkaline water
is apparently the water that can help you. I guess
battle that a little bit better. So I've had the
alkalin water and they've got all you know, there's all
this stuff on the side of the bottle that gives you.
(03:48):
I guess the reasons as to why you're hydrating better
with that than anything else. But I also don't really
know if, like you know, I'm sure it's it's not
completely fake. It's just when I tell myself, oh wow,
yeah this this this specific water really got me going.
I don't know if it's just my mind telling me
that or not.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Yeah, it could be a buzzy. I mean, it just depends.
You'd have to talk to it, like we tell everybody
in the show, talk to your doctor. But the important
thing is Nick, what you were saying. It's easy. It's
low hanging fruit for most in media to tell you
when the temperatures get as high as they were.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Hey, make sure you hydrate. Make sure you're hydrating.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
This is why I'm tipping my hat to you, because
here we are in some of the best weather we've
seen all year. Nobody's thinking about hydrating, but there you're
talking about it, and it is so important, especially believe
it or not, the winter time when the air is
so dry, And I'm glad you brought that up because
it's a great way for people to start their day.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
This is so many people get dehydrated in the winter
and don't know it because the signs aren't necessarily the same.
It's not a you know, you just don't. It's really
unless you unless you truly had somebody check you, really,
you really wouldn't know. And also I don't do this,
I should, but just eating fruit can go a long
way with hydration. Fruit of course is healthy and good
for you, but also there's a lot of hydration value
(04:56):
there that you would never expect. I think if you
consider some of the fruits that you eat, just the
the richness they have and and and you know, juice
and liquid and whatnot. I mean that that that can
be good hydration.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
So well, I told you, you know, watermelons my go to.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Oh yeah, but you gotta be careful to because it's
got some natural sugars in it. If you're trying to
do weight loss, and watermelon is great for you, but
in moderation, mind you, but it is a great source
of water.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
I mean, are you gonna don't make people feel bad, Scott,
because the natural sugars in watermelon. This guy loses one
hundred pounds and he's out here. You better moderation.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Yeah, I know, I know a little over but you know,
to your point, when I when I get that thirst
at night and I have some watermelon, it does quench
that thirst much like a glass of water.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
When I'm when I'm inhaling bush lights this weekend watching football,
I'm gonna think, well, hey, at least I didn't overdo
it on the watermelon. At least I didn't overdo it there.
Now I can you know, I can. I can breathe easy, right, right,
but I do.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
I do it in all serious, I do appreciate you
bringing that up this morning.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
And it's a lot of things people are thinking about as.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
They roll out of the rack this morning and and
kind of hit the maybe next time, you know, before
you hit that coffee, get some water.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
In hodrate yourself this morning and thank me for it.
I'm kidding. There you go, boss, and by a lottery ticket.
That's right, that's right, all right. So we've got another
update of trapping a weather coming your way. So there's
another story out there with the Crystal Rogers case. Obviously,
they've the cases have concluded. Now we're waiting sentencing, and
we now know, as you heard there in the news
update from John Shannon, that one of the former investigators,
(06:24):
the lead investigator, John Snow, is going to be He's
been subpoened to be a part of this sentencing. And
I'm starting to wonder, is that is that I feel
like it's pretty common, but maybe it's just a reminder
that anytime there's any little development in the Crystal Rogers case,
it's going to get a lot of attention because of
just what that whole thing was, and I guess still
currently is because sentencing hasn't happened just yet. All right,
let's get to a quick break again, trapping a weather
(06:45):
coming up right here right now on News Radio eight
forty whas Coffee and Company with you on News Radio
eight forty whas. So, the lead detective in the Crystal
Rogers case, John Snow, has been order to appear at
the sentencing for Brooks Howck and Joseph Lawson. So the
Commonwealth subpoenaed John Snow to appear at the September seventeenth
(07:07):
sentencing for both how and Lawson and any development and
I'm not even really sure if we could call this
a development. It's going to I mean, this case when
it comes to just I mean, the case, the story,
everything about it is something that I would imagine twenty
five thirty years from now, a lot of people who
are still with us at that time, hopefully I'm here too.
(07:28):
I mean, this will be something we remember just because
of the ten years that went by and still not
even having full closure on what actually happened to Crystal Rodgers.
But obviously justice was served as these two were found guilty,
and obviously the recommended sentence for howck is his life?
And we'll see what ends up happening in the sentence.
But I'd gotten confused because John Snow was the lead
(07:50):
detective on this case, and he did testify during trial,
and he was one of many that was interviewed right
after the sentence or right after the guilty verdict came down.
And if you remember, there was insinuation for many that
this isn't over yet. And I'm paraphrasing I shouldn't be
doing that, but it and from what we learned what
was discovered throughout the trial, if in fact tomorrow today,
(08:14):
even we find out that they're bringing charges to brooks
House's brother Nick or his mother. I mean, can we
be shocked? No, because they were listed during the trial
as unindicted co conspirators, and I don't know clearly they
wouldn't be charged maybe with the same level of charges
that the brooks howse got, but I don't know. I mean,
you just never you never really know. But I'd gotten
confused her because Shane Young, who is the prosecutor in
(08:36):
this case, he was he was bothered by at least
one individual's comments right after this this guilty verdict came
down because I guess by publicly insinuating that maybe more
charges are coming, it could get in the way of
the investigation. And I thought for some reason that maybe
John Snow was going to be called to testify, because
(08:57):
again I just couldn't quite the two here, but it
was it was, uh, the the person he was make
sure I've got the Yeah, Nelson County Sheriff Ramone Pinniora
maybe not be saying that name correctly. He's the one
who made public statements suggesting possible developments in the other
Barge Town cases. Because obviously Crystal Rodgers' father was was murdered,
(09:18):
and the I mean the fact that the gun that
was used to kill him was later pawned and Nick
Howke's or Brooks How's brother, Nick I believe at some
point was the owner of that gun or something along
those lines. There was clearly some involvement there. I mean
that that isn't I guess full on proof, but I
mean it's it's It's also not something anybody I think
we just look at and ignore. But yes, I think
(09:41):
the reason you haven't heard as much about the other
cases is because I guess public comment from those, especially
in law enforcement, could just potentially damage the case, or
it could give a tell as to what is known
by the investigators currently. And you know this was This
was Shay Shaye McCallister, who of course was was phenomenal
during her coverage of the entire Crystal Rogers story. But
(10:02):
this was what Shane Young said to Shane McCallister. This
was shortly after the guilty verdict. Ramon Panora has no
idea what he is talking about. He has not been
involved in this matter since I took it over in
January of twenty twenty three. He's not been in meetings
and is not privy to anything we have done. I
would ask that the public disregard any statements he makes
that has related to any of the cases I've involved in.
Kentucky State Police has been the lead agency on all
(10:24):
three cases since January of twenty three. Other agencies have assisted,
but Kentucky State Police has always been the lead agency
in these matters. I bring this up to say that
just because things have gone quiet as far as the
other cases or others that could be could be charged
in their involvement in what happened to Crystal Rogers, just
because it's gone quiet does not mean that it's over.
It's just that that's probably the standard protocol because again,
(10:46):
you keep things close to the vest during investigations for
obvious reasons. But yeah, John Snow will be will be
there for the sentencing in September, and I know I'm
not the only one eager to see what the actual
sentence is for both parties. Here Coffee and Company with you,
Nick Coffee, that's me Scott Fitzgered alongside again. You just
heard John Shannon. And if you are somebody that has
(11:07):
YouTube TV, I have YouTube TV as well, and we
don't need to worry. At least I don't think we
need to worry. I can't guarantee it, but this dispute
between Fox and YouTube TV tomorrow, let me put it
this way, wouldn't be shocked if tomorrow we do have
issues to where we can't get access to channels that
we typically would like to have access to. However, I
(11:29):
would imagine by the weekend it'll all be resolved. I
could be wrong, but if these things this plays out
the way the other disputes have played out, it'll all
work out and both sides will realized. And I'm not
sure who's going to cave right. This seems like a
game of chicken, because if you take it up with
YouTube TV, they'll tell you, hey, it's Fox's fault. You're
gonna reach out to them. We're trying our best, we
(11:51):
got to keep the lights on. And then Fox is
probably saying the same exact thing as you know. They're
they're continuing to make more and more money and we
just want what we pay for. It is wild, though,
how they could be in dispute yet we still pay
for the service and we're the ones who could potentially
be you know, really screwed here.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Now.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
With that said, usually they'll give you some type they'll
pro rate your bill or something like that. But the
current dispute again, it's YouTube TV in Fox. So by Wednesday,
which is tomorrow, if no deal is reached, subscribers of
YouTube TV could lose not just Fox, but Fox Broadcast,
f S ONEFS two, the big ten network, Fox News
(12:32):
and the first I mean, let's be honest, the first
big time NFL or the first time college football game.
I mean, that's a big newon kickoff, is it not?
Scott the Ohio State and Texas Fox. So we'll see
if they end up having an issue that doesn't get
resolved by the deadline, which is tomorrow five pm, August
twenty seventh. I just live television is the value of
(12:56):
it is really all within sports right now, and that's
been the case for a long long time. So to
have this fight, and again you got to stand your
ground to an extent, you gotta, you know, you gotta.
It's negotiation, it's it's business. However, if you're unable to
work it out on both sides, becomes an issue to
where you can't, you can't your customers and again you
(13:17):
as a company YouTube TV. If you don't have the
ability to watch that, I mean, that's you're losing out
on one of the rare opportunities you have. Because right now,
the NFL hasn't started just yet, and Fox is going
to get some big games, but maybe the biggest one
they're going to have this year could be this first
one between Ohio State and Texas, the defending national champs
(13:37):
taking on one of the biggest brands in college football, who,
by the way, they're going to be making he's going
to be making his debut, Arch Manning. I mean that's
I mean this this game is humongous, and I just
have a hard time thinking that by the time we
get to noon on Saturday that they have not found
a way to make it work out. But YouTube tv
currently has nine point four million subscribers, making it one
(13:57):
of the largest out there as far as just how
people consume television. And I said this earlier, and I
didn't mean to mock people, because I'm sure it still
is something others haven't done. But the whole cord cutter
conversation from years ago, if you cut the cord on
the cord cut I mean, like, who hasn't cut the
cord at this point. And yes, I know there are
some that haven't, but these are things that may may
(14:18):
make you like if you have Spectrum, you're probably sitting
back thinking, Okay, well this is why I didn't cut
the cord because of things like this. Well, you've been
in this situation too. It was just two years ago
where Spectrum didn't have the ability to play any of
the ABC ESPN channels for games because of the of
the dispute with Disney. So it happens, it'll happen again,
and eventually one of them caves. I'm trying to think
(14:38):
back to the biggest the biggest gap that folks had
with with access to one of the channels. I could
be wrong, but Dish Network years ago had a CBS
dispute to where you couldn't get our partners at WLKY,
And this may be an example of where I can
be proven wrong as far as just they're not going
(14:59):
to not get it worked out because they would just
miss out. But I think you missed out on? Did
Dish Network people miss out on?
Speaker 2 (15:07):
There aren't madness?
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (15:09):
I was getting close.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
And my question to you, Nick, is that as a
YouTube subscriber, if this word had drag gone. Do you
jump ship off YouTube and go to another service, especially
if you're an Ohio state or Texas fan.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
I mean I would find a way to watch it
and not think about even changing to a different provider,
just because I would assume they'd get it worked out.
But if it became a long standing thing, then yeah,
I would look into it. And you know, right now
what I pay, I don't even know what it is.
It's obviously gone up substantially since I signed up about
eight years ago. Nine years ago maybe, And I mean,
(15:44):
to me, it's worth it because I mean I have
access to everything that I would need. But when it
gets down to live sports being exclusively on streaming platforms
where you don't you know, you don't have to have
a live television provider to sign in, and we're not
there yet. I mean that's when I wouldn't really need
because anything I watch as far as entertainment, I don't
(16:06):
need YouTube TV for it. I mean I find things
on there that I can watch, Like I got Judge
Judy the DVRs every day and I watch that, but
like I can easily find that elsewhere, and it's not
something that I that I you know, can't go without.
But yeah, the other competitors, I guess of YouTube TV.
I mean, obviously Hulu lib is really popular with a
lot of people. I know that. In fact, like direct
(16:26):
TV has their own streaming. They do platform. Now that's
pretty popular.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
What do you guys use we use right now? We're
still Spectrum.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
We but see we're not sold to one of their, right,
I know, right, go figure, we're not sold to either one.
It just happened to be that Spectrum, like I thought Spectrum.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Pla we had who for the longest time.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Oh so you do you have spectrum streaming or just
the streaming? Okay, yeah, stream So you are you're not
a boomer, You're a cord corder, right, I'm joking. By
the way, if you haven't cut the cord and you have,
you maybe you haven't needed to. No.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
And so the thing is is that, you know, we go,
I'm not sold to either one.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
I've had Hulu.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
I've probably get a YouTube TV next year, you know,
I just every year I go and I look and
I see, Okay, it's not really a cost thing because
they're all about the same, yes, but it's kind of like,
what do you offer.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Now, if the.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Lions, if I didn't think they were gonna fall off
this year, if I didn't think they saw their better days,
I'd probably go over to YouTube TV and order Sunday
ticket so I could watch the Lions. But I'm one
year is not going to be enough for me to
be so I'm guarded optimism.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
By the way, what do you have, John, I got
YouTube TV.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
I'm with you on a YouTube TV.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
Or yeah, I just it's it's not like I'm super
loyal to it, but it works for me when I
was sampling different streaming services at the time, whenever I
gave it a shot. We'll talk about this conversation. We'll
continue this conversation just a moment. But to me, the
interface just seemed better than the others. So that's what
I went with and I've never left. But hey, if
there was a better deal, and I mean I wouldn't,
I wouldn't lose sleep. It's not a loyalty thing. It's
(17:48):
just what I've had for a long time. And again,
we'll continue this conversation coming up here in just a
few minutes. But we got an update on Travck and
weather coming your way right here, right now on news
radio Waight forty whis just a couple of minutes here
before we have another update of traffick and weather for you.
As we are about twelve minutes. It's away from seven
o'clock on a Tuesday morning here on news radio eight
forty whas. So I'm YouTube TV, Scott A. Spectrum and
John Shannon also YouTube TV. The reason we're bringing this
(18:10):
up is because there's another dispute where YouTube TV and
Fox are are blaming each other pointing fingers, and it
could lead to customers not having access to channels that
they're going to need. But I still think that even
if they don't get it fixed by Saturday before the
big time college football game that is on Fox between
Ohiostate and Texas, the first NFL Sunday, which is a
(18:30):
little bit over a week away, I guess a little
bit under two weeks a week, I should say. Just
the scenario where it isn't worked out by then, I
think is highly unlikely, but we shall see. But anyways,
looking at other providers out there in this space of
streaming TV, so YouTube TV is right there with Hulu
plus Hulu Live TV. So with YouTube TV eighty three
(18:50):
bucks a month is the approximate price. And on Hulu Live,
this is where Hulu stands out. Hulu has you get
the Hulu content that's been there forever, just there's their
service that has movies, original programming and whatnot. But then
you also get a live TV added. So that's where
they get you, is they claim that, well, I say
they get you. That's where they they, I guess stand
out to where you do have ads included with that,
(19:12):
but it also gives you Disney Plus, ESPN Plus and
again the whole library of Hulu. So for value, that's
not bad. I just I like YouTube TV and with Hulu,
I've heard that the interface is just kind of kind
of clunky and that that that that's what really hooked
me on YouTube TV. It looked like a real guide
like I had when I used to open up my
direct TV. But there's still Sling TV out there. Forgot
(19:34):
about them. Direct TV stream that's pretty popular. And then
one that I've heard about, but I don't know anybody
that uses it. When I say I've heard about it.
I've heard that it's good for sports, but Fubo you
heard Fubo Scott, I'm not super familiar with it, but
I've just heard that if when it comes to like
the streaming service that is more so catered to sports,
aw sports, I've heard that that's that's the way to go.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
We used to get it to watch the World Junior
Hockey Tournament every Christmas. It's awesome.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
And then Dish Dish anywhere is there is their streaming
and I got to be I've never heard of that.
I've heard of of course, Dish Network. Yeah, but I
just don't know anybody that uses that. So You've got
options out there when it comes to stream and I'm
sure a lot of them will offer some type of
free trials. So if you do end up not being
able to access Fox because of this dispute, I'm sure
(20:22):
one of them will give you some kind of free trial.
But if not, maybe this is maybe this is the
incentive for you to switch it up and take an
introductory price at one of these other these other providers,
just because hey, I mean to me, it ain't about loyalty.
I don't want to watch what I want to watch,
and there's very few opportunities for me to really sey Okay,
it's live, I got to turn it on and watch it.
If we get to that point and I can't, then
YouTube TV. I'm sorry, I will I will leave you
(20:44):
if I have to. And I'm sure you're really worried
about me leaving, but just being honest with you, don't
say it didn't warn you.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
That's why I did a spectrum and they gave me
a great deal and I couldn't turn it down.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
Yeah, and look, that's that's that's the name of the game.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
Now.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
They know that it's a competitive world out there when
it comes to customers and consuming live television, because again,
people realize they don't need it. If you're gonna charge something,
they'll find a way to watch it without you. So
you gotta you gotta play ball with the customer. All right.
We got an update of trapping weather on the way
right here, right now on Who's Radio eight forty whas
