A lackluster Week 6 in the NFL for Ben and the Penny didn't provide much drama. Fortunately, Ben's blistering start has him well over .500 for the season so a rebound is likely with a ripe slate of games.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome players, You're welcome. Are It's time now Penny the
Penny that it is week seven in the NFL. We
are back at not a great weekend last weekend. We
don't have a lot of time to play grab bass here,
but thank you for downloading this podcast. And this is
an informative information based podcast giving opinions on all the

(00:25):
NFL games. You should not only go on the you
shouldn't bet everything I've been is what I'm trying to
say here. Um, but if you're a gambler and you
have an opinion on a certain game, if I agree
with it, that I always say that's that should be
the thing that pushes you over the edge. There, But
don't lose touch with reality. I've been very hot this year. Uh,
it's it's very um thinly based, shall we say. I

(00:48):
believe I will continue to win. But uh, years past
years and years of data, Uh does not go well anyway?
This week we will not. We have we have the
no Browns, no Panthers, no snow Steelers. They're all on
the bye week now. David Gascon is the voice of
the Penny and so Gascon, how did we do last week?

(01:08):
Before we look ahead? You were awful five and nine. No,
I think I was like six and eight. No, no,
you're five. No, no, you're five. I think you're wrong. No,
no, no no, no, no. You got Arizona or you got Carolina. Correct,
you got Minnesota and Arizona. And Arizona they covered against
they were an underdog against Atlanta. They covered the Lions.

(01:31):
Uh the lines, they covered, that's right, and that's it.
And the Jets. Okay, I don't have it in front
of me, but I think I believe I did better
than your saying. But it doesn't matter that I had
a bad week. It was not good. I lost my shirt. Um,
and I will do better. I I like the card
this week better. I didn't really like the card last week. UM.

(01:51):
I feel like there's some more games I have a
good feel on that are in the spotlight this weekend.
So we'll see see what's going on with that. Let's
make some money, all right. Arizona to three and one
at the New York Giants. It's on Fox. Check this out.
Kenny Albert's working with Greg Olsen, the former. Actually he's
still playing. He's in the NFL with Carolina. They're gonna
bye week this week. So Greg Olsen slides into the

(02:13):
fox box that rocks with Kenny Albert. Thanks to my
friends Sports with Coleman for for letting me know. Uh.
I thought Kenny normally works with one of the Barber brothers,
but he's gonna work with Greg Olson here. Uh. The
Giants opened a three point favorite. The line is still three.
It's mc cloudy degrees at MetLife Stadium for this game,
so the weather's not a factor. I'm gonna take the

(02:34):
Giants in this game. I've been on the Cardinals the
last couple of games. Um, you know it's it's appropriate
that Kyler Murray, who's the size of a high school freshman, um,
is that way because the Cardinals are in the junk
food portion of their schedule Bengals, Falcons and now Giants,
and you're you're never supposed to choke on cream puffs.
Now Arizona is a cream puff. Kyler Murray sycophants or delusion.

(02:58):
He's done okay, but let's not go overboard. Uh. This
is another game against a dreadful defense where Murray should
put up some numbers. New York is twenty eight in
the NFL. Defensively, they can't stop anybody uh And secondly,
Big Blue. The Giants are dead last and giveaways per game,
they ranked thirty second, neck and neck with the Cleveland Browns.

(03:20):
And in one of the keys to this game obviously
is the Giants, say Kwan Barkley, he was apparently backed
the information we have he missed the last couple of games.
How effective he'll be after that high ankle sprain isn't
an open question. The jury is still out on that um.
He suffered that back in week three. But Evan Ingram,
the tight end also is back. So they're getting a
couple of playmakers. You've got Golden Tates still there, and

(03:44):
Arizona is actually worse defensively then the Giants their thirtieth
in the NFL defensively the g men. So I expect
this to be a seesaw kind of a game. But
in the end, I believe the New York Giants at
home will ween and cover. Giants thirty four, Cardinals thirty.

(04:05):
Harryett Mode Penny is also going with the New York Giants. Alright,
Houston four and two in Indianapolis three and two. It's
on CBS with Greg Gumble and Trent Green on the call.
The Colts opened a two and a half point favorite.
Public loves the Texans, so the culture down to a
one point favorite. Games in a dome at Lucas Oil Stadium,
but outside the dome it will be sixty five. I

(04:26):
stay in Indianapolis, mostly cloudy on Sunday, I'm gonna take
the Colt. I'll tell you why. First of all, this
is a huge letdown spot. I like the psychology of
sports gambling. I believe this is a letdown spot for
the Texans. I know it's a divisional game, but the
Texas are the toast of the NFL in many respects.
The talking heads are slabber slabber lick lick all over

(04:47):
the Texans after they want an arrowhead. Last week winning
the fourth quarter, they were trailing going to the fourth quarter.
They won the game, fell behind big early, so everyone's
been massaging Deshaun Watson and and you know his fan
boys there. It was orgasmic for them. But the train
keeps moving and Indianapolis is a good spot for Indye.

(05:08):
They stepped on the booby trap in their last game
before the bye. They lost to the Raiders. Uh, and
you're gonna get a hungry motivated, focused Colts team looking
to get that bad taste out of their mouth, and
you got a satisfied Texans team to a point. And also,
Jacobe Bristette, this is one of the teams he's actually
played pretty well against in his career. He's yet to

(05:30):
throw an interception's one of all three games as a
quarterback against the Texans in his career. And the other
thing about Indies are very hard to play in the
sense that they're like a chameleon on office. They changed
their style from week to week depending on who they're
playing to attack the weaknesses of the opponent, which means
they're a versatile team. And you know, the other thing

(05:53):
is Houston's just due to cool off. The law of
averages plays in here. They've had sixties six first downs
the last two games. Sixty six first downs the last
two games, which is more of a testimonial to the
Falcons and the Chiefs. Indianapolis is a better defensive team.
They should show some resistance here. Colts six, Texans twenty

(06:16):
compending like you to go with the Colts. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Ben Meller Show weekdays
at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the I Heart Radio app. All Right, Next
up Miami, oh and five at Buffalo four and one
is on CBS. Andrew Catalan and James Lofton have the call.

(06:38):
The Bills open the fifteen and a half point favorite.
They are favored by seventeen degrees at New Era Field
the fifty seven at kickoff in Orchard Park, New York.
I am gonna take Buffalo in this game. The main
reason the Dolphins of the peasants of the NFL. They
are the undomesticated animals of the pigskin. See uh. And
this is pretty much a show up and win situation. Know,

(07:00):
obviously the big question on this Buffalo Miami game is
can you cover that number? Buffalo is an offensively challenged
football team, at least that's the public perception. That's a
lot of real estate to navigate with Josh mistake prone
Allen as quarterback. But there are it's more than one
way to bake a cake. Because I like to say so,

(07:21):
defense and running the ball, and the Dolphins are going
with Ryan Fitzpatrick, who will guaranteed at least have a
fumble and an interception or two interceptions, something like that
as he gets the start, it wouldn't It wouldn't really
matter whether same or Josh Rose Fitzpatrick could actually throw
a couple of touchdown passes, which would screw you up.
But the Bills, even though they're not thought of as

(07:43):
a great offensive team, they have outgained their opponents by
nineties seven total net yards per game. That's fifth best
in the NFL. The Dolphins have been out gained by
over two hundred yards per game, the worst in the NFL.
Um by the way, the Jets of the second worst
and about sixty yards better than the Dolphins. But I'm
riding the Buffalo defense. I'm gonna ride with the Bills.

(08:05):
Mafi here crushed the tables and hope that Frank Gore
in the running game are able to find Peytir enough.
The other thing is the public keeps betting on the Dolphins.
They're not even trying to win in the dummies in
the gambling public keep betting on Miami. They said, oh,
seventeen points. They must think Dan Marino's playing for the Dolphins.
Buffalo thirty one, Dolphins ten. You're final. It's a divisional game.

(08:30):
Penny is also going with the Miami Dolphins. Never mind
all that it's a divisional game, but when one team
is not trying, you don't you lay the points? All right?
Moving on Minnesota four and two at Detroit to two
and one. It's on Fox. Brandon Gotten and Chris Bielman
have the CoA. Why aren't you doing this game? Well,

(08:50):
we'll talk about that when we go have dinner with
your buddy Kenny Albert trying to ride my cotips. Just
talking about play by play teams and anyways, come on,
let's go. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Ben Maller Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific. Alright,
Vikings open, Yeah, I know I wanna avoid that. Vikings

(09:10):
open to pick him. They are one and a half
point favorites. It's gonna be in a dorm at Ford Field,
and it's the weather's not bad and destroyed at kick off.
I'm gonna take the Vikings in this game. This is
a game that was a bit of a toss up
for me, which Kirk Cousins is gonna show up. Cousins
had six touchdowns over the last two games against weaker defenses.
Yeah you Philadelphia, Their secondary sucks and recorded just three

(09:35):
across his first four games. Now I am drinking the
Purple Kool eight. I'm betting on Cousins getting the job
done here. But we cannot be oblivious to the fact
that he has been like a swing. He's up and
down from game to game and in his Minnesota tenure.
And the Lions are a better defensive team. Um, you
wonder where they're at mindset wise. After a stinging, heartbreaking,

(09:58):
hotel heart break, hotel loss at Lambo on Monday night,
they were given the Packers were given the game by
incompetence by the referees. But but I'm gonna take the Vikings.
I mean, Detroit has some pretty good names on defense.
The perception is they're a good defensive team, but statistically
they've been pulverized. They're giving up four hundred thirteen yards

(10:20):
per game the Lions this year. The Vikings, for a comparison,
are number five in defense in the NFL. So you've
got a much better Viking defense, and you know, Minnesota's
defensive a blitz happy attack, which that actually you know,
it's the game within the game. That doesn't necessarily help
the Vikings because Matthew Stafford has four touchdowns and no

(10:43):
interceptions against the Blitz. But despite it all, Vikings only
a one and a half point favorite. I don't know
on the road, I'm gonna take the Vikings twenty seven
Lions twenty four depending going that way as well. Go
with Minnesota, all right? Next up Oakland three in two
at green Bay five and one. It's on CBS. Jim

(11:04):
Nance and Toe Knee row Mo have the call. The
Packers opened a seven point favorite. They are favored by
five and a half. It will be partly sunny in
fifties six degrees that kick off at Lambow Field. Well,
I don't like the fact that I agree with the
public on this, but I do. I'm gonna take the

(11:26):
Raiders all right. Now. First of all, the Packers are
proof it's better to be lucky than go. We just
told you they were given a game by the officials.
Green Bay has been the biggest beneficiary of officiating calls
going their away, meaning most yards gained from penalties on
the other team than any other team in the NFL's

(11:46):
not even close. So the Raiders are going into a
hornet's nest where they not only have to beat the Packers,
they have to beat the officials. It's like on eleven um.
So the Packers have a distinct advantage here. But I
think Green Bay is just over raded. I believe they're
over rated. H you know, people, So that's just how

(12:07):
could you just say that, you know, there's a couple
of these games that they should have lost that we're
given to them by the opposition. So if green Bay,
let's say green Bay's three and three right now, the
perception is not, oh, they're great. The perception is whether
average And I don't know who the real Raiders are either,
to be honest with you, I mean the to me,
the Raiders in Detroit are about even and in Oakland

(12:30):
is the rested team after the bye week? Is they
continue that nomad lifestyle, that football orphan lifestyle Packers coming
on the short week. Aaron Rodgers has been a garden
variety quarterback. He's twenty in the NFL case, Keenum has
been more productive. Jacoby Brissette has been more productive, uh
in these games. Plus the other thing for for Green Bay,

(12:52):
I look at the psychology of this. This is a
peak of boot special. The Packers have a showcase game
next week with the Kansas City Chiefs now and this
is you know this is an out of conference game.
I know that's an out of conference game, but that's
a big highlight game for the NFL. So do they
get caught looking ahead? Packers will win, but will not

(13:15):
cover Packers two Raiders twenty three Penny also go with
the silver and bleak Oakland Raiders. All right, let's get
trivial Gardner Minshew, my guy Gardner, mishu. The second is
the third quarterbacks in the n eight hundred plus passing
yards and no interceptions through his first three career roads starts.

(13:37):
The other two we're Marcus Mariota and blank fill in
the blank. The answer coming up in a couple of minutes.
Speaking of Gardner Minshew. Jacksonville at Cincinnati Jacks two and
four Bengals oh and six. It is on CBS with
Kevin Harlan and Rich Gannon. They have the call on

(13:58):
this game. Jacksonville opened up a three point road favorite.
They have actually been bet up to three and a half,
which should scare you a little bit because that's that
hook on the end of it. It's gonna be cloudy
sixties six degrees. A kick off at Paul Brown Stadium
in Cincinnati. I'm gonna take the Jags in this game. Uh,
And I think that's the only way. Either don't bet

(14:18):
the game, or you take Jacksonville Gardner minshew Mania. Uh.
They obviously ran into a brick wall last week. But
even with the offensive frailties, the Jags were tied with
Big Bad in New Orleans going to the fourth quarter
and it took a Teddy Bridgewater drive and a low
scoring game in the fourth quarter to win that for

(14:39):
New Orleans. So that's a that's a not a you know,
never a good loss, but that's a competitive loss for
Jacksonville against one of the better teams in the NFL.
And it's really hard to suck against the Bengals. They're
so sorrowful, right, this is the perfect rebound game. It's
stunning to see the Jags favorite on the road against anybody.

(14:59):
But it's really tribute to the incompetence of the Bengals
franchise that they're in that situation. The Bengals are trying
to go oh in sixteen, as you know, the front
office and all that, they have to lose this game
to get closer to that destination. The main reason to
like Jacksonville is Leonard fin four net. He should pillage
those dreadful Cincinnati Bengal linebackers. Jacksonville is averaging five point

(15:23):
one yards per carry, third best in the NFL. The
Bengals are allowing five point three yards per carry. That's
worst in the NFL. Now that tells you what has happened,
doesn't tell you what will happen. But the public is
all over Jacksonville, which I said, you know that scares me, um,
But listen, the Bengals were good or even somewhat competitive,

(15:45):
I would say, Okay, I'll roll the dice with Cincinnati
is a live home dog. But don't hold your breath.
They're poorly coach. They have bad players. I know they're
getting some guys back, but the mistakes will continue. Jacksonville
the Bengals twenty penny going the other way, going with
the Bungles. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk

(16:07):
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Fox sports Radio dot com and within the I Heart
Radio app search f s R to listen live. All Right,
we gotta pay off the instant or the instant the
let's get trivial Gardner Minshew the third quarterback since nineteen
fifty have eight hundred plus passing yards and no interception
through three his first three career road starts. The others

(16:31):
were Marcus Mariota, who's been benched in Tennessee back in blank. Yes,
I'm gonna go with Bernie Kosar's good name. You know,
that's Dick In Dayton's favorite Brown's quarterback is Bernie Kozar.
Nobody else is good on that team. Dick and Dayton
loves him. Webster Slaughter, Ernest Biner, all those old Browns,
the fumble and uh and Dick would like to see

(16:53):
every time the Browns fire coach and executive. I said, hey, Deck,
who do you want to see the Browns hire? Dick
and Dayton will always tell me Bernie Kozar. Ben I
think Bernie would be good. It's so funny. Um, But
now the answer is he's a here's another good name,
Elvis Gerbach, Kansas City chiefs. Now he did with as
a rookie with the forty niners in nineteen ninety five.

(17:13):
So that goes way back. It's over twenty or something,
you know, almost twenty five years ago. You believe it's
been almost twenty five years that's a lot. Uh. Anyway, Anyway,
I remember talking about Elvis guir back on the radio
when he was playing, Uh yikes, all right, the l
a Rams three in three at Atlanta one in five

(17:34):
on Fox with Sam Rosen and Charles Davis calling this game. Now,
the Rams opened a four point road favorite. They are
favored by three. Mean a dome in Atlanta, light, rain,
sixty degrees outside, but inside, perfect conditions at the Mercedes
Benz Stadium. I'm taking the Rams, all right. The Falcons

(17:56):
went into Los Angeles upset the Rams in the playoff
a couple of years ago. This is the first meetings
since that game. You assume there's enough players on the
Rams that are still around that remember that this is
also the perfect vaccine, the magic elixir for what is
hurting the Rams. Everyone and their uncle gets healthy against
the Falcons. If the Rams lose this game, heads should

(18:18):
roll under no circumstances. So they allowed to lose this game.
Now the questions when they cover the spread Under Sean McVeigh,
the Rams have played as road warriors, have done really well,
especially against crappy opponents. The problem is this version of
the Rams that they currently have has the worst starting
offensive line in the NFL according to the advanced data,

(18:40):
not counting the Dolphins outside the Dolphins, who aren't even
a real NFL team. Fortunately, though, the reason you like
the Rams here, Jared Golf is going against the Falcons defense,
which gargles tap water from Flint, Michigan. They're so bad. Uh.
Even even Marcus mari Oda a couple of weeks ago,
looked invincible against the dirty Birds defense at Alanta has

(19:00):
allowed one thousand thirty four total yards the last two games.
That's the most surrendered by any team in a two
game span the entire year so far, including a league
that has the Dolphins and the Bengals and the Redskins.
So and the other thing is the Ramps should be
foreign to Greg's oline. Mr gimme in Seattle. And if
the Rams were four into at this point instead of

(19:22):
three in two or three and three, the public perception
would be much different. The line the Rams would be
probably favored by five or more points in this game. Um,
so you gotta adjust with that and say, well, they
should have won that game. And the other thing, there's
a lot of soaking and winding going on in Atlanta.
Everyone's waiting for the guillotine to fall on the neck
of Dan Quinn as he continues to hold on by

(19:43):
a threat as the sheriff of Hucklebee Um Huckleberry. But
but the Dolphins in in Bengals are historically bad, so
Atlanta is getting a bit of a pass of criticism
and you don't have the full bull's eye on their
back and all that. But they have been playing powder
puff football in Georgia, UH this year. And you know

(20:04):
Matt Ryan will get his empty numbers, will pass for
three hundred yards and a couple of touchdowns and all
that stuff. But you know, plenty of ineptitude and clumsy
in this UH. And hopefully Jalen Ramsey will play and
he'll he'll shut down Julio Jones or contain him. And
the Browns will have a bunch of drop passes, a
bunch of fumbles, a bunch of players slipping and falling.
It's like a football follies video, and the Rams will

(20:25):
feel good about themselves and they'll get the four and
three Rams, thirty falcons twenty damn right man, damn right.
I love that play that more. Penny's also going with
the Rams. They gotta win more. They had to win
more in the Rams. Penny can't pa playing that unless
they start winning. Playing like a bunch of chops three
and three. They got man handled last week. They're right

(20:47):
in the middle of the bell. They were grabbing ankles
last week. It was embarrassing. You do that every weekend,
All right, let's get trivial. He set me up, man,
You're like, that was like a John Stockton passed a
carm alone back with the old as you thought, yead,
you can sent me up that. That was a an
alley pass from Russell Westbrook to James Arber Christy. Come on,

(21:07):
all right, let's get trivial. The Redskins earned their first
win of the season in interim coach Bill Callahan's debut. Now,
Callaghan is bidding to become the fifth Redskins coach to
win his first two games, the first since blank. The
answer coming up. Speaking of the Redskins, they play host
to Santa Clara. The Santa Clara forty niners of five

(21:29):
and oh Redskins are one in five. It's on Fox.
My former colleague Chris Myers, part of the Fox Sports
Radio Alumni Association, and Darryl Moose Johnston have the call.
The Niners opened to nine and a half point favorite.
They're currently favored by nine and athro line has not
changed to be cloudy in fifty nine and landover Maryland

(21:50):
at FedEx Field. Uh and against my better judgment, I'm
gonna take the Redskins here and I'll tell you why
I bet on bad teams. First of all, this is
a classic letdowns about the Niners. Have played prime time game.
They played prime time game against the Browns Monday Night Football.
They follow that up with a key NFC West game
for them against the Rams. They got a lot of attention,

(22:13):
and they have another game which is much more important
as far as the the NFL power structure, the totem
poll in the NFL. They played Carolina next week, which
is more of a high profile game. And the other
thing is nobody gets fired up to play the Redskins.
You've got you know, this is a good test to
see how the Niners handle prosperity. And uh, you know,
I think the Niners are a good team. I like

(22:33):
their defense. I'm impressed. I hate to say that I
had to give him credit, but they may They said
they looked like a good team. The way they played.
They are down a couple of offensive linemen, which you
got a factory in coming to this game. Will that matter?
The Redskins are pretty bad defensively. Uh. And the main
problem I have I'm taking the Redskins despite this is
how are they going to move the ball? Their offenses trash?

(22:54):
They got a bunch of good for nothing playmakers who
collectively disappeared to fit air for stretches of games. But
that said, the value is on the side of Washington.
You get over a Touchdore, I gotta stay loyal to
my gambling principles on Benny versus the penny, I tried
to do that. And and West Coast team going east
early start forty Niners. You figure a little lethargic at

(23:17):
the beginning of the game. Redskins can score special teams touchdown.
Jimmy Garoppolo throws an interception that could lead to an
easy score for the Redskins. And the other thing is
the public is loading up on the Niners, and most
NFL games are decided by touchdown a less even the
bad teams keep it close. And this is not quite
double digits. But you can live a nice life on

(23:38):
clothes or at double digit odds. So I'm gonna close
my eyes, I'm gonna cover my ears, more importantly, shut
my mouth, and i will take the Santa Clara forty
Niners six the Redskins seventeen. That's right, Hail to the Redskins,
Hail to victory. Penny Gill with San Francisco. All right,
let's get trivial. The Redskins earned their first win of

(24:01):
the season and interim coach Bill Callahan's debut, Callahan bidding
they become the fifth Redskins head coach to win his
first two games, the first since Blank Gascon, lifelong fan
of the Washington Redskins. I'm gonna go with Can I
go with North Turner? It's good name, It's good name,

(24:22):
North Turner. Uh No, not Norvelle Turner. The correct answer.
You gotta go back to the that seventies show. Jack
Pardie got off to a six and oh start with
the nineteen seventy eight version of the Redskins. I would
have thought it would have been like Joe Gibbs. Yeah,
that was my first That was the obvious one. That's
why I used it. I don't like when the obvious
one is the answer, Jack Pardie. Here's a name. I've

(24:46):
heard that name since I was a kid. All Right,
Late games l A Chargers two and four at Tennessee
to and four. It's on CBS with Iron Eagle and
Dan Fouts. The Tennessee Titans opened up at one point. Favorite.
Titans are favored by two at this moment. Now the
weather gonna be partly sunny seventy eight degrees for Clay

(25:07):
Travis when he goes to this game at Nissan Stadium,
he's a Titan season take it older. I'm gonna take
his Titans in this spot. You don't love this game,
but I'm gonna take Tennessee as a small favorite at home.
This season has come apart for both these teams. The
Charges were in a f C power last season playoff
team won a playoff game. Now they are in a
pit of misery. And Philip Rivers has been worse than

(25:30):
his statistics. His turnovers and misquse have put the Chargers
consistently behind the eight ball. And you figure things would
go better. You figure that things would go better this
week against a week Tennessee team, right, And and I
believe you know, I believe it when it happened. You know,

(25:52):
I am I am skeptical of of this actually actually
working out. Uh, and so so we can we can
write this down seven ways to Sunday. Uh. If you want.
Melvin Gordon came back, he's been no good. The Chargers
actually have have been held the thirty five rushing yards
or fewer in both games since Melvin Gordon returned to

(26:14):
the team's first time. The Chargers have had back to
back games with thirty five rushing yards are less since nine.
The Titans have a decent defense, The problems on offense
has been a polar vortex. In their offense, they simply
can't score. Things are so bad that we know they're
turning to Ryan Tannehill as an upgrade over Marcus Mariota.
The Titans have had fewer than twenty five completions in

(26:37):
eighteen straight games, the longest active streak in the NFL.
The key here, he's the opponent. The Chargers defensively are
are not terrible statistically, but they've been just off enough
that it's not a winning formula. Combined with Philip Rivers mistakes.
You know, so the public seems to be slow reacting here.

(27:00):
How bad the Chargers are the public perception is you
know it, say, when the legend becomes the fact that
you go with the legend. Right, The legend is that
that the Chargers are a good team. The fact is
that right now they're not. And I expect Derrick Henry
to run wild against an injury ravage Charger defense Titans
despite the substandard quarterback twenty four the Chargers. Penny also

(27:25):
going with Tennessee. Alright, moving on, let's see here we
pressed on. We have the next game. I should well,
Lit's say a trivial one more time. Which quarterback has
produced the fewest negative plays that sacks, interceptions and fumbles
lowest rate through the first six weeks? Answer? Coming up?
Baltimore four and two at Seattle five and one. It's

(27:47):
on Fox. You know who's calling this game? It's a
pretty good game. Who's got the game? I'm gonna go
with Dick Stockton? That Dick. Dick Stockton and Ronde Barber,
who normally works with Kenny Albert and Mark Schlay were
three man both calling this game. Seahawks opened a four
point favorite. They are favorite right now by three and

(28:07):
a half. Light rain traditional Seattle weather, light rain and
fifty three degrees. I'm excited. I'm gonna tell you guys more.
I'll probably do it next week. Um, They're gonna be
a Mallard meet and greet at a forty Niners game.
Jay Scoop is setting this up. But but some of
the big super fans of the show in Seattle are
gonna get together before a Seahawks forty Niners game kind

(28:29):
of hold a rally outside the stadium with signs and
stuff and bull horn and it's gonna be pretty cool.
I'm fired up about it. I wonder if I can
get to Seattle and and maybe that would be fun
if I can go to that game and and be
part of it. But but anyway, so that's coming up.
But I'm gonna take the Ravens actually in this game.
Sorry Seahawks fans, I'm gonna take the Ravens. Pete Carroll.

(28:50):
I don't know if he's got lucky fuzzy dice or
rabbit's foot or whatever, but he has been able to
ward off bad luck. Seattle statistically has been outplayed in
several of the games that five and one, but they yeah,
they've won the scoreboard. My evaluation is much like talking
about Green Bay that the Seahawks really should be three
and three. They were outplayed by the Bengals, of all teams,

(29:12):
they rams missed the chip shot field goal that should
have won the game. Uh, you know last time out,
so uh two weeks ago. That that's the randomness of
the NFL season. Russell Wilson has yet to throw an interception.
That means the law of averages, he's due. Nobody's perfect.
You're gona throw interception? Why not this week against US
average Ravens defense. Uh. Secondly, this is the hardest game

(29:36):
I would say to handicap because both these teams are
more I believe of a pretender than a real contender.
And yet someone is either gonna be six and one,
or that would be Seattle, or both these teams will
be five and two. The Seahawks defeated the Browns last week.
They got their fourth win of the season by four
points or fewer. No other NFL team, Uh this Sea

(30:00):
and has has two more than two wins by four points,
so that they've been living a charmed life. And so
far this season in Baltimore, they haven't planned anybody. Their
opponents have a combined three winning percentage tied with the
forty Niners for the easiest schedule so far this NFL season.
And I'm also taking the Ravens despite history, I'm going

(30:23):
against the trend. Historically, the Ravens have turned to vampires
when they when they go to the West Coast, they're
dead birds. Ravens are four and eleven against the spread
on the West Coast in their franchise history. And I'm
sure Lamar Jackson's losing sleep over that. But there's something
else to follow a way that the Ravens have a
bye week next week, so you wonder about that. But

(30:43):
I like Marcus Peters energizing locker room coming over. They
think he's good. He's not um from the Rams, and
he'll just play cat coverage. You know what cat coverage
is gascon. Uh, Well, he's playing stopped and he's playing
in zone. So no, no cat coverages. When you don't
know what you're doing, you just tell him go out
and guard that cat. You point at the receiver that's

(31:04):
cat covered. I've never I heard that that's an NFL
coach of that years ago. But this is the Earl
Thomas revenge game. Uh. He's one of the captains for
the Ravens this week, So win it for Earl, Do
it for Earl Ravens as an underdog twenty three, spending

(31:26):
out with the home team of this one, see at all.
All right, we're doing an expetited edition of Benny versus
Pennycus Guest gone showed up late. Let's get trivial quarterbacks
who have produced negative plays alright, sacks, interception and the
fumbles at the lowest rate through the first six weeks.
Who's number one most perfect quarterback? I'm gonna go with

(31:47):
I'm gonna go to Teddy Bridgewater. That's a good one.
He's He's eighth. He's played very well, has not made
a lot of mistakes, given you know, that's not a
bad guess. Number one Patty Mahomes. Patrick Mahome him. Despite
the last couple of weeks, Patrick Mahomes is still number one.
Fewest sacks, interceptions and fumbles. Wow. Carson Wentz his second,

(32:08):
Dak Prescott's third, those are the top three. Al Right,
New Orleans five and one, at Chicago three and two.
It's on Fox with Tom Brenniman and Troy Aikman. Joe
Bucks doing the baseball and so he's doing the Thursday game,
but he's not. He did the Thursday game, but he's
not doing the Sunday game. So Akeman's gotta work with Brennaman.

(32:29):
The Bears opened a three point favorite. They're still favored
by three. It'll be sunny in sixty four degrees at
Soldier Field. I'm gonna take New Orleans in this game.
First of all, it looked like a fiasco with Teddy
Bridgewater when he first played against the Rams. But obviously, uh,
that was just some bad luck at the beginnings. But
he's played wonderfully. Uh, and the Saints have They've molded

(32:50):
the offense, made him an efficient quarterback, really solid game manager,
doesn't throw the ball down the field too much, and
it's working. You got a good defense in New Orleans
and they're they're fine. Uh. You know, Bridgewater has made
me look like a donkey. I look like a jackass
with that monologue I did about the Saints, but I
felt that way at the time. Bridgewater is now fifteen

(33:11):
and six as a starter. Since the only quarterbacks that
have a better record with a minimum of twenty starts
are Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. The guys just winning
games and not put up great numbers per se, but
he's winning games. I think that continues this week even
without Alvin Kamara, because the Saints have much like all
these great teams, they have that next man up mentality

(33:34):
in New Orleans. Now. Secondly, the Bears offensive line, they
have more holes than a fashionista's pants on the catwalk.
It's some fashion show in Paris that they have been
decimated by injury. And Mitch Robinski is back as the starter.
He has a dislocated shoulder and I don't know if

(33:54):
you saw this this week, but he was wearing a
left shoulder harness during practice. I mean, how much confidence
you have in your quarterback when he's gonna wear a
harness during practice? Well, you're not supposed to hit the
quarterback and they wear the red jersey. Um, not exactly
the picture of confidence. Uh. He says he's close to acent.
Nobody believes him. Chicago has lost five straight coming off

(34:16):
the bye That is the longest active streak in the NFL.
That's this situation at the bye week. Last week, New
Orleans four and oh straight up and against the spread
under the Teddy Bridgewater era. You don't love them in
this spot, but they are a small underdog. Bears are
a good team defensively, will cause some problems, but you
ride the Teddy Bridgewater Wave. It's bridge over and untroubled

(34:39):
waters until it crashes to shore. Saints seventeen Bears thirteen
penny going with the Saints right. Next up Sunday Night Football,
Philadelphia three and three at Dallas three and three. It's
on nbes SEE with Al Michaels and Chris Condworth, and

(35:03):
the Cowboys open to two and a half point favorite.
They are favored by three. It will be mostly clear
eighty one degrees a kickoff at a T and T
Stadium in Arlington. Jerry's world. Now, I'm taking the Cowboys
here and I'll walk you through my logic on this game.
This should be a slobber knocker. The Cowboys seem unbothered

(35:24):
by the statement made by Doug Peterson on the radio
and Philadelphia on Sports Radio when he guaranteed the Eagles
are gonna win the game, then backpedaled after he made
the guarantee. I don't mind that. I think you should
guarantee it win if you're the Eagles. I like the
confidence you should expect to win every time you play
on the play the game. If you don't, you're messed up.
You suck your loser, and I don't like you. You've

(35:46):
got to defeatist attitude. Both these teams have been flea
bitten in recent weeks. The Cowboys in particular, played progressively
worse since they got rid of the cream puffs on
the schedule. Both these teams have played injury Bengo, and
that's a key factor here. They need to hire a
medicine man, get some remedies here with all these hobbled
players in Philly and in Dallas. And both these teams

(36:09):
got caught peeking ahead. And we always say this, if
you lose the game, that's a trap game because you
get caught looking ahead, you then have to come back
and you have to win the game. You're looking ahead
to Philadelphia. It's a weird thing that's going on under
Doug Peterson. They're eighteen and two when they score first,
score in the first quarter, not even when they scored first.
When they score in the first quarter, they're eighteen and two,

(36:30):
best record of the NFL since seventeen. When the Eagles
have been outscored uh or in the first quarter, they've
been outscored by thirteen points this season. What I'm trying
to say, second worst in the NFLS. They haven't gone
off the good starts. But the main reason, like the
Cowboys the Eagles, secondary is the blind leading the blind.
And even with the Mark Cooper not playing, I would

(36:51):
figure that Dallas is gonna have a bounce back game
on offense. They actually moved the ball well last week
they they against the Jet they just didn't start the game. Well.
The money is heavy le tilted on the Eagles. You
can make a lot of cash betting against dummies in
the public on the the When the public bets underdogs
like this, you can want a lot of money on it. Uh.
I don't love the Cowboys, but I do relish the

(37:13):
chance to be on the side of the bookie the
wise guys. So how about ma'am? Cowboys Cowboys thirty Eagles
twenty three. Penny also likes Dallas as well. Last one
just a programming note. I don't want a baseball game.
I love, I love Game seven. I want to focus
on the Cowboys and Eagles. If there's a baseball game

(37:33):
on Sunday, I won't be able to focus on that.
Your right handling be getting a workout? Wow, alright, Monday
Night Football, New England six and oh at the j
E t s sucks, sucks, suck one in four it's
on ESPN with Joe Tessa Tour, who is David Gastgard's idol,
and booker McFarlane. Well, we need to acknowledge what happened

(37:54):
last week because the Penny was the one that said
they don't need the points, they don't want the points.
They the New York and Jets over the Dallas Cowboys.
I took the Jets to Yeah, but you didn't say
that they would win, out right, the penny did. No.
I took the Jets. No, no no, no, but the Penny
said they would didn't matter. I mean, it doesn't matter
where they car. You don't say money line. I didn't
say money line. I said take the Jets, take the Patriots.

(38:16):
I can at least acknowledge, all right, But as far
you're getting me distracted? Double all right? What's wrong with you?
I mean you know what I mean? You know you
go googlely eyed over there? What's I mean? Stop it?
All right? Can I can I talk? Yes? Yes, you
can continue? All right? So I mentioned the Patriots and night,
and that point favorite it'll be sixty three and cloudy

(38:37):
at MetLife Stadium on Monday night. That it is the forecast.
I'm gonna take the Patriots. I do not love this,
but I am gonna do it. The Patriots are six
and old. They have an injury ravage turnstile of an
offensive line, but it has not mattered because of a
proper mix of coaching. And let's be honest, you're playing

(38:57):
dog food opponents. Is a beautiful nation for New England. Unfortunately,
the Patriots defense is as good as it gets. They
create turnovers, they don't regularly give up big plays. On
the last week, Golden Tate had a big pass play,
but that was more of a bobbled past that was
almost knocked away by the defender. It was a fifty
fifty ball. Uh And And secondly, I wanted to find

(39:21):
a reason about on the Jets. I love in a
divisional game. I've always said, when you get over a
touchdown in a divisional game, you don't ask questions. You
take the points. But there are exceptions of the rule.
I couldn't find a really good reason. While you know,
Sam Donald, the Cinderella story is wonderful. He really only
played well in the first half last week. He didn't
do much in the second half. And that win against

(39:42):
the Cowboys will have no bearing on what happens this week,
all right, it won't. If anything, it will help fuel
Bill Belichick to go Defcon one. The Jets are not
a hard team to defend, and they've got the Patriots
have a great defense. I mean, it's pretty simple. I
know very little about ex in those football but I
know if you key in on shutting down Levy on

(40:04):
Bell and Belichick has always done this. He's like, all right,
we'll take away the other team's best player and we'll
handicap them. We'll have you know, like rush limball, one
arm tied behind their back, and we'll see if they
can succeed with the other players. They have no other
real playmakers other than Levy on Bell, Bill Belichick. With
extra time, and remember the Patriots have that extra time
they played last Thursday. That is a lethal situation. And

(40:28):
even with a huge number, and I don't like it.
I'll be very uncomfortable with it, and I would much
rather be on the side of the Jets. I would
much rather be on the Jets. But I'm telling you
the Patriots on the right side here. Uh, it'll be
somewhat close for a half. Patriots will pull away. Similar
that game against the Giants, Patriots twenty three Jets twelve.
They'll barely cover the number, but they'll cover it. Penny

(40:51):
is going with the Jets back to back weeks. Let's go,
all right, guess can you can you just like one
day stop sending me food porn pictures? Please? One day?
Can you do that? Would you prefer that since your
other kind of adult content? Well, I did you. I've
been sending me that also. I see there, I see
a big fan of Antonio Brown there, I see that.

(41:12):
All right, listen, have a great weekend, Good luck with
your bets. Uh. This has been a little quicker edition
of this podcast, but blame Gascon. He showed up a
little ate, so we didn't have as much time in
the studio. But have a great week and will be
back on the radio the Magic Radio Box Sunday night
into Monday two am in the East on Monday eleven
pm in the West on Sunday night, and enjoy your weekend.
