cool, cool thing. They dogreat things to help the kids out.
I love that. And of courseif you're like golf, drive Shack is
a place to go for that.So and of course is that time of
year. Yes, Vite attacks program. So the United Away teamed up with
the IRRs and they provide a lotof free locations throughout the counties actually throughout

seventy five thousand dollars a year, they can help you out. They'll tell

(07:40):
And another golf tournament. This iseven further out. It is a charity
golf tournament benefiting the Children's Healing Institute. It's gonna be happening Saturday, April
twenty seventh at the Village Golf Clubin Royal Palm Beach, so definitely check
that out. Speaking of checking thingsout, I want to welcome my guests
for today, I have got Gregquaddlebom CEO from Quantum House. Good morning,
(08:03):
Good morning deb, thank you forhaving me well, thanks for coming
in. So tell the listeners andI what is Quantum House because a lot
of people are new to the area. Wow. Well, Quantum House is
a caring and supportive home away fromhome for families whose children are receiving treatment
in Pombage County for a serious medicalcondition. So when a family crosses our
(08:24):
threshold, we offer all the comfortsof home so they can focus on their
child. Now, Quantum House playsa vital role in their continuum of healthcare
by providing those social determinants of health. And what I mean by that those
social determinants are the family unit staystogether, a comfortable place to rest your
(08:50):
head, where do I wash myclothes? What about a hot meal?
And really really important in this communalstyle living that we have is a social
inclusion. So we provide a home. I like that. I think it's
lovely. So say someone's child isthere for cancer treatment and they are from
(09:13):
Orlando, they can come and staythere for free while their child receives treatment.
That's correct. Pompage County has becomequite a destination for pediatric health care.
And I will talk a little bitabout this later, but how much
the Quantum House has grown to meetthat need. But that is true.
People do travel near and far tocome get treatment in Pombage County and the
(09:39):
Quantum House provides that home for themto stay while their child's are receiving that
treatment. Yeah, and I thinkthe listeners may be familiar with the concept,
and as Ronald McDonald's house concept,it would be the same concept.
That's right. We are just ourown independent pediatric high hospitality house. And
(10:01):
in regards to a pediatric specific hospitalityhouse, we're the only one of our
kind between Miami and Orlando. Asyou mentioned geography, but with the destination
care that we're receiving in Pombach County, we're finding families coming from all over
the world to travel here for ourspecific treatments that we have. So they
(10:22):
need a place to stay, theyneed a Quantum House. Oh absolutely,
Yeah. Can you imagine flying infrom another country allow, and of course
not only expensive the medical care eventlike you're housing and like you said,
the food and everything exactly and thatwe are. We're just part of the
fabric of Palm Beach County and whetherthe people in the community support us through
(10:48):
their volunteerism or through their philanthropic support. There's so many ways to support us
and support the families during this journey. Well, that was gonna be my
next question. What are some ofthe ways that people can support Quantum House
because I know we talked a littlebit before show about like like high school
kids that need their volunteer hours theycan come help. Absolutely, we rely
(11:09):
heavily on volunteerism and the support ofour community. So for the volunteers,
we invite you to come and participatein any way that's meaningful for you.
It could be interacting with the familiesand children and doing arts and crafts,
or a program you mentioned high schoolgroups. We high school groups come in
(11:33):
all the time. They come inas you know, with you know,
adult supervision, and it could bepreparing a meal. It could be a
combination of that and just fun activities. We even have people that come in
and just help us take care ofour property if they want to come in
and just and just come in andhelp. So I think that's fantastic.
(11:58):
Yeah, So, now do peoplebring their therapy dogs there. Therapy dogs
are one of the favorite things theyI don't want to say every day,
but almost every day, if notmore than one a day. And I
guess every animal is really a therapyanimal in so many ways. You remember
(12:18):
these families, Some of them arehere for a short time, some are
here for extended periods of time, months at a time, and there's a
very good chance that they left afour legged family member back home. So
it is very comforting for them tojust be able to interact with those therapy
(12:39):
dogs. It's just it's a lotof fun. It's very very sweet.
I would think I think it wouldbe. Yes, my friend has a
greyhound that she is a therapy dog. Great, and they go to the
retirement homes and like you said,a lot of the folks that have retired
their had pets for years and theyjust love it when the dog comes to
visit. Yes, all the kissesare welcome, absolutely so anyway, so
(13:03):
that is a really cool way peoplecan volunteer. How do they reach out
to you to do that, well, I would say the easiest way to
learn about these opportunities is going toour website at Quantumhouse dot org. That's
Quantumhouse dot org. And you're goingto see so many ways to participate.
(13:26):
And I will say that what effortis that you enjoy doing, we really
really appreciate it. There's no contributionor effort that's too small, and you
will find you know something that's meaningfulfor you. Let's say you go on
to our website and you find ourwish list. Well, think about what
the items are that you use inyour house. Now we have thirty families,
(13:52):
we go through a lot of householditems. Now, maybe it is
it is feelingropic, maybe it's supportingone of our events, or maybe it's
even hosting your own event. Wecall them third party events where the proceeds
(14:13):
from your event actually come to theQuantum House and benefit our mission. An
example of that as we sit herein the month of March is Jersey Mikes
has taken that idea to a wholenew level. So tell me about Jersey
Mikes. I'm quite intrigued with theirtheir program. Well, you probably have
seen billboards, you've seen advertising onTV. Jersey Mikes nationally does a month
(14:39):
of giving and in Palm Beach County, we are so blessed as Quantum House
to partner with Jersey Mikes for thepast eleven years to be the beneficiaries and
their partner in the month of Giving. And quite simply, when you go
(15:01):
to Jersey Mikes, you'll be giventhe opportunity to round up on your bill
or just make a designated dollar fivedollars contribution. Now that may not sound
like much, but do not underestimatethe power of that slightest benefit and the
(15:22):
twenty seven Jersey Mic locations that areparticipating. So imagine ten people go,
they do five dollars a day timestwenty seven locations. Absolutely, that's a
nice amount of money that's going tocome to you guys for that one day
only. Absolutely, And I mentionedthat we partner with them, We really
do co brand this entire month. And so when you come in, you
(15:46):
see the Quantum House, you'll seethe signage, you'll see our volunteers working
there. When you do that, your money is staying here locally, and
one hundred percent of that comes rightto the Quantum House helps us fulfill our
mission for lessening those burdens for thosefamilies going through that medical journey. So
I think that's fantastic because right toQuantum House Jersey Mice is really stepping up.
(16:11):
I would encourage a lot of otherbusinesses to do the same thing,
right and or, like you said, individuals if they want to host a
Peyton sip party and the benefits cometo you guys, that's exactly right.
In May, we have Jared PartonReal Estate Group is doing a golf tournament
and so that all of that benefitcomes right to us and we just really
(16:33):
really appreciate the community who does that. And that's just a good example of
one that's coming up. Well, yeah, and that's another way. People
can also volunteer with them to helpyou out. Yes, yeah, I'm
able to drive the golf cart. That's about that's about my skill. I
did volunteer many years ago to agolf tournament and my job was to watch
the hole in one. So there'stwo of us because they have spotters,
(16:56):
and that person who won the holein one would win a car. Okay,
so you had to make sure. And like the golfers are so far
away from where you're posted, Sowe're sitting there, all of a sudden
a ball comes up and hits thetop of the hill, goes to the
little cup and rolls right around theedge and down off the hill, like
are we telling you no, itjust didn't go in. It it didn't
(17:18):
go in. You won't tell meit all. It was a circle around
halfway. And then I was like, oh, yeah, well, and
Jared Parton's golf tournament, it's atwenty five thousand dollars prize for the hole
and one that's not a bad prize. It's not a bad prize. So
it adds a great element of fun. Oh it does. It gets people
involved, and what a fun wayto raise funds for you guys. Yeah,
(17:38):
yeah, So I love these kindsof concepts of raising funds absolutely.
Now, while we're still talking aboutJersey Mikes, we talked about the Month
of Giving, But on March twentyseven, they designate a day of Giving,
and the whole month really does buildup to that. On March twenty
seven, seven of the participating franchisesin Palm Beach County and in the Treasure
(18:03):
Coast as well up to Vero willdonate one hundred percent it's one hundred percent
of all of their sales for thatday to the Quantum House as part of
their Month of Giving. So Ijust really encourage everybody to think about that
day. Mark that day on yourcalendar. So this coming Wednesday, we
(18:26):
see businesses that will buy lunch fortheir staff, families, buy dinner that
night with your friends, putting somethingtogether, think about that day, circle
it on your calendar. The impactcannot be overstated. And we just really
really appreciate Jersey Mikes and this beautifulpartnership that we share. Oh absolutely,
(18:49):
and I love there. I getthat the seven A top and it's delicious
and it's fresh, it's made rightthere in front of you, and whatever
you want in it, they'll accommodatefor you. So I think that's fantastic.
Yeah, like all twenty seven locationsare doing that. That's fantastic.
Yes, yes, So folks goout on March twenty seventh, get your
lunch, get your dinner, getlunch and dinner. That's fine. Absolutely,
Greg's okay with that. Yes,yes, so that is awesome.
(19:12):
And of course, how can someoneelse get more involved, like as far
as feeding the families, because Iknow that like sometimes the fire rescue guys
come and make dinner. Yes,I'm glad you brought that up. When
people ask how can I participate andI mentioned earlier how volunteerism is really at
(19:33):
the heart of our service at QuantumHouse. One of the one of the
activities and it has become part ofthe fabric of Palm Beache County is something
we call chef for a day atQuantum House. Groups friends, businesses,
(19:56):
do team building, company orientation, faith based organizations, the high school groups
will come together and prepare dinner everysingle night of the year for the Quantum
House, every single night we havescheduled it out, yes, And that
(20:21):
is one of those things and Ithink it's the truth in one of the
paradox of volunteering is people come expectingto be givers, and they come and
they're going to do this. Theexperience is so enriching that they leave receivers
(20:41):
and they leave fulfilled and that reallygoes a long way and explaining why we
have the repeat groups that come backtime and time again to cook the dinners.
When it is Quantum House. Thisis a house. And I know
(21:02):
in my home so much just revolvesaround the dining room table and the kitchen,
and Quantum House is no different. It's just a lot bigger. So
that is one of the more beautifulthings to witness every day is people bring
in and there's something about bringing foodand taking care of families interacting with them.
(21:27):
It's so rewarding and it's a simplething to do. And how do
you find out about that? Youcan contact us. But on our website
also it has the chef for aday and it will open up the calendar.
You can look. You can projectout and say I want to do
it June fifth or because you'll seethat the calendar does fill. And our
(21:51):
community is just so generous and soloving. It's just a beautiful place to
be. And I'm to reassure thelisteners that if you're not a good cook,
you can purchase and bring you canput those to journals in the oven.
Y's okay, that's a very goodpoint. I want to go back
when we talk about the Quantum House. We opened in two thousand and one.
(22:11):
We had ten suites and that reallymet the need of the pediatric healthcare
in Pobbish County. Well, PobbageCounty has grown. Our healthcare, as
I mentioned, especially in pediatrics, has grown so much that in twenty sixteen
we expanded and we now have thirtybeautiful sweets on a very large compound.
(22:34):
And so when you're talking about preparingmeals, you are preparing meals for sometimes
seventy eighty people. So it doestake a teap effort. And sometimes bringing
in prepared food is often the easiest, you know, if you wanted to
do it that way, Oh definitely. And I knew like fresh Market,
(22:56):
Whole Foods. Whole Food especially doeswonderful big family meals. And you can
get multiple varieties, so they canbe like chicken and broccoli in one and
you know, salmon and green beansin other words, so you have a
variety for folks. You know, obviously I'm not the one one that does
not cook. I can bake.I can go bake them all the cookies
and cakes they want. Someone elsebe charged to the dinner part. That's
(23:18):
right, that's right. And alsowhat a beautiful way to support the restaurants
in our community as well. Butyou know, we have grills there,
we have people cook, we havepeople bring in a combination of the two.
It's whatever your team puts together.I love it, so I think,
and I think that's just such agreat idea, a good a good
way for folks to connect with them. And like I've always read that like
(23:41):
when you volunteer and donate your time, like you said, you get so
much more back. Just it's soweird, and it's a mental it's a
mental health thing for you. It'sabsolutely true if your mental health as well
as helping somebody else out who's ina really difficult time. Absolutely, I
have seen that when people are strugglingwith an issue in their own lives,
(24:04):
the best thing to do is gohelp others. Oh absolutely, I would
agree because I've as you know,I've gone through lots of different things.
Listeners know about all the different cancersand stuff. So when I focus on
somebody else, get you out ofyour own head in a way, and
then you're doing a good thing forsomebody else, not necessarily just to do
the good thing, but to behelpful. And then, like you said,
in return, it's just amazing. And I am sure a lot of
(24:27):
these folks stay and have dinner withthe families, Oh absolutely, And then
you get that camaraderie and they geta break and talking to somebody else about
something different, yes, than theirchild's illness. That's right. They definitely
need that mental break as well, that's right. Absolutely. It is a
very vibrant and robust community at theQuantum House. It is communal living,
(24:51):
it's interactive, it's everything in yourhome. I love it. Well,
speaking of everything in the home, let's circle back real quick to the wish
list on website. Can people likego there and then link to their Amazon
and buy it and have it sentright to you. You'll have it sent
right to us. Absolutely, absolutely, that's my kind of shop. Yes,
And I think there's also opportunities ifwhere you shop where like you can
(25:15):
just like round up or a donationthrough some of the retail shops as well.
But that is definitely a great wayto do it. And just think
about those practical household items that brushjob. Imagine the amount of laundry detergent
that we provide because we provide everythingfor the families, you know what is
(25:37):
laundry detergent, the soaps, thebleaches and everything like that. And thirty
families at a time, not thirtypeople, thirty families. That is quite
a lot. That's very impressive. So thank you for all the good work
you do in the community. It'svery much appreciated, obviously very needed.
As we just usually keep expanding andexpanding and of course, big shout out
thank you to Jersey Mics for theirmonth of giving and of course they're big
(26:00):
Day of Giving on the twenty seventh. Yes, so I want to encourage
your listeners to go out and definitelybuy your lunch at your dinner at Jersey
MIC's that day, so all themoney can go to Quantum House and Greg.
Before we go, let's get awebsite. The website again for folks
to go to is www dot Quantumhousedot org and you'll find all those opportunities
(26:22):
on there, as simple as volunteeringopportunities or just ways to donate. And
of course they can go to yourwebsite, but they can also find you
in the different social media. Sowhere are you at on there? I
would say that's where we are probablyin the most robust arena is in our
social media. Look for the QuantumHouse Instagram, the Facebook, the X.
(26:44):
You will also you'll not only learnabout the things that are going on
at Quantum House, but especially duringthis month, Quantum House through us are
offering discounts like you know, fivedollars off your meal and things like that,
and it's a it's it's very verydynamic. Please consider liking us on
the Instagram and the facebooks and you'llsee all the great things that are happening
(27:08):
