Winter's Tale, so it's a fun one and let's see.
For more information go to pebe Shakespeare dot org or
you can follow them on Facebook and they do like
(00:50):
live weather updates the night of the shows, and the

and freezy. There's which is nice. So the Mandel Public
Library's got lots of fun things going on this summer
as well. Coming up on Wednesday, July ninth, it is

award winning journalist Leslie Gray Streeterer. She's introducing her new book,
Family and Other Calamities, a novel, so again that's starting
at six thirties. Even want to sign up for that.

folks find out more about that, and you do need

of course, Saturday July nineteenth, there's some wet land dipnetting
going to be happening and that's at River Bend Park
in Jupiter. I love all the fun stuff that's happening outside.
Then later on, okay, Healing Nature Center on July nineteenth
(02:15):
is celebrating World Snake Day with snakes around the world.
That's gonna be happening at two pm. That was good
for all ages, and it's five dollars per person. Let's see.
Also then July twenty six, nine thirty is Reptiles and

during the summer. They've got like the tea ceremonies where
you can go on alarm, like the Raking the Gardens
ceremony for the Zen Gardens. And coming up on July
twenty six, this one is the art of Cocadama. It's
Kok e dam a k pronouncing that incorrectly, and it's
how they grow the plants and like little moss Ball,
(02:59):
it's so cool. So if you don't check that out,
go to Morecomi dot org and that's all listed there
for you. And then of course throughout the week they
have tai Chi happening at the South County Civic Center.
That's Wednesdays at eight thirty and Tuesdays and Thursdays at

it's free admission, so everyone check that out. They do
(03:19):
do functional fitness at the Moricomie Park in del Rey
that is Tuesdays and Thursdays at eight thirty. Again free
admission for that one, but you do need to reserve
a space because the pavilion doesn't have that much room,
so ifyone. Check those things out. Go to Ppcparks dot
com and there's more details there for you. And of
course we talked about this last week. This is gonna
be so cool. Saint Lucie County is offering their free
(03:41):
sea turtle nest excavation walks. So I've not done this yet.
I definitely want to do one. I do the one
where you watch the turtles lay the eggs, but I've
not done the one where there you see the hatch,
which I just think is so cool and to sign
up for it, you do need to register and registrations
opening on July tenth at eight am. Go to slhikes
dot org and it's all listened there for you and
(04:03):
it fills up quickly because it's a limited number, you know,
for safety for us and for the turtles and when
you're also when you're at SLC Hikes, they have all
the different hikes, paddles, they do kayaking, canoeing as well. Now,
lots of different things and they're all on the website
there and they tell you, like what age group they're
good for, so I like that. They have one that
Eric does and it's like a little scrub preserve. But
(04:25):
in the beginning part of it they now have like
the disc golf, so he also does you like a
little training on how to play disc golf, which is fine.
And then we spoke to Benji from Palm Beach County
Environmental Resources. So they've got lots of cool things coming there.
Has an off road bike ride coming up on Thursday,
July tenth at eight thirty that's gonna be happening the
(04:46):
Cypress Creek Natural Area. There's a sunset hike at six
thirty pm Saturday July twelfth, that's the high Ridge Scrub Area.
Sunrise Trail runs six am. Because it's gonna be hot
later in the day, that's going to get that out
of the way early. That's going to be Saturday, July nineteenth,
And simply go to pbcerm dot com and all the
(05:06):
details are listed there for you. And if it's too
hot for you to be outside, like for me, you
can do pickleball inside. So some of the rec centers
are offering indoor picklebore the indoor pickleball West Boyton, Westgate
and West Jupiter Recreation Centers all three are offering different
days with inside classes in the nice air conditioning, so
(05:28):
it can't go wrong with that. And of course our
friends over the Norton Museum. Every Saturday now through the
end of August, it's going to be freed mission for
pomp Beach County residents and if you live in the
city of West Palm Beach, it's freed mission on Saturdays
all year round. So some really cool programs going on,
and you can go to Norton dot org and find
all the different exhibitions and classes and things that have
(05:50):
going on. And every Friday, they do the art after dark,
and the first one of the month is always their
Jazz Night, so if you're jazz fan, that's the one
you want to sign up for. And of course just
enjoyed last week the eight two Proud Life and Times
of the Temptations musical at the Cravis. And they have
lots of stuff going on throughout the summer, a lot
of stuff with Palm Beach, improv and of course next
(06:13):
year they have their Whole Cravis on Broadway series coming.
It's gonna be the Whiz Kimberly Akimbo. This is one
I want to see is called TWA's The Night Before
and it's done by Circusole, so it's kind of like
a Christmas theme, so I can't wait to see that one.
Something like a Hot MJ the Musical Beautiful Noise choir Man,
and you can go to Cravis dot org and sign
(06:35):
up to buy those. They also have their Lunch and
Learn series now out and tickets you can buy the
whole season off for their classical music, and then they
have the young musicians that do classical as well, which
I think is really cool. So lots of fun stuff
happening there and then we have a reminder City Fort
Pierce is doing community lectures. So the next one coming
(06:56):
up is Know Your Rights as a Tenant Part two
and that's going to be in July seventeenth, and then
July thirty first is the Credit Repair Workshop. For more info,
reach out to Caitlin seven seven to two, seven four
to two, nine eight three five and she has all
the details there for you. And of course the Treasure
Coast is also launching their summer thing. I love this.
(07:17):
It's the locals only discount thing they do every summer
where you get into different restaurants and stuff and hotels
at discounted rate. And for more information on that, simply
go to visit Indianrivercounty dot com and it's all listed
on there for you. Speaking of information, I want to
welcome my guests for today. I have doctor Camenio from
t Leroy Jefferson Medical Society and doctor Flora. Can you
(07:40):
pronounce your name for.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Us, Doctor Flora benzi Angel.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Thanks, I want to welcome you both.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
Good morning.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
My name doctor Communiam. How long have you been with
the society.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Oh, I've been an active member of the Medical Society
going on six years now and currently I'm the vice president,
and previously I was the COVID nineteen task force lead
during the pandemic. So the organization itself has been in
existence for many decades now continue to serve the populations
(08:11):
within Palm Beach County through our various programs.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
So yeah, so for the listeners to may be new
to the area, because we always have new people moving
in all the time. Doctor Tee ley Roy Jefferson actually
started the society, right, the bicycle doctor, right.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
So the medical Society is named after him because, as
you said, he was the first half American doctor here
in Palm Beach County. He literally would ride his bicycle
to visit the different residents and provide you know, home
care as he could at that time. And so that
was the inspiration for this Medical Society and we strive
(08:46):
to continue that same mission with our different communities here
in Palm Beach County today.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
I think that's fantastic. So now your specialty in medicine
is infectious disease, correct.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Yes, might say that great, Yes, infectious diseases.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Yeah, obviously COVID.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Well yes, I mean certainly after COVID there was you know, influenza,
there was RSV, So there's a lot of you know,
bad viruses going around, but also you know, we see
patients with lots of bacterial infections. You know, people wo
end up in the hospital typically with you know, pneumonia,
with you know, diabetic foot infections, that kind of thing.
(09:23):
So we actually have a few infectious to see doctors
at TLJ Medical Society and along with all the other subspecialties,
including a few dentists, one of whom is with us
here today and others. So we're very excited to be here.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Oh, Mariicle, well, thank you for coming in. And doctor Florica,
thanks for coming back in. So we talked like, gosh,
your maybe before your specialty is general dentistry. Ye, general dentistry.
So how long have you been with the society.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
I've been with a society almost ten years now.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Oh that's so cool.
Speaker 5 (09:55):
Yes, yes, yes, I joined actually from a member of
Acchimayobi who is also a member I actually talk to
me about it and an active member of it ever since,
and I just love what the organization stands for and
helping out the community, especially the underserved people in the
community and teaching them more about opportunities that they can
do in healthcare specifically.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Oh, I like it well, and I know I've also
spoke to the physical therapy cut ladies, so they're awesome.
Oh yes, and I make it go. Yeah. And doctor Walker,
Monica Walker, came in and talked with me, like, so
you have general practitioners, you have physical therapists, occupational therapists,
lots of different medical genres, if you will represent it
in the.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
So side of way, nurses, eye doctors, yes.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Oh, white doctors of course. Oh yeah, I forgot about
that and then just went to mine over the weekend. Oh.
I always tell people go to get your eyes chucked
every year, and they're like really, and like, yes, every
year because it can change that quickly without you realizing it.
So especially because I wear contacts a lot, so it's
always good to have that checked. But so obviously the
science gilled lots of different things. The big thing you
guys do is every summer you do a great job
(10:59):
about going out in the community and providing those back
to school like a healthfare. So the back to school shots,
dental checkups and lots of other things are like a
blood pressure checks, all those good things in the community.
So where you're gonna be doing it this year and
what date?
Speaker 5 (11:14):
We're doing it at the JFK Middle School in Revia
Beach August ninth from nine am to two pm. So
JFK Middle School this year in Revera Beach August ninth,
from nine am to two pm.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Do people need to sign up ahead of time or
can they just show up?
Speaker 5 (11:33):
Ideally sign up so we have a better idea also
because we want to see their status in terms of
insurance and things like that. But everything can be found
on our website t LMJS.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
Dot org, TSA Medical Society dot org.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
That's right, very cool, and of course you also on
social media, correct most certainly, yes, they can certainly look
us up on Facebook, Instagram, t Leroy Jefferson Medical Society.
All I get well. Of course, these are programs you
offer every year, so when people come and they sign
up ahead of time, you do the vaccines, the vaccinations
(12:08):
for the students, but you also check out other family
members and offer health services to them as well.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Correct, Yes, that's correct. And actually our theme this year
is healthy hearts and healthy minds, so we're actually doing
a little bit of an increased focus on cardiovascular health
specifically you know, for the families of the children who
are coming in. But the nuts and bolts of the
health fare are the annual physicals for the school children
(12:38):
and that is also including as doctor Flora mentioned, dental screening,
eye screening, and we do audiology as well as hearing screening.
So we do all three along with the physical exam,
and the student leaves the fair with that, along with
any additional things that they may need, including access, you know,
(13:01):
to a vaccine if they're in need of a vaccine,
which is very important. We want to make sure that
families know that we still need all our vaccines and
the parents.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
This year in.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
The Vein, in keeping with our theme of the heart,
we will have free CPR classes there and we will
also have free HIV testing as well. So and I
believe doctor Floya, we have a mammogram.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Most certainly they'll be a mammogram van. So there's very private.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Yeah, So we'll be offering a lot of different things
for the families of the children when they come.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
What kind of like that's a one stop shop. You
can everybody there. That's so cool. Well, and as a
two time breast cancer survivor, they found it on a mammogram.
There was never a lump, and that's how they that's
why I'm still here. They checked it early. It checked
me early because it's a family history. Saw that little
spot and they're like, you know, we don't like the
look of that, we need to check that out. And
sure enough, you know, came back. But it was stage zero,
(13:59):
so likely early, and was very fortunate in the second
time stage one. But again we're catching it on a mammogram.
That's and if I had not had that mammogram early,
I don't know, it'd probably be like stage four or
something when they finally found it, you know what I mean.
So I always recommend people, you know, go get squished.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Yes, yes, definitely we have.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
So it's like a self hug exactly.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
I'm glad we have the opportunity to be able to
provide that to the community because, yeah, I unfortunate a
lot of people in the community they don't have access
that care.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
Definitely, Oh definitely. And of course, like we've talked, the
mind and your heart are so important as well, and
we've been doing a lot of talking on the show,
but the past several months about mental health and mental
health awareness and acceptance. So I have a friend. She
takes her medication and she's fine. If she doesn't need
a medication, you know, she gets super agitated and stuff
(14:51):
like that. And it's it's like the same if you
break your arm, you're gonna get the arm. You know,
you gotta have a cast. We get the arm set.
Same thing your mental health, you'll go see a dog.
If you need medication, you do it. You need the
talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy. It's available for everybody. We
just need to let people know about it. And that
is so as my friend's daughter says, it's okay not
(15:11):
to be okay, And I think the students are getting
that message far faster than grown people. Yes, And one
of my friends is a teacher and her students will
come in sometimes and they're upset because something's going on,
and so they're like, she's trying to get settled down
to start class. So the thing is, okay, do you
want to vent or do you want me to fix it?
(15:34):
So she asks them that vent please, She got two
minutes and they just tell whatever, and then they start
class and now that's something they think needs fixed. Then
they'll tell her and then as a group in the class,
they'll come up with ideas to help fix it. So
I think it's just so smart, you know.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
Beautiful, especially giving them the option.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
Sometimes people just want to talk it out, vent it
out right, and so that it's great that she gives
them the outlet for that.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Oh yeah, and then when they want to invent, the
other kids look like, we listen, but we don't judge.
That's right, They're just adorable. I'm just like, oh my gosh,
me and my grown friends need to take notes.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Yes, no, it is important to allow the children, especially
to know that it's okay to talk about things that
may not be okay. And and that's the good thing
about screenings. It familiarizes the children to the process of,
you know, meeting someone like a doctor Flora who is
a family general dentist who will talk to you very
(16:33):
kindly and talk to you. Are you having any issues
in your mouth? Have you noticed, you know, any anything?
And this, you know, this will be repeated throughout the day.
During the healthfare. When they go for the ear screenings,
you know, someone will talk to the children ask them
about can you you know hear this? Can you hear that?
The same with the vision screenings, are there certainly because
we know that, you know, any deficiency in all of
(16:54):
those three areas, your your your vision, or your hearing
or in your mouth can affect you know, your overall
health and how you do on a day to day basis,
whether in school or not. So we're very fortunate to
do this, and I just want to remind everyone that
we are doing this in collaboration with JFK Middle School
during what's called their Viking Bash. They were kind enough
(17:18):
to let us go in with them. So this is
going to be a very large event with a lot
of school children. It's a back to school event right
before school starts, so a big part of it is
you know, back to school orientation, but also back to
school you know annual screenings, and so we're looking forward
to it and.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
It's perfect that you're doing it all together because they
need all those things to go back to school.
Speaker 5 (17:40):
Yes, exactly, So they get the screenings, like doctor Communio said,
and then also they get a backpack at the end
with all the goodies that they need to get school
started off on the right foot.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
I really want to backpack. So for the listeners that
are coming, we need to go online to the website
and sign up pre register just so you make sure
of everything set up for them, it goes a little
bit smoother.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
Right exactly.
Speaker 5 (18:02):
I mean watkins are always welcome, but yes, ideally sign
up ahead on our website or on Facebook Seeley Roy
Jefferson Medical Society.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
And again just to emphasize, we are focused on uninsured
or underinsured individuals, but we are more than happy to
take on those who do have coverage. So this is
an event for everyone across the board. But we really
really want to get medical access to those who really
need it. But you know, please everyone come on out
(18:31):
on August ninth to JFK Middle School. Looking forward to seeing.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
You well, definitely, And I always tell people that go
out and take advantage of these things in the community.
And of course I talked a few weeks ago with
Joff from the Riverbridge International. Just a reminder for everybody.
Every Saturday, they're still doing it every Saturday, the Old
Boyt and Beach Mall they're doing the free food drives
(18:55):
so if you need if you're short on food and
you need food, you can just drive there like right
only at nine o'clock. They start it for volunteers who
are going to help sort the food. If you get
there between like five and six am, let's start sorting
the food. But then they start putting it delivering to
the people in the cars around nine am.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Very nice.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Yeah, so he said, the last time we talked, they
have we're getting two thousand families awake. There's that many
people in our community that are that that are struggling.
So he's like, don't struggle, come out, get the food.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
They have it.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Yes, and if you have the time to volunteer, they
totally welcome you come into volunteer. Which brings me to
you guys. I'm sure you guys like volunteers for te
le Rod Jefferson as well.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
Always we have some volunteers signed up already, so we're
very fortunate for that. As far as physician volunteers, always
great to have them. We just have to do a
background check on them. But I can once again, you
can check out our website te Leroy TLJ Medical Society
dot org. TLJ Medical Society dot org to sign up
(19:57):
so that we can get you registered, especially all physicians,
healthcare really anybody in a healthcare field to sign up
to a volunteer. But then also we welcome high school
students who also want to volunteer. We can go on
our website t Lgmedicalsociety dot org and we can talk
to one of our directors and they can help guide
(20:18):
you accordingly. So August ninth, JFK Middle School, Riverea Beach,
nine am to two pm and food is provided cause we.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Forget about foods Friday food. There's food wait, I'm definitely there.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
Yes, yes, So for the for the school age children
that we'll be coming through, we will be giving them meals.
And to doctor Flores's point, yeah, this this kind of
event would not be even workable without you know, having
a chance to work with so many different groups. So
as this is our twenty fourth year doing it, we
we we have a lot of support. We have the
(20:53):
Black Nurse Practitioners of Palm Beach, we have a lot
of different organizations who who are coming in and really
to make this a success, including a lot of the
people who you mentioned who are being on your show,
who are tied into TLDA Medical Society. So we're very excited.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
And of course for businesses and folks listening businesses who
like to sponsor your different events, they can reach out
to you as well.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Most certainly.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
Yes, we have great sponsors like we have Jack and
Jill Diabetes Coalition, just to name a few. So many
sponsors we're so grateful for and we can't ever have
enough because you know, there's so much, so many people
to serve. So once again, you can reach us on
our website t l J Medicalsociety dot org. We would
love to have you sponsor, and of course we would
(21:39):
mention your name on our websites on all the programs
and what have you and T shirts. We even have
T shirts at the event, so your name will also
be mentioned on there. And I think it's great for
the community to see the different organizations around supporting our people.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Oh absolutely, And speaking of the society, for folks like
doctors and medical folks who have not joined you guys
offer you do goll these really cool programs in the community.
But then you also like help mentor each other and
support each other. So I know you have different events
like you have Lunch and Learned series throughout them different months,
you have big like award nights and galas galas.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
That's right, that's right. We have had a lot of
what's become landmark events in Palm Beach County through the
years now where you know our science of success events.
You know, we've had. One of our biggest events is
having thousands of school age children from southern Florida all
come down to a high school on one day and
(22:39):
and get to meet different healthcare professionals. They move from
room to room meeting all these different healthcare professionals, and
then they get to meet our speaker, which is usually
someone amazing you know, previous Surgeon General or you know
some some some great healthcare professional. So yeah, we have
lots of programs that are set to not only encourage,
(23:00):
but to mentor school age children into careers in health care.
We do go out into the community as well many times,
like we are doing with this health fare, but we
have mentoring activities and for as you point out, for
the healthcare providers ourselves, we do have networking events as well.
So it's not only about supporting our next generation, but
about supporting each other.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Well.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
I think that's perfect because as we've all noticed, world
is very stressful lately, yes, and so anything we can
do to help each other, like the one lady years ago,
is in a like a therapy session for the cancer.
One of the of the cancer ladies, she said that,
you know, her neighbor wanted to help. And when she
went through her breast cancer, she had the big, the
(23:44):
fulm bilateral mistectomy, so you really can't lift your arms
and stuff for a while, so she wasn't her neighbor gentleal.
The neighbor wanted to help out. So she's like, really,
if you could take the garbage drag that can to
the curb and bring it back, because she she honestly
could not do that for like at least I don't know,
three or four weeks, and so it's been years and
(24:06):
he's still doing it because he wants to be able
to help. So I think in all of us there's
somebody who wants to help you. And the more people
we can help and reach out to each other, the
better it is for everybody. And I do think it's
really awesome that you offer all this mentoring service amongst yourselves,
but also for the students because you can see like,
(24:28):
do you want to be you know, infectious disease, you
want to be a dentist, you want to do eye doctor,
you know. So one of my friends grew up and
she's an eye doctor and I would have never thought
of that. Another one is like, she does the genetics,
and I was like, wow, Misty's a geneticist. That's so cool.
My friend's kids are nuclear engineers, yes, And then other
(24:51):
friends kids they're perfectly happy pulling up the most amazing
you know, coffee shot at the barista thing. I mean,
like really has their thing, you know. Another friend's daughter
is like and now in a big summer musical. So
it's so exciting to see them grow and find their
different talents.
Speaker 5 (25:09):
Yes, And that's one of the things that we love
about our organization is we allow these kids on an
opportunity to meet people for different backgrounds, different health care,
some places of a non healthcare profession, so that they
can see what's possible for them because some of them
they have no opportunity to see anything past, you know,
(25:30):
just their home life or what have you. So that's
one of the things I has kept me with teley
Roy Jefferson all this time, is because the organization is
so focused on helping the community, the students and the
high school students see the opportunity that could possibly be
theirs if they're you know, if they shadow mentor or
what have you get mentors.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
So of course there's another cool feature that Chieli wor
Jefferson Medical Society offers is for students, Like college level
students are getting into the fields. So say doctor Flair,
they want to do general dentistry or maybe even a
specialty dentistry, they can come and work with you in
your office, right and like shadow you.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
Most certainly yes, I mean always willing to have people coming.
I would say pretty much everybody in our organization would
be willing to have a students that's interested in that
particular field come, shadow them, come ask them questions, talk
about it, talk with the other team members in that office,
and see all the different aspects, because you never really
(26:32):
know what you think you want to be until you
see it. And sometimes they're surprised when they go into
an office and like, oh wow, I did you know
the specialty even the specialty even existed, and that maybe
what they maybe think about doing all along, and they
get a chance to see it and boom, it's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
Oh yeah, Like well, a couple of years ago we
found out that there is an oncology subspecialty in OBG
y N had no idea. I was like, Wow, okay,
that's that's cool. But okay, you find out things as
you go, so I think it's a maaz And I
had a roommate in college. She was going for physical
therapy and she'd done like she's like in her third
(27:06):
year I think three and a half years, and went
to do her practical practicum if you will, I guess,
and was back to the college within a couple of weeks,
and it was supposed to be like the whole semester.
She did not realize the kinds of injuries that people
would have that she would have to work with, that
that she'd be helping, and it was not I don't
(27:28):
know what she thought it was, but when she actually
went to do the hands on it was not a
good mix, not a good match. So she came back
and got a difference. She changed to her specialty.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
That's correct.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
But had she been able to come follow somebody in
their practice that first year, I think she would have
a better idea of what was happening exactly.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
I mean sometimes you have people, yeah, they finished a
program and they're like, oh my gosh, I don't think
this is what I wanted to do. And there's a
lot of money to go through some of these programs
and not be fully aware of what you're signing up for.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
You know, sometimes it's very glamorous on TV.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
I think that might have been in the media. A
little bit of both, actually, I think, but I like
the fact that they can come to your offices and
see that. And then of course part of the society
obviously you have the different programs, you do different initiatives.
So like doctor Comuenio you were mentioning you were the
lead during COVID. So as different things pop up in
the community, be it you know, prostate cancer awareness or
(28:25):
dental health awareness, you guys take turns and do events
in the community. Correct.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
For example, you know, we're wrapping up the month of June,
which is Men's Health month, and so you know, Tilja
Medical Society was out in Bohoki where you know, when
they had a men's Health Day along with a lot
of other vendors, and we had basically a very nice
(28:53):
personable moment when men in the crowd were able to
ask us in as men physicians for that particular event,
about various things including mental health. As you had mentioned
earlier to you know, sexual health for men to cancer
specifically prostate as you had mentioned. So you know, we
(29:13):
we do events like that based on opportunities you know,
that are presented to us, and so we try to
go near and far to do to do that, whether
it's screening for pregnant women with high blood.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Pressure, about mental narcotics.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, so yeah, we have CME classes where
physicians can listen into about opioid abuse and so yeah,
we really try to cover the gamut when it comes
to all the medical issues that we think are affecting
are the population here in Palm Beach County.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
So of course if somebody has an organization and they
want to collaborate with you, they can reach.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
Out absolutely absolutely. And one of the things that the
healthfare that we always have and this being our twenty
fourth year doing it, are lots of different vendors, as
doctor Flora mentioned, lots of different organization patents who come
and offer information, whether it's legal aid, whether it's you know,
home health services. You know, there's a lot of other
(30:10):
opportunities which is not directly medical, but sort of medical
adjacent that you know, the families will find very interesting
when they come to the health fair on August ninth.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Oh, I agree, I know. We do differents for the
radio stations. Sometimes we'll have like a medical company come
out and they hand out the little freebies and everybody
loves the squishy things what have you. But then you know,
Grandma gets her blood pressure checked and they're like, okay,
we need to follow up. Make sure you go back
to your dock. You know, a little high today, you know.
But they just you know, keeping people aware of their
health and like in tune with themselves in the community.
(30:44):
So again, before we go, let's get the information on
the day of the event and where they can go
to get more information.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (30:50):
So the annual back to School Health Fair JFK Middle
School in Rivera Beach August ninth, from nine am to
two pm cicles, dental screenings, vision screening, hearing screenings, and
backpacks so they can get started back to school, and
then different things for the parents mental awareness, memogram, diabetes,
(31:14):
CPR yes, CPR training.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
All right, Well, thank you both for coming in talking
to me today doing such a cool thing in the communities.
Very much appreciate it and definitely very much need it.
Thank you, Thank you very much, Thank you.
