Speaker 1 (01:08):
Well?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
I was flossing and then brushing, flossing, brushing, digging in
there with a pick or whatever. I mean, I finally
got it out. I don't know what it was, but
oh my gosh, it was driving me crazy. I thought
I was gonna have to have a dental emergency. Yeah,
I thought I was gonna have to call the dentist
doctor Ricker, and say, hey, can you just take a

(01:29):

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Sally So, a nine year old boy in Iowa, is
being rewarded for taking action that helped the fire department
save lives. City and state crews had been cleaning snow
from four Dodg's sidewalks and roads because they had some
really heavy snowstorms with so much snow this that he
put out a call for families and their kids to
clear another essential part of the city infrastructure, fire hydrants.

(02:06):
Think about it, if you've had a whole lot of
snow in the fire dr and just under a big
blob of snow. You can see it, you can't see it,
and it takes time to clear the snow. And time
is lives when it comes to a fire.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Truly.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Okay. So Colton Holmes, that's the little boy's name. He's
nine years old. He entered the city's call. He cleaned
out the fire hydrant near his house to make it
easier for firefighters to access it, and it turned into
a life saving action. Just a couple of days later,
Fort Dodge Fire Department used that very fire hydrant to
help them put out a structure fire that ended up

(02:39):
displacing several people and their pets. Now here's Colton and
a firefighter talking about what happened. Then Colton gets gifts
from the department.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
I want to help people out and be a hero.
Given the situation, the heavy snowfall recently, time was of
the essence, fire actually doubles in size every minute. So
the fact that we didn't have to dig out a
fire hydrant, say of this an immense amount of time.
So what I want to give you here, buddy, I
got a patch for you hard a perfect and I
also have a challenge point.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
He also got a ride to school in a fire truck.
Nice and by the way, no serious injuries in that fire.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Well, and he's nine years old. That's amazing. Really considerate,
very considerate. Here restores my faith and youth. Coming up
next here on the Mode Sally Morning Show.
